Review Odisha Hotel - Bhubaneswar

Sipra Choudhury
The Odisha hotel impressed with its delicious and authentic local cuisine . The variety of dishes and flavors made dining a delightful experience . Service was attentive , though improvement in the ambiance would enhance the overall dining experience.

If you want to have pure Desi Odia food then this place is really nice to serve you the best dishes. Specially veg thali, Mutton curry,Desi chiken were awesome. A nice place to enjoy lunch/dinner with friends & family. The only irritating thing was the noise of kitchen door.Everytime they opened it, it was making really very irritating noise.

It has been a long time since I visited this restaurant. So this review is based upon my earlier visit. Well..traditional odiya food...that's what this restaurant is known for.....and it is good too....First of all the menu is not at all clumsy or complicated one like you find it in most of the restaurants...it is limited and their only focus is the Odia cuisine..... Ambience: Simple...on the walls there are paintings of rath yatra...and odiya culture.... Food was good . cant complain about the quality as it was up to my expectation.....the pohala fish curry, mahuralli fish curry , chingudi rai and chicken kassa were spicy and delicious.....serving the food in traditional plates like kansa or bronze quality plates adds to the taste.... Would love to visit this restaurant again and try other dishes....

They offer genuine Odia cuisine. The hotel's restaurant is renowned in Bhubaneswar for serving some of the finest Odia dishes, meticulously prepared with fresh ingredients and traditional recipes. The restaurant exudes a warm and inviting ambiance, adorned with touches of Odia culture in its decor. The staff is both courteous and well-informed about the menu, always eager to recommend the most delectable dishes. Among the must-try delicacies at 'Odisha Hotel' are Chingudi Jhol, Prawn & Fish curry, crab masala, and prawn fry. The flavors are indulgently rich and satisfying, leaving a lasting impression on one's taste buds. In summary, 'Odisha Hotel' in Bhubaneswar is an excellent choice for aficionados of fine cuisine.

A very good experience of othentic odia food. Good test. But less quantity. I love the food and the culture of odiya people.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Odisha Hotel . This charming establishment not only impressed me with its warm ambience and attentive service but also left me in awe of its delectable cuisine. From the moment I stepped inside, the inviting atmosphere welcomed me, creating an inviting and cozy environment. The staff members were friendly, accommodating, and provided excellent recommendations from the vast menu options. Now, let's talk about the food. The menu showcased a diverse array of delectable regional and international dishes, catering to different culinary preferences. As a fan of seafood, I couldn't resist trying the signature Odisha-style crab curry, and it did not disappoint! The dish was bursting with flavors, impeccably spiced, and the generous portion left me completely satisfied. Apart from their seafood specialties, the restaurant also excels in vegetarian and meat-based dishes. Whether you're a fan of traditional Indian curries, continental delights, or fusion cuisine, Odisha Hotel Restaurant offers something for everyone. The presentation of each dish was delightful, showcasing the chef's attention to detail. The ingredients were fresh and of high quality, elevating the overall dining experience. The flavors were well-balanced, and every bite was a delightful journey of taste. Another aspect that truly stood out for me was the restaurant's commitment to excellent service. The staff members were knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and always ready to assist. They made sure that my dining experience was exceptional, taking care of every little detail with a warm smile. The ambiance of the restaurant was perfect for both casual and formal occasions. Whether you're looking for a relaxed family meal or a romantic dinner date, Odisha Hotel Restaurant offers a versatile setting to cater to all occasions. In conclusion, my experience at Odisha Hotel Restaurant was nothing short of remarkable. The combination of a welcoming atmosphere, impeccable service, and mouthwatering cuisine truly sets it apart. I highly recommend stopping by and indulging in the culinary delights offered by the talented team at Odisha Hotel Restaurant.

A proper authentic Odia Restaurant. Great place to have fresh prawns and a mouthwatering Mutton Alu jhool. I do recommend the above a lot.

This restaurant has been a face of Odia cuisine for decades. It serves awesome summer special platters which are absolutely delicious. The prices are a bit on the higher end. But the taste and the service are so great. I remember watching Rocky and Mayur from the famous Highway On My Plate show visit the Saheed Nagar. I tried the platter and mutton, both exceptional. I didn't have a very great takeaway experience, so I wouldn't recommend that.

