Hi I had ordered food from AAT ..it was a combo lunch .The food was awesome specially the pork .But I expect more quantity via vis the price ....you know what I mean ......."dil mange more as they say"....and one more point. .and a very important one .....that is "delivery on time" it would be a special favour for us hungry customers to get food on time. Hope my critical appreciation will be of help for the AAT who are already doing good but nevertheless being competetive always pays. By the way AAT stands for "Anglo Aunty's Takeaway. " Regards.

I ordered a chicken sandwich and a chicken cutlet. The taste was really good and it was less oily. The sauce (I think it is chillie sauce) was really really yummy. Would have given a 5 point rating if it was not for the price. Considering the quantity, I think it's a bit over priced.

Tried the Pork Vindalo. Salt was less and didn't get the vinegar taste associated with the dish. The Beef roast was good. Also liked the Pork fry tried earlier.

Lately, Chennai is buzzing with restaurants. Every week there are atleast a couple of new places coming up and now, the city has cuisines from all over the world. You name it and it's there. Amidst all these, there's this little takeaway joint, the only place that serves Anglo-Indian cuisine.
Like their name says, located right next to Irezumi in Nungambakkam, it's a small kiosk where you can just do a takeaway. Mallika wanted a bunch of us foodies to sample the food and give her the feedback. Here's mine:

My bag had:
* Peas pulav
* Chicken Biriyani
* Anglo chicken curry
* Chicken cutlet
* Devil's chutney
* Chicken pickle
* Brinjal pickle
All of the items were packed with wondeful flavors; light on the tummy. Cannot comment on the authenticity of the food as this was my first time with Anglo-Indian cuisine, but I WOULDN'T MIND HAVING THIS FOOD ALL MY LIFETIME. Loved the subtle flavors. ❤

Packaging was neat and everything was labelled. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. My rating says it all! I'm definitely going back to taste some of their beef and pork items (couldn't get them home because I didn't wanna be homeless).

Holy shit!
Ordered a pork roast, and got a box full of amazing, delicious dripping taste explosion! It was soft, warm and a class apart.
Previously, had ordered a biriyani, mostly was disappointing. This roast pork though, has more than made amends for that debacle!
Goes amazing with the high spirits. :'D

A good roast is something that I've craved for ages in Chennai. Things would've been great if I hadn't tasted ample samples of perfect roasts during my stint abroad but unfortunately, I did and it was something I've fancied for a long long time. This is when I got to know about Anglo Aunty's Takeaway. A fellow foodie friend of mine had tried them a while ago and she loved it. This not only ensured the eatery a place in my 'Gotta try' list, it also landed itself at the top spot, courtesy, the fact that they sell beef as well as pork. Thanks to my messed up work timings, I wasn't able to reach them as fast as I wanted to but that's when I had the opportunity to try them through an invite and that was an offer, that I couldn't refuse. That's how I got to try Anglo Aunty's takeaway and this review is based on this splendid experience.

After placing my orders with the proprietor, who was very sweet and took note of my preferences, I reached the spot. Anglo Aunty's Takeaway is located on College Road (That one way road that connects Sterling Road to Nungambakkam high road). This takeaway joint is situated outside the famous Irezumi Tattoo Parlour and is right next to Nungambakkam's Cream Centre. There is enough space to park a couple of bikes and since I was there on a late evening, I had no troubles in parking my car. The joint is well lit with an illuminated name board thereby making it hard to miss.

The person in-charge of the shop had been informed on my preferences which were kept ready. He was sweet enough to give me a shot of their homemade non-alcoholic wine. A quick gulp made me cherish its flavour which was divine to say the least. After getting back home, as slow as I can, to prevent cops from stopping me and telling me to blow, I sat down to relish on the treats.

The packaging was neat and the dishes were labelled perfectly. I had gotten portions of Beef Cutlets, Pork Curry Bowl, Anglo Beef Roast and Pork Biriyani. Had the cutlets as a starter. The patties were cooked to perfection and it was meaty, making it one of the best non veg cutlets available in town. Being a biriyani lover, I jumped straight for it. It was also the most interesting dish as I haven't had biriyani with pork meat. A spoonful was enough to give me a sample of how good it was. It has the perfect taste one would find in a good mutton biriyani. The flavours were perfect and the pork pieces were flawlessly cooked.

