Review Apna Ka Dhaba - Chennai (Madras)

Always a delight to eat at Apna ka dhaba.. Though the current restaurant space is not so convenient and no ac...but the taste is as good as it used to be when the restaurant was at Mogappair a few years back... Took Mutton gravy and chicken 65...awesome taste....

Budget friendly spot to eat with friends and family. Small Dining can occupy 20persons. Everything was served hot. Butter naan was good. Tandoori chicken was tasty and too spicy and green chutney. Paneer tikka masala and punjabi chicken curry was also good. Best of all is the service by owner Anna. Dining-⭐️⭐️ taste-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ service-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

I have buyed chicken biriyani 7 years ago there. That time there is shop in mogappair who serve good non-veg dishes in restaurants or roadside shop near by in mogappair west . Now only there are many shop . Even though many shop came i can never froget the taste of the biriyani which i tasted years ago😌. While going on the way where it is located before, will be thinking when it comes again.I came now. The new shop is in paneer nagar i didn't taste till now in that new shop. I will try 😋

best tandoori chicken and ooo crispy jalebis.. If you r going on a week end go b4 8 otherwise your waiting time will b more. On week days it is not crowded. waiters and manager are nice people and though its a very small place food is good. dont expect ambience , ac ( it is there) etc..

You call them, they will never pick up. Mobile number always switched off. We been trying since 30 mins it's better to remove all your numbers. It's misleading the customers

Been here couple of times with my buddies, they never disappoint you at any cost. They are a small player in mogappair and has a good customer base based on the taste and credibility. Worth the money.

The service is the most noteworthy thing in here. The place is very clean and ambience is somewhat dhaba like. The only point where you are let down is the food. <br/>I went there as a first customer of the day. I ordered chilli baby corn and some chapati with it. The taste was good but I found it to be a little overpriced. Chilli baby corn was mentionable. The only complaint I have is that it was not value for money.<br/>The service was very nice. They didn't had the food ready when I entered but they served me well during the waiting time. The staff was polite but most of the items that they had on the menu was not available. I mean people go over there expecting a dhaba food but I was told that they only had chinese at that time. <br/>The place was clean and the overall ambiance was not bad. However they hadn't turned on the AC, don't know why. Still it had a feel of dhaba associated with the ambiance. You may go and try for yourself.

Went to this place for my colleague's last day treat along with my friends. The place is very small one, but very neat and cleanly maintained! We ordered for the following:<br/>Chilli baby corn- amazing taste with perfectly toasted masala. <br/>Plain roti- the rotis were big, two rotis would be good enough to fill the hunger. With no oil yet well cooked one. Loved the roti. Never tasted such soft rotis anywhere till now.<br/>Kadai panneer- usual tasting dish. Good one. Nothing to talk much about it. <br/>Dal tadka- I didnt like this much compared to others as for every bit I got the garlic taste which I don't prefer. <br/>Vegetable pulav- definitely this will give you the tummy full feeling if you taste even little of this as the pulav is completely ghee filled. Yet again an amazing dish among the ordered ones. Perfectly cooked veges and rice gave the best flavour to the dish. <br/><br/>

Located nearby the Costal guard staff quarters - mogappair west, this restaurant is one among my favorites in mogappair. Pleasant surrounding, friendly staffs and of course tasty (simple) food makes this place a decent food spot in mogappair. All other restaurants in mogappair are either too much crowded or located nearby the busy small roads. This place has big open parking.<br/>Being very close to my house, I have tasted all their dishes. Thanks to my frequent visits. All their dishes are fresh, crispy (starters), less spicy and most importantly less oily. Their must try dishes are dragon chicken, chicken butter masala, dal fry.<br/>Only problem is that, all the starters are prepared the same way- have the same taste due to the same masala. I cannot differentiate between a Gobi fry and a chicken fry. Also I would suggest to skip the prawns/sea food items, because even it will taste the same like a gobi/ chicken fry and is a bit costlier than other items.<br/>Apart from certain small drawbacks which is also acceptable, everything is fine in here. Must visit restaurant in mogappair.

It was wonderful experience at this place. It's a very small place, but the food taste is beyond the words. I would recommend this place for others. Their service is excellent especially one old uncle hospitality was good.

Apna ka dhaba was diff from the usual non veg hotels i visited so far. Instead of indulging ourselves in briyani, we had garlic butter naan and butter chicken masala for main course. Finger fish and the hotel spl tandoori, starters were good and butter chicken masala was fine and not as tasty as i had in other restaurants, tandoori was served with garlic sauce instead of green chutney but it was good too. The rate was moderate and this can be a diff try from usual chettinad or south cuisine!

When on a tight budget , this place comes to my mind first. I was really impressed with their fast home delivery. The food is worth every penny. <br/><br/>Food : 4/5<br/>Ambience:3/5<br/>Quantity :4/5<br/><br/>Their rotis and paneer makhanwala are must haves .

