Review The French Loaf - Chennai (Madras)

We were on a Cheese Cake hunt in Anna Nagar and this time we decided to visit French loaf. The blue painted building for sure was one reason for us to visit because normally I have seen French loaf in green paint. This was different. Interior space had 3-4 tables. They had a variety of cakes , muffins , pies , brownies , tarts , snacks etc Got one blue berry cheese cake and one Tiramisu. Blue Berry Cheese Cake was good. Tiramisu was also good but I will pick the cheese cake over tiramisu any day at any point of time. *Cheese cake veriyan you see* 😜 Pricing wise it costed us Rs.300 in total for both including GST which means the price is less the Rs.150 for one slice. This is the first time I am having cheese cake for less than Rs.150 and it was good. Will I visit again? Maybe or Maybe not.. because I felt the slice was small 🤭 Oh and they offer 1/2KG - Rs.700 and 1KG - Rs.1400 cheese cakes as well. Payments can be made through cash/card and UPI transactions. Note - Mentioned prices are subject to change based on restaurant and Govt (GST charges) 😢

Excellent shop but price very high not for worth of money eg. One puff 55, 65 something cake cost also very high but good taste and quality

The ambience and vibe of this place is very peaceful and subtle. The products they're offering is really good and tastes authentic. I've tried tiramisu and almond Crossiants. Both were really good. Must try place for good desserts.

Good and tasty cakes..they had cricket theme cake and I told them to make as football and they did it.

We ordered some wraps and shakes. Taste wise okay. Children like the taste and they usually buy pastries and shakes from there. Not too expensive.

Triple Layer Chicken Sandwich : The Sandwich was so good and since it is a Triple Layer Sandwich it is kinda filling.<br/><br/>11. Roasted Almonds : Almonds Roasted and Coated in Vanilla Chocolate and it was good tasted more like Normal Chocolate.<br/><br/>12. I went their to eat pyaramid pastry and paneer bun .... now talking about pyramid that was very bad and stale as well the apong was to tight as if it was 2-3 days old when I told it to the guy on the counter he said that it is fresh but when I showed him the sponge he became quite that clearly ment that he know that the cake was stale... secondly the paneer bun was stinking and again the bread was to tight to eat.....I really had a bad experience their...not recommending any one else....

We wanted a cake for a birthday. So wanted to try in french loaf located in shanti colony next to ente keralam.<br/>Customer service was horrible . The manager was soo rude.<br/>He dint care about walk in customer or people was dined in for an evening snack.<br/>Ordered a 1/2kg blackforrest cake . The manager was the person near the cashier table and was doing the cashier job as well. He dint give me the exact change . He had to give me 50 rs but later he acted as if he forgot and i had to ask him saying i dint get the exact change.<br/>I dint get a receipt either. Asking him for the receipt he said machine wasnt working .<br/>Hoping the cake was fresh wnet home but later found that cherries were shrunken n kinda tasted like it wasnt fresh n was old. Coming to the food, though its top class I don't have any idea why they are priced 20% higher than what you pay in other outlets. Service was above average. This branch is near blue star. Dimly lit like most French loaf bakeries. Their cakes are supposed to be premium and they are good. 8/10<br/><br/>The chicken mayo sandwich was decent 7/10

She said she doesnt have a new box to parcel for the 1kg Cake which i purchased. <br/><br/>When a customer is spending one thousand rupees on a cake, cant you people afford a fresh/new box for parcel?? <br/><br/>The place is not well maintained either.<br/><br/>Iam totally disappointed about the customer service in Shanthi Colony French Loaf especially when they are packing the fresh cakes in already used boxes.

