Awesome place to have lunch. Food quality is also good, but be careful if you are driving there, coz there is no parking place for car as it's on very crowded area/ road but for bike you will get some place to park

If you're looking for a veg restaurant in Adyar don't look beyond VB. Tasty food served with care. Their staff retention rate is very high don't be surprised if the staff remembers your past order and asks if they should repeat :-)

The best place to have afternoon meals in that vicinity for sure. Parking is an issue here. The most important thing is this restaurant is fully air-conditioned. Chennai heat in the afternoons, this is very necessary.

Will be satisfied with the taste and the quantity of the meals at lunch they provide. For dine in they charge Rs. 100 per person, which is fair price for the quantity of food they provide.

When in need of South Indian lunch if I am in Adyar locality, this is my most preferred hotel. Best value for money. Food quality, quantity and service of their staff are excellent. The only disadvantage is in finding a parking space and walking over to the hotel.

Completely satisfied with the taste of food. Whenever I get chance to eat outside, I prioritize eating in Vasantha Bhavan food chain because the quality of food, manner of serving and list of items remind me the traditional way of Indian feast when we used to sit down and have our food. During the peak time there is heavy rush and may be you have to wait for sometimes. Here you can also get options for Chienese food, Tandoori, deserts and beverages.

we went to have a lunch for 30 people on Sunday, its busiest time but they tried to manage us. they have to improve to manage such a crowd, it will take us 2 hours to complete our lunch. Car parking is good. Only Ac hall available their. Table service wise good they tried their best. Rice is not cooked fully, we ordered special meals but its take a half an hour to the get the meals to us. overall need to improve the service, food.

Authentic South Indian food, all the hotel staff is very much friendly lovable & ladies old age staff is very kind you feel like you're in home and they are serving you a meal. Food is awesome

Food was good. Providing unlimited meals for 100. But service can be better. Staffs are not paying attention to the customers. They are simply relaxing and chit chatting. If staffs work properly, i would have give more than 5.

This place used to be my dad’s favourite restaurant for a long time. Huge dining area, really good location, my family used to frequent here when I was young. The quality and hygiene has gone down significantly over the years, and even my dad refuses to dine here these days. With such a huge place and opportunity, it’s sad to see the restaurant go down like this.

Ordered chocolate dosa and that was disaster.Can you imagine a taste of food made up of fermented rice batter and chocolate syrup??? Never order this this and I urge restaurant to remove this from menu.

Can't believe that you scrupulous turds till run this business.Been a while I admonished you people in line with the disgusting food you all served us in the Namma veetu outlet in ECR under your flagship name.Sure the pole needs to be up your Chef's end for screwing up a dish as simple as mushroom pulao.It's called chamignon avec riz a persie you schmucks.<br/>And we ordered that for a vegetarian child in a all non veg dinner.<br/>Sorry Zomato but I do hate Vasanta Bhavan !Yuck food.

It's been 4th time here and giving my review, This place renovated from inside with dine in ac room available now with all the renovation and interiors they have done but the service, quality and taste i think this restaurant serve better south indian food than any other famous south restaurant in chennai. I have tried all the big names franchise from top to bottom but the taste and quality with the reasonable price i think this restaurant serve better food with quality and taste. I would say the chutney is awesome here, Now they are serving OXIFY water bottle with their name on bottle. I am giving 4 star this time as compared to last time i have rated 3 star.

Decided to give this place a try after getting bored of other veggie restaurants. Ordered for panner butter masala and spring rolls. The spring rolls were stuffed with schezwan noodles 🤔. This was a new dish altogether. The noodles were actually tasty. The covering of spring roll was still raw in some places. Not a good spring roll or rather noodle roll. The paneer butter masala was a tub of red gravy where few panner pieces were swimming. It was very average in taste. It definitely did not justify the bill amount of ₹363. Not worth a try. Maybe it's better to stick to a known place.

Went here for lunch on way to Mahabalipuram..Decent food- ordered a chennai thali and found it quite good.. other than the sevai, all other dishes in the thali were sour .. uttapam, dosa ordered were good as well..

The restaurant looks nice from outside. But dont be fooled by their menu. Guaranteed idlis and dosas are amazing but when it comes to desserts my local icecream 'thallu vandi' guy serves better ice cream than these guys. Their so called "falooda" is simply fruits and cheap ice cream. Nothing else.No sabja seeds, no semiya, no jelly, no nuts. And they charge 140 rs for it. Go to cool biz next to coronet hotel which is 5 mins from this cheat restaurant. Either these guys should stick to basic cuisine or learn to make a simple falooda which takes 5 mins to prepare. Also their milk shakes taste horrible.

This place is what it is meant to be. A place to eat and move. The ambiance & hygiene do not exist. But the food is okay and the prices low. At least it is a honest hotel than the others in Adyar which serve horrible food at steep prices only because of its ambiance or lack of it.

