Review Hotel Pandia's Restaurant - Chennai (Madras)

Today I tasted 1.mutton biryani - taste good but can't even finish half portion because too heavy biryani. 2. Mutton sukka - very good 3. Mutton brain roast- very good 4. Pandias chicken fry- very good. Service also good. Biryani should reduce the masala or oil ..it's very heavy. Pls consider..

My first time here, I opted for Veg meals , service was late and gave not so hot meals... Curries tasted good and overall the ambience was fine...they could improve service which is lacking ... My colleagues tried our their chicken biryani and said it was delicious... Pricing is above reasonable... This place is just beside Forum mall and metro @vadapalani.

The ambiance is good. And the taste 😋 I just loved what I ordered. I really had a great meal here the only reason for the four stars is those staffs. They don't allow you to eat peacefully. When I went there, each of the staffs were shouting at another and was taking selfies. People can do whatever they want but I don't think so people can behave like that in their work place.

The food taste is good and they served fast and the quantity of food is enough for a person and price is bit costlier and the service they provided is good and the food quality is good and the ambience is clean and pleasent

When it comes to authentic South Indian dishes no one can beat Pandia's. We ordered Kari dosai and chicken pagoda. Kari dosai was one of the best I tasted in recent times. The portion size was good. The proportion of meat was also great. When I ordered chicken pagoda I expected a chicken 65 look alike. But they surprised me with their authentic looking chicken pagoda. The meat ratio in pagoda was also pretty decent. Overall, a happy tummy experience.

They newly renovated,When it comes to South Indian dishes no one can beat Pandia's. We ordered kizhi parota and prawn chilly gravy. Mutton biryani was one of the best I tasted in recent times. The portion size was good. The proportion of meat was also great. Very good ambiance. Good service 🥳😇

All the foods were really good and price were apt for the quality. Schezwan noodles top notch if they increase the quantity a little bit it would be 9.5/10.

The newly renovated place is bright and clean. The food specially the biryani is good. There biryani is different from the other biryani. It has a suttle and nice flavour but nothing overpowering. The parota and natukoli gravy was good. Food prices is decent. Quantity of gravy, fried rice and Chinese items are small could be improvement in this. Overall a pleasant experience.

Usually we order mutton Briyani, naatukozi Briyani, mutton chukka, Kudal fry, double omelette, brain fry, parotta with fat white gravy cocunut based is a must try. You will not be disappointed here. Definitely one of the best biriyanis I ever had. The meat was tender and juicy. The grills were cooked to perfection. The other dishes were also really good. If you are a fan of tangy and spicy hot biriyani, maybe this place is not for you. <br/><br/>The SERVICE was quick and the food was served on a banana leaf, which I loved. The staff were courteous and served with a smile. <br/><br/>The AMBIANCE was nothing special, nothing to complain about. The tables and washbasins were clean and hygienic. The COST is somewhere between the average and above average side and is fully justified for the quality of food served. I don't know what type of Biryani I had here, it's not a Biryani that's commonly found in Chennai, but I liked it. If anyone knows, please do tell me, I'm curious.<br/><br/>The FOOD was hot and delicious. The Salan and raitha were amazing. The meat was tender and juicy. The skin however, I could do without. It was rather chewy. Overall, the Biryani was good, others might have different opinions this.<br/><br/>The SERVICE was fine. Food in this restaurant is served in banana leaves, which I enjoy. The food was served on time, the servers were courteous, kind and served with a smile. Nothing special, nothing to complain about.<br/><br/>The AMBIENCE is average, but I assume that's not what the place is known for. In general, the place is clean and hygienic, the washrooms are also clean, the food is not expensive and it's not very hard to find.<br/><br/>Go to this place for a different type of Biryani, to me it's different, so if you know more about this style of preparation or it's history, please let me know.

Ordered chicken kothu paratha. Was good, but could have been better. Felt a bit over priced for what was served. Staff is good and coorporative though.

Actually we went for dinner, ambience is good and they provide a menu card and first we ordered prawn briyani was so tasty and simply awesome and then the final dish was that mixed kothu parotta is so yummy in that dish mixed Paratta contains chicken, egg, prawn slightly mutton and fish pieces along with that salna is given is good

The best chettinadu food we ever had. It was so authentic and fresh. Naan’s were soft too. Will surely order again when I am back. Go for it!

