You can enjoy Kerala dishes after an evening walk at Elliot's beach. You must try Kizhi parotta, kizhi biriyani,Sulaimani. Not spacious but nice taste.
A small hotel with authentic kerala cuisines. They have very good snacks. But make sure you hit at the right time before it goes empty. Surely not a family restaurant. Prices are cheap compared to other hotels at besant nagar.

A place to go if you want a variety of Kerala dishes. Had kizhi/pothi porotta with sulaimani and it was awesome. Loads of dishes to try. Biriyani was average.
Had Porota, Beef (nadan), puttu & kulukki sarbath from here. And they were very delicious. Spicy beef & soft puttu. Kulukki sarbath was also cool, but could have been better.
Homely taste. Being a kozhikodian, felt the taste of Calicut here in Chennai. Must try for kerala dishes.
