Review Diff42 - Chennai (Madras)

One of good place to hangout with friends. Pros- not too expensive, taste was good , ambiance was good , service was prompt. Cons- entrance lighting was not good so people may fell, majority of items at menu was not available.

Nice bar. Drink varieties were not that extensive. But reasonably priced. Great service and ambience. Delicious food. Pocket friendly place. Recommended.

An excellent neighborhood restobar at Vijaya Nagar, Velachery this one is boon to office goers & IT employees. Despite noisy /busy traffic just outside the premises, this basement restobar provides a very calm/serene ambience with excellent choice of liquor and wide resturant menu including cocktail snacks / main course.

Nice place to hang out with friends. Very near to Hotel Milan Velachery. There is no dance floor though. There is a dress code after 6 PM.

Had wonderful side dishes from Tandoori, Paneer Tikka, Corn, Mushroom. Also wonderful ambience. Have variety of hot drinks available, but little bit costlier. There is dress code to go inside.

Best bar in velachery,they have Draught beer selection also,good ambience, professional staffs,sports theme bar.please try madrasi chicken from their snacks selection.Drinks are okay, but the service for food is pretty slow. The ambience is good. The staff are courteous and helpful. The parking is free and easily accessible. Club dress code is mandatory. Prior reservations are recommended. Good place with great food and reasonable price . We didn’t have a reservation. The manager made us wait to check to see if there are tables available and called us in . Guess what , half the tables were unoccupied. They should avoid such behaviour. Rating 5 stars in spite of this for the food and price

Last time when I visited it use to be the best. It seems now stags can't even in dance in their own place or even shout or sing. It is like people should drink and get out. Requested them several times to dance near our place but they didn't and we requested them to change our table due to lack of A/c but they didn't do that as well. The table was free behind us but they didn't change. Last Time when I visited we can dance sing and have fun but it is like a normal A/C bar.If you guys want to celebrate your b'day or party hard just ignore this place.even if you are couple just don't waste your time and money. Good dj without proper Management. Clearly it was not like Last time , the ambience have just gone and noticed that the people who work their have reviewed their place in this page. Given 5 out of 5. Was at Diff 42 for Lunch. Would rate 4/5 for yummy Food and 1/5 for pathetic Service. The food was really yummy and their Combo with beverage or soup is extremely VFM. We ordered Oriental and Continental Combo along with Beverage with a Mushroom starter and it was yummy and portions were ok. Combo along will not be enough though. Its the service that had us pissed off, I spent 15 minutes trying to get attentions every time. The waiter casually tells me their MD is here so they were taking care of his food needs. So ensure you do not go to Diff 42 when their MD is there bcos you will be the unwanted guest who actually pays this MD!!! #restaurantreview #diff42

Pathetic staff called VINOD. He shouts at us when we say that this pub is not stag friendly. He asks us to leave. Dares us to write/ complain to anyone cos he feels that nothing affects their business.. The pub is good but with sick, egoistic, abusive ppl like VINOD who stands at the reception for guest facing role .. what a joke... will never ever recommend or come back

These people think that they have gone to big. Please Respect people. Either do not allow stag entry or have the courtesy to offer chairs to them when the whole pub is empty. I would never visit this place again. The staff is cheap with no manners what so ever. Diff 42 was a fan before but not any more. They acted so biased in a way providing chairs by saying this person is a regular customer. These are heights. Would not hesitate to launch a complain against some of the staff who lack manners. Will take my action soon if they do not come forward to apologize. Worst management

It's not a quiet place to chat with friends for sure. Drinks are inexpensive and food is decent. However, music was very loud, almost unnecessarily so. Otherwise good if you want to party with loud music.

This is my 5th time,I really love service and music,this time in try the flam tower it was really good.

Nothing much special to say about this place , Average ambience. Limited menu items ,Price is quite reasonable. The best part of that night is ordering the dish Mexican chicken fajitas on Fire which along with a cocktail. As the name suggests, it's incredibly extremely spicy and sizzling hot.

Very disappointed with the service. Items were mixed up, some were forgotten and everything was delayed. Food taste was good. Music was way too loud and that was very disturbing. Servers were polite.

I had a mixed feeling. First of all, the concept of not allowing shorts on a weekday is ridiculous. I understand Fridays or weekends. You go in , and it's so dark that we wouldn't know of we are in shorts or pants. Location - Velachery, located on the main road.<br/><br/>Ambience - Way too dark and loud, this place feels more like an old school bar than a Resto bar or pub.<br/><br/>Drinks - Anything other than the beer is way too expensive for the experience they provide and the imported drinks do not have the same effect as those available at other pubs or liquor stores making one feel a little suspicious.<br/><br/>Food - We tried at least 15 dishes and the Malabar Tawa Fish is the only dish I would recommend. Even the non veg platter was a disappointment.<br/><br/>Service - Dismal. The staff were polite but indifferent. I asked for a knife which I never received. The service could not possibly be any slower.<br/><br/>Price - The food is over priced as there is nothing special about it. Beer is reasonably priced. Liquor is way too expensive, with 90ml of seemingly watered down absolute costing about Rs. 1600. A party of 9, of which 4 did not order any drinks cost Rs. 25000.00 and nobody was even sufficiently high enough.

