Review Chennai Darbar Restaurant - Chennai (Madras)

Good quality food. Affordable price, nice ambience, good parking facility, decent hospitality. I booked my daughter's first birthday at this location. It was overall a nice experience. It even has a dine in restaurant which most of the chennaites are not aware of. Must try this place for tasty food at a reasonable price.

Great atmosphere, very good and quick service. Parking available with valet. Restaurant at 1st floor, lift available. Kids seat available. Mini hall for party or function available. Food taste is average. Darbar spl veg soup is good. Chicken lollipop is a must try. Briyani is plain less spicy suitable for kids. Briyani lovers avoid. Fish items are frozen better avoid. Egg kothu is average, gravy not served. Ambience is really good. One time try. Felt price is high.

The restaurant had a great ambiance. Felt relaxed. Gave a causal vibe. The waiter was attentive, fave us a helpful suggestions of what is available and what is good to eat. The food was appetizing and beautifully plated. Even thou I'm an omnivore but I especially loved d veg Manchurian. V ordered chicken BBQ, the taste was very good n juicy but it was hard a lil bit to eat. But I especially loved Darbar special falooda.

Traditional food in very nice and clean place. Out of the busy streets of Chennai. The restaurant is dedicated for eating in traditional way by hands but we’ve used spoons to enjoy our food. Big portions of food served on banana leafs instead of plates. If you need your waiter will add more of sauce or rice as you wish. Food was good so I’m happy to recommend the place for others.

The place is located in a road opp to kasi theatre.. One of the hidden gems.. The restuarant is big and had a nice ambience to attract ppl.. It is kids friendly they have high chair for kids so that they can enjoy food with their loved ones.. Food was too good and is budget friendly.. Especially darbar special nonveg platter

Good restaurant, ambience is too good, seems like star hotel with retro style. Their items also quite diff from normal Arab style prepration but really awesome and delicious...the service is very great, fast and hygiene, by ordering within 15-20 min they serving all the items you ordered. Prices are moderate. Really worthy place to hangout for lunch or dinner with family and friends. Good parking facilities.

Great place to have taste food & a chat with our friends. The tables are very well organized, so the disturbance between tables are minimal. I like their prawn biriyani & mutton biriyani the most. Next is wheat paratha. Prawn fry, chicken tandoori, Crispy lamb are must try. Chennai Durbar Special soup (forgot the actual name, since they too specify so) is the highlight and do not miss this during your visit. They have very good two-wheeler and four-wheeler parking lot. The restaurant is on the first floor and they have a party hall in 4th floor with around 150 capacity. The buffet the provide when you book for party hall will be very much above our expectations. Manager Karthi and Master Chef Karthi are so friendly and kind enough to make our dishes delicious. Enjoy your food and also functions in the party hall.

Visited over a weekend and was packed as usual. No wait time on seating for 6members. Ordered few starters which were mutton chops and tandoori chennai FULL. Later added πŸ¦€ lollipop. All starter were good with must try for Mutton Chops. Under mains, parotta is authentic compared to near by competitor restaurants. Falooda looked tempting but skip to be tried for another time. Service was on their 🐾 and very responsive. Ambience - 🌟🌟🌟⭐ Food - 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Service - 🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐ Value for 🫰 - 🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐ Visit again - Yes, and would recommend for value for money as have seen lot of bachelora and youngers visiting

It was a very nice experience. It is located in a Main place, they own a building consists of restaurant and party hall. I loved the hospitality and the ambience. So speaking about food, we ordered HOT& SOUR SOUP - Quality is fine and quantity is very good, CHICKEN LOLLIPOP (8 pieces) - Quality and Quantity is very good, GRILL (half) - Unique color and taste, MUTTON BIRYANI( raita, Brinjal gravy, kheer)- Quality is fine and quantity is worth for money(the kheer tasted very good), KING FALOODA- Quality and Quantity is very very good. Totally, they give food quantity worth of money. Best place to visit with friends and family, Highly recommended.✨( Pictures consist of only what I had initially).

