Review Ambur Star Biryani - Coimbatore

Anaz M.S
If you are going to Coimbatore you must try Ambur Biryani. The car was parked on the road side. The hotel is a little off the road. Hotel staff are courteous.

Overall good ambiance and service. The location is prime and delivery was fast. Only one drawback is no proper toilet. We have to go inside the kitchen to access. (I won't recommended for families to use)

Star biriyani at RS Puram. Restaurant with some parking space amidst the busy RS Puram roads. Restaurant was neat and homely and is open till 11pm in the night. We tried chicken biryani, fish 65, kola balls and tandoori and it all costed around 1950rs for 4 mems with an average of 500rs for a member. Server boy there helped us by informing when they cooked the biriany and which starters taste good and how will it be . Chicken biriyani - was outstanding. I went to the shop for more than 4 times and the taste was consitant. So dependable shop. Tandoori - rightly cooked with good taste. Dips provided were good. Kola balls - really enjoyed kola balls after a long time . Last time I enjoyed it was in a small restaurant named "trouser thatha kadai " and it felt the same taste here. Fish 65 - was usual and good. On the whole good restaurant to get good biriyani in RS Puram and biriyani lovers would love it.

One of the best Biriyani spots in coimbatore, a must visit place. Plenty of dine-in seat available. Take-out was not that long hardly 10 min of waiting time. Service was good. Food was really awesome. They do have options of biriyani in bucket. Next to it is a small cafe shop joint called Dearr. surprised to see many antique items on display. thy do have shakes as well.

Taste is awesome. But you need patience to wait for your order. But they serve you hot and fresh. Awesome food. Door delivery is also available

Biryani costs Rs.285 per plate. Quantity is very very less. Pieces are also very very less. Max they can charge Rs.80 per place for the quantity & pieces. Not worth for the money you pay.......

Star Biriyani is good only when it is hot, sometimes Biriyani won’t be hot & fresh, it disappoints us... Customer is the King 👑 of the business so please keep in mind & try to give good service in Rs Puram - Coimbatore

Tender and droolworthy Chicken Biryani served on Banana leaf #StarBiryani R..S Puram #Coimbatore...

And dont forget to taste ICE beeda from a small shop near it.

The food we ordered took lot of time to prepare,
We got the gravy and dry items but the roti and paratha was taken almost like 20mins to prepare.
Both were half burnt and the most surprising was the wheat paratha I ordered which they gave me as roti only saying it’s the same.
My rating is low for this place because of the time they took..
The waiter cannot say that food will be late because of more customers are waiting infact i saw only less in there.

Mutton Biriyani: Tasted amazing, note this is Ambur style, totally different from hyderabadi or traditional Muslim style biriyanis.
More mutton piece makes it really attractive.

Fish65: Amazing in taste!

Ordered a buffet for 30pax(20nv+10v):
Menu:
Veg soup - Marvelous! Every single person like it!
Rumali Roti: Ok
NV:
Mutton biriyani ( Famous in this place)
chicken Tikka: Ended up being lil hard.
Pepper Chicken: Folks felt spicy! But went good for rumali roti

Veg:
Fried Rice: This was good, people liked it but wasn't their fav.
Paneer Tikka: Everyone loved this! Brilliantly done, went well for both biriyanis.
Mushroom Gravy: Mixed reviews, but overall good.

Ice cream: Cornato cones !

Overall food was good.

Service: Very few people given for managing buffet.
Ambience: The hall was in first floor. Super big covered terrace for food arrangement, 40+ chairs to catch up and 45ppl seating AC hall!
No lift was a bummer for elderly folks!!

Everyone loved the food and experience!
Person attending the phone for taking home delivery orders is not customer centric. Not listening to customer preferences and losing orders from returning customers..

Briyani love..fantastic taste... Osm Briyani...mutton Briyani😋 and kadai roast and end up with virgin blue💙... Addict for star Briyani for their delicious taste and hospitality.

A moderate cost but high on quality eatery.

Hariharan called for a Mutton Biryani, which cost 199 Rs. Fragrant and with good chunks of bone in mutton.

I called for Prawns Masala. Rs 220. And there arrived a largish bowl of Prawns masala, with maybe ten to fifteen units of mid sized prawns. Actually a steal, back in Mumbai the fare would easily cost twice as much. Thick and spicy gravy, ginger laden and springy prawns. The accompanying wheat parathas were a super fit to the meal. Rs 40 a piece.

