Review Fromage - Chennai (Madras)

In the remote bylanes of MRC Nagar Chennai,  holed up in the Somerset Greenways Hotel is this gorgeous little cafeteria called Fromage that caters to your 'cheesy' cravings. It has a pretty quaint decor with a huge parking space. The fare is a tad bit overpriced but what you get kinda makes you drool over. Service was prompt. Definitely garners another visit to relish the rest of their menu.

Food: Broccoli & Cheddar soup - Cheesy smooth cream of broccoli soup, THE BEST BROCCOLI SOUP EVER; the right amount of salt and pepper, that cheddar pull from the wicked smooth soup was ULTIMATE 🤩🤩 Sun Dried tomato olive tart - Sour dried tomatoes with pesto, olive oil in Shortbread tart shell; crunchy hard base with an oily pesto; had more kick from the pesto than the tomatoes, UNIQUE taste 😗 Bruschetta veg 4 ways - Basil salsa tomato with Mozzarella, Grilled veggies Ratatouille with Ricotta, Olives & Jalapenos in Parmesan & Mushroom in Cheddar That is a whole truck of cheese right from France; each one had a different taste, sour, spicy, sour kicky, and a bit sweet from the salsa, WOW 👌 Veg tower nachos - Handmade crispy corn chips decked like a tower with loads of cheese, sour cream, and veg nacho sauce, Pretty good since no hint of preservatives, GOOD ☺️ Chicken Parmigiano - Crispy yet tender chicken baked in classic parmesan cheese; this was all about gooey goodness along with the herbs and salsa 🥰 Spicy onion jam & 3 cheese sandwich - Pretty weird but was UMM OKAY at the end; sweet onions fried until caramelization with a hint of chili and loads of cheese, soft and crispy, sounds UH OH but with the fries, this was tolerable 😑 Caramelized onion & cream cheese pizza - Probably ordered by mistake but yet another sweet onion but with cream cheese this time; same taste, too sweet, spongy filling in a thin crust, heavy by the end 😷 Death by chocolate - A 24-layer chocolate cake with fresh choco cream and choco filling topped with choco fondant; this was everything that was missing in the main course. Fluffy, creamy and so damn good to sum up the meal 😍 Ambiance/Price: This is the best part of this place. It is conveniently located inside the Somerset building with valet parking. The walkway leading to the restaurant is always breezy by the night owing to the beach just behind the building. Table booking is recommended since there is not much seating space. The waiting time too is high for their signature dishes. But, once we were ensconced, the lighting, setup, and ambiance were grandiose. Service was good with cheese in every one of their dishes. But they are pretty high on the price scale with all the dishes above the nominal level (Quality: Price ratio tries its best to match it though).

Fromage is where you go if you are a cheese lover. Delectable food, great ambiance and friendly service. We tried the salad, some starters (Veg Tart is highly recommended) and a rather sweet caramelised onion and fresh cheese pizza. Worth your time if you are in mood for some cheesy food that’s pretty good. Also remember, this is a break from the spicy fare. If that’s what you seek try the Broken Bridge restaurant just a few steps away.

Fromage - Cheese and Cheese only!! It is a perfect place for cheese lovers. The dishes we tried were the Cream of Broccoli and Cheddar, Cream of Chicken and Cheddar, Monsieur Cheese's Peri Peri Chicken, Beef Steak, Crispy Cheese-Stuffed Prawns, Cheese-Filled Tortellini, and mouth watering Chicken Parmigiana😋😋. We also ordered their signature dishes - the Cheese Fountain with Chicken and the 24-Layer Death by Chocolate Cake. These two items are recommended for group outings, not for couples or small families, as they are quite filling/heavy and the cheese fountain is a bit pricey. Overall, it is a must-try place in Chennai for cheese lovers, as all the food is exceptional. They have separate menu for kids. We ordered cheese and mac ,penne Alfredo for kids!! The ambience is beautiful and pleasant. The average preparation time is around 45 minutes. One suggestion for the restaurant would be to speed up the preparation timings. Other than that, everything about fromage is fabulous.

