Review Geetha Cafe - Chennai (Madras)

Sudhanshu Gupta
Good food as usual.. Saravana Bhavan is almost synonymous with the taste of Chennai.. the dosas and sambar were as good as always, not to mention the delicious chutneys.. My personal favorites are the paper dosa, rava dosa and filter kaapi!

Good hotel. Friendly staff. A treat to taste buds.. Very well situated in between market . Easily noticeable from vehicle. Very near to famous cotton cloths showroom. Price is somewhat higher as quantity is small. But overall a good visit. Still the food is tasty. But no parking. No good toilets. Very congested inside dining area. Services are good. But cleaning is not upto the mark. Ac is not proper. Poor planning. The name has lost the charm. Please try other outlets. The taste of the food and service was good as always. But they need to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. The wash room was smelly and saw few small roaches running on the dining table Saravana Bhavan has lost its charm. Food is just okay. Nothing special about the place and food. Even the liquid soap for hand wash was not available, even after requesting for it for more than 15 minutes. Staff are very lazy and incompetent. Better to avoid this place. Good and friendly staff. Meals are reasonably priced. The taste is really good. Good vegetarian restaurant with satisfactory services. This restaurant is a good choice for South Indian breakfast specially idli and vada. They make very good ghee roast. You can get ghee roast till afternoon. At afternoon they start meals service where you can get as much as you want. Overall not a bad restaurant. But there should be improvement in cleanliness.

Awesome south Indian food. Although they don't mention it, do ask for their combo breakfast plate which pretty much gives all their speciality items. But be sure to work up huge appetite though!

When one is having food, it is the taste that matters the most. Saravana Bhavan scores great 5 in this section. The awesome Ghee Roast Masala Dosa was like mouth melting stuff at right time in evening. Visited this place after reviewing on TripAdvisor. Service was good and ambience was Ok. I wanted to have IdiAppam which was not available though in menu. That was the only downside. After shopping at Pondy Bazar this is best place to satisfy needs n desires of your tummy... Great place.... Visiting again for sure....

Over rated place Name is idli shop which was worst smelly highly fermented Even chutneys were mediocre Paniyyarm ie Appe as called in Maharashtra are far more better as compared to this place They were not at all authentic had cheese in center who the hell puts cheese in Appe no coconut no onion completely disappointed Only nice thing served here was wadas Please skip this place if you can surely go for sarvana bhavan or sangeetha

The best quality of south Indian food you can enjoy here.

So popular u can find them everywhere, had an good experience of authentic south indian food chennai style, u should definitely try....

This is a vegetarian hotel. They serve good quality hygienic food. Delay for getting food is very less. Hotel is having sufficient seats to accommodate large number of people. So people can opt this place while on tour. Parking space was not sufficient for our bus while I visited, still I feel this as a good option since it can accommodate a large group.

It was a classic south indian breakfast, but was shocked to see a few critters walking around.

Today I have placed the order of dosa and vada combo breakfast.&nbsp; The menu showed in zomato is 2 dosa, 1 vada, pongal but they delivered 1 dosa only when i called and asked to zomato person he replied plz ask the restaurant and then i called to geetha cafe number some one took and gave the receiver to manager and when i explained they lethargically told we doknow we have mentioned only 1 dosa and said the customer is talking too much and cut the call.&nbsp; Then i complained to zomato support they too called restaurant and not picked up the call and asked to write the review here.&nbsp; They have also taken this issue to higher authority.&nbsp; You may all think why i should tell these all for single dosa.&nbsp; Its not about single dosa but we the customers are ordering food as we are in some issues of preparing or making food due to health or some busy work schedule and paying our money and ordering but see how these persons are irresponsible in replying.&nbsp; I took screenshot you see time till now while i m writing review the menu is 2 dosa only.&nbsp; As i m busy i ordered breakfast for my kid for school i cant stop or wait her from having it for school as its already late for her for the sake of taking picture or proof.&nbsp; Hope both the zomato team and restaurant understand and behave accordingly.&nbsp; Without customer nothing will the number 1.&nbsp; This is second time for me but first time with different restaurant as i leave it it happended with this.&nbsp; I bought foot previously from geetha cafe, but this is first time i m facing this kind of worst delivery and worst customer support and irresponsible manager and service.