Chennai Darbar is a casual dining restaurant with a bright, sophisticated dining room serving lip-smacking Chinese, Arabian, Mughlai, Biryani and Chettinad delicacies to its diners. Their outstanding menu of Indian, Indo-Chinese and Arabic with a touch of Indian influence in an upscale and cozy atmosphere. The aesthetically pleasing interiors of the restaurant create a certain warmth which is extremely inviting. The peaceful ambience of the place provides a very comfortable dining experience to its guests. The pocket-friendly menu of the place is quite extensive and offers dishes which cater to the varied likes and dislikes of its diners. Five-star feel, no star price!

We celebrated our baby's 1st birthday here on 25th Junly 2022. TheΒ banquet hallΒ was excellent with great lighting and the food was top notch. Everyone who was part of the func were happy abt the food. They have separate dining hall which looks so good. Buffet pricing was very reasonable considering the main location. Owner of the restaurant, Manager karthi and their staffs were cooperative and took good Cre of the guests..Highly recommended for bday party's πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ

Very good restaurant the ambiance is very good. Located opposite to kasi theatre. Food taste is very good can't complain about it and their service is good. Lemon chicken soup is must try one in this restaurant. The platters are good the darbar special platter is one the popular starters in this restaurant. Biriyani taste is average. Rest of the Chinese items are of good taste. The desserts, mocktails and juices are good. There is also a buffet option in the second floor but it is better to call and come for buffet because sometimes it is closed. The rest rooms and parking are also very decent.

Went to the Mini Hall. The hall can hold a very small crowd. But the Ambience was good, service was great and the food tasted excellent. Had enough parking space. Located in a prime location.

First time we are visiting this hotel for a birthday function. The ambience and infrastructure was good. Food is also good but we didn't have the chance to taste all the buffet menu due to overcrowding.

After a long time I didn't expect I would write a review about an restaurant that didn't suite us... We went for a dinner and there was ample space of car parking.<br/><br/>The entrance appearance is all good. However there are few mosquitoes inside... Oops these seasons they are every where....<br/><br/>First we ordered lemon and coriander chicken soup and same in veg too omg it's was spicy... A soup never need to be that much spicy and when we checked we were informed the lemon was too much and hence they added green chillies to soup... They told it can't be altered back.<br/><br/>Next we ordered BBQ half, it was really very dry and not good and then we ordered Briyani mutton and egg and yes it was good.<br/><br/>Parotta was nice and soft and gravy was spicy too...<br/><br/>With respect to the taste they have a lot to improve... U could try items like crab lollipop it's good.<br/><br/>We ordered golden fried prawn and it wasnt good, the prawn inside wasn't cooked well.....

I visited this restaurant twice. Had a great food experience both the times.<br/><br/>First time i ordered a chicken kothu parotta which was very tasty and of right quantity.<br/><br/>Second time i visited this place after night show when i went inside the restaurant the place wad amlost closed.but when i said i came althe way looking into Zomato as open the man un charge was very kind and asked us to sit and prepared us dinner. Again this time the was tasty as lasttime.<br/><br/>We ordered a biriyani and chicken fried rice.<br/>Both the dish was very toothsome

It was in my list for quite some time.. I was impressed with their interior and ambience. I went today with one of my friend who is in hotel Industry for more than 10 year's. We both surprised with the very good interiors and ambience. But food lack with the taste and presentation.<br/><br/>We ordered Fish Meals and Biriyani with a starter Chicken Chukka.<br/><br/>The way they served is very good and in time. Biriyani is ok in Mughal style with Gravey, Raitha and Brinjal curry. Taste good.<br/><br/>Fish curry is in Kerala style with little sweeter, but all the meal Curries are not up to mark.<br/><br/>Finally about the Chicken Chukka, it really spoiled our overall opinion of the restaurant. I never seen or tasted such a worst Chukka pieces, very big pieces just tossed with the masala and there is no difference between the chicken pieces in the Biriyani and the Chukka pieces. No masala taste, only the boiled chicken.<br/><br/>Overall I suggest the management to concentrate on the taste of all the food. Alll the best.

