Review Anjappar - Chennai (Madras)

Zubaer Islam
We have tried Chicken 65 biriyani as they said this one is their signature item. Taste was good but not like signature item. There are 5-6 pieces of fried chicken inside rice bowl. Quantity is enough for one person. Price-265 which seems bit higher

Tried both dine in and take away. The quality of food was really good. Chicken biryani, mutton biryani, Fish Biryani, Vanjaram Fish fry, chicken grill, Lime juice, Roti, Chicken Tikka masala etc. Everything was good. The staffs were well behaved and the place was neat and clean. There is ample parking space, the restaurant is in the first floor.

The food is tasty here but bit pricer side. Kindly Don't order icecream here that's too costly for a scoop of vanilla ice-cream they charged ₹ 100.Porotta is not large but a single piece costs ₹ 30. And you might have to wait for sometime. Other than that the food, ambiance and the service is good.

Chicken biryani and paneer butter masala was good. Liked the food and service. Thanks

What did I order? Paneer Pulao Prawn Fried Rice Chicken Fried Rice Prawn Biryani Crab Lollipop Each rice was completely different with regards to its taste. I liked the Prawn Fried Rice in particular as it tasted real good. Chicken rice was good as well but not as much as prawns. Paneer Pulao was awesome. Crab Lollipop shouldn’t be missed. Though it had only 4 pieces, it tasted divine. It cost little over ₹1000 for all the above menu and we, the family of 4 were fully contended.

i been to anjappar for many years and the taste remains same. i love the mutton nenjelumbu soup, biriyani, sapadu, lollipop chicken and many more. they are pioneer in the Chettinad cusine.

Chicken 65 Biryani held up to the expectations. Veg Biryani was mid . The starters were tender and tpo notch . Price was okay to the quantity they provide . Overall a good experience

I had a very pleasant experience. The foods I ordered were adequate portion size and well prepared. The chettinad items were great but items like "paneer tikka" had too much tartness, maybe an effect of some local flavor addition. Pictures show a self designed plate with tikka-pulao-anjappa special chicken curry (9/10), list of branch locations, paneer tikka (5/10), mouth fresher box, cashew pulao (9/10), View from outside.

One of best friend recommended to taste it's restaurants special parota Kothu parota, so we tried both egg n chicken kothu parota. I preferred chicken kothu parota over the egg and it's very tasty 😋😋 n delicious 🤤

I Had a feisty non-veg lunch with my friend. chicken Biryani was good and apt in terms of qty. Nonveg side dishes were excellent. Chettinadd style of preparation was awesome. quite a busy place. A worth place with clean premise and washrooms. They got a good parking premise opposite to the restaurant. They displayed a variety of nonveg dishes.

The food here is not very tasty, especially for the kind of money they charge.

I went with my family of four (2 adults, 2 young children). We wanted a quick dinner. We ordered 3 Chicken Fried Rice and 1 Green Peas Masala.

The fried rice was bland and more or less tasteless. The quantity was somewhat less, and for the cost of 180rs. per plate, it was overall not worth it at all.

The green peas masala was especially awful. To make matters worse, they use those dried peas which are first soaked in water for a night or more, and then cooked. The peas were not soaked enough, or boiled enough, and they were quite hard. Not at all like eating fresh green peas. For 160rs. a plate, they could not even bother cooking the peas well, or simply use frozen peas, which is available everywhere. Cost cutting. Shameful.

Total cost, 740rs., and a totally unfulfilling dinner. After experiencing another issue with a restaurant in Egatoor (see my other review, posted together), this was overall quite mood killing.

Good place to have non veg food with Tamil specialities. We ordered crab but was told it's not available. But fish curry and prawns we had were great.Needs huge improvement in service.

For those who are looking for spicy nonveg food, Anjappar would be apt.

Loved the
1) Family Fish - spicy and well cooked
2) Tandoori Chicken - amazing flavor in the chicken
3) Service was prompt and responsive

Okay items
1) For Anjappar standards - Mutton biryani was a let down - but mutton was well cooked and soft.
2) Ambience was okay.

Didn't Like
1)Non Veg regular meals:
the Rice was overcooked and cloggy.
The crunches they kept instead of appalam was super hard. Everything was too small.
2) Current went off. Everything stopped. They don't have power backup. The billing didn't start up.

I am a fan of this place, tried non veg meals and chicken biriyani. Meals was excellent. I have never tried anywhere this much quality rice, its excellent. Other chettinad cuisines were excellent.

