We decided for a buffet and after too much of discussion and search in zomoto we decided to enter into Ambika empire. First thing is the price is wrong what mentioned in zomoto. They are charging 850+tax but after discussion they gave a offer and made it as INR 900 net. That was first shocker at entry and happy for their immediate offer. They are not charging for the kids(we went with 2 kids aged 5 and 2 yrs). The ambiance is really good and it was almost full on the Sunday lunch. Even though it's buffet they have more man power who are ready to serve you on table. We felt too happy with their service. Coming to food less options on non veg but taste was so good. We loved their crispy fish. It was the greatest one. Their chicken was also yummy and mutton gravy and biriyani was awesome. On the veg side they were serving around 18 dishes and I felt the chef is super good on veg than non veg. So superb dishes in veg and they are serving raitha on bamboo. That was so cool and we loved it. Overall it was a good experience except the shock of change in price.

Prakash Jayandran
Pls donot try in this restratunt and buffet rate also high for 800 only two non veg and in dessert also only very less item pls donot try this hotel
Vaishnavi Jayaseelan
The service was very bad. People compelled us to take up the buffet which had few dishes. When we asked for menu card there were lot of confusion and they don't know which is there signature dish and what is special for today. One of the staff told they have only normal dishes. They are not sure which dish s available with them. On top of it we waited about 40 mins to get our food. The waitress & waiters were polite enough to hear us. The other person had a lethargic attitude which was much more irritating. Pls don't try their potato salads
It s completely horrible!!
Sandra Paul

Not a very impressive place. God quality is bit above average. Service is decent. Nothing out of the box to say about this place. Quite old interiors and could be maintained better.

Food was good no questions on it. When we checked they said only buffet excluding bamboo biryani and after few mins they are taking orders for a la carte for next table.

They missed my order for bamboo biryani I ordered and I was waiting and my friends already completed their buffet lunch.
Needed to request bill twice and it took them more than 15mins

Customer service today was not good when compared to last week

I recently hosted my daughter birthday party in Ambica Empire,Vadapalani and here is my feedback. To start with, the service was outstanding ... and Mr.Ganesh, the Manager really did a good job on taking care of my requests on specific Food Menu and the interior decorations made for the event lived up to present a perfect birthday party. The food was decent and nice. The Hotel delivered what it promised to me with no compromise. Definitely to be recommended....

Restaurant located inside ambica empire . Very old interiors . Not impressed . Service was rely good.

Mutton chukka- very hard pieces of mutton and taste wise also disappointing

Manchow soup- okok kind . Definitely can try once here

Fish manchurian- very well done . Pick of the lot.

Bamboo biryani- don't think they make it in bamboo. Feels like they stuff it inside after cooking. But taste wise was good. No complaints though Nothin special in it.

No choice then try this place
Deepa Manuja

The ambiance is amazing, the staff are very polite and friendly. The bamboo biryani (their signature dish) is really nice. The biryani is filling with good chunks of succulent meat. Must try
Anirudha.arvind
Came to ambica empire to eat their special bamboo biriyani. I must say it was great. It was nice and hot, well spiced, and to top it off they are not stingy with the meat. Ate to my hearts content, and being a big eater I was satisfied with 1 bamboo biriyani itself. I definitely recommend anyone to try the mutton bamboo biriyani at royal palate.

I visited this place last week. I liked this hotel very much. I'm impressed with the service of this hotel especially Mr. Sankar service was extraordinary. Bamboo Biriyani, varieties of chicken, juice & sweets was very tasty. Next time I'm surely visit this hotel. Thank u

Went there three days ago! Absolutely stunning ambience. The hospitality and services of staffs were too professional, enthusiastic and friendly. Especially Mr.Shankar who served for us was too friendly to us and helped us to select the perfect dishes. Moongil biriyani is a must try there. All other dishes were also awesome. The elegant ambience and the royal service makes the food very rich. Definitely a good visit been there. Menu is too unique. Quantity and quality of the foods were also compromising!

This is the restaurant on the second floor of Ambica Empire at Vadapalani. As the name suggests, the place has a majestic look to it. This review is based on the breakfast I had from this place recently. They have a decent spread with a mix of South Indian and continental cuisines. Continental dishes were not as good as the South Indian dishes. Service was prompt.
Karnavignesh
Its open round the clock. Especially the bamboo biriyani is one fine recipe to try out here. Ambience and taste is good compared to other similar restaurants nearby.
Shalini Puthal
This is a grand place. Everything is so Maharaja types. We went for buffet ( breakfast and lunch) and none of the items disappoint. Go have a hearty meal here.
Akshaya
I visited the place to check the moongil briyani out and it was surely worth the buzz they give you a 5 course meal which varies from a soup to a dessert to an ice cream the briyani is to die for mannn worth every penny you pay
Arivu Grinning Char
Buffet cost was better starters of the items was very less and expectation of bamboo briyani is not reach up to level like smell of the briyani is not coming that munch and taste is less only ambience was very raffish experience.
Karthik Raj

