Review Zaitoon - Chennai (Madras)

1. Valet parking 2. Large waiting area 3. Good dining space 4. Food quality - no need to rate. One of best foods since they started in Adyar. Today whatever the reason the waiter was not ready to really wait. He wanted to clear plates while we were dining. Gave up desserts. Not a nice gesture of service.

I recommend reserving a table. We went on a Saturday and had to wait for an hour and a half to be seated. The food was good and good value for money. The quantities were good as well. We ended up packing two full dishes because it turned out to the too much. Keep that in mind, especially when ordering the platter. The pista kunafa was amazing and we ended up ordering seconds for sharing.

One of the best restaurants in Velachery! 1.Well Maintained with good staff members,ambience is good. 2.I had visited the restaurant multiple times but never felt a relaxed dine in mostly it is crowded and noisy! 3.Bit expensive but food is too good is the reason for repeated customers (even me). 4.Valet Parking is there. 5. Opposite to zaitoon is Grand mall.

A very good restaurant to try middle eastern food. All the dishes we ordered were awesome. The highlight was the tandoori chicken boneless which had four pieces. The service is very good but we had to call them every time to serve the dish. It’s definitely on the expensive end so cannot visit frequently.

Excellent place to have dinner. Their ambiance, service, food quality and quantity are worth for money. We tried Chicken Triple Schezwan Fried Rice, Laham Meshwy, and etc... Meshwy is ultimate, I can bet you will never get such a soft mutton anywhere. Must try one.

We went for a team meeting here and ordered variety of food Veg Briyani was top notch! Mushroom soup Falafel hummus Crisp veggies Gobi manchurian All the above tasted good!!! My dear friend made me try kunafa which was yummiest ! Definitely must go place to have decent lunch /dinner

Out team lunch went very well here! Various menu with different types of masalas for all non veg items. Quantity is good and taste is superb.

Went to Zaitoon recently [despite not being a frequent visitor] and could tell the consistency of their food quality & quantity are excellent for the price they provided. I never regretted ordering a single dish. Despite being on a busy main road, the atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming. The thoughtful idea of having a waiting lounge for people to get to their dine-in area, which is so comfortable, shows that not only the customers who have dined in, as well as the waiting customers, are important. And the staff is very friendly and gentle, and they ensure that the process runs smoothly. I believe that a restaurant's success is determined not only by its food, but also by customer satisfaction from beginning to end. Kudos! 💫

The ambience is great. Perfect for a group dinner. Service is fine, little late in busy hours. The kebabs are great and they are must try. However, the sizzlers were a bit off. The veg options are also pretty good। Price is on little higher side. It's a huge building just across the grand mall, so easy to find and full of grandeur in the atmosphere.

The food is ok but the service definitely needs to improve.we tasted bbq and killi parrotta and Arabic chicken lolipop.Bbq is too good other than that average.

The ambiance was amazing. The food tasted so good. The chicken briyani was very light and had minimal spices, kids loved it. Honey chilli potatoes and dragon chicken are the best. Veg manchow soup was quite different from other restaurants, they used green chilli instead of red chilli. The Kunafa was served very hot and fresh.

Their whole ambience and set up was awesome. The Hall was great. Would recommend you to book this Hall if you are looking for a birthday party or any celebrations. Made a candyland themed cake in this hall

Good option for team lunch/dinner. They have many varieties for veg/non-veg. Mutton Nalli soup was top notch and their desserts were too good as well.

The ambience was good, Food taste was ultimate When the crowd is huge that time u will get the food at late even when late u will enjoy that when u went along with your gangs....lot of talks and sharing of good memories....and must try sizzling brownie with icecream.

Couple of weeks back visited Zaitoon Velachery branch for lunch. Its good to know that they are following all safety measures by temperature checks, wearing masks, dining with distance among tables.✅<br/><br/>Coming to the menu part, Its my first time I tried Middle Eastern style dish that is Kozi Dajaj Chicken Biriyani Combo where they served with enough rice and chicken portion along with gravy side.<br/><br/>The rice served in biriyani is not southern style as spiced one rather it was bland arabian style rice.

Very disappointed with the restaurant, we thought the restaurant is highly rated and will provide good food but it turned out to be one of the worst. Kadai chicken was without salt and chicken pieces were very bad, full of bones. Tikka chicken was not made with Tikka, instead they added regular bony chicken. Taste was extremely bad. Only spicy with no flavours.

