Review Daawat - Chennai (Madras)

One of my fav places in chennai, been visiting this place from 2009, it serves with good, decent taste and correct quantity. Must try: Chicken waqari, Nan varieties, and their special kebabs. It's pocket friendly and good spot for small group of friends and family Meetup...It's next to Odessey in service road.

Very rare do we find a simple, straightforward, economical eatery, which also happens to give great food. I am a frequent visitor to Daawat and I find all their items to be great and tasty. Their good culinary skills aside, I greatly appreciate the respect and humanity shown by the staff there. Starting from the owner to the waiting staff, they go out of their way to ensure that their visitors are happy. Will continue to be a avid client to Daawat and I hope the reader gives it a try.

Daawat is one decent restaurant that had maintained the quality and service over a period of time. Ordered several times and they were efficient in their delivery every single time. Taste is also good!!

In Adyar I heard that Dawat mutton biryani is the best. so I went to Dawat and ordered mutton biryani and chicken 65, the Biryani was so good as I heard the Rice and the mutton pieces are so yummy it smells so good and the taste was really superb, I enjoyed it, but the pricing was little much higher that's the only thing otherwise if you wanna have mutton biryani go for it....

It's near Odyssy.Ground floor. Indian ,Chinese food is available. Halal chicken and mutton is also available . Daawat is a veg-nonveg restaurant and have reasonable price.

One of the best place in Chennai to eat non veg. Everytime I go there, I am even more impressed. Also it is priced very well

Our all time favorite! Little eatery with best mouth watering biryanis and kebabs and tandooris in adyar. They do great home delivery too 😊
Renga Mayavan
Good quality, good quantity, price is slightly high. Not sure if these guys pay GST, bcos all u see is service charge in the bill (5%)

Do you know any word better than 'best'? Incorporate that as my comment... Daawat is synonymous with Biriyani and Kebabs...

Starting with lamb leg soup is really traditional taste. Kebab Platter was very good. Rate is reasonable. Overall food is Good. Biryani taste has to be improved. <br/>

Ordered for lunch today. Ordered at 12:07pm for a quicker delivery, and, was promised delivery within 45 minutes. When I called up for a follow up at around 01:15 pm, a guy by the name of Raja answered the phone and told that it will take another 15 minutes, as, he was not aware of the order. I called up again after 15 minutes, and, this time the same guy was extremely rude, and told me that it will take another 20 minutes, and, I can cancel the order of I wanted to. I also informed him that he is inviting a bad review on Zomato, and, he told me to go ahead. My daughter was extremely hungry and the food came after another 20 minutes at 02:00 pm. Food was good, but, the overall experience was spoiled. Requesting the restaurant to train their staffs on customer service.

I have been visiting this place from 2011. They are definitely one of the best when it comes to biriyani and kebab. they have open a new branch in santhome which is much bigger than the adyar one. must try: mutton biriyani, chicken fried rice, egg pepper masala, ghee parota, bread halwa, pepper chicken.
Amba
Not as good as usual.

Small underground restaurant but food they serve will be always tasty and i have been to this place before every time I tried something different from their menu now i can say they have good mutton kebab and chicken option, courteous staff and fast service i have always got. They do not serve grill item so u should always keep in mind. Overall worst item they have is biriyani totally u will find waste of money. I am giving 3.5 for service and kebab items and pocket friendly rate.

We went as a team of 12 there. The kebab items were finger-licking delicious - Kalmi Kebab, Kabab Burqhat??, Afghani Seekh Kebab. In the main course, the Mutton Roganjosh was also tasty. The biriyani was quite good too.The only reason for a 4.5 and not 5 is that the chicken 65 had an unusually strong meaty flavour so that alone felt like a let-down.Still I'd recommend this for a large group outing as it was relatively light on our pockets as well :)

delivery guy has stuck chewing gum on the food container, very atrocious

daawat !!!<br/><br/>ita very easily noticeble place...right below to basics....mainly concentrates in north indian cuisine...i ordered for one portion of tandoori chicken, sheek kebab , mutton biriyani , chilly chicken and fish fry ....all the dishes tasted too yum and my favorite was the chicken tandoor and the chilly chicken...total was about 800 and totally worth the money

This place has in my list for a while and planned a check-in on a Wednesday night. The place is easily locatable if you are in the service road. If not, check Google maps as it's a one way stretch. <br/>I was little puzzled when I saw all seats empty just one family seated in a corner. Promptly got the menu as I got seated. <br/>Surprisingly the rates in menu were not same as that in Zomato. Attached is a glimpse of menu. It was truly pricy. The Ambience was below expectation. It should have been better for the price. <br/>I ordered for Kalmi kabab, chicken biriyani, Garlic chicken, chicken fried rice and roti & naan. <br/>Biriyani was really good. Naan, roti and kebab were good enough. Garlic chicken was a bit smelly and did not have any flavor of garlic. It was just corn flour in it. The rice in fried rice was very hard to chew. Could not have it without a curry and he ஸ் had to finish the garlic chicken with it. <br/>Thought Iiked the biriyani, I don't think of going here again. Would probably get biriyani and kebabs delivered. No Chinese from here.

