Review Off The Record - Chennai (Madras)

Gugan
I recently visited this bar in Chennai and had a pleasant experience. The ambiance was lovely, and it provided a nice environment for a relaxing evening. However, I was hoping to hear some Tamil songs to truly immerse myself in the local culture. Despite that, I still enjoyed my time there and would recommend it for those seeking a comfortable place to unwind.”

It's quite rare to give 5 stars but OFF the record doesn't disappoint us. The place was filled with a vibe and you immediately get on with it. That's the atmosphere restobar should give and it did. The place is located on the 1st and rooftop with a pretty good view on the roof and a vibing place in the 1st floor. The DJ really did a great job with his music and the dark shades with vibrant lights near the bar was the stealer. Coming to the food, the taste was amazing and the quantity was decent but was on the pricier end compared to other places. The cocktails were good and as said earlier a bit on the costlier end. The place is a must visit for groups as you could have a wonderful time here having all the time to have fun. The place is a must visit and the service from Ayush was amazing as he didn't miss a thing that we ordered and was really there whenever required. Do check them out.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting OFF The RECORD and experiencing an unforgettable night of music and entertainment. The vibrant atmosphere, coupled with the energetic DJ, created an evening filled with excitement and enjoyment. The DJ at OFF The RECORD knew how to set the mood and keep the crowd engaged throughout the night. Their impressive selection of music catered to a variety of tastes, ensuring there was something for everyone on the dance floor. The transitions between songs were seamless, and the DJ's ability to read the crowd and adjust the tempo accordingly was commendable. The sound system at OFF The RECORD was top-notch, delivering crisp and clear beats that reverberated through the venue. The DJ's skills were further enhanced by the excellent audio setup, creating a dynamic experience that elevated the night's energy. One aspect that stood out was the DJ's ability to interact with the audience. They managed to strike a perfect balance between engaging with the crowd and allowing the music to take center stage. The DJ's infectious energy was contagious, and it was evident that they were genuinely enjoying their craft, which further added to the overall ambiance. Ny experience at OFF The RECORD was fantastic, thanks to the skilled and charismatic DJ. If you're looking for a lively night out with great music and a buzzing atmosphere, I highly recommend checking out this restro bar. Whether you're a music enthusiast or just want to dance the night away, OFF The RECORD and its DJ won't disappoint.

Loved their take on whiskey sour which is my usual go to :) The food was good and we faced no issue with service! The cheesecake was something I was really looking forward to but didn't hit the spot for me. We wanted to go for Tamil night but the drama these staff do to let us in is just ridiculous! Saying they are completely booked and are expecting way more they can accomodate 😑 I hate when places do this! We managed to get in after trying for long

The food was decent and the cocktails were well made. Service was a little slow, but waiters were polite and prompt when called. I liked the view of the sky when i was sitting down but the couches in the seating area tend to get very hot. Sit on the side of the table nearer to the statue for a nice breeze.

Incredible experience! The pulsating beats, vibrant ambiance, and energetic crowd made for an unforgettable night. The DJ played top-notch Bollywood hits, keeping everyone on their feet. A must-visit for dance enthusiasts and Bollywood fans alike!

Truly off the record restro bar. The ambience was exceptional. The portraits on the walls were unique. Best seating, innovative washrooms, a private place for smoking also available. I didn't try any liquor but went with a mocktail 😝. The liquor menu was so innovative that they named it after the underworld dons like Pablo Escobar and Dawood. Coming to the taste of the food it was good, we ordered a cheese mushroom bao and chicken kebab and a Korean J-hope. Much recommended restaurant for alcoholics. I would definitely say this is one of the most happening places on the weekends. The restaurant has a small music venue with a mic, I hope they allow you to sing😅 and dance!
Sayujya Sajilal
Great ambience, great music !! Went there for thursday tamil night, was a great experience. Food whatever ordered came out really good.

Went with an open mind. Got in by 815 or so. Place was not full. So we got seating in the main area. The DJ kept the place filled with punchy numbers right through the evening & even added a touch of retro. The snacks we ordered especially veg were good. All in all a good experience.
PRIYANSHU KUMAR
The ambiance seamlessly marries chic decor with a cozy feel, creating a delightful dining setting. Chef Murgan's each dish is better than other, skillfully blending creativity and tradition for an overall exquisite experience.

