Review Pavilion - Coimbatore

balaji viswanathan
Good buffet spread and live counters for Dosa, Roti, Pizza and Pasta. Many varieties to try and the starters and desserts are the highlights. Wish the main course was in heated containers. It's warm in the beginning but gets cold; not what you expect when paying a premium price.

Wonderful restaurant for buffet lunch. Awesome varieties on both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Great value for money and moreover we can have relaxed lunch. The entree and desserts were really good. The price is very reasonable and we would definitely visit again.

Stayed here during a business trip. The rooms were good, clean and the service was impeccable. During my stay, i tried the pavilion for dinner and breakfast and it was really good. The chefs know their stuff and the South India spread is killer. The breakfast was equally perfect. The French toast - a must try! Excellent place to have buffet food.

They're undoubtedly the best! The food, the service and the fact that they go out of their way to provide you with impeccable service. The lunch buffet is perfectly curated. The food is beautifully presented and the taste, more than lives up to it. The staff is ever so kind. You get personal attention during a buffet here, and that is rare. The chefs are talented and how!! I was truly impressed. They have the cutest concept of giving credit to the chefs by naming the dishes after the ones who cooked it. I absolutely love how they pampered us during our visit. My family and I are definitely going back for this.

One of the best buffet restaurant in Coimbatore inside Residency Towers, Avinashi Road. Every dish was excellent. Lots of desert.A bit costly but worth the money. Inside Residency Tower Hotel. Ample space for car parking. Best restaurant with good customer service.

Hands Down one of the best places to have buffet. Wide variety of food on offer. Worth every penny you shell out. Everything seemed perfect from the beginning till the end. Valet parking is offered. Chef walks around asking for feedback/suggestions. Plethora of options to choose from. Though expensive, the experience is worth it.

All kind of foods were good. Only draw back was the desserts. It doesn't match high standards set by themselves with other items. Not all desserts were bad. But some were. Also no panipuri item in the noon food. Service was excellent. Atmosphere could be better than this . Especially it's not feeling spacious enough. Also two musics were playing at the same time in nearby speakers which was unpleasant. Restrooms are pukka. Live counters were good.

A chick place within the residency towers for a nice business dinner, family dinner or a romantic dinner suits all. Wide spread menu and tasty too. It is mostly difficult to find tasty and wide spread options in most restaurants or five star hotels within the city but this is an apt place in the heart of the sunday. There are four restaurants in this premise and all of them serve alcohol choices. Really good options for the guests who stay and also for visitors who would like to choose for restaurants. It is better to book a table before arriving.

One of the best place to have food. They have plenty of variety, we need to check available items , not all the items on display. Pasta to dosai, everything is available. Cake variety is awesome. They change dish every day, so we may miss items on alternative days. Few minus, Curd items got too much of ginger taste. Salty appam. I suggest to try Afgan grill in next door.

The renovated Pavilion is awesome. Lighting is more bright and looks contemporary. The spread is very good. Food tasted good too. The staff were very polite and the restaurant manager stopped by our table to enquire how the food and service was. We ordered pizza at the pizza counter, but that took forever to come. I will definitely recommend this restaurant and will visit again

The Food we had enjoyed at the time of lunch. It was really delicious taste with great quality, everything had an unique taste which we had ordered, nice arrangement and services from the staff .

#Desserts #Ambience #Starters #Service #price are positives of pavilion... Few things to be improved are - The main courses can be quiet improved - Fresh Juice quality must be improved - Limited main dishes in non veg..
Tamilarasu V
It was a nice buffet lunch. The restaurant was also having a facelift after the renovation. The varieties are good. You have Mushroom veg biryani, White rice, Sambar, Rasam, Poriyal with pappads, pickles, Breads are to order. For veg dishes Kadai Veg, Paneer Butter Masala were available and for non-veg Chicken gravy, Lamb, Fish fry, egg masal and peri peri chicken was there. You also get Mutton biryani with raitha. There were also extensive salada, desserts and gheers. You also get cut and full fruits. Its good to see the non-veg items in a separate counter. The salads were not so fresh. We had to wait for the ordered breads for long time. You will enjoy the food

A great place for relishing varieties of food in buffet lunch.Enjoyed my visit here last week. The ambience and the hospitality was excellent!👍Loved all the chicken dishes especially!