Its an usual type of restaurant. Its like a ditto of anjappar, ponnusamy etc.,The customer service must be improved. The Rotis were good. The Gravy and Briyani was ok.
Abhimanyu Padmaraj
Been here a couple of times! One of the best kebabs in town and not over pricy too ! Though a small place but has lot of varieties :) A small problem is parking and old people can’t take the stairs to the basement since there’s no lift, but that doesn’t matter though, the kebabs will just make you lit :)

Located at Adyar...The restaurant is pretty difficult to spot,it's near Odessey!!!..We checked in for dinner and the food was average,GST isn't added to your bill,so if you're looking for a budget economy restaurant then you should probably check-in here.Food is very average for the price and ambience is a bit dull and boring.A very small restaurant with average food and a decent customer service

We as a group of 12 opted for lunch at this place.. We know its a small place and we booked the tables earlier.. We were unlucky that day bcos fish items are NOT AVAILABLE! Ordered Pepper mutton fry and Mutton chukka. Taste wise, i am happy that it was a great feast to my taste buds. But over oily.. Next Chicken tandoori !! Surely one of the best i have tasted !! its highly recommended.. Biriyani's were also good with brinjal curry and raita... <br/><br/>But service was very late.. We almost waited for 20 mins for starters itself.. Otherwise, its a good experience!! Will visit once again for their Chicken Tandoori !!!!

Good mutton briyani, <br/>Slightly burnt smell came otherwise good.<br/>Packing was excellent. Raitha and bangain masala also good.price was also ok. Please maintain the quality.

The place and ambience is not all that fancy but if you want brilliant and good food, then Daawat is a place you absolutely have to try. Their tandoori chicken and mutton biriyani is absolutely amazing. The regular vegetarian fare of paneer tikka and butter masala is also pretty decent, but the grilled chicken and chutney is out of the world. For all protein lovers, you have to go here to taste what good grilled chicken is. Zaitoon can easily take a backseat on this one.

It's always a treat to come to dawat and have its kababs.. A small place but food wise great taste. The chicken tandoori is a highlight. They serve all kinds of things which a tandoor lover would wish to have.

Punjabi murgh is very delicious, so is chicken chatpata masala...<br/>Service is good <br/>Owner and manager are very polite..<br/>People here can also speak Hindi...

I have always been a fan of this place. In my opinion it is one of the few places in Chennai that have an exceptional biriyani. However, it's sad to see how the place is maintained. They have a cockroach infestation that they refuse to deal with. I had even brought it up with their management but nothing was done. I was told it was getting fixed, so I returned purely because they make a good biriyani but was disappointed to see cockroaches even run on the table. The branch they opened at santhome is way better in cleaness.<br/><br/>I can't really comment on the food given the hygiene standards. I hope they do something about it soon because eventually loyal customers will move on if nothing is done.<br/><br/>Supervisor has an attitude so behave exceptionally.

One of The Best Biryanis in the city. The ambience of this restaurant is not great, so have always got take away from here. Their biryani is to die for certainly 😍😄. They are predominantly good with North Indian and Chinese cuisines. Their portions are extremely good and total value for money. I really wish they work on their ambience and make it more welcoming.😊

Located in the basement of a complex next to Odyssey store  (Service Lane),Gandhi nagar.<br/><br/>Food : 3.5/5<br/><br/>Went with on my mind menu, Chicken Tandoori and Chicken Biryani.<br/><br/># Chicken Tandoori : Soft and deliciously spiced with mint chutney. <br/><br/>One of the best in the  recent past.<br/><br/># Chicken Biryani : Dum biryani was good enough, but a bit oily for my liking. <br/><br/>Not the right amount of meat to be served per person. <br/><br/>Brinjal curry - rich recipe. Raitha was too concentrated.<br/><br/>Sweet served along with the biryani was a prefect way to end my meal.<br/><br/>Chicken Tandoori-highly recommended.<br/><br/>Service : 4/5<br/><br/>Ambiance : 3/5<br/><br/>VFM : 3.5/5

Cecked into Dawat Restaurant yesterday at Santhome for lunch with my family . The hotel is not well equipped with people to service the customers <br/>in a speedy way . It took a lot of time for them to come and take the order but even the taken order was not serviced on time . The quality of food was pathetic it was not in a consumable form . Hotel staff did not even bother to check and do the needful to help the customers on the auspicious day . Never will I venture into this hotel again . Be careful before you check into this hotel again .

