Review Cupcake Company - Chennai (Madras)

Shriya Srivatsan
I still remember the first time I had their "Death by Chocolate". I was wearing a white dress and I could faintly hear my friend scream at me as it got tainted with ice cream. I continued to eat the cupcake. That's how much I love it. If you love chocolate, for the love of your tongue buy it and have it. I wouldn't recommend any other flavour but my friend reallly liked the apple pie!

They stand up to their name. You can find different varieties of Cup Cake and they are definitely tastes great. Kids will love this place. Its not easily locatable, but one can take the help of Google Maps. You also have space for Dine in and hangout with your friends. They also have delicious cookies. But the cost is on the higher side.

This place is amazing 😍 The service was really good and they guide you from picking up the flavours and if you want special orders to be done. My favourite were the six pieces i picked up ( plain jane, lady in red, zesty lemon, pineapple express, tiramisu and caramelita ) ❤️😍 The frosting on each one of them were lip smacking 😋 I only visited the cupcake company yet to visit the chat side. Its a relaxing place to spend time with your friends and family for a bite ! 😇

The best thing about this place is it hasn't changed in last 10 years, last time I visited in 2012 and recently in Jan 2023. The place got slightly renovated but over all ambience is the same. Love this place for it's innovative treats.

My first ever cupcake experience and it's from the cup cake company. It was awesome. I ordered choco cup cakes and two mini cheesecakes (choco and caramel). It was so yummy and tastes so fresh. Glad I had my first cupcake experience here. No dine-in available. Only take away.

Ordered one day before few cup cakes and cheese cake. Received them in the next day afternoon. They were very fresh and taste was awesome. As part of Business travel i tasted cheese cake in abroad but first time tasting them in Chennai and the taste was beyond what i tasted at abroad. Cup cakes also tasted yummy. Even after two days the taste was fresh.

Had ordered Celebration Cupcakes for my brother's birthday. Mr. Pranav was always available though messages and was kind enough to help me in deciding the flavours and arranged a hassle free delivery to my home! The cupcakes as usual tasted amazing ! Thank you so much for this wonderful service!

We purchased a couple of dozen cupcakes for a birthday party after being given a recommendation from a friend. We tried 5 different variety of cupcakes and each one was absolutely delicious, moist and most importantly not too rich or sweet. My favourite was the salted caramel and the most popular one at the party was the red velvet. The staff were really friendly and were willing to customise various aspects of the cupcake design for the birthday. We will be back soon!

OMG cupcakes over here is just awesome...!

Iv been having rainbow cake for 2 years now regularly.. but compared to before, now the cake has become sub quality I feel.. the icing tastes different a bit and the cake is dry.. it used to be so juicy and moist before.. mass production has reduced the taste. Freshness is gone too. Also the coloured sugar coating on the icing has been replaced by coloured sprinkles. Meh. Miss the old rainbow cake. If ccc owner is reading this pls do something..started looking for better rainbow cake options these days

Small little place that might be hard to find but it’s worth it. They’ve got several different flavors to choose from to satisfy everyone. The ambience, the cupcakes and the packaging is super aesthetic. The cupcakes live up to the look taste wise also. I reccomend Everything Chocolate, Caramelita, Chip n Dale, and Death by Chocolate.

The best cupcakes in chennai! They were so soft and flavorful. The staff was very Friendly and helpful . Can’t wait to try the other flavors
LalithaPooja
I had tasted their red velvet cupcake and it was just horrible. The cream was tasting very bad and the appearance of the cupcake was also very icky.. with all of this, the price paid was also way too high..
Thefoodlady
Hands down the best cupcakes in chennai. When I say the best, I mean it. I've tried pretty much every place you can possibly imagine. Even the really hyped famous ones. None of them make the cut. Cupcake company's cupcakes are moist, fresh and always tasty. I've tried a variety of their range and was never disappointed. My fav is the vanilla with white chocolate ganache. Their eggless cupcakes are also pretty darn good. I'm reducing one star for the price point, it is pretty expensive but nonetheless worth the money.!

Delicious from each side !!

Hard to decide , lot of flavor to taste,,so yummy n moist in every bite..very rich n lovely ambience..looking forward to try all flavors. The best cupcakes I ever had...😋😋

Having a sweet tooth, you automatically become someone who would experiment different dessert. Oh believe me, it’s a great job!

Cupcakes here are surely a treat for the eyes. They are beautifully frosted and frostings hold their shape even on take away. Lots of flavours to choose from. It’s quite hard to decide. They also have eggless varieties.

But taste wise I wasn’t too wowed. The cupcake byitsef is surely moist but quite bland. It’s couternpart frosting is too sweet. The texture of the buttercream frosting is good though.

I tried the lemon curd, orange blossom, red velvet and chocolate mint.
Red velvet cream cheese frosting was ok.
Flavour wise only the lemon curd was flavourfull. The others were just cupcakes with Buttercream frostings. So for this the price is definitely on the higher side.

I did not get a chance try their pies . Maybe that’s good. Surely next time.
Roopika Subramanian
Very average for the pricing. DBC and lady in red were hailed to be the best buy both of them turned out to be disappointing. The chat menu was okay but very expensive as well for the quantity provided. The ambience was good. Over all a over hyped place.
Nikhita
I bought 3 slices of cake from this place. The first was the rainbow cake which was quite ordinary. The frosting was quite sweet compared to the cake. The chocolate chip pie was outstanding and so was the cheesecake. The cheesecake had a slight banana flavor to it. I felt like it was on the pricy side for the quantity and size but it was definitely satisfactory.

