Review Sherlock's Pub - Chennai (Madras)

My sister dragged me to this place she keeps bragging about. And I'm quite surprised myself. The ambiance is quite exciting for a SH fan! This is another underrated place in Chennai where the ambience is good but wasn't that crowded on a SATURDAY night! We went for a Halloween party and got face paintings too! One thing i disliked about the service is that they made us pay before getting the food and it was quite new and i wish the management changes that. The Alfredo pasta was super!

It was a joyful time in Sherlock's pub. They have good seating arrangements and the food quality is good. I would like to visit again on my next chennai trip.

Come to this pub to be "Sherlocked". It is easy to fall in love with this place. Firstly it has one of the most friendliest service staffs in Chennai. The place is large, clean, well Air-conditioned and well lit. When I walked in it was empty and soon it started to fill up so quickly. The short eats are superb and well priced too. The place is not cheap but is not expensive too. I had some issue with the beer being flat but they went a long way to convince me and also replace the beer. It could have easily been swatted away with some excuse. This shows that they take their customers very seriously and want them to come back again and again. Well done and Sherlocks and I am Sherlocked !!!!

They blast good Tamil music with a nice dance floor. They did not substract the entry fees amount in the bill. They refused to refund us saying we should have reminded them while making the bill. Poor behaviour.

A decent Pub where you can spend time with friends. DJ and disco lights is available as usual. You can dance wherever you are seated. Has a balcony view and orders are served where we are seated.

Amazing place to visit, has live music. The food here is also good. To hangout with friends or after office you can just go in to spend some beautiful time here with your loved or near ones. The staff here is also very courteous....... Really enjoyed my visit here. Would definitely suggest this place... It is a must visit..... Drinks offered are also at a very nominal cost.

Ambience is nice assuming it would look better once the crowd pours in . Food was good..but was a bit disappointed they dint have the beers mentioned in the menu.

cozy place which allows stags. Good food and great service. Shoes are compulsory. Do try their onion rings with a beer, you won't regret it.

The best pub that I have ever seen in Chennai. Suites the ambience decor and colours are scintillating. Youngsters would love to hangout and it’s definitely stress busters for someone to listen to Music dance and drinks’!! Cheers guys . Wishing you most and more �

I have been to this place thrice and every time it was unplanned.<br/>When we visited there for the first time we had a very great time.<br/>DJ was so good and it was opened till some 1 am.<br/>Second time was also good.<br/>Third time DJ was playing some old Hindi songs which doesn't give us that feel to dance.<br/>For food we orderd crispy chilli potato which was sliced in fine pieces<br/>Pizza was way too small but it tastes good.<br/>Pasta was really nice and chicken wings took a lot of time to come. Food was good but drinks wasn't that good.<br/>Dance floor is very big here and couple entry as well as entry for girls is free.<br/>Zomato gold is applicable on food.<br/>Altogether it's a one time visiting place.

We have ordered snacks and coke in starting and it took them 1 hr to serve. We used zomato gold and while billing they have applied on the lowest priced dish. Staff was too adamant not ready to listen and along with that they have imposed 12% cess on cold drinks.

Very good ambience. Staffs are friendly. But DJ plays only hindi songs which is up to the mark. Good selection of songs missing...

One of worst experience, not everything is available which is printed on menu card. Further final bill bears the extra rate than mentioned on menu card. Food quality is not not up to the mark. It would be better to avoid such place.

Was really disapointed. went on a weekday. there were no staffs at all. none of us bothered to even ask us what we would like to have. we had to call and ask them. also the menu was very short and even in that half of them were not available. we just drank two beverages and left the place.

It is a beautiful place but if you expect a quality service with amount of money you spend this isn't a place to go specially on your special occasions.... I had a very bad experience last time instead of pre- bookings and pre- payments the behaviour of the general manager was the worse..... He should really learn how to treat their guest with respect.. Please do not go at sherlock's if you really want a good time... "beautiful place but worst service" the attitude general manager carries is "D" grade... Please go to some other bar's like Radisson blu Winchester and see how even a desk staff or bartender behaves and the attitude they have towards their customers is legit... And the general manager of sherlock's pub doesn't have attitude of a security personnel also....