Royal Palate, surely name suggests what they offer. The Interiors of the restaurant are elegant, embellished with design touches from within the state with such royal ambience. The restaurant’s menu is voluminous. Bamboo biryani is probably the enticing food visuals which is why it came as no surprise that many diners were digging into platefuls of biryanis. While mutton biryani might be the first choice for many, bamboo biryani soaks well with chicken too. Biryani caters such fine range of flavours and spices for a sophisticated palates. The biryani rice is perfectly cooked with such unique cooking style and not missing out the authenticity of the dish. It's definitely a dish not to be missed for every biryani lovers and all. They've got the smattering dessert section but with oriental options.
Prem Kumar

Managers Sandeep and Sankar Kumar assisted in delivering great food and service to a large group of fussy travellers who loved the food prepared by Chef Vijay and his team who catered to the needs and tastes of the group of 6 sisters and their friends who joined them.
The ambiance was friendly - service was good, clean extensive choices of food for all meals and importantly made everyone feel comfortable and at home. High quality food with that feeling of being special and being at home. Highly recommend bamboo biryani, crab curry, fish curry. extensive dessert menu. Great food & service - staff and chef are the assets!

“The past becomes a texture, an ambiance becomes our present” This place surely deserves a medal for their royal ambiance. Been to this place many times still i was so curious to try Their new bamboo biriyani. They are only few little places in Chennai where we can get bamboo biriyani, make sure to put this place on the hit list, it’s not just an ordinary bamboo biriyani it’s even oil less. They haven’t used any oil for making the biriyani. So just hog much ever you can without worrying about oil.
Yuvi
It was a great place to eat.. ☺
V had buffet an bamboo biryani was delicious with 3 varieties of raitha. 👍👍
Service was awesome by manager Mr Sandeep.😊👌
He was very helpful an supportive and fun filled person...
Royal Palate located in Ambica Empire sure does go well with its name, As Royal as it sounds.

The ambience was very royally set up with Antique decors and Paintings on the ceilings. Dining in a Bungalow like feel I must say.

Some of we foodies were hosted lunch here by the Management.

Quickly getting to the Food, I was not so surprised by the Buffet spread but what Excited me was The Bamboo Biriyani, That has recently been the talk in town.

On the buffet, They had,

Chicken Dum Biriyani | Honey Garlic fish | Hariyali Chicken Kebab | Vanjaram Fish | and rest veg I didn't care. :P

Not a big spread but everything they served was just decently good enough.Started with the starters, The Chicken Kebab was too good. Perfectly marinated and juicy chicken. The honey garlic fish was a perfect quick bite. The Vanjaram wasn't that great though.
How can I Skip biriyani? Tried it, But didn't excite me much. I was still excited about The Bamboo Biriyani!

Tad Bit excitement kept growing as I noticed the bamboo stem approaching towards me. Huge blocks of Bamboo with Biriyani stuffed inside. It was an Art I must say. The way it was served was so amazing to watch. Steamy Biriyani falling off the bamboo.Ohh god! such a bliss. The aroma of biriyani took over me and the first spoon of it... Amazing. I did expect more of spices and Taste to it. Could have been a sure hit with more of Spices to it.

On the desserts section, they had the usual pastries, fruits and Indian sweets. Pastries were better than the usual though,

It was a fun dine interacting with the chef and the management I must say. Good service and Royal Ambiance to dine in.

Must try!!! Bamboo Biriyani!!! One of the least calorific biriyani you can find. It was flavourful, fresh and aromatic. Have it with the three types of raitha and the gravy of the day (Chicken/Mutton) and you honestly don’t need to have anything else here.

We were here for Lunch last week♥Easy to locate.
True to it's name it gives yu The Royal feel.!The architecture and ambience is so good😌❤
This is place specialized for its Bamboo biryani.
We tried quite a few dishes.Starting with Soup which was jus normal😊,Panner was Good😋, Chicken Lolipop was a bit salty🙄,Mutton and Fish were good too😊
Coming to their signature Bamboo biryani.! It was Okayish as the flavour of the bamboo was not so strong. When i askd abt this to the chef i was told that the biryani must be kept in the bamboo for about more than 45 mins in total including cooking which would give more flavour.
So,make sure yu order your bamboo biryani as soon as yu enter😂♥And yes they do have Veg,Chicken and mutton varieties🙋
Finally..! The desserts.! They had jangiri, bhadshah, payasam, pastries, and there's one special dessert which they keep changing everyday..!That was a good one😋
Service was too good😌They build up a good relationship with their customers which is appreciable.!😀
Sangeetha S
I went there for a lunch only for their bamboo biryani 😍 The mutton biryani was good 😍 and the chicken was okayish. 😊 They have four types of raita which was impressive 😍
We had chicken soup at the first and followed by the starters. The soup was good. I totally loved the honey dip fish which was too good 😍❤ The seer fish was not up to the mark.
The other starters were also good. They also have biryani in their buffet.. 😍 I loved their buffet ❤
And my favourite is the dessert part 😍 which is a hit. They have fruits, cakes, especially paayasam 😍 and even gulab jamun in the list. ❤
Coming to the Ambiance 😍 Omg! It was amazing ❤ And the Service was great! They make sure everything was served hot and appetite. 😊❤
Overall It was a nice meal 😊❤

