Review Sichi Sagar Veg - Bengaluru

Ranjitha Jagadeesh
If you're a resident of RT nagar or if you stay in and around CBI road, then there's no way you wouldn't be aware of this hotel. I have been going here ever since I was a three years old kid and no matter what I order, I'm always delighted with my meal. And the prices are so affordable. Highly recommended!

A small south Indian vegetarian eatery by the road. No frills and flairs but has a table service with extremely good waiters. Food didn't even take 5 minutes to come to the table. Very tasty and crunchy breakfast that we had. The tubular paper dosa was soooooo long and that it did not fit in the lens properly. Check the photos and you will know what I mean. Absolutely inexpensive. Smoking hot and aromatic filter coffee. Overall a lovely experience.

Vada sambar was good and massala dosa was good, Puri saagu was not to my liking and I tried bonda soup here which again was not upto the mark. But a decent place to eat

Pocket friendly prices and tasty food. The place is a bit small and it was crowded when we visited. There is ac upstairs. The service is quick. We ordered 4 roti and a paneer curry and bill was around 200 Rs only. They accept payment in cash, cards and paytm. Nice place to have food when on a budget.

Good hotel for veg options in this area. I always had good food experience here. Parking for four wheelers is a constraint though.

Decent hotel. Food tastes good

Last visited this place over 16 years and it bought back memories. Like most restaurants, South Indian food isn't available and they push for North Indian over priced food. During the day the food is fairly priced All in all worth it
asim barman
Good atmosphere & different types of snacks & dinner available
Padmaja GS
Good, pocket friendly.. always filled with customers. Full meals in the picture is only 60/-
Ratna Bhat
Good food is available. But there are fewer options.
Lakshmeesh Bhat Sampa
Great taste.. Price is reasonable.. I visit once in a month because it is worth to have food in sichi sagar

Its an average restaurant with average food quality. can be visited if u are nearby and really not in mood to go anywhere else. The food quality is ok ok.
Achal Jain
Decent place with good and pocket friendly food. Nice variety of Chinese and North Indian food. Also, the combos here are quite worth. Even the service here is fast.

I have been going to this place from almost 10 to 13 years now decent place for a affordable price they have ac as well good staff neatly maintained not a royal place but far better then so called big restaurants.
Praveen Kumar Amritaluru
Hygiene wise very very bad.. The waiters/servers in between serving were using their hands to eat the food and then cleaning their hands on their shirts or pants. They really dont like if you point out this issue and ask them to be clean. The quality of food is also pretty bad.Not good for going with family.

One of the cheap and best restaurants in and around R.T Nagar. Only veg served. They serve everything from south Indian to Chinese as well Good taste as well compared to other restaurants around.

Good for dosas and north indian dishes ,

Drawback -1.parking only for 2 wheelers (not sufficient)
2. time taken to parcel food ,
3. Coffee tumblers are real hot
Must try - mushroom masala , set dosa, roti , dal fry
Coffee

Verdict -must try north indian only in evenings

Hit like if you agree 👍

The first restaurant that comes to my mind when I'm hungry and want to dine out with family is Sichi Sagar.
This is one good restaurant in R T Nagar which is easy to locate as it's on the main road. The food served here is yummy. They have recently opened up a AC service hall adjacent to the current restaurant and that's perfect for a silent meal with your family. We often visit this restaurant and have tried almost all the dishes here and it is very good. If you are looking for some yummy meal Sichi Sagar is the place I would recommend 😊
Here are pictures of what I ate a couple of days ago. It is aloo palak with roti and mughalai biryani 😋

Mangalore Buns was good, Banana Sheera was mind blowing perfectly cooked loved it. Puri saag is my all time Favourite. I was lucky to get hot n crispy medu vada dipped in sambar . I am not a Idli fan would prefer a thatte idli instead of normal idlis

This is my favourite place to have any dish at any time of the day. Have been here over a 100 times. From super crispy and tasty masala dosa with coffee to hot gobi manchurian to chole batura, everything is too good here. PS-This above is a review for the fast food section.
SICHI SAGAR DELUX section is a complete NO NO from my side. Because :
1. Service is very poor and VERY slow
2. Ambience isn't that great
3. Staff are arrogant
4. Taste is very basic
Sakina Taher
Feels like home whenever i get a chance to eat here. Awesome food; fast service; Reasonable rates;
I think they should start their home delivery and it will be the best food at r t nagar.
Sichi sagar is a place where you get good tasty food at affordable prices, they have recently opened a new branch , just next to the old outlet.
i love paper masala dosa here and north indian thali.

