Review House #22 Cafe - Chennai (Madras)

Great ambience and decor. Loved sitting in there and just looking at everything. The best part about it was that the interior was chilled and it felt good after coming in from the afternoon heat. Food came fast enough, tasted good [mostly] portions we're adequate but maybe overpriced by 50 rupees per item. Service was good. Attendants were polite and courteous. Oh right, I said mostly. I ordered something called a Blue Hazel Latte and God did it taste like crap. I hope whoever invented the concept of this drink is rotting in hell. Overall, not somewhere you'd go for amazziinnggg food. But if you want to hang out at a nice place (especially a date with your partner) this is a good place to be. Great decor, good food, might be out of your budget.

Good place to have food with friends. Food is bit costly compared to the quantity they serve but really tasty food. One thing that you should know is that if you order a food it will take quite some time to get served. Also place is not so crowded. People expecting pure South Indian dishes avoid this place as this place is good for Continental foods.

A good place. It has an open area where you can sit and eat under the sky. It has place inside as well. Well decorated with the trees and lights. Food is good and cheap. But their service is little slow. You need to wait around 15 min for your order. A good place to spend quality time with your loved ones. Pizzas are a must try.

A cozy place ideal for almost any occasion. I've been here with colleagues for offical meetings, with my wife for a relaxed evening and alone to while away free time. You can choose to sit inside the air-conditioned cafe or outside when the weather is pleasing. The service and food quality in pretty good too.

A few friends wanted to catch-up for lunch at some cafe near Guindy. I never knew we were heading to this place until we stopped right here. About 2 years I had a horrible experience. Twice actually. I remember sending back some food because it was undercooked. The place had minor alterations and this time, the food was just brilliant. They took a long time for every dish. But worth the wait as the food was great. Hope they retain this quality 🤘 Loved the pineapple chicken pizza 💕

Good ambience. An old bungalow converted to a state of art cafe which makes it a must visit for people who seek for good places around Chennai to hang out. The food was good not great. The rates were fairly equal as compared to other cafes around the area.

I had been to the cafe a few months ago during my trip to Chennai. The cafe has a wonderful vintage ambiance and exudes class. The food is continental and all the dishes that we ordered were exceptional. Specially the zucchini pizza bites and the broccoli apple salad were top notch. Kudos to the management for giving me a fantastic experience.

It's my favorite place in Chennai. The only place which makes me not wanna go home. I spend my evenings here when the weather is good. They can improve the menu by giving more options. But tasty food. Good service.

Superb Ambience to hangout and Chill. Doesn't feel like you are inside a City. I literally felt like I am in some cafe in Pondicherry. Only thing I didn't like is the Service as at 10pm they asked to place last order as kitchen closes at 10.30pm. However timing posted on website says 11pm. Considering the place and ambience, they should serve till late.

A very quaint old Chennai house converted into a cafe. A meal for one is around 500 to 600 rs. Outdoor seating where you can smoke is available and the indoor seating is air conditioned nicely. Wonderful service. Parking is available right outside.

But for the ambience, there is nothing in the place. Service is pathetic and they don't have most of the items in the menu card. The best was under beverage section, they list WATER. :) If you have nothing to do in life and just want to sit for a long time without being disturbed, you can go to #HouseNo22 but definitely not for eating ;)

Amazing Ambience and Mouthwatering Dishes!! Best place to hang around.

Hi guys I'll describe in order okay. I love your place and the fashion ramp and beautiful chairs and tables outside it. But on the inside I love the cute figurines and the beautiful antique telephone. One thing though, why is the guy only the toilet right next to the Laptop Ganesha? Also Girlfriend thinks that Marilyn Monroe belongs to a different category than Megan Fox and Anne Hathaway. I love the beautiful mirror that allowed us to take cute pictures of ourselves. On the inside the rooms are comfy and nice. And your Chilli Cheese sandwich lives up to its name by being full of chillies and cheese. Also Girlfriend thinks your pasta is homely. Lots of love to the extremely adorable ghost on the graffiti that says "Boo �". ~Poofy.

Food is pretty good and tasty. The drinks are delicious and apt for the weather. Ambience is amazing. But the servicing took way too long.Only upside is that the food was piping hot when served.

Excellent ambiance. Staffs were very cordial. Dishes were very delicious.