A nice quaint place with 2 levels of seating arrangement. You can either choose the more comfortable air-conditioning interior area or the more casual and relaxing open air rooftop area. The menu is varied but with crisp options which I liked.
The Cheesy Fries here are to die for. Along with that I also had the Cheese Stuffed Fried Olives and the Crispy American Corn for veg. The olives were well stuffed with cheese and was something different which I hadn't had before. The corn was decent, really crispy (as the name suggests) and nicely seasoned and spiced. For non-veg, I opted for the Prawns Jhumri and the Cheese Stuffed Chucked Roulade Kabad. My goodness, were they good. The prawns came in their shell, well grilled and butterflied out. And the chicken kababs just melted as soon as I put in my mouth, not to forget they were oozing with cheese. Really worth it.
Sarath was really helpful and polite and even treated us to a complimentary Tiramisu at the end. A perfect end to a great meal !!

DJ is shit! He doesn't understand music. He don't know bhangra songs..not even Tamil songs regarding dance.
Shramana Sen
Bad music. They are xenophobic.
Chidambaram
Awesome. Sarath kumar was an excellent host
Nikhil Lakra
Visited this place for birthday celebration.Food was delicious, specially recommend Broccoli stir fry for vegetarians. Staff was polite and courteous specifically Sharad Kumar. DJ played well too and played Linkin Park. Made our evening. Highly recommend this place.

Waste for stags and not at all worthy for money.
Toooo expensive...
Venkata Krishnan
Off the record - Off from my weekend list. Very expensive against the rate shown. Stags are allowed only on Roof top but the spent against the ambience is very expensive and not worth it at all. Waste of money and time.

Hosting private parties has become easier process as you just have to invite your guests and choose a right place from so many existing lounges and pubs . One of the best places to host such an event is Off the Record , Nungambakkam . This place is centrally located with good ambience , great food , excellent service , good DJ and pocket friendly pricing 😀. They have excellent and vast variety of salads and starters to choose from . Orange and melons with greens and grilled figs with arugula leaves salads are my favorites . Pita bread as well as classic hummus are the best . When its in buffet size of pita bread is small and hummus you can take as much as you want . But if you take as A LA carte the portion is very big , the same rich , creamy hummus starts tasting little boring . So it's better if hummus can be divided in two or three flavors as other restaurants do . Their spankopita - a kind of puff pastry stuffed with spinach , corn and cheese is a must have . The chef makes the best pita in town so all the dishes with pita bread are excellent . Pita stuffed with keema galouti kabab is also worth mentioning . In a buffet you can try almost all the dishes - veg , non- veg , salads , soups , starters, main course at same time . But disadvantage is half of the things get cold so may not taste the way actually they are . There are so many things to mention for like paneer tikka , Malai broccoli , chicken tikka , sushi etc. But I have selected and mentioned the ones which I could not forget at all and would like to have it again and again . Main course is again an elaborate affair with so many combos . Thai curry with steamed rice , Kadai paneer and malvani chicken with Malabar parotta ,pastas and pizzas are excellent . Pasta tastes good only when its hot and fresh and cooked in smaller portions . Because if pasta is kept for long , it becomes dry and bland and tasteless as the maida (refined flour ) absorbs all the moisture. When I had pasta it was too late , so 😀 . Dessert section was also excellent , tempting and inviting that with my first mocktail itself , before having any starter or salad I picked up one ( only one ) swiss roll 😀. White color , soft , spongy , creamy cake with mauve color garnish is to die for ......yummmmy . After my main course again I had only swiss roll . There was whole counter of my favorite desserts like tiramisu , chocolate fudge , peanut bar etc. etc . but after having the divine swiss rolls , I was so satisfied that I didn't try anything else . For making an event successful - ambience , food , service , music are must and Off the Record has it all . So don't wait to plan your party and go ahead with this decent , happening and rocking place 😀 .

A bunch of my friends planned to meet here for lunch. It was a sudden plan and we found the place too crowded , even then the manager managed to get a us a nice compact table. With foot tapping live music playing around , we ordered some dishes from ala Carte menu and everything tasted it’s best !! It’s a really nice place to chill but the prices of the dishes can be made a little lighter to our pockets.