I went there for lunch 😋buffet last Saturday they had a royal ambience ⚜️ as by the name.
•They served 2 types of chicken soup one was bit spicy and the other was normal •Then they served normal starters chicken 🐥kebab🍢 honey dip🍯 fish 🐟 chicken 🍗 lollipop they were normal with medium spiciness 🌶nothing new🙅🏻
💟The best thing was their honey dip 🍯fish 🐟which was too good 😊 💟
•Then they served a seer fish 🐟 which was salty 🙊and wasn't good though 🙅🏻•Then tried their Bamboo 🎋Biriyani (mutton) served with 4 types of raita the quantity was filling but the biriyani was okayish 🙂 the dessert was actually good they had jangiri payasam 2 types of cake then a apple pie crumble and fruit salads 🍉🍎🥝 overall they served an average food . 😇
Sarvesh Devanandan
This is located in a prime location and hence locating this place should be easy. I was there to try their lunch buffet last Saturday and have to say, the restaurant was just beautiful and elegant. They had wide variety spread, nothing new and special. Just the normal dishes that we are used to see. I felt the buffet was sligh overpriced for what it has to offer.
However, I really wanted to try their Mutton Bamboo biryani (Rs. 600) and it came with 4 different type of raithas; it was the best. Quantity was sufficient enough for a biryani lover.
Syed Dyan
We are very much happy about food and service and ambience really amazing
Specially bamboo biriyani served along with kababs and curry and rates are very reasonable we are very regular to hotel ambica empire tnx Dyan 5

I went to the Royal Palate for breakfast. Their breakfast buffet had a limited number of items in my opinion (I ruled out all the South Indian food on it as I’d been having it for the past couple of days.)
Their service was poor- waiters had to be given repeated instructions. The taste was just alright and the bakery items were rather stale.
Tarun Kumar
This restaurant serves buffet. We all know that. But, you must also know that they serve best sandwiches. It is very delicious. Nevertheless, European delight column is worthy try. If you think you had enough, there is always few deserts which will provide irony of taste. It's mouthwatering and appetizing.
Good one to take your entire family. Am sure they will be thankful for the treat.

This hotel was very close to our work place & I've bookmarked this for a long time. 3 of us decided to meet up for buffet dinner on a weekday!

Variety of food : Not so vast, but was satisfying!

Quality : taste - most of it were bland (biriyani - spice less & cold , noodles - frankly speaking, dint have any taste at al except for maida, chicken masala - had very strong masala odour and was too spicy, Soups - were good, Starters - were all Ice cold!
And Desserts - Disaster (except the payasam) the pastries all were so hard, kaaju katli had a putrid smell which we complained to the incharge who went inside saying '2 minutes, I'll check out' and never got back! :/

Service - was quick & they were all courteous except when we asked about the kaaju katli :/

VFM - Average

For the location in which they are, their ambience, the royal themed interiors, if they work on the quality of food, would definitely become a hit! Its just a one time visit place based on my experience here! ✌🏻
Situated in a swanky and luxurious hotel, this place disappoints to the core. The effort to make north Indian food went horribly wrong. Even the south Indian dishes were not upto the mark. For the people staying in this property this place does nothing good. Food is very very spicy and the north Indian food prepared here is no where close to the food we eat in north india, even not close to home food.

A lot and lot of improvement is required. Even the buffet is very repetitive and I stayed here for 2 weeks but did not find any signs of effort being put in by the hotel to improve the food quality.
Ashok Madhavan
DANGER. DANGER. You'll have absolutely nothing for the money you pay. Please, don't try this place. I'm giving this 1 star only for the mousse cake they had and for their service.
Melwin Xaviour
We went to this place two weeks back, we were in a pack of 10-15. Where we actually opted for a la carte. We selected this place since it had a resto bar setup but this is the worst resto bar and elite restaurant I went to the service was really the worst and the food was decent but was too late on the delivery. Please the management work on people skills. All the best.