The least i have rated any restaurant .. just in a sentence if i need to sum up my experience .. it's as messy as the menu card updated on zomato by the restaurant management .. i had ordered a tandoori meals (what ever hell that means) .. 2 so called roti sides still fresh dough .. mushroom pakodas (avoid) .. mushroom gravy (avoid) .. dal (full of water with Dal settled at bottom) .. had to ask for rasam even if it was not in the scheme of tandoori meals .. just not to have felt bad throwing away a couple of hundreds on this experience.. even before i could ask for some desserts / juice to beat the heat .. they were prompt in getting me the bill .. probably a franchise of vasantha bhavan .. gone are the days when you enjoyed a good meal here ...

An old school restaurant that offers a variety of items at a very nominal price. The taste is straight dont expect something out of the box. You wont be let down by the two types of podi and the side dishes they offer. Their rice items are okayish but their roti and gravies are good. <br/><br/>Ambience is little bad and needs a renovation. But for this price it is a place that wont let you down.

Such a poor services. Ordered food and waited for 45mins. Waited for dosa. People don't even care about the consumers. For taking ordered they have grabbed 30mins. After ordering waited for 45mins. Now a days Vasantha bhavan is loosing thr customer service

I and my friend went on a weekend around 11:00 in the night. It was closing time and still they took order from us.<br/><br/>We had plain dosas first. They gave varieties of side dish - 2 types of chutnies, 3 types of podis with oil, 3 types of sambar.<br/><br/>The kadappa sambhar was awesome and I loved it.<br/><br/>Then we ordered oothapam, it was good. The waiter billed only for one oothapam instead of two and he mentioned since the oothapam was made small in a hurry, they did not charge for 2 oothapams.<br/><br/>Best service and awesome food.<br/><br/>I thought it was costly but after looking at the price I felt it worth every penny spent and I want to go here again.

Had a mushroom Biriyani, sambhar vadai, onion uthappam. Biriyani was way too oily n it was more of a fried rice than biriyani, total let off😒. Sambhar vadai was okayish. Onion uthappam had a number of sides to go with which made it somewt better to eat. Paid 303 for unsatisfactory dinner 😥.

Very Worst on quantity and quality. No worth for money we pay. Ordered panner tikka. Got 4 tiny square shaped pieces added with  tomato,onion & capsicum more inbetween just to project its tikka. That Bread can be holded within a babies hand and rated 75 :(<br/><br/>Even a road side dhaba will provide more quantity and quality that this stupid guys. If you don't know how to make provide a good dish no point in stealing money from public in name of 'Pure vegetarian hotel' in a main locality.<br/><br/>Very worst on all aspects. Very easy to spot opposite the petrol bunk (just before adyar bus depot), I have ordered two meals along with 2 other friends. Just average meals in fact with not much great varieties. Parking is a big headache on this road.

Actually there is new restaurant they have opened opp the old one. It has great ambiance and for 2 idly they serve a 5 different types of gravy the cost bit much. But the Taste is totally worth the service is also good. <br/>Ps: it's the new Vasantha Bhavan opp the old one

We were eating out food and we were informed the table is reserved for another party and hence we must finish fast. We were in the process of ordering more food when we were literally asked to finish up to accommodate a bigger group. We are unhappy with the artitude of the manager. Even before we could complete the coffee, the server was wiping the table and sofa. We have heard and witnessed the same with Vasantha bhavan in Phoenix mall.

FitandFood is new to chennai, so I have given him a commitment to take him to every food chain of TN that serves South Indian food. ( someone has told this Mallu boy , chennai has good tiffin items :P) .<br/><br/>After knocking off the major ones...VB was almost the pushed to last.<br/><br/>Orders :<br/>PONGAL : It was goey, with generous amount of ghee and pepper seasoning. This pongal almost trigged my Sunday lousy sleeping.<br/><br/>BUTTER MASALA DOSA: Size of the Dosa was commendable, with correct amount of filling. Surprisingly this was an online order, still the masala didn't get moist and ruin the Dosa. 5 stars Straight away.<br/><br/>SAMBAR : I usually expect the sambar to be superlicious. Here it was just passable. Other chutneys were also edible.<br/><br/>Verdict : I have dined Vb umpty time of times, consistency is the key and I hope they try that.<br/><br/>

This place is good only for Dosa. They make good ghee roast and the best thing is that you get chilli powder and oil.  Apart from that, everything is overpriced. Took meals parcel for 75, but it was not worth it.<br/>Don't look much for ambiance, it is one of those classic restaurants that will remind you about your childhood days from the 90's.

One of my frequent place for veg food . Decent with old look which i always like tradition look. Used to go with family. <br/>Side dishes: 2 types of podi and 2 chutnies green, red placed in the table apart from coconut chutney and sambar.<br/>Idly is decent with extra side dish { vadacurry .......} which is different for each day.<br/>Sambar idly and vada- decent and standard.<br/>Dont try rava dosa -horrible<br/>Other dosa varieties,Bombay meals - okish<br/>Gobi manchurian - below average.<br/>Overall okish veg food with aunthentic and traditional one in adyar.<br/>Costwise ok compared to veg restuarants in adyar.

