Quite popular non veg hotel in the locality. Famous for their biriyanis non veg sides and non veg meals. Have bought biriyani takeaway quite a few times. No complaints. Good typical chennai style biriyani with mild flavours and good pieces. Rs 280 for mutton biriyani takeaway with good quantity which can serve 2 moderate eaters. Their mutton pepper gravy is awesome. Goes well with rice Dosa and idly.

If you want to have some mouth-watering affordable food, try here. Food is served on a plantain leaf. Friendly employees especially Ashok was very welcoming. We ordered mutton biriyani, chicken 65, chilli chicken, omlette, mixed non-veg fried rice and prawns thokku. Except, prawns everything else was yummm. I recommend.

Get nice and tasty Chettinad cuisine here at very decent rates. Both regular seating and air conditioned seating(for families) are available. The service is good and friendly staff. Run by two brothers since many years, they have a regular customer base that goes back many years!

Preferred to have good madurai style foods. Gravies and side-dishes are always best

I ate Mutton Biriyani and Chicken 65. Both were top notch i never expected this must taste from this restaurant. Before main course they give Country Chicken soup as a complimentary, it was also good. Mutton Biriyani had less pieces, could have been more. Chicken Gravy which they served was really good and tender Chicken 65 had good quality of pieces. Service was too good and fast.

I had visited because one of my friend told very big about this hotel. I had ordered Mutton Briyani and he also ordered the same, I can say the taste of the Briyani was too bad not good, Price is low and not spicy its just like normal; I don’t like that ambience was good. Food- had the meals. Unlimited rice, chicken, fish n special gravy which that day was nandu kuzhambu. You also get keerai n one veg poriyal, rasam n curd. Food was tasty mild in spice. Prawn thokku was good quantity n tasty. Would have liked it to be thicker n spicy.<br/><br/>Ambiance- place is very bad- even the air-conditioned hall. One AC not working n could get very hot in afternoon. Not very clean.<br/><br/>Service- courteous guy but should Definitely learn Tamil <br/><br/>Overall not a place you want to take your girl but more of an after drink guys place- get your hands dirty, tasty n value for money food

After more than a decade visited Magesh and heard about the branch near vilivakam . Was anxious to have the mutton chops that I had those days and hence bought a parcel . It was indeed good but cannot say it was the same a decade back which was much better in my opinion at the Ayanavaram branch . But overall good not bad .

Hi All, Pls DO NOT waste your money by ordering from this restaurant. The food quality is below average, the staff is extremely rude. They will never miss a chance to cheat. We ordered a lot of food for a get together but found many items missing. When we contacted the restaurant they refused to accept.

I registered in Zomato, just to share my awful experience about this (Magesh Chettinadu) in a hope that this would help other.<br/>Although I understand that Food and taste vary from person to person and very hard to generalize, we have food from many different restaurants and can judge food based on our past experience.<br/><br/>I visited this place on my Wedding day with my Wife and 3 Year old Son. The ambience was good, and the staff was wonderful.  They were very friendly and polite., I live nearby and cross the restaurant every day, for a moment I thought at last we have got a good restaurant in our locality. <br/><br/>We sat near a big aquarium, My son loved the place and was playing with fish.<br/><br/>I am not a hard-core NV eater, just like have starters kind of NV and my wife is a pure Vegetarian. We ordered Tomato Soup, Fish Finger, Chicken Keema Dosa, Gopi 65, Parotta, Butter Nan & Kadai Veg.<br/><br/>Tomato Soup: Soup was excellent. Very thick and good cream on it, All 3 of us liked it very much.<br/><br/>Fish Finger: When we received it, I was overwhelmed by the number of fish fingers, it was more (I couldn’t recollect actual numbers but certainly more than what other restaurants offer), I love fish finger and happily began to have it.. to my surprise the taste was pathetic, I have never seen fish bones in Fish Finger anywhere.. This was not like Fish Finger just some rectangle piece of fish fry. It was very smelly so much as after have 3rd piece or so felt my puking.<br/>This smell of fish finger was so bad that my wife couldn’t even her veg Butter Nan and her veg starter.<br/>Next Torture was Cheema Dosa, this again the chicken wasn’t fully cooked (or at least that is what I felt). I have this fish finger and chicken Cheema Dosa in other restaurants frequently, both this items we pathetic, I had only 3-4 bite of Cheema Dosa and I was done. I felt what a waste of money.<br/><br/>Kadai Veg wasn’t good, too many big big vegetables, Butter Nan was okay, I think there is noting to go wrong in a butter nan.<br/><br/>By the time I came out of the pathetic taste of fish finger and Cheema Dosa My wife has made her mind not to have any of the items ordered by her as she did not like the non veg smell in food. <br/><br/>We decided to pack all items and to give it to any roadside person <br/><br/>We asked the waiter to pack all of the food, he gave a bewildered look as he was puzzled that we have not had anything of what we ordered. I did not complaint any thing to him.. just said we need go to another place. Please pack all this items at the earliest.<br/><br/>Bill was around Rs 650/-I believe (Dont remember exactly). We came out of this place cursing ourselves how we ruined our wedding day dinner. . Will never again visit this place again and do not recommend to anyone. <br/><br/>We came out looking for someone to give this food, after asking couple of people, finally we gave all food to 2 old person near Villivakkam Bus Terminus (We told them clearly that we order NV and we did not like the taste so we packed this to give it to someone else).<br/><br/>We felt little better that atleast we were able to give food to 2 old people.<br/><br/>I could have written it lot more better, but cutting this short and not adding more words and other description as I am running out of time.

this restaurant in ayanavaram since i was kid and my parents use to buy from this restaurant when i was kid and now i been regular to this restaurant..Its very near to my home so 95% i use to prefer the take way and cost is very moderate and biriyani where they use to serve will be excellent..Prawn biriyani and button  masala is one of my favorite.. I don't know the ambience where i never use to have there but when it comes to taste its one of the best in my circle..

