Review Fishbone - Chennai (Madras)

Cibhi Chakravarthy
A genuine homely food place ! Their taste is good and their no added flavours policy is welcoming. Their cuisine is traditional with some inovative dishes . We had calamari rings , Gillis chicken Briyani with chicken 65 and a chicken curry dosa. We weren’t disappointed! Their dishes are of descent quality and quantity. This place has a good parking facility 👍🏻✌️

As the name goes...fish is the speciality here and doesnot disappoint seafood lovers at all.Gilly biriyani and potti biriyani though a bit more spicy is upto the mark. Good service but minimal ambience. Ding dong from the dessert section is worth a try if you want something different
Pon Kannan
you guys really should try gilly biriyani if you r truly a spicy lover.... and the fish they serve here are awesome especially those emperor fish and squid.. Just Give it a try.... you wont regret it

Friends, if you want to eat fish or selected sea food items, then this is the place. I visited the restaurant with my relatives 28th Nov-19. Table arrangements and place looks so good. Food Service was wonderful. A bit faster than other hotels too, but could be due to the timing also.. Mild pleasent music BG. Dishes were awesome. I can't tell which was delicious and was my favourite. I could say Carb soup was hot and too much spicy, it stimulated my hunger much more. All items had a reasonable price after you taste them you will find it. Do mention them not to use aginomoto during cooking.

Tried here by online orders. Chicken spl Gilli biryani -- Though it looks like a bisibelabath taste is very good & spicy.. Mutton potti biriyani -- The package was too good..Taste is ok only..

We did not expect much while we entered this restaurant! Everything we ordered was exceptional, from prawn biriyani to crab soup and special fish curry to mutton idiyappam, even mutton soup, kal dosa and chapattis. Ambience was simple but appealing, service and preparation was quick. Must try place for Non-Vegetarians!!

Fish Bone was a new restaurant when I had discovered it in 2018. Specifically made for sea food as the name suggests. Pretty affordable too. Ghilli Biryani is just too Good!

Fish bone is a amazing place to visit and the food was really good especially gilli biryani taste was different they are using home made masalas
I love it ☺
Vinodh David
The fish was really fresh but everything was really spicy for my taste buds. If you are looking to try sea food try them for sure but make sure you can handle enough spice.
Vijay Menon
Not sure if this was because the restaurant is called the fish bone, but the chicken curry literally tasted like a fish curry with chicken pieces.but I liked it tho. Vegetarian dishes thankfully do not have that fish taste. All together everything was very fishy.

The food was very good and delicious. If you need home made kinda food this is right place for that . It's best place for family hangout . Good luck fish bone team.

Dined at fish bone & ordered the Ocean Platter - consisted of Fish , Calamari, Crab & Prawns. The sea food was nicely marinated & was quite spicy (I love spicy food, so this worked well with me). The meat tasted fresh, too and that is a big thumbs up.

I'd rate the place 3.2 cos I didn't think it was as hygienic - glasses, plates weren't as clean. They don't have a restroom, just a small wash basin.

But if I'm looking for some home made sea food meal for a reasonable price, I'd go there again.

Poor response:
I ordered non veg special meals...they provided only normal meals...they charged me 260 RS..but normal meals only cost 135.

When I made call they replied irresponsibly. First they told that workers are absent so we could not cook all items

Then they replied the order was normal non veg meals not special one.but they billed as special meals .. I have the bill till now..

Cheaters , poor service , poor mangement ...without a single piece of non veg I paid 260 for mere boiled rice and kolambu...
I had the Chicken Gilli Biryani. It's was wet type Biryani, because it's tossed in gravy. Taste was good and quantity and chicken piece was enough. Service was also really good. Will check other items next time.

Being a sea food lover, really exited to taste their dishes. Ordered Fist potti biriyani, delivered in a small potti made up of palm tree leaves which is different from other shops who pack with plastic containers, good job for that.

Now Look & Taste:

It's actually by the look I felt uuh Its biriyani or sambar rice!!! But after I started tasting it's a kind of biriyani with rice got more cooked to make the feel of it to differentiate from a regular biriyani which separates the rice without sticking to each other. I liked the taste initially and when it's get eating more and more the spicy started working on it and it's time to stop it.

Fish biriyani is always not a good one to try it when u want the fish to flavour all over the biriyani, mutton and chicken have that in nature to extract the juice and add it to the rice. The Fish piece is well cooked to perfections and loved it. But Fish Biriyani?? No..