French Loaf is an Amazing place to relax with your loved ones . A cafe that has comparitively lesser disturbances. I love this place but still reducing my review from 4 to 1 because of their service. I ordered premium sugar craft cake 1kg on 11/11/2017 & they were supposed to deliver by 12/11/2017 at 11am. They told me to wait for 10 mins for the cake arrival ,but it became 1hr and finally 2hrs but still didn't get the cake. My friend had flight & had boarded it & we could never celebrate his birthday. French Loaf is true blue child of Chennai. The place is clean, attractive, reasonably spacious, has a great ambiance, reasonably priced , good service and has a nice menu. The reason why French Loaf is doing so well is surely their Pastries. They are simply sublime. Creamy, soft, sweet and delicious. Their chocolates are the next best and then comes the rest like breads, cakes, souffles, puddings, puffs and sandwiches. Every dish has a special touch of Frenxh loaf. Only a handful of bakers from India can match up to what the French Loaf is dishing to its customers. No one bothers to answer the phone. I have been trying to place an order for a cake and tried calling the bakery. The call got diverted to three extensions and the only reply that i got was "the restaurant is not answering the call. Please try after sometime. "

Ordered a cinnamon bun and a peach iced tea. The cinnamon bun is definitely a steal at its pricing, and though it was not warmed up prior to serving, it was still good. The iced tea definitely left a lot to be desired, proportions gone a bit wrong and too sweet. <br/>Upside of this place - great ambience and steal at the price at which they offer the menu. <br/>

Myself and my wife came for buying vegetables in Kovai Palamudhir Nilayam (KPN) saw this place hopped in to have some cake. This place is easy to locate. Near KPN / ente keralam. <br/><br/>Can park your vehicle in roadside. Ambiance is decent. Have few tables to accomodate decent crowd. Service was good. They were courteous. <br/><br/>They were many varieties of cake displayed. 4-5 variety of eggless too there. We ordered chocolate fantasy and Red forest both eggless as take away. Chocolate fantasy is ok. Red forest is disappointing. Dry and rough. Not soft and melting as it needs to be. Taste too not that great. <br/><br/>Price Rs.85/- each is slightly higher considering its taste.

Well , we bought a cake for my friends birthday - It was Irish cake and chocolate truffle - I must say it was "finger licking" if u are a coffee lover then u would def love Irish whereas anyone would love choco truffle cake oh so yum !! <br/>Good and quick service ! <br/><br/>French loaf never goes wrong in their collections!! <br/>Also got to try their cheesecake ! Unlike the products they sell I am fresh out a bad experience with French Loaf. When I entered this place there were well dressed 8 people hanging around doing some odd jobs. There were no customers. This must prompted me to leave. But then I bought Chicken puffs and brought it home and found it was soggy and cold. I had bought pastry too.. now I dread to even open the box. <br/><br/>So if your buying at this place make sure if its take away you get to check the quality of the product.

They told me the cake would come out better than the picture I showed them , yet the name was scribbled over the blocks in meagre amount of icing when I specifically asked for capitalised alphabets.<br/>3. Beautiful place.. Great ambience.. Quality Patisserie's and great bakes.. The pricing it on the high end but i would say it is worth it for a try and best place for birthday cake!! It'll cost around 1.5k-2K for a kilo of cake..

This is a place close to my home and always inviting. I love the sandwich's/ the pastry of the Day, Vanilla Muffins and of course the Bread.Nice place with very friendly staff who are always ready to serve you and above make you feel at home by recognizing you and trying to help in making decisions. <br/>What I very much miss is the Crowich and the new sandwich that were introduced some months back. Was informed that there were not many takers. Very Sad.<br/><br/>Recently they have placed POP CORN for various varieties and I love the Katha Meeta and Garam Masala.<br/><br/>Always a favourate.

Their cakes are yumilicious. FRESHLY BAKED AND rich flavours. <br/>We delivered a coffee flavoured cake for our friend. I Just feel they have some delivery issues, it got delayed. Otherwise the cake was tasty with rich coffee flavour.

Once a very good pastry shop famous for choco mousse,blueberry cakes,choco cakes etc.,at present choco mousse and other cakes are not upto the mark,only thing which they have changed is the hike in prices of the cakes which is not worthy at all.totally french loaf is disappointing in both quality and price.

French loaf used to be our favorite pastry shop during our earlier visits,so this time we didn't hesitate to get box full of assorted cakes for the kids back home.. to our disappointment, Creme was pathetic..cake was dry.. husband said "next time let's just walk across the road and pick from mc rennet instead"

Great place for a bakery items. Loved it and everything was perfect as anybody would wish. I must mention about your Pastry of the day that’s priced at Rs.45 is really worth having and quality also pretty good I can say. Even though I have been to many French loafs this is the first time that I visited one at Anna Nagar. Nice ambience to spend time together with friends or alone and it seems that I am gonna visit this place often. Great value for money. Pleasant Service.