Nothing changes with Geetha cafe. The food is tasty, yummy and tummy filling as always. Reasonably priced too. Our regulars are onion rava dosa, poori Masala, Spl dosa and idiyappam and veg kurma.

Cheap and best place in tnagar for an veg meals. Their owners are friendly and can be seen in restaurant regularly. Nice service. No AC area available here

not worth for money.both quality and quantity.

My fondest memories as a kid is coming for breakfast with my dad to this place. And not too much has changed about Geetha Cafe over the years. Their mini tiffin combo is ideal for anyone who wants to get a little taste of everything in their breakfast spread. A must try is also their ghee roast dosa and it would be a sin to leave the place without trying their filter coffee.

An erstwhile Chennaite must be aware of Geetha cafe. It’s one of the oldest restaurant in chennai, and indeed its ambience gives the retro vintage feel.<br/>Have been here many times, and recently payed visit to breakfast.<br/>Went for idly and Vada, podi dosa. Both were just ok. Sambar tasted good, podi dosa was quite salty. Service was just fine. They serve South Indian, North Indian and chat varieties during late noon. <br/>Out of all, my my pick of the lot always would be their blissful filter coffee. Rather than their breakfast and lunch menu, would always recommend to hang out for their coffee ☕️ 😊<br/><br/>VFM - 3/5<br/>Quality - 3/5<br/>Quantity- 3/5<br/>Taste - 3/5<br/>Service- 3/5

Seeing the ratings and reviews, I had bought parcel meals. Worst experience ever. Horrible Quality and Taste. Stay away, Stay safe. Don't waste your money.

I have been year many a times during my childhood. It was one of the oldest places which exists here. They serve good tiffin, used to love the gobi manchurian dry and chilly panner! Coffee and tea was also good.

Geetha Cafe is an institution in Pondy Bazaar. No shopping trip is complete without a visit to Geetha Cafe. This place serves South Indian Vegetarian cuisine. The dishes are simple yet tasty and are reasonably priced. The meals here are particularly good and quite filling. Other South Indian tiffen items like dosa and idli are also quite good. They serve chaat items during the evening times although they aren’t that great. The coffee here is a must have. The staff here are quite courteous and prompt and you would not be required to wait a long time for service. Although they do tend to give you the bill even before you finish your meal but that is a quirk you tend to get used to.

*Honest Review* Geetha Cafe is incomparable with Sangeetha as this cafe has delicious and authentic food! Taste wise, Geetha Cafe is a winner. They have great cooks and the food tastes YUM. Tamil Nadu style ! Their Sambar Vadai and Idiyappam kurma are just totally drool worthy and if u haven’t tried them... what are you waiting for! <br/>DELIVERY- Very quick and fast. Well packed food, piping hot.<br/>DINE IN- The only reason i have given 4 stars is that the eating area is very basic. It’s a simple restaurant but more focus should be there in terms of ambience and hygiene.(Geetha cafe is hygienic; but could do better) Otherwise full 5 Star rating!!!

With lots of expectation we went to dine here. But we were little disappointed with the quality of food served to us. We ordered podi dosa, chilly parotta, basundhi and keera vadai. In this only basundhi tasted really good. It was thick and creamy. Keera vadai was ok. We were informed that it was their signature dish so we were expecting more. But chilli parotta was horrible and so is the podi in podi dosa. It was bittery. Couldn't eat much of the parrotta as it was like deep fried chunks. May be we expected more from this age old eatery in pondy bazar!!<br/><br/>Food:3/5 (just fr basundhi and fairly better keera vadai)<br/>Ambience: 2/5 (chair was not stable and hand wash area could have been more clean)<br/>Service:2.5/5<br/>Vfm:2.5/5

Will never stop visiting this place ever! My go to place after every shopping visit to t nagar. <br/><br/>Must try: North Indian Thali, Cheese Fried Rice and Paneer Dosa<br/><br/>The best thing about Geetha Cafe is their wonderful customer service that makes people want to go back there again!

Seeing this hotel for long time but never visited it. Atlast got a chance to try. The one old traditional hotel still exist in heart of t.nagar.. pondy bazaar. From interior to ambience to every bit of it is as old as it was. Not degrading it actually iam loving it. I feel there should b shops like this. Service wise they are good and taste not bad at all. Should try without hesitation.