Yesterday I and friend booked a photo shoot in House #22.If ur looking for a photoshoot please confirm hourly charge before u start.The guy in House #22 doesn't care abt us and he simply charged 4000 for 1 hr shoot unpleased...earlier he has confirmed as 2000. the guy doesn't open mouth to talk what really happens there...without our confirmation, he has swiped 4000 as a bill for the shoot ...Worst service....how he can take others money without even asking.....

I have done photo shoot in house 22 . It was a amazing place which is in city limit .I also felt comfortable while Iam working. U can also see my photography in ERNEST MEDIA.

Beautiful ambiance overall.. Very well maintained outdoor space for get together and other events.

Nice place to hangout wit excellent ambience except the fact that u r not allowed to take snaps inside De coffee shop.

My sis has turned an old house into a beautiful hang out spot. I can now spend all day sipping tea or soup, munching short-eats, and biting into idlys, dosas (in the mornings), pastas and sandwiches.

I visited this cafe along with my ex colleague. We were looking for a place to sit and chat in a clutter less cafe. We ordered cappuccino and cold coffee. The team took good 40 minutes to serve our order. Adding to our disappointment, the quality of the coffee was not good. The same goes with chilly fries. What I did not like about this cafe was the service. There were 3 to 4 well dressed hip young men as stewards and they do not bother to ask what we want or bring our orders on time or serve water. They were quite busy in gossiping and exchanging jokes and do not care for customers. I do not recommend this cafe for anyone. Very poor service.

This place was in my list for so long as I had heard so much about its ambience. <br/>It’s a old house converted to a cafe with a beautiful outside seatings. <br/>The interiors are done well with wall hangings , comfortable cushions & pleasant lighting. <br/>But we rather took a table outside in the open. <br/>Coming to the menu, it was quite small to my expectation specially for vegetarians. This place has been on my bookmarks for literally ages! I must admit though the location might not be appealing to many, for me that was the best part! Beautiful bungalow turned into a cafe. Couldn’t make use of the outdoor seating. Went in the afternoon and well , you know the chennai sun! I had normal fries (not cheese, yeah on a diet right!) and cottage cheese pizza. Fries were fresh and good. Could have had more dips though! Cottage cheese pizza was good with zucchini, olives and bell peppers. Nothing too great but still could have it once. Overall I loved the ambience of the cafe and would definitely try it out again but wish they extend their menu to include more variety and more veg dishes!

This place is really nice especially their ambience. It's basically a house kinda place where they have decorated as a restaurant. I really enjoyed looking at their decor. Coming to the food, they don't have much varieties but the menu was good. I had mushroom venete, then a very pizza and a penne pasta, they were good, cannot find any flaws, finally had a chocolate brownie which was kinda hard outside but creamy inside. I liked it.<br/>Service wasn't upto the level, they lacked servers.<br/>Otherwise the place is great and they have outdoor seating, hope it'll be nice at nights.

My favourite spot. Love to hang out here n the evenings after office hours. Very calm and lovely ambience. Food taste, quality and service are really good, but they should increase the food options. Other than that, it's a great place!

Me and my friend wanted to try this place for so long and one fine evening we did.. the place has a calm ambience great for a cup of coffee with a friend or a colleague.. the pizza was delicious with a crust of the perfect soft and crunchy ratio 💙 the Alfredo pasta was amazing as well.. they have a botique coming up too .. on the whole a calm and soothing experience and I would definitely suggest this place if you are tired walking up that hill 😂😂

Loved the ambience. Great for any creative work. Writing and reading. The Irish coffee is amazing. Pizza is good too. The outdoor seating and the greenery brings the creator in you. The service is great and the people are polite and humble.

After several failed plans, and a lot of speculation, we had no option but to visit House #22 cafe for our weekend dinner. The reviews and the ratings on Zomato must’ve given us an idea (yes, we fell for the ambiance), but little did we realize what we had signed up for. It was a deserted place on a deserted road, with just about lighting to get a glimpse at the silhouette of the place. As you enter, there’s a little greenery, but it does nothing to please. Mostly looks like it has been put in place for the sake of it.

It's a good cosy place to hangout with your loved one! Inhouse ambience! Vintage style! Taste was not up to the mark! Try spending your eve with your partner!