Perhaps this is "underrated" as previous reviewer mentioned, according to indian standards. But, i was shocked to find cockroaches near my table, when i went for breakfast here - obvious mistake trusting reviews from past few people. To be unbiased, i have to mention that i wound up at this place at 8 am, for my breakfast. Upon enquiry, i found that the "Deluxe" version of this hotel opens only at 9 am. But, i am guessing the kitchen is the same, or similar in standard to the nearby "non-deluxe" Sichi sagar, which i had to go into. Kitchen was the usual dark dungeon that most indian restaurants are. If you are a visitor to india, you are risking a stomach upset by eating in any place rated under 4.0 (IMHO). As far food..... definitely not as good as the nearby Vishnu Vegetarian Restaurant that i tried. Since i eat order the same items from every restaurant i go into (dosa, coffee, etc.) I am able to clearly see the difference between an MTR and a place like this. This forms the basis for my unbiased ratings. I do not expect much of a difference between Deluxe and non-deluxe versions of a restaurant (except for the AC and clean tables). I do not know if the kitchens are different, but they are usually not, in many restaurants. Unfortunately, i did not take a photo of the cockroach, otherwise it would make a big impact here.... Never again.

This one is easily one of the most underrated restaurants. I brought myself to write this review to do justice to delectable food that this place offers. They opened up the deluxe section not so long ago which presents the right ambiance and courteous staff. The vegetarian north Indian main course is flavorsome and scrumptious that you can not get enough of. We have never been disappointed with what we have eaten here so far. Their Kaju masala, panner, and capsicum curries are a must try. Its definitely a must visit.

Both the food and the pricing is great. The vegetarian meal is a must try. Great option for a quick and practical lunch. The North Indian cuisine also happens to be very good.

Being there many times and always had best
Best for budge food . What I liked most is North Indian thali and paper plane dosa
Chat is also good but for dahi Puri they use rice Flour golgappe instead of wheat/maida flour
But allover nice place to eat

Sichi sagar is one of the good fast food restaurant for me. Its near to my house and I usually visit this place for lunch. I love their paneer dishes. If you are paneer lover then you must try once. The low rating is only because of the ambience. It is always crowded and the place is not enough to accommodate.

awsome hotel, veg kolhapuri is my favourite dish, rate also low,i like so much this hotel, but this hotel not given home delivery that is weak point

Been for having a tea . I wasn’t expecting much normal tea and normal usual restaurant . But when the coffee arrived . I can say it’s very good and pretty high standard when compared to similar restaurants. My uncle used to have food from here and he speaks highly about the place and I found it equally good .

Personal favorite when it comes to the area I live in. Have been visiting this restaurant from 15 years. They provide justice to the food and money. Usually I get my food parcelled from here and enjoy my food at home. They may sound and look like a typical south Indian fast food but trust me they are way too specialized in North Indian dishes and Chinese starters. My usual order is roti curry which i get to select among 2 or 3 types of combo depending on which curry. Capsicum curry is smooth and mouth watering. The other regular order is handi dum biryani which is just awesome which allows you to relish the aroma and the taste. I have tried the breakfast menu, lunch and dinner. The staff here literally greets me every time I go there. Their north indian meals is a popular thing to try during the afternoons. Coming to cost, it is the most economical restaurant one will find with the perfect taste favoring your taste buds.
Vinay Kumar
Pls dont go, worst service. They treat you as if you are a beggar and having free food. Food has same taste across all curries. Long waiting time. They dont give a shit if you are a regular customer also
Manu Kumar
Ordering experience was horrible. Need to be quick.
When comes to food was OK, butter nan was good.
Babycorn Manchurian was swagge .............
No recommend ✋🖓🖓🖓🖓.