Ever Fantasied of Cup Cakes in Different Flavors, Then this is definitely the one stop. Wonderful Ambiance, Lovely Flavors. Cup Cake Celebrations and Chai Flavors Make a Homely feel.

This is one of my favourite cupcake places in Chennai, but very recently they have collaborated with another place that serves tea and snacks. So, cupcake company is now a part of this other outlet. It's nice in a way because now there's a lot more on the menu and people who wanna eat something savory can go here too!
We ordered a caramel cup cake, and a tiramisu flavoured cupcake. I absolutely loved how creamy and moist the cupcakes were. They also deliver, and you can parcel stuff from here.
Always a delight coming to this place, although the cupcakes are priced a little higher than usual.

I ordered a set of 12 cupcakes and it came in 2 different boxes (6 each). One box was good and the other one was in a very bad shape. I never expected this actually. No one took responsibility for this as well. When I called the shop itself they seemed to never really care about it and blamed it on the delivery guy and when I called the delivery guy he told he brought it properly. Finally, I'm the loser here as no one cared to take up responsibility for this. This costed me over 1500 RS and I couldn't stop myself from giving such a review. I don't know if they'll give a new box now but just wanted to make this clear so that the others who plan to order here will know about this. I've added the photo as well! On the whole, worst experience!

It's the first time ever I have enjoyed cupcakes.. Real cupcakes and not muffins with butter cream.
Very rich, light, fluffy... Loved them
...Keep going lady...
One of the amazing outlet of serving customised cup cakes for all occasions in chennai.
A small cozy place with ample car parking.
Service and staff - customer friendly and completely satisfied with their icing.
Totally worth for the price.
Best ones are red velvet cup cake and death by chocolate.
Would certainly recommend this place to everyone 👍🏼
After watching 2 broke girls, I wanted to try cupcakes so I went to the cupcake company in alwarpet. The ambience is really nice and I ordered all choclate cup cake...it has KitKat and choclate frosting with nuts...it tasted amazing..also the red velvet cup cake is tooo cute and tasty.

This place is a very small cafe alongside another small cafe which offers an entirely different array of food. Thus I would say clever allocation of the place. Logistics aside; once you have tasted any dessert from here you'll surely feel you have entered heaven. That's the only word I can use. Since we had already stuffed ourselves from before we couldn't have a lot. We took the Dessert in a Jar and Death By Chocolate both of which were amazing and must tries from this place. The chocolate ganache is to die for on the the cupcake. The first dish contains red velvet cake at its utmost gorgeousness. In all, its a great dessert parlour and should be on a must visit list for everyone residing in Chennai

A little pricy but they taste heavenly. ❤
Their chai and other snacks are good too.
Chennai needed some place for cupcakes and so glad we have this.
The fudge was amazing! The death by chocolate shake really did not live up to its name

An outlet specialising in cup cakes, desserts.. now, chat items are available too.
Great ambiance with ample parking. A bungalow with garden has the outlet in a corner..
Quick and prompt service. Cup cakes are yummy. Saboodana vadai, panipuri, cutlet and samosa Chana, flavoured sodas.. much more to try. Good place for leisure dining with family and friends.

Out of 6 cakes, 4 cakes were up side down in the cake box and creams of it were sticking to the box.
Waste of money on those cakes. Bad delivery or bad packing.
Lavanya Rao
The food here is amazing but we ordered online through Zomato and we received the cupcake after 2 hours of wait and the frosting had melted and the cupcake was broken. I blame zomato's delivery executive. Such a terrible service. Will never order online through Zomato.

Nothing can fix a bad day like a little cupcake can! They’ve always sort of managed to keep the quality up. Really like a few cupcakes here, although they could have a couple of more options and service could’ve been better.
Cute little space which is an extension of a house in Alwarpet.

Food : 3.7/5
Ambience : 3.5/5
Service : 3.2/5
Price : Rs.600 for 2
Variety : 3.5/5
Overall : 3.4/5

Must try: Death by Chocolate

The place where my Love for cupcakes started in Chennai. Especially their DBC and lady in red is my all time favorite. Their customized cupcakes and cakes are even unique and rich. The place is my all time love.

Best cupcakes ever !!!!
This is such a cute place, in Alwarpet !
Adored by pink 💕
And the cupcakes here are to die for ! Plain Jane has always been my favourite. The cupcake is so delicious, that you’ll come back wanting more.
Though it’s on the pricey side, it’s worth every penny.
My happy place 💕💯
Will visit soon 😇

Set up in the extension of an independent house, this place is one of the most popular in what they do.

This one's definitely stood the test of time.

Their cupcakes are pretty damn good. The fluffiness, and most importantly the moisture in their cupcakes is what makes them stand out. The icing is not bad either, but there's definitely scope for improvement.

So they seem to have gotten most of the necessary factors right.

Lady in red (Red Velvet) is my pick of the lot. I like red velvet cakes in general, but this one for sure does stand out.
The death by chocolate, with the Nutella filling on the inside, couldn't possibly go wrong.
Although, I wouldn't say they have got the Tiramisu flavor spot on. There's definitely something lacking. But again, love the moisture in the cake.

Recently tried the Nutella filled chocolate cookie. Tasted pretty average and was priced at RS 135, which I found ridiculously expensive for the quality and size.