To be frank I won't order this again, instead will try their other dishes.

Best place for seafood lovers😍!!!!there products are really fresh n de staffs are really friendly...... our orders were:
1. Chicken uppu kari- Wowwwwwww😋😘!!!!!simply de best ever!!!!!the chicken was soooooo tender n simply falls off the bone😻!!!!!juz one small consideration is that the quantity was very less.
2. Vanjaram fish fry- We asked for catch of the day but it was not available that day.....so they told us vanjaram costs 270 but for Today its 175 .....so we ordered 2 ..... The fish came it was sooooooo aromatic n magical🤩.....but it was really toooo thin.....I have eaten here before n it used to be thick.... it's like they have cut a single fish into 2 halves 😏
3. Mutton gilli biriyani (STAR OF THE DAY)- This is my ever fav dish in this restaurant......so spicy n makes u salavate for more n more!!!!! wUd recommend this to all do try it 🤤!!!!as my frnd was hungry we ordered a once more😜
4. Prawn bajji- well my frnd was hungry so juz wanted to try this....not upto the mark....we expect so much but much of a disappointment like ordinary plantain bajji-😐
5. Prawn Botti biriyani-this was okay.....but not upto the gilli biriyani taste....
6. Chicken fried rice- this was the dish that made us down......while we were ordering the waiter told it wud take a hour rather u cud switch it to biriyani....but my frnd doesn't like biriyani so we told k then cancel it....he was like if it gets ready we'll give it....n we agreed....but when it came it was kinda wet ....my frnd immediately found that it was reheated....nVr expected this from them.... really disappointed....

Price- (3/5) gilli biriyani is totally worth the price but the starters are quite costly......

A dream restaurant for an avid seafood lover tbh they make tasty, fresh food and charge them at cheapest prices! The dream combo.

So we ordered
1. Spl. Gilli biryani - tasted like magic! Loved every bit of it.
2. Onion and lemon calamari rings - fresh tasty and was not rubbery at all they nailed the right consistency.
3. Vanjaram fry - this was a special for the day and was yummy as well.

The staff were friendly, the food was phenomenal and i would not think twice to visit this place again!

Great food combined with good hospitality. The taste blends with right combination of good and fresh ingredients. Awesome hangout for non-vegetarian lovers especially sea food with many varieties. The waiters are on their toes and food served within short spam without much waiting time.

As the name says FISH BONE has all sea food verities and verity of sea food thali meals. Kadal virundhu - which I tasted and it will fill your stomach and your craving for sea food. (They also have chicken and mutton served so that we can always enjoy our meal without missing any non-veg taste).

I am sure to visit this place again and would recommend to all non-veg lovers. One more thing, they also serve veg so veg's can also enjoy the meal.

Fish bone - You guys are doing a great job...

Suggestion : It would be better if you guys can add a few more dishes in "Today Special" ( this is one more surprise from Fish bone as a treat to our taste buds)

Sea food special restaurant! Daily one type of sea food is special here located near annanagar, nice ambience and great service....Ghilli biryani is famous here one can definitely try this food( not serving in basumathi rice) but it's good...my favourites will be non-veg meals, ghilli biriyani and prawn varuval;-) like to see more dishes in the future (also this restaurant is owned by friend) :-)

Our order was Ocean Platter (half portion) ₹345.00, Prawn Potti Biryani ₹235.00, Sri Lankan Kottu Roti fish ₹210.00 and ended with Walnut Souffle ₹175.00.
1.Ocean Platter - Prawn podi varuval which had some 7-8 prawns cooked to the perfection and tasted wonderful with loads of garlic but was bit spicy, Squid varuval was okay and it was bit rubbery, Fish 65 tasted good and crab 🦀 was cooked perfectly and tasted good.
2. Prawn Potti Biryani made with seeraga samba rice tasted differently, I enjoyed each and every bite of it.
3. Sri Lankan Kottu Roti fish a regular Kottu parotta with fish was okay could've been better finally ended with Walnut Souffle tasted like mixed nuts milkshake.

Platter is really value for the money 💰.

Perfect place for dinner.I enjoyed eating the 'fish of the day'.I have never seen the type of fish they served before in any other restaurant who normally serve pomfret and seer fish.
I have been there few times now. and every time I would order the fish of the day :-).Other than that the biryani is great there...I recommend this place for everyone who want to enjoy new variety of food...Happy Eating :-)

It is a small decent place with ambience and value for money. They have enough options in the menu for both veg and non veg lovers. We tried only the fish portion of the menu. They taste was good, spicy but. Some options were very spice, may be due to its routes from Andhra. I guess for that price they served good quality and quantity.