Their North Indian menu is very good and cheap. Their spicy food can cause some acidity so proceed with caution. .

Awesome food. Good quality meals. Snacks are cheap and best. Go for it without second thought. Good place to have noodles, snacks, rice items.

Put in best terms very well good to be avoided...
The place is clean but the quality of food is so bad that you regret the decision of visiting it...
The place serves southindian breakfast...tried the idli/vada...vada was not tasty, undercooked and no crispness at all...
Tried the masala dosa which had no taste nor the feel of having one...
Coffee was a face saver
Parking limited to 2 wheelers
Hygiene sad...
Please avoid if possible
Ayaz
Awesome food. Typical south Indian idli, dosa, coffee. The north indian Meal was also surprisingly good. Excellent staff. Always smiling and helpful. Small place, so packed most of the time.

This place ,well known from many years .
Ambient is okayish, should have been little larger! Food is of course delicious for the prices, deserves 4.5 to North Indian dishes! And recent renovation is kinda pretty. Worth for the money paying comparatively at the location! Overall a good place :D

Been here many times. Reliable and good food always. Be it south Indian or North, food never disappoints. Usually packed always. So I prefer take away.

From childhood I live this place.
The dosa are just amazing I don't know if they serve still the paper masala dosa. It used to be so big and excellent. I used to have and take parcel for my mom as she also loves it.
Amit Agarwal
Modest eatery with wide range of variety. Chinese starters are something to look out for. It may be overcrowded on the weekends. Light on pocket. Have seen this place grow since 1990s.
Anushree Tricannad Jnanashekar
Sichi Sagar is mine ( and yours) friendly neighborhood Darshini. Sometimes when we are craving some veg food or my mom is a tad bit lazy to cook for the guests Sichi comes to our rescue. They do not have home delivery ( they didn't till the last time we went there) so one has to go there, sit down, order and eat or order and wait for the take away! Since we usually go in the evenings we eat the delicious gobi/paneer Manchurian, veg Noodles and fried rice. Sometimes we've even gotten meals as takeaways. Usually everything that they make is cooked well and spiced to perfection which in turn results in good taste.
So I am a happy soul after a hearty meal at SS!

This place has history. I have seen this place from 2 decades(from the time I was a kid). Though its in a prominent place, it's not too crowded, maybe because the place is small(say 10-12 tables). Food is mediocre. I have had Masala Dosa, Vada, Idli and Bhajji's here. I love bhajji's anyway, so liked it here. Overall, its an ok ok place, considering the amount of competition it has in R T Nagar.

It's another vegetarian food joint in RT Nagar. It appears like decades old, many management has contributed to build it's history.

Basically, it's a very small place. To my surprise they are offering service for such small place! Hardly they have around 10 tables & 3-4 servers for the same. Since tables are placed very close, this place feels congested and crowded. You might have to share tables with others so, don't expect privacy or don't plan any long talks in here.

For these kind of place service must be lightning fast, but strangely it's dead slow! They take approximately 10 mins to deliver each dish, and when I ordered tea at the end it took them over 15 mins to deliver.

FOOD: Overall experience with the food was just above average. Masal Dosa was crispy but tasteless, same thing with Vada, it lacked many main ingredients and the sambar given with it failed to compensate the taste. Tea was good.
I would like to try their meal option and want to see whether it changes my mind.

Parking wouldn't be a problem for 2 wheelers, I'm not sure about hygiene part as I'm not able to see kitchen.

FINAL VERDICT: Just another Veg breakfast joint in the area on which you can depend.
Asad Chaturvedi
Another visit to RT Nagar at a little after breakfast time still gets my stomach rumbling for some morning Dosa and vada. So in I troop to a really old joint located on CBI Road called Sichi Sagar.

