Review The Back Room - Chandigarh

Anmol Rattan Bagai
Back Room has an amazing ambience with good music. I have visited multiple times and have always enjoyed the experience. Try to book your table in advance if you want to get outdoor seating. The angithis give the place a very cozy vibe. The food is always good. They have an extensive cocktails menu. If you like cocktails do give their signature cocktails a try.

The Ambiance and the vibe of the place is very good, the music played there also added to the magic. Good place for friends to hangout. The non veg platter and mutton seek kabab was amazing. The only downside was the availability of the beer only two brands were available.

This is my favourite cafe/bar in Chandigarh. It is beautiful it is warm it is calm and very welcoming you can sit relax and spend quality time without getting bored. Never been to a cafe/bar so calm yet so vibrant. I'm almost always there the cocktails and the nachos are my favourite. My favourite is the Espresso Martini 💌

Lovely ambience. Excellent food. Quick serving. Friendly staff. Vast serving quantity of appetizers. Can easily be shared among 4 people. Would love to visit this place again!

Kinda nice place with good ambience. Visited this place at an odd hour of the day with an old friend so the place was completely empty but the food was good and we had a great time as we had a lot of things to catch over. Don’t know if it’s popular among the crowd or not but it’s worth trying. You won’t be disappointed.

Peaceful during daytime and amusing during evenings. It is at the backside of Toy Hotel. Positives: lovely ambiance inside and as well as the outside of the restaurant. The greenery around it really plays a soothing role. Humble and professional staff with relatively fast service. Some food items are exceptionally good. Chicken Tikka is recommended. Negatives: There are hardly any negatives, but I’ll pin point a few. In my opinion, the prices are a bit on expensive side, especially the prices of liquor. Overall, I do recommend this place, especially for a date.

The Food is Great, Ambience gives the feeling of a Jazz Club. I think that this cafe should be given a full makeover of a Jazz Club. And also, Witty Liquor Menu Items Names and Description 😋

The Back Room is first speak easy bar of Chandigarh. It offers unique cozy vibe with great lighting. Tandoori Momos are love. These are the best tandoori momos you can have in Chandigarh, period. ♥️ Cocktails are a must try. Every cocktail has a different taste and some kickass twist to them.

