Review Puttum Kattanum - Bengaluru

Best service and very good Kerala food, puttu kadala, appam, pattiri, idiyappam, and have some non veg traditional dishes. Appearance of the Hotel also very innovative and feels like old tattu kada style. Malayalees frequently visiting this place to get their homely food.

Great new place. Authentic Kerala cuisine. Cheap food and amazing taste. The only problem I found was the serving size. They should increase it. Anyway, still deserves 5 stars

Kerala is a home of breathtaking landscapes, splendid backwaters, water boats, Kallaripayattu etc. There is one more thing that makes it inimitable and that is its cuisine. Puttum Kattnum, a newly opened place (near M.S. Ramaiah College) has brought the lingering taste of Kerala cuisine straight from the neighboring state in Namma Bengaluru. Talking about the interiors, wooden benches, lanterns, and bamboo tissue holders will make you feel that you are in some traditional south-indie shop. All the artwork on the wall like old shop’s drawings and other graffiti are hand painted by the artists. When it comes to food, they offer all legendary dishes of the state, infused homely flavors, both for lunch and dinner. Various traditional dishes like fish mulakittathu, chicken kondattam and kadala curry are served with iddiappams, kappa (tapioca dish) and ari puttu (steamed rice roll) and are available at pretty thrifty prices. Coming to the taste, Kadala curry and Veg korma offered with Ari puttu was mildly spiced. Whereas, Pepper chicken and Duck roast were enough peppery to tingle our taste buds. But our mind was totally blown by the yumminess of Fish Mulakittathu. It was perfectly marinated and cooked. Believe us the godly taste transcended our souls to heaven. We suggest you end your meal with Puttum Kattnum's Special Biryani Tea, you would not regret it! If you are yearning for the authentic food from God's own country, then don't miss this place.

One of best Kerala dishes.

Loved the vibe. Food was served hot with the authentic Kerala flavor. People are very nice. The only issue I had is with their payment method specifically the card swiping device which didn't work for almost 3 different cards. They accept Paytm so no worries if you don't have cash on you or your card is getting declined.

Excellent food, good vibe and service. Best place for authentic Kerala style food.

This was one of my favourite. If you wanted to taste the typical Alleppey style recipe is this was the perfect location. Especially the Fish curry as well as the recipes are awesome. I became a fan of Puka but unfortunately they shut down this particular outlet .

This small eatery offers the best authentic kerala cuisine that is available in the area and the tea is the best there, one can gulp down cups after cups of tea sitting there on a rainy evening.

tried their famous biryani tea. I am not a tea person so it was a little strong for me but yes this is something new & I will really ask people to try it out as everyone has different tea Taste.

Irachi puttu was really awesome!! Papad came with it as a surprise just like how it is served back in Kerala. Very nostalgic!! Will order again. Quantity is a bit less I believe for one person.

I would have given negetive star if at all it would have been there. It was worst, they didnt give anything with that..no chatney..no curry nothing..and on the top of that it was cold, hard and smelling also...i want the refund...

A very nice place to hang out...

Why you should visit ???
Either you are a Mallu , like Kerala foods or you are a true foodie and you like to give your taste buds an unique experience...

In Mathikere it's very hard to get parking which is the only negative aspect. The second negative aspect is the location if you don't enjoy the slow moving traffic and the street honkings..

The best thing you should try is the Kerala special tea of 10 INR.. I drank like pegs , ordered one after the other as it was so mesmerizing..
The food specially red meat fry is just the trademark of Kerala cusine and is great.. Even all the items tried and tasted were good and worth Mentioning..

The best combination is less price and good food which is the one- many of us are in a constant search..

CAUTION - Therir quantity is too much , so think before you order.. As I too overeated..

Abhishek4077

This place has the best ambience in the entire NIAS main road. The wallpapers from newspaper cutouts and railings from jute ropes. The place just gives off a Kerela feel. Coming to the food, I tried something new here, called Puttu biryani. It was different, but tasty. Yet, the most suprising item was the Biryani Tea, which was somehow amazing. It's actually a masala tea, where they use biryani masala instead.

Must try: Biryani Tea

Might wanna try: Puttu Biryani

Should never try: None

Food: 3.5
Pricing: Low
Service: 3.5
Ambience: 4

I would recommend to every friend who likes Kerala cuisine. Thanks to my malayali friend who took me here. Just loved the place, decor and the food. Got wheat puttu, wheat parotta with chicken pepper fry and chicken curry. hot milk with puttu goes well. Yummy. My way of eating puttu. Finally a ginger tea. Loved it. Will visit again.

A pretty decent Kerala cuisine kinda place.
Wheat puttu was amazing with kada curry though they didn't have my favorite kada fry.
Kappa biryani wasn't good, kappa wasn't fresh or tasty. Could improve on the taste overall but they do have a pretty big menu. Place is a little cramped but well laid out.

Pathetic.. food quality is too bad.. think again before taking food from this restaurant..
They have provided spoiled food when I asked home delivery and I was sick due to food poisoning..
Shammas Mohammed
The food is great and the ambience too. Not meant for people looking for calm and peaceful dining. People at the restaurant is friendly. They have open dining too. A hangout spot for college peeps. They have a lot varieties of tea. The biriyani tea is a must try.
NIRMAL DHARMAN
Putt biriyani too good.
Lemon tea nice.
Reasonable pricing.
Spices in some items on higher than required.
Chicken omelet none of us liked.
Gee rice was awesome.
Got rabbit roast which was good.
A place with a cozy, thattukada ambiance. Food here tastes like home and is light on the pocket. Puttu biriyani is a must try if you visit this place. And they always have nice, old malayalam melodies playing, which I really like.

A place to go for a full fledged meal or a quick bite! Must try the Biriyani Chai and the Kattan Chai/Black Tea. The lunch is nominal and prices are not a pinch to the pocket.