A typical Sagar kind of ambience with a self service background. Nothing to rave about when it comes to the Dosa and Vada that i gorged on but suffice to say that if kept my stomach contented.

The coffee was brilliant though and sort of topped of an otherwise average meal.

Cheers,
Adarsh Patil
This is a really old restaurant located on CBI road. The management has changed several times over the years. It caters to the low end, quick serve, fast food and eat out crowd. It has a few tables and a open kitchen.
However it has really really POOR hygiene and cleanliness. The menu consists of full meals, few North and South Indian dishes, chats and some Chinese dishes. Food taste and quality is strictly just average. The chat counter faces the constantly busy and noisy CBI road and the pollution from the vehicles makes it even more unattractive. I have personally seen the cooks in the open kitchen riding on a bike / coming in from a cigarette smoke from outside into the kitchen and start cooking with their bare hands.
VERDICT: There are several more cleaner and better food quality places around this area, offering similar menu, so do try to avoid this place if possible.

A decent place for all kinds of vegetarian food. Kashmiri biryani is my favourite of all. Just yum. I've been going to this hotel since 2005 and they have met my expectations wrt taste and also are economical.

I'm going to Sichi Sagar from the year 1999, when it used to a deserted hotel. But after the management had renovated the hotel, they earned a fame in the nearby locality. Services are far better than shanti sagar and prices too are in economic zone. All the dishes served here are good. Their meals combos are delicious same with breakfast items like pongal, bisibele bath or any other item. Atleast once in a month, I visit Sichi Sagar to enjoy the lovely food.

Sichi's is a pretty old restaurant located on the busy CBI Road. It used to be an occasional haunt during college days, when we were really short on cash or probably had no time to go elsewhere.

It is your quintessential darshini - small, semi-open kitchen, a few tables to sit at, offering the troika of Indian Chinese, South Indian and North Indian cuisines, with the latter's authenticity definitely being suspect.

The food here is pretty ordinary, something that one would go for as a last resort. Pricing is average while service is quick enough.

Verdict :- Average darshini. May slightly be better than that ridiculous Shanti Sagar.
Ajay Arora (foodntraveldiaries.in)
Looking out for a Breakfast option en route to RT Nagar, came across this place on the CBI Road and decided to give it a try. This place is your regular darshini type restaurant - quiet small with a few tables and most of the customers coming here for a takeaway which included me as well. On the ambience - its a main road facing resto with constant noise of vehicles, not much of a dining type of a place with the kitchen area facing right to the tables. The cashier sits at the entrance and did see people paying the bill post food at the country - waiters were not taking the bill cost.
My order was a few set of idly - vada's and a bisi bele bath, the cashier took the order and requested to wait at the entrance while he went and placed the order in the kitchen. Being a weekend it was very crowded and it took about 20 to 25 min for my order to come. For the weight conscious people there is a weiging maching at the entrace which is it self confused i guess because it accepts the new coins for some while for others it does not respond !!
On the food - the idly's were nice and well done. Vada's were soft and the bisi-bele bath was true to its value. My other preference was pongal and rave dosa's but both were not available ! So do ask the cashier on the availability before taking a look in the menu to decide what to order especially on a weekend.
Parking could be a problem as well maybe during evenings as the place is on the mainroad but the road was pretty empty in the morning. Can Try !!
Sonia
Much better than New shanthi sagar, in terms of taste & price, i like their chaats especially..short on money & looking for a all veg meal? This is definitely the place to go to..
GANESH KUDVA
An excellent restaurant for South Indian breakfast & North Indian dinner (not necessarily authentic but tasty) & excellent Value for Money.

Must have are the Vada & the Dosas

Have been going there for over 15 years it has been consistently good.

I rate it much better than Shanti Sagar.

Best value for money veg restaurant in RT Nagar
Ramesh Manjunath
The onion rava dosa is really good. That's said, everything else is just average. And the cashier is horribly arrogant. Otherwise no other option around, so worth the try.