The human mind is designed to release endorphins when a person discovers something new. This is precisely what happened to me and my fellow foodies when we discovered - The Back Room. Tucked behind Toy Hotel in Sector 34, this place goes undiscovered by most. Just walk behind Toy Hotel and you'll reach the gates of wonderland. Designed to reflect the old world charm of British era pubs, complete with wood, leather and blacks, The Back Room is anything but a room. We were a group of about 12 eatlings and we crashed here on the invitation of Angad Singh, the owner of the place. Our menu, was designed to expose the finest that this place has to offer. And so it did. The extravaganza on this Sunday afternoon, began with a box of spicy barbecued peanuts. Presented in a black box with the Back Room logo, these were pretty good. The next two tidbits that came in were Layered Greek Dip and Sun Dried Tomato & Feta Dip. Usually when you go to restaurants, the portion of pita or garlic bread outshines the quantity of dip that comes along. At this place, it is just the opposite. The dip outweighed the accompaniments. I would make a special mention of the sun dried tomato and feta dip. It tasted divine and you could actually taste the cherry tomatoes which were neither over powering, not underwhelmed for a dip. I usually do not like tomato based dips/sauces but this one stood out. Next came the Broccoli with Stuffed muschroom tikka. Served on skewers, these had a melt in the mouth consistency which is rare for a vegetarian tikka. The tandoori momos that came next were very unique and extremely flavourful. Unlike their steamed cousins from the land of thukpa, these were Punjabified to perfection. And I mean, in a very very good way. Presented for the a-la-meat bunch, the Saigon Summer Rolls were gorgeous with chicken and vegetables wrapped in a delicate and translucent shell that exposed just enough colours to attract the hungry bees that hovered around it. Another show stopper was the Kaffir Char Grilled Fish. I must point out that the Back Room specializes in presentation. I've rarely seen food presented this good in the tricity region. But unlike places where presentation scores way above quantity and taste, the Back Room hits a home run on taste and quantity as well. Now, all this while, we were served with some of the most amazingly presented mocktails (this place specializes in cocktails but as a bunch we opted to avoid being tipsy). The photographs with this review should give you a fair idea of the beauty of these drinks. And though they took quite a long time to serve, the result was well worth the wait. I was presented with a Lemon Ginger mocktail in a bottle with mint leaves and no, this was not lemon soda in case you're wondering. The lemony tang and the spikey ginger was a great combination. More importantly, this was done well. The same mocktail was also presented to one of the eatlings in a dry ice laden bowl which fumed its way to glory on the table. There was also a watermelon based mocktail which looked equally amazing. The menu at this place comprises up of platters featuring an assortment of goodies from world cuisine. So, don't expect to get a Dal Makhni and Chicken Rahra here. But this is what is great about the place. Your platters offer you exquisite taste from regions afar. So, for the main course, the first thing that landed was a missile from Maharashtra - Misal Pav. I hate most of what Maharashtrian cuisine has to offer. Hate me for saying this, but most of it is overly spiced, laden with oil and offers practically nothing in terms of taste. And so, seeing Misal Pav on the menu, had me in fits already. But what came was quite decent actually. I won't give it any marks because I hate the dish in the first place, but the Back Room version was atleast flavourful and more imporantly edible for this particular dish. Next up was the Iranian Berry Pulao, an amazing biryani of sorts that was laden with cashews, golden brown onion shards, all mixed in with a delicate amalgamation of vegetables cooked with mild spices. It was divine and by itself, is quite the dish. The Salan Kofta served on skewers, dipped in gravy with shredded pieces of onion kulcha was amazing as well. For the non vegetarians, there was the Chicken Skewers with Choori Roti. This is the Back Room's version of Butter Chicken that is not typical and yet offers the taste, all wrapped up in a uniquely new experience. The Tofu Mein were essentially noodles presented with a tofu based tangy vegetables on top that were quite flavourful. The tofu pieces were crispy and perfectly done. The other side were presented with the Chilli Chicken Mein. The last and final dish was the Hummus B'lahmeh, a traditional middle east delicacy comprising up of lamb chunks in a bed of hummus served with pita shards. I can't offer any taste advice on this being a vegetarian but as a former hardcore meat eater, the sight was an absolute delight. I'm sure my meatling friends would concur with me on this. If the main course represents the excitement of reaching the summit, the desserts offer the pleasure of closing your eyes and experiencing the serenity of the moment, a sweet and obsessive feeling that is hard to let go. Our desserts menu started with Gulab-e-Laden. Read 'Laden' in English and not as in Osama - bin - you get the idea! For the first time in my life, did I see a torus shaped gulab jamun and it was served with gulkand flavoured ice cream. This was an outstanding dessert to say the least. Next came the TBR Kulfi. Quite like the standard malai falooda kulfi, this was presented in a glass bowl with dry ice fumes setting the ground for an incredible experience. Overall, The Back Room is a hidden gem in this tricity. It is a treasure waiting to be discovered and this is much of what it is founded on. The staff serves with a smile which is always an added plus. I'm cutting 1 mark for the fact that the vegetarians including myself, were not served too well. The servers would end up extinguishing the vegetarian platters across the table, before it reached the vegetarians. The distribution of dishes across the table was not even and we couldn't taste a few things and had to specially ask them to get it which was embarrassing at the end. The crusted beetroot bonbons are one such example. It never arrived on my side of the table. And the Tofu Mein had to be requested, which arrived after all the plates were removed for the desserts. The servers need to recognize the vegetarians from the non-vegetarians after they serve the first round and then give preference to them whilst serving vegetarian dishes. Despite the lack of synchronization in serving the dishes, I would still rate this place extremely high on the overall experience index and would highly recommend it. The food is incredible, is presented in an outstanding way and the ambiance adds to the mix to create an excellent experience. The place also plays host to indie bands, performers and artists from all over. This is quite a USP and is not like the typical experience you get at Peddlers and other places. The performers here are carefully selected and managed by an organization exclusively for this place. Try the Back Room experience. I know I will be back very soon, for more. Angad, you're doing a terrific job running this place. Highly Recommended! UPDATE : I went there again to sample their Som Tam salad (Thai Raw Papaya Salad) and I can confidently say that it was as close to what I found in Thailand as it could've been. I love Som Tam so imagine my excitement!

Until Next Order
Well that visit was a random one and quite surprising. We were drenched in rain and the weather was amazing. People were smoking in the outside open seating and dim lights inside made it a perfect place and weather for a date evening.<br/><br/>Coming on food we ordered a farmhouse pizza and mushrooms jalapeno rolls which are not available in menu currently ( i guess )<br/>The food was good although the quantity was okayish<br/><br/>Ratings would be as under:<br/>- food - ⭐⭐⭐⭐<br/>- quality - ⭐⭐⭐⭐<br/>- ambience - ⭐⭐⭐⭐<br/>- service - ⭐⭐⭐⭐<br/>- quantity - ⭐⭐⭐<br/>- price - ⭐⭐⭐<br/><br/>Overall it was a good experience and worthy of re-visiting.

When you walk in, it feels like you've walked into an English Pub. The menu is creative and the food I got was amazing. a place u must try. highly recommend this place for a night out.

It has amazing vibe and delicious food.

we ordered vegetarian sizzeler, and the waiter served us non veg sizzler and was unaware about the food. Big blunder on there part ..... very disappointed with the place.

Visited this place a few days back and ordered margarita, farmhouse pizza and coffee. Margarita was yummy but their farmhouse pizza kind of ruined the taste.

Calm place to visit<br/>One should try with friends and family whenever possible.<br/>It is not little expensive but worth it.

It was a Saturday night... the place is tiny ... not well light ... food was average for the fact that it had a good zomato rating. Nothing special

Went for my birthday with family really decent food and we felt the place to be to our liking in terms of ambiance , friendly staff too , though a bit slow on service had some of their cocktail chests very interesting presentation . Thumbs up keep it up
Foodie On A Mission
The Back Room is a good place to visit with friends. The place is quite dark but the food as well as the service were quite good. The tandoori momos, recommended by the staff was worth trying.