Been dropping by this place for well over 5 years and & I've loved it every time. Good memories with my friends in this place spring to mind . Can't believe I'm rating this place after all this time . Has parking for 5 cars up front and has enough pastries to satisfied a rabid sweet tooth. Their sandwiches are unique and their breads are gr8! Their bday cakes are to die for "Chocolate Fantasy" "Irish Fantasy". The place is cozy clean, well managed and can seat 25 people easily . Easter eggs are a sight for sore eyes but they get sold really fast, got to grab them before the weekend begins .

Exactly 2 weeks back I placed an online order for a 1kg chocolate whirly flower cake to be picked up from The French Loaf store in Anna Nagar East. At first I was very hesitant to order online as I was neither sure of the taste nor of the looks of the cake, not to mention the price I was gonna pay. But to my surprise the cake was ready at the exact mentioned time, and it was definitely worth the price. The cake was made of brown and white chocolate and was absolutely mind blowing. The guests at the b'day party enjoyed the cake a lot :) But I ate more than half of the cake :P It was that delicious :D

Ambience looks cool from the outside and attracted by the decor. When it comes to service, quality and taste, we totally disappointed with this outlet. The pastries are not so great and did not taste fresh, Brownies were dry and tasteless. The only thing we find french about this place are the windows...!

Been here several times.....mostly for take away.....as the service here is the worst......the staff have so much attitude.....the pastries are good .....that's about it......they don't know how to run the place.....that's why it's empty all the time!

A lovely quiet morning complimented by good breakfast fills heart and stomach. Continental you may call it , croissants , chicken / egg puffs, sausage rolls , black current cakes , apple pie , pudding , cheese cakes. Tat is a whole lot variety to expect for a breakfast in Chennai.<br/>Though I was skeptical about the originality and quality, they have kept it untarnished. The softness of the cake , the smell of the sausage was exceeding expectations. The hot chocolate was one drink which I felt tat they had maintained reality in. Loved the breakfast whatever it maybe.<br/>Not to complain but these restraunts are very late opening, u won't get these early even if u want it. Service was also ok but not bad. They never asked me if they want my hot choco in white or dark, they took decisions on their own. They can obviously raise standards. The one main draw back is these restraunts loose originality and start indianising their menu lik tandoori chicken n stuff.

One of the richest and finest pastries one is surely to be treated with. This place is our usual drop-by to grab few pieces of fresh-cream pastries and mousse. Pastries are soft, moist & flavorful. Strawberry and Blue-berry flavors are must try! And they do promise to deliver the most-beautiful and yummiest cakes on special occasions.<br/><br/>The place is certainly pricey! Yet, worth dropping by to treat your taste-buds with the yummiest pastries in the town :)

Dis sounds silly bt it does matter a lot for me.mild lighting provided a soothing effect. The worst place I have experienced in my life .. I have ordered the cake for my parents anniversary and I have told the correct date of the function wen happens .. On the day when I went to collect the cake ...I asked the cake is ready . they r asking went order .. Afternoon 12 is function I'm there at 10 to collect the cake but finally it not happen .. When I went there after I gave the order bill only there are making it .. Finally function was over without cutting the cake .. Worst service .. Worst ... Money alone they will get it correctly ..

This place is heaven for those with sweet tooth.every item is so authentic and perfect.I had pot de chocolate with chocolate spoon it was just wow. The hazelnut fondant is so rich flavors burst in your mouth. Apple pie was the best one which I ever tasted. Would definitely visit this place often.