Anjappar is a brand that is globally well-known right now. Visited their Adyar outlet .Authentic Chettinad Cuisine.Loved the biryani .It was spicy and fiery ,with a perfectly made raita as accompaniment to cool things down.

Also tried thier signature chicken 65.Very crispy coating and the chicken was tender. The sauce was sweet and spicy.

Worst customer service. Delivers food after 3 hours. This one is very much appreciated. I have no words to appreciate the manager who never attends our complaint.

We been here with my family members... Its typical South Indian food we had... Nice staff and friendly atmosphere.. Quiet hard to park the car in busy time

Best place to have non veg country taste food!! You get all the curries at excellent taste here. Also you get pretty good taste in veg taste too! So if anyone of your family member is vegetarian, he/she won't come out unsatisfied. Peace ✌️
Mutton and chicken had here recently was almost rotten, felt sick n dizzy. Not fresh meat served. I fear how the meat are served fresh or refrigerated. Overall very bad experience.
Shivani Darji
My mind was blown by the food I had here. We ordered one mutton biryani, chicken biryani, chicken 65 and one fish dry. Every dish was amazing. Both the biryanis tasted well. And chicken 65 was upto the mark. Crispy from the outside and juicy from the inside. Even the fish dry was very well cooked with less oil. Quantity and quality was excellent price wise. If you visit Chennai do try this place out. You won't be disappointed!

It a good quick place to stop by and have meals when on a hurry
I liked the Dosa. It's a regular order of mine.
The veg Manchuria and the veg fried rice is also another favorite of this place..
Much needed non vegetarian restaurant in adyar. Good south Indian food and good service. Ceylon parotta will always be my favourite at their place. I also like their sweet corn soup. Nothing more special with themes or ambience but there’s no doubt about the taste of the good food. The right spot for a starving stomach.

Locality: 3.5/5

Ambience: 3/5

Food: 3/5

Service: 3.5/5

Value for money: 2.5/5

The restaurant is hard to find if you aren't keeping a close eye. Despite the large setup, any place can go missable in the service road. The place was more compact than expected. I went there with a prenotion that the brand is one of the best non-veg restaurants around. I felt a little disappointed with the quality of food, and the pricing sort of made things worse for me.

Ever since watching Vikram Vedha, the desire to try Nalli Elambu Curry And Parota was on.

Some how time went away until last week got to order the dish at Anjappar Adyar. Though the dish was not in menu, the supervisor took order when I asked for Nalli Elambu Curry And Parota.

The food cane and I was feeling great, however to my surprise it contained only Nalli elambu without any mutton meat. 4 or 5 big bones and great gravy. Had 3 parota with the same and paid 268.

Was disappointed with the dish that gave so much hype.

But later when I enquired with my friend who is a foodie, he said that normally Nalli Elambu Curry will have mutton on the bones unlike the one at Anjappar adyar.

So the desire again came to try at another chettinad restaurant and my friend suggested Madurai Pandian Mess.

So bad time at Anjappar and got a cheated dish.

The food was a lot better than expected.
Naatu kozhi soup - Not so hot but good.
Naatu kozhi pichu potathu - Good and different.
Kari dosa was disappointing; was excited to have it as it was the first time but it tasted almost like plain dosa.

Ambience and hospitality - Good.

This was not a typical anjapper style restaurant. The waiter was forcing me to order the food of his choice & he was not happy for the one which I ordered. They have a live barbeque counter and the food was not that great.

Food quality-2stars
Quantity- 0stars
Service- 2stars
Ambience -3stars

We went for lunch. My brother ordered one Chicken Briyani and I ordered one Veg Meals for myself. The Briyani was really great and well cooked. The meals was unlimited and I liked it as there were so many things to eat. Overall a happy experience as I was really satisfied with both the ambience and service.

We visited this place on our way from Chennai airport to Pondicherry. The ambience was really nice and waiters were friendly enough . We were given welcome drinks in cute little glasses. We ordered chicken fried rice, mushroom fried rice, chicken biriyani, garlic chicken gravy and orange, sweet lime and watermelon juices . The juices were customized to our needs. I found all the items delicious except the biriyani (which is due to my soft corner for kolkata biriyani.) The service was prompt . I would like to come back here and try other dishes.

the food was not good...the taste was really bad..felt like puking
Anjappar.. A place dedicated for spicy foods. Prawn biriyani was my favorite. I will look at the menu all the time I go, just to order the side dish. Main course will always be Prawn biriyani. But costly for a weekly lunch. 800 Rs for 2 people

Wish Zomato had a negative scale. Despicable food and ambience. Nothing to eat the chappathi with; oily and broken appalam pieces. Can't believe someone can actually mess up appalam. Cold sambar and rasam, messed up karakozhambu. And lemon juice in the end or should I call it lemon water?