The beef roast was obviously my sought after dish in the lot. The portion was humongous and it was the first thing I noticed. The impeccably cooked beef roast was braised so well that the juices have been left intact making the meat succulent. I remember the owner saying that the technique used was her family recipe and I understand completely on why family recipes stand the test of time. The Pork Curry Bowl was pretty good too but it had quite a dense layer of oil on top. Most of them would love the pork fat but I prefer the meat to the fat chunks and the meaty ones from this side, tasted good. The curry was soupy, making it a good side for rice. In my opinion, it could've been better. I also got to try a bit of their pork pickle and chilli chutney and they were out of this world.

What I personally love about this place is the quality and quantity. While restaurant food hits one's stomach, it's homemade food that hits the soul and this place does a very good job of hitting that bulls-eye. Even though at first glance of the menu, it did look a tad expensive, after seeing the quantity and tasting the food, I can surely say that it's worth every penny. What I can also say is the fact that the Anglo Aunty's Takeaway will be seeing me quite often.

Location & Ambience: It’s a takeaway place and you can place your order via call or zomato online order. And their Nungambakkam outlet is on the college road. Though the correct given is correct when you click on the maps to get directions it leads to a completely wrong destination. So just head your way to college road, after you cross Good Shepherd you can spot the outlet on your left side before cream centre restaurant and Regional Meteorological Centre. And considering they only do takeaway, the place is similar to a kiosk setup.

Taste & Variety: It’s authentic Anglo Indian cuisine and I have no idea about the cuisine. So I am not going to comment about the authenticity and going to just stick to the taste. Since it was an on-the-house invite to taste their food, the choice of dishes as well was left to them. So when I went to pick my food the package contained - Chicken Cutlet, Chicken Curry Bowl, Peas Pulav, Chicken Biriyani and some Anglo pickle & chutney.

The chicken curry loaded with tanginess from tomato, juicy pieces of chicken and potato is typical home style comfort food that would perfectly blend with the Peas Pulav. Indeed this is the combination they suggest as well. The essence of spices like star anise, cardamom, etc., just elevates the flavour of peas pulav. Typically how the pulav and chicken curry are made at some of the South Indian households at Chennai.

Chicken Biriyani again exhibited the depth of flavours from the different spices used. I never prefer star anise in my biriyani as the essence of that dominates the complete taste of a dish so this style of biriyani isn’t my favourite. But nevertheless the succulent chicken and the flavour of the biriyani was enjoyed by others. But I definitely missed the raitha considering the spiciness that hits you from the biriyani.

Chicken cutlet was their best pick, the crispy outer crust and the chicken flavour in the cutlet was great; as well the cutlet wasn’t oily. But they should change the way they pack their chicken cutlet, mine was almost broken so may be a box would be a better option so the cutlet doesn’t break and also stays hot.

Finally, coming to their pickle & chutney. The chicken pickle with strong flavour from the ginger and heat from the chillies was bang-on, a must try. The Brinjal pickle was another favourite of mine, the tanginess and subtle spice was so good. And the Devil’s chutney was spicy as well as a tiny bit of sweetness hits you, it reminded me the sweet and tangy chinese sauces you get for dim sums.

Definitely beef and pork lovers have an upper hand as they have more dishes to try, but one good thing is they are planning to add more dishes for chicken lovers. And vegetarians really do not have options except sandwich, brinjal pickle and peas pulav; again as the veg options are not opted much it’s better to enquire them before hand about the availability.

Quality & Quantity: The portion size of rice and curry is perfect for two people. With respect to the pickles, they sell them as bottles. Their choice of ingredients and style of cooking reminds you home food, and indeed everything they present is home cooked food.

Price: I cannot comment about the pricing but still a meal for two would cost around Rs.800-900 INR approximately. Considering the portion and taste it is totally worth your try.

To get some taste of homemade Anglo Indian food, especially the beef and pork lovers do check their food and also the pickles.

Anglo Aunty's Takeaway as the name suggests it's an Anglo Indian Cuisine, which is a mix of European and Indian foods. This kiosk is located Just outside the Iruzumi (Tatoo Shop) and just before Cream Centre in College Road,Nungambakkam.

