Food: Everything here appears to be made with care, retaining the taste and way it was always done. Must try: Mukkani and filter coffee :) Variety: Decent Service: Excellent. You could already sense that the staff is well trained to people of all kinds with respect and with a smile Price: Value for money considering the ambience and treatment you receive along with the food. Ambience: Traditional decor with Live classical music. On the day I visited, they played ”Narumuhayein“ from ” Iruvar“. I could not have asked for more

Very good restaurant, taste is amazing, good and friendly staff please note this is a 5 star restaurant/hotel where CSK and Indian team stay, this is not a place for the middle class, prices are very high, go here for a one time experience to enjoy the service and vibes

Dakshin at Crowne Plaza. Had the Thali and the waiters were excellent. They explained everything and suggested things for us. The thaali itself was really good. We couldn’t even finish it. They kept prodding us to try more. Really good ambience and decor too. The live music was a plus!

Hi Foodies, Visited the place for some evening bites, the place is located just in front of prestige college and the ambience of the place is unique and different, they have all the roof covered with colourful umbrellas with small lights, which looks really attractive and beautiful, when looked at from far. Additionally they have a big board with there name at the corner, which is quiet a selfie spot at that place.

One of the best South Indian restaurants in the city. Every dish here tastes good. We are big fans of their vegetarian thali. The food is always lip smacking. The decor is outdated and it gets very crowded even during weekdays. The service becomes very slow once the place is crowded but other than that no complaints cos the food makes up for it. My favorite part of the meal is the dessert. The 3 fruit ice cream and paal payasam are hands down the best. One tip- Call and make a reservation ahead even during weekdays.

Since this is my first visit to South India, it was important to me to have an excellent meal representing the local cuisine. Based on other reviews, Dakshin looked perfect, and it was! Located in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, this elegant restaurant is beautifully decorated with Hindu paintings and sculptures, including a 6-foot bronze Shiva Nataraja. As soon as we were seated, friendly servers were at our table. We were brought cool damp cloths — so refreshing on this warm day! — then brought pappadam with five kinds of chutney. We ordered one vegetarian thali and one non-veg thali, and the soup and appetizers that came next reflected those choices: pieces of crispy fried chicken breast, chicken soup, vadai, and tomato soup. These were excellent, and the thalis themselves were superb. The individual dishes change daily. We were served a variety of meat dishes (lamb curry, spicy prawns, and a chicken dish) and vegetable dishes, types of rice, yogurt, paratha, and idiyappam. The veg thali substituted pumpkin, banana chips, and another veg korma for the meat dishes. Dessert was also exquisite, with warm payasam and mango, jackfruit, and banana ice cream. At the end of the meal, we were brought a colorful green betel leaf wrapped around areca nut and slaked lime. While this is not something I enjoy, my dining partner reported that it was very refreshing. It is said to aid digestion, as well. The service was perfectly timed, warm, and attentive without being intrusive. We could not have asked for a better dining experience.

One of the best South Indian restaurants Crab soup here is simply the best. You can find it anywhere else. Prawns fry also next level. Ambience also is very good you feel peace with South Indian flute playing in the background. My visit to Chennai is never complete without visiting this restaurant I always go for the thali

Best place for authentic South Indian food in Chennai Order : Sea food Thali, Vegetarian Thali Pro - lip smacking food, good quantity, quick service, amazing ambience. Fresh fresh sea food ( crab, prawn and fish), the prawn appetizer and crab soup as part of thali was delicious, prawn and fish curries as part of thali were drool worthy, to finish the meal the most amazing and unique ice cream i have ever had( banana, jackfruit and mango flavoured) Con - three resturant felt understaffed. The servers seemed to be in a hurry and pre occupied with multiple things. In a five star i expect more personalized service

Located in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Chennai, Dakshim is an elegant, high-end restaurant featuring flavors from all over the South Indian states. The Special Thali set menus were a great way to try out a bunch of different dishes, and unlike in most places, the thalis here came in a few separate courses. To start, there was a basket of papad crackers accompanied by five different chutneys: tomato, ginger, garlic, coconut, and tamarind. The first course of the non-veg thali came with “Iyer’s Special,” a sweet banana dosa and a savory adai dosa, prepared on a street food-style trolley; Kozhi Varuval, made with chunks of chicken coated in a red spice powder and fried; and Kozhi Rasam, a peppery chicken soup. The main courses then came all at once, beautifully plated on traditional dining vessels, and included three different meat/seafood curries: Kori Gassi (dark meat chicken in a tomato gravy); Yera Thokku (baby prawns with tomatoes and peppers); and Mutton Chettinad (bone-in mutton in a peppery gravy). There was also Poriyal (chopped gourd); Kai Kurma (coconut-based curry with mixed vegetables); yellow dal; Kathrikai Murungakai Kara Kozhambu (a tangy soup with drumstick and eggplant); curd; Chitrannam (curry leaf-flavored green rice dish); Idiyappam (string hoppers made with rice); and Veechu Parotta (layered flatbread). Everything on the thali was so flavorful and well-balanced, from the spicy curries to the earthy dal to the creamy kurma and cooling curd, but my favorite elements were the crispy parotta and the three meat curries, each of which had a distinct flavor profile. As if all this weren’t enough, lastly came an entirely separate dessert course: a bowl of payasam (a warm coconut pudding) and a scoop of tropical, three-flavored jackfruit/banana/pineapple ice cream. On top of the delicious, beautifully-presented food, the service and atmosphere were on point, and there was even live, traditional South Indian music being played!

Nice dining experience, good for family and friends gathering. The place/environment ambient was good. Their meal/thali plate was tasty and we liked it. They started with multiple rounds of crispy prawn and chicken fries. Dosa varieties including banana dosa was good along with multiple chutneys. Parota, rice and mutton biriyani was good. They provided side dishes in the form of chicken, korma, mutton fry, prawn gravy fry, mushroom masala and bean poriyal. Thengai kher was tasty. Mixed fruit flavored ice creams with badam/halva was served, ended with filter coffee and Sweet beeda/pan. They treated us with nandu puttu(crab), its taste was different.(probably, need to be heated). There was a pleasant on stage musical performance which suited lunch time experience, they did a birthday facilitation for one of the diner. Staff were humble, polite & cordial and their service was great!