Went to this spot for lunch.Me and my friend felt hungry and we expected more from this place.
But anjappar failed to met our expectations. We have ordered Naatu Koli soup(3/5), Mutton Briyani(2/5) and Prawn 65(1/5).

Totally not worthy for Money.Have a thought before visiting this place.

Poor Delivery, don't order here.. No courtesy..waited for 2 hours to get their poor tasted biriyani ..

Anjappar is the worst hotel in Adyar
Chicken was poor taste and half cooked..

They even not bothered to attend the call.

Thank you for Zomato for at least following it up...

Was there last Sunday. We were late, agreed
May be 3 pm. Didn't expect them to have the.entire menu. But they probably had left over kushka.
My hubby asked for chicken biriyani, and I wanted plain biriyani with may be an omlette

The food arrived, and lol.. hubby searched for chicken inside his bowl. Nope, Nada. None! Then the bowl was.taken back and returned with a tiny piece of one small starved chicken.piece.

And they said No omlettte. Really! A simple Omlette!

However the biriyani has the Anjappar signature. It was not piping hot because of the time. But tasted very good.

Add some.stock. Be ready for guests anytime, especially on weekends.

Waiters, don't just bid goodbye after the food.is served. Ask.if we need water refills and everything was okay. Customer care please.

Call Anjappar Toronto get some lessons 😊
The Pepper masala crab I had there about 3 yrs ago is a lasting memory. Yumm!

I do agree, Anjappar was providing lip smacking cuisines once upon a time. But now, the food is really pathetic. The more they started earning, the more they became greedy and lesser the quality, quantity and taste of the dishes are. Sorry to say this, my friends and I will never ever step into Anjappar again. So disappointing. The taste, quality and quantity have been constantly decreasing.
Medhuna Suresh
I ordered online and it got delivered some 3 hours later. I repeatedly called them to get the same response "it'll be delivered in 10 mins".
They said it's because the orders are high on a Sunday, in which case they are not supposed to take more orders than they can accommodate. Really disappointed.

Would visit here if i return by that way to office. Good atmosphere and good food.Service is always good. Parking will not be available for cars during peak hours and lunch time.

Not worth for your money.one bolied egg costs Rs.50.In this cost we get 10 eggs 😂 in market 😂.most of foods listed in menu is not available in restaurant.
Ashwath Paul
Typical south indian non veg varieties served. Must try crab fry. Their list of specials is definitely exciting especially the prawns fry and naatukozhi.
Soumya Basu
Non veg thali means thali and gravy without non veg!!!! Hats off!!!!! Please explain the logic!!! I am stumped... I can draw a lot of synergies with this logic but then people will get hurt!!!
Tony McGarrell
Very bad food.. was served with rotten chicken...horrible service.. taking customers for granted..they give explanation that biryani is done in morning n served till night.. and they sometime it spoils.. y do they give such food first of all..anjappar a big chain n bad service..
Crispystories
When speaking of Anjappar, I would personally rate their chicken/mutton Dosas and chicken gravies to be their speciality. The service is good as well. Although their Biryani is sought after, it only rates secondary, as I find it a bit dry and bland.

I have tried their Naatukozhi masala (Desi murgh gravy) and pepper chicken gravy. Both can never fail your taste buds!
Ramya Selvan
Worst restaurant i have ever seen ..... ordered food via zomato and after 1 hr and 30mins ... it didnt get delivered... when i tried reaching them the response was very poor as like we are begging for food and they are providing it for free of cost.. my suggestion for all.. never order food for delivery from anjapper. More over vast diff in the price mentioned in the menu page for dine in and zomato price for delivery option .

