Roasted pumpkin soup
Pull apart garlic bread
Chicago style cheesey fries
Surkh lal paneer tikka
Dahi ke Dooley
Apple mint mojito
Paneer lababdar
Chocolate brownie with Ice-cream
Brownie sundae
The soup had a strong flavour it had a supremely creamy texture and is highly recommended. The pull apart bread could use a little bit more work but the cheesey fries is a good starter. Dahi ki Dooley had an oily bread top but the dahi filling was out of the world. The paneer tikka was another great dish it was soft and succulent. Paneer lababdar was a little bit of a let down for me for I was hoping for a more richer flavour. The mojito was good drink and went well along with most the paneer and dahi ku sooley. The desserts were good.

From 4ft Rocket Dosa, Karnataka's famous Kadubu Idli and BisiBelaBath, Mexican Enchiladas, Chinese Lotus stem starters and finishing off with a delicious rose milk, we truly had a multi cultural dinner in the third branch of @mathsyarestaurant in Adyar (others being in Egmore and T. Nagar).
Priced at 400 their speciality 4ft Dosa could easily serve 5-6 ppl with large portions.
Their taste and quality is exactly the same as their other branches and would definitely recommend going for a family outing

Mathsya is a popular restaurant in Chennai for South Indian, particularly Udupi style food. I had visited their Pondy Bazaar outlet multiple times. Now they have two more branches. Got to visit their Adyar outlet recently and this is the review.

Mathsya is a pure vegetarian restaurant, serving South Indian, North Indian dishes, as well as a few Chinese and Mexican items. But I decided to stay focused on the Udupi items they have on offer.

We were given a welcome drink- rose milk. Ordered Guliyappa (aka Paniyaram in tamil)- a dish where batter used to make dosa/idli is baked in the shape of small balls on a specialized tawa. Infused with some vegetables for added taste and served with chutney, sambar, the first item gave good start to the evening. Friends ordered some starters- lotus stem and fried corn. These were good, but I liked crispy corn served at Coal Barbeque and few other restaurants a bit better.

Neer dose is another coastal Karnataka special dish you should try. It is a thin layer of dosa served with coconut flakes and jiggery. Serving this in sets of 2 would have been better in my opinion.

Next ordered a plate of Kadubu. Kadubu is coastal Karnataka dish where idle batter is cooked in a cup made of jackfruit leaves. I was expecting the same, full sized Kadubu in jackfruit leaves. But we were served smaller sized ones- no difference in taste but missed the aroma of jackfruit leaves. Upon checking with management later we were told about the operational challenges- non-availability of jackfruit leaves and time it takes to cook during busy evenings.

While we waited for Rocket Masala Dosa, a four foot long Masala dosa, next order of Bisibee bath arrived. Taste was authentic. I had buttermilk for company while I savored on the bisibele bath (sambar rice). Rocket Masala dosa now arrived, drawing attention of everyone around, thanks to its long size. Masala is not stuffed inside like a conventional masala dosa but is supplied separately in bowls.

Wanted to try Mangalore Bonda and Thatte idli but didn’t have any space left. The items are reasonably priced. One Udupi item I felt missing in the menu was Patrode.

Overall Mathsya Adyar is a great vegetarian outlet in Adyar area to visit with family, for authentic south Indian food. They also have great collection of North Indian, Chinese dishes. There will be fair bit of waiting on weekends.

Today, I along with my friends Karthik Murali & Shrinidhi Hande visited Mathsya Restaurant, Adyar for dinner.

This is a pure veg restaurant. Being a pure veg myself(only in Saturday), I couldn’t have asked for a better restaurant. This brand hails from Udupi, Karnataka and is known for their delicacies like bisi-belle bath, neer dosa, kadubu & Guliappa to name a few.

We started with a welcome drink - rose milk. Post that we moved on to Tomato soup. My friends felt it was too sweet. For me, it was ok.

Then we ordered a dish made of corn. It was crispy and spicy. Liked the taste very much. Then it was Lotus Stem soaked in Chilli & Lemon. It tasted unique.

Then we ordered Neer Dosa. You shouldn’t miss it if you’re looking for Udupi delicacies apart from bisibeke bath, guliappa & kadubu. Kadubu is usually served in jack fruit leaf but since the leaf is a rarity and it takes time to prepare, we got it in a normal way. So, don’t be disappointed, if you were expecting that style. The taste is intact.

The highlight was the rocket Dosa. It is a 4 feet Dosa which could easily satisfy the hunger of 4 people. It comes with lot of coconut & mint Chutney, Sambar, potato masala.

We ended our dinner with a sweet lime juice. Shrinidhi alone ordered butter milk.