Best Hotel in Coimbatore. Love the ambience. The check in was super fast. Rooms are very comfy. The pavilion restuarant has the best of the best south indian buffet with big fat desert section. The chef' and team took very well of us. Specially Dora personally took care of my diet plan. Thanks team

Best Buffet in town for Vegetarians! ❤

Excellent spread of starters , main courses and desserts. Very good options for vegetarians. Live counters with choice of veg or non veg available as well. The ambience of the restaurant was very nice, warm and inviting. Veg pasta salad and wine beet root were wonderful starter items for vegetarians. Paneer starter was well balanced with soft paneer and right mix of spices. Kudiravali sadham was a surprising delight in the main course. Lacha paratha and butter nan were made to order and were very soft. So many choices of pastries to pick from the desserts sections but my favorite was the strawberry mousse. Fig and Honey ice cream sounded promising but could have been better. Overall a very good experience and worth another visit.

I have eaten quite a few of my meals here while in Coimbatore and enjoyed the appams and stew and all the non veg curries. Service is great and the waiters are very polite and helpful ....

The never ending lunch menu at pavilion !! The best high class lunch experience.
1. Service - perfect and best of all the star hotels
2. Taste - well experience cook for all cousins gives an outstanding taste.
3. Ambiance- no words calm and beautiful post renovation great look!!
4. Price - costly for the best and fresh delight.

Firstly service was very slow ( even when it was not crowded) . Also they initially did not honor Zomato Gold discount their reason being we ordered non alcoholic drinks. Later they gave a discount for only 1 drink. Altogether not a good experience for a place like residency.
Abhishek Dutta
Good food and a big spread buffet.
But very expensive. 1100 per person
Quality is very good and ambiance also is good. But at this price there are many equally good options

The Pavilion- a ghost of Christmas past

One would always remember the Christmas spread of Residency at the Pavilion with its innumerable dishes, turkey and old world charm.. Oh, how the mighty have fallen!! The lunch buffet we had last Monday was a far cry from the residency of old.

Service and Hospitality - 1/5

Clueless staff, poor service and a general lackadaisical attitude made me wonder if I was really at Coimbatore’s famed ‘Residency’ or some cheap downmarket knockoff. Waiters were slow to respond and didn’t show the courtesy expected from a hotel of this calibre.

Food -3/5

The food was quite average. The starters were dull and uninspired, be it the tawa fish or the make-your-own stir fry (tried the squid, lamb etc). Mutton kola balls were a good try but you (Yeah, you Residency chef!!) gotta take a leaf out of the Valarmati’s cookbook. Mangalorean mutton was a messy red hodgepodge of poorly cooked mutton pieces. The saving grace was the Chicken biriyani , which was sumptuous, flavorful and tasty. Dessert was nothing to write home about.

Drink - 1/5

They didn’t have an ‘Old Fashioned’ whiskey even though it was on the very limited menu. Ditto for Baileys. Slow service added to the poor overall experience.

Finally, to add insult to injury (after paying an exorbitant 1.3k/head ) , they failed to inform us until 15 minutes after we started , the closing time of the buffet.

A sad, sad story of a once great hotel slowly sliding into mediocrity!

I had to get to krave, everything was closed.
Cheaters don't give correct times!

These places are just for show, they have lied on zomato to get more people into their place for food. This is so pathetic. Krave works only with such disappointed people

Friendly staff and yummy Food :) Alot of varieties. Worth the price. Cheers !!! Interiors, Lighting and ambience is very much inviting. Will definitely visit again.