Fighting with 2 of my friends in the car and we sitting down to have "the talk". we picked this hotel!<br/><br/>I had a veg fried rice- it was good <br/>my two friends shared their briyani because they didn't like it and had to return back the other.

Placing a home delivery order through Zomato for the first time and Apna Ka Dhaba crops up on the screen as one of the restaurants which delivers food in the area. <br/><br/>Staff and service - minutes after placing the order I got a call from the restaurant to inform about the unavailability of dal makhani and promptly offered to replace it with dal tadka. The delivery of food took place in less than 40 minutes which is commendable to say the least. <br/><br/>Food and menu - a quick skim through their menu and I'd made up my mind in a flash to go ahead with paneer makkhanwala, dal makhani, tandoori and rumali roti as the order for the evening. Dal tadka replaced dal makhani and it turned out to be equally good. Paneer makkhanwala with a slight sweet taste to it rightly features under the recommendation section for Apna Ka Dhaba on Zomato. Methi as garnishment adds a wonderful flavor to the dish. Dal tadka could do with a little more salt, I felt. Breads bad been cooked well so no qualms there. <br/><br/>360/- for it all is not that bad a choice considering the home delivery option.

I had biryani here. Nothing great to boast of. Mutton biryani wasn't very good. Just very ordinary. The rice did not taste like it was cooked with the meat.

Our order yesterday was<br/>Paneer butter masala<br/>Chilli Mushroom<br/>naan, romali roti and butter roti.<br/><br/>We got a chilli chicken instead of Mushroom. We don't have Non veg on saturday.  When we called to inform, the guy said we will check and call back.  When we called again after an hour, he says Boss, adjust karo.  What Nonsense.<br/><br/>Such insensitivity to customers.   Pathetic.  We ultimately gave away the food and ordered from Balaaji Bhavan.<br/><br/>Never again will we order.  Mistakes are bound to happen.  The least we expect is an apology...

Apna ka dhaba is in my list for a long time, but for some reason I always give it a pass. On last wednesday, I tot y not give it try, as many reviewers wrote it as a decent one.<br/><br/>I ordered methi paratha, pudina paratha, Tandoori Roti, phulkas ....each one servings as I wanted to try their various bread spreads. Then I ordered paneer tikka and Gobi Gulistan.<br/><br/>As far as breads are concerned, methi and pudina paratha were good. Paratha was soft but the topping weren't adequate enough to say whether it's methi or pudina paratha. Rotis were really hard and phulkas too.<br/><br/>Gobi gulistan, never heard of it before and a reviewer said it was good. So I went ahead and ordered it, asking them to make it lil extra spicy. It's a dense gravy, and cauliflower added to it was just blanched, hence it was blunt but soft and cooked well. Overall I liked it. No much complaints. But it cannot be ordered as a stand alone gravy, as u cannot take this gravy for every bite since it's very dense.<br/><br/>Paneer tikka was well marinated and spiced, but tikka was overcooked and it was hard. May be if I was dined in, it could have been soft.<br/><br/>The major drawback with take aways is since the food is packed hot, we do not take into consideration tht the food is still in the process of cooking. Hence while it reaches us after 45 mins or so it's either overcooked (in case of paneer) and turning up hard( in case of phulkas and Roti). So restaurants have to work some ways to get the food as fresh as possible in case it's a take aways.<br/><br/>Overall am satisfied with the experience and the bill was not too heavy on my pocket. Hence will definitely order with them again

A small place which is said to specialized in Punjabi cuisine !!<br/><br/>Scorching heat led me to search through the menu to have butter milk. To my astonishment, it was not there :(<br/><br/>Orders -<br/><br/>Starters :<br/>Baby corn fry - A baby corn Pakoda kind of a dish..<br/>Tasted crisp and the sauce that accompanied was good too :)<br/><br/>Paneer Tikka - five decent pieces of panneer :)<br/>Onion which came atop the panneer was not good :(<br/>As usual the chutney was decent, though I wud have loved it had it been a bit more spicier.. :)<br/><br/>Pudina Paratha : Was a decent dish :)<br/>Butter Naan : Decent :)<br/>Aloo Paratha : Decent :)<br/><br/>All the Indian breads were OK and had no complaints. They were definitely not the best I ever had, nor were they the worst.<br/>So, "Decent" was set as the scale.<br/><br/>Gobi Gulistan - was a dish which was mentioned as spicy, but still I never felt it was spicy. Qty was good :)<br/>Was eating spoonful without any breads.. Such was the spice levels, had a sweetish blend as well.<br/><br/>Lassi - Personally liked it much. Kind of home made taste :)<br/>Though they could improvise on the presentation part !!<br/><br/>VFM : 3.5/5<br/>Ambiance : 4/5<br/>Taste : 3.5/5<br/>Qty : 3.5/5<br/>

I absolutely loved this place. Service is fast, the food is great and with North Indian flavours and the price is just right. The person noting down your orders, is an elderly gentleman who knows precisely how each item on the menu tastes and what the portions would look like. You cannot go wrong with a visit to this restaurant. But do bear in mind that this is not a fancy restaurant and hence do not expect much from the ambiance or the seating.