The Fresh Lime Soda - again Rs 40 - was a mediocre affair. They refused to serve the soda water bottle on the table, and insisted on serving their own premix concoction.

But definitely a salute to this place.

Biriyani taste is good , as compared to the Original Star Biriyani in Ambur 👍🏼
Ambience to be little good !
Overall good place to eat biriyani ,
*if you are a biriyani lover *

A very decent hotel where the food is great. And the combination of Biriyani with brinjal curry was literally the mesmerising dish of the hotel. It was pasty with correct flavour of salt and spices mixed to gather making a super chemistry with the biriyani. Now that's a local fusion food!
Saravanan Murthy
Food was very bad when compared to before. We ordered door delivery but it reached us after 70 minutes. The food became cold and most of them were salty. We wasted most of the food and felt guilty for it. It is too pricy for the food they serve. Hope they concentrate on quality rather than opening many branches.
Priyaa Viswanathan
Briyani's taste was good & ...... naatukolzhi chuka was also tasted good but only the veg pulav taste was horrible & ....paratha variety's wr good
Surya Kumar G
Their briyani is worth mentioning as they have enough quantity and reasonable price and top it their taste is also equally good....But the chicken dry that I had was only ordinary and no where matching to the quality of their briyani so if Ur a briyani lover this is a place to visit

Poor Ambience... We had to change our mind to make it a take away. Very mild Biryani which teens didn't like at all and kids liked a lot. Chicken 65 was too good and crispiness lasted for longtime.

We had already stayed in Coimbatore for a fortnight and had had our fair share of Dindigul Biryani (I believe that is what the Chennai biryani is called) when we visited this place. It's in a quaint locality with a large parking area. I was also informed that this is a part of chain of biryani joints that is quite famous in Tamil Nadu for their very different biryani.

What I had- Chicken biryani,Fried Fish and Sweet Lime Soda.
The soda was average and the fried fish was a large slice of crispy fried sea fish that is so popular here.It was delicious and had no fish-bones.
The biryani was another story altogether. The yellow coloured overcooked biryani was not only different from anything else we had had over our stay here but quite possibly one of the best I've had in my life. The chicken chunks were tender and the over-boiled rice, (which I was initially sceptical about ) with its perfect melody of spices just elevated the whole thing . It was so flavourful and comforting.

What I felt- Decor was quite pleasant with red walls and blinds. The seats were comfortable and the staff were efficient. The bathroom though didn't smell very nice.

Overall-Our best eating experience in Coimbatore. Cheers

Chicken and mutton biriyani is the star dish. You can also try grilled chicken and alfam here which are good. I don't remember the name but some chicken dry dishes are also tasty. Don't forget the ice beeda from the small shop in the front or just ask the billing counter.

First of all, this restaurant serves ambur style briyani. They have outlets in multiple cities.I have been to chennai, bangalore and Hosur outlets. And,they maintain the standard here too.

They are famous for their mutton briyani. Soft juicy mutton pieces. Tasty briyani.

I have never had such tender mutton pieces in briyani anywhere else.

They serve very good chettinadu chicken soup.Love the fact that it is pepper spicy and not chilly spicy.

Their chicken and mutton starters are pretty good too.

Absolutely love this place.

Would recommend to try only if you are going for Ambur style briyani. Mildly spicy with lot of mutton flavour.

Don't go expecting Coimbatore style briyani.

Tip:Reach the restaurant around 12 or 12:30 PM to get piping hot mutton briyani.

I had tried star briyani many times but didn't have dine out experience because their ambience looks so weird ...
This is meant for ambur style briyani , their briyani @ neither looks colourful nor attractive but it was really yummy ...Price is reasonable for the quantity ...
I would say that this is one of the best place to try non-veg starters and this became my all time favourite starter spot😋 and their shawarma too tastes good ...
I like to give 4.5 but I give only 4.0 because of their ambience ...

When this hotel opened people stood in queue to buy a biriyani. Now the biriyani is just above average. Few may still like this biriyani as it has a different style similiar to that made in "Ambur" while few doesn't prefer it. More than traditional south Indian dishes this hotel has mostly chinese and tandoori varieties. I do like their Chicken Lolly Pop.