This has been ruling the pondy Bazar for ages.People who work, college students and even for family outing people come often to have their excellent food.<br/><br/>Ambience--This is a normal resto, where the ground floor is non AC and the first floor is Ac resto.<br/><br/>Food- We ordered,<br/><br/>Chilli parota -- This was damn crispy♥️♥️♥️♥️ and perfect♥️♥️♥️♥️<br/><br/>Ghee roast-- This was more like a family roast.Crispy and shining with the ghee on the top♥️♥️<br/><br/>Gobi manjurian -- They use the lollipop sauce and it was juicy and tasted too good♥️♥️😍😍<br/><br/>#mustvisitfortheirdosa♥️

Good old place in Pondy bazaar that serves standard veg fare.Remarkable this place has managed to hold on to the 80's Madras vibe still. The food is largely a "Kumbakonam - Udupi" fusion. Not sure why dal-kichidi is very unpopular down South. When boredom of sambar rice sets in dal-kichidi could be a replacement. Would like sweets on offer to, like the gulab jamuns in Lakshmi Sagar,Adyar.<br/><br/>Totally light on your wallet this place offers good fare though parking could be tricky. The coffee is very good, so are the dosas. With Balaji Bhavan only a stone's throw away they have managed quite a feat hustling in the restaurant business all these years.

Good vegetarian hotel , vintage hotel, operating for a long time, serves good south indian food ,located at the main shopping hub of Chennai i.e. Pondy bazaar, found in the main roadside, attracts a decent crowd and sometimes a great crowd at peak hours.

So went to this place for dinner, cuse I could not get past the smell from this place.<br/>The decor is simple and classic with hints of historic appeal. The staff are kind and also suggest the places specials. <br/>I had the keerai vadai and onion vadai, they were served hot and we're super crispy as the waiter had mentioned. <br/>For mains I had a plain dosa, and poori masala. I'm not a big fan of pooris the sole fact of how greasy they are. But these weren't so really happy with that <br/>Ended with a authentic filter coffee <br/>Overall a great experience <br/>The total bill was 429
Vaishali Mani
One among the oldest food chain in pondy bazar with the most heart whelming and most satisfying customer service!! The staffs are very polite and kind :) Certain arrogant restaurants must surely learn from these ppl :) Tasty and hot food in  affordable price is offered with great zeal :)

Prime location of T. Nagar and if you are not here, you have missed a great deal. Chennai is my second home, and whenever I am at Chennai, I do visit T. Nagar, and I manage my stomach to make some place for Geeta's food. Their main course rice is awesome delicacy to eat. Their hospitality also gives a sense of 'Atithi Devo Bhava'.<br/><br/>Recommendation from this non-tamil guy.

They are not even picking  the call if picked also not answering properly for the customer requirements . Very bad experience with geetha cafe in T.nagar