Never Tried an Anglo Indian Cuisine so I was excited to try what's in store for me. I opted for Chicken, but pork and beef are best to order in Anglo Indian Cuisine.
My Takeaway had Chicken Biriyani, it was flavorsome, the spices dominated the Taste and Chicken pieces has been cooked to perfection. Chicken Cutlet was a surprise package it had all the possible masala and small chicken chunks to get the crunch in each bite. Anglo Chicken curry got the Taste of home made curry with tender chicken pieces. I had the Peas pulav for dinner and it has been packed for lunch, the pulav was good even after long hours. Chicken pickle was tangy and a bit spicy , not for my Taste. Overall it was a good meal.

Disclaimer: Never had pork and It was made halal, as requested from my end.

Anglo aunty 's is more or less the only Anglo Indian cuisine place I had come across. You could just experience their food alone as it's a takeaway place.

It's a kiosk outside iruzumi tattoos and in between Alliance and Creame centre. Has a little space in front to grab takeaway on the go.

The kiosk looks neat and the board is visible with neon lights. As I am pretty new to the cuisine, Angela guided me through how authentic these dishes are prepared.

I was given this package - Beef & Chicken Cutlets, Peas pulav , Anglo chicken curry, brinjal, chicken pickle, beef pickle and devil's chutney. The cutlets were gourmet material - crispy and fresh. Beef was chewy and chicken was tender. The peas pulav was something which was good and even after traveling back home for 20mins, still had the aroma intact. The curry was my favorite, it had the home cook touch. It ll go well with any main dish. The devil's chutney was something so spicy and tangy - great sauce material. The pickles were good but can make it more tender. Nonetheless, it did taste good.

The service was great as some of my friends who ordered earlier assured me that they are very prompt and responsive in that. The prices seem a tad higher but definitely worth every dime for this palette.

For over a year I've been seeing this place whenever I go through College Road to drop my sister at Women's Christian College and I've always wanted to try it. Finally made an order for an afternoon Lunch, on a very beautiful Sunday with a wondrously pleasant climate and it didn't disappoint.
Ordered Peas Pulao, Chicken Cutlet, Beef Cutlet, Anglo Chicken Gravy and Red Velvet Cake.
1. The Peas Pulao was very good. Simple with a fragrant yet not overpowering aroma.
2. Anglo Chicken Curry had a very homemade taste to it and we really liked it. I would suggest a little less oil and a mix of both bony and boneless pieces.
3. Beef Cutlet and Chicken Cutlet were awesome and the spicy tomato sauce was great.
4. The Red Velvet Cake Dessert Jar was Divine, D-I-V-I-N-E.

Notable mention.
The lady who took the order was very kind. They forgot the Chicken curry  so I called them back. They immediately sent the chicken curry within 15 mins and gave us a Dessert Jar on the house. I really thought that was a very nice gesture as it made the disappointment of a missed item go away in a second. Positive things like these make you wanna order again and deserve a 5* rating.

Very authentic Anglo food, if a bit too oily. Well cooked with tons of flavour, their food is a must-have for anyone looking for good food in general. Great job, guys.

.5 extra for the lovely anonymous lady who had the patience to deal with the confusion of my order. Kudos to you, too.

Tried Anglo Auntys Takeaway for lunch today... I've always had a great association with people from the Anglo Indian community starting from my childhood to my workplace and to the person who makes wine and lucky enough to have authentic food made by Grand parents of my colleagues..
So with the above memories in mind I decided to place an order here for lunch..my orders were..
Beef Cutlet
Pork Biriyani
Pork Vindaaloo

Beef Cutlet - The taste was good..and the sauce was yummy..however the price was on the higher side.. 75bucks for 1 Cutlet..3.5/5

Pork Vindaaloo- the preparation was yummy..everyone loved it including my dad who is a big time critic.. However the pork pieces some of them were hard and lil rubberish..Reasonable pricing..Hence I give it 3.75/5.

Pork Biriyani - Nice flavour and texture..good taste..again there were some pieces that were hard and rubberish..Salt in the biriyani was missing big time...Reasonable pricing.. 3.75/5

The delivery time was a little over an hour which was okay with me as it was only getting time for lunch..

