The experience was delightful. The mini meals were not only delicious but also offered a great variety of flavors. Each component, from the main dish to the sides, was well-prepared and seasoned perfectly. The portion size was just right, and the presentation was appealing. The restaurant's ambiance was pleasant, and the service was prompt. Overall, I had a satisfying dining experience and would recommend trying their mini meals.

This was the hotel which reminds me my childhood memories. My mom always used to bring me to this hotel and order me special masala dosai which are favorites for 90s kids. It's a Udupi based hotel and the sambar and chutney are the typical one which we get for idly's and dosa's. The service is always been good and coffee with typical Udupi veg restaurant taste. Even though I must have rated this hotel 5/5 for their taste I have given 4/5 only because for their rates. This is one of the first hotel those days which increased the prices to double, triple. Since I reside in the same area and I remember after eating masala dosa my mom just paid 30 rs. Then it came 40 then 50, and 60 then transformed to 80 and 100 rs in a very short span of period. Now I think it's 120 or 130 they are charging for special masala dosai but not sure as I now a days not visiting this hotel frequently

Still the best affordable hotel in Nungambakkam. Eating there for the past 30 years. Amazing tiffin items and good filter coffee.

One of the good Vegitarian restaurants in the Nungambakkam area. It's a packet friendly hotel. Delicious South Indian and North Indian varieties are available at reasonable prices. The fresh juice section serves tasty fresh juices, milk shakes, and fruit salad. The sweets and savouries section serves varieties of sweets like Mysore bha, Laddu, etc.

Good old vegetarian hotel. The rates or on a higher side. The increase the and at the same time reduce the quality or quantity of the food. For example the offered coconut chutney, onion chutney, tomoto chutney, sambar, துவையல் and milakairpodi with oil. Now the. Increased the rate and reduced the side dish to sambar and chutney. Earlier they did service in their business. Now the do business without bothering the customer.

I have been eating here since the 1980s as a student. The place is a simple vegetarian restaurant which serves all the popular dishes from Tamil Nadu. They are famous for their sambar Vadai, idlies, dosas, Rava dosas, Pongal and Upma. They also serve South Indian meals in the 1st floor. The Sambar served here is excellent. The place is very straightforward simple place designed to serve its continuous patrons quick meals and exit soon. Most of the customers don't stay here for more than half and hour. Surely one of my top 10 vegetarian restaurants in Chennai just because of the taste and quality of the food.

Ordered 2 mini meals & a limited meal on a Sunday. The restaurant by mistake did not send one of the mini meals for delivery. I asked them to send it again and the same zomato executive went back to the restaurant and got my misplaced item. Thank you Zomato for your kind service and thank a lot to the delivery sir Afzal khan.
Went here for a quick snack and ordered sambar idly and idiyappam. Sambar was good. Idiyappam was thick yet soft. The falooda milkshake was like a kulfi shake with nuts n tuti frooti. Overall an average experience

Service is good and standard items taste is ok. I normally go for parcel service here and my experience has been quite good. Dine in May not be suitable considering non AC set up and highway hotel arrangements of tables and chairs. For a simple traditional southern type foods this seems like a conparitively better option...

Perfect place to have morning breakfast and evening tiffin.. their mini tiffin are worth having it.. idly, masala dosa, poori, kichidi, sambar vadai, sweet and perfect coffee to end.. best ever South Indian items in a single plate..

This review is only for Lunch.

This Hotel situated near Pathala Ponnniamman Koil, I went for Lunch after I had tried in their Purasaiwakkam branch, and Nungambakkam Branch several times, so decided to try the taste in their Kilpauk Branch. Ordered for a Limited Meals and a Special Meals which costs Rs.80/- and Rs.125/- respectively.

Meals, was served with Rice, Sambar, Rasam, Kootu (Keerai), Poriyal (vazhakkai), Appalam, Pickle and Sweet (Gulab Jamun), where as the Special meals was served with a Tomato Soup, Chappati, Gobi Manjurian, Channa masala, verity rice and Ice Cream , the rest of the items were the same which is served in limited meals and the rice is unlimited in this.

Food taste was below average.

Location - 3.5/5.0; ; Ambience - 2.5/5.0; Food - 2.0/5.0; Service - 2.5/5.0; VFM - 2.0/5.0

Worst restaurant I have seen. I ordered for 350 , which is the minimum order. They cancelled on their own. Never use it for online order. I have had the worst experience in this.

No air conditioning is a let down. You can't visit this place for ambiance.

Food is good. Specially the Chappatis and Curries.

The Thali is good as well with the right amount of everything. it sure is filling.

Worth a try, if in a hurry and want to finish a meal in a giffy.

The service is decent. Food presentation in plate was good. Ambience is simple and bright.

Food was a disappointment, didn't find any taste in sambhar or rasam. Even sweet dish was pretty plain.

Mom and I landed here for an early dinner one day after a bad experience at the most famous Bhavan chain (previous review).

At about 7:30, the place was partly full. Clean, bright set up with regular tables and chairs. Our orders were taken quickly. Service was very good, which more than made up for the average tasting food. And on that day I realised that good, attentive service is what makes the best impression.

We got onion rava masala dosa, chola poori and spl falooda. The dosa batter wasn't fully fermented and so it tasted just ok. The Choley masala was again average only. Chutneys and sambar were very tasty.