We took non veg meals and ordered all possible side dishes in fish. It did not fail us.

What could have improved is the service. Poor chaps looks new to the industry and they’ll push you with their choices constantly- may be with what’s available at large.

Overall, it’s a decent place to try.

A best place to try the full flavor of the seafood . Taste is excellent, could have been themed better , Dessert are not available much.but, a best place to hangout with your friends..!

Gilli gosht biryani was yum ! Also, the fish of the day needs a special mention ! A must visit for non veg lovers. Response to customers was really good.

A good place to eat fish !! For the food taste it is a bit expensive. For good sea foods you can visit the location just opposite to Kandasamy college.

Very rich and delicious food ! Fresh flavour ! Easy on the budget and tummy ! If in Chennai u should never miss tasting this ! Amazing speed and courteous staff ! It’s my fifth time this month already .

I have visited this restaurant several times and each time there is improvisation, they have also reduced the rates of the menu, hopefully day by day this place is getting reformed, there are more positive reviews about gilli biriyani but personally I’m a big fan of potti biriyani. I would strongly recommend this place..
Preethi Dixit
I visited the place as it was new to Anna Nagar without any expectation. But it was pleasant surprise when food was very tasty 😋
If you wanna try different variety and authentic Andra style cuisine then it’s a must visit. When I compare the near by any popular restaurant like Junior kuppana, I would strongly recommend Fish bone. They serve a biriyani which is called “potti biriyani”it was yum and must try Biriyani in Chennai. Cost is comparatively similar to nearby any popular restaurants. It’s worth for money when your tummy is filled with mouth watering dishes😃
Finally ding dong if you are fond of bread sweets then again it’s a must try.

This place is amazing! Trust me if u love sea food this is your place. Specially the kadal virundhu. Just too good n yummy. The breakfast here is also amazing. Lot of must try dishes. I have been here couple of times and I would really recommend you to visit this place and try out.

It's a small place with nice ambience. They have a wide range of costal food items. We had fish meals, fish potti biryani and Gilli chicken biryani. All of them had authentic taste.nice place to be with family.

Located in the main road of Anna Nagar next to roundtana towards ICF.
People might think it one serve fish based dishes, no you had it wrong . We went and ordered for chicken biriyani .
Biriyani was pretty good ,the quantity was more.
They had given a typical Andhra touch to the biriyani which was spicy as well as tasty.
This is a must try place in Anna Nagar
Their service could have been better.
Excellent food quality taste mind blowing ...
I ordered lunch i had fish curry, mutton curry, greens, rasam and butter milk with rice.
💓 Filled taste

It was a dreaded afternoon at work, when I decided to order food from a never-before-tried place via Uber Eats. Fish Bone had an attractive offer, in which they offered a non veg meal for ₹69, discounted from ₹190. Although skeptical after looking at the price, I decided to give it a try nevertheless. Boy, did I make the right choice!
The non veg meal included a portion of rice, fish curry with one piece fish, dal, gourd and beetroot bhaaji, rasam, a couple other dishes (that I am forgetting) and halwa (sweet).
The fish tasted fresh and well cooked. the gravy was just the right amount of spicy (atleast for me, I detest very spice food). The rice was enough for one person, but seemed less considering the nukber of accompaniments! :P Rasam and halwa were the perfect ad-ons!
The delivery was also done very promptly, suggesting that most of the food parcels were already kept ready - sign of a proactive manager!
All in all, I was extremely satisfied with the meal and it rejuvenated me for the second half of my workday! Kudos, Fish Bone :D
Looking forward to physically visit the hotel and dine-in sometime soon!

When the gilli briyani was trending in insta I always wanted to dig in and One more briyani place ticked off from my wishlist!

It is located near arch of anna tower ,, its a small restaurant with the ambience which is neat and cozy decor !!

We stumbled when we were looking for a lunch meal!! We went for veg andhra meals,,which was good with 2 veggies, keerai, sweet the andhra special gongra and as usual the sambar, rasam and curd!!

The gilli briyani ,,only a very few restaurant in Chennai serves you briyani in seeraga samba rice,,this is one of it,,we went for chicken briyani which was served in bay leaves,,loved the zesty taste , which was auromatic and spicy with kind of chetinnad flavours!!