Good ambience with tasty food, must visit to eat mutton, all types authentic odia cuisine available here, service and behavior of staffs are good.

The food was just okay. Tastewise, very plain and blatant. We tried chenna curry and mutton jhol. The ambience is good and staffs helpful.

I frequently visit this place when I am in bbsr. Good location, friendly and welcoming staffs. Food is amazing, it is not too rich or spicey. Just like home made food. Great taste and substantial quantity. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants authentic oriya cuisine.

If you ever want to have authentic Odia food while being in Bhubaneswar, please visit Odisha Hotel. Their mutton will take you home. The best thing I love was that each and every item was prepared keeping in mind the spice level, the sweet tooth of every individual. Means their mutton was apt for someone who love spice and also for someone who have zero spice tolerance. Similarly, their Kheer is apt for someone who enjoys Sweet and someone who doesn't. Love love whatever they prepare.

Odiya cuisine at its best. Great service and staff are very welcoming. Tried the veg thali with half mutton and chicken kassa and also dahi baigan. Loved the food here!
Soumya Lakra
Authentic taste πŸ™Œ Rs-200 veg special thali they have many items and the best part is all thier plates are made up of bronze. Eating in Bronze plates is good for our health. Perfect for Family , friends ❀ taste like ghar ka khana

Amazing food. Plz do visit if u r in bhubaneshwar. I had fun . Staff is very nice

Lovely, cosy, homely restaurant which serves great Orissa cuisine. All glasses/plates are brass or some other metal which make them heavy to handle. The muttons items are superb. The fish fry we had was also very nice with an awesome filling inside the fish. We ordered the thali as well and that was very filling and tasty. Would definitely recommend eating at this place if you want to enjoy Oriya cuisine.
saumil maheshwari
Superb food if you are a non-vegetarian. Not so much if you are a vegetarian. The prawns and the mutton are out of the world. All this yum food at an affordable price.

Not the best but food was really nice.

Being from Odisha, it gets extremely difficult to enjoy the local cuisine even within the state which is astonishing. Odiya cuisine unlike bengali cuisine isnt quite as popular even within the state, mostly due to the fault of its restaurants not marketing it properly and rampantly adopting other cuisines such as mughlai and south indian.

Odisha hotel, in Chandrashekpur has good ambience and has good hygiene albeit being small. Copper utensils used evoke the traditional odiya household feel which is very nostalgic. Service is very good as well.

I have been there atleast a hundred times now and its great every time.
1. Mutton Kassa (succulent pieces of mutton in a semi thick gravy)

2. Prawns fry (cooked with mild spices in a traditional way)

3. Crab curry (awesome if you like crab)
4. Mix veg (contains multiple local veg dishes such as saag and aloo bhaja)

5. Dahi baingan (fried brinjal in dahi, really good),

6. Ghanta tarkari (mix veg curry specific to Odisha, might be an acquired taste)

7. Kheer (Similiar to a rice pudding)

8. Chena poda (Indian cheesecake)

The prices are slightly on the higher side considering bhubaneswar. It would cost two people roughly around 800-1000rs. But the food is definitely worth it.
Saswat Pradhan
I tried their crab masala, which was very disappointing. Firstly it was because of the size of the crab served ,which was not even 2 inches in diameter .secondly it is way overpriced considering portion size and the general ambience of the restaurant.
Padhi Priyanka
I just love it.the food quality is so good..

If you are looking for authentic odia food then you must visit this place. You can find many of the odia dishes starting from santula to chakuli oo mutton curry. I tried there chakuli pitha and chicken curry and it was so tasty. You must visit this place.