Visited this place for the first time and the experience was really good. Ambience, good music, courteous staff, seating arrangements etc were the few things I liked about. Most importantly wanted to mention about this staff Mr.Vignesh who took care of us yesterday, he impressed me with his smile, patience and attitude towards serving us. Very well done Vignesh the loved the way you cared for us! 🙂 Keep it going and good luck to you Vignesh. A place to visit again for sure but it would be perfect if this place brings in more food options.

Always been wanting to go to this place, I finally got around to it on my birthday. I was not disappointed. The kiwi and orange based mocktails are really tasty and perfectly balanced, combined with starters. Some juicy Buffalo wings, quesidilas oozing cheese , chicken cilantro perfectly seasoned and some chewy beef to complete the range.

Food - 5/5
Drinks - 4.5/5
Ambience- 5/5
Service- 5/5

Must visit! The ambience and the service is the best which justifies the slightly pricey cost.

Will definitely be back!

Had a worst experience here last week, We ordered for Prawns..which caused us all (Gang of 8ppl) severe vomit and Food poison. we were all down with health issues for the next 4 days.

One of the most happening place in Nungambakkam. Has a quieter a range of continental as well as Indian foods. Quick service. Good loud music. Definitely a place for groups.

In zomato the cost of beer was around 200 but when u visit the restaurant the cost price is different, its high like 100 bucks plus than the rate mentioned in zomato. I don’t know whether they forgot to update it here it this is some kind tricks to get customers
Keerthana Kc
Actually in zomato the highly rated restaurant will be gossip bistro but last week I went to gossip bistro actually I was not quite happy with it but trust me OTR is best
Everything is good right from the food ,ambience ,and servicing people .
I personally enjoy being there .
Let me tell u what I had for dinner
I myself had 3 mock tails
Firstly I had melon and apricot mock tail
I just loved it . It’s purely a bliss to me.
Then I had that blue colour I missed the name ....sorry.
And the final one is peach and pineapple
You could able to feel the difference between each and every mocktails.
Then we had chicken pizza
Where it’s very thin and lip smacking every bite of it. Then we had so many staters like 2 style of fish prawn chicken
You can have any sort of starter because everything will be worth trying.
Finally I had one yumm dessert it’s crumbed layer white chocolate pudding
To me theobrama and malva pudding is ever fav and now this added to my bucket list 😻
We thank OTR and I have to specially thank Mr.syed for giving us best experience and suggestions.

The ambience is good, drinks are good. Bartenders are very friendly. The music and the rude dj was disappointing. I'll think twice before I come here the next time.

This is one of my favourite pubs in Chennai. I love everything about OTR. Their food is fabulous and woah their cocktails are too perfect. Worth every cent you spend. Love the classy ambience and their live music. Special shootout to the singers. BEST PUB.

A good place in the city for some drinks and food. Upmarket ambience.

Music is pretty loud and if you plan to talk to the person you go with, then this is not the place.

We had vegiterian food. Taste, portion and presentation is strictly average for the fairly steep pricing. Yes, pricing is at par with 5 star hotels.

I suppose we got unlucky with service as getting just the French fries took 30 minutes. Rest of food served equally late.

The crowd is decent and you will feel comfortable.
Madhuri
We went to this place to celebrate friend's birthday.

Have ordered pepper chicken, chicken wings, pizza, pasta along with cocktails & mocktails.

Everything is tasted soo good. Ordered brownie for dessert also tasted yum.

Good food. Lovely ambience. Loud music.
Service is good. Friendly staff.
Overall a nice experience.

Good place to hangout with friends.

I must say that recent times I have been visiting nice places like off the record . This is a great place to have fun with friends . Ambience is great but little loud . They have wide varieties of menu and the food tastes good . It’s a great place for weekend evening .

This is such a 6* worth bar. It has amazing cocktails. And food is top notch. 😋 Each item priced so easy on pocket that will mesmerize you. The service team deserves huge noice and respect They are so professional. Music is retro 😍 what else could I say more than that. I wish I live around this place so that I can visit aften. I am so glad and happy visiting such a happy vibe place. Must visit.
(*** Don't miss trying rabith cocktails).
.
Karishma Bathija
Nice Place, Good Food and awesome ambience.
Staffs are very friendly. DJ is damn good. Keeps the floor lively with his mixes.