There aren't too many complaints about the taste factor here nor their service (though it doesn't play a major factor, I found their staff to be extremely friendly and responsive), but I definitely find this place to be priced on the higher side which makes you question the value for money factor.
However, they have got the pricing for their counterpart, Chai Nasta, pretty much on point!

I had their brownie and cheese cake. I loved their brownie.. it was gooey and tasty.. cheese cake was good too.. ambience had the element of fun and quirk.. with creative posters around.. good place to hangout with friends some desserts

Well located place.
Love the setting and the ambiance.
The cupcakes are outrageously priced.
Lady in red 130 ruppes each for a mini cupcake size.
As it is cupcakes are essentially miniature cakes.
Had bought a dozen and it worked up more expensive than buying a 1kg solid red velvet iced cake.
Taste wise was decent, below average icing.

Food 5/10
Ambiance 7/10
Service 5/10
Pricing 4/10

Really love your cupcakes especially the red velvet ones 😍. There is a small cafe attached to it for chai and snacks. Will recommend this place to others for sure :).
Ambience - 4
Staff - 4
Food- 4

I just found this place wen I was starving for sweets n pastries .. Thr cost is pretty high.. So I actually omitted the cupcake section and moved on tu the doughnut section.. It was de only thing which is below 100 :p but tu my surprise the doughnuts tasted really good.. It was soft and yummy..I tried all the flavors.. I missed de cupcakes and the brownie cheesecake as I felt dey were a bit pricy.. Other than dat their pastries were really great :)

Ordered 4 different cupcakes from here.
Firstly, the packaging is bad. The cupcakes are stuck to the box with a double tape, which is good but it makes it really difficult for one to take the cupcake from the box and in the same process, the cupcake is broken.

The red velvet's icing was bad. It tasted really sour as if it was spoilt.

Definitely not a value for money. 120+ for one cupcake is way too pricy for the size and taste.

This place is so special for me because my now husband and then boyfriend proposed marriage to me here with a dozen cupcakes. Who can refuse a man when he promises to feed you regularly with their cupcakes......
Awesomely soft and superbly delicious desserts and they can customise the cupcakes for occasions. Staff : super friendly and take time to interact with you.

If you have a sweet tooth you can't not visit with this place. This should be at the top of your bucket list. Go go go go......

Scale of recommendation: 9/10
Value for money : 7/10

They're good with customised cupcakes, my friend got a bunch of Harry Potter custom cakes (pictured below) for her birthday (they tasted good too). Their cupcakes are good, although not great..slightly overpriced. But definitely one of the most sought after bakeries in the city!

This place is very close to our house and we go here regularly because their cup cakes are reliable and consistent.... My lil one love their cup cakes and end up visiting this place almost every weekend....

Every time we take away from this place but last weekend we decided to dine in. Ordered cup cakes for the lil one... Lady in red, pink panther and chip n dale is her favorite...

I ordered for the under baked cake and chocolate milk shake... The cake was great and delight to cake lovers... It was rich and gooiye... Loved it.. Milkshake was also great.. It was choclatey and rich... But by the time you start enjoying the shake it is already over... The quantity is little lesser compared to other places...

These guys serve eggless cakes and tastes the same... All your vegan friend's can come here and dig into the their eggless cakes... A great place you must visit especially if you have kids at home...

My rating 4.5/5.... No specific reason for not giving 5... May be would have given a 5 had they served milkshakes in a bigger glass

I wanted to try cupcakes from a different place other than Cupcake Amore and that is the only reason I narrowed down to this place. And it was a takeaway so my picks were: Death By Chocolate, Lady in Red (2 pieces), Chip n Dale and Pink Panther. The place looked beautiful with the colour ‘pink’ screaming everywhere and I just followed the maps to reach the spot.

I loved the packing and talking about the taste the chocolate cupcakes were undoubtedly their best. The ‘Death By Chocolate’ was deliciousness personified; the chocolate just captures your senses and the cake is moist as well as the cream effortlessly melts to make you fall in love with this cupcake. And then the Chip n Dale with moist and rich cake and crunchy choco chips is another delight; the chocolate flavours makes you crave for more. Their chocolate variants are the best.

Though the red velvet (Lady in Red) cupcake tasted perfect the cream frosting tasted like a sour yoghurt. The frosting was a total failure for me; not sure if it was one bad day or the cream frosting they serve tastes that way all the time. But the frosting did no way justice to the cake and will be one reason I wouldn’t prefer red velvet from this place. Also, the Pink Panther wasn’t a favourite; the cake again was good but the white chocolate frosting tasted like milk-maid and the strawberry fillings flavour was put down by the strong and overly sweet flavour of the frosting.

One cupcake is perfect for a person and considering the sweetness you can’t have more than one full cupcake. The bill was Rs.635 INR in total for the five cupcakes; chip n dale alone cost Rs.105 INR whereas the others were priced at Rs.125 INR and then you have tax. Except for the chocolate flavours, I didn’t find the pricing to be justifiable as they didn’t impress me with taste. A must try is their chocolate flavoured cupcakes. Also, the rating is only for their chocolate cupcake if I don’t consider the chocolate I would rate them 1.5 or 2.

I did not visit The Cupcake Company but I had a really pleasant experience ordering for cupcakes for my friend's birthday!

Ordered set of 5 Cupcakes from this place for my friend's birthday and their delivery was great! They just took 20 minutes to service the order.

The cupcakes were really tasty and awesome!
Shelly Agarwal
All of the cupcakes looked really good and we asked for helping us pick the best one in chocolate which they suggested was death by chocolate and it wasn't good.