We opted fish fingers for my kid,,best thing about it is, it was cooked with freshly catched pomfret fish,, rather the imported basha fish which is the usual one in all restaurants!!

The service was prompt and impeccable!!

One of the finest andhra cuisine in Chennai where you can hog on and satiate your tastebuds!!

Bon appetite guys!!

This is one of the latest seafood entrants at Annanagar ... went there with my Bro in law for a quick lunch on a sunday...

Ambience - simple plain and elegant. Though it appears small , has enough tables and also an added portion downstairs apt for family gathering dinners.

Service - probably the highlight of the restaurant because once the food is served quick and hot . The fried Cobia we had ordered was replaced as a whole immediately by the manager just because part of it was slightly undercooked in a portion of it. Highly commendable response i must say.

Cuisine - Its primarily a sea food outlet... with a catchy board naming the CATCH OF THE DAY highlighting the fish variety of the day. But the restaurant do have their specialities in chicken/mutton as well.

Our Experience - we went for the speciality fried Fish of the day which was Cobia... and it was well done with a special masala over it ... definitely worth a try ... but The prawn varuval was an absolute classic. The Ghilli biriyani is what we had had... which is totally different from most biryanis as its strong in their spices and the curry flavor is strong ... we had had the mutton type which was excellent and should probably try their chicken type in the next visit.

Not to Be Missed - Anyone who visits this place , please do try their Dessert called DING DONG... this is one special kind of a dessert made with bread and ice cream which is distinctly different and something one must not miss out.

Prices - the prices are very well within the range and very affordable.

Therefore a perfect place for a big gang to gorge on south indian seafood cuisine.

Signature Speciality - Red Snapper Full Fish - cooked well in masala tasted good.
Seela Full Fish fry - was good but costly.
Emperor Fish - Not worth. Bargur Chicken Uppu Kari (with bone) - suggested by the waiter. Has spiciness of pepper on the high side.
Chicken Boneless 65 Homestyle - was like bhajji, chicken dipped in batter n fried. Not worth.
Crab Lollypop - just 4 pcs! Disappointed with the Quantity. But tasted good with their mayo.
Prawn Podi Varuval - you get Big prawns mixed with masala.
Mutton Kari Dosa - was good but no accompaniment was disappointing.
Mutton Potti Biriyani - looked like masala rice, but tasted different than normal biryani.
Mutton Gilli Biriyani - wet soggy version of biryani, mild spice, like homemade.
Kal Dosa and Meen Kulambu - the Best combo, Meen Kulambu tasted like homemade with a lot of garlic. Thick and sufficient quantity in a pot.
Chicken Masala Fried Rice - was different as masala was mixed. Didn't feel dry at all. Sufficient quantity for a person. Worth it.
Mixed Fried Rice - It has small pieces of mutton, prawn, chicken, and egg mixed with fried rice. Prawns could have been softer and well marinated. Felt bland. For 220 bucks, not worth it.
Lime Mint Soda - was given in a small jar.
Ice cream - 2 scoops was a good finisher. Definitely will try other items next time.

Fish bone , a fairly new restaurant in Annanagar
Much publicised for their wide varieties of sea food specialities.
Ambience : have taken a simple , modest black and white tone . Decent.

Food : on asking suggestions to the wait staff , I was suggested the fish podi varuval for starters and then I decided to go for biriyani for main course
I was suggested that their specialty is ghilli biriyani
To my surprise it wasn’t a seafood biriyani but you have either a chicken or a mutton variant !
I went for the chicken ghilli biriyani
The service was fast and Biriyani was served soon . Fish podi varuval took some time though .
And to my surprise ghilli biriyani wasn’t anything like that of a regular biriyani!
It was more of like a thick chicken gravy or paste mixed with rice and served! And it had too much of spices and masala ! - that didn’t appeal much !!
And the fish podi varuval was really good ! Definitely worth trying !
Falooda - was kind of ok ! I felt that regular road side cool drinks shop would do a better job !
On the whole fish podi varuval was the only thing that saved the meal ! Regular biriyani lovers wouldn’t find ghilli biriyani appealing!! Was an ok-ish kind of experience! Didn’t match the expectations!! Was rather disappointed with the experience !!

Fish Bone is a fairly recent restaurant in Anna Nagar. It is just opposite to Kandasamy Men's College and is situated in the corner of the road that leads to Anna Nagar Tower Park. There has been a lot of restaurants in this property before Fish Bone. But they've done the restaurant in white and black and have kept the decor to a very minimal look.