Wanted to visit this place from a long time and the experience was definitely worth it when i finally did. The chicken biryani they served was delicious and the chicken sizzler was lip smacking too. The chocolate dessert was one of the best i've ever had.

Went to The Back Room with not a lot of expectations. It is actually a little in the corner restaurant at the back side of the main shopping area, with good outdoor setting though. But the indoor mileau is all too dull and lightless, infact you need a candle light to see your food. So I didn't really like the overall setting of the place. But anyway went ahead and ordered food since I was with family and already pretty late in the night.<br/><br/>We ordered Laal Maas, Skewers (cottage cheese) and Sindhi Biryani. Must confess, in contrast to the overall ambience the food was really nice. Infact I ordered the Laal Mass twice since it was so delicious. Biryani was equally mouth watering with chicken just the right cooked and lovely aroma to the whole Biryani. I really liked the food. Expect them to up the overall experience of the place which will definitely serve them well. Thanks 🙂

It’s always a great Experience here. The food is delicious, the ambience is so good... The staff is very humble... This time it was who took a great care of us, not even us but also he was very attentive about what other.
Hardy Sandhu
Food that we had is just a small part of the Peshawri food menu. A lot to explore on the next visit. Properly cooked kabab nan and black dhal bhukara taste is out of this world. Finish your meal with the kulfi.
Brij
My review is totally based on my personal experience with its bar menu and Its ambience. So, I really liked the place as I walked in until mosquitoes starting giving me a hard time to sit. There were bugs flying around. Mosquitoes biting on my feet. Beer price is way too expensive for a place like that. Service was fair enough. I literally had to move out without having food but it was really annoying. I hope they will take this seriously and improve in that area.
Aanya Verma
Definitely my go to place for drinks. They make the best cocktails in Chandigarh hands down. <br/>The staff here is attentive and the bartenders know exactly what you need. <br/>1. Hugo Chandon is the best thing <br/>2. Dilli Mule perfect for summers <br/>3. All their Gin and Tonics are amazing <br/><br/>Pair it with lemongrass chicken satay and you are sorted
Brar
Love the vibes and aroma...<br/>Really classic interior.<br/>The employees are really very professional<br/>And the food is so yummy<br/>Must try non veg & 🍻🍻

Every dish we ordered was yum however, special mention for the lemon chilly butter prawns and the cottage cheese with nest noodles which are a MUST try. The interiors are beautifully done as well. Incase, you are looking for a relaxed brunch option , head to this place

Place has real amazing feel. Best time to visit us night. The interiors have their different feel.<br/>Very nice place to click so really good pictures.<br/>Food here is ok not very happy with a very slow service but staff is really friendly.

This place is awesome. With European ambiance and lesser footfall with soothing music this is the place where u can go and spend quality time with your near and dear ones. It’s different from other noisy places in the town who do sound pollution on the name of local or in house bands. Is a place that gives you a quality time with a nice selection of drinks .absolutely loved it .
Harqanwal
This place has a peaceful vibe with it that feels too good . I visited there at night and instantly fell in love with the place. Food was delicious too , more than I expected. <br/>Overall it’s a must visit place
Helsha Kian
the best place which offers an amzing veg biryani with a jack daniels whoopie burger, love love love the place, in awe of the food quality ambience wise is ok but for the food quality no one can beat them.
Ankita
Back room is a place catering to a very exclusive crowd. I have watched football world cup finals 2018, and usually come here for a good decent glass of drink and enjoy the vibe around. The DJ has never been disappointing and the place is just too apt and comfy to come with a date.<br/><br/>There have been two spoilers though in my experience at Back Room. One was when one of the guests (drunk out of his wits) kept constantly abusing the incoming guests but the bouncers were simply disinterested in taking a serious action. Maybe because that person has been spotted couple of times here at Back Room previously.<br/><br/>Apart from this incident, there was another time when I asked for a drink from the bartender and paid Rs. 500/- . The bartender poured the drink, and gave me Rs. 50 back and when I asked for a bill, he evaded couple of times. And upon persistence, he gave Rs. 50 along with the bill since the drink was only for Rs. 400. The bartender figured that I maybe to drunk to notice so tried to scam me off Rs. 50.