Note to zomato.... response from zomato custmer service was also poor. Y there is more than 1 hr diff between Approx delivery Time mentioned in the home page and time given after payment ????? Sply In normal condition@ (no at rainy or cyclone times)

A restaurant and its ppl should have been trained for basic customer service else its better to stay away from service indust ry.
Ashim Mishra
Worst restaurant in terms of delivering food.
Restaurant never deliver on time and even after an hour of delay they don't bother to receive calls. Pathetic service
Bharath
Had a very bad experiences. There is no proper parking facilities. Half of the menus were not available at all. I ordered one hot & sour soup and after 20 mins they are telling that it is not available. The mutton dum Biryani was some thing like.... the fast food shop Biryani will taste better It seems. Not well maintained toilets. It is not hygienic at all. I don't know how they are handling foods that too non veg. Please I prefer not to go to this restuarant that to particular branch.
Sohil Laad
Absolutely disappointed.... I visited Chennai as a tourist Nd specifically reserved dinner time at this hotel and ended up with a screwed up experience.... more than half their menu items on the menu are lunch items.... not sure why they are open for dinner in the first place....

Stewards who took the order also do not have decency to explain ...

They should close their shop during nights
Poorna Shankaran
Anjappar here has got the best ambience and their service is also excellent. A definite treat for one who loves eating non veg. But also equal amount of choice available for veggies

Personal Favourites
Veg : pudhina kulcha, kashmiri pulav, paneer tikka masala
Non veg : Sura puttu, naatu kozhi or country chicken / Mutton biryani, vanjaram fish fry (suggested by my friend)
Dessert : The never disappointing Falooda
Gautham Maheswaran
Good place to go to with fellow non vegetarians. Good ambience and interior decor. Good flavours in the non vegetarian dishes and they do serve decent vegetarian food. The ambience is peaceful, generally not very crowded. Good service and locality is easy to find.

When you the only veg-eating soul and even after numerous attempt to convince your friends, if you end up at Anjapaar , you know its going to be a not so great day ;)

Anjappar is the like what Saravana Bhavan for Vegetarians.. and its a got to place to my friends. And i did happen to taste a few veg items which fared decent .

Orders :
Vegetable Kottu Parotta : Kottu parotta's usually have egg mixture in it , but after confirming some 100 times, i ordered this , visually it was stunning , and had the correct oil coating, BUT, i somehow didnt enjoy the taste, it had some nauseating order and the veggies were half cooked. ( i always made my mind that im going to starve for the day ) Mushroom Fried Rice : This was ordered by my friends , to balance the very spicy Mutton Sukka, so i happen to taste only the rice, may be i was starving or was the rice really good ! ( Usuage of oil and the veggies were to perfection, it was not heavy , so i ordered a plate of Gobi 65 along and it tasted favourable. )

For dessert we ordered Kulfi Falooda , It was more like Kulfi milkshake with china grass. still passable.

Overall :

Non- veg orders : 4/5 ( Friends totally loved it )
Veg : 3/5
Price and Quantity : 4/5
Srijita Chakrabarty
Nice place and decor. Prominent location. Taste was good.
The staircase is outside the main building by which one has to reach their first floor dining area. I'm not sure whether they have a provision for lift (I didn't see any directly). Hence this might be difficult for some people or elderly people or even during unfavourable weather conditions.
Food wise, we were the first to enter for the lunch session and it took quite a long time for the food to arrive. Taste wise it was good though.
Sri
Went at 10 30pm
Zero crowd
Decent ambience
Clean plates
Service was good
Lollipop was a bit oily..
Prawn Briyani was good
Egg Briyani was okay...
Air conditioning was not comfortable
Hot water served had a funny taste...
Parking can be an issue during rush hours..

Good place to have authentic South Indian non veg delicacies. I came here on a fine evening after work.
They first serve you welcome drink in a small cup. I had ordered Mutton kola urandai, chicken biryani, Ceylon egg parota and fish fry.
It was my first time experience of having kola urandai and I was disappointed. I expected to be something like a cutlet.
Biryani was just fine. Long rice, not so spicy, big piece of chicken, thick raita and gravy.
Ceylon parota is something that stole the show. Soft and crisp parota from top and egg filled inside.
Fish fry was average. My experience with fish in Buhari was better.

Food: 3.5/5
Ambiance: 4/5
Service: 4.5/5

one of the best and craziest place ive known from childhood for non veg food and it sounds like they r open forever fr many years serving great food with lots f non veg varieties