The buffet dinner in the restaurant gives you a choice across all major cuisine. So you are not starved for choice - Chinese, Italian, Mughlai etc and logically South Indian. I tried a variett cutting across cuisine - To start with the stir fry ( I chose a few vegetables with chicken and egg in garlic sauce) was good with that typical open fire taste. The Aappam with vegetable stew was good too - but not having a choice of a egg or non veg stew is something which surprised me!! They can do with that for sure. The Kambhu curd rice got me experimenting - wondering how would it taste as against the normal curd rice which I truly love. Was truly disappointed with not only the Kambhu curd rice but also the normal curd rice. Let me add that the bisi bele bath was awesome. The restaurant can be truly better by adding that extra zing in the taste - the waiters and managers need to be more helpful and proactive - like no one appears to be bothered you are there - they need to help the guest in making a choice. I tried talking to a few but did not get a response I expected!! I will definitely come back to try out a few other things - specially the Mughlai counter coz the one chicken piece I tried was awesome😊😊😊

Wanted to have some quiet time with good food , we were meeting up after a long long time .
We chose residency pavilion !!
The food was so bad and stale !
Nothing was hot here . Every dish was cold
Except the soup
The papad were like paper in soggy water
The service was so so slow
Even fruits were not fresh
Rasamalai could be used to hurt someone if u hurl at them
I was so starved , because every dish u couldn’t have more than one mouth . Decided to eat curd rice and guess what it was so sour !
Even the finger bowl had cold water
1100 for each person !!!!!
These ppl are supposed to pay us for having spent time and money and ending up feeling so sick !
Worst worst restaurant

Wowwwww. Friendly nature staffs and received a warm welcome from them. Neat and hygienic place in Coimbatore. it's much better than Le Meridian. There were nearly more than10 types of salads. nearly 15 items of main course and separate Aapam, Dosa, Indian breads, Pasta, Pizza live counter and finally more than 10 types of deserts - every thing was cooked and arranged properly . I really loved this place. Would visit again and I highly recommend others. One of the best place in Coimbatore
Swathi Eshwaramoorthy
If you want a midnight buffet in coimbatore here is the place . The price was reasonable and food was really good as far vegetarians are concerned. The live counters were pretty fast with their service.

I can say perfect 5 stars for the buffet in Pavilion hotel. Everything is superb in this restaurant. Salads especially Chicken+Egg+Cheese which was awesome. Dosa and Appam live corners wil tempt to eat more of its hizzzzzzing sound and smell specially Ghee roast. Best pick is Appam with mutton gravy which will tempting you to pick more in ur plate

Happened to stay at Residency during my recent business visit to coimbatore.. I only had a chance of having breakfast in the Pavilion.. Loved the varieties on their menu and the tasty south Indian dishes.. The place is well crafted with a nice ambience.. I will definitely give a try on their lunch and dinner options the next time..
Nikhil Madathil
Very costly weekend buffet but definitely not worth the money. They charge 1000 bucks for a very ordinary buffet spread that it's fully Indian and one has to ask for Indian breads to be served. You will not get even a welcome drink. The desserts we good though and the only saving grace.

I was really hesitant to venture into Residency, given that it is one of the big hotels to be hit adversely by the Supreme Court order.
Yet I decided to take the risk and walk into the Pavilion.
Before I get to the main body of the review I have to mention that no matter what happens, Residency will continue to be a symbol of pure class and elegance.
When I walked in at 1930 hrs, there were only a couple of in-house guests having dinner. By the time I walked out it was almost 50% full, which is great given it was a weekday & no alcohol served.
I had a look around the dishes available on the buffet.
It wasn't the most extravagant of dishes, but they did provide the required degree of variety expected from a buffet.
Unfortunately being a Vegetarian eliminates a large chunk of choices, leaving behind the standard 1 soup, rice, noodles, a couple of side dishes, roti/dosa & sabzi.
What it lacked in variety (only the veg section) they more than made up in the taste.
In the very first spoon of the soup, I was reminded that Liquor or not, Residency is still a force to reckon with when it comes to fine dining.
I spent the next 2 hours lazily grazing through the rest of the dishes. The beautiful yet subtle ambiance complimented the food to near perfection.
The desert section was a power packed & gentle ride for the taste buds. Its a haven for anyone who has a sweet tooth.
But it was the finale that left me utterly flabbergasted.
COFFEE.
Near perfect. And that's all I'll say about it.
So basically to sum up, the Court judgement has affected everyone, & the aftermath was clearly seen. Yet at such a critical juncture for the Tourism & Hotel industry, they have yet again managed to keep up their lofty standards of customer satisfaction.
Finally, the cost. For the sheer quantity, quality & variety available I would have paid at least twice of what I did. So yeah that a MASSIVE plus point.
Still a powerhouse to reckon with in the field of Fine Dining in Coimbatore.

