Review Orchid Lounge - Chandigarh

if you’re looking for a tranquil escape with a perfect vintage feel and a strong emphasis on privacy, this place is a must-visit. It offers a unique and memorable experience that is sure to leave you refreshed and inspired. I can’t wait to return to this hidden gem.

Cozy place with a nice ambience. Nice choice of music (70s/80s folk, rock), and more importantly it's not too loud: just a mild background that you can hear if you lay attention to. They also have interesting themed decor. Food is decent. The place is not at all crowded. The waiters neither ignore you, nor stare at you or bother you constantly. A good low key place for a peaceful Sunday afternoon.

The aura of Orchid is rich and welcoming for a cozy meal with family and/or friends. Highly suited for corporate meals and meetings as well.

Nice classic ambience, great tasting food, though I did find it a bit on the spicier side and yes, it’s expensive. They need to work on some of the chairs as some of them were too small for some members of our group to sit comfortably. I loved their in house rum raisin icecream. And yes also recommend to try the lentil khichadi … nothing like a sick person’s meal, it’s so fragrant and comforting :)

A must visit place for its elegant interiors reminiscent of old world charm. The food is wholesome and has decent portions. A bit expensive but totally worth it when you’re spending quality time with your family and special friends

A place for the people who love officers type environment. Food is good & perfect if you’re not a fan of shor shraba wala place.

Unbelievably amazing food !! Entered this place with minimalist expectations, but was overwhelmed with the flavours and richness of food.. the clay pots were such subtly flavoured.. also, the quantity of food was great. Thanks for wonderful experience ! 🥰😍

Amazing vibe . Loved the interior and welcoming

One of my favorite place in Chandigarh is orchid lounge. It's ambiance is appealing. Guns and pistols on wall gives impression of royal place and it is like shooters club. I enjoyed Drinks and food over there. The presentation of dishes is different too. Staff is very well trained and helpful. I recommend this place as must visit place in Chandigarh.
Chef Vikas Chawla
We get delicious food with same consistency at all times. Super awesome is their Claypot, Crispy lotus stem and shepherd pie. Great job
Mukul Mukharia
Awesome place to book for an official meeting and dinner.
Jaspreet Kaur
Warm ambience, amid hunting weapons and game pictures. Awesome food, especially their oriental, which they specialise in.
Ranjit Bawa
We had a great evening yesterday! Food was amazing, loved the mogge wala mutton, the pork ribs and the Negronis! Will become our regular spot going forward!

Nice place to be. Had a quick meet up there with work friends. Loved the way the staff care about the customers.
Storyteller Chef
Like the service and ambience. Food is good but drinks are a bit overpriced .
Ramandeep Kaur
Amazing food and a very well trained staff ....the chicken pasta was Wonderful and fish and chipd
Dr.Manu Mengi
Nice ambience, great food though slightly on the costlier side. If you like Non Vegetarian then Mutton is a must if you go to Orchid Lounge. Music was little loud for my taste. Otherwise no complaints.
Anita Sood Walia
Excellent preparation.Yummy taste and nice presentation.Very filling and satisfying.Lived it,my favourite here.

Drinks are so fresh and delicious, same goes for food. Whatever you order from here you gonna love that. Drinks are so good to be true. Their ginger ale in summers is a signature drink. I am sure you will love it.
Pastas and North Indian food here are so good in taste.
This dessert in the picture is again is one of a kind, don’t remember the name, but taste so unique and delightful.
It’s totally value for money.
Must visit place place Orchid Lounge
Shaurya Jindal
Recently visited the place, unfortunately the rates have been hiked enormously and along with it the quantity of food has been reduced.
They are offering "baby naan" for an exhorbant price of RS 100, which is comparable to ,well an "adult naan" if such a thing exists
Nihar Sharma
This is the type of place where you would go for an *aristocratic* date. The decor is very classy and the vibe is something straight from a European eatry. The light music in the background is also perfect, which gets more energetic and louder, as the evening progresses.
Although the decor may be fabulous, the seating options are not all that great. The place feels congested and the chairs aren't all that comfortable. They could really work on this.

The service is decent enough. The staff is courteous and service is reasonably fast.

Coming to the main topic, the food, the menu options are quite limited. Especially for vegetarians, it is a tight spot. The food itself is good, decent portion size, good quality and satisfactory taste. There is nothing extraordinary about it, but it ticks all the right boxes. We tried the crispy lotus stem, dragon rolls and biryani, followed by their bread butter pudding (this was just delicious). They were gracious enough to prepare peanut masala also, on special demand, but it was too spicy for our liking.