Love this place :) ... <br/><br/>Cakes here are some of the best - moist and not overly sweet :) ... But I mostly drop on for the sandwiches and other eatables and then finishing off with a coffee (esp partial to cafe mocha :p) ... Pleasant staff and minimal clear decor ... <br/><br/>Nice place to have at a walkable distance from my home :) :) :)

French invaded the South India, and one thing they did good is they left behind a legacy of french food.<br/>there are so many places in south India, known for the french food, and this is one of them, and yet this is one of the best available.<br/>i like the muffins and the pastries, whenever i have visited this place, i have always bought some bread or the other.<br/>and this has always delighted my appetite.<br/><br/>the place is pretty good for snacks, but not for whole some meal.<br/>the staff is courteous and kind, and always friendly.<br/><br/>i would love to visit the place again.

I have purchased a cake last year for a birthday on Christmas, it was excellent and tasted very delicious. I ordered a 2Kg Irish coffee flavoured speciality cake which i choosed from their album, it was exactly the same as depicted in the photograph. <br/><br/>This year ( 2013) I went yesterday to give a similar Pre-Order of 2kg cake , before checking the album i told them that i wish to pre-order a cake to be delivered on the day of Christmas but i was informed that only Bulk orders are welcome at the moment and I was asked to come directly on the day of Christmas so that there will be many Chef's special cakes. I insisted them that i want to Pre-order so that i can select it from the album based on which i like, they informed me that currently they don't take Pre-orders. I was ready to pay the full amount which would be more than 2000.Rs , but still my order was not taken. I dont know whether a order of 2000Rs are taken as small orders these days. <br/><br/>I was very much Disappointed due to this, but still im giving a 4.0 rating because the cake i bought last year was Excellent and I'm not getting the opportunity to buy it again.

The french loaf at annanagar is not living up to the reputation of the brand,the cutlery used is not cleaned properly and the staff are not hygienic just wiping their stuffy nose with bare hands and the they take too much time to serve the food too...hope they will correct it soon...

Want to get the best cakes ?? Its french loaf .The best out of the lot is the chocolate truffle .<br/>Other than the cakes their pastries and breads are well prepared .<br/>Beverages are average !<br/>Service - * * *

My nephew ordered for me a cholate cake for a small function at home.To our surprise and shock we found that the cake was quite old and had started to decay though the chocolate dexoration was good.though we could find only when we tasted it, after the guest have left.When i reported the matter to the Annanagar outlet, they were irresponsible.

Went here yesterday, for a quick bite, after a longer, round-about travel after work. Ordered some sponge cake thing(forgot the name) and a Yogurt Blueberry Cake and a Diet Pepsi. The sponge cake was not upto the mark and was just ok. The Yogury Blueberry cake on the other hand was quite yummy and tasted pretty good. Called up to order an eggless cake but the staff was unaware about the availability and were laughing amongst themselves,shocked to see such people working with good brand,since it was such an embarrassment to hear staff laughing on hearing the order of eggless cake or whatever d reason they had wen a customer in on line is just too much for anybody to tolerate,so just wrote here so that the Anna Nagar staff's mistake shud be noted by their management,to be precise it was a female employee who laughed and handed over the phone to her senior.

Wow, is the first word i wanted to put on pen when i decided to write this review. French loaf has more than 20 outlets in chennai. I have visited 5 of them and the one in Anna nagar is the best of all. For all pastry and bread lover, they can never be disappointed if they go there. They have a good variety of menu (for a pastry shop its a real good menu) for both veg and Non veg foodies. And to everybodys surprise they are not expensive in any means. Mousse is one of the items which i felt is really good compared with many other pastry shops like Mcrennet. The ambience was awesome,since they have a pretty big place,with good air conditioning. Staff people were knowledgeable about what they sell and prepare,which i didnt find in any of the pastry shops. You can hang out for hours without anybodys trouble with some good snacking. The only concern i had was, there were very little option of drinks available. You cant expect the normal soft drinks also with them. Apart from that, this is an good place for all pastry lovers.

Visited this store at Annanagar, the eatables though good; were served ultra late thus killing the tastebuds before they could enjoy the food items...<br/><br/>Service needs lil prompt response, the ambiance is quite good for a bakery joint, availability of other over the counter items viz. Pepsi, redbull etc is a plus, but then lotsa green bills needed to fill in ur stomach...<br/><br/>My humble personal opinion, 3/5<br/><br/>1 less for delayed service..