We started our meal with a hot and spicy Naatukozhi Soup. As I was having a bad cold and cough that day, it was as if the soup was God sent! Damn good to have if you are sick. It tasted wonderful also with a piece of Naatukozhi in it.

For starters we had the Telengana Prawn Bajji. It was big pieces of prawn batter fried to a crisp and was served with a spicy chutney to complement it. We found that the prawns still had their vein. When we brought that to the management's notice, they made sure it was removed in the second batch that we ordered. Yes, we ordered twice because it tasted very good. Prawn Podi Varuval was made with smaller prawns and was tossed in a homemade spice mix that consisted of Andhra style Podi. Again it was soothing to my bad throat. Thanks to the spicy quotient of the dish. We also had the fresh catch of the day which was fried to us. But it fell on the flatter side when compared to other dishes. The Vanjaram Fry on the other hand was spot on. It was surprising to see them serve grated coconut on top of the fish, but it just elevated the taste.

We kept the mains to just two biriyanis as we were already full with the starters. We had the Potti Biriyani and the Gilli Biriyani. The Potti Biriyani was served on a dried Palmyra leaf box. But out of the two biriyanis, the Gilli Biriyani took the highlight. It was one of the best that I had!

For desserts we had their take on ice cream dessert with Kesari instead of other desi sweets. Proving that they wanted to retain the South Indian touch in their desserts also. It was a different experience to have Kesari with ice cream. The next dessert was called Ding Dong. It was nothing but bread and jam with ice cream. It also had the flavour of elaichi in it!

On the whole it was a nice experience to have a full on non vegetarian feast with the emphasis on fish based dishes.

With - Syed Abdul Ikraam , Sukanya Kaur , Sammienatorr , Keerthivasan KA

This 5 star rating is only for the special Gilli chicken Biriyani. The ambience was good. Fish Podi Varuval was pretty good. The fish seemed to be fresh.

Excelent ambience potti biriyani, gilli biriyani and sea food bajji with a spl chutney tongue drooling. Starters in a vry diff style must taste and the ding dong dessert is one of the best ever tasted.....
Starters:
Prawn podi masala: Was very good. Full marks to that.

Catch of the day emperor fish in andhra masala: fresh fish deep fried and topped with red chilly masala. Masala could have been better.

Biriyani:
chicken gilli biriyani: Disappointed with that. Expected a spicy biriyani and what was served looked like sambar rice. For a moment i thought they placed the wrong item in my table. Sadly, that was not the case. Taste was average.

Lassi, chocolate milk shake - Average. Can be a little more thick.

Service was prompt and quick. Meat was fresh.
Quantity is less though.
This place looks good and all but the thing is the price it is so high that sometimes people can't afford it and when we order a dish we expect atleat 4 can share but the quantity also sucks but after all that the food is delicious and yummy. Request the restaurant to lessen their price .

Fish bone - quirky name, minimal decor (and too so spacious), prompt service and some super spicy, delicious food.

Catch of the day was sea bass when we visited - the fish was well marinated in Andra masala and pan fried. It tasted delicious - so juicy and well cooked (a little salt-less to my taste).

Mushroom pepper fry - unlike the sorda salt-less :P fish, this own was salty and i felt there was too much pepper added to this otherwise perfect veg starter.

Gundur Paneer - spicy paneer tandoori, tasted good.

Dragon chicken - One more super spicy dish, chicken toasted in red chilli sauce - tasted yummy.

Fish/Prawn Bhajji - fish/prawn coated in bhajji batter and deep fried. Different - i liked it.

Srilankan kothu roti - not sure if this is how it would taste in Sri Lanka, but this variant of kothu barotta tasted delicious to me.

Gilli mutton briyani - flavoured, yummy biryani served in mud pot. Good quantity and tasted really good.

Prawn Potti biryani - one really tasty prawn biryani after a long time.

Chicken Potti biryani - this biryani lacked flavour, i felt it was too plain. Tasted bearable when had with the gravy that accompanied it.

Ding dong - bread slices with a nutty jam topped with two scoops of ice cream. Well, it was different - tasted okay.

If you are a sucker for spicy food (like I am), then you would love this place.

Stepped in seeing good review from a fb page, but wasn’t upto the expectation. To our bad luck we didnt get the biriyani we ordered that got over soon. Other see food which they said to be their special, didnt stand out. Chicken gravy tasted home cooked. Fried rice was like the one in fastfoods. Totally an average experience.