This is a must try restaurant. Especially the Biriyani. I had mutton Biriyani and it was totally different taste when compared to thalapakatti, Ambur and chettinad style. I don't know whether everyone will like this style. I like it.

worst experience. no one attends your table. and when they it takes ages to bring the fishes to the table. we ordered fish finger and they didnt give mayonese, ordered meals but they didnt give kootu poriyal, biriyani was served without raitha. we even had to wait 20 mins for someone to provide us water.. pathetic to the core.

Wanted to go to this place for such a long time, finally made it.<br/>They serve both veg n non veg, whereas non veg holds the upper hand, menu has quite a long varieties of non veg items.<br/>We tried the below items,<br/>Non veg: Liver fry- excellent , Rabbit 65- very good, nalli kolambu-awesome, chicken curry dosa - very good , poricha parota-awesome , veechu parota-good, kalakki - awesome 😍<br/>Veg: paneer 65-average , mushroom dry-average , kal dosa- average<br/><br/>All non veg items were so good and with lip-smacking taste, meat was cooked so well it was juicy n soft, they don't serve any basic gravy for breads n dosa that is the disadvantage n drawback I felt. Over all good worth the money we spent. Prices are very nominal and economic only.<br/>

I went to dine on a sunday at 3pm. As i was looking into the menu card the guy who was taking the order from everyone took the menu card without even asking me which pissed me off at the first. The floors were dirty and don't know when they mopped it last. Except for the biriyani everything else for bad. Really didn't expect this at all. Heard very good reviews about this place. This is my first and last visit to this place.

Cravings for Biryani have to be quenched at the earliest, and you just can't go past an biryani craving, so given my craving for a good biryani and in my quest for trying on new places, I singled out Pandia's which seemed to offer a decent spread. And before I begin, I must say that their home delivery service is rather prompt, given the fact that biryani is'nt the quickest of delicacies to prepare. <br/><br/>I went for the mutton biryani which I felt could've been a lot better, and the meat for me was too gelatinous and was devoid of a firm texture which is so important in a good biryani, so you end up with a mushy piece of mutton which is not tender but overcooked which spoils the entire mouthfeel of the biryani, in fact one issue that keeps relapsing in both the biryani be it the chicken or mutton biryani, is the lack of spice/spices in the biryani, for me it is the aroma and scent of the spices that make up a great biryani, but here that heat from the spices is completely missing and hence the flavours are rather muted, some might even argue that it is not a biryani, but just some meat and rice cooked together in a hushed and hurried manner. The rice was cooked perfectly and that perhaps was the only shining light in an otherwise lackluster display of culinary skills. The salna/gravy to go along with the biryani is'nt something to rave about, any good biryani is in reference to the gravy that goes along with it, and here it is'nt praiseworthy, ofcourse the gravy is good in its own right, but the gravy is a bit too thick for my liking and once again the perpetual issue of a lack of spice persists in this case as well, inspite of it being a decent gravy, it doesn't really complement either of the biryani be it the chicken or the mutton. <br/><br/>Given all the initial disappointments, the grilled chicken came in as a pleasant surprise, and I must say it is really good. The best part about the grilled chicken is the fact that it the chicken was'nt bombarded with too many unnecessary flavours. As they say in culinary parlance less is more, this grilled chicken suffices that belief. The predominant flavour is the flavour of the grill/charcoal giving a smoky mouthfeel and the chicken is cooked perfectly, and the chicken just oozes out with its natural juices. <br/><br/>Should you try or not try this place? Well that boils down to how you like your biryani, and for the classic biryani lover, this place could well be ignored, however the grilled chicken is very good and highly recommended and the pricing too isnt on the lighter side (in context of the quality of food served here), so it really pays to just ignore this place and you could find much better places for Biryani in Chennai

Kola Urundai(balls) , Mutton biriyani were excellent ,although rice was a bit mashed up like potato Mash.  The kola balls were bigger in size compared the ones served in others restaurants (eg, Dindigal Thalapakatti). The service was below satisfying during sat, sun afternoon, servers will divert you to order things that are easy to cook during rush hours. People with family are given priority than bachelors.

My last experience at their Royapuram outlet was not extraordinary, in spite of that, decided to check out this branch purely out of nostalgia!

I ordered for an egg biriyani and there was no raita for biriyani which is absolutely a blunder. I don't want to comment on the taste as I have been eating their biriyani since 15 years. Had to filter out half litre oil from the prawn masala which is again a bad thing. Please concentrate on making it better.

We ordered Non Veg Meals for two., but the rice was enough for three people. Their mutton kulambu was heavenly. So was Meen kulambu. Last but not least the rasam was just apt. Thumbs up to the cooking team for preparing such a meal. Thank you for such delicious food.
