Review Sri Surya - Coimbatore

Valarmathi Sivaprakasam
A non vegetarian hotel in Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore. Crab soup, jeeraga samba biriyani, dynamite chicken are very delicious and mouth watering dishes. Very customer friendly atmosphere. Suitable for all age group.

Food quality was awesome. Bun parotta is a must try. Taste of the chutney & salna were exceptional and goes well with the Parotta. Would definitely recommend this place for parotta lovers!
Pandiya Rajan
I liked the food taste and quality. Staff are behav good with knowledge of their service. Atmosphere also very nice. A nice moment. Management need to take more care for the parking.

Iam just comparing it with it's Tirupur branch and the Ramanathapuram brach 1)Bun parotta is actually just as same as it is available in Tirupur 2)Biriyani was not as good as the one which we get in the Tirupur branches. 3)To be honest the mutton and chicken kulambu can be given only 2/5 stars.Because Surya is well known for its kulambu and it didn't even match what we get in other branches. 4)The Surya's famous pepper fry was top notch here ,the amount of ghee and quantity surprised me. So over all it's a good restaurant to try in that locality but still not bettet than other branches.

Nice place to dine with your family. Well treat by the workers. Food is also tasty.

Best mutton biriyani in town. The special chilli chicken and egg dynamite need special mention.

Loved the food here especially the bun porota (that's the first time I was having one and realised it is just the usual porota rolled into a bun) and the Hyderabadi chicken curry. Food is served in traditional banana leaves irrespective of what food you order. Ambience is good. Clean restrooms. Service was also good. They did not have any desserts except for a strawberry ice cream on that particular evening. I was planning to have the 'elaneer payasam' (tender coconut pudding) which has sort of become a sensation these days. It tastes good too. Unfortunately they didn't have it that evening. Pricing for a meal for 3 comes to about 850 Rs which is okay. They have limited parking space in front of the restaurant besides the road so please be wary of it.

True to the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover", the dishes here were delicious. Mutton nalli, Chicken 777, Mutton pepper were top on our lists. Ideal place for office parties.

I had bun parota , veechu parota and chicken pallipalyam.. wonderful food.. though costly its worth every rupee. Quick service..
Paramasivan Samuthiram
We tried Plain Biryani with Tandoori Chicken, Mutton Brain Fry. It was tasteful lunch! My son enjoyed drinking Elaneer Payasam in a sip.

Food is good and tasty but many options listed in their menu are not available. You may find their menu fancy listed with many dishes but most of the times only the basic dishes are available. Taste wise it's good and you can experience the authentic chettinad taste.
Nithya Balakrishnan
Authentic south Indian fare especially for Non- vegetarians.Reasonably good food in good price.food was tasty and fresh. Staff were customer friendly.

Top rated for taste. Comparing to other non veg hotels, it is costly. U can find some unique dishes like Salem mutton kulambu. For a pair, the bill would b approximately ₹700 in the evening. It starts only after 11:30pm, ie., lunch. Parking slot could accomodate 3 cars, since it is on the road (towards Ukkadam). Conclusion: If u really want a mouth lingering non veg in a pleasant ambience, without a delay just go for it (Don't forget your purse :) lol)

Have great experience. They treat us very politely. Food is decorative and taste great. Worth money.

I have been to this restaurant few times. Located at a good place, decent ambience. Their bun parotta was quite good. their briyani was also pretty good. Can give a try if you are around Ramanathapuram.

Lavanya Vedanayagam
It's a great place! The South Indian food is amazing. Try the tawa fry vanjaram, bun parotta, specific chettinad chicken curry and the chicken biriyani!
Syed Samiullah
Food was average. Late in the evening when I went alone, the supplier was very careless. When the staffs outside is like this, don't know how the kitchen staffs are.
Karunya
Went for lunch along with my friends. Parking was a little tricky as there is only street side parking available on that busy road. Food wise, all the dishes that we had were too good and authentic. If you want to try south indian food, hands down my first recommendation would be this one.

We ordered 3 nonveg starters yesterday from sri surya for dinner and we were highly disappointed with the quantity that was served.we paid Rs. 666 for the 3 starters and the food was not even enough for 4 people.

I have never in my life seen any restaurant serving such low quantity for home delivery orders and for such a high price. The nadan kozhi roast was mostly bones, fried onions and curry leaves. I sincerely request the hotel management to look into the quantity they serve for the price they charge. As of now it's definitely not value for money.