The waiting time is too long. Even if you book a table, its usually late. Else the food is delicious and happy place

Sizzling brownie is must! Tawa chicken has the best taste and fish fingers too! 😋 Mango icecream is delicious!

We ordered a grill chicken(Rs.220 ) and a special tandoori chicken(Rs.250 ).<br/>.<br/>The grill chicken was cooked well and the taste was pretty good. The mayonnaise tasted good and i would never skip an extra free mayonnaise anywhere😜.<br/>.<br/>The special tandoori was basically boneless chicken with masala which also tasted good.<br/>.<br/>The ambience of the place is decent.

I had ordered chicken lollipop, chkn schezwan fried rice and mutton biryani. The fried rice was the best i have evr had. No where else in chennai i could find the perfect schezwan fried rice except in zaitoon. The saucy chicken lollipop was delicious. Mouth watering. Mutotm seekh kebab were also good.

Buffet was not upto the mark mainly veg starters

Coming right to the point... While I can vouch for the Arabic specialties and haleem, I think the mutton biryani is an absolute punishment to the taste buds. It's neither tamil nadu style, nor it is Hyderabadi dum. Even the greatest of ancient Mughal chefs can't save this recipe. You guys really need to check YouTube and until then I pray to God that nobody orders biryani from zaitoon. I rate restaurants but hardly write reviews, this is something which I thought everybody should know... Please don't spoil the eternal biryani.

I went with my friend a couple of weeks ago. It was late night and around 12. We had Lebanese bread Tandoori Roti and Dal Tadka. The taste was amazing and the service was good. I like Lebanese bread which was soft and nice. The rates are decent.

Disappointed!<br/><br/>Had ordered food from Zaitoon based on reviews. We had a cousin visiting from Amsterdam for the weekend and he was craving Indian spicy food. Fish fry and Chicken fry. Dry, tasteless and looked stale. Had to order again from a different place.<br/>Weekend is generally a time when people want to have good food and unwind. Didn't meet the expectations.<br/>Result: A disappointed cousin returns to Amsterdam with his cravings unsatisfied!

I am a regular customer of Zaitoon. The restaurant is on the main road easily noticable. The food quality and the taste is good. The non veg items are good. But the service is not that good. They need serious improvement on the same

Zaitoon, I must say it’s in the heart of Velachery where we have heck of traffic. But they have valet parking available which help us a lot to dine well. The food is delicious and the hospitality is well too. Foods are served pretty fast therefore no much waiting time. Waiting time for the seats are there since the restaurant seemed to be crowded al the time. Better book the seats in prior to avoid such cases.

Quality of food needs to be seriously improved. Very unlike the other Zaitoon outlets. Food was cold and didn't bear the signature taste which zaitoon is famous for! Decor and ambience is good but people come more for the food - and that was a serious let down!

I have ordered the food from Zaitoon Ramapuram location. I ordered Lebanese Kuboos bread, Afghani Dejan Chicken and hummus. Real taste and flavour of Arabian cuisine. The quality and the taste of the food is on a high level of standard 😊 The second time ordered for barbecue chicken and was surprised by the clean quality packaging of food accompanied with kuboos bread and mayonese and hummus 😋

Had my daughters birthday party @ Zaitoon velachery. Part hall was very good. Clean and tidy. The manager JJo was polite and courteous. Food was excellent...service was quite good. Will go back to zaitoon both for food and a party in our family. Prices quite reasonable. Only suggestion is that they could be a bit more flexible with the choice of food from the menu. That said the food supplied was excellent. So overall good andvtrstworthy place for a family function.

We ordered Chicken Lalipop and Fish Biryani. Lalipop seams to be very dry inside and its not good( We can clearly sense that its not fresh). We called the manager and informed him the same. He was trying to explain that it supposed to be dry. Fish Biryani is also not good and it has lumps in the rice. Not at all expected.