Absolutely dismal food. We ordered cheesy masala fries and a chilly cheese sandwich. The was barely any cheese on the plate of fries and whatever cheese was there was sticking to the bottom of the plate. We had to scrape the cheese of the sides of the plate. Their sandwich was the absolute worst. It seemed like someone had chopped onions in a hurry and just threw them inside the sandwich. The onion pieces were too big to take a bite that we ended up opening the sandwich to remove the onion pieces. The place itself seemed like it had seen better days. What an absolute waste of a pretty space

I would like to start with the ambience as it is superb great for evening dates and yeah especially their outdoor seating.Inside it’s literally perfect place for the word “VINTAGE”. It do matches the name House as because the interiors and its decors are like a house and it gives the feeling of being at house. Even who want to spent time for sometime alone they can keep this place as their first choice as it’s too calm and the music soothes you.<br/><br/>FOOD: I ordered for Veg Melts, Sandwiches and Babycorn Fries and ended with Brownie and Nuts shakes. All my order list tastes good. They don’t have huge menu as comparing with other cafe’s. <br/>I couldn’t find anything which tastes extraordinarily.They can even add more on menu as the varieties are very few.<br/><br/>SERVICE: They were so kind and give us a pleasant smile which i feel that every people must have while they take orders and also when they service the food. It was there throughout my dining. Best place ever. The looks the way they treated us the food everything was so nice. We ordered a chicken stew, Hawaiian chicken pizza, mademoiselle penne pasta , Petto di polo ripieno platter and last but not the least a cold coffee. The best one was the pizza, I've never tasted such delicious pizza the crust was so perfect. I was a lunch plan but we decided to finish our dinner. Perfect place for a romantic dinner. The lighting in the park makes you feel special. The ambience and decor being too good. But the food is not up to the mark. Less varieties. Service was a little bit slow. I had a milkshake which was termed different but at the end what I had was just vanilla ice cream with 7up. These guys have such an amazing location ! An old bungalow turned to a restaurant. I was so excited. I had a 3 hour layover in Chennai airport enroute Pune . So we decided to drop in here. It’s pretty, they have a good seating within the rooms of the bungalow. Pleasant and charming to see the. However, they’ve just overdone it by haphazardly placing a couple of unnecessary things.<br/>But otherwise I like the look, feel and warmth this place offers. The waiters could be a little more professional. One of them didn’t quite understand what we were ordering . <br/>The food is good but not exceptional. I like how they let you choose a half portion. That helped a bit in not wasting food and also getting to taste an additional dish. <br/>We ordered mademoiselle pasta and a chicken stew. Pasta was a tasty,desi and creamy. The stew was served with fried rice which was unusual for me. But it didn’t taste bad. It was average . <br/>We ordered a lemon ice tea which was sweet and yet good. <br/>Overall they could’ve done much better. <br/>But the place is lovely :)

The location and the ambience of the house is perfect and that was the reason we decided to check out this place. But trust me the food was not that great and everything that they served took a lot of time to come, the service was bad and food was stale.

This place was pending for very long days Cuz of the distance.. Atlast hit this place for a weekday lunch.. Can b located very easily.. I saw the place is sooooooooo old.. But I did get that weird smell Asa I enter.. Like some places is dumped for long time or whether it's paint smell I couldn't judge.. Really good ambience and decor, isolated tables that grant you some peace and privacy. Food not up to the mark though and the service is a little slow. Would like to suggest that they add a few more vegetarian options in the menu too. Also, why were there bikes parked inside among the tables in the open area?!

Quite nice place. Their garden seating is very cool. Interior was not so comfortable as the air-condition was not proper. Food tasted great. I loved their cheesy pasta, milkshake and fish grill.. their stew was average. Definitely a nice place to spend a lot of time.

Firstly didn't notice this place existed until recently. Loved the ambience especially at night. The place looks amazing with the lights an all. The price I felt was little high. Food was decent. Overall a nice cosy place for date or casual hangout

Beautiful ambience, that's the first thing I remember when it is house #22. Have visited this place to catch up with friends a few times during evenings so have tried their short eats and beverages, yet to try their main course.<br/><br/>Short eats:<br/>1. Spiced chicken : One of my most favorite dish which is this chicken cooked in salsa sauce and served with cheese topped on it. Totally melts in your mouth and tastes perfectly great. I order this almost every time I go there, btw it has 2 pieces of I doubt is chicken breast.<br/><br/>2. Classic fries : Nothing special, simple crisp fries served with tomato ketchup.<br/><br/>3. Baby Corn crisps : Baby Corn bajji in short. Tasted good and is just a normal dish.<br/><br/>Cold Beverages:<br/>1. Irish coffee & Hazelnut coffee: Very tasty, yum served in Mason jars.<br/><br/>2. Masala tea: I doubt it tasted like a normal tea but 125rs is little on the higher side.<br/><br/>Hot beverages:<br/><br/>1. Hazelnut cappuccino : It's a okey dokey one with good flavor of hazelnut.<br/><br/>2. Unhappy with the customer service. Very slow. Ordered a chicken sandwich (325/-) that tasted average. The Pizza dough seemed like it was in the freezer for way too long. Rating them 2.5 for the lemon ginger mint drink that tasted very good. The rest was a sad affair. The place is falling apart with no airconditioner where we were seated.

