Review Bhorpet - Bengaluru

I've been a vegetarian for last 4 years and vegetarian orders from the place has always been nice, especially seasonal dishes. Today had the best fish thali ever. The variety of dishes and the courtesy was heart warming. It's a take away place but since I didn't know, they seated me inside house n took turns to offer food if neccesary. Love this place & the Bengali ppl and authentic taste. Ordering again soon

Some of their menu items are surprisingly too good. Though they still have to improve the service a lot, I am giving full marks for the effort they spend to improve day by day. I am a tiffin service user and had ordered food for a small gathering at home. I am truly satisfied.

Someone has rightly said : "One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well" I had ordered the special combo (Please refer the attached pic for the entire menu) for both chicken and mutton.Enjoyed the food, which was healthy and homely. Had missed portions of Chhana Bhapa and a single portion of Aloo Dum. But thanks to Bhorpet Bengaluru for taking a prompt action after being informed. Would love to order more and visit Bhorpet Bengaluru in future 😊

Very tasty and delicious food. Loved the food very much. Also the variety they have in providing various flavours of fish which they provide adds on top like cheery on top. Also we tried Kosha Manghso which was really delicious. A must try for all who all are looking for homely delicious Bengali food.

After missing out on the food on last week, placed an order before going to pick up the chicken biriyani and mutton kosha. Found it okay. But it can be lot better. I had expected a bit more in terms of flavour and quantity. Biriyani wasn't exactly Calcutta style biriyani,I but they made an effort. Meat pieces were decent. Mutton kosha wasnt too oily. I would appreciate their token of offering two veg chops on the house. :)

Ordered for Party combo for my house warming lunch & my guests were delighted to have the delicious vegetarian food. The quantity was sufficient for everyone. The quantity of rice can be according to the sides but otherwise very tasty food. Thank you for delivering such good food on time & making my party memorable :-)!

A very great initiative with great service and great food giving us a fill of bengal

I took away Chicken Rolls from them and that was the most horrible Rolls I ever had. Uncooked Paratha with rotten chicken, bones inside, no sauces. Just disgusting, we all vomited after consuming the Rolls.

The food was pathetic!!!!!!! The fish fry which is an emotion for foodies like me was burnt and tasted of nothing ! The biryani is another misery all together ! Just adding rose water and kewra essence will not make substandard biryani into KOLKATA BIRYANI.. no layering of rice . No spice and half boiled potatoes.. I am turned off !!!! Never order from here unless u have a lot of money to absolutely drain and no respect for bengali food

We order quite a bit from Bhorpet when we don't want to cook but want a nice Bengali meal. They do really good combos (their polau is awesome!) and have generous portions. Their meals are also quite decent! Their range of snacks, chops, and cutlets is also very wide and quite good (Do try the chicken boneless pakora). I find their non-veg fare much better than their vegetarian fare.

Ordered biriyani and dhokar dalna. OMG!! What a pathetic taste. Dhoka is really a dhoka !! 😉. I think the cook didn't eat any good dhoka before. Such a bad taste... Will not order from here again ....

Ordered Chicken biryani. But it was something else. Combination of biryani n chicken curry having different taste with 2 chicken piece with out meat. So if u want above combinations n r ready to waste money u can surely try it.

Bhorpet<br/>This is the worst and most terrible biriyani i ever had.<br/>Guys if you are planning to order from Bhorpet, kindly think thrice before ordering, as you can see the quality of the biriyani rice served,also the taste is not like biriyani even rather it tasted like chicken rice. The chicken and the potato was not even cooked properly.<br/>The price which they are charging for biriyani is not worth it! I felt that the street side biriyani is much more worthy comparatively.<br/>Moreover when i called the restaurant for complaining about this, instead of being sorry they gave a lot of excuses like they were not aware of the rice that was served etc .<br/>Seriously the quality and quantity is not even satisfactory!<br/>Had a worst biriyani day😔<br/>

I ordered Chicken Mughlai Paratha with Aloo Kasha. Instead of Aloo Kasha I got Daal with Mughlai Paratha. Very very disappointing. As I called over the restaurant, the owner said to order something of same value that will be delivered in my next order as due to lack of delivery persons my renewed order could not be delivered. Sincerely hope you keep up your words.

Ordered through Zomota. Stale fish used to prepare kalia was stored for long time. Used Jhinge,kumro in Shukto.