I've only just realised that I never reviewed this place and let me tell you, IT NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED.<br/><br/>My family and I used to visit this place often but we stopped several years ago. Mainly because, once, I remember, we were having dinner there and I was watching the staff do their work. I'm guessing somebody had ordered a parcel of rice so one of the staff had taken a parcel bag and was shovelling liberal amounts of rice into it. His hand slipped and some of the rice which was supposed to go into the bag slipped into the floor. He looked to see if someone was watching him, not realising that I was, and quickly took the rice from the floor.....and put it into the parcel bag! <br/><br/>Needless to say my family was shocked and so was I. After that, our visits stopped and we kind of forgot about the place. That was about four years ago. So why have I given the place a 4/5 rating? Keep on reading. <br/><br/>Yesterday, we wanted a break from our usual visits to Sangeetha and so, we thought we'd try Geetha Cafe again. For those of you who don't know, Geetha Cafe is located right in the middle of Pondy Bazaar. On normal days, you can go in a car and park it somewhere near the restaurant, but on days when the bazaar might be crowded, it is advisable to go in an auto or a cab (or bus, if you prefer that sort of thing). <br/><br/>Geetha Cafe has two floors. The ground floor contains the non-A/C restaurant and the first floor contains the AC restaurant (which is known by the name, Geetha Cafe's VeeKay restaurant. It's called VeeKay because the initial of the founders was VK apparently). The restaurant is a bit old and has that lovely nostalgic old-world charm to it which makes it an attractive option for people wanting some authenticity. :)<br/><br/>We decided to try the AC restaurant again and I was a bit surprised to see that they had refurbished the place. It looked cleaner and more neat now. <br/><br/>We decided to order a Ghee Roast, Parota Kuruma, Onion Uthappam and in the end, we ordered a couple of milkshakes. Take it from me, the place might not be the best-looking, but the food there is amazing! If you like the cuisine being served there, you'll definitely love their food. Their sambar, chutneys and their dosas are splendid. The Parota was brilliant too. The milkshakes were like the ones you get anywhere else. It's a pleasure to eat in Geetha Cafe. Other than South Indian, the restaurant also serves North Indian, Chinese, Chaat and they have the odd Malay dish. <br/><br/>Service was good, although the staff were a bit unresponsive at times. But that's okay. The pricing was almost the same as it is in other AC restaurants like Sangeetha's Okadeys. The bill came to around 450. <br/><br/>I would recommend potential visitors to go to the non-A/C restaurant because you get the more authentic experience there and it's also a bit more less expensive.<br/><br/>So, I would go there again for sure. Yes, there have been the occasional bad experiences, but I feel that's there with every restaurant. Just because of one unpleasant incident, I feel that the restaurant should not be termed 'bad'. And this one is a very good one too! <br/><br/>So, please check it out. It's a good place to eat! :)
Balaji
A good place to dine. Kanchipuram idli is one of my favorites and the south indian dishes are good too. A normal family restaurant to have a bite.

Its been a long time since i visited this hotel.. and the taste was simply mesmerizing.. awesome hotel and awesome taste.. though very less ppl to take care of you..
Lakshya Kanpaathi
Located in prime area so definitely not a tough task to find out... "the best" for vegetarians they do have an a/c hall @ top floor .... dosas are to just die for absolutely Devine, flawless provided with 2 different chutneys a cup of sambar.....I personally never regret to head here more than twice ... worth for money you pay also the food tastes heavenly superb...<br/>Plain dosa 5/5<br/>Keerai vadai 3/5...
Gayathri Vasu
An old timey cafe, with food to match. Got that charm of old Madras with their perfect sambar n dishes clanging in the background. I always come here after a long day of shopping at pondy bazaar for a snack. Love it :)

I and my friend went last Sunday and we had sambar idly and chilly parota. They were good and the rates are pretty okay.<br/><br/>The service was good. I want to go here again to try out the north indian dishes. They are budget friendly restaurants.
The Food Snob
A lovely cozy QSR.. no greay shakes on the ambience. Its all about food and service..<br/><br/>Ordered 14 idli.. while the idlis felt old and chewy and had a crust they were laden with ghee and the sambhar was slightly sweet karnataka style..<br/><br/>The paper roast masala had an amazing quantity of the masala and nice thin and crisp.. the chutneys were a let down.. <br/><br/>Podi uttapam had a lot less podi compared to their earlier versions.. :/<br/><br/>And sambhar vada was lip smacking.. superb..
Akshay S
I ordered ghee podi onion masala dosa.<br/>It had a nail in it. Nail as in aani.<br/>Then I ordered a parotta kurma.<br/>Kurma had a mosquito in it.<br/>Owner was kind enough to apologise several times and waive the bill.
Sudarshan Subramanian
This was my first experience and I would say I really liked it. The onion pakoda was a chance but I am happy to have hit it. It was one of the finest ones I ever had in a very long time. The cauliflower masala dosa did remind that any thing can do into a dosa, bringing up the 99 variety dosa concept. highly recommended to anyone <br/>With Bhavana Sundar