Out of 4 dishes ordered, the restaurant didn't have two. We were told about this 10-15 mins after ordering the food. <br/>Food was average.<br/>Not coming here again.

Good ambience but very poor service. One ac not working. Order delayed after reminding staff. Supervisor kept saying they are under staffed. Plates not clean and broken. Even after reordering the plates were not clean. Juice ordered with out ice but served with ice. On re ordering same juice was served after removing the ice so still cold. Underaged staff.

we went for lunch to House cafe 22. The ambiance is good. If you need better ambiance go for dinner. We ordered veg items like zuppa minestrone soup, fungi pasta, pizza vedure pizza. Everything good. Enjoy the real Italina taster. Fungi  is Penne pasta with creamy white sauce and pizza is wood fired one of the best pizza in the city. If you like Italian food better try thsi. Prize also normal.

I go here all time for it's ambiance!! The citrus cold lemon iced tea with hot pizza makes my day!! I ll give a 4.0 for service and 4.5 for the food quality 😋

I wanted to be here for a long time and today I could manage it. I went for an early lunch as my client rescheduled his meeting little later. They have enough available street Parking. Ambiance is more like a cafe or Deli you will see in the west. Very good. Place gives you the quietness to plan and think. I ordered a Brocolli Minestorne along with some fries. Soup was pretty good however when i placed the order I asked for crushed bell pepper which I couldn't find. The cheese omelette was finger licking good. They need to improvise on their menu.

This cute vintage cafe is located near kathipara junction and is quite easy to locate. Slightly away from the bustling streets, one could easily fall in love with its ambience.<br/><br/>Coming to the food, we ordered cottage cheese pizza, white sauce pasta, spicy chicken and chilly cheeze fries. Being a hardcore spicy food lover, spicy chicken turned out to be a huge disappointment as it did not have what it takes to be named spicy. Pizza here, tasted brilliant with the right amout of veggies, sauce and cheese. Though not a big fan of pasta, I can say it tasted good by looking at my friends having foodgasm. <br/><br/>The decor of this cafe is something that looks like its straight outta 60s. Well maintained. Service here needs to be improved as we had to wait for more than 20mins to refill our glasses with water. Beautiful Ambience!! It's a house themed cafe and you actually feels like you are at home! Though food needs some improvement! I ordered blue haze latte and pink sauce pasta but didn't like either. Then I chose to go by usual brownie milk shake which was better! <br/>But still I would recommend for romantic hangouts. May be I was wrong in choosing from menu, you may find something better.

Planned for a get together with my cousins and they picked this place. Worth going there, especially for it's ambience. Fortunately for us, it rained when we were there. And the outdoor seating, the garden, the stage were lit up with the lights. Night time, the rain and the place, everything made the night perfect. The ramp walk stage was so sexy.<br/>Coming to food, we ordered cheesy fries and baby corn crisps in starters. Both were good, especially baby corn crisps was the hero of the day. In mains, we ordered veg club sandwich, Alfredo and funghi pasta, masala omlette and chilly cheesy sandwich. Veg club sandwich was very good but chilly cheesy sandwich well they should have just named it as chilly sandwich. Too much chilies inside the sandwich. Masala omlette was good but both pastas were just plain white sauce pasta. Food wasn't that great to brag about. And in desserts, we ordered brownie with ice cream, brownie and oreo shakes. Brownie was good but the shakes tasted like shampoos. To sum up, food was totally not worth the money.<br/>Service was very very poor. No spoons, fork, tissues, even water was provided on the table. The set up is really good but the taste of the pasta and pizza is okay.. Petto di polo chicken was really delicious. The rate is bit high but other than that a good place to hang out with friends

This place was on my 'to-visit' list for quite some time. Finally managed to convince my friends to go there and wasn't disappointed. <br/><br/>Food- We loved the Chilli cheese fries! Pizzas were good, pink sauce pasta was amazing (they have pink pasta for non veg only but on our request they made a veg one by adding some brocolli and bell pepper instead of Chicken). Lemonade and brownie shake were satisfactory. <br/><br/>Service - Very friendly. We aksed them for a brocolli and black olives salad (sauted) which was no where in the menu but they agreed to make one for us. <br/><br/>Ambience - the place actually looks like a house which has been converted to cafe. The outdoor seating looked really great (though because of rains we couldn't sit there). Overall quite a refreshing experience!