Pretty good ambience with friendly staffs. This place was bigger than we expected. They had offers going on in a random app and we used it and got a pretty good deal. Not so many varieties in the menu. But a must visit place during the weekends

The service was not good to be straightforward! But it all dint matter when the dj started playing Bollywood and Punjabi songs. Menu was useless as they only had expensive stuff available there, so be ready to empty ur pockets! But the experience was awesome as I had good company!😍

Drinks quality ws quite gud.. Nd main thing not a single tamil song was played 😂 All dj songs were English Hindi nd Punjabi.. In short Best place for northerns.. Mostly gud pubs nd restaurants r there in chennai only becoz of north people so that's the only thing we can enjoy here in chennai.

Sherlock's Pub has an uber cool vibe. That's probably the best thing about it! It gives off a British feeling and is very beautifully themed according to the BBC show.<br/><br/>Upon entering 221B Baker Street, you're met with an amazing selection of British music playing. It's a great place for screenings as well!<br/><br/>They've got a great collection of alcohol. Highly recommend using Zomato Gold here as it is slightly pricey.<br/><br/>It's a brilliant place to chill and unwind

Cocktails quality can be improved. Music is sooo loud that we couldn't hear anything for another 20 minutes after leaving the place. DJ plays only 1 English song out of 15 Hindi songs. Most of the menus where not available.

Happening Place nice dance floor. They keep the crowd engaged with events everyday in the calendar. Food was good but Pizzas could be better.

Place has nice decor. Service is really good. Very friendly staff. Food is average though. The dragon chicken and chilli fish is as you would expect in any averge restaurants. The Arabiatta was very salty. The LIIT and whiskey sour was good. For the price, I'd say it is ok. A nice place to spend a hot afternoon..

This pub is located on the backside of Abu Sarovar Portico Hotel.<br/>The decor right from the entrance is totally in keeping with the theme of the famous British sleuth. The actual space is huge and well laid our with semi private spaces ensuring relative privacy. <br/><br/>We were a couple and decided to order a few starters to share and individual mains.<br/> But to our dismay both the starters we ordered were not available,seriously bruschetta is such a simple dish to pull off. <br/><br/>We then decided to go with the chilly paneer for my vegetarian friend and I went with the beer battered fish and chips,<br/>My friend loved the paneer but I found the ratio of the crisp coating to the actual fish totally skewed. Had to really get to the center to get a taste of fish. Loved the fries and the tartar sauce accompanying it though. <br/><br/>For mains I had the Penne with Chicken Aroma sauce and my friend had the Paneer Butter Masala and Jeera rice.<br/>He was pretty satisfied with his dish and I liked the creamy sauce too. Instead of garlic bread I was surprised to see triangles of Pizza Base toasted and topped with herbs. Then it hit me that maybe they were out of bread hence they did this kind of substitution and that explained also the absence of Bruschetta. <br/><br/>On the whole service was a tad slow but maybe in the evenings the vibe of the place would be better,

Dj was playing really old party tracks, bad crowd, shady ambiance. <br/>Service was good, food was decent we ordered paneer starters and French fries.

Surprisingly affordable is the word for Sherlock’s Pub. <br/>The ambiance is good a well thought. The service anyhow is a little too slow. <br/>If you’re looking for a night out and have plans not to spend too much then this place is a go to.

A great place for good food, drinks and live music. The staff are attentive even in spite of crowds. The menu is fairly exhaustive and covers most palate pleasers. We ordered the pizza, golden fried prawns, dragon chicken and kodi vepuddu.<br/><br/>All the alcohols and food were delicious. The pizza was thin crust and with the right mix of sauce, base and cheese. The prawns were delicately crunchy and naturally sweet (a great sign that it's fresh). The dragon chicken was tender with a light crunch and perfectly spiced to go well with the alcohol we ordered. Kodi vepuddu is the highlight dish for me. Succulent chicken with chilly and spices. Traditional yet modern and a great accompaniment to our drinks.<br/><br/>If you don't mind the crowd and the slightly loud music it's a great place to hang out with friends. There is a cover charge for entry that is fully redeemable against food and alcohol. We went on a Saturday so not sure if this is the case for other days also. Dont miss this pub.

The place is a great treat for Sherlock fans. A nicely themed bar with decent food. Happy hours applicable even on weekends and that too till 8 pm...this makes it a value for money place as well.

It use to be my go to neighborhood bar at Bangalore and after coming to Chennai also one of my go to neighborhood bars. The food is amazing and the music and ambience is also super fun. The staff's are courteous and friendly. Coming to the drink Everytime they see me they try to make an new cocktail since they know I like trying good cocktails this shows their level of dedication and their passion. Pocket friendly as well.