Been there for buffet lunch for a treat. They had very wide range of food and extraordinary desserts.. am writing this review toooooo late that it has been 10+ years I tasted here.. and was shocked/astonished/whatever by seeing the price for a plate of curd rice.

Elegance and Beauty the two words that come to my mind when I reached the Pavilion in residency hotel. I had the lunch buffet. The flavors dance to a elegant song in my mouth when I finished the meal. I liked the cream of Mushroom soup. It is the best that I have tested elsewhere. The starters were impressive especially the Stir fry veggies in Sesame and Mushroom tikka.

The main course I had was roti, Paneer butter masala ,coriander noodles, Jeera pulav. The coriander noodles had the subtle nuance of a coriander taste in the normal noodle. The Jeera pulav had separate basmati grains that I could count them.

Desserts were class apart especially the tiramisu, Chocolate truffles and Indian dessert of rasmalai. I also had a Mango baked yogurt, Some ice cream and a new dish called maida sandwich. The maida sandwich wasn't that sweet.

Service was on mark and plates and bowls used were removed once the course got over. The Rotis that we ordered came to us faster.

Service - 4/5
Soup - 5/5
Main Course - 3.5/5 (Improvement in Fried rice )
Starters - 3.5/5 (Tandoori Gobi was a letdown)
Desserts - 5/5

The buffet here has a large spread of both veg and non-veg items. Particularly the pastry and dessert dishes are plentiful. However the taste have gone down in the recent years and the ambience also requires a revamp. Eventhough the restaurant is understaffed, the available few are courteous. Overall ok for the price we pay.

First Look: "The Residency" this defines how the place will be. Elegant touch with great ambience. went for a buffet lunch.

Pros: Good number of dishes, Good tastes

Cons: Waited for plates and bowls as they were not refilled. Poor service experienced.

Best Place for: Team hangout, Family gathering.

Best to Taste: Grill chicken in live counter (Menu changes), Wide variety of desserts.

Ratings

Service: 1/5

Ambience: 4/5

Cost: 3.5/5

Taste: 3/5

One line Review: Ideal place for both veg and non-veg buffet

This was Coimbatore's first 3 star hotel. Has a classic, old town feel to it still, which I love. The buffet is widespread and the food is good. Desserts are a killer here. I've lost count of how many times I've been here just for the chocolate mousse.

Good food. Good ambiance. Helpful staff.

Was here for Diwali. Had breakfast, lunch and dinner. I simply loved it. The spread is vast, the service is quick, the tables spotless and the taste spot-on.

No complaints, except one - if you dine at the Pavilion continuously (say lunch, dinner and then lunch the next day), you will notice dishes being repeated. You will also notice other dishes that just undergo a name change and an addition of another ingredient (ie Singapore noodles for lunch; jungle noodles for dinner - which ideally is the same Singapore noodles with garam masala). This is a huge put-off.

I am not one to usually go to a place like residency for breakfast . More of a small town mess guy for breakfast . I thought let's see what's the fuss about having breakfast at a star hotel and see the worth of the money you pay for it. They had a huge spread . Lots of food . And the only good things I can say are they had very good gulab jamun for dessert and vada . The rest was just garbage . The bacon was cut too thick , anybody who has had good bacon would know this was a monstrosity. The fried eggs were normal except that the egg yolk had a strange colour. Being in south India how could they mess up the sambhar that goes along with the dosa . I saw that they had coconut milk, a delicacy I used to love as a child so I ordered the aapam. When they served it to me it was ice cold but I really wanted to try the coconut milk so I had it without complaint only to spit out the first bite of coconut milk . Why would you add so much cardamom to coconut milk which had such a good flavour on its own . I am never ever going back here not even to wash my hands.