The ambience is very beautiful which is a rarity in this area, for that matter a cafe itself is a rarity in an area filled with biriyani places. <br/><br/>The food leaves a lot to be desired. Being a gang of 12, we managed ordering almost all short eats. Baby corn crisps were very salty, veggie melts were below average, mushroom vente tasted so much of the milk in the base sauce. The omelettes, spicy chicken were good. The pizza base was quite hard and wasn't great. The biggest shock was Astro nut milk shake which didn't have any nuts in it but was an average strawberry milk shake. The other milk shakes were no great shake too. Very very pricey for the quantity and quality of food. <br/><br/>Good place if you are coming for the ambience and leisurely time and not focussing on the food.

I've been planning to visit this place for quite sometime and atlast went there for dinner with my friends. Outdoor lighting was not so great. Food was ok not bad not great... i felt it lost its charm. But the ambience was good. Different place in that area to dine.

This was a treat from a friend for his new job . Everybody wanted go to a cafe and chill. We heard about this from a juniour. I was very skeptical to go, after I entered the place, ambience was amazing . The food the pizza every bite was awesome..but the quantity I felt was lesser .<br/><br/>You need to have nice time go here for the old vintage ambience .<br/><br/>Food tasted good .<br/><br/>But quantity was less on the plate.

I would rate: Ambience: 4/5, Food: 2/5, Service: 3/5; Ordered a Penne Arrabiata and Blue Haze Latte (House Special Shake) didn't like the taste of any. A big no for food according. But they have got a nice seating area outside, maybe good to hangout with friends.

I have never eaten such pathetic food and the service was extremely poor. Water was served only after 40 mins of our arrival. The pasta n the soups were absolutely bad n so was the baby corn crisps. Decided not to visit this place ever!

Went there for lunch on a weekday,the place was quiet and calm. Ordered fish and chips,white sauce pasta and iced tea.Loved the food as well as the ambience.

Just had my Sunday lunch at House #22 Cafe. First of all the ambience is too good and its a calm place and it would be a perfect spot to hangout with bunch of Friends or host small parties, the place can be used for making discussions and having good time and another added advantage is since it is near cantonment area there's no traffic sounds on road too and one can sit here and enjoy the place and also the food. The food tastes delicious and everything is very fresh and for the pizza's even the crust is made very fresh. Try this place once mainly Pasta's and then you will come here often. The only disadvantage here is a bit slow service. Forgot to mention there's even tables in open air and give them a try.

That's some serious benchmark of how bad services can be at any​ restaurant ! Tough one for others to beat em on that.<br/><br/>Those 2 stars are for food and ambiance alone.

Thz is definitely a place to rem! Loved the ambiance❤ service was flawless...first visit was on a lazy evening and we had the Astro-nut shake, hazel nut shake n the mud cake wit ice cream! Wasn't really impressed wit t mud cake buh both the drink were awsum! Esp the astro-nut, peanut butter flavoured shake was supa'delicious! Then started going there often and I love their sandwiches n pasta...Pricing is a bit on t higher end so I wud rate t VFM as 3 on 5! Buh 5 on 5 for the ambiance and it'll remain our regular hang out spot!

It's a very pleasant place located at a very chilled out place. The interior is something very interesting. The service was good. <br/>Coming to the food, the variety of dishes is good in the menu but they weren't having few of the items but the food served was good enough with amazing presentation. I went to this place on a sunday evening with my friends recently . The place has lost its charm than the last time i visited it. The garden sit out is breezy but mosquitoes torture you, the place inside is stuffy and the dim light and the arrangement either gives you a old dull haunted look, which should be looked upon. Food wasn't extraordinary not so bad either. Out of the many things we had, chicken salad was good and the hot chocolate should be a try.

Its located right opposite alandur metro station. Inside the street, free street space available for parking.<br/>Ambiance  is good, its built like a colonial cafe. They have both outdoors & indoors seating. Food wise, its ok.  Some dishes weren't that great.