Falooda was served in a really tall, narrow glass which made it difficult to scoop ice cream and fruits out. But it tasted really good with a good amount of nuts, fruits, Sabja seeds and ice cream.

Service is quick, dining area is clean, food is reasonably priced and there s parking for about 3-4 cars in front. A winning formula and safe bet for good veg good in that area.

Good food... Meals is tasty and the place is good as that one compared to the purasawalkam branch... The dal served in the meals is just awesome... Worth a try !!
Rates are also reasonable !!

Hotel Raaj Bhavan is a very decent vegetarian restaurant, both in terms of its ambience, hygiene , spacey dining and the look as well as the taste, quality and quantity of the food they serve.

I am always intrigued by this concept of mini tiffin. In my opinion , ideally the mini tiffin should be composed of items which should give a sneak peek into the best of their menu. Next time based on the items that gave best impression one would pick the menu in a more conventional avatar of it.

Anyhow, coming to Raaj Bhavan's mini tiffin, it consisted of mini sambar idlies, kid size masala dosa, pongal, sambar vada, kesari, coconut and kaara chutney, sambar and a mini coffee. As a whole, the mini tiffin was very comprehensive, more than filling you tummy, and great value for your money.

Coming onto the individual dishes, mini sambar idlies were fine. I would have expected a more softer and less grainer version of the idlies but the ones presented were just fine. They seamlessly got soaked in the sambar and just melted their way into the pharynx nicely.

Pongal was however below average. It was a bit dry to my liking and taste was also bland. I would have liked more flavour of the jeeragam, ginger, pepper and other condiments in it.

The masala dosa was good. Sambar vada was outstanding. Kesari wonderful. Filter coffee was terrific. Sambar was nice, more of udipi style than tamil style. Coconut chutney was so fresh, and so tasty.

On the whole, I should say I was satisfied with their mini tiffin and certainly will return to this place to try out bugger platter of their mini sambar idlies, idly sambar, Poori and meals. The service was good, friendly and the server made sure that the sambar was refilled as and when required and also each and every item of the menu was not missed. Great value for money this place is.

Was here for dinner yesterday. Had a plate of idly and plain dosa. Idly was soft and the sambar was decent, but the chutney's are not that great. Seems coconut chutney was straight from fridge.

Local Chennai food - set parotta with kurma, mini meals, idli-dosa place. I absolutely love the parotta-kurma even though it's the worst things for anyone on a diet. Do not expect any ambience.
Rajath Bysani
Just bad. At least don't order dosa. The Sambhar sucks, chutney is tasteless. Food at my college mess is tastier. I don't want to talk about how bad my college food is.

Have been to this place a couple of times although always had a take away. The food is OK not great not bad and the proportion are just about enough.

This is one of the well reputed restaurant in the locality. The place is best for their morning breakfast. Most of their rice items are okay-ish and are over priced.

The service if this place is just horrible. You'd be lucky if someone comes to you for taking orders within 10 min on your arrival. The waiters are always in a Hurry and have too much attitude. They act as if they give us free food.

In short: over priced food, bad service and moody waiters
Worst service.. We waited for half an hour to have a waiter take our order.. He didn't listen to the whole list we gave.. Poor food quality as well.. They are least bothered about customer satisfaction..

Raaj Bhaavan serves multi cuisine food, and specialises in south Indian. We like the morning breakfast here and it is almost a two to three times a week that we must get parcels from here. We have the close to home advantage for this one. Although we have a Murugan idli shop at the same distance, this one is a winner. Parking space is available for 3-4 cars, after that even the parking attendant fellow gives up. Service staff is average and will do their duty, anything additional you expect of them will either be incomplete, or be done with a scornful look. Special mention : their red chutney is very tasty.

This South Indian restaurant serves the usual Idli , Dosai , poori , Vadai etc . The food here especially the Idli with the tasty sambar most times is good . When the sambar is done good with it's usual level of consistency the other main food dishes taste fab . The pricing is not 2 high & the food can be eaten in this place on a regular basis provided the consistency of quality is met . Not a great place to dine with the ambience set up , but the food can be parcelled & eaten at home with each person's individual taste & heating of food . Overall the place can be visited by family & will be better if the ambience can be given a facelift & will suggest to improve business the interiors should be done at least like a three star hotel restaurant .

Though i'd been a regular visitor to Raaj Bhavaan assuming it to be a quality food, this bad experience would never let me return back to the restaurant. Ordered for a Masala Dosa & they gave Masala which was spoiled & had foul smell, on calling the waiter they gave a poor response & later argued it was fresh...... i asked them to pack the food & threatened to take it to respective authorities, another gentleman stepped in to taste & accepted it had foul smell.

I personally go to this place for it's idly's. The service is sort of efficient. The reluctance of the waiters to give me more sambar pissed me off. Two real small servicing for three idlys is not enough, unless u like it dry. Apart from that the place is easy on the pockets and hygienic.

The Best South Indian 'Tiffin' dishes in the city, Period. Highly recommended.
Shivashish Tarkas
Classic food undoubtedly . You could taste the actual sambhar of madras . Meals is the highlight . I wouldn't recommend this hotel for fast foods or tandoor .deal only with South Indian dishes ! Ignore rest pls .