Being a Sherlock fan, I had big hopes; but it was a disappointment experience.<br/>I loved the lighting works which made the ambience look aesthetic, but as the place was quite empty, it didn't really give the pub-life vibe. They drinks prices were okayish but if you've got zomato gold, it wouldn't be a problem. We had fries too to spice things up and it was pretty decent. The music wasn't really great. And oh, I loved the entrance door. They nailed it!

The flavour was proper Thai. The pasta lacked a bit of salt. The noodles was as usual. Good. <br/>The beer was served in the perfect chillness. <br/><br/>The service seemed to be a bit slow. But the staff were well mannered. <br/>The ambience gave a good feel and dint look sketchy. Overall happy with the place. Would go back again.

Shittiest place I have ever been to. Being a Bengali this is the worst chilli fish I have ever had. They don't even serve corona or stella on thirsday evening. They are not even completely cooperative. Had the worst experience in Chennai. Would never suggest to go and visit this place.

So, it was a friends bday. We were 12 and we had ordered a decent amount of drinks, and food. They had rigged us completely when the bill came, the bill came upto 42 grand and we didnt consume so much. We had apparently ordered 57 large whiskeys. I mean who on earth would drink so much. They with their own will just added any random number without any proper count to our bill. The manager was rude. I asked him for a detailed breakup of the bill, he showed me an empty bottle lying down somewhere. This was pure scam. And i cant believe sherlock would stoop down to this level.

It's highly disheartening to see place s where they still show discremination on skin. Went with friends and we are blindly stopped by their pathetic bouncers who said today s private but still allowed few random ppl later..won't recommend this place to anyone..😈 their are still plenty of pubs in city who gives due respect to everyone.... u ppl spoiled our whole Christmas mood

It's got a good theme to it. Got nice and cozy seats all over, good lighting. Retro style smoking rooms. Food is alright. Worth a go. Went on through a Zomato gold membership it was a good experience.

Was there on Saturday, It was Bollywood night and I should the say Dj was good and violinist was awesome playing amazing songs with the violin.<br/><br/>Coming to the drinks had liit and comso it was awesome and enjoyed to the most. <br/><br/>Food - The salt and pepper wings was awesome and tasted good. Peri peri fries was the winner and lived it. The South Indian fried fish was ok and would say didn’t meet our expectation. <br/><br/>Would love to go there again and party. <br/><br/>

The place is more for oldies with majority of all songs being old bollywood songs . The most hilarious part is the electric violen the Dj uses .Please do not go here if you are a stag you feel like some untouchable your kept in a corner and you can't use the dance floor. Food is average No doubt they have decent variety of alcoholic beverages. Ambience is average. Don't expect any English music. Don't let the name of the pub fool you

I loved how they tried to bring in a strong English theme into this place, if only they had put in a little more effort , it would have been a game changer!!! However I appreciate the effort that was put it!! It's got a good seating capacity. Good food not great. Good ambience not great. Good music not great.

From the time I stepped into this pub I was just disappointed. First, one has to walk all the way to the back of the hotel to get to the pub. This was followed by climbing 2 flights of stairs/taking an elevator. Then for some unknown (important?) reason, every person wanting to enter the pub has to show their IDs (yeah that's fine) and also has to write down their contact number (but why though?). Then you have to go through a door which the bouncer tells you to not the other one (which looked the same as the other one). This was followed by another damn door! Seriously, what's the obsession with doors here?!<br/>The ambience looked fine (it could've been better though). The captions are over the place looked weirdly crooked. I don't know if it was intentional (to show like the captions are drunk) or they just got lazy in the setup. The arrangement of it actually made me think it was the latter.<br/>Coming to the food and drinks. I used my Zomato Gold membership and got a Hoegaarden beer and a Blue Curaco based cocktail. The beer was a saving grace since it was straight out of a pint bottle but the cocktail reminded me of the blue Angel mocktail at Absolute BBQ (even that tasted better than this). I hardly felt the taste of alcohol in this nor any taste for that matter. It was blue and had iced water in it. The starters were just okay-ish<br/>The music too was just meh. When I looked around, the place just looked sad. I never felt the pub/lounge bar vibe here.<br/>They seriously have to improve a lot here!