Seriously my first thought was, "are you telling me this isn't a haunted house?" <br/>Keeping in mind that it is supposed to be vintage and rustic according to the theme, but as soon as we entered we were welcomed by a mild stench! We then shifted our seats and it was OK!<br/>We tried the chicken lasagne which wasn't nice at all! Just 2 sheets of pasta stuffed with minced chicken. No cheese, no sauce, no flavours! <br/>The drinks we ordered were pretty great. Hazelnut cold coffee and a lemonade! But it's still quite pricey! <br/>There place is kind of very quite and serene when we visited. I felt it's well suited for book lovers and brooding poets!

The ambience is really homely.It has a terrace outdoor as well as indoor seating.<br/>The staff is great.The menu does not have a lot of items.<br/>I had a margerita it was fine .The crust was really thin and crispy <br/>The only drawback was that it is not cool enough in the afternoon.The acs do not work properly.<br/>But, in all it is fine.

Vintage looking outlet with very unique name of dishes on the menu having a great vibe of positivity and strength in its location. Good staff humbling from there smile and the way of serving food will make your frictional day into a greased one. Good food I must say there jalepeno mushroom panini was fabulous and lipsmaking. It was very crusty on top and juices from mushroom were oozing out and the panini bread was too tender from innersides. The mud cake was also good. Great job team.

The decor and the ambience was vintage and lovely.. we ordered a hot chocolate and a black cow which was decent.. then we ordered zucchini fritters which was okayish... then we opted for gonala thin pizza and fungi pasta out of which the pasta was good.. overall a decent place to stop by and have dinner

This place has been on the checklist and finally headed here for dinner . Calm place with such a nice ambience . Ordered for a veg soup , chilli cheese toast and gondola's thin pizza . The soup and the toast were good and the crust of the pizza was too. Crispy . Wasn't even able to cut it off with a knife . Tasted to good though .

Visited the place with a friend since we were both thirsty after a long walk. The place looks stunning. Quaint interiors and a spacious garden outside. We ordered a cappuccino and a Green Apple Lemon. The cappuccino was good but the Green Apple Lemon had a little too much Lemon which upset the taste a little. The menu looked promising. Looked worth going back to try the mains.

Okie... This place was a cat on the wall to me, I mean equal number of top positives and negatives... So as a feel good factor let me 1st list the positives that attracted me here... 1. A big yes for the ambiance. If you are a person who explore dine outs for great ambiance then this place might interest you as it did me. This place has a vintage German restaurant theme, which might me difficult to catch if you aren't aware of German culture but that vintage thing surely attracts. 2. The promptness of service, I would clearly state it as the serving etiquette at the optimum, they don't dump you with your order nor they make you wait for someone to pick the order. <br/>Now on the flaws... 1 Big flop Would be the choice of menu or the recipe of the dish, I would surely say it needs a great improvement, ambiance might bring in ppl but it's the food and it's taste that stays in heart, it's high time for them to work on it.

If you're getting here using the Metro, it's really close by. Unfortunately I visited them right after cyclone Vardah had struck our city. So the place was quite broken down, the main boards on the floor and everything.<br/><br/>From what we understand, the Owner of House #22 got married recently and moved away, so her mother has been taking care of the entire place. It's a quiet, pretty place. Decorated well with all these antique looking items. <br/>We ordered:<br/>- chicken and Cheese Omelette <br/>- Cheesy Fries<br/>- Grilled Chicken Sandwich<br/>- Gondala's thin Pizza<br/>- Chicken Lasagna<br/>- strawberry Shake<br/>- Ginger Mint lime<br/>- Hot Chocolate<br/><br/>The Chicken and Cheese Omelette was to die for! Every flavour was perfectly blended. The cheese was just the right amount of cheese with pieces of chicken sausages inside the Omelette. It was served with two slices of toast, and is a MUST try.<br/>The grilled sandwich was decent. The pizza was also just about decent. <br/>The cheesy fries were exactly what the name suggested- cheese over fries. It was mozzarella cheese, and hence hardened on the fries which didn't make it very appealing to me. <br/>The strawberry shake was artificially flavoured, but the Ginger Mint Lime cooler was made really well. My hot chocolate was good hot chocolate. Not the best, but good enough for the locality that we were placed in. <br/>Our chicken Lasagna reached us after we had eaten everything else and hence the appetite to eat it was gone. <br/><br/>If you live anywhere close to St. Thomas Mount , then I would definitely suggest this place.