Drinks can be served a bit quicker, other than that everything is good.
Deepika Mallyk
Food and ambience are good. Nice time to go and watch IPL. Specially fish items are great. One of the quirky pubs in Chennai. It's maintained well and had excellent service.
Pavan Kripalani
Great ambience, courtous staff, amazing food, competitive prices, a huge buffet spread, all this in the heart of the city what more can you ask for

Had been to this place for the 2nd time (in a little more than a month's gap) with a couple friends (both male & female) at about 9.45 pm a couple of days ago. The very 1st time we went to OTR was at level 1 (around Feb 14) & 2nd time was at level 2 (on Fri, 22/3, evening )

Wonder wat makes the mgmt & staff of OTR feel so proud abt NOTHING ???, whn ur staff lacks basic customer service etiquettes even in alloting a place to sit (to guests) once we were in despite there being multiple vacant areas to sit. And the reason given to us by the staff for not being able to allocate a place of our choice to sit was that, other tables were already reserved by other gusts (who were expected to arrive shortly), but when in fact NONE came till we left (at the time of closing).

It was all the more shocking to know that even your washrooms (ladies restrooms) lack basic upkeep on the hygiene front. Shocking part is MALE HOUSEKEEPING STAFF are appointed even 4 cleaning, (rather NOT cleaning) FEMALE RESTROOM. And, it was all the more outrageous for the person to whom we complained about the state of unclean LADIES restroom in comparison to other party spots in Chennai hotels to say that "Pubs in business class hotels can afford to have female house keeping staff, which we can't". And in a vain attempt to pacify us we were given a bill discount of abt INR 550/-.

When you are into hospitality business, you need to learn the basic nuances of hospitality in the first place, rather than learning the ropes @ the customer's inconvenience & expense after starting the business. Do your'l think that customers don't have an option whn it comes to Chennai nightlife ????

Food served & time taken to serve was fine, but nothing boast worthy in comparison to other places.

Can only expect OTR to become NMR (Never Made a Record) soon.

Sad experience to say in the least.

Me being frm Mumbai & visiting Chennai often on work, I can without doubt say OTR is a SORE frm every angle of customer service among the few other party spots I have visited in Chennai city. DO NOT INTEND IN THE LEAST TO VISIT THIS PLACE AGAIN & NOR WUD RECOMMEND ANY1 TO.
Kédar Rajeev
Great Food
Great Ambience
Nice choice of Music
Great Staff
Nachos was Yumm
Head Of Hospitality Ms Grishma is truly an asset to OTR

CHEERS :)

Nice place in the heart of the city.
Courteous staff.

Good Menu and reasonable food selection. Would live more vegetarian options.

I would recommend this to my friends.
Nikhilesh Fomra
A chilled out place, a little expensive but can overall the food and party nights are good. Worth socialising with people here, and networking. Well kind of made it a business place but who does not.
Dipika Priyadharshini
Not too loud music. Good food. Will recommend. Went there on saturday night. The crowd was decent. Ambience was too good. Overall worth the time spent.

So here I am for the feedback..... I gave 1star only for this place because of the people because of the management, staff are so rude yesterday me n my freinds came in this place for chilling out but it turn out our worse experience ever even though we are regular but still they treated us so bad...
1st thing being a regular we never knw that they do not allow to dance on the floor
2nd thing when we dance they informed us that its not allow so we said ok after that we went back to our table.
3rd thing after that they just gave us the bill saying that we have to pay right now n leave the place, how pathetic but not only this when we request them for staying a bit longer coz one of our friend was drunk just to make him cool for a mean while but still they refuse us to stay infact they said they will ban us from coming back in their place again....... This is how they treated a guest maybe they were thinking that we have no money, but at the end we pay n leave the place...... But we will make sure we will never return in that place again.... N I'll make sure I'll spread our bad experience which we had face....
Jabir Panoli
Such a wrost place...... They have no respect for other...and especially there guest...... Yesterday we went with my friends to celebrate my friend birthday party....
Mary
This place being very rude with me and my friends.. Actually yesterday we went there for my friends birthday party the management of that place is so poor... And the attitide of maneger was so pissoff.. And you can't delete your review just like that.. Like how you did for my friend.. Then whats tge use of being in social media...
Pinky Thapa
There is no zero star...I suppose to give zero ... service is good....but manager are poor...we are very dissatisfied...with manager what he told us...we got pissed offf...we got angry...the manager have no politeness....thank you my birthday was ruined ...by manager making Waiter s asking bill to pay by us again n again ...never will come back...again n never recommend to other...to go there.. if we moved our body by dancing there. ...n making guest awkward ..sorry for it...than it's should not be restro bar ...it's should be yoga place...I guessed...it's our bad to booked place there...
Radhika Raghu
My girls and I went here to celebrate someone's birthday and we all loved it!