Me and my wife went there with high expectation... Service was very slow... And my wife spotted not one but many tiny hair on her roti... We called the staff... The staff did not apologise or offer a solution and walked away... My wife was pissed.... And the owner walked in... We showed him the roti... His answer... There will be small issues when we work with staff.. pls adjust... Why would u pay money and eat unclean unhealthy food? .... This is when ice creams arrived.... Looked melted.... I asked the waiter if it was milk or ice cream.... He smiled and walked away.... In total a very unhygienic food served by staff who have no sense of respect.... A place I would never step into again or recommend to anyone ....

I haven't rated any restaurants with 1 so far. But these guys deserve nothing more<br/>I went to this place with few of my friends for dinner. A small place in the basement with very very dull lighting. When we were looking at the menu, my friend(she) suddenly freaked out and flicked the menu. We saw a medium sized COCKROACH hit the ground and the waiter smashed it quickly and tried to convince us that it was already dead(which was dumb). We didn't want to argue with them as other people were dining. We just planned to go to buhari and left the place.<br/>But one guy(not the waiter) overheard us discussing and had the guts to come out and say that even buhari will this cockroach issue and its common everywhere. How can a restaurant guy not accept the fault and justify that cockroaches crawling on dining tables was not even an issue. There was an heated argument between me and that guy before we left that place and all that guy could say was its common and he didn't take responsibility for the issue. A sub standard/arrogant guys who dont know to handle an issue and solve it<br/>A worst experience in the recent times<br/>

This place is very difficult to spot. It's located in the basement adjacent to Naidu Hall. We ordered biryani and chicken kebab. Biryani was bland, less salt and masala. Tikka was decent.

By the basement at 1st main road Gandhinagar, this restaurant is a neat and a compact one. They specialize in Kebabs and other Tandoor cuisines. Been here a few times for casual dine-ins. Usually I go in for a few wheat parathas and a chicken dish.I relish the taste of Nawabi Chicken along with the parathas. All the chicken kebabs tastes exceedingly well. Certainly a place to look out for on the neighborhoods of Adyar.

Once u enter u can actually feel the space of the restaurant. It's not so comfy, 4 seats of 8 tables. <br/>U can't ve a conversation with ur people if 4 or 5 people start to speak in the restaurant.<br/><br/>Foods : u should taste the North Indian dishes here. Chicken pepper tikka must try here. Daawat ki kabaab, a good dish to be try it out.<br/>Garlic naan & Masala kulcha was so good. <br/>Chicken schezwan rice was not upto the level. Tangry kabaab with green chutney was good combo.<br/>Nothing left to particularly mention it.<br/>A simplified hotel with fine taste. U can hang out here to taste breads with gravy.

The best North Indian style curries in Adyar. The kebabs are the their Unique Selling Point and the non veg curries like chicken tikka masala are delicious. The rotis and paranthas served are also amazingly good.
Oman Office
The place is small and it's foggy inside and not comfy. They serve good kababs and biryani. I don't know about the non veg side but veg is also good. The ambience is just ok

Daawat is hidden treasures in adyar<br/>It's been for long time<br/>I am regular customer and tried all menu so far<br/>Each and every kebab wil be awesome<br/>Biriyani will be excellent<br/>Rotis - wheat parotta, tandoori roti, aloo parotta wil be good<br/>Gravy murgh dum masala, nawabi chicken (sweetish) it wil be oily but taste will be authentic<br/><br/>Overall food 4.5/5<br/>Ambience 3.5/5 ( over smoke feel discomfort)<br/>Parking 3/5<br/>Service 5/5

This place is near to QT grills ,in the basement , As the name implies they serve yummy kebabs and biriyani !<br/>i'm regular here for over three years now and have tried almost all of their dishes !<br/>its small restaurant with over six tables in which mostly 25 can dine in at moment. <br/>must try:<br/>chicken biriyani- its yummy biriyani with three chicken pieces mughal style.<br/>dragon chicken-its one of my fav starter here, chinese style layered chciken with veggies in sauce.<br/>tandoori chicken -its so soft and succulent pieces served with mint chutney .<br/>butter chicken masala and naan-this is combinatioin which is liked by most people and these guys serve it best here and worth the money <br/>overall experience <br/>ambience 3/5<br/>food -3.5<br/>parking is ok for two wheelers and for four wheelers might be problem in that narrowed street.