Been here for dinner party of my colleague. He was very choosy of this restaurant against our recommendation of Palmshore. The ambiance is good, taste is good but the service is very slow. They will test your patience to the core. Otherwise it’s good.

<br/>Dish: <br/><br/>1. Darbar special chicken platter : , a combination of tandoori, tikka, Reshmi, tangri And boiled egg. It's was delicious. <br/><br/>2. Darbar special chicken biryani: quiet a huge quantity for two girls to eat after such a good platter . It had chicken 65 and boiled egg and tasty biriyani served with Brinjal curry, onion raita and vermicelli payasam.<br/><br/>3. Apple juice: just like every where <br/><br/>4. 2 scoops of ice cream: vanilla and chocolate <br/><br/>Good taste, pleasant ambiance. <br/>Rate :4./5

From the office, for lunch, I suggested this place. I have been seeing this restaurant hiding at Ashok Nagar for a long time.<br/>None veg platter, crispy lamb, fried rice, parotta, veg meal, like soda...the lost how are on. The food is tasty, the ambiance is good and the price is less.<br/>Overall experience is good.<br/>Serving and table management is lagging behind.<br/>Will try next time before concluding my final impression.

Been there for dinner... A nice place with good ambience. The menu was very simple where I don't have much varieties to choose. Friendly staffs and worthfull service. We ordered for CREAM OF CHICKEN soup, CHICKEN BBQ, DURBAR SPECIAL CHICKEN BRIYANI and ROSE FALOODA. Quantity was valued for the money, but coming to QUALITY, the soup seems a bit older, the chicken bbq was not cooked to the perfection, the masalas were raw at some parts, taste of briyani was good and the rose falooda was up to the taste. Overall it bears a 4 star.. And I'll recommend the management to add some more dishes in the menu to satisfy the guests like me and concentrate little about the quality of the food.

We have booked their party hall for our son's first b'day.we been searching for good party hall with good food & finally we ended up here.<br/><br/>Pros:The food was really superb & everyone complimented that every dish in the buffet (veg & non veg) starting from soup, starter, main course & dessert are really(equally) good.especially their dill soup(veg soup with veggies tasted like non veg) & Chicken Briyani was wow!<br/><br/>Hall was really spacious could accommodate 150 theatre & 100+ floating crowd.<br/><br/>They got tieup with decorator & bakery.we end up with their decorator & besides small mistakes the decoration is really good.<br/><br/>Cons:Naan was little rough & they do refill nly after the dish is completely finished.has to be done at least at quarter level.<br/><br/>It's the best place to celebrate the occasion with memorable food!<br/><br/>Special thanks to Mr.karthikeyan & the chef(sorry forget the name).

ambience is average but food quality is pretty good as well as not much expensive. THE services and management is polite and very nice to us.

Visited this restaurant today. It is easy to spot it in the jafferkhanpet main road. Coming to the ambience of this restaurant it's is soo classy and luxurious. The staffs was also polite and the manager of the hotel was soo concerned about the taste of the food and customer satisfaction. We ordered a chicken lollypop, plain briyani, schezwan chicken fried rice.<br/><br/>Lollypop was soo crispy and tasty, they served 8 pices for 180rs which was soo reasonable. Only cons is that I got slightly raw nv taste while eating. So 3.5/5<br/>Schezwan chicken fried rice was spicy and tasty. But the quantity was not that satisfying. So 4/5<br/><br/>Finally coming to their briyani it is too rich with ghee and aroma of the briyani was too unique as well as tasty too. The quantity of the briyani will definitely satisfy two people and even more. So 4.5/5<br/><br/>Overall a yummy tummy experience at a very reasonable cost. Will definitely visit this restaurant again and recommend to other friends also.