My all time favourite dish in this hotel is sambar idli. You can't get this sambar idli anywhere.<br/>Next to Ratna cafe sambar idli my choice would be this hotel.<br/><br/>My ratings is only for sambar idli :)<br/>1 plate of sambar idli is ₹30.

I'd give it a negative value for its lack of hygiene and terrible service. Here's the word, skip it. The Sagar shop not too far from this one beats it for taste and cost.

Good Lunch meal at Vasanth Bhavan after so so much shout of its name in Chennai and  we tried the north Indian meal what gave the Mix of south n North flavor in all items but we are ok as long as the price is cheaper.

This place is a darling to my heart, authentic, traditional and pocket friendly. <br/><br/>If you will like to have a best in class, hygienic south Indian food, for a very less price... This is the only place around adyar. <br/><br/>Being a frequent visitor to the veggie best, I would suggest some improvements on the ambience could score more and attract more visitors.

A sterotypical vasantha bhavan or rather a stereotypical veg restaurant in Tamil Nadu. Standard south indian menu. I found this branch in adyar to be the best branch of vasantha bhavan in Chennai, taste wise. Service is ok. The place is dull and gloomy though. Meals and dosa are good.

I am a big time food lover and have tried almost every small shop in and around Adyar. For some reason I was apprehensive about this Vasantha Bhavan and never thought of eating there. May be because of the dull looks or the normal people who serve there. After trying almost all places, left with no more choices, entered this place one day for dinner. A plate of Idi I order and what I got startled me - Two idlis with sambar, white chutney, green chutney, red chutney, two different types of podi-  Man!! that was too much. and surprisingly- everything tasted so good. I trace back my roots to a village where good food is spicy food. 8 years in Chennai and u don't find many places where you get those striking flavors in your daily food. And this place - they just got it right- the chutneys and the podi and the sambar - everything had its authentic native flavor. Upon inquiry I found out that all the podi items and the masala items are home made at the owner's place in Trichy and that explained the authentic taste. Now this place has become my regular breakfast after my morning run.Its easy on the pocket too. Two things that don't impress people here are- the dull ambience and the not so active servers. But I would still prefer the place for the rich tastes it offers.

A typical branch of vasanta bhavan. They are South Indian and have been here for years. The restaurant looks lil dull and serve the South Indian meals for lunch and tiffen items morning and night. The dosa as always it's very good.<br/>The service is slow. The waiters take a lot of time. Drop in here if you are real hungry. That would alone do. I had lunch recently at vasanta bhavan and I must say it has lost its charm from the past few years! Sad! It used to be one of the best places to have food. Though I am glad the sambhar still tastes good and the same! This restaurant was my abode for breakfast during weekends.Situated on the lattice bridge road , this veg restaurant serves you tasty food.The ambience is not that great and some may be hesitant to enter. Some may have apprehensions about the food quality.Don't worry,take it from me,I have had food from here innumerable times and not even a single time did I face an issue with the food.Liked their masala dosa a lot.sambar and chutneys taste better than Adyar sree bhavan.

An average restaurant in typical vasanta bhavan style quite close to adyar telephone exchange and seemingly its only big advantage approachability from the main road. Stop here if you are really hungry and have no other options and do so without much expectations. Another word of advice is to not venture beyond the usual south indian tiffins.

I used be huge fan of vasantha bhavan, Tambram. But this branch fails to impress as much. I have tried their meals and tiffen items. Food is pretty much like any other branch. Felt that the pricing is bit on the higher side compared to the quantity provided. But I love their ghee Pongal. It is one of the best Pongal I ever had. Ambiance quite poor for its standard, but still nothing to complain about when it fills your hungry tummy :)<br/><br/>Will recommend it if you want to have some good south Indian food, on the go. But definitely not a place for even small gatherings.

This place literally sucks...... The service is slow and the waiters have no respect for the customers. I was asked to place an order without a menu card and the waiter seemed to be so busy that he went on to serve another customer without taking my order. This is just the start. The food was not cooked properly at all. One who wants to have good food, might lose his appetite if he walks into this joint.... Stay Away !!!!!

It was a long hectic work day for me. I had to travel from the top to bottom of the city. A day without breakfast and lunch will definitely be the toughest part for everyone. Hence it was the toughest day of my life. Finally it should be somewhere between 5 o clock in the evening. I was in adyar, looking forward to complete a set of work. After that i had to be in another place within 7 pm. When i crossed the road, the sign board of vasanta bhavan. My hunger pulled me into that place and made me order for some stomach filling food. The ambiance deserves a 50% as it is not that very satisfying. The moment i finished eating i felt quite better. Hectic work, stomach filling food etc seemed to be the greatest day of my life. Visit this place for tasty food.