We have ordered <br/>Cheese kebab and achari kebab <br/>It was good. <br/><br/>Price was ok . <br/>Ambience was also ok <br/><br/>Could'nt find any exciting dish in menu

Daawat - The kabab shop..<br/><br/>A very decent place to dine with your friends. I just went on that road with my friend to try some different hotel. After few meters from McD, me and my friend had a tandoori of smell in the road. We were searching for a hotel at that point. We couldn't find anything. We just looked back and we came to see Daawat shop. That was the presence of this hotel. It was located in the basement. Parking facility was there.<br/><br/>We went inside. Ambience was decent. Service was very kind. <br/><br/>Coming to food, we ordered one chicken pepper tikka, one tangri kabab, one chicken biriyani, one chicken sheek masala with 3 butter naan. <br/><br/>Tangri kabab and chicken pepper tikka impressed at very first bite. Delicious 👌<br/>Chicken sheek masala and butter naan - best combination I would say. Chicken sheek masala quite a different try for us. The pieces were chopped in the masala. Taste was great. <br/><br/>Chicken biriyani, the aroma of biriyani was there. But, salt and spicy level could have increased slightly. <br/><br/>Overall, a very good dinning experience. The food they provide were amazing and totally worth for your bucks. <br/>

One of my favourite hang out spot to have some tikka. Used to visit this place every weekend during my college times. This place never disappoints you in terms of service or food quality.

I visit this place very frequently. Decent ambience, tasty food and excellent service.<br/>Not a big fan of Biriyani here but the 'Kushka' part of biriyani is soft and delicious. Definitely recommend this place.

Expectation<br/>In order to show my colleagues, how the best biriyani in town will look like, i ordered couple of Chicken and Mutton Biriyani's. My earlier experience suggested that Daawat's biriyani is better in terms of flavour and masala.!<br/><br/>Reality<br/>While the delivery was on time ( 5 minutes earlier than proposed), the quality of the food was completely SUB STANDARD .I was hoping that they would do justice atleast in quantity. Again great disappointment!!.. Just two small mutton pieces in each of the mutton biriyani parcels and we were wondering "have we ordered some plain Biriyani with some mutton pieces sprinked on it?". Again chicken Biriyani scored very low in both taste and flavour!<br/><br/>My recommendation:<br/>A big no for Daawat's biriyani considering much better & cheaper options like Aasife & Cornet in Adyar.
Dheepan Prakash
My friend and I were looking for a restaurant near adyar and found this. It's situated in a basement, decent place to dine. We ordered Butter Naan, rotis and tikka masala. Taste was good. Bill was around Rs.330

After multiple visits and countless home deliveries, here goes the review - amazing comfort food!<br/>Their Waquari chicken in the starter section has this super mix of spices, subtle yet something you always crave more for! All the kebabs are more or less good.<br/>For the mains, we usually go for the paneer kofta blindly alongwith multiple variants of nun. Perfect comfort food! More so when you are sure that they have really nice home delivery service!
Vignesh Banusekar
Visited this place couple of times for treats in the last couple of years and was not disappointed with the overall experience. They used to offer 10-15% discount for students from IIT which looks like an attractive incentive. This place is located in the basement and has a very small and dark dining place.<br/><br/>Being a vegetarian, I had limited choice in the menu. Paneer and mushroom gravies were good. And cheese naan was awesome. Having one bite of my cheese naan provoked all my friends to order the same. I heard from my carnivorous friends that all kebabs and chicken items were good.<br/><br/>Not much choice in the desert/beverage section either. Only soft drink bottles. <br/><br/>Costed 400 rupees for vegetarians. Slightly expensive. A good place for non-veg food.
Rayyan Zackria
You can here , if you love biryani or chicken side dishes . The only problem with the restraunt is its location and door delivery , it is located in a basement which is hard to locate and no natural light at all and the home delivery here is not good at all , we ordered at 12:45pm and only got our order at 2:05pm that too after calling them twice . I dont have any other isuues with this restraunt the quality of food here is good but not excellent, the biryani here tastes good but a packet of sweet will do for it to get the "excellent" tag . The chicken tikka is by far my favourote in this restraunt , other items are ok but the biryani and chicken tikka are the only ones which you should try . Overall you can eat here if you want biryani and a nice side dish .<br/>Must try - Chicken biryani and Chicken tikka<br/><br/>

Best Mutton biryani i have ever had in chennai. Thats all! nothing more to say. though their tandoori and kebab seems to very good for my friends, i felt it normal. and one of my friends favourite dish from this restaurant is Chicken szechwan fried rice. he must have had it like a 100-200 times.