Went there for lunch today when my colleagues and i had decided to try out this joint after spending a morning on a nearly empty stomach. Was a bit reluctant because of my horrible experience at Dindigul Venu Biryani. To my surprise, this place served the best biryani during my tine in Coimbatore. The biryani is kind of light and not very spicy which is good but at the same time the mutton or chicken was so tender and succulent. Overall a very good experience; just the place where we sat had a faulty A.C.
To any person visiting Coimbatore trying out this place is a must. Do try the Mutton Biryani and fish fry.
We also learnt that this place has branches in about 6 cities including Bangalore and Chennai and has been operating since 1890. Whoa!

Horrible Experience! Well let's get the first thing right. The 1.5 star rating is for their Biryani which was actually good. Hot, well cooked and tender meat with delicate spices. But then came the shocker. The person who served us made sure we got our biryani by "booking" a couple of plates and so technically we were the last ones to get it for the day. Now we couldn't finish the whole thing and hence had it packed and to our utter shock, the meat from the biryani was not packed and there was only rice. And I distinctly remember a "last plate" of biryani being hushed out suddenly as we left. I was left joining dots and it disgusted us to say the least having imagined ending up at the receiving end of someone's left overs. So we came back a couple of days later to pick up a few rolls and more importantly convey the experience to the manager. We were assured the manager would join us as we ate. He did not. I asked as many as three times to speak to him. Now again I was left to wonder that if nothing had happened then why wouldn't he come and speak? I was just given the feeling that this is something regular and paid my due and got out. I WILL NOT BE VISITING THIS PLACE NEITHER WOULD I RECOMMEND ANYBODY TO. Not to do with the taste but with their service and attitude. Money isn't everything in the restaurant business.

Great place for authentic Ambur style Biriyani!! Pricing is good.. average Ambience.. polite staffs.. All biriyani and chettinadu dishes are good.. must visit for Biriyani lovers..
Manoj Prabhakar
Went for a casual dining there. Ambience is good and service is okie. Food taste is not upto the price we pay. The grill was a little overcooked and briyani was a little different and lacked flavour a bit. Dont expect spiciness in briyani. Other than that the restaurant is fine
Saravanan Cbe
Even roadside shop will have better taste than this.. briyani tastes like tomato rice.. plz don't compare it with ambur briyani.. don't prefer this for having good briyani..
Suryah. A
Tried the restaurant for the first time. Briyani was excellent they ambience was neat not great . they are really keeping up their name unlike other restaurants the biriyani over here is a value for money. Ways to go
Shyam Madhav Karuvanoor
One of the few restaraunts in coimbatore especially for biriyani lovers. Hot, tasty and affordable. Best part is that they serve you the best brinjal curry along with the biriyani just like you find in Aasif biriyani at Chennai. Worth your money 😊

The hotel maintains the same taste as the ambur branch..the biriyani served here is so aromatic and delicious with tender pieces of meat..the only default are the side dishes..I always got used to side dishes available at the ambur branch..they should add up classic side dishes..the chicken lollipop is heavenly.. This is a true paradise for briyani lovers highly recommended

Over priced for the quantity they offer. Briyani is not upto to the mark with the one you get in Ambur. Briyani is too oily at the bottom especially if you take away.
Karthikeyan Bakthavachalam
The Best one. That too from Star Briyani ambur. Thank god they have a branch in Coimbatore. U can't compare any other Briyani with theirs.. A slight differ in taste but whn compared to others here. Its a better one.

This place was on my bookmark and expected in having a fine briyani here. Accordingly i had it. they had a decent ambiance quick response to the customers. first We ordered chicken briyani which was good and pieces in it was so soft and fresh. Then tried peper chicken not the worth to its price. chicken pieces were also less and too bony though.! not fully satisfied and thought of having shawarma it was really appetising.! it was simply the best.

This restaurant was located closer to my hotel. They have ample parking area. The ambience is simple and decent. They are more into the non veg stuff with a limited veg menu. Tried the kadai paneer. It had a spicy gravy with soft pieces of paneer. It had a lot of capsicum and onion pieces as well. The taste was good and the pricing was reasonable for the quantity. The lacha paratha was good and soft. Butter naam was soft . the service was also good.

Wonderful biriyani as always ..... I have already tried their biriyani in ambur... We had a great feast of mutton and chicken biriyani... Finally coimbatore got a best biriyani centre...