Their best cupcake wasn't fresh , cream was really bad ! overall bad experience.
Aparna Chandrashekar
This is a small cozy place that serves brilliant cup cakes and PASTAS😋 I had the veg pesto pasta and banana chocolate smoothie and loved it! The only thing they need to work on is educating their staff on the menu. They had to run to the chef every time we had a question but would certainly recommend this place.

Cupcakes lovers are gonna looooovvvveeee this place, you wouldn't believe me if I told you so but on an average 40,000 pieces of pastry flow out from this place. Yeah? I know. Just take a deep breath. This place is fantastic, I love the Boston cream and strawberry crumble cupcake. All the pastries over at this place are super fresh and very light and fluffy. Do drop in if you are near Alwarpet. They also do quick online deliveries for customers far off from the city.

I like both the outlets of The Cupcake Company and been a regular. Lately have been frequenting this particular branch more.

Recently I have tried some new flavors in cupcakes.

Have been having my favourite Plain Jane very often and totally love it. I have also tried the zesty lemon cupcake and I find it almost near to perfect. The minty chocolate cupcake and Mocha cupcake also seem to be good. Costs around Rs 100 to 120. Prices are higher than some other outlets, but I like the stuff here. Also they use only organic colours and ingredients.

-

-

-

PREVIOUS REVIEW

I have been a regular visitor of their Nungambakkam outlet. Just love their cupcakes. My friend and I visited this place recently. Having painted with pink, the exterior looked cute. It Shares its space with Kitchen 187 creperie.

We had a chip n Dale cupcake, Red velvet jar, Red velvet cake shake and Pink panther cake shake. Chip n Dale is a Chocolate based cupcake, tasted really good and the cake was so soft. Red velvet tasted fine, I found the cream little too much. The cake shakes are new I guess, Served in 'not a so huge' glass, but still tasted amazing.

The Bill was around 630INR. The shakes were priced at 150INR, it could have been justified if only the glasses were a little big.

its place i always like to have my cup cake. the cakes are really awesome and mouth watering always. But the price seems to be some what on the higher side. Other than that everything is the plus for this

I ordered eggless cakes on 23rd December 2016. Cakes were not preserved well, cream was of bad smell and melted. If cakes are not available fresh why to take order.
Until November, I was regular to the restaurant and quality was good. Off late degrading!!

Small place. Nice decor. Very good variety of cupcakes and desserts. The prices a bit on the higher side but the cupcakes were delicious. The concept of making your own jar is also interesting. I'd definitely want to come again.

placed an order with cupcake company at 5:30pm today. even though order was confirmed on the app and promised delivery time was 6:30pm, there was no sign of the food till 7:30pm. got one call asking for house location at 6:15pm and then nothing till 7:30pm. No call from the restaurant stating there was a delay. zomato apologised on behalf of the restaurant and received a refund on the order.

In my previous review i wrote about the Topsee restaurant. I needed some desserts after that meal and had placed an order via zomato with the cupcake company. The order was promptly accepted and i was pleasantly surprised that the cakes were delivered smoothly to my home in besant nagar all the way from Alwarpet and the cc guy had not called for directions even once, while the topsee guy who was coming from Adyar had called over 5 times to ask for directions.

I got 3 cupcakes. They were:

1. The pink panther is a vanilla cupcake with white chocolate frosting and strawberry filling. I love white chocolate better than dark chocolate and hence decided to try this out though vanilla is not really my favorite flavour.

2. Lady in red is a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting. Red velvet is my hubs favorite flavor. The cream cheese was bit salty and i felt this overall to be very heavy. Perhaps i would have preferred the red velvet with white chocolate frosting.

3. Death by chocolate is a dark chocolate cupcake with nutella filling , chocolate ganache and choco chips topping. Anything that says nutella, and i am sold. So i did expect a lot more nutella in this cupcake , but it was more chocolaty with a hint of nutella. In general i have seen in many places that mentions chocolate and nutella , the chocolate is only overpowering and nutella is subtle. I wish this had nutella topping instead of the chocolate.

The cupcakes were well packed in paper boxes with setups inside to keep them in place, so they dont get mashed up during the delivery process. When i first opened the pack i was bit disappointed to see the cup cakes looking so tiny. It is indeed the normal size for an Indian cupcake but i did find it tiny for 125 inr. However one cupcake can fill you up easily. Me, hub and my son ate the 3 cupcakes over 2 days. So dont underestimate its teeny size. Now for the golden question. Which cupcake tasted the best to me. The winner is.................................pink panther.. it was surprising to me as i usually do not prefer the vanilla flavor over chocolate, however i think that the white chocolate with the sweet sour strawberry filling was a fantastic combo for the vanilla in my opinion.
Amroo
The cupcakes were yum no doubt moist and delicious! Service was prompt. The only thing is the value for money...it is pricey( 100rs for a cupcake)..but worth it.
Payal
This happened when post heavy dinner the brother and me were craving some yummilicious dessert . We had ordered the death by chocolate since it was the most recommended dessert. Frankly being a pricy piece of cupcake I had very high expectations of it. The cupcake was moist and top notch when it came to texture and taste. A filling in the cupcake would have just made it the perfect. However the icing was really creamy and not granular owning to sugar overdose. It was a very delicious cup cake but definitely an expensive one.