Yesterday I have ordered veg thali from Bhorpet. Being a Bengali, expectation was a lot more to get food from a Bengali restaurant.<br/><br/>First of all in 5mins of order placed the delivery executive reached to the restaurent. And restaurant location is only 2-3km from my house.<br/><br/>Still I received my my product after 45mins of order placing.<br/><br/>First impression totally gone.<br/><br/>Now come to the food.<br/><br/>It was horrable. Shameful to show someone that I get food from a bengali restaurant.<br/><br/>Rice was over cooked. Best for babies whom at the age of 6months-1 year.<br/>Daal was totally watery. Any juice which we usually takes from rodeside juice shop is more thicker than the daal which I received from BHORPET RESTAURANT.<br/><br/>Apart from over cooked rice and watery daal, I received lady finger sabzi. That was totally under cooked. And felt like chewing the raw lady finger.<br/><br/>And one carrot sabzi I received, tase of the sabzi was horrable.<br/><br/>In a veg meal, you will get rice, daal and two sabzi. That also a beautiful combination of over cooked rice and under cooked sabzi with daal like drinking water.<br/><br/>Raised complaints as well. #Zomato give me a sorry wala mail, that's it. Nothing else.<br/><br/>To finished those non eatable food, I had to order sabzi from #Swiggy.<br/><br/>BETTER TO AVOID THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU REALLY WANT TO ENJOY YOUR FOOD.<br/><br/>#SAY NO TO BHORPET RESTAURANT

Ordered from this place, and was vehemently disappointed. They charged a good 255 for the Pabda Meal, but nothing about it was worth the money. The fish smelled bad, clearly had been kept in store for sometime, the daal and the sabji was as bland as it could get. Please don't order from this place if you're looking to enjoy your meal.

Great food for Bengalis

The food is very tasty and healthy and people looking for home cook food this is the right place to visit or order.

Food joints outside kolkata are normally very money minded, they know that bengalis are always craving for good food and they capitalise that emotion and sell one ilish sorshe plate for 600 rupees.<br/>However, to our much surprise, Bhorpet was exactly the opposite in this aspect. A very small place run by few bengali folks but the food they serve is really awesome considering the price.<br/>Today we took two non-veg meals which consist of Luchi, Chholar dal, Muri ghonto, Shak ghonto, Lotte machher jhuri, Chingri malaikari/mutton Kassa, machher matha diye daal, jhuri aloo bhaja/beguni, chutney, malpoa.. and all these cost only 360 rupees. Quantity is good enough for one person, packing is good and their hospitality is really commendable.<br/>Definitely recommended if you miss your maa er haat er ranna. <br/>Thankyou Bhorpet!!

This is the first time I ordered food in bulk quantities....I was bit reluctant while placing the order.....but I am totally amazed with the quality and quantity of food.....each and every one of us really enjoyed the meal ordered (khichudi, chanar dalna, alu phulkopir dalna)....the taste is amazing and thanx for complimentary Chutney papad....and of course it's pokect friendly as well..

This morning I was searching for Bengali cusine on Zomato and explore this brand which is named Bhorpet , we decided to visit this place for lunch , they don't have any sitting arrangement due to which we were little upset ☹️, but the staff out there were very polite and friendly 😊, they made us sit in the office area which is just next to the kiosk,we ordered one spl fish combo meals and one spl chicken combo meal , in meal they serve plain rice which is sufficient for one I must say with that they gave us Corriander Dal, Jhuri Aloo bhaja, Badhakopi Aloo sobji, Chhanar Dalna , 2 pcs of Fish with fish meal and chicken curry with chicken meal and finally Tomato chatni to end the meal in sweet note , the quantity which they served was awesome with reasonable price , it was really an Authentic Homely Hygienic food which we really enjoyed , we usually go to Moyra & Calcutta dairies when we feel like having Bengali cusine but this place had won some place in my heart will visit again soon to try some more mouth watering dishes , Good luck ....👍

Quality of food is worst. Last week ordered 1 veg combo meal where some items were missing. Today i ordered 1 fish combo meal. The fish seemed to have very bad smell and felt like it was rotten and old. Will not recommended to any one.

Ordered from this place last evening in search for Bengali food..Thought of trying a new place and ordered from here for a quick dinner..Have ordered sorshe maach, chicken kusha and roti and phulka..The food was delivered in time so full marks for the same..Full marks to the service of the delivery boy..coming to the food, the taste was good but there was lot of oil which should have been avoided..Also, could not find difference between roti and phulka..both were same..Might be this would have happened in my order as a one odd case and hope I get a better experience next time.