Hands down the best ambience and decor in Chandigarh. Truly committed in providing the environment you'd love. Food is also nice. Though they need to expand the variety and availability of the food in their menu.
Bharathi Kodali
Whenever someone talks about 'The Back Room' it reminds of its deliciously prepared drinks. And I love their extensive gin based cocktails, which I found unique to this place.
Tania Goel
The food was nice. The ambience of the place was also good. But the entry was little complicated and there was no proper space for people to enter. The food otherwise was good. 😊
Shloka Suda
I went to the toy room on a Tuesday for Christmas . The food was below my expectations , I tried only the vegetarian options.<br/>I ordered the margarita pizza and the mushroom galauti.<br/>The mushroom galauti was exceptionally nice, the pizza had a nice thin crust base but was wayy too sweet leaving no room for desert.<br/>The menu shown on Zomato is very different from the menu at the restaurant, as someone who likes to go through the menu before getting to the place, I was quite disappointed.
The_food_date
The back room cafe is a nice place if you prefer a taciturn environment. The place serves you with pleasant music as well. Talking about the location, the cafe is hard to find as it is hidden behind a hotel.<br/>The pizza and a panner dish they served was amazing but on the other hand the desserts were terrible (*specially referring to sizzling hot brownie). Plus a high on pocket place as well
Dharmender Singh Rawat
Lovely and quite simply put an excellent experience all together. Cocktails were outstanding.<br/>Lovely ambience and excellent service.<br/>For a good night out. TBR is the best place to go away from the routine 26 places

Lovely experience at this niche bar..<br/>The cocktails were really good.<br/>Specially Hugo .<br/>Went with a few friends definitely a 5/5<br/><br/>Good events also here
Parul Narwar
This place is a little difficult to find, hidden behind the toy hotel. The food and service , both, are just mediocre.<br/>They do not know how to handle the customers. We had rice and chicken. The presentation was nice but it tasted a little weird. The starters were served after the main course. Chicken wings were too sweet and stretchy.
Manveerkaur0008
#BadExperience <br/>The restaurant accepted the order and the agent calls up to say restaurant is closed so they will have to cancel the order. No courtesy to inform the client or cancel the order atleast before shutting down
Cheat Meals
High on pocket, but pretty decent food. Great ambience and seating. Liked their pizza and pasta. But I feel when it comes to the price they are charging and the quantity in which the food is being served is a big No No !
Aditi Tikku
Went here on a Saturday evening, liked the ambience of the outdoor seating but the food is something I would not go for again here. Ordered a pizza and Nihari mutton and I must say I have had better of both the dishes. Food needs quite a lot of improvement. <br/><br/>Food: 3<br/>Ambience: 3.5<br/>Service: 4<br/>
MJ
The ambience is okay ..a small backyard space .. food was not that good and rates on a little higher side .. the time at which we went there was no crowd and the aura was dull.. was expecting a lot from this place reading the great reviews
Ravinder Chadha
Food was great but instead of chilli paneer with noodles only chilli paneer was sent.
Maneesha240590
The ambience is fine , personally I don’t like the dim light.. the food is good and the presentation is very nice. They should improve the taste of their mocktails. I give 4 to the food and 2 to the ambience..
Arshdeep Singh
Ordered chapli kebab, was good, then had hummus and pita and finally chicken. All the dishes were good, beer too was chilled, only downsize factor is cost. Its place for people with.deep pockets. Otherwise good ambience.
Jatin
Went to the place for unch and a few cocktails. What we ordered:<br/>1. A spicy beer based cocktail- part of their special world cup menu<br/>2. The Avacado Mango Pani Puri<br/>3. Massaman Curry<br/>4. Kahlua based shots (don't remember the name) for dessert<br/><br/>What we liked:<br/>1. The Kahlua based shots turned out to be an excellent alternative for a dessert<br/>2. The Massaman Curry was flavourful and the vegetables added to it were cooked perfectly- generally you find the vegetables being overcooked in such a curry<br/><br/>What did not turn out to be great:<br/>1. The beer based cocktails were a fail. Upgrading to a Corona did not make a difference either. I would suggest against ordering them, but then again beer based cocktails are really hard to execute and to be honest we were being too adventurous.<br/>2. Though whole spices make the dish flavourful but in case of the Massaman curry they made up a significant part of the curry which made the dish hard to eat. There were bites which felt like chewing a spoonful of whole spices.<br/>3. Avacado Mango Pani Puri - it just did not work for me. The fatty avacado mellowed down the spices in the Pani Puri. I would prefer a traditional Pani Puri over this anyday.<br/><br/>Overall an average experience
Rohini Singh
Given that i had a great time here, there was still something missing. The food is decent, the music is good but it lacks that wow factor which will make you want to visit this place again. Overall, good but not memorable. Small additions to the menu and a little change in the decor will go a long way.
Sahil Goyal
warm welcome and hospitality by dheeraj , good place to watch fifa world cup ,with family and frens, chilled beer and match best combo !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice place to watch the match along with Cocktails, food and drinks. They also have a special World Cup menu. Good place to visit with family.

If you love your Drinks then this is the Pläce for you. <br/>Best Place to chill with your Friends. <br/>The Food Also is Delicious. Try the Lemongrass chicken satay and Hugo Cocktail. <br/>Service is also good
Govind Singh Negi
the place is very well made. the interiors take you back to the 60s and 70s era. Looks like a barristers office. But its the food that really makes you like this place more. Tandoori Momos are one of the best in town. Butter Chicken and Thai Massamam Curry with canai roti was to die for. The icing on the cake are the Cocktails. they have best cocktails in the city. The treasure island ice tea and bellini was very special. Dessert we ordered were ok and can be better. would definitely love to visit again. my fav place now.
Shubam Gupta
Lovely ambience and vibe. The service here is great and the staff friendly. Comijg to my order - I tried the Bhunne mirch ki tangdi and lemongrass chicken satay. 5/5 on food and service.<br/>Definitely worth a visit

I have given 5 stars for the honesty of the back room staff, my experience at back room last night was commendable. The ambience and music of the place is pretty soothing, specially after a long working day, and food quality is good too.