Being so reputed and serving with great quality and based on the past good experiences in zaitoon restaurant in madurai and adyar visited the branch at velachery on a Sunday noon for lunch , we have given a table with in ten mins of waiting after placing the order , in the mid way the service seems very pathetic and worst , we are served with chicken soup instead of veg soup , finally they haven't billed for the same as the complaint is genuine but the ultimste worst experience is we ordered for chicken and egg biriyani in the order and they brought it and suddenly , one guy appeared from no where told its prawn biriyani and took the 1 chicken biriyani from our table and he never came back , we compliant to store supervisor , then he came and telling chicken biriyani is over hence its not delivered after 20 min of waiting the person who took order from us never came to our table . The supervisor is asking us to take egg biriyani without scolding the irresponsible employee who took the order . The biriyani they took from us was served to people of 10 member for the larger audience . It's based on number of people not for the one who requested first . Worst expeience ever in any restaurant .

Though the road is extremely busy on all days, they do have valet parking services.<br/><br/>Service: We went on a Sunday evening around 9ish and it was packed. We had to wait for 15 minutes to be seated and they were kind enough to offer us watermelon juice as complimentary.<br/>The waiter was very courteous and took our orders quickly and smoothly and brough the food at the correct timings.<br/><br/>Food & Drinks: We had ordered a dum egg biriyani and a mughal egg biriyani along with grill chicken and curd rice. Everything was excellent and we also ordered an ice cream at the end.<br/><br/>Pricing: Its a little high compared to others but very reasonable for the quality of service they provide.<br/><br/>Overall, definitely recommended.

Went for a New years lunch, while it was full and everyone was waiting for the table, we informed about a table for two, the fellow managing the tables was a decent looking one until a smooth talking young female showed up after us, she just causally went to him whispered or nibbled on his ears he was all smiling and immediately found a table for the girl and people with her while the rest of us stood like idiots in the lobby waiting, when I asked about it he was like they were a large group, etc. So we left and found a quick service restaurant for the lunch...no matter how good your food is or how restaurant infrastructure looks, your desperate staffs do bring your service down...<br/>Never set foot on the place again...<br/>Peace

This is a place where you can expect reliable quality of food. There have been times when the delivery was delayed but the taste and quality has always been to my expectations

Faloodas were good.Overall experience was good. Price is reasonable if you are with team or groups. Individual it will be a bit costly.

I had taken their party hall for my baby's 1st birthday party. Right from the beginning the staffs were very cooperative and polite. The menu options they had were also very reasonably priced compared to other party halls around Velachery. On the day of the function things were so smoothly and well managed with no hassles. All the guests appreciated the venue and the taste of food. Overall I had a very satisfying experience.<br/>

We celebrated my daughter’s 1st B’Day here. We were around 15 members. The food was very good.. every loved the starters... The staff were very friendly and went over and beyond to help us with the party.. The food was awesome. I loved their mutton chops, fish, prawns and tawa chicken. the veg starters were good too.. the pineapple, crispy veg, paneer.. really yummy... a must visit place..

Been a great fan of this place since a long time. Service is prompt, waiters are courteous, and the food, though not out of the world, is good. The restaurant is known for its Arabian food, and yes, Arabian is what stands out here. A place that I'd visit again just for having a good meal.

Zaitoon has One of its outlet in our college IIT Madras and I was amazed by its pricing ,which was low all bcoz of being subsidized but I personally didn't like the taste, btw rolls were good.However visiting zaitoon at velacherry completely changed my views we tasted variety of things and was completely satisfied and the final bill was around 1200 for 3 people which I think was pretty much justifiable

Today attended buffet lunch with my frnds. Serving fresh juice as welcome drink, soup and starters served on the table. Veriety of dishes in both veg & non veg. We enjoyed the service and food. Staffs are attentive and managing the crowd. Will come back soon. Recommending to the viewers.

I hate giving low scores to any restaurant as it's very difficult to set up a business, unfortunately I had to do this now. We visited Zaitoon for Buffet, nothing worked out. Cleanliness was not good, I used a couple of plates and when I cleaned with a tissue all of them had a black residue. Spread was very poor and quality was abymssal. Not one item tasted good, starting with the Watermelon juice, you could have had sugar syrup instead of that, tomato soup was pathetic, looks like they added tamarind paste to tomato soup, starters were nothing great, mains we're even worst and not much choice. Desserts was hopeless, pathetic gulab jamub, payasam and jangiri which was very stale. Ice cream couldn't have been of worst quality.<br/>Definitely will not visit them ever again,for they couldn't get even one item properly. For starters they offered Barbeque pineapple, I was shocked it had pieces of pineapple and bananna and coated in some kind of Mayo. Damn, either these guys don't Know Barbeque or thinking their customers are ignorant. For the amount we paid, Barbeque nation or Absolute Barbeque would have offered better spread and quality.<br/>

This is the second time i went to zaitoon,Velachery. ordered Arabian Lollypop and grill chicken in hot plate with bbq sauce, This thing forced me to rate 1 star to zaitoon . the chicken having no flavour of grill or anything. it was like a plain chicken cooked and little bbq sauce poured on it. It was the worst thing i have found in zaitoon. Service was good 5/5.