Vfm - 3/5
Taste - 4/5
Service - 4/5
(It was a delivery and the packaging was neat without any icing massacre)

Usually go here to satisfy my sweet tooth cravings. It's located right next to The Raintree hotel and has got ample parking space. They have also opened a restaurant along with it called Kitchen 187.
This is one of the best dessert places in Chennai. Most of the cupcakes cost around Rs.80-100. The cupcakes are of average size not too big or small. None of the cupcakes disappoint as they are full of flavor. They also sell a few of their cupcakes in the menu in jars as well. They have two sizes of jars. One costs Rs.200 and the other Rs.400.
It is definitely a high end place so the high pricing makes sense. As long as the prices are not going to be an issue, this is one dessert place that shouldn't be missed out on.

It's a nice place to have some chocolate and other creamy cup cakes after a nice meal.

The preparation is fresh and some cup cakes are awesomely tasteful. A good concept and a must visit place

We came here with high hope and ordered for 'The Lady in Red' and we were completely disappointed. The cream felt sour and the cupcake wasn't up to the mark either. Would not suggest this place.

Lady in red and death by chocolate, with their umpteen reviews and droolicious zomato images, made me so impatient that i just went to cupcake today :p

Sharing same land as kitchen creperie, cup cake company stands there in adorable pink! A very beautiful place, well detailed interiors! Every decorative items chosen is something to be appreciated immensely. Loved it! Not to miss the checked floors, french wall hangers, lights, vintage telephones to name a few!

We orderd peoples constants,
#lady in red: cream cheese on top can easily win hearts, soft, moist and good!

# death by chocolate: good for two bites. Gets too chocolatey then. But this dint overshadow the yummy factor.

#brownie: good one.

#pink panther shake: strawberry shake. decent.

#cappucino: usual. Cup size was smaller than the usual cappucino cups offered at many other places

Service was good!
Ambience just swept me off my feet!

Bit pricy! Can be revised slighter!

Cheers and happie eating!!!!

A nice experience. Located right next to The Raintree on St. Mary's Rd in a gated property, parking is no issue. The Cupcake Company is best described as a dessert shop, as only two people can sit in there. It's a very darling place, though. The cupcakes themselves are very rich and creamy and airy. Perfect. The red velvet is my favourite. Once I had fever so they let me have one for free haha. Whilst the cupcakes are excellent, they are very expensive. If money is no object, consider this place. Among the best of the best when it comes to cupcakes. The Crown Plaza doesn't have cupcakes as good as these.

Cup cake lovers have to compulsorily check in here. 🍰🍰🍮
Ambience 🏡is really good and attractive, it is advisable to visit this place at night to experience their Ambience and lighting here.
The value for money 💲💰can't be justified since the cup cakes are comparably smaller but the taste is good.
They have a wide range of varieties in cup cake. 🍰
Service is good.
I ordered death by chocolate and lady in red both were really good to taste.

Then I ordered maple syup chocolate sauce waffle it was full of chocolate sauce topping on the waffle and quite big one 🍫🍪.
Other than this they have marshmallows, beverages, popcorn, pizza and other stuffs. Overall it was good.
Have you ever wondered how Amortentia would smell to you if you ever got a waft of it? I found mine yesterday :D It would smell of Fresh, unopened books and the cupcake company!

Where do I start? With the cutest ever seating space they have? With that first bite into their Lady in Red which makes you understand exactly how moist, succulent, decadent and sinful a red velvet cupcake should be? Or their devilish Death by chocolate, which looks so perfect you don't want to ruin it by biting? Or how I sat their grinning like someone had cast a Cheering charm on me once I was done with it?

All I can say is, whenever you're having a bad day, call these folks up. Let their cupcakes do their thing and I dare you to be miserable after.

I ordered customized cupcakes, with a "photographer theme" and "architect theme" for my friend and my sister, as a surprise gift on their birthday. I told the order taker my requirements on how the cakes should be and they sent a few pics, from which I chose few designs. But I was hesitant to make the payment online because I was not sure if they would deliver the cakes as it was there in the picture. Finally, I made the payment with my fingers crossed.
We received the cakes on my sister's birthday. Everybody were dumbstruck on seeing those cute little cupcakes. The cakes were perfect and were delivered on time. Death by chocolate is my favorite. It was soft like a sponge with lush of chocolate frosting which lingers in the mouth for a while. Fondue was little bitter though, but the bread and frosting was delicious.
Thanks a lot cupcake company for not letting me down. My friend was also surprised when he received the cakes. Though the price is bit expensive, it is worth the money. And I am sure I ll continue to purchase desserts here often 😊😊

Yesturday was a friend's birthday and I was hoping to order brownies for him and unfortunately for him none of the places I was planning on ordering from were open, so I called up the cupcake company to see if they had any brownies, they just had two, here I was looking at ordering atleast 12. So I decided to order 12 cupcakes instead. I ordered 2 of each of the cupcakes they had.

The person on the phone promised delivery in an hours time and kept to his word, the cupcakes arrived in exactly an hours time and were lips making.

If I'm to write a detailed review on all the cupcakes, it would take forever. All the cupcakes were super delish!! My favourites were the red velvet, the caramelitas and the cookie dough.

Verdict- definitely one of the best cupcakes in chennai!