Went to Geetha Café on Sunday night for tiffin. It is nice to see that they are still maintaining their rich legacy. Had ordered Parota and sweet Lassi. Both are upto the expectations. Regarding the cleanliness, they should improve the hand wash area. The seating place is maintained well, the service has also been good. Overall a nice and economic place to have food in Pondy Bazar.
Niranjan Sridhar
One of the oldest surviving hotels in T.Nagar. Been coming here forever. If it is pondy bazaar, there are just two options to have a great meal.1.) Geetha Cafe2.) Balajee BhavanThe food hasn't changed in years and the hotel continues to maintain its standards. Old world charm and great food.
Mk
Been visiting here more than 10 years. Though this restaurant offers a varied menu, I always stick to the south Indian dishes. Even after moving out of Chennai, I try to drop in when I visit.<br/><br/>This is a restaurant which has been in this business from the 80's and there are not much changes wrt decor or ambiance.<br/><br/>I was surprised to see the steep hike in the price this time.<br/><br/>You can try anything south Indian, though chapatti and roti are also okay. I never tried north Indian stuff here.<br/><br/>Try the "paruppu podi", "gongra pickle" served with the meals.<br/><br/>Don't miss their "keerai vadai", "adai."<br/><br/>Ambiance - 3/10.<br/>Food - 8/10.<br/>Service - 6/10.<br/>VFM - 6/10.
Pradeep Varma
After spending sizeable time in pondybazar had to have something to eat. It was past 9.0pm on a Saturday and walked into geetha cafe. It is a really old place and the ambience and people working there all look the age. Found the first floor AC hall quite empty but for a lone family. Ordered some dosas and paneer butter/ nan combo for the children. The food in fact was quite tasty and hot. Asked for some starters and was served a cauliflower dish which was crispy, moderately spiced and really good.( I don't know if it was Gobi 65 or what?) If one is looking for good vegetarian food and is not much worried about the ambience etc.,this place is fine. Service and pricing are reasonable.
ARUDRA
Heeehaaaa :D what to say we made there by accident ;) bt still the ambience was okie we ordered for unlimited Andhra meals, naan mushroom masala and mushroom briyani ;) actually the meals was below average I don't know how they could provide this kinda food very blunt usually I don't address any joints like this bt I couldn't resist :-/ :-/ :-/ garlic naan was good actually I could find plenty of them on the bread people like me who loves garlic they will be happy bt in that also corners of the naan are burnt :( :( mushroom masala is okie bt too much of cardamom flavour :-/ actually I was expecting for briyani bt wat they served is just a vegetable rice with mushroom here and there. No flavour nothing :-( on the whole "onnum solluradhuku illa"<br/>Ambience 2.5/5<br/>Food 2/5<br/>Price 2/5

This is a place which was there for years and haven't changed much, could make out as you step in. Sunday evenings at T.Nagar are so special and you can't escape from the glistening lights nor the loud chants of sellers or the posh display of goodies across branded stores. Amidst all, the old Geetha Cafe with its vintage name board is located in Theyagaraya road and its hard to miss.<br/><br/>Parking is a headache, nonetheless in all parts of T.Nagar. A big board right in front shows you what is special for the day. Hard to get seats as well and in most cases you end up sharing tables. The first floor AC wasn't available.<br/><br/>Quick snack: Medhu Pakoda (4 pcs) - Bonda (4 pcs) - Pav Bhajji - Masala Puri - Filter Coffee to end!<br/><br/>Everything served hot. Takes time to get if you order something like Pav Bhajji or Masala Puri. Softer on pockets. Nice chutneys, however sambar was below ordinary.<br/><br/>It is a place where people walk in and walk out, day around to have pure veg food amidst busy shopping. If you look something decent when no ambiance is preferred, then Geetha Cafe can be relied upon.
Deepak G
Been here many times..taste is slowly sinking..esp their thali.. Good chat and eve snacks.. Can try once for its south indian dishes... Ambience is old .. Pricing is reasonable..service is also good.

I am not sure as to how many times I have been to this place during my childhood. In those days when malls were not existent and Pondy Bazaar was probably the go to shopping place in Chennai (oops Madras), a visit to Geetha Cafe for some tiffin (sic) and coffee was always on the cards. <br/><br/>This time I went to Geetha Cafe almost after 10 years. Nothing has changed except the rates. With unlimited meals at Rs.100 all-inclusive, it is nothing but value for money. The quality of food was excellent. Nothing great about the service though, but who cares. All I needed was a quick lunch and not the dining experience. <br/><br/>Relived my memories and enjoyed it. Overall for the food and the consistency in quality: 4/5
Srikanth K
Ambience is not so good but it's spacious. Good food especially adai avail, medhu pakoda. Coffee is a must to have.<br/>The chutney and sambhar is also well prepared. Will visit again