Ambience - They have two floors, one is indoors and the other is rooftop(i think). Overall I loved the look of it and the music was decent too.

Staff - staff were super courteous and even offered us some drinks on the house. ;)

Food - we ordered pasta and also got a birthday brownie for free. The pasta was yumm.

Drinks - we had 2 rounds of shots, one was on the house. Both tasted great. We also had a pitcher of LIIT and it was really good. All the drinks were pretty potent and had us all buzzed.

Cost - This place is decently priced and not too heavy on the pocket.
Nikhil Chordia
Off-late been the happening hangout spot for a lot of chennaities. Nice interiors and amazing music with a DJ churning out different genres. Its a good place to have couple of drinks in the evening be it after work hangout place or a casual friends meet up plan. Usually packed on certain nights. Has a widespread menu options.
Suresh Cumar
It's a great place for sure. May be the best in Chennai right now in terms of ambience, music, food, service, staff attitude and the quality of drinks. Had a good time.
Salonee Jain
One of the best restopub I’ve visited in Chennai! Loved the lotus stem starter. I’d never heard of it before and I totally recommend it anyone who visits Off the record. Never knew lotus stem could taste so delicious. The place is always crowded - so please prebook tables before you get there. I visited on a Saturday night and totally enjoyed the music and crowd! Must visit when in Chennai! 😊
GJ
Don't go by the exteriors.. This place will surely impress you once you are inside.
To add to a lovely ambience, they have a great bar, very good music and equally good food.
What's not to like.
4 of us went and ordered for:
Penne Pesto: very good in taste and the portion is huge so can easily be shared between 4 people.
Broccoli and Mushroom skewers: The broccoli was yummy, mushrooms maybe not but overall a good dish.
Paneer Tikka type dish (in red sauce) was delicious again. They also served a paneer tikka which wasn't that good but the dish had quite a punch.
Loved the food.

Music was super. DJ followed one school of music and had everyone on their toes.
Drinks only made the evening better as cocktails are decent.
Mind you, in Gin they only have Monkey 47 which I am not complaining about but then one needs to have all gins (not just in Cocktails).

Overall damage to pocket for all of above + 8-10 drinks was 7200 which was ok.
Will come back again next time I am in Chennai.
Jameel Akhter
Wow what a place. Amazing hospitality, very spacious, good music. They have varieties of mocktails, elabote starters. The quality of food is very good. The pizzas, pasta and the Thai curry are one of the best in this city. Would definitely recommend to one and all.
Jerina Jahaffar
Even on the record, Off the Record is a good place to hang out for some good music, drinks, food and vibes :). I have visited this place twice and I found the place spacious and tasteful with very good service - the waiters were attentive, knowledgeable, helpful and very polite, sometimes friendly too! Right from the valets, ushers and bouncers to the guys who take our orders - the whole service is commendable.

Now let me come to the food. The reason why I love visiting pubs. I am a teetotaller but I like pub grub. So the food will find special mention in my reviews. We were presented a weekend special menu this time. It is a one page, simple, typed out menu with the executive chef and manager's name printed on top. The starters had veg and non-veg options. We loved the veg oriental bhel and hoisin veg. It was spicy, tangy and made for great sharing-food. We were six of us and all of us had good helpings of the fare. The chicken 179 though was promised to be spicy, was not very spicy but it was tasty all the same. The margherita pizza was why I had wanted to go there again and I was not disappointed. It was perfect. The three pepper chicken was super spicy and absolutely tasty. I give full marks for their food. I had Lucky Sunset mocktail and I loved it. The Easy Pop mocktail which is a kiwi based drink was tasty but a bit sweet.