Most unexpected visit to this dine.
Food- Chicken Biryani: Biryani was well smoked with chettinad spices, perfectly cooked well seperated rice, chicken was tender and full of flavours. The side servings were good enough to add a charm.
Tomato shorba: Tangy tomato gravy with crutons.
4.5/5
Ambience- 3.5/5
Service-5/5
So disappointed! It is one of the most famous restaurant chains in Chennai, and Tamil Nadu too, I guess, but the food here was absolutely not up to the standard. I ordered its famous Chettinad Chicken. The dish didn't taste good. The gravy was not well mixed, the ingredients didn't seem well integrated. I have been in Chennai for just one month, and I have had much better Chettinad Chicken. Then we also ordered Reshmi Kebab. These kebabs are known for their soft texture and their white coloured marination. But what before us was a big blob of yellow. They have this thing where they wrapped the kebabs in an omelette. A much fluffier and tangier omelette. Sadly the tanginess rubbed off on the chicken inside and the kebab tasted a little sour.
Overall the ambience was good, a nice family restaurant. But make sure you ask the manager about a dish before you order it.
Apoorv Jain
Worst veg food I have ever eaten. They don't know how to present the dishes and taste is very bad. The price and taste are in opposite directions. Not worth to take a dinner here better to go to any other place.
Vedhasafoodie
Went to this place to have dinner with my family earlier this week. Everything about this place is commendable except for the hygiene that's followed (probably it was late, but hygiene is hygiene)

The waiter had served chutney to our table and was taking it back to the kitchen when the spoon fell down and hit the floor. Instead of replacing it with a newer one, he proceeded to put it back into the contents.

I urge the hotel administration to look into the incident.

The food however was commendable and I have no qualms about that.

I have visited this place number of times with my friends and tried online ordering twice.. I always wanted to write a review for this Anjappar genre of restaurants..

I still dont understand, why anjappar is having such a fame??? Is it because its a large chain of branded restaurant?

In my last two online orders, I opted for NV meals and chilli chicken parota.

The meal always get delivered promptly (Thanks to Zomato and their tie up with runnin)

The quantity of the meal is sufficient for 2-3 ppl ... Chicken gravy, mutton gravy, fish gravy, rasam, butter milk with a starter and two side dish...

I seriously doubt, whether some machine is cooking food for them... all the gravies tasted awful... Rasam... omg worst ever i have ever had... Butter milk they serve , ll be like cheery on the top of their other stuffs... Zero rating for the taste of the meal they serve..

Chilli chicken parotta is a saver in disguise.. saved me from starving... Its good to be honest,,

If you go as a group

I suggest ppl to taste their falooda... it tastes good...

Ambience - 4/5
Taste - 3/5 (0/5 for meals)
Cost - 2.5/5
Service - 2/5
qualtiy - 3/5

I visited this place with my husband in the afternoon. He had a 'full meal platter' where they served him a lot of vegetarian staples with unlimited rice. Alongside he ordered a Chicken 65 to satiate his non vegetarian cravings. I had the Anjappar special Chicken curry. It was lovely. I really love kal dosas, but they do not serve those at noon. So I was a tad disappointed. Ditto with the appams. The food was lovely. But I suggest visiting in the evenings. That way you will get to savour a wider variety.
Joseph George
Food is good and reasonable. Crowded on weekends.. did the mistake of ordering online and took 2 hours tat too after repeated reminders and follow ups.
Karthika M
Anjappar serves you with strands of hair in your biriyani. And the waiter bills you for the biriyani with hair. We had ordered Anjappar spl chicken dry, the quantity was so less. Nothing too much to rave about.
Deepannita Ghosh Hazra
Surprised that even after almost 2 hours we have not yet received our order.
The most pathetic is that we need to call numerous times the restaurant guy to check the order situation. Finally, they were so irritated that they told us not to call again and gave us the delivery guy's number to check the situation by ourselves.
Totally very disappointed by the service & will surely think twice before ordering through zomato again.
Asvin Vidyasagar
Have been here with family quite a few times. The food tastes good. And the quantity is right for the price. A total family restaurant serving good quality food.

Horrible place (Anjappar Adyar) , I have had food in many places including road side shops but no one has served me rotten chicken.

Ordered pepper chicken gravy for take away, chicken was in a state that it couldn't be eaten, called them to report about it, they immediately sent a person with a replacement box of the same dish it was rotten as well.

I directly went there they said they would again replace, I said please give the money back but they said pls give a chance and gave another replacement box, I tasted it there itself and it was rotten, god! would never go there again!