Visited this junction as I heard a lot about it. However I was utterly disappointed with the food and service of this junction. I ordered crab thali and pohla fish besara. Both the dishes were very very ordinary. Neither crab nor Pohla was fresh. Moreover they dont allow you to finish the food as they continually ask you "Do u require anything?" so that you vacate your table as soon as possible. This is really disgusting, rude and stupid. Dont go with the hype my friends. Avoid this place.
Narendranath Basak
I had gone to have lunch with my friend. We ordered mutton aloo jhol, rice, badi chura. The mutton was very good, soft and not much oil. It tasted like home cooked mutton. Would live to visit again and have mutton. There serving plates and glass is very interesting, brings a traditional odhiya feel. And not to forget the service was very good.
Shouvik Biswas
If you're up for authentic odia food. Go there and taste a bit of it. I heard a lot about this restaurant from my friends and been there twice and had mutton thali every time. It was delicious. You can try deshi chicken jhol here.
Sonali Pattanaik
Do try the fish mustard curry...it’s just amazing. This place is a must to go when someone visits Odissa, especially the non vegetarian. Get the authentic taste of Odissa. Rates are reasonable.
Oh my God 😍 I tell you this is one of the finest places for having authentic Odia cuisine.. I had their rohi macha masala.. basically fish masala and it was so gooooooooodddd.. you'll love this place.. they provide good amount of food at good price..

-i want to have some authentic Odia food
-let's go to ODISHA hotel
One Stop for my cravings for ODIA food is ODISHA hotel. The place has ambience that reflects Odia culture. But mutton jhola and chingudi jhola is all time favourite.
.
A nice place, good food and lovely & lively experience πŸ’•βœ¨

excellent traditional odia food. the mutton curry is probably the best among restaurants in Bhubaneswar and the mutton liver kassa is a must try as well. Do try the sweets here as well. they are excellent.

This place ofcourse is famous for serving authentic odia food...ambience of the place was even pretty good...the best part are the traditional utensils on which they serve the food...now coming to the food...I loved the "khasi mansa aloo jhola" ...it was so yumm...everything thing there was yumm..bt the kaju paneer was a bit disappointing...it was gud bt nt as gud as compared to other dishes...considering the price, the quantity of the food was a bit less bt its okey to spend ur money on such a scrumptious meal...
Ranjit Pradhan
Nice place to have authentic odia cuisine. You can choose from a big range if items. I'll recommend to have thali as it will be wholesome. Chicken curry , crab curry and rice kheer are worth trying. Have special fish dishes every day like hilsa or rui etc. Overall it was lovely to try odia cuisine being from outside Odisha.
Sunita Nanda
It serves authentic Odia dishes which is why it's my personal favourite. The mutton thali, prawn thali are the must, you should try.
Certain items like badi chura, mix bhaja, you would love them. They give homely taste.
Talking about ambience, it's quite nice. You'll have a nice time with family, friends during lunch.
So, If you haven't tried, then rush into it for the best Odia food in town!
Pulak Priyadarshi
Being a foodie, I loved this place. Always crowded, even then service is quick. Food is served in traditional utensils which enhances the look. Taste is good, the amount served is less but considering the taste I wouldn't consider that a let down. Only reason for 4 stars , is the taste of the kaju paneer which was not upto the mark. Watery sweet gravy with paneer which is not what u expect. Hope they can make it the traditional odia way.

Being an odia, pakhala is a must in the summers. Odisha hotel is quite famous for it's pakhala thali(veg and non-veg). We ordered a non-veg pakhala thali and chicken keema. The quantity of items in the thali was just perfect. Chicken keema was also a boon to taste buds. On the downside this place is not suitable for lunch on a daily basis. Here's my ratings:
Ambiance: 3/5
Service: 4/5
Food: 4/5
Value for money: 3/5

Verdict: If you want to have a taste of pakhala in summers, you should try this place.

SUMMER, SUNDAY & PAKHALA, these words summarise the wonderful lunch I had this afternoon at ODISHA HOTEL.

We ordered for NONVEG PAKHALA THALI (β‚Ή250) which had 5 types of veggies, tomato poda, maccha besara and chinguri chenchha. Chinguri chenchha stood out of the lot. These small prawns have a distinct taste of their own. I like dahi pakhala over the plain one, but didn't like the curry leaves and mustard tempering which made it taste like a south india dahi rice. (You can order the pakhala with the tempering/chhunka). MUTTON CURRY (β‚Ή300) was impressive, the pieces were soft and perfectly cooked, the curry was mild and had great taste.