All of you must try this place and make sure you mention the above small glitches to make sure you get the best.. I will definitely order here again and hopefully my feedback would have bin taken care of.. :)

Pretty decent for for a home made takeaway tried the beef combo and the pork chop. The chops we excellent cooked well and the flavour was nice Good dish. The beef combo with the beef ball curry and cutlet with yellow rice the cutlet was good but the packing was wrong silver plastic bag nearly broke into pieces before it came I think silver foil would have done a better job the beef ball curry was very very watery could get some flavour but the water made it mild the yellow rice was quite dry but definitely will go back this week end for more deliver is not their game I think if personal u go there for a takeaway it will be a much better experience. Heard they have homemade wine also should try that also this weekend

Ordered a "Combo 2" last week and was pleasantly surprised with the yummy fare. The meatball curry and the beef cutlet were yum, but the coconut rice, devil's chutney and the brinjal pickle were the clear cut favourites at home. And the pricing is absolute value for money considering the good portion size. Would I order again? Definitely!

Picked up two orders of the beef combo and two portions of beef rib for a dinner at home, after ordering in advance on the phone. Mallika was really nice and she promptly encouraged us to connect with her on WhatsApp to keep us updated about the daily specials. The food was really delicious - no oily greasy feel despite it being 'heavy' food. The cutlets were amazing with the sauce, and the beef ball gravy creamy but spicy. Mallika said that she was told that the beef ribs were good - she heard right. Only crib - we thought that the potatoes were slightly undercooked.
I love how this place has such a unique menu and don't mind the only takeaway tag - you can get food by the kilo and eat it like it was meant to be eaten - with friends and family, relaxing over a few drinks. Plus that way you can also pick up some veg food for 'those' friends of yours :p

My Colleague got his lunch delivered from a guy with this unusual Name Tag. My colleague was trying the restaurant as a 1st timer himself and wanted me to try few of the dishes he had ordered for two of us. When he said he had ordered Ox Tail Curry, I laughed in disbelief until I was re-assured that finally he has actually figured out a restaurant that caters such non Veg delicacies which are quite common abroad. It seemed like an angel in disguise when I actually had my 1st bite, followed by the 2nd one and every other one to follow was nothing but a gastronomy hurricane of sensory pleasures. It was a heartfelt meal after a long time. I would recommend this place to everyone who is seeking for platter of delicious meat cooked in an adventurous style with the mix of spices.

First of all, I was wondering what’s the big deal about Anglo-Indian food? Isn’t it just the same as all the other food? Turns out, it isn’t. Like they have the cutest names for the dishes and the ingredients themselves sound so exotic. If you want to just walk up to the booth, you can always pick up one of the combos that they are serving on that day. I wanted the specials because they sounded so unique (duh that’s why they’re called specials?). So I placed an order for a mutton bunlet and the ox tail curry and took home the chicken combo that day. I could barely contain my excitement two days later when I went to collect the food. The chicken combo itself had me wanting more! So coming to the specials, the bunlet was basically a DIY burger where they give you a cutlet and chutney and a bun. But the cutlet is so juicy! The mutton was super. The ox tail curry actually had a hint of coconut in it but it went great with just plain rice. I think it would be great with chapatti or something also. That’s what I’m going to try next time.

But overall great service, neat packing and prompt delivery. Food is a total 10/10!

As a beef lover I am quite specific and usually Nungambakkam has the best places for beef, was browsing Facebook and came to know about this place... rumba unique name... anyways the space was very neat. They have a range of non veg options... I picked beef ofcourse.. this place is heaven there is all kinds of dishes, from roasts to spareparts, to stews and bunlets. The mneu was one of the most unique ones I have seen in Chennai...
I ordered the beef combo and bunlets as well as I took the mutton combo... I got home and my friends and I shared the food... once opened I found that easily 4 of us were able to eat comfortably... so there was meatball curry, which I mention first because it was yum! like I have had this before at my friends place and this was exactly the same taste... there was so much flavour and as the guy at the counter said it was all very fresh and very home made. The meat was succulent and tender and the rice accompanied very well. The bunlets were such awesome appetizers but guess what... these guys give you a patty as well with every combo, so we got these extra patties and we made double bunlets and chomped them down with devils chutney.. it was like having a gourmet burger. The mutton curry was awesome as well and the mutton patty even yummier! We ask all of you to go and try it at least once! good food for the soul! Thanks guys awesome joint!