Got the money back and said thanks for the service!
Ashwin Prashanth
We ordered Biriyani, mutton chukka, vanjaram fry. Biriyani was Ok., mutton chukka expected much, dissapointed. Vry little quantity, hardly 10 small pieces f candy size. I have had mutton chukka n Junior kuppana, dey serve d best one.. Vanjaram fry taste was gud, guess it s tawa fry, dnt gt fried completely.
Suggestion : Whn quantity like mutton chukka s being served, serve it n closed oval or rounded bowl wit little depth. Serving n plate dissapoints fr quantity.
Thankyou

They welcome you with amazing shots of grape, pineapples and variety of juices ! They come in shot glasses. Tried chicken briyani, which is same as the other branches ! Anjappar Spl chicken masala was spicy and too good.Overall rating 4/5ambience 3.5/5food 4/5service 3.5/5

Visited here multiple times. No compromise for the taste every single time.
We ordered fish biryani, pepper chicken, prawn egg masala, chicken 65 biryani and rotis. Everything tasted damn good and the service was also quick.

worst customer care . i ordered my food one and a half hour ago and still dint get my food i called like 4 times to ask what happened .but they said nothing about the food and irritated by saying i will cal back and confirm which they dint do . we had to starve for a while .i am very upset with the way they deal with the customers..

Had the food delivered home. Items wee chicken biryani and Paneer tikka. Panner tikka was excellent since the panner was marinated well and was soft. Biryani was the usual nothing extraordinary.

Good food, a little bit oily but tasty. Enjoyed the non veg platter, hot fresh whole wheat phulkas, with excellent non veg dishes, falooda was tasty, cost reasonable, service was good

I had been to an Anjappar outlet (don't remember where) some 2 years ago and I had stayed away from them ever since. But visited this place with my friends, 10 of them, a few days back.
Had non-veg meals and lots of side dishes. None of them deserve a special mention except `sura puttu` a delicacy that was available on that day alone. The quantity of any side dishes (esp. sea food) that you buy is very less. I feel their famous Chettinad meals also lost it's punch.
Food Quality: 3.5/5Food Quantity: 3/5Service: 3.5/5Ambience: 3.5/5Cost:3/5
All in all, I would visit the place only if I don't have any another option nearby.
Sathyanarayanan G
Had Mutton biriyani, Fish tikka, Chicken 65 and lemon soda. Everything was just above average for the price of 800. The mutton pieces could be better and the biriyani went well with the chicken chettinad gravy which was given as side dish. Fish tikka was a bit sweeter and Chicken 65 could be even better. I had tried Nethili fry here earlier which was better but was unfortunately out of stock yesterday. :-(

This Anjappar branch is very near to my office. So I visit this place often. But of late, the service is very bad. The waiters are so lethargic and slow. I had to wait for 15 minutes to get my water glass filled and this is not the first time I am facing this here. The group of unhappy waiters must be taught to treat customers. Even if they see us calling them, they would turn away. Their food is good. No doubt in that. But their service is pathetic. The management has to look into this ASAP. Food 4/5, Service 1/5, Ambience 3/5

I was thoroughly disappointed with anjappar, adyar branch... we ordered for cream of mushroom soup which was rather sweet... and then we had ordered for karaikudi chicketn which was good enough but there was nothing special about it.. next came the biriyani which was also ok types... we had ordered for veg meals for our parents and we repeatedly told them that we need veg meals, however they ended up serving non-veg meals... and we had to ask them to change that... chicken drumstick was the only dish that tasted good... asked for a lemon soda which was served along with the bill... service is very poor and they are not so attentive as well.. overall a bad experience with anjappar...

Poor Service..

I never start my review like that but I have too.. I checked in just now and ordered a chicken Ceylon parrotta and waited for 15 mins. But was kept in my table then was a egg veechu parrotta. I called the guy who took the order. He then apologised and said will bring me the dish I wanted. 15 min later, he came and told me the cook who makes the dish wasn't there. The restaurant wasn't even crowded to make mistakes in order. They completely spoiled my mood of eating there. Just came out and I'm here at wangs kitchen.

Hello buddies.. The worst staff behaviour and worst service in anjappar adyar branch.. We have ordered virunthu meals which costs approx 350INR, I asked to serve ghee. But they had charged for ghee separately, whereas the ghee is serving free of cost in bangalore indira Nagar anjappar branch. The staff in adyar branch are very cheap behaviours, they didn't give one more piece of pappadam when I asked. But I got 3 pappads in bangalore indira Nagar anjappar branch whenever I ask. So please don't waste money and respect in anjappar restaurant located in adyar branch. They are not worth at all.

I was so pleased with the ambiance of the restaurant. Spacious seating and so much of cleanliness. Welcome drink was served. Ordered typical Chettinad chicken biriyani. Authentic taste I should say! But the quantity is less fit what we pay. Overall satisfied. Will look forward to dine in.