Fish Bone! This place one of the new additions to anna nagar and is located in the 3rd avenue right opposite to kandaswamy naidu college.
Lets get to the food. Our orders were,
1.Catch of the day- red snapper & sea bass: Full fish marinated in spicy andhra masala. The fish was fresh, and spicy.
2.Guntur paneer: paneer cubes marinated in spicy guntur masala and tandoori'd to perfection.
3. Spl Red dragon chicken: crispy chicken pieces tossed in Spicy red chilli sauce.
4. Thakkali Mushroom idiyappam: If your a different type of biryani, you can try this! idiayappam mixed with tomato mix and mushroom and blended together.
5. Mushroom pepper fry: crispy mushroom tossed in excess of pepper, this was a bit extra peppery but was the best in the veg starters.
6. Gilli mutton biryani: Andhra styled spicy mutton biryani served in mud pot.
7. Prawn & Chicken potti biryani: The chicken potti was a bit bland and the spices were not evenly proportioned. The taste was very normal. The prawn biryani was amazing, spicy and hot with loads of prawns served in a potti basket. A must try.
8. Srilankan Kottu roti: kothu roti mixed along with exotic veggies and mild flavored sauce and seasoning.
9. Black pepper prawn: Tiger prawns tossed in black pepper, chopped garlic, onion and green capsicum with a hint of lime.
10. Telunganna prawn/fish bajji: prawn & fish dipped in mild spicy bajji batter and oil fried.
11. ding dong: This is their signature dessert, bad caramelized badam and walnut jam filled between bread slices and topped with ice cream!

The ambience was calm, but the place was a bit small to accommodate more numbers.
The service was good but was a little slow.
Overall the food was great and if you are looking for spicy food this will satisfy all your spicy craves.
#FishBone

Hi
So today I had ordered mutton potti biryani, prawns potti biryani and prawns Podi Varuval.
Mutton potti biryani was a great disappointment. Quantity was very less.
Prawns potti biryani was above average. The rice was little sticky but the prawns was well cooked.
The best out of all was the Prawns Podi Varuval. It's my favourite. The masala used was too good and overall I give this dish 4/5.

Definitely a place for all the seafood lovers! Their mushroom pepper fry and Guntur paneer will just swipe you off your feet, a definite try. I also had tried their special mushroom idiyaapam with raita, as it tasted more like biriyaani, I did not fancy it. The ambience was very cute, perfect for a date with all the little lighting and the service is really nice as well. Overall, a definite visit if you love seafood and authentic flavors.

The latest entrant in the recent spamming of restaurants in Anna Nagar is this Sea Food dominated restaurant located just few blocks from Roundana. The ambience is as same as the previous named Metro Dine restaurant, simple, walk through, fairy lights to the attraction. Good.

TELUNGANA FISH and PRAWN BAJJI was a good light dish to start with, the stuffed pieces was good both fish & Prawn, I felt a little more of masala's in the bajji flour would've done wonder to this dish. FISH FINGER layered with the breadcrumbs, good fish pieces stuffed into but the mayo dip didn't go well. Extra garlic in the dip, if I m not wrong. Interesting caption this CATCH OF THE DAY, according to whatever fish is available for the day fully sorted with masala's. It was Red Snapper that day with Andhra masala which was little raw with a strong hint of the fish smell and the also the masala's didn't get immersed inside the skin. Expected much more in this dish going by the looks but felt little disappointed.

Even though I m not a great fan of Kothu this SRILANKAN CHICKEN KOTHU PAROTTA was the pick of the lot with noodles styled Parotta, Chicken, cabbage, carrots & cauliflower. 3 varieties of Biriyani and the PRAWN though little soggy preparation, spicy, served hot with big flavourful Prawns added to the gravy or serva satisfied me completely. GILLI BIRIYANI with Mutton was also good flavour filled. But Chicken Biriyani though with Seeraga Samba rice ended up flat.

Overall - The thought process behind the place is actually good, the menu with dishes like Kari Dosa, Bunny Chow is quite exciting, but pulling off these things together, I think they could do even more better.