Night 10 o clock after kabali movie in ags wanted to have quick dinner. I thought of going to pondy bazaar Road with balajee bhavan in mind. Before reaching it I could see geetha cafe just entered then I realised it must be a very old place in this area. <br/>As usual with the traditional old outlets it may not have great decor but the service is really good. As soon as we sat waiter wants to know what my kid wants to eat first, my son told dosa so he first ordered dosa then he was asking for my order. <br/>I ordered idli which hot and the coconut chutney simply great. Poori is good and masala is average. <br/>Rava dosa for my wife is also good. <br/>Finally a cup of tea to finish. <br/>The bill amount is 232. Surely we can catch when feel just have food and move on.
SHIKHAR
Authentic food , the curd rice is delicious , Mysore bonda is great here , I would definitely recommend it . <br/>Service is not so good , it's very casual .
Chandhni Jayakanth
Geetha Cafe has the best chaat now. Go there every time while shopping at Pondy Bazaar and their chaat is the best. It's great for an evening snack, at least that's the only time I've been there.
Shibam Halder
Old restaurant, with a 70's deco and ambience feel. Good place for old shopaholics and modern "i need something" kind of shoppers. Situates at the right place.
Moulee
At Pondy Bazzar, place for shopaholics in Chennai, this is a restaurant specializing in south indian cuisine. Food taste and quality are acceptable and so is the generosity in servings. Specific recommendation would be to have Onion Uthappam, filter coffee, and mysore bonda here
Anirudh
A very old restaurant situated in the midst of pondy bazaar continues to serve the customers satisfactorily. <br/><br/>The ambience is not a very appealijg one because it isnt well kept and maintained. The wash basin isnt clean. <br/><br/>Coming to the food, the South indian meals was not bad but decent. Nothing great though. The pav bhaji i heard was good so ordered a plate. That was one of the best i have had. Worth a try. <br/><br/>Overall a decent place for a quick snack.
Arvind Venkataraman
The quality has degraded over the years and its only a shadow of it's former self. I hated this place for the extreme noise level, pathetic food, service and above all ambiance.
Asif M Habib
A restaurant which is pretty much old and has seen Chennai evolve. You will notice that time has frozen when you enter the place. Ranting about the ambiance is very silly as it should give a quaint look. <br/><br/>This is one such places where, you will get the popular dishes all through the day. I really wanna go unconventional by trying a 14 sambhar idly for lunch. The sambhar was but bland but piping hot. The idlies were semi soaked.<br/><br/>The service is prompt but too prompt that they won't allow you to have a leisure dine in. They take your order, serve and bill it, Everything in hurry.<br/><br/>The prices are pretty less but higher for the quantity served. But, for the authenticity, you can pay even higher.
Guru Prasad
One of the few restaurants that has stood the test of time. The restaurant serves south Indian, north indian and tandoori foods(all vegetarian). I personally recommend their south Indian items (Idly, vada, dosa and it's varieties) and coffee.
Anitha Santharam
You can't miss spotting this place but not a one you would want to enter in terms of ambiance.<br/>A very old restaurant losing its shine.<br/>The tiffin items won't disappoint you but the lunch meal would.<br/>Can drop in when you can't find any other place.
Shobika Gunasekaran
I have been hunting this place right from small. Geetha cafe is always a step in for my family after a day's shopping.<br/>▶not a great ambience. Decent.<br/>▶A.C/ non A.C<br/>Food here today,<br/>▶tomato uthappam- yes as the name reads, tomatoes smeared all around the dosa. It tasted okay. Not strong enough to beat the onion uthappam. The ever wow dosa constants, tri chutney and sambhar were not nailed. Can work on that a bit. A suggestion!<br/>▶gobi manchurian- as always, gobi deep fried and dashed with immense capsicum, onions, spring onions and too much soya sauce. Gobi was kindah sticky.<br/>▶chilli parotta- their USP. To the core crispy parotta pieces and routine add ons. Good one. Never lets its followers down.<br/>So,<br/>▶shopping zone decent vegetarian food eating place.<br/>▶can improve the quality of food and water. Not very satisfied.<br/>Cheerz!<br/>
Sharadkumar
location : in the main road of pondy bazaar, opposite to rathna stores.<br/><br/>On seeing the place we can make  out that this is a aged place...<br/>Run by aged people , right from billing counter to serving people are above 50s, may be they are working here since long time,..<br/><br/>Price is affordable here, taste is ok.. ppl who are shopping in pondy bazaar can hop-in here for a small refreshment here.. <br/><br/>nothing abt interiors here.. An average & decent hotel to say..
Satish A K
One of the vintage restaurants in the vicinity of Pondy Bazar, but a quick hang out place for the shoppers who pass by this street. We dropped in randomly for having a good filter coffee and to give rest to our exhaustive feet.<br/>We also ordered onion bajji but it wasn't that great but coffee tasted great. It refreshed our exhaustive brains with some soothing caffiene. Ambience wise you would find normal seating and A/C seating. Normal seating area would not look hygienic but we can get adjusted for a brief break. Cost is quite economic and will fit any earning pockets easily.