I have had food from Daawat a multitude of times. I've been to the place as well as ordered online and I only have had pleasant experiences. When your tummy craves for some North Indian food, be it tandoors or kebabs or mughlai biryani and you want to have decent food for a decent price then daawat is the go to place.
Sabarish Elango
I order from here a lot. Though this place isn't the last word when it comes to flavour, all the dishes are quite consistent, and the food always tastes fresh and hot. Kebabs are very good, especially the Kabab-bi-Daawat, which is one of my favourites. Pity that the mutton biryani isn't regularly available, as it tastes much better than the chicken biryani. Both biryanis are quite spicy though, so exercise some caution before hogging it down ;)

Went to this place yesterday for dinner. Just a random try based on Zomato rating.<br/>Nothing to complain about, my rating is totally based on the few dishes I tasted.<br/><br/>Easy to locate, just nest to Odyssey, Adyar. Okay-ish ambiance and tableware. Was afraid we may have to wait since it was a Sunday evening but was pleasantly surprised to see the place not so crowded. <br/><br/>Ordered Kabab bi Daawat based on waiter's suggestion and did not get disappointed. Chicken was cooked well and I liked the spices. Paneer tikka was another started that tasted good. I could have skipped the Mutton pepper fry as it was not upto the mark, extra oily, nevertheless no regrets. Mutton biriyani was decent. Also had roti and prawn curry, prawn curry was really good, small prawns tasted fine and the curry tasted like home-made one. <br/><br/>Pricing is okay, doesn't not burn a hole in the pocket. Evening ended well.

Have ordered food here several times. Kebab bi daawat is the best of their kebabs. Most Indian dishes are the highlights. Punjabi murgh, chicken tikka masala, chicken biriyani, murgh Angara, kasturi kebab are delicious. <br/>The quantity is quite fair too. One thing they can improvise is their Chinese dishes.
Suresh Kumaar Jayaraman
This is a small place with decent ambience. Their tandoori items especially Kebabs were really excellent. Didn't try their other items, but I think their kebabs alone are worthy enough for repeat visits..!!

Value for money. Simple delicious food. I order from here often and I feel this is a very good place for biryani and tandoor dishes. <br/><br/>Delivery service is pretty good.

A small and slightly dingy place to accommodate 25-35 people, with very good staff and slightly better than average food. The Indian breads were good, so no complaints to that. Chicken Sheek Masala was nice (curry with the minced chicked, pretty much spicy inspite of telling them we wanted it to be less spicy), Murgh Angara (6-8 pieces of boneless chicken, marinated well but chicken wasn’t very soft). A decent place to have a meal at affordable price.

BEWARE- DAWAAT FOOD IS REHASHED & STALE!!<br/>Absolutely horrible. That's the only way to sum up the entire experience. And the arrogance of the morons running the place is another thing all together. Do not... and I plead... do not go to this place if you value self respect over pricing. They may be cheap but so is their attitude and service.<br/>The background story being a simple home delivery request, consisting of a full tandoori chicken and a couple of kababs took 2 hours to reach. And I stay 191 meters from the damn place. I place the order @ 7.30pm; called them back @ 8.30pm to know the status and they tell me it's out for delivery. I call at 9pm to enquire again and the guy on the other side screams at me for no apparent reason. At the top of his breath he tells me that if I have a problem with them delivering late then I can return it and he didn't give a damn about the whole issue. The door bell rings at 9:30pm with the order and I dutifully send it back. I was surprised with the attitude and then like a jolt out of the blue it dawned to me!!! Dawaat didn't give a damn if their home deliveries were returned as THEY WERE REHASHING THE SAME DISH to their unsuspecting customers who either dine at the place or other deliveries. So the dish is never fresh. I feel sad for the person who unwittingly ordered a tandoori after us. Pretty sure he'd be getting one stale chicken!!

went there with my 2 friends. Food was good. we ordered chicken cheese kabab, Egg pepper masala and CBM. <br/>Ambiance-2.5/5<br/>Food:<br/>Chicken cheese kabab- 4/5<br/>Egg pepper masala-  4/5<br/>Chicken Butter masala- 3.5/5<br/><br/>We also ordered cheese naan and garlic naan but the taste was similar to plain naan as the stuffing was not enough.

This place is Pocket friendly and the kebabs are great....<br/><br/>The ambience and Hygiene of the restaurants is bad... Dont feel surprised if u encounter a pest...<br/><br/>I prefer Home delivery than dining in here...<br/><br/>The Kabab e Daawat is awesome and also the Chicken Waquari is super...
Krishanu Banerjee
Certainly a good restaurant. Yea, Kabab dishes are its signature. If you are from north or east side of India, then u are certainly gonna like Daawat. Food is also worthy of money, so you can expect a good meal in moderate price.<br/>Rating updated -> Could not stop myself from rating it 5.0 !! One of the top three restaurants in Chennai (having spent more than a couple of years ) . Food quality is awesome..