I'm not a big Biryani fan, but I'd come here for their Biryanis. There's something good about the Biryani they serve that I'm not able to explain. As a matter of fact, my father, who hates Biryanis, gets parcels from here. But you know what's the best dish here? If you ask me - The Shawarma. OMG. The Shawarmas are SO good! So, here's my rating :-
Restaurant and Biryani - 4/5
Shawarma - 5/5
Sandeep Ajeeth
The place is like our home dine in was good. I enter the place with so much expectation but experienced the taste of briyani as ordinariy. Its like ordinary non veg restaurant and its benchmark briyani is usual.
Dhanushya
This is the new briyani hub in the city which is very much famous for ambur briyani and the non veg starters . I tried their briyani already in the main shop which is located in ambur, vellor. So much rush and very crowded place finding a table is a difficult task. The briyani looks so mouth watering orange in colour served with spices . The very different style of briyani which every one need to taste definitely .And all the non veg chetinnad style starters are cooked well and taste the best.
Rohit Shinde
Food quality was not good. I had a biriyani and couldn't eat chicken in it. I was doubtful of chicken quality or maybe it was older.
Waste of money.
Sai Kushaal
On trusting the brand "Star briyani" and experiencing palatable briyani at Chennai,I would not even suggest people to order briyani in this branch.
Chinese cuisine lower in quality the chicken was not even boiled tasted raw.
The food was served chill.
Horrible experience.
Bhrthydspj@gmail.com
Had been to this restaurant twice.
1.Briyani taste is ok but too oily.
2. No punctuality.
3. Other than briyani, for other dishes are not so OK.
Pradeep Rajkumar
Just go for their biryani and gravies and pepper chicken.

Do not risk in ordering for other dishes...

It was very expensive and sometimes biryanis are overcooked and soggy.

Just give a try mates...

My first experience with star biriyani was a disaster. Though the time was only around 9 pm, on a weekday, they ran out of most of the dishes. Having only egg biriyani was a disappointment. But only later did we find out that the rice remains same, only the meat changes. So it was pretty much chicken/mutton biriyani sans the meat. Nothing special here, a bit too oily and undercooked I felt. The sides were decent, though most of the regulars were done with before we could order. The most distasteful dish was kothu parotta, of which ironically, the chicken/mutton varieties were over early. Dish was salted probably three or four times. In general the food was saltier than the Pacific ocean and Indian ocean put together. Parking isn't an issue, and the ambience was decent enough for family groups. The service was horrendous I should add. Although the first experience was dreadful, I believe further visits, if my mind allows me to, could be better
Ambience - 3.5/5
Taste - 2.5/5
VFM - 3/5
SATHISH Kumar
This place is a disaster just like the previous restaurants that were occupying the sane premises. Firstly, they are short staffed which means you will be asking the waiter several times as to when your order will be ready and they have no clue about the dishes on the menu. The briyani is bland and tastes like packaged tomato rice. They add unbelievable amount of spices and other taste makers in their gravies which makes you regret visiting the place. Everything here is over priced considering there is no ambience and the quality of food served. There are better places to have good food in the same vicinity but somehow people end up here as the place was advertised as the only authentic briyani makers.
Josh
They started out very poorly but slowly started getting their act together . now the biriyani taste really good, similar to their ambur branch and service is good aswell . The pepper chicken and chicken kebab are simply finger licking good . do try this place once and you will start loving it .

must try : chicken Kebab
Dr Gopinath Krishnamoorthy
BIRIYANI QUALITY-TO OILY,NOT UPTO THE MARK, AS THEY HYPED,SERVICE AND AMBIENCE -TOO BAD,

YOU CAN ORDER WHATEVER YOU WANT,BUT THEY SURPRISE YOU BY SERVING WHAT THEY HAVE,WITHOUT EVEN INFORMING YOU,BUSINESS STRATEGY
Adhith.S
The biriyani has the taste and quality as their main branch in Ambur. Also went for takeaway, stored the biriyani overnight and had the next day.It tasted really good. But found some difference in their Salna which was too watery.Chilly chicken tasted fine which had a proper marination.Service was prompt
Chitra Vijayakumar
I like ambur biriyani a lot and hence I visited this place. It wasn't up to what is expected, but was good. Pepper prawn we ordered was very tasty. Apart from that we ordered Hyderabad chicken which was too spicy.
Sathya Narayanan Subramanian
The worst biriyani experience ever. Came with my family and I'm totally disappointed with the choice of making it here. And for the ambience, A1's snackstreet had better utilization of it way better than these guys and their cheeky glitter hoarding STAR Biriyani.