Well this was the first pakhala of the season and many more to come. The pakhala experience is incomplete without following it up with 3hr afternoon nap. I hope you follow this process too?
Shaswat Swarup
Odisha Hotel serves authentic Odia food. This place is very famous for Pakhala during summer. I have tried the non veg Pakhala thali which has Pakhala accompanied by fish besara bhaja, aloo bharta, prawn checha, papad, saga bhaja, badi chura, kobi bhaja, a slice of cucumber and a few other vegetable fries. I have also had desi chicken curry and mutton keema curry. They always cook the meat to perfection. They serve food in copper ware and their service is super quick. The dishes are moderately priced. The place is usually quite crowded during lunch hours for it wonderfully satiates the Odia food craving.
Anumita Dash
I had heard a lot about this place from friends but my first experience wasnt really great as expected. We ordered a plethora of dishes but I can't choose something I really liked. Mutton wasn't properly cooked and chicken curry had too much of garam masala. Prawn curry was decent.
The staff was cordial but the service wasn't that good. They did not have proper cutlery when we asked even though there was no crowd as such.

This is my all time favourite place.😍 They serve the best odia food in town. The quality and quantity of the food is very good. You can get the authentic odia food, ambience and a pocket friendly price. This place deserves 5star indeed.

The restaurant is serving superb odiya cuisines. There are very less authentic oriya food serving restaurants in bbsr and this one is really amazing.Being an oriya , I can assure that this restaurant will make you fall in love with odiya foods. If you're a non-vegetarian , go for mutton dishes.

Amazing place to Have Pure Odia Cuisines at peace.
🏩Ambience: Nice Atmosphere with Wall paintings, Brass utensils on the table top and Wooden Chair and Tables. They also have live music which is mostly Odia songs of 90's. I got Khanti Odia vibes while I was having lunch here.
πŸ₯˜Food: The Pakhala Meal is quite a famous Dish of this place. We had Pakhala meal with Nonveg Dishes and Matar paneer. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted awesome.
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘§ Service: Staffs are well trained and pay attention to customers choice all the time.
.
Loved the Food, the Vibes and Everything about this FAMOUS ODISHA HOTEL. Amazing place to eat authentic Oriya thali. Thanks to my beloved Oriya friends and my Oriya wife who accompanied me their for lunch on Diwali last year. When it's amazing to be in the auspicious city of BBSR, lunch in here adds it to your enjoyment of traditional flavour of Odisha...

As they say, When you are in Odisha, Eat like Odiyas do...

Have been here a couple of months before.. I must say you should give it a try and u will satisfy ur taste bud for sure... From the ambience point of view to service all are good. So have a try over der.

Very authentic place for Odisha food. I went with my wife to try out authentic Odisha foods. We tried mutton Keema, country chicken and fish curry along with rice and chappathi. We absolutely loved the mutton Keema and the chicken curry. It was very tasty. Regarding fish, we didn't really liked the taste, main reason is that, since coming from Kerala, we not accustomed with Odisha style of fish with lots of mustard gravy and mustard oil fried fish. The service was also very good.
The hotel is near to Infosys campus, Bhubaneswar. Not by the road side, but Google map shows the right place. The food was really good there. Extremely tasty and courteous staff. The ambience and wall paintings where nice. Food was served in copper plates or so. That was a royal feel!!
They accept card payments and have enough parking too.

So it's a proper odisha place .
So much authentic look. Authentic dishes.. !

Look at the authenticity look of the place ! 😊

We ordered some small prawn fried , rice , mutton , dal fry n began vaja , a salad and two cold drinks .

The menu is almost in odhiya language.

The place is so cheap ! We four people ate n the bill was only 800rs .

Finally i found some place where the staffs are courteous in this bhubaneswar !

So beautifully.