Garlic Bread<br/>3.Chicken tikka<br/>4.Nasi Goreng<br/><br/>Coming to the soup, I personally didn't liked it much, it was watery and the taste was not so great.. Garlic bread they served 3pieces with some cheese and seasoning was tasting good.. Chicken Tikka was a hit with all the right flavors.. Nasi goreng an Indonesian dish at the rate of 400inr was worth the money, they serve seasoned rice(something like a fried rice), salad, bulls eye omlette, prawns in skewers.. It had all the right flavors, saluted in coconut oil and a ping of dry fish taste(they say its because of the seasoning).. At last I would give a 4star to this place..

Very poorly treated. Manager sent us away saying dress code not followed, whereas the hotel number given on Zomato said there is no dress code. This was a waste of 1 hour for us as we had to come from Ashok Nagar. Better management needed, please put necessary details on Zomato website. Very poor way to treat customers. It was unplanned visit. I am quite surprise to see this in Velachery . Starting valet parking to separate smoking area , all were good. <br/><br/>Ordered for beverage and steak . Found that pretty decent . Decent crowd , good music too. <br/><br/>Not much spacious

Place is perfect for hanging especially because you get a tower beer and the non veg platter was laid out good as well I only gave a 4 because music was kinda boring since they only had old collection but the beats and ambience is nice.

Diff42 is a cool place in Velachery, Chennai. In fact, it is one of the only pubs with good offers at quite a reasonable price. The only problem is the place is very dark, more than a pub should be - not really a place you would go to if you want to have a good conversation. However, the service is pretty good and so is the food. I visited this place quite a number of times when I was in Chennai.

This place is just apt for stress busters..! The food is delicious which makes you grab couple of more drinks. I love their food & ambience, when I talk about food I must tell you about their service. Their service is kick ass, they are very polite and ever ready including the bartenders..! Last but not least their manager Vinod is the king of all. He knows how to gather people with good reputation and keep the trouble at bay. This is truly a best & safest place for friends & couples, who could throw their hands in the air for fun and frolic.

The drinks are good, but the food is great! I can visit this place again and again just for their starters. A little costly though. So check out their cocktails during the happy hours - go for Long island and Bull frog. In starters, Chilly loose prawns is highly recommended!

This bar is just OK. I am giving them 2 because they ruined my favourite cocktails for me. I ordered a margarita and all I got is vodka in Tropicana and that’s just depressing! But on their menu it is supposed to have vodka, cranberry and few more syrups! So I went like where the hell is my cranberry!! My friend ordered another cocktail which again had only Tropicana in it. I love to drink and this is not what you do to cocktails. So I didn’t order anything further.<br/><br/>The food is amazing here. I had corn cutlet which is a sizzler. Very delicious and perfectly cooked.<br/><br/>I am still going to stick to 2 because their cocktails are awful!

Love their music and food. I liked their garlic bread. You could also order a large pint for your table. The service is quick even though it is hugely crowded. This is a bar, and maybe its not entirely fair to rate them on food, when its a rare bar that serves decent food. Also, with Zomato deciding to get rid of the 0.5 scale for rating, this one got rounded down.<br/><br/>There's parking in the back, though not a whole lot. The interiors are fairly dark, and very loud- again par for the course for a place that makes its bread and butter from alcohol. <br/><br/>Service was acceptable, though its not easy to get anyone's attention with the dim lighting and the sound. They didn't have a lot of what was on the menu, which was less than impressive given that the menu isn't massive to begin with.<br/><br/>What food there was, was not bad. The corn fritter starter was especially good, though everything else on the menu that was vegetarian was pretty average.<br/>Realistically though, this is not a place you go to for a nice meal. This is my 6th or 7th visit here , time for a review .For a craft beer lover like me from Bangalore Diff 42 works! Been drinking beer all the over the world and the only place that sucks is Chennai. But Diff 42 changed that for me . The choice of beer on tap is awesome! Heineken, Edelweiss, Kf , BE, Hoegaarden (bottle) Sol n Corona (bottle) the list goes on. Staff were helpful, special mention to Vinod the manager very professional and courteous. The Decor was a little dull , food was ok , chicken tikka was good . Definitely a gr8 spot for beer lovers who r starved in Chennai for good beer on tap! Hope you guys keep the beer taps running on full !!! Would have given 5 stars if the food and decor were better.

This resto lounge treats you bad, they keep on changing the rules for stag entry, once they told no stag entry after 7pm and once it was ok for them.<br/>Another evening we called and they were fine for stags but then when we reached they simply wanted to avoid telling all sort of reasons, please display the rules if you have any or simply allow only couples.