Very nice place in Villivakkam. We had dinner with brother in law. Mutton Briyani and Mutton Sukka . Also Chicken 65 with Lemon Juice. Good taste food.<br/>

The ambience and presentation of dishes reminds u of a typical budget restaurant .. <br/>Ac hall is not well maintained ..<br/>But the taste of the items r really jaw dropping.. especially chicken ,mutton ,prawn pepper gravy .. <br/> Tiffen items are the best and biriyani is a signature dish here .. <br/> Awesome restuarant .. good service .<br/>Delight for chettinad meal likers

If u really feel like having an authentic Biriyani or non veg meals u can visit this place.. I jus sat in ground floor with non ac seating, wooden chairs, not so clean waiters.. But who cares abt tat when u get yummy food... Asa v sat.. They kept banana leaves and water... Then I asked wat is available for starters.. There they brot me a bigggu plate wit variety of starters to choose from.. I was totally stumbled and din know wat to select from so many things 🙈<br/>Then opted for mutton chukka.. Then got a naatukozhi Biriyani and non veg meals for main course...the Biriyani was like soooo yummmmm.. Nice quantity... Then for meals they kept a plate full of rice and all the gravy in small tumblers.. Firstly I thought it's limited meals.. But when v asked for extra rice.. Twice they gav in small plates and din charge for that... Total bill was 415 Rs.. I would say it's tottaalllyyyyy VFM!! <br/>If u doesn't care abt the ambience and oly want yummmmm food.. U can visit this place and trust me u Wil never get disappointed

So this place on my bucket list for so long and today I happened to visit this restaurant !! They are expert in chettinadu food I must say !! <br/>Normal ambience with AC and decent seatings !!<br/><br/>Coming to food ,<br/><br/>Naatukozhi biryani - oh I didn't expect this taste initially was in doubt if it would taste good !! But it was OUT OF THE WORLD!! <br/>With ghee smell , cashews toppings and chicken well cooked with perfect blend of masalas !! Bestttttt!!!! 😬<br/>Good portion !! <br/><br/>Mutton chukka- again typical chettinadu masala and chunks of mutton was cooked and portion was worth the penny! <br/><br/>Prawn masala- prawns cooked wit some chettinadu masala - it was just yum!! Magesh Chettinad restaurant is one of the best south Indian non veg restaurant in the city IMO. They serve excellent gravies, terrific briyanis and all the hard core non veg items. <br/><br/>Recently we tried their chicken kothu parotta, mutton briyani, idli chicken gravy, grilled chicken. Chicken kothu parotta was dry to my liking but when mixed with the gravy that they provide it was awesome. Mutton briyani they serve is one of the best in the city. My wife who is usually very though to satisfy as far as briyani is concerned was raving about their briyani for a while after we dined here. Even the grilled chicken was excellent. Idlies , which I was thinking tastes best in vegetarian hotels was very soft and tasty here too. Especially the idly chicken gravy is my favourite combination and they dint disappoint me. <br/><br/>The service was super friendly. Cost is very cheap. All of which I have mentioned costed us only Rs 500 odd which would have doubled if we have tried the same at the Annanagar chettinad restaurants just few kilometres away. Terrific value for money. Must try for hard core non veg lovers.

This place I known for non veg. However their vegetarian dishes tastes good. I visited this places ages ago, since its accessible I try to gt take aways. The delivery time so is fast inspire of the crowd. Food was good and prices are reasonable.. They have added an ac hall where I'm planning to visit for our next family dinner.. It would be good if they change the way of packing.. Instead of plastic boxes they could the aluminum foil ones..

Been there to magesh chettinad hotel in villivakkam and ayanavaram but not in anna nagar. Briyani here is the best i have ever tasted in a hotel. Mutton briyani is top notch. You can't find a briyani like this in the whole city** (if you like spicy chettinad cuisines).

Magesh is a chain of restaurants in chennai....and many of the places serve great chettinad food...but sadly this is not the story on KH road, Ayanavaram..Shabbily maintained place.....biryanis served with real stale and hard pieces of chicken... Meals in the afternoon are pretty good....thats by far the only thing id recommend here...<br/>They do have a large selection of nonveg...the waiter gets the selection of the day on a large plate-having samples of all types of nonveg items....that is an interesting way of marketing in a restaurant!

For a spicy chettinaud treat i recommend this hotel... each and every food ll taste authentically best ..... the best thing here is they provide a live menu of every day delicacy in a very big plate
