Review Viva Goa - Candolim

Food was good. Basically its proper authentic Goan food I must say. I like their King Rawa fish fry and the fish curry gravy. Home cooked masalas that adds more flavour and the hygiene for the food. Family dining option is also available inside the restaurant. Will visit again.

The food was Yummy and amazing.. Absolutely delicious.Must try squids batter fry and chanak rawa fry. What I liked the most was the hospitality and staff. The food service was quick. Service boy was helpful and showed us the size of fish when asked to. The owner was friendly and helpful. The sitting area was clean. I would say the best restaurant to have fish in and around Calangute /Candolim with reasonable price . I highly recommend this small and friendly restaurant.10/10 You won't regret.

No one wants to read a laundry list of foods, so pick the foods that made the greatest impression on you (good or bad) and focus your writing on these dishes. Don't just say if they were good or bad. Strive to give details and reasons, naming each specific dish.

Best value for money in the area, amazing food and great staff. Highly recommended. We kept coming back through our stay.

I visited Viva Goa Restaurant and Bar with a group of friends and we were all very impressed with the food. We started with the Goan fish curry, which was delicious and flavorful. We also had the chicken xacuti, which was another highlight. For dessert, we shared the bebinca, which is a traditional Goan cake. The service at Viva Goa Restaurant and Bar was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. He made sure that we had everything we needed and he was always happy to answer our questions

The first time i had come to this restaurant i vowed to myself that will never come here...as they served watery curry with over cooked prawns....so after 2 years decided to visit again and my god i was impressed looks like the change of the cook (bawarchi) did wonders for them... hopefully they charge moderately for liquor served.

This place is on candolim calangute road. Went here to have beer with chicken chilly. The service was very quick and you can sit here for a long time gazing the busy street. Good to relax and have good time.

We've been here a few times and it's always the same - good food, chilled beer and all at a good price. And in the heat of summer this place being on the busy Candolim Road provides a reprieve from the sweltering heat.

A small roadside place filled with Russians anytime you visit. They provide you very good range of Goan cuisine which I think attracts the foreigners.

We visited Viva for dinner, the service was prompt, the food was cooked in traditional Goan style. They also provide liquor.
We ordered King Fish, Chicken Tikka Masala with some Naan. Food tasted good and was served on the go.
Since the place is small and on the roadside it is always chaos around. Not for someone who wants to chill out and have their meal in peace.
The food, was very tasty and plentiful, price was excellent, all round probably the best value for money of any of the restaurants we ate at in Goa. Staff where friendly and helpful as well. There were a couple of bones in the fried fish, but the flavour more than made up for that.

Looking at the place you wont be impressed but their service is really nice..You want to have good food with couple drinks and not burn a hole in your pocket..this is the place to be...We had the fish thali with king fish..portions were good and fry fish also good..seating is in the open on the roadside..its a nyc quaint place.. :)

Had the special fish thali. The thali was good ....regular Goan fare. Came with 2 fried fishes a bangda and a small seer fish. The chicken xacuti was not that nice and the portions were not good. Overall good thali but the rest was not good
Do you want cheap, fresh and great seafood in North Goa? Then this is a brilliant place for it!

Don't go by the low rating, maybe get the food in a takeaway packet and eat in the comfort of your room rather than the plastic chairs out on the road and I would skip the Chinese options.

My husband always always makes it a point to get his fill of fried fish at this joint, while picking up some beer cans in nearby supermarkets. Be it king fish or squid, rawa fried or sautΓ©, it is fresh and good.

In the chicken, I personally tried the ginger kebab and it was surprisingly nice. There were about 6 pieces with a good ginger flavour to it and well-cooked. With a chilled pint of bira white and a good movie on the TV in the room it was definitely the art of Goa-ing! :)

Oh and one thing I can guarantee. Whether you like the food or not, you will definitely love the prices.

After all these years not bad. Not a must do but I do end up coming to Viva Goa every time I come to Candolim. The trick is to order the right stuff. This is not a fancy restaurant. Do not spend too much time poring over the menu. Ask fresh catch of the day in a fish thali. Best is kingfish thali. Never disappoints. Chanok is another local fish not many tourists know. Over all decent place in candolim over the overpriced fishermans cove.

I came here after a friend highly recommended this place but I'm left bitterly disappointed. The quality AND quantity both are bad. We had to send back a plate of spoilt bangda reshad fry which didn't have any masala and was burnt! They charged me 300 bucks for 8 tiniest pieces of squids golden fry! Disappointed!

If you're into no fuss, well priced and amazingly delicious food, here is where you get that. The Squid Rechado is definitely the best I've had in Goa or Mumbai (and I try a lot of squid/calamari dishes). The only issue is that it's too hot to sit outside during lunch hours so I would recommend going there for dinner instead.

A place with chairs kept out side to sit and eat.. service is slow and food is not so good.. the price of sea food is on the higher side..

I would not recommend this place for food if you are on a short visit to Goa.. but it is a good stop for a drink..

This is a small and humble joint on the aguada fort road in candolim!
Typical bar ambience with round tables and plastic chairs! No air-conditioning available.

But this place serves the cheapest food in the area which is good quality as well.

We had ordered squids butter garlic, king fish curry with rice, fish thali (worth just 140 bucks!),veg fried rice and chicken kadai.

The seafood dishes were bang on the buck except the squids which did not live upto the expectations. Rest of the dishes were good enough as well.

This place is the place to be if you are On Goa and spent all your money On booze and you still want to savour authentic goan. Well otherwise as well.

Lost track of the times i have come here, a must visit for me every time i come to goa, the sea food so fresh and tasty, their Bombay duck is my favourite, just sit back and order your sea food, till date everything served was best.

Best prawn curry ever!!! Fish thali not to be missed and also met the chef. Naans very soft. Small outlet but really worth every penny πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘

One of my enduring favourites here.
First discovered it back on my first solo visit in 2012. Have visited several times ever since.

The place is simplistic with plastic chairs and no real musical vibe really. The food may look functional but is highly VFM and does the job both in quality and quantity.

The Chicken Xacuti alongside Naan is to die for, arguably the best I've had in Goa. The Prawn noodles are average.

The pricing ensures that you will keep this place in mind as an alternative for good Goan food at cheap rates. Long live viva goa!

Been coming here for the last 20 years almost. Simple place with excellent food. Have been disappointed with their hygiene as a child so now prefer going here for an early lunch. Their Chanok and Mussels shouldn't be missed. Extensive vegetarian menu as well. Ambience is just satisfactory but the taste and freshness of the food make up for that. Makes sense to take away food for a night in.