This is our second visit to Chennai Darbar in Ashok Nagar<br/>We ordered tomato soup, Darbar special platter (server told us it will have 2 pieces) <br/>Soup tasted good, kebab platter tasted great <br/>It had Reshmi kebab, grill chicken, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, prawns, bbq fish, Afghani chicken to pompfret bbq<br/>Every dish tasted great no complains <br/>We ordered only one mutton biriyani for 3 of us as the special platter filled out stomach <br/>Biriyani had lot of pieces (completely worth for the price tag) and ended our food hunt with Falooda<br/>Overall a good place for your non veg feast<br/>Excellent customer service<br/>Polite staffs and restaurant and wash room areas looks absolutely clean <br/>

Ambience was good..service was also cool...some of the food varities can't be found as it's full of mainly favoured to sounth Indian dishes..taste was also fine...overall a satisfactory restaurant to visit.

When you're in Chennai, and when the weather outside is damp and rainy your soul can be bought in tandem with the outside world only through a healthy helping of some strong and flavorful Biryani. With Chennai being a powerhouse of Biryani, I decided to try out Chennai Darbar, which to its credit had some decent reviews on this platform. I went with the perpetual crowd puller , the Chicken Biryani and Chicken Chettinadu with some Naan.Β <br/>The first thing that strikes you is the fragrant aroma of the Biryani. Cardamom, cloves and cinnamon are added in a good measure, giving the Biryani a strong yet subtle taste and what I really enjoyed was the fact that the spices were not too overpowering. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the Basmati rice was in its true glory, fluffy and nice long grains. The cooking on the rice was flawless. With everything done right, you end up with a Biryani that is moist and fragrant and keeps you going for more. Very few places have this uncanny ability to pull off a classic dish like Biryani with a very simple albeit dexterous recipe. This Biryani is humble, and packed with really powerful flavors in the right amount.Β <br/><br/>Now with the palette being doused with the warmth and aroma of the spices and chicken of the Biryani, it was time to taste another classic, the ubiquitous Chicken Chettinadu, which is a dish known for the use of some heavy duty spices. If the Biryani was any indication as to how deft the chef's at Chennai Darbar are when it comes to handle spices, the Chettinadu Chicken shows their true spirit with a stamp of authority. In one word, the gravy is heavenly. Everything about the dish seems to be right, be it the thickness of the gravy, the spice level or the cooking of the chicken. The color of the gravy is this really intense and dark brown color, which is reminiscent of the heavy use of whole spices like cinnamon, clove and star anise perhaps. But let the intense color not fool you, as the dish looks very spicy, but it isnt. It was truly phenomenal to see a dish which was so heavy on these whole spices not being too spicy, I could taste all the spices the onions and the juiciness of the chicken in the gravy, and when paired with the Naan, you just dont need anything else for your tastebuds. This is one potent combination of spice and texture and as I said earlier the thickness of the gravy was spot on, the dish was'nt watered down so the spices were not diluted and nor was the gravy too thick to give an unpleasant mouthfeel.Β Post this meal, I was one satisfied person and the dishes were so very good that the taste kept lingering on me, and probably would even force me to order once again from this wonderful place!

Becoming popular. I have been here since their start, and i could see they maintain their standards always. Since its near home, have been with my family many times. Prawn Briyani , fish fingers are favourite. Food taste is good. Cost is same to other competitors. You can get only one chicken piece in a chicken briyani how much ever you are lucky in this kind of hotels. 😜 You can order a separate grill or tandoori variety and its good.<br/><br/>Saleem, in billing counter manages his best to serve the customers. Actually, a time when i got parcel of chicken briyani’s, disappointed as there wasn’t any flesh piece and it was all kuska’s. Even no eggs. Brought to his notice, he compensated all in his next service/parcel with extra’s. Yep, sometimes it happens. <br/><br/>On my niece’s birthday party, with all kutties, one of the child always prefer a dosa in cone shape. Though the service has not served a cone dosa, they however managed to serve one bringing a smile on the child’s face. Thank you for your service.

I order the chicken, mutton and prawn briyani. It was very tasty. I like the parcel of food. They packed the food nearly. I like the Chennai Darbar.