Have not been to restaurant but have ordered food in zomato. <br/><br/>We had chapati prepared by our maid so we Just decided to have it with chicken kebab and order it via zomato. <br/><br/>Delivery - Prompt on time .<br/><br/>I ordered in zomato.Though Order is accepted Immediately  Service guy  will showed some reluctance. He would insist to order directly via phone. <br/><br/>We got Tandoori chicken full for 340 bucks - Totally not worth the money. <br/><br/>Adding to this there was a tax+Packing charge bla bla which was around 390 bucks. <br/><br/>Totally disappointed.  The word which comes to my mind - Kebab DROGAM :) <br/><br/>Reason for 2.5 is only due to the chicken which I felt was  not worth the bill <br/>but delivery, packing was good.

Poor ambience.. <br/>Place doesn't look hygienic <br/>Food was decent<br/>Chicken kebab was good<br/>Better parcel the food and take it home... <br/>Green chutney was very watery<br/>Rest of the chutney tasted good<br/>Briyani was decent...

I have been a regular customer since the time they have had outlet at Besant Nagar, with reasonable price they make some awesome kebabs... Biryani is strictly average, ambience and service is average

Daawat is my firat choice if i want to eat mughalai food .. their kebabs are the best in town IMO. Their biriyanis can bring tears of joy to you. Bhai deliver as biriyani every year for our family get togethers and its been delicious and the same quality for the past decade almost! Lovely aata ka paratha you would never taste something that soft anywhere else .. <br/><br/>Ps don't expect anything Spivey and get your self disappointed .. enjoy the food as it tastes .. it's amazing!

Awesome food! Ordered Butter Nan & Butter Chicken. Was delivered in 30 mins as promised. We had our dinner after an hour from delivery and the nan was still soft. The gravy was quite oily and high on masala but overall it's worth.  The serving was sufficient for 2. Pocket friendly rates.

Was in chennai weekend & we decided to give mum a break from cooking. Was going through multiple places but finally Daawat was the one! We ordered full checked weqari (4 pieces), mutton and checked biriyani, roti and paneer butter masala! Chicken weqari is their signature dish and it was completely up to mark and everyone liked it a lot. Read someone's review about biriyanis here where it said "nothing special" but not bad. Well said! Biriyani was prepared well - typical Muslim style and I would prefer mutton over chicken anytime. Roti was huge- one can have max of two and paneer butter masala was OK. Overall it came around 1100 and completely value for money. It was door delivered too 👌🏽

After seeing the reviews about this restaurant in zomato we planned to taste the food over here and ordered home delivery yesterday. Very quick delivery (20 minutes)The starters are really awesome but the biryani is not so tasty. The total menu is worth the price, pocket friendly

Food is oily. Chicken and egg biriyani not that good for the price. Roti and laccha paratha was good. Also panneer chatpata was too sweet which u dint like.

A small whole in the wall place in Adyar, serving good north Indian food. All of their tikkas are amazing and biryani is good too. Very friendly staff. <br/><br/>Basically, a pocket friendly, good north indian food in chennai. Its just a regular place and not too fancy. You wont be disappointed with anything. Stay away from their butter chicken though.<br/><br/>Thanks

In terms of ambience and appearance this place doesn't have much to offer but the food.....<br/><br/>Let's start off with the kebabs themselves. My favourite is the kebab e daawat. The meat is soft, succulent and tender. The flavour is beautifully absorbed by the meat and the mint chutney and onions that come with it perfectly complement the kebabs. Even the reshmi kebab is pretty good. The afghani seekh and the chicken cheese are above average.<br/><br/>In terms of curries I love their butter chicken, paneer butter masala, the daawat special, even the dal makhani is really good. Their wheat parattas are my usual order. <br/><br/>Not a big fan of their fried rice but after all this is a kebab shop so I can let that go. The service is quick and efficient. The place is also decently priced.

Wanted to try biriyani in daawat for a long time. Today got the chance to try it. Went to daawat with my colleague for a quick lunch. We tried egg biriyani and chicken noodles. Both were equally good and the quantity was also more. Definitely worth a try

This place deserves a lot more reputation! I've been going here for many years and I know the cashier well! Awesome service and the taste hasn't changed a bit. Kebabs are rocking here and not to forget the naans. This place is just awesome.