Highly recommended. Be early because it is jam packed. You may have to wait in the queue before you get your turn but it is worth your time and money.

Nice place for quick bites and amazing food and drinks ( non alcoholic ofcourse ) dosas were crisp and chutneys at the right spice levels . The mangalore bondas are my favorite. My daughter loved it here because the spice levels were favorable to her American taste buds .. my son loved the lemonades and soft idlis .. good ambience .. not overly crowded and Chennai you make such amazing filter coffees

Near Adyar bus stand and Adyar flyover. Ambience is good. The restaurant was very crowded on the weekend. We were the first ones to enter in the evening at 7 p.m. Both buffet and à la carte options are available. One of the starters (pull apart garlic bread)we ordered was complete let down but the rest of the food we ordered was excellent. Most people queued for the buffet option.

Want to have a perfect date on Roof top garden restaurant with rain drizzling, Time to go for Mathsya Adayar. Use lift or the stylish stairs to reach rooftops. Don’t settle indoors. But indoor is a great place for buffet.

The place is located near the main junction of Adyar and same complex as Mcdonald. The place was crowded and most of the people were there for buffet. We chose Ala Carte and went with both Indian and Continental. Taste was good and food was served quickly even with the crowded place. Portion justify the prices. The ambiance is good and is good place for lunch or dinner with family and friends

The starters were really very good especially the mushroom cappuccino, cheese balls and pizza. I was disappointed with the main course The 'kaju matar makhana' was very sweet and seemed like a dessert (payasam to be exact), navaratan pulao was again disappointing but the bisi bele bath, multigrain dosa and pineapple raita were amazing. Coming to dessert brownie was very bad, but the mathsya special faluda and apple pie with icecream were worth a try. Now coming to the ambience, too much noise (shouldn't be considered as fine dine), one of the lights was flickering which was very disturbing. And there is NO VALET parking, i don't know why everywhere it shows that it has.

The best vegetarian buffet spread you can find in Chennai. Always a pleasure to dine here. Accomodates a good number of people at a time. Maybe crowded during weekends as expected elsewhere. Valet and basement parking available.

It's pure vegetarian restaurant.. The staffs are cordial.. Buffet for Rs. 500/-per person was just too good. There were lots of varieties.. Rice.. Biriyani.. Noodles. Rotis with varied side dishes and regular south Indian menu.. 4 varieties of deserts and a drink.. Loved it

It was a pleasure dining at Mathysa Restaurant, Adyar Branch. I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a delightful ambiance that set the stage for a memorable culinary journey. First and foremost, the food at Mathysa is simply outstanding. The menu offers a wide range of delectable dishes, blending traditional flavors with modern culinary techniques. Each dish was thoughtfully crafted and presented with finesse. The flavors were balanced, and the ingredients used were fresh and of the highest quality. I particularly enjoyed their signature dishes, such as the flavorful Thattu Idly, Sapthaswara Oothamppam and Raja Raja Cholan Dosai. The chef's expertise was evident in every bite, leaving me craving for more. It doesn't stop only with south Indian items. Their expertise extended to north Indian starters such as Paneer Tikka and Corn Tiki. I ended up with a super strong coffee which was good too. I can't rank them as top to bottom as each dish was good in its own way. The service is top-notch. The staff members are attentive, friendly, and well-versed in the menu. They patiently provided excellent recommendations, ensuring that my dining experience was tailored to my preferences. The service was prompt, and my needs were always anticipated without being intrusive. The restaurant's ambiance is stylish and inviting, with tasteful decor that creates a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The seating arrangements provide both privacy and a sense of openness, allowing for an intimate meal or a gathering with friends and family. The lighting and music complement the dining experience perfectly, creating a pleasant and soothing ambiance. Furthermore, they pay meticulous attention to hygiene and cleanliness. The restaurant maintains impeccable standards of cleanliness and adheres to all necessary safety protocols, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for diners. Overall, Mathysa Restaurant, Adyar Branch is a gem for every VEGETARIAN food lover that deserves every bit of praise. The combination of exquisite food, impeccable service, and inviting ambiance makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this is a culinary destination that promises to delight your taste buds and leave you with cherished memories. I highly recommend this restaurant to all food enthusiasts looking for a gastronomic adventure in Chennai.

Just went for a buffet lunch over a weekend with family. Starters were all delicious. Main course is limited with normal south indian meals. Deserts were good. Visited again and enjoyed the buffet again. What quiet disturbing was, a group of ladies, might be friends, who joined there for lunch wad making horrible noise without the concern of fellow people who have come to enjoy a peaceful lunch. We strongly condemn this attitude as this is not a party hall for meeting. Thats a dining area. I preferably bring this to the notice of the manager of the restaurant.