They played some beautiful odhiya song behind ! πŸ’

I guess people should try this place ! 😍

I had gone in with a huge expectation. We ordered the odisha thali with mutton aloo jhol, mutton liver kassa and rohu tawa fry. The food was bland. The bhai they served, presumably of the pumpkin flower, lacked any crispiness whatsoever. The mutton liver was under-marinated and hard. The fried beans and potatoes were cold. The rohu tawa fry was just plain fried fish. No charring or any seasoning to suggest it being fried on a tawa as such. I was expecting good Oriya food, after having eaten lip-smacking Oriya food elsewhere, but this one failed to deliver to its hype. Pocket pinch for 3 was 1200 bucks,so I guess the price is reasonable. There are a very few proper restaurants in Bhubaneswar serve authentic Odia food. This is one of them. If you're new to Odia cuisine and try something authentic then you can certainly opt for this joint. On the other hand, if you are an Odia and bored of 'Ghar ka Khana' but don't want to stray away from delicious Odia food then do visit this restaurant. You won't be disappointed. I can't remember the name of the dish but one of the dishes they served was stale but they replaced without any hesitation. Service was a bit slow as it was crowded. Ambiance was up to my expectations.

The quality of food is not like the quality that of at Sahid Nagar Branch.

Some of the food items are good.
Lacks in dessert option. There are a lot of popular Odia sweets which can be added to the menu.

*Food Quality - The Best Joint for Odiya Food & this is my 5th time i having my food in any Odisha Hotel Outlet.
*Service - Warm

*Price - Average Thali Costs between Rs 300 - Rs 350Β
*Location - This location is bit out of city but very useful for people who are working in infocity

*Ambiance - Traditional

Likes - This time i had Pakhala which was superb + Dry Mutton + Chinguri Checha was super cool
Dislikes - They dont have much variation in chicken which is of course not a bad thing but a thing which they might think and improve some time in future

A very nice place to get to know how delicious odia cuisines can be..the only thing that kills the buzz is variability in service..serving cold food is certainly a disaster and this is what I have encountered on a number of occasions here..must try mutton curry and crab..
Ranjan Setha
Very bad experience this restaurant mutton pic is not good aloo is not boiled but price is very good 200 for mutton curry I call this restaurant manager my Rating is - 10
Shalini Mohanty
They serve thali but very little quantity. Crabs are not up to mark. Mutton is good. As of badi chura, it wasn't cooked properly. Authentic odia food is served. Okay restaurant.

When in orrisa, if you want to eat like the odiyas do, visit this place. A simple, nice & friendly place for eating good food. Please do pay a visit to this place.

Very oily taste is not good poor preparation I ordered a mutton curry price is { 200 rupees } Aloo not boiled and mutton pic is not good I will give you 1 star

If you want to have a taste of Odia cuisine, Odisha Hotel is the best known place in Bhubaneswar. The rastaurant has a family friendly atmosphere. Price is also moderate. The good part about the hotel is that their service quality has not gone down with time which is not the case with their other branch at Sahid Nagar.
Satyajit Adhikary
Ordered a desi chicken kassa, got it delivered very quickly. The taste was good and as expected. Visited this place before, nice traditional service with bronze utensils and odia environment.

Ordered broiler chicken alu jhol which was only oil..plz do take care to have the gravy stirred before serving, taste was also not as I have experienced before.

Always a great place. This place preserves the authentic cuisine of Odisha. That must be hell of a task. But they are doing an amazing job. It gives the feeling of home away from home feeling. Please continue such a good service.

I had ordered 2 full plates Desi chicken aloo jhola, but, going by the price, the number of pieces were less and Aloo was only in 1 plate and not in another. Although the preparation lives up to the name of Odisha Hotel, they should also take care about the quantity.
Solanki Sarkar
too oily and greasy and salty. quantity of meat is very less.
Sonali Sahu
It's been great experience always whenever I visit this place but this time we ordered chilika prawn curry and chingudi checha. These items were delicious and less oily, you can opt for it when u want healthy meal. Chingudi checha was mind blowing......Definitely worth of every penny. Thanks Odisha hotel for glorifying the authentic odia dishes.