Last but definitely not the least is the music. I loved the music played here. It is an eclectic mix of old and new with very groovy beats. A big thumbs up to the DJs.
Manisha
Love this place. Be it the ambience, music, drinks or food, everything is amazing and you'll love to go back for sure.
This has become my favorite hangout spot in recent times.
Do taste their wings, nasi goreng and creme brulee. Absolutely yumm!
Their drinks are bomb as well.
And they have such a large smoking zone. Perfect for sitting and chilling.
Definitely definitely going back a million times!

Bon appetite :)
Tushar Goyal
Great place and great ambience with good music , a little loud but manageable .
Sadly enough the roof top was shut because we went on a week day but otherwise place was good .

They have a great selection of drink on the go and even have sake ( japanese drink) which are rarely available at most places in India.

We ordered the formage pizza which was good to taste ,
The veg burger was ok and nothing great.
The risotto was good and well made and a must try.

Arthi Sham
Suppose to the best and classy. Keep rocking guys. Starters and main course are excellent to the core. Concept is good. Super keep the good work guys

One of the best watering holes in the city in recent times! Great place to hangout with friends. the music is amazing. We were seated on the terrace. The staff were very friendly and prompt on their service though the place was packed for a Saturday night.
The pizza was yummy and drinks we ordered were pretty good too! Their LIIT was well made. Definitely a must visit place!

This is one of the trending pubs in Chennai at the moment and had wanted to try it out for quite some time. Got the chance to visit it a few days back for lunch. They have lunch combos that are attractively priced and you get a starter, main course, Dessert and a Beer or a soft drink which I think is quite a steal.

The starters we ordered was Veg Quesadilla, Crispy Fried Lotus Stem - both were quite good and the quantity, enough. The main course - Veg Pasta, Thai Red and Green Curry with rice. I was really impressed with the pasta which was cooked perfectly al dente and the seasoning was on the mark. Both the Thai curries were a let down. I felt that the sauce was a bit diluted and did not have the seasonings that are associated with Thai cuisine like Galangal, lemon grass etc.

We had a choice from 3 desserts - Creme Brulee, Brownie and the Blue Berry Cheese Cake. We went with the Creme Brulee and the Blue Berry Cheese Cake which were OK.

For the combo I felt that it was a very good deal with regard to pricing. Other than this I tried their best selling cocktails - THE MOVIE GOER which is a Vodka based cocktail which is attractively presented in a Popcorn tub complete with freshly popped corn on the top. It packed quite a punch and delivered on taste and looks too.
Mary
My go to fav restobar after plan B in Chennai! The drinks and food are great with good quantity. The ambience is just wow, different and classy. They also have a rooftop where the party happens but they don't really have a dance floor. Cons would be that it's a little small and the prices for cocktails could have been much cheaper. Their liquor collection also is quite vast. The food I've tasted in many of the times I've visited this place are...

1. Beef fry - couldn't remember the exact name ..but this is the best I've tasted so far too soft just melts in your mouth. 👌

2. Veg/ Chicken stroganoff - Creamy and they serve it in huge portions. Taste - Decent.

3. Popcorn drink - Out of the box thinking by OTR but nothing exceptional

4. Curd rice (veg/non veg) - I bet most of you reading this are like why would I pay to eat curd rice but trust me guys it was so good and creamy and the non veg curd rice was absolute delight with drinks. ♥️

5. Lotus stem - My most fav starter and here it's spicy plus a bit tangy and it's amaze :')

6. Pepperoni pizza - SO SO GOOD. Must order. But they only serve it on the weekends.

7. Nachos - okayish.
good ambience and Friendly staff...interesting cocktail and tasty food especially thai curry and chicken streaks. Thanks for the membership card😍