One of the best buffet places in Coimbatore. The fish of the day was excellent. Desserts were amazing. There was a lot of variety when it came to food. Would surely visit again someday.
Priyanka Agarwal
Ambience of this place is just amazing, food not so much but the service is great again!!!! Overall a good experience!! So you could try it out!!!
Vineet
Not a place to be if you are a vegan. They do not have much to offer and whatever they offer literally tastes bad. I had ordered bhatti paneer, some rotis, panner tikka masala and biryani. Paneer tikka masala looked as if they had removed the chicken pieces and added paneer in the gravy, and i say this because ive never eaten a panner gravy so damm oily. The only decent thing was the veg biryani and vanilla ice cream..
Pankaj
Had a buffet dinner here. The food tasted really really amazingggg... Esp. the chicken which was mouth wateringly tasty. Lots and lots of varieties amongst the courses of the dinner. Desserts were delicious. Quite expensive I would say. Spent about Rs. 1900 for a couple but I would say it's worth it :) I would definitely try this place again but for a brunch the next time
Bhagyam Mahadevan
Stayed in the Residency hotel for a night. Loved the breakfast spread. There was a wide variety of chicken, ham , bacon, beef, colourful desserts , various choices of breads, everything was perfect.
One of the best breakfasts I've had in Coimbatore :)
Would definitely visit this place more often

Well just the perfect place at cbe if you plan to pamper yourself with a breakfast treat 😀. Right from euro/continental to nama ooru tamil breakfast the menu is a long delicious one.
Let it be the crispy dosa or the soft idly or the well baked wheat bread all were well done with a perfect accompanying curries or sides.

I loved the chicken bacon and beef gravy. Bacon was not to my exact liking though. But my buddy was saying its good

And surprisingly they has a killer masala tea. 😍😍😍. This will be a place of frequent whenever am in cbe for sure.
Swetank Ambar
First of all the place has a nice ambiance. Tried buffet and it majorly consists of traditional Tamil food. The spread was good. Deserts are also a must try. They have different types of meats and for vegetarians a lot of Tamil choices. Staff takes care of attending the table. Only downside is similar menu everyday. Breakfast is in general good in all respects.
Sharath Murthy
Truly one of the best accommodations in Coimbatore. After a pretty long drive from Bangalore, the staff received us with a warm welcome. The check-in formalities were pretty quick while we sipped on a refreshing welcome drink. The rooms are very well maintained and luxurious.

The breakfast spread is elaborate...consisting of South Indian, continental, wide spread of fresh fruits and vegetables. There was also a live counter catering to Dosas. The accompaniments (wide variety of chutneys and sambhar) were tasty. The butter milk and pudina lime juice were just perfect for the harsh summer in the city.

For dinner, we opted for the set buffet. Again, the list of the menu items were elaborate. The food was really tasty and left us wanting for more. We (10 of us) tried almost all the dishes on the menu, both veg and non-veg items. The dessert was impressive too.
Adithya Sridharan
This place has been in Coimbatore for many years. It s one of the best places in Coimbatore. It has an amazing buffet. Food is really yummy. They have amazing meat. They also have a pasta bar. A must try if you are looking to have a good buffet lunch.
Prithivi Raj
Had lunch here. Quiet, pleasing service and food was pretty good. If u want you can have a word with Chef about your query. Probably the best spot for holding functions serving brunch, lunch & dinner. They arrange for a trial serve for 4 with your selected menu. Impressive was the dessert, its varieties, especially the mousse was damn good. Perfect for date nights. For all cricket fanatics out there, yes, they screen it while you savour your fav dish.
Harsh D Sheth
We had gone for the dinner buffet a couple of days back and had a really terrible experience. The attitude and service of the staff is pathetic.
The buffet itself is not worth mentioning. The grilled fish wasn't fresh at all. The biryani was cold. The starters were very average and the the desserts disappointing. The beer we ordered also was flat.
One of my friends did not want the buffet and chose to go a la Carte and ask for a arabiatta which took 45 mins to come. And it wasn't even great. A sun feast ready to eat would've been a better bet.
If you really enjoy careless service and a stick up the butt attitude then you must visit this place!! Otherwise stay away
Dhanushya
One of the oldest and best restaurants in the city with the classic touch. The ambience and the place gives you a royal feel .Dim lights with classic touch ambience is absolutely perfect for dinner. They offer wide varieties of dishes. I preferred a buffet which had all different types of veg and non veg dishes. I love the fish fry , veg kofta curry and malabar mutton briyanai. They also provide dosa and hot appa served with paya . The non veg starters was pretty tasty. Finally have space for the desserts. There are so much which would confuse you. Don't forget to taste everything. As I went for a easter dinner they had a easter chocolate Eggs filled with full of chocolate yummy it was. And don't forget to try out the rasmalai, sweet tooth people will never miss it.