They charge quite the premium for what they offer. And I can definitely think of places that offer an on-par experience, maybe even better, for lesser.

Can be visited again, sometime, if sitting and talking is your priority, and you are not too big a group.

This is one of the old-school cafes that you will love to visit again and again because of the warm and cozy interiors and the lip smacking food. I love their claypots, both chicken and veg. There will be a flood of exotic veggies that I am sure you might not have eaten in any claypot earlier. The fresh rice along side make a perfect meal for lunch or dinner. Then their award winning chocolate ice cream dessert. You must must must try that. They serve their drinks with a cherry in it and I dont know but I really like seeing that red color in every drink. Even in my mojito I had a huge bright cherry to make me smile. Absolutely love this place and food.

One our favourite watering holes. The Long Island Ice Tea is very good. The pork chops are amazing and so is the honey corn and the iceberg lettuce with chicken peppermint. Amazing also is the mutton khichdi.

A hidden gem in the sector 34 market. This place is ideal to relax and unwind since the ambience is very soothing. The interiors have been given the colonial touch with soft lighting and good music.

The staff is very courteous though the service is very slow and they take their own sweet time to prepare your order.

Coming to food, the menu is influenced by British touch. There is a lot of infusion of north Indian flavours in the classic colonial dishes which is pretty good on the taste buds. If you are looking for a true blue British cuisine experience then its the place to be as they make pretty mean british classics. There is a lot to choose from the bar menu so alcohol lovers can enjoy this place too. The distinctive feature about their bar menu is inclusion of liqueurs too which I haven’t found in many upscale lounges in Chandigarh.
From mocktails, candy crush is really yum and refreshing if you are a fan of melon like me.
MB ice tea is good since it has mango and strawberry as its base.
Peach berry ice tea is a MUST HAVE. Its enriched with flavours and is too delicious.

Thai curry is one their specialty. Its mild, full of flavours and filling and presentation is impeccable.
Thai iceberg rolls are delicious though the chicken version is too salty but the veg ones are to die for. Bangkok chicken burger is delectable thous this time the bun was hard. Water chestnuts in plum sauce is good too.
Toad in the hole us mouthwatering too.
Didn’t try the dessert though the menu had pretty amazing options to choose from.

Overall a really cool place to hangout and a good food experience though the prices are tad bit high

Hello people ! So this calm and quiet placed located in sector 34 is a option to try with a bunch of friends.

Ambience 3.5/5 ( less lighting , photo freaks won’t find a great place to click)
Food 4.5/5
Service 4/5
Staff 4/5

The food tastes good:

1. Starters - French fries and a veg platter
Veg platter ( broccoli, paneer and. Stuffed mushrooms)
Tatse : 3.8/5( bie 750/- bucks only for 3 starters is a costly)

Main course : INDIAN PLATTER ( panned dal makhani and bread . Both tasted )

So, this place won’t be budget friendly with college going teens. But one try won’t be bad for rest!

Food is first love - Kirti!

This place is walking distance from my place. Still I was introduced to it recently by a relative. It’s a well decorated classy place. Me & my hubby are totally in love with their soups, veg dal makhni & paneer platter and yummylicious khichda. Though we would want to taste other veg options on their menu as well on our next visits. Staff in courteous & service is prompt. One of my favourite places to eat in Chandigarh. Highly recommend.

A very very different lounge decor with multiple sitting options which enable you with a personalized sitting comfort.

Staff is highly trained and respectful and helps skillfully in ordering.

You would definitely relish the experience of having drinks and accompaniments at this place.
Amar
Never disappoints. Dak makhni in the platter is always delicious. Grilled fish is nice. Chicken leg and peg had the yummiest aroma. Mojito was great too.
Simran Kaur
Visited this place one evening with my friends. For starters we ordered the Irish spring rolls and chicken wings.
In the mains, we tried their butter chicken pie and Mongolian chicken. Both of them were delicious. I liked their combination of butter chicken and pie.
For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding which was also yumm.
In all the food and ambience is really good.
Ritu Khosla
The place is bery unattractively placed, but for ambience and food!
Both are good . Staff cordial, right from the gate keeper all are curteous.
Food quality is seamless.
Tried their Laksa soup, which is appeasing for Indian palate.
Dal makhani and paneer masala platter is a must try.
Another favorit on the list is mow chilli paneer. Yummy food , good experience!
Karan Gupta
Tried their mutton and other stuff from the food menu every thing was up to the mark ...will definitely visit again, good job guys .........