Me and my friend visited Diff 42 yesterday , the place was easy to find and the staffs were courteous , we had cocktails and few beers , they were good and price is nominal  , no big names in the menu , contemporary drinks . The ambiance and feel of the place is really nice , not too loud . Coming to the food part , <br/>We ordered the following1.Crispy chilly baby corn , which was good would rate 4/5 2.Thai BBQ honey pepper chicken - Most of the pieces were bone , which i wouldnt prefer to be a good accompaniment while having a drink , the plating was good . However missed the Thai flavour in it . Had a good amount of BBQ sauce which i liked , but the bones made it a bad choice of my order Would rate 2/53.Szechwan chicken fried rice - Dint taste good , would say bad .Would rate 1/5The food came quick and on time . Plating was decent .Suggestion :1. It would be good if the chicken are boneless in the dishes 2. Certainly improvise the Fried rice - Qty is fine , Qlty and taste needs serious improvement 3. I guess the staffs were limited yesterday , will be better if the service staffs are little quick . Thank you for the service

Good place to get high in a city like chennai.The rates are okay, a bit high i would say but the ambiance is really soothing and you won't regret visiting this place.<br/>

Visited on Friday.<br/>Good crowd! We just had a chance to drop by. They allowed us despite no reservation. Decor and food is on good side. But when it comes to drinks, we don't have much choice. little disappointed when we didnt get the brand of beer we asked from their menu. Bit of an expensive side.<br/>Overall Okay!

Drinks and cocktails are good. Ambience is also nice. There are ladies night and Bollywood nights.<br/><br/>Food quality is okayish. Usually finger food.

The bouncers first reaction was stags not allowed, highly disappointed we were and went back to our table and started having our beer and watching other men and women dance... We kept drinking and in a while could see a bouncer continues staring at me and making weird faces, showing his arms muscles as if he wanted to fight, we did escalate but there was no response, now this bouncer was standing just aside our table and misbehaving the same way... We just left the place highly upset..... Considering when we are treated like this i am sure, how others would be.. Feeling bad and cheap

Considering when we are treated like this i am sure, how others would be.. Leave it, hate is the word for the place... Not good food, only good thing would be you get heniken there....

Food was great. All the veg and non veg starters are so good. The dance floor weren't that great. They just showed a corner when asked for dance floor and dj wasn't good as well.

One of the good hangout place for the girls' gang for decent food with awesome drinks at a very affordable rate..Thumps up to the location as well where we get the public transport and the cabs at any point of time....

One of the nicest ambiance .! Bartender was very friendly , had patience to answer our qns , full of stuff .!<br/><br/>We only know while entering the place that it requires reservation on call .! We hadn't done but still they were so nice to allow us inside to have a seat near the bar tender .!<br/><br/>Looking forward to visit the place more time but after a call to reserve 😁🍓🥂

Me being a “not so party” type person diff 42 was at its best. It is located at the Velachery junction, easy to find but difficult to park as it is exactly located at the signal itself. Looks like a usual pub but with a way better organised seatings that gives better privacy between tables. I went on their 3rd anniversary on a free invite from the DJ, otherwise they follow strict reservation policies. Always book for a table an hour before. Coming to food, they have good choices of finger foods and a very less options on sizzler(precisely 2) and other continental food. Pricing of Cocktails and mocktails were reasonably lesser than few other resto-lounges. A good place for a budget party.

Food tastes good but they can improve on the quantity as per the value. Drinks are affordable and there is a wide variety of booze available. DJ is good too and ambience is correct for a pub.

Very nice place specially in city like Chennai.. They serve some good quality liquor. You can go with your special friend.. Coming to the food it is also good but rate is not good enough

Visited this place with friend for lunch after we came to know about the Combo Meal. Ordered oriental and continental combo with few mock tails like lychee and pine. The Food was simply great. It had a small portion of rice, cooked vegetables and a big portion of meat with gravy on it. One side the food was good and different other side the mock tail was well mixed(I am a mock tail lover) also to our surprise they provided brownie and cake. Must try food combo for a nominal price(350/-) We had good time watching tv and chatting.

Went to this place with a friend last week,but not so crowded on saturday ,quite nice place to visit with friends .Ambiance makes us feel good.we ordered some shooters ,cocktail and a beer ,it was nice .F@ood was awesome .Service is okay.will Visit again Soon.

This place gives you the best in terms of ambience. The music is outstanding. The only problem here is the dance floor. The place is too congested to accomodate a huge crowd.

This place was good but was not great as anticipated !! Maximum rum/whiskey brand was not available but the non veg platter was one good thing about the place.

Been here with my friends to celebrate one of ours birthday.Diff 42 is located in Velachery just opposite to Vijayanagar Bus stand. Pre-Booking is very much recommended.Nice Place.They have sitting partition for stags and couples.Small dance floor is there but only couples are allowed to dance. DJ was playing some good mixes. It's bar counter is very attractive.Large Projector are there for live streaming matches or Playing music.This places attracts crowd on weekends.Bar menu and food menu both was awesome.Food tasted really good. We took Kulcha,butter nan,butter paneer,dal makhni and chikcen 65 with draught beer.Staff were courteous.When DJ starts tuning , atmosphere becomes very live.Enjoy food , liquor and music in DIff 42.Thanks.