I've been a fan of their cupcakes ever since they started this establishment. They never go wrong with them and the taste is always the same! They have very pretty frosting for most but I usually end up ordering the Death by Chocolate Cupcake. Tiramisu cupcake and Cookies and cream cupcake are pretty good too but not as drool worthy as Death by Choocolate. If you're ordering Birthday cakes and cupcakes for your kids or for that matter anybody, they make the most cutest and yummiest cakes. Other than the cupcakes, I have tried their Cheesecake, which isn't too great. Head to Sandy's for your Cheesecake craving. Cupcake Company's Red Velvet Jar is fantastic. Rocky road is quite literally rocky and is extremely hard to finish. I've never been a fan of the Rainbow cake generally, so personally, I feel that you can give that a miss. For those hot summer days, I recommend their Homemade Lemonade. The place has a very beautiful retro look and by place, I mean the extended Kitchen 187 restaurant. Previously, you could just order cupcake parcels and take it home or eat in your car. But now, thanks to this fairly new restaurant which is an extension of Cupcake Company, you can sit there and enjoy your cupcakes while listening to Sinatra. I swear they always play his music! And it goes well with their whole theme. Although pricing is high, it's okay to binge on these cupcakes once in a while. Also, recommend exercising rigorously after eating said cupcakes!

I was in search for a shop that sells Rainbow cake and that's when I found out about this little piece of heaven that existed in Alwarpet. The place was simply beautiful and the interiors were designed well. The cakes were a little high on the budget but okay for a once in a while visit. We ordered a Death by chocolate cake and it was really yummy. The Cake was baked to perfection and the chocolate icing was amazing. The rainbow cake that we ordered wasn't as good as I had expected it to be. It wasn't very moist and the sugar coat part was not an awesome idea. We were also served a free plate of the different types of popcorn and my favorite was the caramel popcorn. On the whole, a good place.

To all those sweet toothed folks like me.. this place is awesome!! ❤❤ The ambience is really beautiful. It's a really good place to chill at . ☺☺

The cupcakes I've had here are- Plain Jane, Lady in red and Death by chocolate. Need I say anything? They were absolutely delicious. Although the icing for Lady in red was a little too sweet.

your cup cakes are one of the best in town ... but the popcorn u sell is WORST ! ... i even asked the guy before buying the pre packed packets which was not airlocked/airsealed ! ... all packed on 4/4/16 .... wasted buying 3 packs of popcorn yesterday (21/04/16) ... to return them i need to travel a long way so just threw it away ! ...kindly replace all the old stock and kindly pack when u r selling and pack the fresh popcorns when customer is buying and not way before !... dont sell old stock .... rating 1 is for popcorn ! .... for cup cakes rating is 4

If you want to OD on sugar, you go here. Unfortunately, Chennai doesn't have half a decent alternative so you end up going here if you want to go ape shit on cup cakes.

I guess you end up paying for the ambience - the place looks like Asian paint ad for the color pink and it gives you that whole upper class/snobbish experience for the 10 minutes you are in there for.

One mega gripe though and I am not sure if I am justified in putting it down here. The cost of the lemonade was a bit too high for a lemonade. It was delicious and probably the yummiest lemonade I have ever tasted but I got a mild shock when i had to pay 160 for it. Again not a deal breaker and I will probably have more of it :) Maybe I am doing the typical Indian analysis of it by thinking - how much will water and a couple of lemons cost!??

:)

Will recommend this place to anyone who is interested in good food and will pay for it.

All pink outside and sudden transformation to pretty white inside, wooden floor with few chairs to sit and enjoy the cup cakes is what you can expect from the ambiance. . .

Uniquely flavoured cup cakes, classic cup cakes, range of cookies and other baked goodies decorate the display there. . All the cup cakes are different from one another, moist and awesome. . Till date, I Never had a bad one from this place. . !!! Prices are on the higher range. But, worthy for the quality and taste. .
Eesha Akula
The best place in chennai for desserts
Only downside,is the cost
Everything else is beautiful, especially the ambience And the death by chocolate cupcake.
You will keep going back for more.

Have gone here quite a few times and have only had average experiences. First off as a disclaimer : im not a very big cupcake fan but i do like my cakes and brownies.

Have gone here few times, have tried the following .

Red velvet cupcake : i enjoyed it but i wasnt blown away or in amazement. Felt about average and yeaaa.

Rainbow cake : awesome 👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻 must try it ! Its really good. The flavours are just crazy good.

But my friend had it another day and told me it was very average that time. Maybe just a bad batch. But if its a good batch ur in for a treat 👌🏻

Brownie : its a thick slab of chocolate overdose. Its very chocolaty and thick and rich. Each bite takes its time and lingers with taste in your mouth and leaves its presence felt. This is one very enjoyable brownie. Its not fluffy and soft, a little hard but with its rich ness in coco its awesome. One brownie actually filled me up pretty well.

Staff is very polite , nice and helpfull . Ambience is now better that they have kitchen 187 also. Parkingg is ample, mever found deficiency for parking. Prices are a little on higher side. Imo 100-200 for a single cupcake is way too high. But yeaa..

Overall must go if ur a cupcake lover, love cakes ? Try the rainbow cake 👏🏻

Scores -
Taste - 3.6/5
Prking - 5/5
Staff- 4/5
Vfm - 2.5/5
Ambience - 4.5/5
WINNER OF TFNA in chennai - Times food and nightlife awards for BEST CONFECTIONERY 2016 :) After a sumptuous lunch i was craving for something sweet and i looked around everywhere for cupcakes on zomato and finally found this beauty. Its Located on St. Marks road adjacent to The Raintree. Tried three cupcakes - lemon zest, death by chocolate, mocha.

Lemon zest was good with its tangy flavor. Loved the infusion of the tangy lemony flavor throughout the cake.

Death by chocolate was awesome. Clearly one of my favourites.