This is the first time that I tried this restaurant. You won’t believe me if i tell you that my mind was blowing somewhere when I entered this place. I feel like I’m not standing in India. I do love their decorative idea. Moreover, their food is up to my expectation. Staff and their hospitality are also up to the mark. What else can I see? All in all... Just perfect!!!
Periodissue
Staff : they know what they doing and how to please
Ambience: guys you got to visit and see for yourself!! Men go here and kids who just started drinking those diluted drinks go to places like social sec 7
Food : Portion size good , tasty , cost is great wrt taste and portion. The only problem is limited menu and same old menu. I have tasted everything here and two times over, so it’ll be good if they re vamp the menu , otherwise its a 5 star joint!
PS - if u classy and have a good taste , do not miss the chance
Naina Goel
Just has a cup of cappuccino. Even though the coffee was delicious, it was a bit disappointing to see that they don’t serve it with 1-2 cookies. Considering the price they are charging for a cup of coffee, I believe they should. Rest, the decor is quite nice.
Arshdeep Singh
A good place with good ambience, went there after ages, the service is good and prompt and the food was good too. Chicken tikka and clay pot chicken too was good, dessert too was wonderful.
Ankita Goyal
Some places promise you a good food experience, no matter when and how many times you visit the place. Some of my favourites here are Butter Chicken Pie, Club sandwich, Tandoori Tikka Platter, Claypot chicken and Chicken pepper salt.

Only negative - mocktails are very disappointing. And no choice of sandwiches.

Quick service and friendly staff.
Ravjit Kaur
Amidst all the official hub n hustle in that area...it’s a relaxing n beautiful place to chill.loved their orchid water chestnuts and chicken tikka Caesar salad...worth trying!
Been to this place couple of times for its vintage experience. Ordered Chicken clay pot with rice which is a novelty & well balanced with flavors. Tried Dak Bungalow leg and peg that was presented with a quirky twist and was true to taste. Staff is well groomed and always happy to help. They need to venture into new food stories to woo more punters :)
Vidisha Bhatnagar
got a chance to visit this place for lunch. this place has beautiful interiors and a very cozy feeling to it. the furniture is vintage and the whole place looks like a Grandma's bunglow in some hill station. the whole feel of the restaurant is very unique and mesmerizing. the good is delicious and served piping hot. we ordered chicken clay pot which was served hot and super delicious. interestingly the clay pot was still hot even after 20-25 min of being served. the other dish we ordered was chicken. leg and peg was basically tandoori grilled chicken with hot wine pored from top at the time of service. it was extremely exotic and super delicious. I loved the ambience and the food and would love to visit again soon.
Parul Narwar
This place has a beautiful ambience that takes you back in time. Nice, quiet and well decorated.
Went there for coffee and cheesecake.
The cold coffee was pretty good.but the cheesecake was kind of stale and the base wasn't as crunchy as I'd hoped it would be.

Awesome food, love the Chinese preparations... The mutton khichada is a must try... My all time favourite comfort dish is the Claypot Lamb... Nice antique interiors and low light ambience... The cocktails and the mock tail mixes are thoughtful preparations... Well elaborated menu with variations suitable for everyone's taste... Lovely place for first dates and Classic dining for family and friends... My overall favourite!!

Food was awesome. Tried their mushroom burgers, they were really excellent. Ambiance is great. They had some good collections of alcohols. Will try them next time. Also, had Veg pot that too was good. Staff was good and the service was quick.

Worth Eat
worth__eatOrchid Lounge, Sector - 34
.
ORDERED:
1. Fried chocolate.
.
REVIEW:
Yes, you read that right. That's fried chocolate!
At orchid lounge this dessert seemed very fascinating. Come on, it's chocolate and to top that, it's fried!
They have a few varieties of chocolate in their menu like:
.
• Toblerone
• Mars
• Kit Kat
• 5 Star

It's mostly a piece of your favourite chocolate that has been coated with a light and crispy batter and deep fried. It's served along with vanilla ice cream. That ice cream is more of a necessity that just another addition to the dish because fried chocolate in itself is quite dense, the ice cream balances that out. I had ordered Kit Kat for some reason but I do want to try how mars would be fried.
.