For the first time i had a dining experience at Zaithoon two days before. Been here for a quick dinner. Restaurant was crowded. But i got single seat within 10 minutes.<br/><br/>Ordered Shawarma Roll and Avocado Milkshake.<br/>Milk shake was good. But the Shawarma roll was devastating my expectations. It was a bit dry and flat. Mutton normally so we'll cooked was a bit rubbery.<br/><br/>Valet Parking was there.<br/><br/>If you want the best among all zaitoons, come to Besant Nagar. This is my recommendation after tasting in three zaitoons across Chennai.

This was not the first time I had food from Zaitoon. And their food quality is well known among people around. But this time we were looking for a banquet hall for a farewell party. Believe it or not, they have the best , cosy, spacious comfortable hall in and around Velachery. With a buffet that satisfied and thrilled a large student community from around India, I as an organizer was extremely happy to choose this place over the others. All the parameters ranging from food, cleanliness, prompt and courteous service to their willingness to arrange for some last time requirements will help them to move a long way. It would be unfair if I don't mention the restaurant manager Mr.Jijo who was there with us right from the day of enquiry to the end of function. He is a real asset to the restaurant I should say. Thank you and looking forward to hosting our next party in the same hall.

The restaurant opens at 11 30 am in the morning and they are taking 1 hour for preparation of a curd rice. This brings the question on their service to customers.

Very poor service, ordered crab pepper fry. Not even a piece was there full of onion kept and cheated. Fraud restaurant. Don't ever choose this restaurant.

Good food and ambience staff are also courteous and provide all the requirements as requested. A bit crowded so better to reserve and go in case u plan

Ordered zaitoon sea food platter. Taste was average, if you r not a sea food person then definitely don’t go for this.<br/>Personally we felt 2 to 3 types was good though not statisfied with this for this much amount <br/>Serves 3 to 4 peoples<br/><br/>All other main dishes were amazing as usual. Would recommend this restaurant every single time

We ordered Chicken briyani and Pepper BBQ. The food here is not so great, the briyani rice is half cooked and pathetic, the quantity given is not even enough for one person. The ordered bbq was nothing special and I'm not really sure why they charge 400+ rs for a bbq, which is average in taste. The restaurant need to improve the quantity and quality otherwise they will loose their customers. Zaitoon is good brand, Velachery branch please do not spoil it.

Useless restaurant, first ordered so called Tomato soup looks like Tomoto curry with too much water & chiili, later ordered it for another friend which is received with extra water.<br/>Veg biryani tasted like tamarind rice, lassy with salt received with extra salt which is really not bearable.<br/>Ordered Royal falooda which is below par, Butterscotch icecream received with ice cubes.<br/>highlighted each n every issue but their attitude really irritating.<br/>Starters are ok.<br/>For 7 people 3600 is total waste, spoiled our get together.<br/>Dont even think of visiting of restaurant.

Very very tasty food. Bbq chicken is the best. Place is a lil crowded at times. Other than than that no complaints, staff is very courteous and food is amazing. I recommend!

Have ordered food from Zaitoon Velachery multiple times and always had good experience. The delivery was quick through Zomato, food Packed well and taste is guaranteed.<br/>Mostly ordered non vegetarian food such as Mutton Biryani, Mixed Fried Rice, BBQ Chicken, Chilly Fish, Shawarma, etc... and found everything good.<br/>Will definitely order again soon :)

Dont order online in this hotel they are reducing the quantity while ordering online.<br/>Taste also not upto the mark.<br/>Order half grill.but see the quantity in the picture<br/>Only quarter chicken delivered.<br/>Really disappointed<br/>