Visited Chennai Darbar with my family on September 27, 2018 without checking out the place reviews or by any suggestions.<br/><br/>FOOD<br/><br/>1. Taste - The food tastes good. They are good in preparing the regular Indian dishes and Chinese. Barbecues tasted bad. Fish dishes are good. 3/5<br/>2. Ingredients - The ingredients used tasted okay. 2/5<br/>3. Presentation - 2/5<br/>4. Quantity - They serve pretty good quantity for the money. If you are going for grilled, tandoori or barbecue chicken go for the full ones as they are only a 100 rupees difference. 4/5<br/>5. Variety - Only Indian dishes. 3/5<br/><br/>AMBIENCE<br/>1. Interiors - The colours used to decorate the place looks creepy.<br/>2. Parking - Available <br/><br/>Ideal for <br/>1. Groups <br/>2. Family<br/>3. Quick eats

Neat ambience, courteous staffs, awesome food...what else we need for after a tiring day. Afghan chicken is one to be mentioned, it's perfectly cooked n blended with aromatic masala. Their briyani quantity is much more to serve 2 adults. Special mention of their special falooda which was royal rich flavours of ice cream, nuts, fruits and jumbo sized. Will again visit their buffet option sometime.:)

Actually I visited this place for a friend's betrothal function but the function was going on for almost 4 hours and my stomach started tickling so i took my wife to the first floor to have lunch. Our order was Crab Lollipop, Mutton Biriyani and Prawn fried rice. Crab Lollipop was really good my wife enjoyed it, Mutton biryani was good with less irritants and the mutton pieces was soft and Prawn fried rice was also good. The damage was Rs.693/-

Its a delivery review<br/>Got their <br/>* Wheat parottas and normal ones-Both were neatly packed and the size of the parotta was well worth for the buck and tasted good and chewy.<br/>*Idly with fish curry-This combo was just out of the word...idly(3 pieces)was as they call kushboo ones..soft and fluffy and for 75 bucks was a total treat. The fish curry that came was awesome and that portion can accompany 5 more idlies 😍<br/>*Darbar fish curry-Was reluctant in getting this as side for Parottas but they complimented well and quantity was sumptuous<br/>Overall a 4 :)<br/><br/>24/6/18<br/>Early morning decided to get Pepper Chicken Gravy- It was good with the idly from home..<br/><br/>Bill amount of 570Rs-/-<br/><br/><br/>And a dine in review is to come soon!

Very Yummy and Taste...I recommend Chennai Dabar to all my dear foodieee

The ambience is the only best feature about this restaurant, located at a prime location the restaurant fails to provide good starters , either the meat is not cleaned properly or the cooked meat is not through, coming to the main course I ordered their special briyani and Kal dosa , the dosa was good with the accompaniment of fish curry which is basically the curry minus the fish, special briyani is nothing but chicken 65 briyani and the meat was not the properly cooked yet the rice tasted okish , I ended the meal with their special falooda which was decent. Now the main part pricing for a meal which is not that good every dish is slightly over priced. I wouldn't recommend this place to my friends mainly for the way the meat was cooked.

Checked in for Sunday lunch from office as its very nearby!!<br/><br/>The ambience was really very pleasant n feel good once enter into the restaurant!!<br/><br/>We ordered half chicken tandoori, mutton sukka for starters!!<br/>Was really happy wen I had my bite of chicken tandoori, it has very tasty wen compared to all d tandooriz I had out!! It had d lil more flavor of lemon n spices.. It was really good!! The flavor can b felt from any piece n from any part of the piece u bite!!<br/><br/>Mutton sukka was not that great but yeah it had its own taste, which I didn't like much!! It wasn't dry n it was bit soggy!!<br/><br/>Then we order prawn biriyani and mutton biriyani.. Both tasted good.. Properly cooked with flavors..<br/>Mutton pieces were soft n juicy.. Prawns were cooked good, not making them chewy...<br/><br/>Then finally ended with my fav.. Falooda.. We ordered 3 miniz... No complaints here tooo.. It was awesome!!<br/><br/>Had a very nice tummy filling lunch!! Happiee lunching :-) :-)