Food is average. However a bad experience with zomato gold here. Im a frequent user of this offer, bur i havent faced this issue anywhere. The server refused to give the offer of 2+2 drinks on the drinks we ordered, basing the fact that they just give the offer on alcoholic beverages only. In my opinion the restaurant should get delisted from this service or simply go with the zomato rules. <br/>
Ashutosh
Wow it’s really good, better service with awesome food serving with smile we can say fine dining Resurant is available here for friends and family try once hope u will enjoy

The Back Room is basically in house cafe of The Toy Hotel @ Sector 34. It is not at all visible from the road and and parking.<br/><br/>However the cafe and ambiance are fine, but they have very limited liquor option in their menu. And from that menu a lot of options are not in the stock.

Needs to work on taste it’s not cooked well chicken smelling

loved the ambience of back room. located at back. side of toy hotel. it has beautiful dark interiors with good seating. parking can be a problem. food is very tasty specially the non veg lollipops and kebabs. visiti g on Saturday and sunday may need a table booking. its a good place to. dine out with friends.

The Back Room has carved a niche for itself among the places that are tastefully done and have a soul to them. This place has some of the best mocktails and cocktails that you can find around town. <br/><br/>The food is also great and flavorful. It is a superb place to party and also a lovely place to relax on an evening with some amazing drinks and superb food. <br/> <br/><br/>I had a lovely time at this place recently when I visited. Tried their loaded Nachos and Tequila spiked Caramel popcorn along with signature mocktails. <br/><br/>Everything was just perfect. The ambience of this place is cozy and inviting and the vibe is very chilled out indeed.
Ashmita Ahuja(Brunch Babe)
Ever since it opened up, it has given me chills. <br/>The vibe of the place is all the more inviting and subtle. <br/>With a lot more to say in praises for this place, I'll just quickly tell you what all to try out herein.<br/><br/>Tandoori momos are a forever favourite from here. Properly cooked and apt filling, it is too flavoursome for the taste buds that you keep on satiating. <br/><br/>Honey chilli lotus stem is yet another pick. The sweet chilli flavour is relished well.<br/>Watermelon basil mojito is something I loved having. It was super refreshing and rejuvenating.<br/><br/>Andddd. Last but not the least, Misal Pav cannot be missed. Not the actual one but yes, close to it. <br/><br/>The only fallout is that it's a little on the higher side.
Himanshu Shekhar
The worst place to be in Chandigarh....<br/>Don't visit this place....<br/>Food way below average....<br/>Total waste of time n money.....<br/>Didn't deserve 1 star....

We give -<br/>Food : 🌟🌟🌟<br/>Ambience : 🌟🌟🌟🌟<br/>Service : 🌟🌟🌟⭐️<br/>Price, food quantity & quality : 🌟🌟<br/>Okay so we will be really honest , the place is a little heavy on pocket and the portions are really less. But we give it a positive nod for family/ group and corporate meet ups

A beautiful place to take you back in time. Very rare you find such colonial style restaurants. Spent a great evening with office colleagues there. Ordered quite a long list which included hummus behlam with bread, mutton chef's special with maharashtran parantha, pasta, lemon butter fish, broccoli with stuffed mushroom, chicken tikka and one other fish snack whose name i don't remember, hazelnut latte, belgian hot chocolate ( oh so yum). I loved the food there. Every dish was worth tasting specially the churi with some paneer dish that we ordered. <br/><br/> Service was quite slow but didn't bother us coz we were enjoying the chit chats.

Visited this place in the evening with old friends. The Back Room is located on the backside of Toy Hotel in sector 34. The moment you enter this place, you are taken back in time..with all the wonderful wooden decor and massive book shelves. It’s really warm and cozy, perfect to chill with friends or family. We had a couple of drinks and one chicken starter( name was too complicated to remember).<br/>Service was fine but ambience was amazing. They have outdoor seating as well. Unlike the other cafes/ bars in Chandigarh, The Back Room has a certain old school vibe to it, which makes it unique. If you’re an old soul at heart, you’ll like it.<br/>
My Plate Stories
The Back Room is one of the best ambience place in Chandigarh . It is beautifully constructed giving a vintage and royal look . I ordered Non-Veg Berry Pulao , Tandori Non-Veg Momos , Watermelon Margarita Drink , Smirnoff and TBR Signature . The food was amazing and delicious especially there momos which is also there speciality . The drinks were great . Watermelon Margarita was having full taste of Watermelon whereas TBR was also refreshing . Berry Pulao seemed like normal chicken briyani . The overall experience was amazing . One should definitely try this and try their drinks and momos .

