Very small restaurant maintained by brahmin community. By the word brahmin we can guess the taste has proved their authentic taste with lots of love and good taste intheir food.
Lots of regular customer roll for their meals with wholesome amount of veggies like kootu, poriyal.
Their vathakolambu was signature (not too spicy ).
Its a good daily come back restaurant, cost friendly, homely preparation.

Located on the kaliamman koil street about a km from koyambedu junction this is a small compact eatery with almost zero parking area...the dining area is small and compact...but clean and well maintained..has a pretty old feel about the place..looks more like a mess...
The service is good...quick and prompt and served with a smile..i went with a couple of friends and we ordered quite a few items and were keeping the servers on their toes...but they always responded in positive way...
All the items we ordered were really good..idlies were soft and fluffy..couple of dosas which were really crispy and well made...a unique item which is actually a rare item i tried was the tomato oothapam...was good and well made..was perfectly cooked to be crisp on the ends and not have that raw batter feeling that is the case in most places...the vadas were good too yummy to the core...the accompaniments like sambar was perfect sambar...and chutneys really fresh...both a bit on the highet side...
Pricing seems to be on the average side..but the taste is really good of the items tried...and the variety too is good...a outlet worth trying when you are in this particular neighborhood...
A long standing eatery in this area. Others have come and gone... But he stays. Reason consistency. Food tastes the same, bhramin food is their forte, they are consistent. The eatery has seen a sea of change from being a mess, to a kitchen with wood fire to all new equipments in stainless steel and all gas cooking ranges. But the food stays the same, and the sambar tastes the same way.
The food is like home food, great fit a evening snack, coffee, or the ritual morning breakfast. No msg no soda, no Botheration to the stomach. Just plain old south Indian food.

This restaurant located near nilgiris supermarket on kaliamman kovil street sometime easy to missed, there is enough parking for two wheeler, Very small veg restaurant decent cleaners I was here only for breakfast there are a lot of varieties I always try Pongal, Uttapam, Dosai, Idli, and Sambar vada All decent taste

Heard a lot about uttappam at this place online. Went to this place on a Sunday morning after a cycle ride with s couple of friends. Waited till 7;30 am for uttappam's but still they were not ready. So had podi dosa & Pongal. Probably one of the best Pongal I had. Sambar was good too. For the price you pay can't complain about anything. If you like street food or hole in the wall places do visit this place
I have been here more than five times its a preety good to have tiffen there it will be hot and delisious we can go and have tiffen with ur friends but the place wont be good nasty atmosphere
I'm a regular here at least for the last 4 years. They specialize in south indian cuisine. The best is their quality, yes, it is better than other high class veg restaurants. Amazingly they have maintained their taste for all these years.
If you are guy who love non fired chilli parota, then this is the place to be. I luv dining here.
I used to have Dinner here at most times and their "Sambhar" is very tasty and yummy :) Also don't have their coffee here ..Its worst :(
A typical kumbakonam food shop. Degree coffee, Andra paesarat Dosa , Adai avial , Rice upma and puli upma are the best cooked ones. The quality of sambar and chutney varies.I wish they maintain a good quality which is a serious drawback. A place we can rely for daily food also. Lunch tastes mediocre. Kurma best in the area. On the whole its a nice place for the ones who love home style cooking.(vettu sappadu)
Have been regulars at this place for 11 years now.. They first started as a small eatery opposite the current restaurant. The taste remains the same till date even after they have grown up to a larger air conditioned restaurant. Swaminathan cafe is branded the "safest restaurant in the world" by my grandparents and parents. Maybe because nothing has happened to us eating there for 10 years ..Three generations of regulars. I can still see a lot of familiar faces working there..which explains the constant quality in taste. This restaurant next door will always save my day.. When there is no one to cook at home ..or when all ladies in the house are tired. :p All fancy restaurants don't give the satisfaction as this one does.
Value for money. Authentic south Indian tamil brahmin food. Puli pongal is awesome. Thanks for getting this food item to the menu.

Need some more cleanliness and service improvement.

This is a modest little cafe that serves vegetarian food. It is the best place for veg food in this area. While their entire menu os great, their set dosai and vada curry is out of this world. Their vada is always crispy and tasty. Their masala dosai is also equally good. What I love the most about them is the wait time after order is pretty less. I cannot not tell about their excellent filter coffee. I often go to this place to have it. Overall, a great restaurant.
A compact vegetarian hotel available in the chinmaya nagar(near 3rd main road) locality. Rates very reasonable.Taste homely. Food is served in banana leaves. Ambience neat to maximum. Service too prompt. Difficult to run an eatery without any issue at all. Take away card payment there. Parking for 10 bikes 2 or 3 cars ok. Lunch sales more than breakfast service. When more footfall or supply demand, naturally stumble to copeup like any other establishments. Such hotels should be patronised. Good one.
Can improve hygiene and atmosphere. Coffee is made with charred milk. Can avoid usage of reheated milk.
Great food at very reasonable prices. Not many tables or fancy ambience but it is comparable to any restaurant in terms of taste

Meals and Tiffin served on plantain leaf in large serving and great traditional Kumbakonam / Tanjore menu taste not found in other joints. Chennai food and coffee generally very costly and I found this restaurant to be better on all counts. There is decent parking place for limited vehicles. I would visit again without hesitation.
Authentic feel like my childhood memories... But breakfast ok kind and feel too costly... Need more quality for the price...