Discriminatory practices for entry are against the law. They allow girls without any question and ask for referral for newbies. The food and service is worse than a road side eatery.
AnuLovesFood
Visited OTR recently.
Though the place offers a good ambience and the service is quick, this place is on the pricier side. Also, the taste of the food was not worth what you pay. Even the drinks were not that good.
Ajesh Ashok
This place has become my favorite in recent times. Off The Record has this amazing young vibe that you’ll feel the minute you step in. Unlike places like Slate or Radio Room, the people here are quite friendly. We went to this place yesterday, which happened to be a thursday, but still it was crowded. So you know how happening it’s gonna be on Saturday nights. Music is very good, the food is so so good, starting from chicken starters to calamari to pizza, so yum! No wonder you don’t get a table here unless you reserve beforehand. I’m sure I’ll go back to this place multiple times in the future! 🤩👍🏼

Simple feedback. Don't discriminate people when you give out membership cards. Me and my friend were denied membership to this place with the reason of having to be referred by someone. Another group walks in (just girls), no questions asked - they hand over a new membership card and give them access to this place.

Been here for the first time and amazed with the ambience. Service is excellent by harish. Food is good as well. Must try their crispy lamb by Chef Aarif

Off the record - The so called "happening place" in Chennai wasn't that happening for us on 1st Dec night. With overpriced alcoholic drinks and very disrespectful staff! Especially Mr.Syed....with 6 months of working at off the record, he thinks he's at the top of the world. The music was good but wasn't loud enough! I ordered a lotus stem and I must say.. It was shit. So now let's talk a bit about the architecture. I must say the bar counter was pretty damn neat and I loved how the seatings were arranged. The interiors was designed by Siddharth Ninan and it was pretty good. The posters were very thoughtful. The first floor is the space where the dj lives and the second floor is more like an open space of seatings enclosed using louvered pergola's. *Caution* Only couple entry allowed cuz they want to maintain some standard it seems! And don't forget to reserve your table Cuz...they act as if they are always full. So overall this place will run until a better place opens up soon.

Good place , good ambience and good crowd . They have pretty good option of drinks and food. Waiters are friendly and the service time is ok . Should go to second floor (roof top as well). We were told to go abruptly as they have some light issue. So taking away one start for that otherwise had a great time !!!

Been here a couple of times... good choice of starters. Must try the lotus stem and the chicken satay. Good music. Though can speed up service a bit as we have to keep looking for the waiters to show up.

Off the record or OTR as its called is now one of the places to check out in the city. I'd known about the place from the time it was open and was waiting for the right company to go with since you do need female company to gain entry usually.

Ambiance:

Very nice ambiance with the right kind of lighting that's not too bright or in-your-face. Comfortable seating which makes a difference. As the night progresses the music levels get quite high so its a good place to shake a leg. Not sure how much that is encouraged though. They have retro nights on wednesdays and a new concept called 90at9 on Thursday where they bring in artistes either in music or some entertainment to perform for 90 minutes from 9 pm. So far, looks like they've brought on a mentalist, flautist and some music bands.

Food and beverages, Service:

Seeing the upmarket ambiance n crowd, you'll find the prices to be quite reasonable. One of the main draws of this place is the great lineup of whiskey on their bar shelves. Talk to the number of bartenders about the liquor if you'd like to explore something different. I'd recommend an excellent new gin entrant called Monkey 47 which has apparently been selling here very well and the gin was even launched in Chennai in this pub! Try it even if you're not into the usual gins. Regarding service that seems to be kinda slow we had to wait quite a bit for some of the orders. Thats one thing they could improve upon I think.

Regarding food, we tried the Charcuterie pizza (500/-) which was very nice. Charcuterie means prepared meat products like ham, bacon etc mainly from pork according to a search. And this one was just right with the flavor of ham n bacon throughout the thin crust pizza. Wanted to try out the interestingly named "Kundaporean lamb" (400/-) which came after a while of waiting. Basically it was 3 lamb chops seemingly coated in dry roasted spices but also slathered in a slightly cheesy peppery coating. The meat was tender and probably slow cooked initially. Yummy dish for sure. Would go nicely with a good whiskey. The Hoisini chicken (350/-) came in a small bed of saucy fried noodles adding crunch and that's how I like to have Asian fried chicken anyway so it was good stuff. Spicy and a little tangy delicious, a different dish from the usual Chilli chicken but still felt at home trying this. During one of the visits, the manager wanted us to try a lovely little dish at the end of the night, it was curd rice served in 3 little bowls topped with Chettinad chicken and bite sized potato pieces spiced up with masala! This was something unexpected and all of us loved the comforting touch of the curd rice in the belly which apparently plenty of customers opt for too. Makes sense after liquor and spicy food.
From the lineup tried the Glemorray which I paid (350/- AI), Sir edwards Scotch (275/-) and Teachers highland cream (paid 275/-) ! Recently tried the Monkey 47 gin priced at 700/-