The food, ambience and cost everything is perfect and pretty costly.

Visited the place to join a friend for Sunday buffet breakfast at The Pavilion.
Ambience is pleasing and the décor is mild with peaceful colors and tasteful mughalai painted wall and hanging lights. Tables are neither too crowded nor spread out. Leg space is decent .
The service is very pleasant, waiters courteous and professional. The response is prompt and demands are met politely.
The buffet is huge with lot of vegetarian varieties. It covers South indian counter, continental counter, salad counter, cereal counter, live counter, dessert counter and beverage counter.
South Indian has idly, vada, idiyapam, pongal, upma, sweet like payasam or kesari. Tomato chutney, tamarind chutney, mint or coriander chutney, coconut chutney, vegetable stew, coconut milk, idli podi and oil, sambar.
The live counter serves waffles, pancakes, all varieties of dosa and oothapam. Poori and sabji and bread toast ( wheat, milk or multigrain)
Continental includes pasta, herbed potato, sausage, ham, boiled egg, vegetables and bacon.
Salad counter has carrot cucumber tomato, three seasonal fruits, banana, cheese cubes, cold pasta, chicken cubes, flavored yoghurt and curd etc.
Cereal counter serves cornflakes, muesli, chocos with raisins, walnuts, honey ,hot and cold milk.
Beverages include three seasonal fruit or vegetable juices, buttermilk and lassi .
There is crossaints, sweet buns, flavored buns at the bread counter
Dessert includes a sweet like jamun, ice cream, brownie, tea cakes, cup cakes .
Coffee, tea is served hot on table.
Overall a good spread and good taste.
Travelandfood
It's a 24hr diner and scores high for the ambience. You have choices for a buffet or a la carte. I have no complaints on the varieties they offer over veg and non veg dishes but some dishes could still be improved. Especially, the biryani....Chef I couldn't feel the flavour of spices and the chicken. Go light in the rosewater. I had it on two consecutive days and the biryani was poor. Ambur mutton biryani was okay. But I loved the kung pao chicken and the mutton gravy.

Finally the deserts. You can't stop having them and there are so many varieties. I had some ice cream with cashews and chocolate syrup, rasmalai, badam halwa, watermelon jelly and caramel cake. It was top notch.

Might come again for the ambience and the desert but I would really appreciate if you could look into the biryani.

The Pavilion name showcases its food taste as we had ordered for burgers there with coffee & ice cream in evening ,It was well presented and well served to us as well. My kids and wife enjoyed there.
Priyanka S
1st of al as v all know ambience can't b compromised... Talking about the taste... Buffet is good and everything tasted good upto the expectations... Only drawback is about the service... They don't bother to take away the used plates and replace the table with new fork or spoons... I mean they're very very slow compared to even smallest buffet places i've seen in bangalore where they work on heels... Otherwise definitely a must try buffet in coimbatore

I had been for dinner yesterday and I regret to say that the food was a let down. To the variety that what other restaurants provide at the given price, Residency provided only 2 starters.
Main course gravies were too blank in taste hardly could get any flavour
Dessert were good and provided a good range of options
Joshua Lawrence
One of the best buffets in Coimbatore. I was surprised with the total number of dishes that's being provided here. It's very good. Certainly worth for the money being paid and very good ambience
Josh
Used to be really good but not anymore .The buffet spread is pretty decent , though not many continental dishes . vegetarians will really love the various dishes offered and Dessert's and salads are very limited .Food tastes alright, nothing special .
However the food festivals held here are worth going for .