Went for lunch. Needs a better signboard to catch the eye. The decor is old and the house looks and feels pretty relaxed; service was quick. Food was good, can be better; the fish and chips had a bit of unwanted char, the pasta sauce and the stew had nearly the same flavour; these finer details would improve the place. And, washrooms need to be more clean

Great place to hangout.. good food and good ambience to have long conversations, the staff are pleasant and courteous. Garlic bread and fries are a simple and good option to try. Panini was bad and tasteless. Chairs could be more comfortable. Overall good one time visit.. Doesn't encourage you to visit again.

Decorated with a fine taste.<br/><br/>There's a beautiful terrace but less well maintained.<br/><br/>Now, to the orders :<br/><br/>1.) veg sandwich - me being a picky eater and a veggie , my friend didn't have much options ;) <br/>Priced at 250/- I don't find anything to be specific abt it. <br/>The normal sandwich.<br/><br/>2.) veg melts 175/- same okayish taste.<br/><br/>Now comes the lip smacker...!<br/><br/>3.) Choco piezel - yummmmmmm & slurp -slurp stuff. Perfect for the mood n climate.<br/>Price -195/- was Vfm<br/><br/>4.) Magic espresso : wouldn't give it a total thumbs up either, the magic part of the espresso was missing as they've flaunted -195/-<br/><br/>Total damage :860/- <br/>I think the quality and variety can be improved a lot.<br/>I am yet to explore al the other food counterparts before vouching for its VFM.

I loved this place.. I had been here with my sister.. Firstly the place is very chic, its a house almost more than 150 yrs old converted to a restaurant... So i really loved the interiors. The service was okay...We had to keep calling the staff for service..But the food was  decent. We were there fro 3 hours i think.. :P So it was good place to chill and eat and relax and it was a saturday :)

I was at the court near by this afternoon, so I decided to stop by this place for lunch. The place was deserted, to the point that I couldnt see any staff either, I attributed that to the fact that it was mid afternoon, around 2.30 PM. I had to look for someone to seat me, who disappeared once he did. I had to go back and look for him to remind him that I needed a menu. The fact that the Menu was held together by brown tape wasn't a plus. I was alone, so I decided to order a pizza con pollo, which is apparently a signature dish, and a hazelnut coffee, extra strong. Back to looking for someone to take the order. Once that was done, he brought me a glass of water, the glass was well stained at the bottom and smelled.<br/><br/>Next up, hazelnut coffee. It was more of a chocolate milkshake than a coffee, but still, can't complain about chocolate milkshake.<br/><br/>The pizza which is supposedly a signature dish, tasted very ordinary. The chicken was rubbery and smelled a little, I'm not sure if that's just me, but I ate the pizza minus the chicken.<br/><br/>Again, had to go call someone to bill me, despite being the only customer there, this took another 10 minutes.<br/><br/>Next time I'm in the area, I'm just going to the near by Pizza Hut.

Worst service. the menu is not great.. they don't even come to take your orders... it's like u have to ask them to come take your orders for a long time .. The cafe doesn't even look like one... if anyone is visiting it in the evening they should definitely die from mosquito bites! The pizza however is a must try here !

A disappointment!! Dint serve the purpose of feeding two hungry souls.<br/> We ordered Fish & chips, a chocolate milkshake and chicken Pasta (for takeaway).  it was the first time in my life i had eaten a chicken pasta without any chicken in it. Well done on that guys! And again the fish & chips was burnt and too oily. The chocolate milkshake on the other hand, well better left unsaid! <br/>I am def not happy about paying 1000 bucks to put crappy food in my system<br/>Ambience alone does not matter guys, please ensure the quality of food you serve your customers.

Lovely ambience and a vintage house. Not great at food options but one of the good places to have a nice meet with friends. Expect good privacy and a quite evening. Away from central city's rush.

Ambience - Great place for a quiet evening with your close ones. The ambience of the old house with good old sloped roof is pretty good. Would be even better if there were a few antique stuff display or something to add on to the ambience! The outdoor seating is also pretty good but I think the service would have been much slower! <br/>Food - The food tasted good and the quantity was also good enough for the money! We ordered the chicken Milanese, chicken and cheese omelette, chicken lasagna, chocolate crepe and choco piezel shake! The chocolate crepe was way too sweet for my liking and the choco piezel shake was nothing but a chocolate shake with a fancy name! Everything else was pretty good!<br/>Service - Service was on point, maybe because we were sitting near the kitchen and could find a waiter as and when we wanted! The guy who served us was also friendly!<br/>Overall it was a good place and great value for money!<br/>