Placed an order online but the restaurant rejected saying its too busy. Then why they are allowing online orders. It was my first order after hearing reviews from my friends. No more online order for this restaurant.@

Went to anjappar with my colleagues for lunch. We first ordered soup(mutton soup, chicken soup, veg clear soup). All soup we ordered were really average. Then we ordered chicken lollipop, prawn masala, grilled chicken, fish fry(vanjeeram). Starters were ok but not very appealing.

I have visited for a lunch orderd Egg Briyani, after 15mins waiter came and siad briyani is not available and then i have ordered the szechuan noodles, the worst noodles in my life time.

They have given the billed for Egg Briyani and szechuan noodles the different waiter has came and given the bill. The previous waiter has forgot to cancel the egg briyani. Second waiter has came and screaming me to pay the bill. The worst in service.

Tables too close, service not great.. Food good.. Ok, my family liked it as they were having meal for the first time.. I thought could have been better.. We ordered a veg and a popular non-veg meal. I think better option would have been regular non veg with some side dish.. Don't think would be too keen to return to this specific restaurant anytime soon..

Yesterday (07.09.2015) me with my 4 buddies went to Anjappar (Adyar branch). We ordered 2 crab pepper water soup and a tomato soup, which was served after 1/2 an hour. and our main course was 4 regular non veg meals with a plate of Nethli fish fry, a plate of turkey roast and a veg meal with Gobi manchurian dry. Franky speaking 20 rupees tomato soup we get on roadside shops should taste much better than the one that was served to us. The main course was served after 20 minutes and the servers were not helpful at all and coming to the side dishes ( turkey fry and gobi munchurian dry )it was really cold so we need to return it to get it heated, and we were so irritated the way they handle their customers for every curry we need to keep asking them atleast 4-5 times and we witnessed a customer next to our table with heated argument with the server for the same reason and coming to the payment part we were made to wait for atleast 25 minutes and later they told us their swiping machine was not working so we went to nearby atm to withdraw cash to make payment. overall it was a horrible and irritating experience and it doesnt go down well especially when you are hungry and this would be the last time i visit a anjappar in india and abroad. Will never recommend anjappar chettinad to any of my friends going forward.

A good chettinaad restaurant. This branch dont serve meals, that why 3.5.

The place is a good sit out and their live bar beque in the evening is super with good portion size too. Biryani and everything in the menu is decent. If you are looking for a chettinaad cuisine, dont look further. It is a feel good place, light on pocket with good food.

Thanks

Hi friends, It's a well known place for non-veg
But they are do something special for chettinadu and karaikudi spicy dishes only,
Chinese and tanthoor items, they need some improvement.
Chicken barbeque is total collapsed,
But table arrangement, lighting, and Cleanness are good.

Anjappar has been in my wife's wishlist for a long time, while it has been on my not-to-go list forever. But then you know who wins. My mind was set on Bombay Brasserie, but not this time. I will have to wait for some more time for that.

Having been to so many Chettinad restaurants right from my young age, Anjappar never caught my imagination. There is nothing that sets this place apart and it is yet another Chettinad restaurant. Anyways, after shopping we went to this place recently. It is situated right next to Eagly Boyz Pizza and opposite to Reliance Trends.

From outside it looks nice, a you climb a flight of stairs to reach the restaurant. A huge guy dressed up like the "Statue Guy" in VGP Golden beach welcomes cordially with a Vanakkam and opens the door. The moment I stepped in a strong stench of non-veg hit my nostrils and was put-off immediately. Make no mistake, having married a girl who is a hardcore non-veg I go to various restaurants with her. I have not found this unpleasant smell in other Chettinad restaurants. I lost my appetite straight away.

I ordered a ghee dosa and mushroom chilli. Wife ordered a mutton biriyani and prawn fry. Ghee dosa was awesome, HSB charges double the amount. Mushroom chilli was quite alright, expected it to have tiny piece ensconced in a huge cocoon of batter. But surprised to see that the pieces were large enough. Wife liked the biriyani but somehow the prawn did not live up to her expectations. The masala specifically tasted burnt according to her.

Well known for Non veg food. You will find south indian Non veg dishes which are fabulous. Prices are on a higher side. Good ambience and a place to hang out with family.