Cons:

. Too noisy

. Tables are very closely placed

. Ambiance is very bright

Went here for lunch today. The ambiance was exceptional and the staff were very courteous. The food was great except the fact that the dessert spoons weren't refilled, so we had to wait a while because the staff were busy attending others as well. Other than that it was really nice. A must go place for the buffet if you hav a decent depth in wallet ;)

I've been to residency for lunch and dinner, but today was the first time I went there for breakfast and honestly, I was not very satisfied. I went along with 6 others and all they could offer at 10:30 am were idly, uthappam, soda and idly. The taste also was pretty normal.

Let me sum it up first
Food- awesome but not like Chennai counterpart
Service - good
Location - easy access
Experience - fair
On the whole good.

At any restaurant even if the food is decent and passable, Service is what makes your evening special and complete. And at this joint it is at its absolute worst. The waiters barely understand English or the regional language(except the managers and the little higher personals). One female staff even had the gall to point a finger at one of my family member(who is not fluent in their particular language) as to "what exactly do u want?". She was so rude and started shouting in front of everyone.Tho we gave it right back to her and asked for the manager , not much steps were taken to convince us of what she had done ...So to me service wise ..one of the worst joints in town ..no wonder it has lost its past glory...and the food is nothing special as well ,average but passable.but at the end of the day the service puts a full stop at us visiing this unfriendly place ever again ..GOOD RIDDANCE!!

If I remember, the residency hotel which I had been was located at the avinashi road. The restaurant in the picture looks same though. I had been here, three years down the lane. Apologies for writing the reviews now. We had been here for lunch buffet. The ambiance was great. Well mannered staff and the food was superb. I had tried most of the buffets in Coimbatore (3 years back), and I should say this was one of the best among it. I would recommend this place for a lazy lunch buffet anytime!

By far the best breakfast buffet in the city, provided your first and foremost priority is the spread of items! Continental, South Indian, North Indian, Salads and juices, you name if the same will be available here. Food quality is definitely matching the reputation that Residency has got among the Coimbatorians. Trust me, you will get old croissants and cupcakes even in some (read most!) four star hotels in the city, which is never the case with Residency. Friendly staff adds a personal touch to your tasty experience here. The only drawback I could see is the repetition of items. No matter whether its the best spread on earth or not, the sight of same old items in the very same positions is a turn off for the food connoisseur in me. This applies to even the juices they serve. The refreshing mint lemon and beetroot juice, awesome for 5 days..may be 6, but never for lifetime.
A definite try for someone new to the city.

Had buffet breakfast at pavilion today. Wat a spread. Awesome south Indian dishes like vada. Also nice ham, chicken sausages and amazing omlet counter. Lovely.

If at all I'm confused about choosing a dinner buffet from the elite hotels at Coimbatore, I go for the Pavilion-The Residency! The reason is so simple. Variety of dishes and palatable too. Easily accessible. Not so softer on pockets, but the buffet is best in the city. Can't specifically pick out one or two dishes in a buffet, but you won't get disappointed.

Visited this place last night. The ambience is very good but the music was too loud. The food was very good but the service was a bit slow had to wait almost 30 mins for the food to be served.. Over all the place is good the price is reasonable... Will visit again

Pathetic service and inexperience staff who don't know how to serve customers . Ordered food but after 30 mins they say kitchen is closed . Don't bother wasting ur time

First of all Residency is like pride of Coimbatore. It has got 3 restaurants totally. Out of which Pavilion is one of them. I have been tho this place number of times. Its like family get together for us and with friends i usually go for Midnight buffet on Saturday. Other than buffet all other items are costly for their quality. Buffet hasn't got so many varieties. It is normal restaurant buffet. As a 5 star hotel they could serve better at least for their name sake. My suggestion would be for MIDNIGHT BUFFET @ saturday after 12! where u get food for half the price say 450 bucks.