We had a perfect lunch at The Back room! They have impressive ambiance, wall with bookshelves, beautiful windows, lightings and pretty comfortable sitting. Plus they have delicious food<br/>.<br/>What we had- 1. Cantoneese lemon chicken Rs. 350. Beautiful presentation topped with veggies. The chicken was tender and creamy. It was juicy on every bite. You'll want to have more and more of it. Totally mouth watering, quantity was full filling.<br/>2. Chicken skewers with churri roti Rs. 480  Served with 4 chicken sticks, topped with butter and churri roti on side. This dish Serves 2. It was delicious! It was warm and chicken was tender. Mouth watering smell of gravy. Chicken was marginated perfectly. You can taste the flavor from within the chicken too :D Tempting much? This is a must have here!<br/>.<br/>Drinks- Green Apple Cucumber Quenchers Rs. 180 It had cucumber and green apple pieces. This quencher tasted more of cucumber than apple. It was perfectly cold with ice but it tasted all cucumber. The food is so bad. It is so sad that they post such lovely phtotos and serve such shit food. Never coming back again and do not recommend this to anyone. The food is just sad and not done well.

I've Been there since a long time ago. It was a nice place to have date or dine. Food was Tasty but same way Shakes were not at all good. Otherwise service was good.

Frankly, this is the best bar I’ve visited in Chandigarh. It’s got this “well-kept, intriguing secret” sort of feel. The drinks are great and the staff is friendly and fun. It’s not only a great environment for drinks after work but also a cool place to get a little writing done. I’m making this a habit with my friends.

Tasted the Honey Chilly Lotus Stem. Thinly-sliced lotus stems were stir-fried with flavourful sauces, spices and honey to get a sweet and sour delicacy that tickles your taste buds. The Honey Chilly Lotus Stem was extra crisp yet yummy , the sauce was sweet and spicy (more on the sweeter side). Overall the dish was very appetising and very crispy. 🤗<br/>Place- The Back Room , sector 34, Chandigarh <br/>Delicacy- Honey Chilly Lotus Stem <br/>Price- 340 INR (exclusive of GST)<br/>Ratings- 4/5

The new additons to the menu is good and well thought. I liked how they have tried to balance the dishes to cater to every ones taste palate. Including hints of North Indian cuisine.

Ambiance 4/5<br/>I happened to visit this place and found this very nice cosy and more like a english Street. Interior was all good and theme based. The space was less and that was only drawback but they managed it very well.<br/><br/>Service 5/5<br/>Staff was very courteous throughout.Service was Excellent.Helpful all the time.<br/><br/>Snacks 4/5<br/>We Orderd white sauce pasta and that was one of the finest quality i ever had. Mushroom kum something that was which was kind of ok.Afghani chicken with papad worth trying.<br/><br/>Drinks 2.5/5<br/>Hoegaarden beer pint we tried for the first time and that was superb. As its not availbel easily thats why i mentioned. It s market brand backroom does not own this but excellent it was.<br/>We were very disappointed with shake one was banana mama and second was smoothy criminal both were not worth. Price were very high for these items and quality was too poor.<br/>Dont try them simply.<br/><br/><br/>Main Course 4/5<br/>I must say Dal makhani was excellent. Please try it.<br/>Paneer was also good and chicken lababdaar was also awesome it came with choori roti.<br/><br/>Suggestion for Management<br/>Please have some relevant name in the menu card.<br/>It was not clear from the menu what item is it.<br/>Quite confusing Menu you have.<br/>If possible provide some corporate discount.<br/>Shake price and quality both needs to be improved.<br/><br/>Special Thanks<br/>They offered browine as courtesy of my fried birthday which was the best item in all<br/><br/>Overall Nice experience<br/><br/>

This cafe is neatly decorated as a victorian salon. The ambience is good too. Would have been a great place for having drinks but nevertheless a good place to sit down and relax and have some good food with coffee and have long chats with friends or someone special. The food variety is good as they serve good lebanese continental turkish and iranian food as well as momos and mughlai dishes as well. The food is good and so is the drinks, but the best part is it's decor and layout especially the book shelve door. Overall a good place to hangout with friends or for a date.

This is a nice to visit with your friedms and family. The presention is really good and with combination with taste it becomes a worthy meal. The service part pf the cafe is also appreciat-able , as the service is also good.

The place looks nice and cosy, soft music and all. Although doesn't stand up to the expectation, they claim to have highest quality standards and satiation for ones taste buds, but they do anything but that. The watermelon feta salad is a sheer disappointment with the basic flaw of having stale watermelon and leaves, the dressing is pathetic, yes pathetic! The cigar rolls only look good on the menu, in real life you wouldn't want to pop one in your mouth. And the chef recommended broccoli and mushroom tikka, well in a city like Chandigarh you have to be real unlucky to come across a bad tikka, I was!! :( not value for money and very unfriendly and indifferent staff. Don't go by the rating, it highly over rated and over priced!

The Backroom - the place that has been on my bookmarks for as long as I remember. Today I finally got to visit the place and try the food. <br/><br/>First of all, the interior as seen in the pictures is classy and majestic (gives me a feel of an old but new jazz club) but in real it is a little disappointing as you expect a bigger place, even thought it looks exactly like the pictures. The tables and the chairs look old and worn. <br/><br/>Coming to the food....it was fantastic. I ordered the Hummus Blahmeh which continued to impress me with every bite. It was a delight. The quantity of the food was also very good, there is no chance you won't be satisfied.