Visited this place a few days back just because Zomato gold was available on drinks. The ambience was great but we were still skeptical about the food due to some not so great reviews in Zomato.<br/><br/>We had reached by around 3 pm where the staff had informed us about the weekend buffet which cost around 999 with unlimited drinks (including any local drinks, ie beer or whiskey or brandy) and, of course unlimited food. Since a few of us were teetotallers they even agreed to unlimited mocktails. We made the math and it sounded like a good deal, so decided to get into the action.<br/><br/>Since all of us were vegetarian, we had to choose between veg salad, greek salad and barbecued vegetables for starters. We were also specially served veg manchurian balls, fresh cut pineapples, cheese toast and tandoori vegetables as accompaniments. Those who drank chose domestic brandy and mentioned the taste as great. They were glad to provide additional larges as we kept finishing the initial servings. For the teetotallers too, they had served fruit punch and virgin mojito.<br/><br/>The best aspect about the lunch - more than the lip smacking food - was their courteous service. They were kind enough to explain the options available and service was extremely fast and unlike what we read in the other reviews they were very polite. Maybe it was because we were the only crowd there on that Sunday afternoon.<br/><br/>Special mention must go to the main course comprising some fantastic veg dum biryani along with dal makhani and raita. The veg pasta available was among the best we had in the city and my friend couldn't stop raving about it. There was also the customary curd rice, which I didn't have but was good per my friend. The desserts included mousse which was delicious, some thick well made paal payasam and an excellent hot halwa. For a moment it was a bit surreal, as if we had gone to a posh buffet restaurant with unlimited drinks as well.<br/><br/>Despite it being the fag end of the lunch time, they kept refilling and asked us politely if we need anything else before closing the buffet. I haven't ever had such a wide spread of dishes in any restobar and for me it was absolutely worth every penny we paid for it. While they closed around 4 pm, we had already stocked our table with what we wanted and they politely waited for us to finish eating (which happened around 4:30) after which we asked for the bill.<br/><br/>The bill came to 3001 only and we were more than glad to leave a handsome tip as well. All my friends were happy and we would definitely be back again for more.<br/><br/>

The pub in this hotel used to be a quiet and mediocre place a few years back. After the renovation, it is an unexpected surprise. Little costly and food takes a bit long to arrive. But nice place to chill out on Saturday night. The electric violinist was amazing.

The ambience of this place is not that great. The music that they play is also average. There is nothing great in their service either. The paneer tikka that we ordered was worth the money. Overall this place can be skipped since its not that great!

The place is located in Abu Palace , Egmore. There was a violinist who was extremely good but the songs played were too slow for the place. They were neither cold nor tasty. Even the one named Sherlock was really pathetic definite miss. <br/><br/>Cocktail and liquor options are limited as they don’t have many of the options shown in the menu.<br/><br/>The ambience was good,there were very few people in spite of it being a Saturday night.<br/><br/>Overall an average place !!!

Beer is not 145 a pint. That's only for domestic beer which they don't have most of the times. They charge 650 for Corona. Whatever is least expensive in the menu is something that they don't have. Plus they have cover charges. Plus they don't allow people in three quarters. I mean since when did Sherlock's start having such rules.

1.Was there for two live band stints and felt they could better their sound systems. The bands had a tough time playing and stopped midway, feels like the pub doesn't bother to correct it.<br/>2.Drinks were pathetic and my group stuck to beer after the first round even if it was overpriced for a pint.<br/>3.Their food choices were plenty and I personally liked their vegetarian starters.<br/><br/>

It is the worst kind of pub you can imagine, i came to chennai and went to this place thinking it will be of regular sherlock standards in other cities, but it was a disappointment , and waiters also dont know half of the stuff, food is as bad as it can get, and price is sky high

The long island tea priced at 500 was charged to me at 800 , on asking I was explained very rudely that they used imported liquor for the drink and hence the increased price! If it was so I should have been told that beforehand. Not just that the whole bill was overblown by a whole lot of amount , I used Zomato gold for 2+2 on drinks had 2 lit (500 each) and 2 cocktails (350 each) food worth 500, and the bill I received was 3113-/ ! Had to get the bill changed thrice with a rude manager. A complete waste of an evening !

I wanted to give a half star but unfortunately that option wasn’t available!..they have limited items in the menu ,of which 50 per of items are not available.i am guessing it’s also becoz we had zomato gold so they weren’t ready to serve us domestic beers .In all a bad experience .obviously we left the place since there were hardly any options available

The pub is behind the hotel. It has got a good ambience and was not rushed on a saturday afternoon. They only serves imported beer hence was very expensive. Ordered a pizza which tasted amazing, though it was small. Hope they serve donestic beer as i would be able buy another pint for the price i pay as tax.