Any experience of eating out at a restaurant is defined by the service at that place and not just the food. My family of 5 people had one of the worst dining experiences in recent times last night at the velachery Zaitoon. We reached the restaurant by 9 30 PM. Though we could see empty tables, we were made to wait for more than 15 minutes for God knows why reasons. After repeated reminders and blunt point outs asking why we weren't given a table, there was a forced apology and we were asked to be seated. There was our first sour brush with customer service. We didn't want to wait long and ordered a mutton biriyani, Singapore fried rice, tawa fish, and laham meshwi. We waited for 40 minutes before asking what was wrong with the order and why we weren't being given any of the above mentioned dishes. At that point, we were asked if we wanted the biriyani at least. We were ravenous and asked for it. It took them 15 more minutes to bring a plate of biriyani with a half baked apology for the delay. We ordered yet another plate of biriyani foolhardedly. At least at this point they should have told us that there is no biriyani. After yet another 15 minutes we were told that there is no biriyani and was rudely asked if we want our bill. I don't ever want to visit this place again.

It was really a good lunch...V went for Mutton Nalli soup., Bbq chicken..v had a mouth watering chicken...Then v tried zaitoon spl falooda(must try)

Optimistic Version: They have plenty of opportunities for improvement !!<br/>Pessimistic Version: No warm welcome extended, Didn't changed the tablecloth but shook it. Ambience hasn't given fine dining environment but a wedding lunch environment!all the extended cutleries does have peeled enamel, seen one or two food items have gone stale, 'the butler' was not soft-spoken, don't know what I have done to him because he showed a certain degree of irritation towards me. <br/>Pragmatic Version: They missed to meet both my expectations and the monetary value!

I have ordered chicken tandoori and chicken tandoori here.Both are awesome to taste no words to explain.If your going with a family this is the best place.5/5 rating. They have added enough amount of masala to that chicken tandoori and biryani was worth the money.

I had there yesterday with my friend in the evening. One of my friend suggested me this place and its bit crowded as well when we reached there, so that we were wait around 20 min to get seat( unfortunately i couldn't reserve the seat through zomato). We were given the order for zaitoon special non veg soup, barbique chicken, dijaj meshwi sizzler, prawn pepper masala and butter nan. I was really embarrassed it took around 50 to get our first order. People came after us also finished there food and left. It seems like they forget to place our order. Again we didn't say anything as its happen sometimes. Finally our cuisines were served start with the soup usually, it was a disaster... whenever i order someone's special food, its always good but i dont know what happened here, its the waste one which i ever had. The next one is sizzler, which is my suggestion to my friends as they didn't try it before, once it served myself also not try this kind of sizzles before... barbique chicken is good and prawn masala again let down. Hope you guys take it as a positive feedback and improve yourself. definitely i will visit, guess its my bad day !

One of the Worthless overhyped buffet in chennai. Went for buffet at Velachery branch. Even before eating they made us to pay and they gave buffet coupons.<br/><br/>Waited for almost 1 and half hour to get a table. After all these we got place in buffet hall. Seating arrangements were pathetic. There was no proper seating arrangement plans or slot timings. They don't even have proper table setup for >9 People. If it was >8 people they literally asking people to sit in two different tables.<br/>Vegterian options were totally ZERO. All the dishes in the buffet were cold.<br/><br/>People working there not even bothering about customers. They were just dumping the food in chafing dishes.<br/><br/>Food : 1/5<br/>Ambience : 0.5/5<br/>VFM : 0.5/5<br/><br/>Will I go next time ? Even if they give it for free, I won't go.<br/><br/>For this 700Rs. per person budget you will easily get proper professional buffet places like Abs and coal barbeque.

Such a sad and shoddy place to visit.. And ruined my new year celebrations completely... Reserved for buffet for new year, only once I reached der came. To know that buffet is on banquet Hall where were are supposed to share tables with others.. There was no privacy and it was like visiting some function in government corporation community hall, tables were not clean and no one to clean as well... We were not happy and decided to go for la carte menu, and to our surprise all the 4 sweaters were converted into 6 seater just by placing an extra chair, and all we were told is to wait till. Tables were available... And finally we were alloted a table however we are asked to jump. From one table. To the other... JUST IMAGINE HOW BAD UR NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS WOULD BE?? SORRY ZAITOON VELACHERY!!! I FEEL UR ROYAPETTAH AND THIRUVANMIYUR BRANCHES HAVE BETTER AMBIANCE AND SERVICE THAN YOURS!!!<br/><br/>And u know what I was served with cockroach in raita!!

Been there for official party, best place to try Arabian dishes, nice ambience, clean. Buffet is also decently priced. Overall recommended 👍