Wide variety of food. Nice ambience. Notice choice of option for a bunch out. Desserts are mouth watering and the service is awful. Nice place to try if you're starving badly.

Over the years, the pavilion at the residency has been one of those restaurants that has kept up with changing times and have stayed competitive food wise. Their lunch and dinner buffet spreads are among the best in coimbatore. They have a selection of Indian, continental, italian and Chinese dishes. The best part of their buffet is the elaborate dessert selection. This is our go to place for a meal when we're very hungry!

Earlier known as Coffee Pot, I have some of the funniest and finest moments attached to this restaurant. Revamped into Pavilion, it had brought in new food varieties and a better dining experience. Comparing to its recent competitors, the buffet offers the best desserts spread-out.

Its a 24 hours open coffee shop , located on the ground floor of the hotel and next to the shopping arcade. The prices of the restaurant are very reasonable and the buffet is pretty decent. Well lighted up place, good service. The location of the hotel itself is good and The Residency hotel used to be the most premium hotel in town before the opening of Meridian hotel but i still prefer this hotel over others in town mainly because of fabulous personalised service and excellent location and excellent value for money. The hotel and restaurant is pretty popular amongst locals as well as international travellers. The buffet has good options which will appeal and please all kind if pallets.

Went for a buffet and the food was cold. No variety and tasteless. Steward has no knowledge of food. And the manager Mr.Bala instead of being apologetic, is giving a lame excuse and has no regret. A total waste of money... Its just the Ambience that was good, well its a 3 star..thats the least I could expect

It was horrible.bad service.not worth of going, not to clean.they have a good decorations but the food does not have a taste.each items we ordered something went wrong

The 24x7 coffee shop of The Residency. The ambience is inviting and the decor bright.Tables are set in cubicles as well as in a fairly spread out layout.

The lunch buffet has a fair choice of veg and nonveg dishes ,while an ala Carte menu is also available. Didn't find the buffet too interesting so chose a Prawn Chettinad with parotta which was too good inspire of the heavy masala and chilli.Go for it anytime. The fried fish ???? had small pieces and the fillets were a bit too thin as a result too battery in taste and also too crisp.Veggies served with it were a bit too boiled and had lost their crispiness.A ice cream followed by a Cappuccino was a good ending.

A good comfy cool place to relax and kill time if you feel like.

A place which u can always rely on when u have an extraordinary craving for a sumptuous meal.. Be it lunch or dinner the spread is worth every penny spent .. This place s the mother of all if u are someone with a sweet tooth !!!
Their midnight buffet s also a must try
Kunal
This ones more famous for the Midnight Buffet. They have a humongous spread sure to leave a hole in your pocket and a happy belly. Meat eaters can have a gala out there, veggies not far behind.
Midnight buffet! FTW!

This is an amazing place to have good food with your friends and family. I suggest you go for their buffet lunch, as it is really worth the price. When i went, there was 8 salads, 14 veg, 6 non veg, 5 live counters and 20 desserts. The food was really good. And the ambiance, even better. I felt paying 900 bucks for the buffet was really worth it!

I used to be ardent fan of Pavilion (earlier it had different name) during my college days in 2000. At that time, Residency was only the bigger star hotel at Coimbatore. During those days i dine here atleast once in a month. i go there for lunch to have their Steamed rice with Brinjal Pulikozhambu. it was divine. their Buffet Spread was lavish and it was a great value for money those days.

14 years now their quality have drastically come down with the same "Food Festival' types promotions. And in my recent visit there i found the service was pathetic.

Now then Coimbatore has a varied option, it is a high time for them to scale up themselves and groom their service.

No Proactive decisions to visit here again.

The best buffet restaurant in town...the buffet is unbeatable n the varieties are countless...that too during food festivals is an added advantage...