On my way back home my friend who tagged along was so hungry we stopped here for a early dinner... The place was not so crowded since it was just 7 pm but still we were insisted to sit on a small table along the glass wall.... Not enough place for the plates and water bottle..... Ordered for stuffed naan, mutton chukka and mutton kothu parotta with watermelon juice... That's the last time I saw the order taker... After that he never turned towards us even to ask for desserts or bill... We gelled ourselves to serve the food in that small table and had water directly from bottle since it was hard to pour the bottle into the glass due to space constraint.... Now for the food, naan was good as usual, sukka masala was tasty, enough hot and spicy, mutton kothu parotta was the worst ever food I had in Anjappar...... Was so dry, and mutton was Over cooked... We waited for the bill for 10 mins and then a guy asked us if we need anything.... We just paid and came out, heading to cream and fudge for the dessert part... Nungambakkam Anjappar had never failed in amusing me but this one yuck..... Even at billing they gave back 3 rupees short and didn't bother informing me that they didn't had change... And also the bill didn't had mutton kothu parotta in it and the waiter requested me to pay just like that and when I asked him why he wrote the dish name and it's price and included it in the grand total without tax for it... Might be something fishy....

Anjappar is known only for it's chettinad. I should have thought about it before ordering the mutton briyani. I went here with my family and we all ordered different kinds of dishes. So I got to taste everything. The fish finger was the one dish I loved the most. The chicken lollipop was okay. Very much regretted the mutton briyani that I ordered. Others in my family ordered all other chettinad items and they enjoyed it well. The mutton brain varuval, mutton masala and the chicken chettinad are very much recommendable.

The kitchen built with the see thru glass windows is good to know that they are maintaining the place, especially the kitchen well and aren't afraid to show it to the public. The dining area is clean as well. The service was good and really quick. I feel like the price is okay for the main dishes but the side dishes seem to be a tad costly.

If you are ever visiting this place, I would recommend you to stick with the chettinad items.
All Day Hungry
Anjapar -as always been my second home since when the Besant nagar branch was opened .this was one of first restaurant liked and preferred by my family and we go there regularly almost two or thrice in a month and when that branch was closed due to some reasons we were hopeless this happened in 2013 and right after four months the Adyar branch was opened the taste differed a lot in the beginning and I thought It will became the same after few months And it did happened this place is right for good South Indian dishes especially chettinad .
But now am sharing my experience of last visit -I had mutton biriyani , fish finger , chicken lollipop , strawberry milkshake .
All tasted very average , i doubt they changed their head chef
Biriyani was very average with less quantity , chicken lollipop was extremely crispy ,fish finger was okay okay . I used to love their fish finger before .
So I would say if your really hungry when your somewhere around Adyar or Besant nagar and craving for chettinad food , can try out here ! But the taste and standard had a changed a lot .
Service -3
Food 3.5/5
Parking 4.5/5
Ambience -4/5

Name : Anjappar
Location : Adayar
Cuisine : South Indian
Service : top notch
Ambience : Ok'ish

I have a resistance towards restaurants who turn out to be franchises,My mind is incepted with the thought that once they grow their wings their quality plunges towards enigma, and fair to say that it's a
Proven agenda the initial burst always dies down , be it Buhari or Saravana Bhavan
Anjappar Adayar to me was a oasis in the desert of uncertainty,
Pros : Service was courteous and prompt, was it because of the less numbers of patronage ? Never mind !! It was good, and when you see a waiter with a genuine smile and doesn't look a tad artificial and being genuine that to me is another oasis in desert, We hardly find people who are passionate in what they do when it comes to waiting tables. food was tasty, the thala curry was flavourful, Karimeen was good yet don't know the idea of why they serve freedom fries with those ?? Desserts were great too except the kulfi was like a rock ... Tasted decent.

Cons: The Kada Biriyani was good not bad at all , yet I sense that it's just kuska mixed to a masala Quail, the portion size is how ever the question for me, 1 piece of Nalli in a paya which is 200₹ sure can't be justified to me, I'd win your conversation 100/100 times.

Overall : fabulous service / Great food

Verdict : delicious food but ain't enough for my tummy.

Really like the place for the authentic taste.

Non-Veg taste particularly Briyani and mutton chukka were awesome.

Place to go and taste the wide variety of food.

Loved the service but the ambience is a little sick . the place is air conditioned but still a Lil dumped . the food is class , no doubt they serve awesome chettinad dishes I would recommend briyani , meals and south Indian gravies. They do take a lot of time to serve the food but with their welcome drink we are not left bored
Mohamed Afzal!!
Not satisfied with service. Waiters & cook fighting in kitchen & showing their anger to customer. Food is okay! I prefer Nungambakkam Anjappar.