Had a great time here over the weekend with friends. We had come here for a celebration, and the awesome food and décor made it a memorable experience.

We visited this place for pre birthday celebrations of my husband. This place serves one of the best cocktails in Chandigarh... We tried 9 different cocktails and all were awesome.. Food is also good... Loved Vada pav... Visit for sure!!!

Well you can only stumble upon this quaint restaurent if you are looking hard enough both on zomato and even location wise since it does get hidden behind the busy hustle bustle of the main road of sector 34. Located in the premises of the 'Toy Hotel' I wasn't surprised to find the place almost deserted even on a weekend night! I bet my husband that while we dine no one else would come and that's what exactly happened until we paid our bill and were ready to leave but that can also be because we dined quite early by 9 pm when mostly customers tend to arrive in most of the restaurents so i am not taking anything away from the restaurant!<br/><br/>Coming to the food, we tried Adana zatar mutton seekh with green apple cucumber and TBR special mocktail. The appetizer was absolutely delectable with equally amazing drinks. Though not most of the times, the waiter is able to answer about the ingredients of the dish. Then we tried berry pulao and turkish hummus blameh which is basically minced lamb with hummus. I found it quite good albeit a tad sweet maybe because of hummus that was prepared! But the taste was good.<br/><br/>Overall i do recommned this place and do look forward to dine in again with family..! A quiet and relaxed place for a nice dinner out!

I happened to visit this cafe and was completely awestruck by their interiors. Had heard a lot about their parties but somehow I landed up after the liquor ban and the place now runs on a low(as quoted by the people). <br/>So what if u don't have liquor, I anyways needed caffeine and food! So ordered a veg sandwich and cold coffee.. I absolutely loved their presentation and service.. Coming to pleasing the taste buds too, I was happy and contented.<br/><br/>So Experimenting further and being more optimistic I ordered Green Thai Curry! And it was a perfect blend of spices and the coconut. It is a must try at this place.. somehow my rice were undercooked and not that great. But the curry balanced it all..<br/>And I went happy😍<br/><br/>On my second visit I tried caramel popcorns- amazing the fine threads of real caramel was a Happy moment!<br/>I loved the coffee martini! It was indeed LIT

The backroom is situated at the back of the toy hotel. <br/>The logo of the restaurant features a lion smoking a cigar.. <br/>A small lavish place with retro interior which gives you the vibes of British pubs. <br/>I was amazed, gazed & dazed with ambience, with the books, the bar and the sofas.. <br/>The staff is friendly, courteous, attend you with pleasing smile, and right away.. <br/> what we ordered-- <br/>Chicken tandoori momos...<br/>we started with the best.. Their chicken tandoori momos are among the best ones in Chandigarh.. Tandoori momos are quite big in size with perfect quantity of fillings.. as they are adequately stuffed before they are grilled in a tandoor.. These enamate with the right amount of smoky flavour & are served with green mint chutney and onion sauce..<br/><br/>This dish actually made me droll..<br/>I must say the "chicken skewer and churi roti" is something to have when you visit this place..<br/>i was amazed with this..<br/>the consistency, flavour and masala was to the point.. Choori roti was soft to eat.. Gravy was perfect, i just loved that.. That was the mindblowing and mouthwatering..<br/>Best butter chicken in Chandigarh.. <br/><br/>Highly recommended.. <br/>.<br/>.<br/>"Keep visiting & keep tasting". .<br/><br/>Keep up the good work..!!! <br/>
Her Tasty Life
We heard so much about the tandoori momos that I had to try them and soon I paid them a visit with a friend.<br/>The inspiration for the interiors of this place seems to be taken from an old English street, with an old red telephone booth converted into a billing counter and funnily enough when we entered there was an old bartender cleaning beer mugs. So yes we got the whole feel. It's a small place which is situated at the back of he toy hotel.<br/>After settling down we instantly ordered the tandoori momos. The menu is limited and the non alcoholic drinks for are barely there so stick to the coke family!. ( alcohol currently banned)<br/>The tandoori momos were a delight. We loved the presentation !. The momos were a little larger than a golf ball which I loved! The portion size is great for 2 hungry people. 6 in one serving along with the chilli chutney which was moderately spicy and with a sweet mayo to help those who catch fire easily.<br/>The dumplings were brown crispy on the outside and on the inside was chicken minced along with pepper and coriander leaves. We now know why this place is a go to for tandoori momos.<br/>We then decided to try the chicken skewers with churi roti. We again loved the presentation.<br/>This particular dish is actually a heavenly and a heavy butter chicken dish. Loads and loads of butter floating... chicken grilled on skewers and juicy I might add not at all dry. The gravy was just right. The naan that came also was perfect thin soft not at all chewy.<br/>Mind you this dish is heavy both in the sense of quantity, quality and on the pocket too.<br/>But once in a while you can splurge and treat yourself to these tandoori momos or this chicken skewers and churi roti.<br/>Would love to splurge again someday and try something new from there very limited but humble menu.