Not at all good. Ordered mughlai, phulka, dal and aloo jhuri.<br/>Mughlai was stiff, not cooked properly; aloo curry with mughlai also not good; dal was horrible in taste as well as consistency. Phulka was ok. Overall bad experience, never gonna reorder.

I had a wonderful experience with Bhorpet. It was my mother’s annual Shraddho and I wanted authentic Bengali cuisine. Found Bhorpet in google. They could fulfill my food order in just one days notice. Food was excellent and all my guests who were not even Bengali loved every dish. Highly recommend and wish to use their service in near future too..!!

Ordered food for a get together last evening. Everyone loved the food including starters and main course. Starters included mochar chop and dimer devil. Main course had Basanti pulao, chicken kosha and chanar dalna. Keep up the good work Bhorpet.

I had given a contract for catering over a few days, with varying headcount and menu each day. Food provided was good in taste, quantity and quality. There were no complaints from anyone. Proprietor was proactive in suggesting reduction or cancellation of some items based on my feedback about excess food or headcount change.<br/><br/>Prices are moderate, and we did not have to stretch budget (though this is subjective and depends on individual). Only niggle was with chicken that was bit fibrous. Feedback has been shared asking to improve their sourcing of raw chicken.<br/><br/>On formal occassions, presentation is as important as food itself. Proprietor should look for vendors who can supply required utensils, cutlery and other paraphernalia that could help make a classy presentation, when clients (like me) need it.<br/><br/>Would I go with them again? Yes. Why? Good food, generous portions, decent pricing, courteous and helpful attitude.

The place was suggested by my Bengali wife. We ordered mutton curry (jhol), rice for main course and Mughlai paratha, Dimer devil for starters. Serving portion was quite healthy for the price we paid. Mughlai paratha was an absolute delight. Mutton curry had the authentic Bengali home cooked taste. I was taking tiffin services from them for dinner. I found it very average. However their ala carte menu especially on weekends are worth trying. Luchi alu dum, mutton/chicken kosha, Calcutta biriyani are great. Home delivery takes a lot of time sometimes even results in wrong delivery. Hence the average rating

I ve taken food from them multiple times and must say that they have never let me down with their food quality.<br/><br/>The mughlai paratha they prepare over the weekends is an absolute yum. The breakfast options are also pretty decent. In my opinion, Bhorpet provides the closest to Kolkata cuisine taste in my area.<br/><br/>Now, the part I loved: Recently for my son's birthday, I took their catering service. The food was so good, all my guests appreciated the choice. Mutton Dakbunglow stood as the star of the show (soft and succulent), to an extent there was not a bone left at the end of the party. The service guys who had come were also very cooperative and polite.<br/><br/>The couple who runs the joint are very gentle and receptive, which I believe is the key element in hospitality business.<br/><br/>The only downside of the joint I felt is the location, which I wish was little closer to the ORR.<br/><br/>Would definitely visit/order from them many more time.<br/>

This place didn't deliver to my place due to lack of delivery boys. But I'm very happy receiving the food from them. Zomato called and said that it's beyond 2 Km so cannot be delivered. What kind of joke is it, because where in Bangalore you can find something within 2 Kms? But thanks to Bhorpet who called me to get the confirmation. I really enjoyed the homely and real tasty food. A taste from our own kitchen. Bhorpet not only made my wedding week special, but made it a memory to all. It was a 3 day order for 30 people and more. I can never thank them enough for the lip-smacking food and the brilliant service. It has been over a month now and my guests are still appreciating the mutton and the chatni. We booked Bhorpet for my kids birthday party catering. It was for 40 people and the menu was set by us. The menu was fish fry, vegetable chop, kodai sutir kachuri, alur dum, paneer er dalna, plain rice, moonger dal, jhuri alu bhaja, chicken kosha, chatni, papad. It was for lunch and they came on time with the food and setup the buffet table quickly. All the items were freshly prepared and was tasty, specially dal, paneer and chicken. The kids too enjoyed the food very much. Fish fry was little soggy and some people didn't like it. Otherwise everything was good and professionally handled. Thanks Bhorpet for letting our guests to enjoy a delicious Bengali lunch.