Cheers :)

Very cute restaurant in Anna Nagar
I love their ambience!! Beautiful french windows!!
We started with
Chicken soup:- it was perfect for my throat
Prawn podi fry:- 🌶🌶🌶 but yumm
Fish podi fry:- 🌶🌶 and perfect
Guntur paneer:- 🌶🌶🌶 very spicy and yumm
Vanjaram fry:- was too good
Pomfret fry:- was cooked sooo good
Gilli biryani:- gravy biryani was so good
Potti biryani:- was different and too good
And the best was their dessert

Kesari with homemade icecream:- it was the best
Dingdong:- bread jam soaked in custard and home made icecream I haven’t tasted anything like this it was too good

Food:- good
Service:- good
Cost:- good
Ambience:- excellent

If you are searching for a seafood restaurant serving delicious fresh fish, look no more, this is the perfect place.

A couple of bloggers and I were invited to this restaurant to try out their food. We were served a delicious fresh catch of the day, which was a Red Snapper. The fish was perfectly cooked and the flavor was well balanced. Following the Red Snapper, we were served Telangana style shrimp and fish bajji, the flavor was exquisite, the dipping sauce went perfectly with the dish.

For the main course, we were served 3 different types of biryani, Andhra style chicken biryani, Mutton potti biryani and Prawn potti biryani. I wasn't particularly fond of the biryani, it needs a little improvement in the flavor. This being said, the Prawn biriyani was exceptional, the gravy which was served on the side elevated the taste of the dish.

In my opinion, the pièce de résistance of the dinner was their Sri Lankan Chicken Kothu Paratha, I will soon be visiting them to taste the dish again.

Finally, for the dessert we were served "Ding Dong", a sandwich of caramelized nuts topped with Ice cream, it didn't look appetizing but it tasted good.

Been here for a long carving day. Located very near to Anna Arch. Im die hard foodie for sea foods.
Atmosphere: Though the space is small, they have managed with good & simple deco.
Courtesy: The waiters are pleasing.
Taste: Went late so can't afford to gilli biriyani. So note, you have yo be in time for great tastes. But they are open till 4pm.
Their prawn potti biriyani was awesome n super spicy.
Ordered ocean platter which has squid(can't feel taste and not that good), so called calamari reminding manhattan memories but only a full fish(decently good), crabs with gravy(not a sea crab, small one but nicely cooked, they are not serving shell less) and finally they forgot to give prawn. Again checked with them to bring prawn. Prawns were good but semi cooked when compared to home made prawns.
Biriyani and prawn lovers must pay visit for sure.

They are bit careless in billing, so make sure you pay for what you had. Overall I liked having biriyani n prawn.

Smallish restaurant in a busy area. Food was good. Nethili Fry , Prawn Podi Varuval , Red Fish Curry , Uppu Kari , Jaffna Crab , Full fish with Andhra Masala , Kal Dosa and Idiyappam. Cant really fault any of the dishes. The prawns were probably on the smallish side. Other than that , all dishes were good.

A very good place for those who are into sea food..The fish they served was yumm even my kid liked it a lot...though a very small place the food was awesome and worth every penny..

Minimalistic ambience and above average service. The best part was the food(fish). We ordered Prawn podi varuval in which we had to search for prawns. It was very average but other reviews were good for it.We got the fresh catch of the day next,it was Red Snapper and we went for andhra spicy style. One of the best fish dish I have ever had.The spicy seafood fried rice was average. The prawns in the fried rice were too raw and just boiled with no flavour.

Service was fast.
Fish was not very fresh & was over cooked.
Chicken was light, spicy & pretty good.
Juice was cold & fresh.

3 stars Because when you’re name is Fish Bone, you should serve fresh well cooked fish, this was a disappointing trip. Much better options available in this area for the price.

Firstly, to set expectations straight, this isn't a fancy fine dining place. But, a small well maintained place that has some really yummy food. The Chicken/Mutton gilli biryani was really really well made. The mashed rice was almost perfect and melts in your mouth. The prawn podi varuval was flavorful and tasted so homemade. The Chinese pomfret was decent. The service staff were extremely well behaved.

Really impressed with the taste of all dishes tried. Gilli mutton biriyani is a must try, squid varuval and vanjaram fry were awesome too... a bit pricey but worth the taste.

A very nice restaurant with nicer Staffs. The food tastes really good and is of great quality too. A wide range of menu of Sea food cuisine. They respect their customers so good which is missing in most of the restaurants these days.

Fish bone I got to know this place through my fellow foodies ! Seafood specialised restaurant ! This made me to visit this place !

Location : Anna nagar east , in the lines before nalaas appakadai - Indus bank
Map in the zomato points to some other location - it's wrong so do not follow the directions from zomato!