Taste: 3.5<br/>Ambiance: 3.5<br/>Service: 3<br/>Value for money: 3<br/> <br/>We have ordered hot & sour soup and it didn't taste good, however the restaurant manager said it was made with soya sauce, other foods are good.

I can give this place a perfect 5! Costumer is the king here! Amazing food! Great variety and lingers your taste buds big time! Small place with a great taste. You can find authenticity in their north Indian dishes. Our regular place for a quick dinner.

Amazing Palak And Tomatoe Soup! Just The Best! Not To Mention, These People Have A Really Good Attitude Towards Customers. The Quite, And "Closed" Ambience Is Perfect For A Private Dinner Chat With A Loved One!

OMG I used to order paneer kulcha and baby corn masala every weekend for home delivery and they are yummy.. The paneer kulcha is so soft and not chewy after a long time too as it is safe inside the coil.. And the butter in baby corn masala melts in my mouth.. To be noted is that the baby corns have been sliced and fried before adding them to the masala which gives the extra taste and flavour too.. After a very long time Apna ka Dhaba is close to the authentic North Indian recipes.. Not interested in trying out other dishes in the menu through door delivery will soon experiment them in dine in.. 😊👍 Since am a veggie my husband tried out the chicken and he said it was okay and not bad 😊

I have been here twice, for the elegant atmosphere. Also the quality of the food is so compromising for the amount paid. <br/>I always prefer this Dhaba  for North Indian dishes.<br/><br/>Must try - Paneer Butter Masala, Naan, Kulcha, & Kashmiri Naan

This was our hideout for most of the days in chennai. If you are a non-vegetarian you will love this place. veggies are good too but the item to look out here for both is the lassi it serves. very easy access near nolambur police station this is one of the best in mogappair.

Speciality of this restaurant is they don't use preservatives, colours in food. They cook and give you in its natural colour.<br/><br/>Have been here couple of times , every dining has been happy and satisfying.<br/><br/>Am a hardcore non vegetarian, but this is the only place where I love to have vegetarian dishes , <br/><br/>Their specials are must and distinct in flavour. <br/><br/>Happy dining place for family, don't miss their hot hot jelabi "addictive "<br/><br/>Recommend 110% .

Been here N times in the last 2 years and place got recently renovated. Good part of this restaurant is they have tasted the same through all these visits.<br/><br/>Seating - Small place with max seating for 30. Gets crowded on Friday afternoons.<br/><br/>Ambience - Decent. AC might be just sufficient for summer.<br/><br/>Service - Courteous staff.<br/><br/>Food - They start with papad and mint chutney.<br/><br/>Soups - Normally go for the tomato soup or sweet corn and they have been good always. Tomato soups might have small garlic pieces (if you are anti garlic )<br/><br/>Starters - Masala papad is a must try. Gobi, Chicken starters are decent<br/><br/>Main - Normally go for the Phulkas with Mixed Dal, Aloo Gobi or Chicken gravy. And these are good. I have never tried biriyani....has been the rotis here.<br/><br/>Couple of the gravy items might taste similar due to the base...so leave it to you to carefully check which has tomato base or punjabi masala version :)<br/><br/>Deserts - Nothing to beat the Garam jalebi or gulab jamuns. Yummy.<br/><br/>Lassi and Lime Soda are very good as well<br/><br/>Overall place has been good and has kept us interested in their food for past few years<br/><br/>Rating 4 esp as one wont get disappointed and also isnt heavy on your purse.

I have been here more than two times the ambience is peaceful and taste is awesome. This time I decided to take a home delivery. I had ordered two dishes a kebab and a kadai chicken. It nearly took him 45mins for him to deliver. But as usual the kadai chicken was authentic and flavors were oozing and out. Overall good but delivery time could be faster.

One of the iconic restaurant at Mugappair.. The interior design is calm, gives peace of mind.. The food tastes wonderful, had a sense of North Indian tongue.. The prices are reasonable.. Must visit..

I have been nearly 10 times.. I love the food served here.. But the taste of the food will not be consistent.. That is.. You order the same dish twice in a week .. Two times it tastes different... But there are few dishes I personally lik it in this place like dragon chicken.. Shahi paneer.. The place is too small here.. Little bit congested.. I would personally suggest mogappairians to try out here