Wonderful place to fill your belly with the wide spread of the Buffet!! Good service, good food!! Nice experience Over all!! Will definitely recommend this!!
Nikhil Asrani
Nice service although the food is not appealing ambience also is good overall worth for its price.will visit again, hope the management makes some changes with the taste of food

Worst food poor service I never seen such kind of worst food in buffet payed nearly 700 INR to eat 2 dosa. If you want to eat expired desert pls visit royal plate.

I took my wife for her birthday lunch to this place yesterday. The Royal palate in the Ambica empire is supposed to be located on the 2nd floor but as there was a function happening on that floor it was shifted to the ground floor near the lobby. Hence the make shift place was smaller with greenish lighting, loud television that was running Goundamani Senthil comedy from the Aditya TV and ambiguous air conditioning which resulted in the opening of flood gates in my sweat pores halfway into the lunch. Along with it the intrusive staff to boot, the lunch which could have turned out in to a distaster was redeemed by the high quality and tasty wide buffet spread.

Soup, 4 salads, 4 starters, bread basket, mutton and veg briyani, noodles, 6 gravies, a huge dessert counter with 6-7 desserts and ice cream make it a pretty huge buffet. Almost all the items were good. Among these I liked crumb fried fish, chicken kebab, mutton briyani the best. Each and every item in the desserts counter was excellent. The kozhi rasam which was served for soup was disappointing. It was very thick high on masala which overwhelming that it almost looked and tasted like a half made non veg gravy before the meat is added to it.

At Rs750 per person ( though it was mentioned Rs700 here at Zomato for Sunday lunch buffet they charged Rs750) with wide variety spread and good tasty food, the lunch buffet here was mouthsful.
Dinesh
The name dosent suite restaurant
No waiter will serve you as they are busy in watching TV or having small talks.
The food is not hot nt even atleast warm it is at room temperature including starters
I see others atleast had good deserts I didn't find any desert other than payasam
The gravy had more water, dosent have consistency. photo enclosed you see water in gravy
I feel road side shop is better than this
Not even worth atleast a penny I paid
My suggestion pls skip this restaurant

Royal Palate - Only Desserts were a Royal Treat!

The Ambience and service is like any other star Hotels in town - means - it's Good. I enjoyed the every bite of delicious choco cakes, jamuns, Fruits. I didnt like the Briyanis and starters as much as I enjoyed Desserts. It was an sudden visit. The Smiling face of the hotel people is a plus that guests dont feel out of the world.
Good! Thank You!

A not so great buffet but definitely not an worse one... The interiors are done with an extra care and it is nice nd cozy. The staffs are courteous and friendly but not such a great attitude. The soup we had was hot and sour which had watery texture. The chilli fish and haryali kabab was good. Rosemary chicken did not make any impact on our tatse buds.
The gravy was average methi chicken which was OK with naan. The aachi meen kolambhu was lik sweet kara kolambhu. The mutton bri was salty nd tasteless. I tatsed all. The dishes in buffet it was very mediocre. The desserts was big let down there was just a single flavour ice cream and 4 sweets. Over all an average experience feel lik abs buffet is the best buffet in town.

This is the second time in a week finding a same situation..While entering itself could smell... For a sandwich there literally took 50 min to deliver .. And the Buffy they offer totally waste... Uncooked rice and the ingredients were totally not up to the mark. I would rate in negative for this restaurant....

I visited this restaurant a while back on valentines day. So this review is only about my experience when I visited. I don't know how the restaurant has fared since then. I went there for a friend's birthday treat. We were a group of 15 give or take.
As we entered the lobby of the hotel, we were warmly greeted and shown to the tiny but decorated elevator. It opened to a corridor with a banquet hall in one side and a the royal palate in the otherside. We honestly did not know which was which at first. There was no one at the entrance to invite us or allot us our tables. The almost empty buffet spread at the entrance of the restaurant was not very inviting. We made our way into the restaurant , only to find it very crowded, children running around, full of noise, a lady and a man singing with loud music blasting. Even though we came on time they made us wait for a good 30 minutes. Even after we were seated , we were made to wait for the starters. Even when they served it we all hardly got one piece each. Tired of waiting we moved on to the main course, and found everything to be almost empty. The refilling was very slow. Briyani which was served was good. The chicken and fish dishes were the only ones refilled regularly. They were all very good. Even though the ambiance and service was a big let down, when it came to the food, everything was very good. I particularly remember the orange juice tasting really delish.
We planned to cut the cake for our friend and they gave us a sponge cake for free and played happy birthday song also. Cake was below average. Price was also okay considering they gave us a small discount on the total bill amount.
Food - 4
Service - 2.5
Ambiance - 2
Price -3
Tummy Happy Factor - 3.5