We went on Sunday evening, the place wasn’t crowded which was a plus for me. We were served by Karthik. Food was amazing we had beef steak 5/5, homemade paneer steak 5/5. We also tried their dessert death by chocolate. If you really love chocolate go for it. Quantity and quality of food is good Overall experience was great.

An amazing cheese themed cafe/resto for cheese enthusiasts. There are only a few tables available, so it's better to have reservations at weekends. There is ample multi level parking space. The ambience is Fromage is really good, they have a few cheese dishes for display. Though the size of portions were small, the taste and presentation was really appetizing. The starters and main courses we tried were good. The 24 layer cake looked good but doesn't have multiple flavours in each layer. Different flavours from each layer would've been fantastic, instead of just colours. A good place with pleasant ambience and courteous staff to catch-up with a small group of friends.

This restaurant caters to cheese lovers. My favourite dishes are the thin crust pizza and the stroganoff, both of which are excellent and will keep you full for the entire day. Service is a little slow to deliver the food, and the prices are a little more, but the atmosphere is pleasant. I forget to talk about there soup which is favourite one ….. chicken cheddar soup if you guys are visiting this place then you guys need try the chicken cheddar cheesy soup 😍😍

This place is known for the cheeessyyy food items! The food tasted better when we visited for the second time. The menu has changed and all the items we ordered tasted excellent. The soup and pasta were a pleasant surprise! And the death by chocolate cake was really rich and it was a lot for us to finish. Would recommend the tall cakes if you visit with many people

Hello.. It was a diwali dinner hangout with my friends and we decided to try this new place called FROMAGE known for the Parmesan Cheese Wheel. Being a vegetarian we saw a video on FB where the owner states that Parmesan cheese wheel is only for making vegetarian dishes no animal rennet is used.. This got us excited and we decided to head over to this place. We ordered for Roasted Vegetable Pasta with Parmesan cheese wheel and Mac & Cheese... order took about 25 mins to come... and we were in hurry to complete our dinner and none of us would have thought minced chopped onion could also be MEAT! We almost completed the pasta and I realised a weird taste and when checked upon it looked like something else. The staff and chef insisted to take the plate off to the kitchen and tried to mash it in a way and to convince us it’s raw potato but they failed. What really shocked us was that the CHEF Was laughing throughout the incident. NO ACCEPTANCE NO CLARITY NO APOLOGIES. We, 6 people are pure vegetarian and never tasted meat or egg in our whole lives. We are spritually HURT and it’s a religion harm, We belong to Jain Community and we’re brought up with one message- LIVE And LET LiVE. We can’t even think of harming an insect and we were served a dead animal’s MEAT. What really shook us was the chefs behaviour... the owner wasn’t available at the restaurant so the manager tried to bribe us and pay our radio room bill which we clearly DENIED and told them this can’t be entertained. And the Owner demanded to have a talk over FACETIME?! No seriously we had meat in real life which is lying on my stomach. Finally the Owner arrived and was explaining things to convince us and was telling he will change things internally which is none of my business? My whole concern is my whole life the prayer I have done is wasted and now I can’t even say that I have never tasted MEAT. It’s a huge sin for a person like me+5 who are totally devoted to their culture. This sin which cant be rectified by any pilgrimage trip or fasting. This is not only restaurant where a vegetarian is been treated like this. We live in INDIA and where maximum population is PUREVEGETARIAN and these restaurants take it so slightly when they serve meat and no clear apologies or action is taken. Infact they say either it’s TOFU or Aloo. We are not so dumb! My only request to all of you is please Share and Support and this incident should never happen to any other vegetarian ever again and also if you know anyone from FROMAGE do TAG them to let them know that common man has a voice which can be heard. Their blunt reply and casual behaviour towards incident will definitely put them in trouble and I’m just wondering if they have served the same pasta to how many more vegetarians on the same day who failed to noticed this!