Went there to had lunch. Ambience was nice but table size was bit small to adjust 6 people. Food was great and up to the mark. Anyone can come here to have an experience of Premium authentic Odia Thali. Best was Kakhaaru Phula Bhajaa (Pumpkin Flower Fry). Added ghee to rice to have some extra flavour and Dalma was made without onion and garlic.
Gourab Kanungo
Taste of desi chicken curry was really bad.

Ambience- The ambience is serene and lovely. The interiors engages your mind which is good if you need a timeout from the worldly things for a while.😊

Service- The service was prompt. The food was served soon after our order which is good for a Sunday afternoon. Also, we went on the day of Janamashtami so there was no rush as such.πŸ˜€

FOOD- We ordered thaalis; The basic Thaali consists of rice, dal, papad and raita.
We had ordered #DesiChickenThaali , #MuttonThaali and #Fish(Rohu)Thaali . We also ordered #HilsaJhol and for the dessert, we ordered #Kheeri.

Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Desi Chicken gravy. It was lovely. It was quite spicy just as I prefer. The preparation was lovely!!😊

The Mutton was good too.

The rohu fish was probably Andhra rohu. Didn't like it much. Also, didn't like the Hilsa fish preparation; it was pretty disappointing. πŸ˜•They can improve on that. 😊 It was probably male Hilsa. It lacked the usual taste of awesomeness of Hilsa.
It is just a personal opinion. Maybe others would like it. πŸ€”πŸ€·

But on an ending note, totally loved the Kheeri it was awesome!!πŸ˜‹πŸ˜

The food portion is filling. πŸ˜‹

All in all, it is a great restaurant for Odia cuisine. Would definitely go back for more food.😁
Went there on recommendation of an office colleague, who accompanied me for a quick dinner.

Looked pure traditional oriya restaurant and first impression was good.

We ordered for steamed rice, rohu fish in sarsongravy, paneer kaju masala, papad and baigun bhaaja. The food tasted good and well priced. Will definitely visit again.
Manmeet Bindra
The restaurant is mainly famous for its presentation and reputation. They serve the food in traditional thalis of orissa.Best and must visit place for oriya food lovers.
Breezy Unik
Gives you an authentic experience of odiya cuisine, with odiya songs playing in the background. What caught my interest was that everything was served in traditional brass utencils. The listed items on the menu are limited but still covers most of the popular dishes of odisha.
I have quite a love affair with crabs but its not that easily available in BBSR.Thank god!now I have some place to go to when I crave for some crabs. This place makes the most delicious crab curry. One plate is too much for one person, we actually had to order it in 1/2.
Mutton curry is amazing and the prawn chuttney too.
Kheeri (rice pudding) was simply delicious;not too sweet for my taste and was served in small earthen utencils.
Hope they expand the place coz it was quite limited and work on making the ambience a bit more traditional to suit the restuarant's name.
Sarah Routray
As the name suggests this place serves only Odia cuisine. I would recommend having plain rice with desi chicken kassa, papad and onion salad. Keep patience! The service is a lil slow. But the food is satisfactory!
Chinmayee Deb
True odia delicacy.. We ordered chicken aloo jhol, mushroom rai, mutton curry, rohi fish masala and undoubtedly all the dishes were amazing.. They have soothing odia music in background which enhances the place... In short full "gharoi khana"..

Over priced with average taste. Nothing exclusive about the restaurant....We tried the Mutton Thali for Rs 375 but it was just not worth the price.

First visited to attend the first wedding anniversary of an acquaintance. Khanti Odiani feel was in the air. Ambience, food, utensils & service were good. Utensils had a royal touch but were heavier than in other restaurants. Made sure my birthday celebration happened here. Kakharu phula bara & veg. thali were good. Third visit was shocking. Service was delayed. Veg. thali was modified as per availability of items. Quantity was comparatively less.

The ambience had an Traditional Oriya touch with brass utensils and Oriya songs in background. Food was okay, nothing special. Price was more than it should have been, in comparison to taste of food and quantity.

Food was delicious. If you really want to taste food of Odisha, then this hotel is for you. Properly justifying it's name as Odisha hotel. Will visit again for sure

Don't try curry items here like desi chicken curry was the worst. You may try machha besara, Kassa items, crab and few authentic Odia dishes are good. Not value for money type...