Mocha was the best and the clear winner as it was pure, smooth and the coffee flavor was rich but not too overwhelming. In one word- PERFECT.

The place is really cool built with a cafe concept for having a good chit chat time with friends. Look-wise it is very good and they also serve a limited menu which i guess will be as good as their cupcakes. A must visit.

Brilliant cupcakes, Brilliant Cocoa taste, beautiful setup. Loved the place. One of the best cupcakes tasted in Chennai. Could love to try again no doubts. Love the eggless concept made fresh and served immediately. Comfortable staff and welcoming.!!
The cup cake company, the place where we get best cup cake in town. Good ambiance and service. Wide variety of cakes. Peaceful atmosphere..!! Good place for a relaxing
Dwitipriya
The place looks straight out of a Barbie movie with its plush pink walls and cute decor. The cupcakes are overpriced given their quantity. Tried the rainbow slice cake. It was pretty average. I feel it could do without the sprinkles on top and a little more cream wouldn't hurt either...
P.s. the owner is kinda cute haha :p

The cupcakes were amazing! The rainbow cake and red velvet cake were also awesome. The ambience and parking are another advantage :) visiting this place definitely again :)

We decided to go to the cupcake company after a hearty meal at Momoyama. The interiors of the place reminded me of the vintage ice cream parlors. The decor is quirky and nice. You can call it a "fancy cupcake place". We had ordered a death by chocolate, tiramisu and chocolate fudge. The tiramisu cupcake was really good and icing of the death by chocolate was good though the cupcake wasn't soft and moist. The chocolate fudge was over price and not worth it at all. It was merely a piece of a chocolate bar. The service is decent. And the ambiance good.

What a place! I have been here numerous times for numerous occasions and it is safe to say that Cupcake Company has the best cupcakes in town.

Quality of food: 4.5/5
The quality is just blow-your-brains-out fantastic. The ingredients are so fresh and the cupcake itself is so creamy. The texture of the cake is so soft and it literally melts in your mouth. I highly recommend their red velvet and death by chocolate varieties.

Ambience: 4/5
A very easy to find location as it is right next to Raintree. There is ample space outside and next door in the creperie, but its best to take away these cakes! They package them so well so there is no worry that they will get ruined! The cupcake display is extremely tempting to look at too!

Worth for money: 3/5
100+ rupees for a small-medium sized cupcake is quite pricey but its worth it when you buy in bulk!

Overall, its a must visit in Chennai for all cupcake lovers!

Cupcake company beats the rest of the city hands down when it comes to cupcakes. But how often would you be willing to pay 150 rupees for one cupcake? The decor is cute, pink and white polka dots, Alice in Wonderland kinda feel. However, its lost on you as there is barely any seating and thus most orders have to be takeouts. Death by chocolate is my all time favorite. I also like Pink Panther.
Overall verdict? Love the dessert, hate the prices.
Food For Thought
I was never a fan of cupcakes until i discovered Cupcake company. Located in a huge house in St. Marys Road, Cupcake company shares its space with Kitchen 187 and is aesthetically done. Looks serene particularly at Night.

From whatever little i tried at Cupcake company, i would say it is one of the best cupcakes in the city specially the Red velvet and Death by Chocolate flavors. It has the right balance of frosting, really moist cupcakes and baked perfectly.

Cookies are decent too, but i would stick to the cupcakes here.
Madhu Thottappillil
Pink decor when you enter, hardly any seating..
But their cup cakes are excellent...
My favourite is 'Death by chocolate' for a chocolate lover like me. It's pure heaven..
I also love their Lady in red... And the tiramasu is usually a hit or a miss.
The best place for cupcakes in this part of town..
Slightly more expensive.. But we'll worth the price
Visweshwar Srinivasan
I've never been there, have had their cupcakes a lot of times. Really very decent food. They've a lot of variety. I did not like their strawberry cup cake. It had an over dose of strawberry essence.
Saikrupa
The ideal place to eat delicious cupcakes! Located on St.Marry's road the cupcake company welcomes its customer with bright pink! This restaurant is really small but serves the most tastiest flavours of cupcakes! The best part is u have home delivery!
Karan
The best cupcakes around town... Definitely must try.. Love the variety of eggless cupcakes.. Also try their dessert in a jar... Cakes are out of this world

A compact shop sharing it's space with Kitchen 187 is one of the best cupcake joints in Alwarpet. After a nice meal in kitchen 187, we were craving for cupcakes and decided to check this place out.

Location and ambience:
The infamous St. Mary's road, Alwarpet holds this pretty place. Inside is all pink and cozy with ever smiling employees. The only downside is it's minuscule seating area but since we were taking away our cupcakes, it didn't matter much to us.

What we ordered :
1. DEATH BY CHOCOLATE - the waiter told us that almost everyone orders this when they come here. So we were intrigued to try it out. If you are a chocolate fanatic, then ha you will worship this. One of the best cupcakes I've had in chennai yet. Too good. (5/5)

2. Tiramisu - I wasn't a huge fan of this cupcake. we had it after a long time and it had become very soggy and had a rum taste to it. After the death of chocolate experience, we had high hopes for tiramisu and it let us down a bit. I am assuming that it tastes good when you eat it immediately. (2/5)

Price :
I think we paid approximately 280₹ inclusive of tax for just 2 cupcakes which is on the pricy side for sure.

Overall 3.5
Food 3.5
Ambience 4
Service 3.5
Pricing 3
This place is very next to Rain tree on Alwarpet..The best Cupcakes in the city.. I loved the Tiramisu and the Lady in Red cupcakes... The cakes are bit pricey...