Do try it at least once because it's different and then decide if it's worth the calories.

My mind says it's house of diabetes but my heart can't get enough of it.

#food #instafood #yum #delicious #instalove #foodie #foodgasm #foodstagram #yummy #foodporn #chandigarh #delhi #mumbai #love #instagood #london #l4l #f4f #likeforlike #followforfollow #punjab #potd #foodlover #goodfood #india #ludhiana #amritsar #chocolate #icecream
Snapchat ID: wortheat

Fabulous place , amazing interior it's the another branch of famous Backpacker.Had veg pasta arriabiata and cold coffee which was quite good though for vegetarians like me choices are less it's more of a kind for non veg and drinks but still quality of veg is also good , courteous staff one more plus point.

A perfect place to drink and chat with friends. Good service, warm and courteous staff, good ambience and brilliant food. One of my favourite places to chill with my close friends.

Corn pepper salt is a good accompaniment with drinks. Love their Butter chicken pie. Highly recommended.

Wunderbar Restaurant. Ambience gives you tinge of elegant old British style interiors . Service takes lil time but "sabar ka fal meetha hota hai" , they prove it . Quantity of either dish might be more for an individual , specially pastas . Their food literally tastes what they mean on their menu card . Not just the presentation and taste is worth all praise , also the appearance and cutlery. You must try their home made chocolate with ice cream. It was recommended to me by one of the best critic of chocolate . You might need to make prior reservations and for a time being , alcohol is not being served . Courteous staff with a genuine smile on their face. They put best of their efforts in all kind of cuisines . Feels like they have best of all cuisines in the town . Gonna visit again, soon :)

Went to this place with friends.. The ambiance was great with all the guns and paintings all over the place.. The food and service were good but the food preparation time could have been better since there wasn't much crowd.. So, if you are really hungry and need something in 10-15 minutes, this might not be the place for you but if you are there to spend time with family with atleast 30-40 minutes to spare, this is a great place.. Recommendation is to order most of food together so that by the time you are done with first, the next item is ready.. We ordered Tofu Satay, Kung Pao Chicken, Chicken Dal Bungalow Biryani plate, Chicken Tikka Masala Platter and Shikari Mutton Seekh.. I have not tasted this kinda Chicken Tikka for a long time.. Must try.. Overall good experience..

The oriental dishes, the Moge walla meat and the desserts... Mind blowing!!!! Greek burger... nothing Greek about it. The sauce was missing, the lamb was too dry and the fun of eating a burger was taken out by giving bite sized burgers.

The mocktail menu is quite limited and misses on the favourites like virgin Mojito etc and even the soup options were very few. The whole ambience and feel of the place though, makes it worth a visit.

P.S I was giving a 3 rating but extra 1 is because of the brilliant baked cheese cake. Just the right amount of sweetness, right amount of syrup and perfect balance of sourness... Superb!

Best oriental food in town. Love their thai red curry. Perfect consistency and taste. Veggies were very fresh. Must try if you are in chandigarh

The ambience was great. (4.5/5 - there is always a room for improvement), service (4.5/5 serving staff was very cordial and helpful). But sadly the same could not be said about the food (2/5).

We ordered:
1. Baked fish which was good but the side dishes were cold (the veggies and potato mash served alongside were not fresh).
2. Chicken Steak - that was not good at all. I give this dish a mere 2 out of 5. The chicken was overcooked and was stiff as rubber and was cold when it got to our table.
3. Salad served was not fresh at all (1/5)
As an admirer of whispering willows and backpackers, I had come with high expectations but unfortunately, was hugely disappointed.
I urge you to kindly bring about some changes in the menu (current menu seems a bit of drag), and kitchen staff.