The place is probably one of the oldest eateries in Pondy Bazaar. You can walk in to expect some good South Indian food at nominal prices. Nothing too good, nothing too bad, though the ambience does take you to Madras.<br/><br/>Good for snacks/dinner after an exhaustive shopping spree in Pondy Bazaar.

Dropped in during one of those shopping walks at Pondy Bazaar. It is a down to earth place and we had pani pooris, rose milk and samosa chaat. Tasty stuff served hot with great humility. A place where you can drop by without a second thought!

Its a fairly old restaurant in pondy bazaar. The rating is purely for the taste. The main stream veg foods, shacks and the chat items are really good.<br/><br/>My favourite would be plain Dosai and Pav Bhaji for evening shacks. Their filter coffee is also very good. Its a filling restaurant.<br/><br/>Service would be normal/decent just like the ambiance. If you are not too keep for an ambiance, you can definitely try this place.

My father took me to this place after we had done shopping around the area. He told me he loved this place as a child and the food is very good there. I was initially hesitant to go there as the place looked old and little tidy. But I must say the pav bhaji and thayir vada was really good (I had my first thaiyir vada here). The tiffin items are good, I mean it really has the South Indian style cuisine. Its worth a try whenever you are nearby.

Geetha cafe is an amazing restraunt to eat at. The staff and service is very good. The restraunt has an olden feel to it which I definitely liked. All their food is served very hot and is made fresh. They also have an A/C restraunt at the top. Typical Indian food is at its best here. Reasonably priced....haven't taste better food anywhere else.

The name board looks like it dates back to the hills. Suggest anyone to go to the A/C segment of Geetha cafe. Its a total different dark atmosphere up there after a tough day at T.nagar a good getaway. Food is good ! Try the coconut parathas.

Besttt place to end your starvation after those long hours of shopping!!! First about the ambience, they have kinda retained the good old look which gives a laid back feel. Had it been a little more cleaner it would have been very much better. Secondly, the waiters !!! They are extremely friendly and serve with lots of care. Almost all the waiters including the cashier are actually polite even at closing time on a Sunday. About the taste and quantity of food, I give a thumps up !! I had ordered sambar vadai, peas pulao, phulka and Gobi manchurian. They were all tasty especially the Gobi Manchurian, which was spicy and soooo goooodd :-) But sambar vadai was just above average :-/ and lastly coffee!! can't ask for more, simply amazing!!! Finally the cost, affordable and worth the money. Overall my rating would be<br/>Ambience- 3.5/5<br/>Service - 4.5/5<br/>Taste & quantity- 4/5<br/>Price- 4/5

A not so good ambience but good on taste for South Indian dishes. Have tried the idli, vada, dosas and meals. <br/>Also No parking facilities can be expected as the cafe lies right among the hustle bustle of T.Nagar. <br/>Good stopover restaurant for shoppers.

Seems to be one of the old restaurants in Chennai, Had been for breakfast and tasted Idli, Vada and Masala Dosa. The taste was good, however the ambience is not very good and have maintained the same old style without any renovation.

The best bajjis in Chennai. Always made fresh. Hence the order might take some time. Onion bajji. Raw banana bajji, bonda and keerai vadai are the specialities. I finish it off with a hot cup of strong filter coffee.