Definitely the best place in Chennai for cupcakes! Super soft and absolutely delicious. I guess my favorite out of everything here is Death by Chocolate.
Sarah Siraj
Definitely one of my favourite cupcake joints in town. I swear by their Death by Chocolate cupcake, which is a super moist chocolate cupcake with a Nutella filling in the center, topped with a rich chocolate frosting. Though this one is my favourite, I enjoy all their other cupcakes as well - Lady in Red, Plain Jane - they're all baked to the T, super moist and perfectly flavoured. Their brownie is yum too and so is their almost baked cookie.

The service, however, is quite poor and the staff is impolite with poor communication skills. I've noticed this at their other branch in Khader Nawaz Khan road as well.

Pricing is a bit over the top too. But since the quality is great, I guess one can't complain.
Karthik
Expensive. But to say "a treat to ur tatste buds" kinda stuff. I recieved it as a gift on my bday and 5-6 piece was costing around 3.5k. Never mind. Its worth (Y)

One of those pretty places in pretty locations, The Cupcake Company certainly provides a cozy, titillating experience. There's another crêpe cafe next-door so you also have some choice and variety here. I liked how the place is situated a bit inwards, making it feel like it is a little segregated from the hustle and bustle. We tried the death by chocolate and the eggless chocolate cupcakes. Both were delicious, soft, and melted in the mouth. The prices are on the higher side, but I still would recommend you come here after a meal, enjoy a cupcake or two, and just spend some quality time in relaxation.

Pathetic experience! I ordered for a cupcake bouquet as shown on der website two days back and did an advance payment of 1000 Rs . Bouquet had only 7 cupcakes for 1943 Rs! As shown in the picture and on delivery time the bouquet was no were to be matching it ..plus the cupcakes they used was jst about 105 rs each .. and they changed all the flavours as to wat I hd asked for! Delivery timing to top it up.. The taste might be good but they are cheating customers! Above all the employees working inside agree to this that "the cupcake company" takes order nd deliver somethng else!! Owner of the place need to learn some professionalism bfr talking to customers!

A small outlet tucked in a corner of a large compound near the raintree that serves one of the best cupcakes in town. But there is only a table for 2 for people who want to eat from there which I think should be worked on. More tables so that one can sit and enjoy every bite rather than take the cakes away in a box would be great.
Their death by chocolate is a must try.
Ambience is flowery and inviting.
Karthik Ramakrishnan
I had two delicious cupcakes yesterday- the 'Death by Chocolate' and the 'Cookies and Cream'.

Standing true to its name, the former had a gooey, sticky, indefatigable air of being proudly chocolate. It melted in my mouth and it was amazing.

Cookies and Cream was equally good- the cream was fantastic. The entire cupcake was so soft; it kind of recedes into the tasteful pockets.

Both cupcakes were super soft. The place was great- although the pricing is bit high, the cupcakes plus ambiance is definitely worth the price.

The name is super apt.
The place is located a little far away from the Royal Sandwich, on st Marys road.
The set up is very warm and cozy. It's all pretty in pink. The arrangement of the cakes and cupcakes are so good that the minute you see it, you would want to eat it. We ordered
1. Death by chocolate - Amazing! The frosting is so good! The cake super spongy.
2. Dessert in a jar - Absolutely loved it. Loved every spoon of it.
3. Cheesecake - this is where i was disappointed, it tasted a bit sour than how it is supposed to taste.
I felt it was quite pricey. However I enjoyed the overall experience :)

Awesome place fr cupcakes!! Jus loved there fresh cupcakes... Death by chocolate and oreo dream were out of the world... Prices are bit on the expensive side but once fr a while it is fine... Service is good. Ambience was really fantastic... A must try place fr people who are crazy abt cupcakes. Had good time... Will be gng back soon again 😃

The cupcake company visit was an accident. The cupcakes as their cafe is aptly named is amazing. I loved their cupcakes so did my entire family. We chose different types including tiramisu, few chocolate ones, cookie cream, pineapple, red velvet, strawberry crumble and a few other ones. We did not know which was better but I found the red velvet as my chosen one. The lemonade was refreshing and the bottle looked interesting too. We carried most home too. The owner was very friendly and made apt recommendations. Thank you. Definitely worth visiting often especially you love cupcakes. I started liking them more than ever before.

One of the best cup cakes in town.... The ultimate choice would be death by chocolate and Tiramisu...Ambience is not much just a counter but serving staff were good.... Cup cake company and kitchen 187 is under same roof..... With inches apart... Don't understand why 2 different names.

It was my birthday and my friend decided to surprise me with cupcakes & macroons since i m totally crazy about them. Since we had already visited the Old Sandy's chocolate laboratory it was not difficult to find the place. I am someone who loves vintage and totally loved the way the place has been decorated using vintage artifacts. The ambience totally makes you fall in love with the place. Being afternoon there were just couple of people there, We tried 'Death By Chocolate' and 'Plain Jane'.. I must agree i fell in love with the way they were decorated.. And true you cannot stop with one cupcake so we took 'Pink Panther'.. Tasty cupcakes they have you cannot stop yourself by having just one. The only thing we did not like was the manager over there, he was quiet rude the way he answered when my friend asked for Macroons. Anyways in all being a BONG, sweets are inevitable.

Ambience - 4

Quality - 4

Price - 3

Service - 2.5 ( May be in such a sweet place you have a sweet person at the counter ) ..