Thank you.
Lígia Prix
Good drinks, good food, excellent music and ambience! What else do you need?! Oh and they have the best Long Island Ice Tea of the city too!
The very BIG negative point was the washroom sink. Very dirty and seems like it hasn't been scrubbed in ages! Please people, such a fancy pub! Washroom should be spotless clean!
Kirti Valecha
It was my first visit here..its very neatly built..just pure vintage alongwith with well furnished sophisticated seating..the food was also yummy...its a must visit for everyone
Pathania
Decor is nice , staff is polite , the seating in my opinion was a bit low for a sit in dining restaurant ,wasn't too uncomfortable though , perhaps lounge kind of dining experience is like this only . Bar takes centre stage and is huge .We were here for a quick bite , ordered Lamb Khichdi , that was nice and the salad accompaniments and extra garnish adequate . The waiter carried in 3 drinking glasses in his hand rather than a tray ,perhaps the habit of carrying beer mugs ! The plates could be a bit better that's a suggestion only ,not a complaint . Will check out the place in detail some other time , seems intriguing enough to come back .
Anjora Sarangi
Orchid Lounge is a great place to drink in Chandigarh. You'll also get some good accompaniments to go with your drinks like chilli chicken and mixed fries. The ambience is very chilled out and music is usually good. Chairs are comfy. It makes for the perfect place for long conversations.
Devarshi Sengupta
Please understand that this place has a great ambience and prompt service, but for students... I would recommend you to walk in with a stuffed wallet. The food menu, although unique, has limited options to choose from and the quantity of 1 dish can be deemed equivalent to 1-2 persons max. Otherwise the ambience is worth the visit, and make sure to help yourselves to some drinks while you are at it( alcoholic and non-alcoholic both are good).
Anubrat Kumar
Class and taste in a tranquil botique resturant😊. Love their decor n attentive staff. Everything we ordered were up to mark and much in quantity. Left full n satisfied.
Manjot Multani
The stuffed keema naan is the best here. Though i also ordered the birmingham fish tika here. Effortless to say, i left this place heavily stuffed and foodgasmed. So do give it a try.
Amanpreet Kaur
Orchid Lounge is a place with great ambience and the best thing to eat there is the Wall of Chocolate. Its yummmm!!

Coming to the other food items
Veg platter okayish
Veg claypot had 4 star anise in a portion n dollops of soya which made it taste very bad. May be it was a bad day to have it. We were a bunch of girls and not one liked it.

Tom yum soup again ok.
Pasta was yummy.

Grilled fish I heard was great.

One winner that made our day
Wall of chocolate

Must have
Metallica
keema naan is my favourite to the place .. Again back backers family .. Good renovation don't came after long time .. Nicely done interiors ... Food is also good
Ishata Gupta
I ordered Spring rolls-cream and corn and a watermelon cooler to drink.the menu is certainly overpriced but the food was tasty and so was the drink :)
The interiors are charming.. give you a feel of sitting in a vintage living room with An English Pub next to you.. So a good place to unwind after a tiring day, sip a cooler, have a lil something.. (Because more than that might burn a hole in your pocket :P )
JD
Have been there a couple of times there food is usually good!!! It's a cozy place with very good service!!! There honey chilly potato is awesome but steaks are not all that great!!! Cocktails are good!!
Esha
Orchid lounge had amazing food and drinks. The people were very nice and I must mention again the food was delicious. I had the grilled fish a mocktail and the toffee dessert. The grilled fish was light and yum. The mocktail was very nice and the dessert was just heaven.

So this place not only got a makeover, the menu did as well. The winged armchairs, suede sofas and wooden flooring adds a rustic charm.Once knows for its pan Asian delicacies , the place has succumbed to the trending fusion cuisine as well.
Amongst the fusion favs have tried the mutton khichada, moge waala mutton burrah, butter chicken pie and good ol chilli chicken .
Must say the quantity portions are just right. Although have two complaints,on several occasions the mutton khichada is overtly salty and just wish they would give curd to balance the flavor. Although love the condiments they already serve with it such as desi ghee, coriander ,green chilli , chopped onions and tomato.
The moge waala mutton is nice and tender pieces of meat in a rich gravy. Totally fancy the name though ;) .
The problem with the butter chicken pie is the pie stuffing is somehow always cold.
What remains standard is the comfort food and comfort factor the whispering willows group is renowned for . Although my personal favourite remains backpackers yet this place is a nice change from the mall too.
Generally deserted during lunch hours this place somehow converts itself into a lounging pub with loud music by the weekend nights.
Thats My Food
One of the worst places I've been to in a very long time.. They have variety in their menu, i give them that.. I ordered a bowl of a dish with lamb in it.. It tasted like something that should not be served in a restaurant.. It's really overpriced.. Not at all value for money.. All in all i did not like one thing in this restaurant..
Anindita Tamuli
Utterly original food and an English pub ambiance put together makes this place wonderful. The food portions are huge and their cocktails pack quite a punch.
Their clay-pot meals, and British dishes are a must-try.
Nameeta
Some places you just feel in love with at one go and this was one of the place for me. I have seen it many times but just not landed there. Finally I did and yes it a wee bit small but it gives you warm and comfortable feeling which makes it a nice place to sit have some drinks, food and chit chat with some good company.
This chain of eatery has always been good with food and drinks which they do and good part is each venue has something different to offer. This one is more on lines of English pub. Coming to food we tried some Veg Irish spring rolls which was nicely filled with cheese and corns and not oily at all. Tried some beer battered onion rings not bad but the sauces which it was accompanied with were amazing' there was one red one and I liked it very much. In non veg we had chilli chicken well cooked and right amount of spice and a dish called leg and peg. The name got me hooked on it. It was actually roasted tangri and they do flambé on the table so the peg part (nice touch) the chicken was cooked to perfection.
In drinks I tried wine sparker in which they converted white wine to red by adding berries and a hint of vodka not bad but next time I would rather have the red wine directly itself lol. The cucumber cooler was also good.
So this place is defiantly on my list for more visits. Keep up the good work.
Munishbakshi
These guys renovated and changed the menu. Miss my laksa soup 😈 . even though the new menu is a ready mix already available at any other restaurant and made to perfection but simply does not fits into the old name . I am annoyed with the management.
Simran
Ambiance - Their interiors are absolutely amazing. I could go here again and again only for their ambiance.