This is perhaps the best kebab shop u wil find in Adyar <br/>Their kebabs are really awesome.<br/>Ambience is good<br/>Quite place to have a peaceful dinner/lunch<br/>This resto is quite cumbersome but apart from that everything is awesome.<br/>Price is also too minimal. The best part of this resto is they charge you any taxes when you go for home delivery or take away.<br/>Don't try with noodles items ,u may nt like it .<br/>But try their different type of kulcha, curries and kebabs also the mixed fried rice.<br/><br/>

This is perhaps not a very famous place, and can be a little tricky to locate as well. The restaurant is nothing fancy, very basic interiors and atmosphere. Though it lacks the fine dining experience, it definitely compensates with its food. We ordered chicken biryani and weqari chicken. The biryani was similar to the one you'd have had in a number of biryani places across Chennai - nothing amazing but there was nothing wrong about it either. The quantity of the chicken was less though. Weqari chicken, as we were told by the waiter, is a speciality here. It was really juicy, tender and roasted to perfection - one of the best roasted chicken dishes I have had in quite some time. The prices are easy on your pocket too. I'd recommend for all non veg lovers.

Whenever I go to this place there is not much of rush here ,don't mistake it for not being good ..may be it's because of the location<br/>The taste is very good and the service pretty quick<br/>This place is a high end fast food with a little more than normal varieties, its easy on the pocket and high on taste<br/>They are best at sides especially dragon chicken and other gravy sides<br/>Their mutton dishes are one of the best<br/>Briyani is also worth trying<br/>Parking is not a problem because its a one way path and you have enough space<br/>They deliver around 3kms for free so that's worth considering<br/>Ambience : Good<br/>Service : Good<br/>Taste : Good

Daawat is one of the few places in Chennai that offers amazing .. cooked till perfection kekabs.. like their name - they r experts in north Indian kebabs and dishes... I would give it a 10/10 for everything expect their lighting and seating capacity.. it's a cozy place and I am a regular here for past 2 years.. Hungry for some great kekabs.. then definitely Daawat is the place to go.. !!! The management there is also too friendly and helpful. Kudos to that... !!!

We regularly order food here for office lunch, kind of order for 15-20 people... One of the best Mutton briyani in the city... We do order Veg briyani as well & to my surprise during our last order Veg briyani was tastier than mutton.. That was the over all feedback from my team mates as well<br/>The restaurant is kind of hidden (basement) & many might not notice but the landmark is quite easy... Their kebabs are delicious as well... <br/>For friends & family parties, bulk orders, office orders, I'd definitely recommend this guy.. This is a place to ENJOY THE FOOD!!! :)

We went on Sunday to explore this place!! And we did not got disappointed this time in Chennai!! What awesome tandoori starters they have!! Apart from tandoori their main course is also very nice. So people if u have fed up of eating the chettinad n some so called multi cuisine restos!! Try this one north Indian style place !! Which serves what they promise to deliver!!

Sweet Spot (3/5)<br/>The main reason one has to venture into this small place is their Arabian cuisine.<br/>Ambience (1/5)<br/> Located in the basement of the building with a mediocre ambience, this place might not score well with the premium diners. The service and response are swift enough.<br/>Food (3/5)<br/>I tried both naans and biryani on multiple occasions, nothing great to speak about. But their tandooris and kebabs are worth a try.<br/><br/>Need a pocket friendly place to try decent Arabian cuisine ? go for it !<br/>

The restaurant is in the basement and air conditioned.. Not much notice the restaurant as it has a relatively small board sign board. Coming to the food I had the normal chicken schezwan noodles and a few kebabs.. The taste was pretty decent and the dishes were filling.. I expected the kebabs to be tasting unique and gud but instead it turned to be mediocre.

Daawat the kabab shop as by the name the kababs and tandoori here tastes good. They also serve good briyani , its not a Hyderabad masala kinda rice but a different flavored brown colored tasty rice. I guess this is dum cooked with coal. Another basement restaurant on the service road was difficult to identify at first

Every weekend we order food home and this time we had ran out of places an was wondering where to order from and we were wondering whether to order the usual Chinese and then a friend said that he had seen this place called daawat on zomato and That it had a really good review. So it was decided that we would try out daawat. My my werent we in for a surprise, the food was soo good soo good, can't stop raving about it. The kebabs were juicy and warm and the gravies were nice and greasy just the way we liked it. The rotis were a bit cold but ten we were willing to over look it. Everyone who eat the food were full of praises for the food. Well it's certainly not the last time we are going to order from there.