Cocktails:

They have some interesting cocktail options too, presented differently. We were recommended to try the following two cocktails which was on-the-house. Firstly an amusing Moviegoer which is a Coffee spiked cocktail hidden in a popcorn tub! Did not guess it was a cocktail initially until I saw the steel straw! The pleasing combo of liquers like kahlua, coffee and more was preferable to even our beloved Satyam's cold coffee. The popcorn was no joke too!

If you found this review useful and like to read similar detailed posts about interesting joints and experiences from across Chennai, check out Madras Eats page on Facebook and Instagram. Awesome ambience. I was on the rooftop and it was nice and subtle. First floor bar was extravagant 👍🏼
Food - 👌🏼 but very limited size.
I had stella beer. Price seemed affordable. On the whole a must visit place to hangout.

I guess from the time this place has opened doors to Chennai public, we have been religiously enjoying ourselves every Saturday night. Amazing food and one of the best staff in town. This place has endless options in alcohol, it is the most stocked bar of Chennai (if Im not wrong).
The praises don't end here, they have some crazy food options as well.
Hoisin chicken, fish Tikka, chilly chicken, veg quesadilla, pesto paneer are their top preparations. I can't remember the names of the other dishes, as I might have tried every dish on the menu considering my regular visits and each have been very good.
They also serve fancy cocktails, popcorn tub cocktail being the fanciest. Only try this drink if u enjoy coffee liquor.

We went to this place for bloggers meet . It is very easy to locate . Iam really impressed with ambience. Very comfortable, eye catching interiors, friendly staffs. Never miss to taste lotus stem crispy fry as it is really filling. Then Paneer with capsicum also equally good. They have variety of mock tails and very refreshing one. Then had rice with veg kurma and veg pizza . The aroma of basmati rice was incredible. Love the creamy texture of kurma too. They have wide collection of drinks . So weekend party goers can party hard here.

Very good place to hang out with friends . Parking space also good. I recommend this place to all .

Why did I give a perfect 5 star rating?

Firstly, it’s on Nungambakkam & offers 2-wheeler parking. You read it right.

Secondly, you get to enjoy the perfect ambiance away from the crowded high street. They have in-house DJ & also the bar. It can be classified as Resto-Bar. The lights above the table were unique since each & every light is covered by a real book. The walls are adorned with some cool pics.

Staffs were polite & friendly. Seats are neat, big & gives you enough leg space.

Coming to food:

We had few starters (Veg & Non-Veg) including Paneer slices. This was followed by mock tails (they have 3 varieties of them). This was followed by Veg Rice bowl. This was the ultimate. Basmati rice is soaked in kuruma which had boiled vegetables like carrot/spinach/capsicum. The aroma & spices used in this was mesmerising. I can keep on eating this :)

We then had vegetarian pizza. I wouldn’t rate this on par with pizzas available on normal pizza outlets but this isn’t bad.

Had a great experience, overall.

A roof top restaurant with pretty lights . It had nice seating and the set up is good. The staff were friendly and the food was served quickly. We ordered the fish and few other drinks and chicken. Food was average tasting. Also for dessert, we had the chocolate brownie with ice cream which was presented so well. But may be because we had too much to eat, didn’t enjoy it much. But it’s definitely a nice place to chill.

Nice ambience, great music but that's about it. We went on a Saturday night, service was absolutely terrible - we had to wait for twenty minutes at our table to get a menu (which we got after asking for it five times). Service was incredibly slow, food was average. Took 30 minutes to get a pitcher of beer. Waiter poured more if it onto the table than into the glass. They really need to ramp up their staff and service quality. Very disappointing, had high expectations based on other reviews.