Food - Their menu was a huge disappointment for me since they lacked variety in vegetarian options. Though whatever we ordered turned out to be delicious and great in quantity.

After a long time we visited Chandigarh for 1 day then go for dinner at Orchid Lounge. We visited 1st time this restaurant it's a bar cum restaurant, great ambiance with good music, little bit expensive. If you want to chill with your friends and want to enjoy some drinks so its a good option.
We order Birmingham Fish Tikka, Stuffed Naan & Gravy Keema Mutton, Amazing Rose, The Pink Fresco and Heinekin Beer. Actually we want to order something in Lamb but they don't have anything in gravy dish of Lamb. Well Fish Tikka was good well cooked and delicious and stuffed Naan and gravy keema is also good and drink was also.
Shrish Lal
1st time here... Till now fish n chips was not good... Dry fish! Let's see have ordered the Toad in the hole next! Ambience & music is good.
Sabarna
The ambience is one of the best seen in Chandigarh. The menu is quite exotic, and food is actually worth every cent spent, even if priced on the higher side. Prawns are exquisite. And if nothing, then the chocolate wall with vanilla is un missable.
Sudhir Mani
Great music. Amazing ambience. Good food. The tandoori mushroom starter was one if the best i've ever had. The butter chicken pie was superb as well. The thai green curry could have been a little better, but good nevertheless.
The place is a bit on the pricier side though.
Neeti Gupta
First visit post renovation as a pub. One of the more restful places in the city, like their menu changes with most ol favourites being retained. Nice soup though not absolutely authentic but thai curry pretty much the winner. Tom yum salad needs more bite, passable at best. Loved the tuille in the great chocolate mousse and rounded off with impeccable coffee. What stands out is service n comfort, along with old favourites playing in the background

This used to be a great place. They have in the last year changed the menu and the decor. Shame. It now looks tacky, there are fake stuffed animal heads on the walls, the bar area takes up a lot of space ( but you still don't get your drinks served any quicker ), and the staff look like they are wearing fishing vests. Neither cool, kitsch, or hunting lodge, just tacky.

The cocktails are amazing, do try them. But the food is a real mixed bag, some great dishes were taken off the menu to be replaced with heavy stodgy foods. The phuket fish that used to be delicious is now awful. It tasted like fried fish skin, was there fish in that batter? who knows? The lamb ribs though were yummy but the fried chocolate was gross.

So this place is a bit hit and miss, some good some bad. Best to find dishes you like and stick to them.

The great thing here is the staff. Attentive, friendly, and professional. They were very impressive.

Ashish Sanan
Excellent decor with a lot of classy woodwork, wall pieces, great interiors and ambience.
All the Claypot dishes are really good along with the pasta. The fish in butter sauce in my opinion is one of the highlights on the menu.
Burgers seem to be a bit of a waste of money (presentation way better than taste) as you can't taste the primary ingredient advertised in any of the burgers. Not able to taste mushrooms or paneer at all in respective burgers.
Service takes a hell of a long time (up to 1 hour) although that can be attributed to the place being jam packed every night.
Can't comment on Desserts as didn't try any.
As a suggestion, recommend serving complimentary starters in the long waiting time.
Amanpreet Singh Longia
The interior of this place is really good but there is something about this place which makes it a little boring types. Otherwise its a good place to sit around with good quality food.