This place is another fine example of - good food over everything else!! I was in adyar last night with my family and was hunting for a new place to dine and we were craving something spicy and Indian. I did a quick search on zomato and came across Hungrychennaifoodie 's review of daawat. As I was just a couple of roads away from the resto I decided to check it out. It's in the basement of the nuts and spice store and bang next to odyssey so spotting the place was a Piece of cake. We walked in at 8 pm and the place was almost full. It's a small space, which can hold up 20 people at one time. The owner was talking the orders and personally suggested a few dishes. We ordered half a tandoori chicken. One kheema muttar korma along with wheat parota, garlic naan and butter naan.. The food was served within minutes inspite of the place being full. The chicken was cooked to perfection with right amount of masala. The kheema muttar was yummy. And the breads were fresh and hot and right amount of soft.. ( yeah that rhymed) Couldn't click many pix as we gulped down the food in flat 10 minutes. 5/5 for the food. I'm definitely going back here soon to try out their biryani.. I even suggested a vacant place in anna nagar to the owner so that he can open a branch near to where I live. And, I'm seriously planning to start blocking places in Anna nagar to help ( read : pester) owners start a branch in my area.. ?????

They have the best mutton biriyani in the city. Have not tasted any other dishes here. Almost all the fridays I have my lunch here tasting their biriyani.

The acoustics of the shop was not too great ... The food was okay ... Too much of echo in the shop ... Decently priced ... Good for a friends get together ... Service was good ...

Kebab was good at a reasonable price. A good choice. It isn't so hard to find. We were 4 in table.. And the cost was 1000 bucks only. We thought of booking a table as it's Sunday afternoon.. But it was not needed

On a hot Saturday afternoon, decided to order in biriyani and parathas. Great idea since daawat obliged within 30 minutes by sending an old guy with my food. Best thing was the person who took my order was very sharp and didn't want me to repeat and repeat myself hoarse like some other dumbwaiters (literally) do. So there was my lovely egg biriyani nicely packed in a sheet within the box and my soft aloo paratha that I then ate with dhaal fry and curds. Will always go back to them when the biriyani cravings begin.

One of my favourite Non-veg outlets. Reasonably priced Kebabs. Tangri Kebab was really superb. You can reduce the quantity and order...for eg. Tangri Kebab you can order 1 or 2 pieces also...<br/><br/>Priced reasonably, especially if the dishes are shared...the aroma of wheat in Roti still lingers even now...<br/><br/>Quantity of Biriyani is normally very less, one has to use a magnifying glass to find out mutton pieces in mutton biriyani...Overall a good family joint...

Rude Staff!<br/><br/>I ordered for 2 biryanis and 1 kabab dish at 11.20 this morning and the person who took my order was courteous enough to tell me that the delivery will happen only by 12.45 or latest 1 PM. When i confirmed if 1PM would be latest, i was replied to in the affirmative and hence placed the order. At 1PM i called Dawat asking them what happened to my order and the person who picked the phone was nothing short of rude while talking. Rather than apologising for any delay (which can happen i understand), he simply told me that since they open only by 12.30, i should wait for another 15-20 minutes for delivery! He kept cutting me as i was talking, telling me that he does not know why they agreed to 1 PM.... even then no apology!!! while i read that your food tastes good; sadly i have to start eating it with a bitter taste in my mouth. Hope your success does not get into your head and you do understand that your customer is king! BTW...just received your delivery from Mr Taj at 13:20 Hrs and he seemed to be sincere about his apology.

We ordered for home delivery yesterday. Chicken Waqri, Prawn Masala, Chicken tikka masala. Chicken Waqri was awesome - tasted heavenly. Roti and curries were good, real value for money. Good place to order food from. Order was delivered within half hour.

Awesome food. Its value for money. Their aachari murgh kabab is absolutely fabulous. Biriyani undoubtedly a good choice at the Daawat. Tandoori is their speciality.

I've to write about this place since my roommates are regulars here and as a result I visit occasionally. Daawat has an average ambience but the food here definitely makes you forget about that. The veg here is delightful and the malai kofta is definitely one of the best I've had. They're known for their biryani but I'm yet to try that. I'm someone who can live on Dal so I can say that daawat has some amazing dal as well. Pricing is average and service is good.

The briyani at this place is quite good and I would compare it with Ambur style briyani which is yum...the grill and tandoori chicken is also good, though the place is small and dimly lit but the food is great and I have been following this joint right from the time they had a small restaurant in Besant nagar couple of years back.

Honestly, I don't know why this place has a lot of disappointed reviewers.<br/>The only drawback would be the ambience. Way too noisy and not properly spaced.<br/>Coming to the integral part; the food, was quite brilliant.<br/>I had the Kalmi kabab which was served with a mint chutney. The kabab was succulent and purely delicious. Chutney was a great add-on. I also had a garlic naan and methi rotti with a chicken gravy, (sorry, the name isn't striking) Garlic naan and rotti were great and had little oil which was appreciable. Yet, they were nice and soft. Gravy according to me was was just average and unnecessary <br/>Overall, good value for the money you spend. <br/>What I would suggest for those visiting Daawat is to pick a kabab, any sort of bread to go with it, get it packed and head home, have a lovely dinner/lunch.