Ambience was very nice and sofa was very comfortable. Service was fast. Ordered blueberry punch and lemongrass chilly mocktail and both were amazing not at all syrupy with good quantity. Food is yummy and very tasty, served quickly. Staff was very professional. Waiter helped me out with deciding orders. Very polite. I ordered both veg n non veg food and both are equally good. Overall very pleasant experience. Neha Sheikh

This establishment is by far one of the best places to be at in Chandigarh to enjoy a delicious meal. <br/>The ambience is elegant & simple and has that rustic feel to it. <br/>A very well constructed menu with a wide variety to choose from and I must say the 'chicken skewer and churi roti' is definitely something to have when you visit. <br/>The tandoori momos are worth a try as well. <br/>Will visit again very soon. <br/>

I still wonder why is it rated so high or maybe I've gotten it wrong.Service is bit slow, price/quantity ratio is slightly high. Yes, one of the things I really liked was the presentations of their LIIT. It was served in a box emanating white smoke.

I had a craving for this place from a very long time, so I tried it few days back and it was worth the wait. They have this slightly retro interior which is very good. So now quickly coming on to the food. I had tandoori momos and missal pav. Tandoori momos were cooked to perfection so was missal pav. There was nothing to complain about. In quenchers I had TBR special and watermelon basil cucumber. They were also tasty and the quantity was also very filling. Overall this place is highly recommend and tandoori momos is a must try because of the unique filling and tatse.

Great place to be .... Ambience was great .... Food was awesome ... Had lots of fun .... Try tandoori momos along with chicken with choori rotti ... <br/><br/>I went their for second time and the experience was below AVG .... Most of the things were not available .... Overall it was a disappointing Saturday evening.

A difficult place to find but surely worth the whole.<br/>I was disappointed to have missed the live performances because I assume they'd only add to the experience I had.<br/>On weekdays it's a very quite. So if you're planning a date I'd recommend this place.<br/>The food smells as good as it tastes so it's a treat for all your senses.<br/>We had the layered Greek dip which lived upto the reviews we heard about it. I would highly recommend this dish.<br/> the spinach and corn cigars and the berry pulao were equally good.<br/>The kofta was a very disappointing compared to the other dishes but the scrambled onion naan that it was served with did make ordering the dish worth it.<br/>The drinks are a bonus along with the food.<br/>Do not miss this place.
Riya Batra
I don't understand why this place is highly overrated. The ambience is dark when I say dark it literally means dark :p . Not spacious at all ,only 4-5 tables . Food is just average , nothing special as such . I consider it as a dull and a gloomy place .

If would not have been here, then surely would have missed something great. Simply loved it. The service, the food presentation, the food...... Wow!!!!!!!!

I visited this place a while back so the review is long overdue but I would happily start this review by clearly stating that this is one of the nicest restaurants we have in town.<br/>Nestled at the very back of the Toy Hotel, you enter the door to a small, low lit restaurant which has a very English Pub vibe to it. I couldn't emphasise enough that this place is a little too small but the same is not the case with their servings.<br/>We started with drinks some of which were unavailable but the servers were kind enough to inform us which ones were present and thus, served us well.<br/>The food was as fantastic as the reviews claimed it would be. Hands down, their best dish is the Tandoori Chicken Momos. Also, I loved the Afghani Papdi Chicken. Quite unusual and delicious.<br/>The menu is pretty nice with a large variety of items to choose and they don't cater a specific cuisine. From North Indian to Chinese to Parsi to Mediterranean, you will find all sorts of dishes here and they taste good.<br/>All in all, when in chandigarh, this is a place you would wanna visit.

Worst experience <br/>Irresponsible behaviour ! Never to go place ! The staff os not managed properly and they take hell of a time to serve the food!

Yet to leave a big impact. Though they have good saturday but still not as much crowded as it can be. Love the ambience and like the food but a little on the expensive side which pricks your pocket at times

Being a property of Toy Hotel, back room is making mark as Toy. Awesome place..great ambience..good food..music n happening staff.<br/><br/>Food quality is way too high...delicious it was..We were a bunch of 15 people abd tried evrything it was as good as licking the plates...<br/><br/>Your team need to work on food menu by increasing some stuff as things mentioned were also not there.<br/><br/>Evrythig else was amazing.<br/><br/>Food - 4.5/5<br/>ambience - 4/5<br/>staff - 3.5/5<br/>Price - 4/5

I went toy hotel so many times but first time I saw the back room interior..... absolutely amazing... if I'm talking about food quality it was also good and management was too nice at this place.

Mumbai Vada Pav and this drink in the picture (I forgot the name) : Wow, just wowwwww! I have been there twice and both the times, I have been crazily in love with the food AND yes, the music! I recommend Mint Flower, TBR Special, Masala Mojito and Veg Pasta.Don't go for Bacon Sandwiches, my friends dint like them!

Tried their Backed Lemon Cheesecake. It was Okayishh. Not something I would recommend. It was my first time there so not so impressed. But they had good ambience. Would go back for trying their other dishes, just for the good things I have heard about this place.