I visited this romantic restaurant a few years back. It was a pleasure. We had soup which was so authentic that I still remember the taste. The ambience is so attractive.

Missed the old menu when all oriental/asian food was so good and authentic. The mash of menu does not do justice. We ordered Keema Naan, quite pathetic gravy and Naan were not filled up properly. The food was very ordinary and thanks to the ambience it made it palatable.

On the positive side the service was good and so was the wine.

Sorry to see such a good restuarant offer such low quality food.

This place has good ambience, with feel like home decor. Just like London Restaurants. This place is nearby Office so it was our first preference, so me and my friend went for Lunch, and we had to call for Service, after waiting for some time, then they placed Menu and disappear. So After deciding we ordered for Paneer Shashlik. It was Ok, we ate all big slices with green chutney to appease ourselves. Then Veg Clay Pot meal arrived.
Veg Claypot meal was good with exotic vegetables, Cheese and Rice.
However this time their service was not upto mark, we had to call them for Water then for Check-out. They have to improve their Service

Just reopened after a lengthy renovation. Some of the favourites like cherry chicken, ribs and banana crepes are missing form the menu. New additions are good too. Good food ambiance is excellent as always. Keeps the old charm and still remains fresh.
It's one of the most underrated places in Chandigarh owing to the location of this place thus it remains visually hidden. Keeping the location aside the place is elegant classy yet chic with the oriental selection of menu. Wooden antique furniture with country music playing in the background adds to the ambience of the place. Weekends are generally flooded with the regulars and the food is to die for. Try the wall of chocolate in the end of your main course!!

Am not a can of oriental cuisine, but i loved the food at orchid lounge. The crackling spinach, date pancakes with ice cream and the great wall of chocolate will make u go back to the place. Even the vodka tubby drink is amazing. The ambience is very nice with rich looking furniture and tapestry. A nice place to have an unwinding meal.

After visiting Thailand I never thought I'll ever be able to taste true Thai cuisine again. Going through zomato I saw this place and decided to go there and was surprised by the authenticity of their Thai and Chinese cuisine. Any other restaurant serving these cuisines serves an Indian version of the dishes but this place has maintained the originality of the taste.
Although the ambience is quite and sober but it could be better. You won't see a lot of crowd on all the days but don't let that fool you. I would suggest it as a must visit places in Chandigarh.

Tired of the same usual dinner hangouts, I suggested good old Orchid lounge for dinner. we were a group of eight and the majority of us were feeling for Chinese/ Thai so a bulb lit up above my head and I said' Orchid lounge' :)

1. I have always loved the ambiance of this place. Gives me a feel as if I have entered my extended drawing room. It has that old English decor. Gives this feel of warmth, perfect for this kind of weather.
The lounge area was full. You have to book in advance to reserve space in the lounge area, expecially on weekends. The dining are was comparatively empty.

2. The service was not how it used to be. The servers were not as pleasant or as fast as before. ( when I say 'before' I mean about a couple of years back).

3. the food was average. I used to love their Thai stuff but strangely their 'pad Thai' was 2.5/5. All their starters that we ordered :crispy corn, lotus stems, and some other stuff (I can't remember the names) were deep fried and gave a very stale, non -fresh feeling. Maybe it was because we didn't order our usual stuff, I don't know.
The good parts: their green Thai curry was yum. We ordered something like an American chopsuey (since one of our foreign return friends wanted some 'pure Indian Chinese' :) )which was also good. So was their fish sizzler, veggies in black bean sauce and Hakka noodles.

4. They only had two things available for desert (hate it when there is less choice) so we went for their chocolate wall. This was exactly like it has always been ( 4/5).

Overall, despite some gtitches, this place is still better than a lot of its counterparts in the city. The best part is still their lounge area and thai food. I'll be sticking with my usual order next time and hopefully the results are better.

Great food. Limited wine. Laid back music. Good sitting.