Ambience - decent - 3/5

Food - had tried limited only !
GILLI MUTTON BIRYANI - it was so different , soggy and tasty ! Mutton pieces were cooked properly but it was lil salty ! Otherwise it would have been my favorite if salt was less!

PRAWN PODI VARUVAL - my favourite ! properly sauted with shallots with homemade masala , it was completely vera level ! MUST TRY !

My friend ordered one drink as well - THE GLOW
He loved it !

Service was good. Reasonable price !

Overall - good would rate 3.5/5.
I am definitely coming back to explore their menu and will update the review soon 😊

Fish Bone is located at third avenue Anna Nagar, the First thing I noticed before entering the Restaurant is that they offer Car Parking upfront which definitely is a plus point. The ambience is pleasant, though the place is compact it has a certain Je Ne Sais Quoi which really uplifts your mood. The waiter was very polite and lead us to our table, where he explained the signature dishes which he insisted we must try. After a long Discussion we ordered

Nattu Kozhi Rasam Soup: The Soup was hot and definitely had a delightfully pungent after taste which hit me good and was a great start to the meal. (Since I had cold I enjoyed it even more)

Gilli biryani (Chicken): Gilli Biryani basically biryani cooked in chicken or mutton gravy, It was flavourful and is different from your regular Biryani but would suggest you to eat it while it’s hot because the rice is wet and would definitely taste different when eaten cold.

Potti Biryani (Chicken & Mutton):Unlike Gilli Biryani, both Mutton & Chicken Potti Biryani were dry and is made from Seeraga Samba rice and served in a Woven Basket which is I felt was very quaint. Though the coriander and cardomom spices were overpowering, it is definitely worth trying.

Fish & Prawn Podi Varuval: Fish & Prawns cooked to perfection with a blanket of spices covering it , that’s how I would describe it! if you have sensitive taste buds, it is not for you. The spice junkies would go Ga Ga over it.

Vanjaram Fry: Slices of vanjrams were crispy and delicious. The seasoning of spices were perfect and this was definitely one of my favourite dishes.

Pomfret Fry: The shallow fried pomfret, marinated and seasoned with spices was definitely the WINNER! Must Try!

Banana Lassi: A Mouth watering combination of yogurt and bananas was the perfect balance that went great with spicy food.

Ding Dong: Slices of bread soaked in custard, applied with berry flavoured jam and served with a scoop of homemade ice-cream. Innovatively Attractive!

Kesari Ice Cream: Homemade delicious Kesari served with Ice Cream Topping.

Overall a good experience! a mouth-watering combination of andhra’s best delicacies that will set your taste buds ablaze, If you are craving for spicy food this is definitely worth checking out!
Taste : 4/5 Ambience: 4/5

Went to fish bone in anna nagar today
Sema sea food restuarant must try👍🏻
Especially their ghilli briyani was awesome.. We ordered two servings there and took one take away also. It was not like a briyani, rather a non veg kozhambu rice that was served hot in mud pots. was very authentic in taste.

*Menu items tried in fish bone
1. Naatu kozhi rasam soup
2. Ghilli briyani - Master piece. 😍😍
3. Chicken nuggets with mayonise
4. Koduva fish fry
5. Kadal virundhu - special non veg meals with one fish fry, 3 small crab servings, 1 portion squid fry with all sweet and 3 non veg kozhambu.
6. Ding dong ice cream - 2 scoops ice cream on top of 2 toast n jam.
7. Finally a glass of lime soda..
*

Cozy place located behind Indus Ind bank atm with adequate parking. About 25-30 covers only. Usp seems to be the seafood available and multiple options. Been here a couple of times now for lunch and dinner.

The catch of the day be it grouper or red snapper etc with home made masala etc is what will attract me to this place. Very well prepared and more importantly it's fresh.

Meals just about average. Soup depends on the given day - had the crab n prawn soup and it was yummy.

Gili Briyani which seems to be yet another signature dish here was good the first time. Very average the second time, over cooked chicken no masala taste etc. Think consistency is definitely needed here.

While staff is courteous seriously need some training. Not able to explain dishes at all. When asked what's so special about Gili Briyani he says it's their chef special paste. When I tasted it was similar to the several Briyani already available in the market and asked him about the special paste just kept repeating the same thing. Also they should stop pushing stuff incessantly to customers. Let us choose what we want not what you want to sell.

While price is on the higher side, good portion of the full fish makes it worthwhile. Not so much the meals-a weak area.

Overall a few irritating bones that hinder a good experience.