We went here because we had a few hours to kill before catching a bus to kodai. Being a Thursday afternoon, the place was pretty empty. The decor here is really cool and the staff were friendly. The food was really quite delicious for a pub. The musuc wasn't very good but that might be because of the lack of people and it being an afternoon. With zomato gold on drinks there really wasn't much to complain about. I might go back here on a weekend night to really get a feel for the place.

Very friendly staff and awsome ambeience even though their starters are not at to the mark ordered chicken popcorn which was really disappointing with the salads where they offer was red and green pimentos or capsicum wch was not the worth for money and food was really less quantity what we pay for service was efficient and really good bartenders were off to their mark... will come back though but need some more good food

Very expensive and full of college crowd... Food is fine ... But if you're budget drinking do avoid.... The staff treat you like the junkie college crowd so I'm not visiting again. Ambiance is good for tho.

Being new to chennai, this was the first place we visited for a few after work drinks. <br/>We fell in love with the dj and have been here around 4 times in the past month. <br/>The reason behind only 3 stars is one of the nights we visited, happened to be a saturday night. <br/>A cover charge is expected and acceptable, what is not acceptable is having to wait 20-30 minutes to be acknowledged and given a table. We had to hunt down the manager to get it done. <br/>After which we were denied service and were asked to get our drinks from the bar, we obliged and the bartender told us to tell our server our order and since we had zomato gold, we couldn’t place an order there. <br/>Zomato gold isn’t given to us, we pay for it and if restaurants partner up with zomato, the staff needs to be taught to respect it. <br/>I really do like the place, I just wish they were managed better on busy nights.

It's one of the best places in Chennai. Ambience is good and you will love the food. It's a happening place as some event is happening here every other day. Happy drinking 😂😂

I am at Sherlock now and writing this review. This is a sadddd place. You will see a bunch of wanna be school kids jumping here and there on a Saturday night. The ambience is extremely bad and the DJ plays the same track again and again. I guess he just takes the school kids too lite. Now coming to the food, it is below average. Over all a bad Saturday evening.

It was Sunday so the place was unsurprisingly empty. The music was just empty electronic beats that soumded drab.<br/>This should've led to better service but no. We ordered Kingfisher Draught amd were charged for Premium in the bill with an extra 100 rupees. The Chicken Aurora spaghetti was rarher dry and bland. Chicken pieces seemed far from fresh and weren't cooked well. Total bill came upto be 740 with 2+2 beers with Zomato Gold.<br/><br/>Ambience: 3.5/5<br/>Food: 2/5<br/>Service: 1/5<br/>VFM: 2.5/5<br/><br/>

Been here a couple of times. Would say that it has become a lot better lately. Had a few bad experiences during the initial visits, like they said they didn't have KF beers but actually had them. But on clarifying it with the management, they said that the stock that was there was spoilt.<br/><br/>In the recent times, they've picked up, made changes in the menu. Food wise, their starters are my favorite. Good ambience. They have live bands performing at times, so if you're not a fan of them, make sure you figure out before going there.<br/><br/>

This pub is a much needed break in our Area.. Awesome ambience, excellent staff members, delicious food and drinks. A great place in case you wish to chill out. They come out with good offers too... We organised a private party also and it was worth every penny

Vodka with a tangy taste! the smell reminded me of Absolut mandrin!<br/><br/>* Chicken Popcorn!<br/>came along with hand full of fries and a dip! An amazing place! Live band, good cocktails, good food and amazing crowd. Loved the place. The waiters and bar tenders were friendly. There is a 500/- cover charge which you can use inside to buy food and drinks. The band was playing rock music. Such an amazing performance! Loved my time there.

Starters are very good. Must try chef Emmanuel’s burnt paneer tikka. It melts in your mouth. <br/><br/>Water is the most basic expectation in terms of service. Sherlock failed in that. Dirty glass. Waiter served water in a pre soiled glass which we luckily happened to notice. Water was served after repeated attempts and requests. <br/><br/>Ambience is nice. Thematised very well. Lighting and vibes of this place are good. However the lack of positive attitude and service kills it. <br/><br/>

Place is good but who on earth charges 58% VAT on IMFL?? I thought we were living with GST now and this place charges GST on Food and VAT on liquor.

The restaurant is an absolute delight with top quality food. A big big thank you to the staff who are so kind and professional.