Nice enough restaurant serving good oriental food. For a very long time definitely one of the better places in town, very nicely done up and comfy especially the outside section with couches. Great place to come with a group of friends as their music is not loud and you can actually talk without shouting. Their starters are quite good I remember their Lotus stem was very tasty, their Chicken Satay was quite good too, the Konjee Crispy lamb was decent too. I don't particularly remember the main course but it was decent enough. For a long time this has been a nice place to chill out and have a few drinks in a not so noisy setting perfect for a Gen X'er, I'd classify it as Chandigarh's only proper lounge bar.

Orchid Lounge is without doubt the best Chinese/ Oriental joint in town.

Owned by the same people who own the Backpackers cafe, this place does not have a typical chinese restaurant look which can be quite intimidating. Its located conveniently in Sector 34 and has an ample parking space in front of it.

There are two sections in Orchid Lounge, the outside section is a lounge section with a relaxed seating on Couches and easy chairs with a bar and the second portion on the inside is a full service sit down restaurant.

To fully enjoy this place you must have your drinks and starters in the lounge on the outside, this place would give you a feel of a London pub, with all its wood and attics like antique clocks, its done tastefully and you would enjoy the collection of wines here. Some of the best starters here include the crispy corn , my favorite. You can try the raw papaya salad which is quite nice too. Everything can be customized in terms of spice. You must enjoy this place, sit back and relax, the music here is quite awesome, its usually light western instrumental and classical.

The main course is top notch and tastes quite fresh and I really enjoyed the Pan fried noodles and also the chilly peanut sauce with veggies. The thai tit bits are awesome and is very authentic. The desert menu is quite exhaustive and I loved Darsaan with Ice cream.

Have no doubts, this is the best Chinese restaurant in Chandigarh by a distance. Go for it, over and over again

Must haves: Crispy corn with pepper and salt.

The moment you walk in, you feel like you just entered into a European living room. There are three areas in the house - Restaurant, Bar and Lounge. The interiors are lovely and thats what sets it apart from the other fine dining restaurants in the area. The ambience is a perfect culmination of both rustic and fine flavours. Music played compliments the aura.

Oriental cuisine dominates the meal offerings. Everything and by that I mean EVERYTHING is top notch in preparation standards. Now that is a major pat on a restaurant's kitchen. To top it all, the service is excellent on account of the well trained and courteous staff.

Restaurants in planes serving high quality and well prepared seafood are a rarity. Orchid Lounge definitely falls into the rarer chunk and dishes out exquisite seafood preparations.

My compliments to the chef and Cheers to the owner for providing Chandigarh with such a delightful Oriental dining experience. I enjoyed a romantic evening at your place with my beau and it has been etched into our life as a lovely memory ever since.

My Tip: Put on a blindfold and finger point at anything in the menu to order. Relive your childhood at this beautiful, impeccable taste assuring fine dining.

Orchid Lounge is a quiet little oriental lounge and restaurant in Sector 34 serving great oriental food in a place with great ambience.

The Lounge part of Orchid Lounge is delightfully done and the music playing is mostly Elvis or The Beatles (Last time I visited it was just Elvis). They also arrange for live musicians from time to time, the best of the lot being Hari and Sukhmani.

The selection at the Bar is impressive and even if they don't have a drink on the menu, they are more than happy to learn from you and accomodate you.

The food selection, even for the Bar Lounge, is mainly oriental. The Tom Kha soup is the best I have had anywhere in the city. The Lemon Fish is very well prepared and Lettuce Wraps are something I order EVERY time I go there. Their preparation of Dim-Sums is also pretty good and they serve a mean Pad-Thai, another all time favourite of mine.

I am not a great fan of the restaurant section itself so I mostly end up eating in the lounge section. Though the restaurant section can use an upgrade in terms of interiors, the Lounge section is perfect and Orchid Lounge is a great place to visit.

Perhaps the best oriental food experience in Chandigarh. Loved the dimsum soup.. Sumptuous and filling! The lettuce wraps and Kothe were really good. The service was excellent as well. Will come back for more!

Orchid lounge is a quiet fine dining restaurant in Sector 34. I went there for a friends birthday and was delighted by their service, food and ambiance. The interior is based on the classic living room concept. The service seemed good, quick and courteous. They serve mostly oriental food and it was good and the best part was its presentation. All in all I found it to be a complete package. The flaw, I personally found it a little oddly located towards the inside of 34. But on a whole was a good experience.
Ps: Do try "Great wall of chocolate". Its sinfully amazing.