Nice place to hangout. An old house converted into a commercial place.. food is ok and not too expensive. But you do not want to go there for the food do you? Sandwich is good, thin crust pizza was ok. Give it a try. You will have ended up having a nice quiet time

We went here dinner and the place was completely during a weekend night.. The place was quite impressive with their decors. We ordered cheesy bites for starters and it good. We Took a meal all day which had a toast, red bean, green apple and brocolli salad, pasta and a fresh juice.The salad was great and pasta was good as well. The red bean tasted like the ones out of the tin.. The club veg grilled sandwich was usual and nothing extraordinary..The card machine was not working and we had to hunt for the ATM to pay them.. No notice earlier when we came in..

A perfect dine-out if you want to spend your night peacefully with an awesome ambience.<br/><br/>A perfect blend of old and new where an old style home is modernized by some modern couch, magazines with a touch of music.<br/><br/>When it comes to food, am not much into Italian and it didn't interest me. So i restrict myself from writing much about the food there.<br/><br/>Hit the cafe, relax, get some good pics and come back satisfied. Cheers.

Not a very welcoming or earthy place to spend the evening with your loved ones as the interiors are not as bright as its supposed to be. the place is little gloomy and dull with "not-really-favorable" items that you wish to purchase, will be set on the display. little have they worked on the presentation of the menu cards while the prices are really high and not worth the output. they have to work on a lotta stuff to improve their interiors, service and presentation of food. you might end up eating a cold pasta or a day old pastry so better be alert on what's coming to your table. not really happy about the place.

We organised our sons bday party at House#22 last week . A small dinner party for close friends and family.<br/>Great Ambiance, Lip smacking food and excellent service.. <br/>we had a great time and will cherish the memories forever.!!

The restaurant is situated in a very calm and quiet place and truly satisfies the "good ambience" place to go.<br/>And the seatings are nicely arranged both indoor and outdoor as per your choice .<br/><br/>But sadly I could not find anything more interesting than this in the place. The service is very slow and the waiter barely comes to attend you until asked for.<br/>The food was just okay and very less in quantity and the presentation was not given much importance.<br/><br/>I would give a 2 for food, 2.5 for service and 4 for ambience.

I visited this place last year where my surprise birthday party was arranged by my friends.. Their ambience is absolutely welcoming with a theme of a neighbourhood house.. The staff were extremely friendly and catered to all our needs without sulking or getting grumpy.. Located in the inner road of butt road, their garden and lights will promise to lighten the mood of anyone.. Their pastries and chicken starters are worth the try.. A very soothing environment with spacious seating arrangements and light music with decent food..

House #22 was one of my last stops at Chennai, actually a treat for 15 people. As the name suggests, it is a petite house themed restaurant with picturesque outdoor seating, beautiful interiors and planned lighting. The entire setting gives one very pleasant vibes. But sadly, that's all there is to this place.<br/><br/>Being a large group, we tasted most items on the menu to find that the food and drinks are just about passable. The quantity does not suffice. One point that requires attention is that the restaurant is seriously understaffed. Our table of 15 was attended to by just one waiter, who hardly checked up on us. We had to search for the waiter to take additional orders. Service, as I mentioned, was poor. The plates were provided only after repeated reminders and some were dirty and broken. The orders were delivered after a long waiting time. There are better restaurants in this price range.<br/><br/>Food - 3/5<br/><br/>Service - 2/5<br/><br/>Ambience - 4/5<br/><br/>Cost - 3/5

My zomato search for this weekend led me to House#22. It does sound like a haunted place, but it's not. It's a mini Amethyst with much more vintage looks. I ordered veg melts but it didn't melt, spicy Paneer panini but it was not spicy ...hmm but it was tasting not bad. Getting service at your table is bit a pain as they just leave you free in your own space. I spent over 3 hours there. A very peaceful place to read or have a casual chit chat with your close friend. Not meant for a noisy group and ofcourse not for foodies.

The place makes you gasp and proclaim, "Wow, a beautiful place tucked away from the noise and commotion of the city." And indeed House No 22 is quaint, with retro interiors and instantly one feels transported into another era BUT when one is lost in the interiors, the food does not matter for it is not anything out of the ordinary. The waiters are rarely found until you go looking for them and most often their gait makes you feel guilty that you have disturbed their stupor. The food quality and service could be improved and doing that will go a long way in making the place and food memorable.