Food - 3.5 / 5<br/><br/>Food is not bad and not that much lip smacking. I had a take away biriyani is good so as their thali. On comparison thali wins. I didn't try any breads will add it in next review. There is also buffet for the team.<br/><br/>Ambience - 4.5 / 5<br/><br/>The ambience is pretty much exotic and I loved.. Not a dull or a bight and also no the usual yellow barn lighting. It was different and good.<br/><br/>Best time - lunch<br/>Best with - family<br/>

We have visited this place for afternoon lunch...<br/>Ordered mutton meals and special 65 ( suggested by waiter ).. meals were served hot and in time..<br/>They serve basmati rice for meals.. we felt different in taste.. ( not a usual meal..)<br/>infact the special 65 was so good and felt lemon flavored ( spicyy ))..<br/>The meals was good (( especially veggies were super wen compared to non veg curries ))<br/>the only disappointment is their chicken and mutton gravies.. ( tasted more sweet and less spicy))..<br/>Other than that all were good...<br/><br/>Ambience = 5<br/><br/>Food = 4<br/><br/>Service = 5<br/><br/>Value for money = 4

me and my wife went for the first time. no doubt that the ambience was exactly as the name goes. excellent ambience and cleanliness. but when we come to food the nonveg portion was very gud. we ordered all Darbar spl food. sply the egg curry was top notch. the veg meals was a so disappointing. first thing is they served basmati rice for meals... second all food were extremely cold and even the first Portion the rice was cold. (we were the first to enter the hotel for lunch around 12.30). all the menu was very less in quantity for a foodie like me. considering all these the bill was quite high as well<br/>but we can try once.

A Good Sunday night dinner that justified Quality and Quantity for the price. The service was good, Ambience was really good.<br/><br/>A good choice if you wanna have a decent time with your family or friends accompained by good food.

This is a restaurant which popped up in my neighborhood about a year but somehow never visited all this time. It's the usual food South Indian biryani and the chettinad and chinese starters but nothing unique.<br/><br/>The starters:<br/>Crab lollipop- was awesomeMutton fry- the same old you can find everywhere.<br/>Fish manchurian: A total let down, it was not fresh and tasted weird.<br/><br/>Main Course:Β <br/>Mutton Biryani: Huge quantity but lacked flavor.Β <br/>Szechuan Mixed Fried Rice- Good<br/>Chicken Noodle- Good.<br/><br/>P.S: Never order the fish, either in starters or in biryani its not worth it.

Excellent ambience and good quality food.. Best place for Budget Lunch / Dinner. I would have given 5 star if we had more variety in Veg dishes and especially in deserrt. missing Gulab Jamun / Shahi Tukra / Kheer / Halwa

Chennai Darbar~<br/>The ambience here is great.<br/>For the starters, had Gobi 65,which was good.Ordered panner butter masala, which i felt something was missing and couldn’t able to get the real taste.<br/>Also the milkshakes was not satisfying and have to be improved.<br/>Overall I felt the taste of food have to be improved.<br/>The service is really quick and Staffs are polite.

One of the best places to go for a party treat with ur friends. Ambience , service , food quality , time everything was great and eye-catching . Pocket friendly , I would suggest not to look the 5 star looks of Chennai darbaar and ignore for a choice go and take ur chance for having a retreat . Mutton murthoba was the best . Also if it's a bday treat pre call them and tell for a cake , yes a bread cake obvious but the bday guy won't get disheartened !

Great place.<br/>Friendly & courteous staff.<br/>Food was good. <br/>Let down was the management. <br/>A/C were turned off, had to ask the team to switch it on. after half an hour it was again switched off.<br/> I understand the restaurant was barely full. But I come in to have my food to enjoy the ambiance too. If you are saving costs why don't you fix some fans.<br/>Think about it.<br/>