There is no 0 or - rating coz rating 1 is also not deserved by the quality and quantity of the food.<br/>2. combos + 3 plates Luchi, chicken & chatni and 2 piece sorshe (mustard gravy) fish.<br/><br/>The below mentioned items were horrible<br/>1 Luchi<br/>2 sobji (couldn't figure out what were the ingredients)<br/>3 aloo jhudi bhaja (only 2 table spoon quantity)<br/>4 Fish (stale) mustard gravy only yellow in colour but no mustard taste.<br/>5 Daal<br/><br/>Only thing ok in quantity was rice & chicken kasa was the only authentic bengali preparation but the quantity was very less.<br/>Tiny 6 pieces smaller than thumb, total in 3 plate order :-( for sure it never lived up to its name bhorpet and not upto the quality standards of a bengali cuisine.<br/>Bill amount 790 (including packing charge 15 and delivery charge 30).

The food was delicious and homely. Highly recommended, if you love Bengali food. My friends from Bangalore were completely bowled over by the Prawn Malaikari & Bhapa Hilsa. Would order again.<br/><br/>Wish they had doorstep delivery for all orders though!

Doesn't deliver food after 7:30 PM because of shortage of delivery persons. It's only for pre-booked tiffin orders. Wasted quite a bit of time on two occasions to figure out some Bengali dishes only to be disappointed later. 😔

Awesome Test.. Khichudi, Labra, Payes, Chatni, Beguni... Made my day on the auspicious occasion of Bengali Saraswati Puja. Thanks Bhorpet for the remind me home away home like food. Enjoyed alot.

Have tried recently, chicken kasha, chicken biryani and firni. Chicken kasha is absolutely home made taste. I simply liked it.  Biryani was good as well, after long time I had a nice homely biryani, without much oily stuff. Firni rocks as well.<br/><br/>Thank you guys.

This is a small take-away junction and mainly for tiffin service and catering. They are serving some nice bengali menu during weekends. I take almost everyday and I like it very much. Good option for me and home away home!

A cost effective place for authentic bengali dishes. We had ordered sankranti combo for our guests on 14th Jan, it was quite impressive compare to the cost they charged for it. Patisapta, dudhpuli and payes was simply awesome!

Taste is deteriorating from last 4 times i had in 6 months.  Kalia is made of onion paste while cheicken dakbungalow also tastes like Katla kalia. Amsotter Chutney is made of tamarind! Not worth going for it

Just a college canteen like run by some inexperienced Bengali guy...<br/>I don't know, who and how some reviews have given this place 4.5 and 5... Guess I think... They haven't tried true Bengali cuisine or may be places like bhajohari manna, oh Calcutta, Esplanade etc etc...<br/><br/>This is a road side small shop... That's OK, even chakum chukum roll shop at Indiragar is off same size... But serves one of best kolkata rolls out here in Karnataka....<br/>I had meals few times here..their general dal, also bhaja, fish Currey has a home made taste... Good to try.<br/><br/>But man don't try anything exqusite like kolkata chicken cheap...they put mustard in chaap!! Can you believe it...!!!<br/>Their begun basanti... Is a fried brinjal.. in watery curdled curd gravy!!!<br/>Talk of basanti pulao or biriyani rice quality is way below par... But they charge decent INR 150 one plate biriyani ...which can serve just one... Any other biriyani place ..even road side ones provides basanti or jeera rice....<br/><br/>To sum up... If you want to have Bengali taste with fish kalia, also aloo bhaja, dal and cutni try it...<br/><br/>DO NOT TRY anything exotic... These guys have no clue how to cook anything else part of Bengali cuisine...<br/><br/>My ratings<br/><br/>1. Food - 1.5/5<br/><br/>2. Ambience - 1/5<br/><br/>3. This was my first order from bhorpet n I loved it....The alu bhaja was exactly the way my mom makes at home n the chingdi kosha was just too good....It reminded me of my hometown.The quantity of rice was sumptuous too,there can be slight improvement in the veg thali for thr quality of dal n the two veg sabjis (the choice of vegetable n thr taste can be made better).I had also ordered egg curry which was very homely n authentic... I really liked the food...thank you.

I have tried almost all items during my stay in Bangalore. This is the only place I can blindly order anything to satisfy my Bengali taste buds! Next time when I will go to bangalore will find a house nearby Bhorpet! Keep up the good work guys!

Wish I could give negative rating... coz the food was so bad. I had ordered cholar daal (which was not at all bengali style), aloo posto (no posto in it, it was tasting like something else and too much of turmeric in it), rui  fish(ok types, nothing great). The worst delivery service ever. They promised to deliver it by 1, but the delivery boy came by 2:30. Will never recommend this anyone.