Anoop

Food is really good and the ambience as well but I felt the items are overpriced here if not it will be one of the best family restaurants for South Indian food in Coimbatore.

Visited this hotel in d evening. Not much crowded then. Had Mutton Briyani which was average in taste. Also had pepper chicken and pomfret fish fry. Pepper chicken tasted great and it was moreover like a pichupota chicken fry 👌😋.. Fish fry was well fried and it also tasted good. Starters are too good to have here..

service and ambience of the restaurant is very nice...staff is very courteous but the reason for which you go to a restaurant....THE FOOD is not at all good....we ordered non veg meal which has mostly non veg gravy with rice....so be sure before ordering any dish or meal. non veg meal also include a dish made with mutton blood....ewwww :(

We were in Coimbatore on work awhile back and were taken to this place often by the client. It has a pretty big dining area and was crowded at all times. The interiors are minimalistic with large tables and a comfortable amount of distance between them.I was a pleasantly surprised by the fact that they served food on banana leaves which is not something we see in restaurants, even the South Indian ones, in Kolkata. The staff were efficient even though we had trouble communicating and vice versa. A special mention to the way of taking orders on smartphones.
Coming to the food, we ordered non veg meal on our first day and thoroughly struggled to make a head or tail of what to eat with what.It lead to weird combinations that we ended up consuming, like the way we mixed a sweet yellow dessert with rice thinking it to be dal.It was disastrous.I had a much more satisfying experience with a local thali at another restaurant a few days later.
We had biryani for a couple of days. The biryani here has small pieces of chicken and is high on black pepper.I quite liked it even though we were appalled by the quantity they offer here in Tamil Nadu. It flummoxed us to no end when they offered rice and curd after we finished our biryani . We tried the fried rice with chilli chicken. The chilli chicken they serve here has small pieces of deep fried chicken that has no gravy and tastes like chicken 65. The fried rice was alright but again, the size of the portion was dissapointing. We also had fish fry (I don't remember the exact name),a large slice of fish with no bones that was deep fried. It was very fresh and entirely delicious .The ice beeda which was basically sweet paan with ice inside was a lot of fun.
I really liked Sri Surya, it gave us our first taste of good food in Coimbatore and loved their unpretentiousness in serving food. The thali remains a regret though.

Biryani is damn good. NV meals are decent. Never try Guntur chicken. Pepper chicken is worth the try. Service is good. You can try this place without a worry.

Very bad service. Took 2hrs to deliver for an order which was supposed to be delivered in 30 min. The support desk follows after 1 hr. Don't understand that purpose of promising the delivery time

Good.. On time... Food was sufficient... Tastes better... Easier to order online... Menu card can be typed in a better way than uploading photos...

One of the best places to eat south Indian foodin Coimbatore.Good food, service and ambience,Try their signature dishes chicken lollipop, fish 777,bun parota and very good Briyani.

It’s a good place to go to! Has no parking facilities and the mutton biryani is kinda price for that little quantity and not such a great taste maybe a one timer to go too!

The order was 25 minutes late. Though only 5 minutes from my house. Good quality is ok. Delivery and service. Very poor. Don’t order here

After lots of hype about this hotel tried it out finally tried only chicken briyani here for the price quoted I think it's not worth for the money less quantity chicken piece in the briyani. Above average taste not worth for Rs 240 /-

Used to be good. This time it's a very poor service it's been more than 1:15 mins still not delivered ended up cancelling the order aft a looooonnnnggg wait time. Need to keep up on time delivery or else you should have the courtesy to inform you customer that it'll take more time than usual.

Visited this place a couple of times for lunch. Located in Ramanathapuram, it seems to be crowded all the time. Their thalis(both veg n non veg) are not only quite good but also economical. The biryani though seems kind of average and their ice beeda was a first. Tried a few house special items including mutton chukka and karandi omelette. Overall not a bad place. Drop by!

Rating on the scale of 5
1. Ambience - 3
2. Service -3
3. Taste - 3.5

This is place is well known for the bun parrota tastes good.

Happy dine out!!!

If there's a rating even less than 1.0 , I would choose that. The worst service ever. Food maybe good, but so let down by the service. The worst experience ever.
Vishnu Kumar Das
OK, so just by chance it happened that we stumbled upon this hotel, just because we are craving for Non-veg.The menu was outwardly very plain for a hotel of that stature, so menu was a big disappointment. The meal was also very normal. It is expensive too, for the type of general menu and the quality of food.Nothing exciting apart from the Raitha, which was so wholesome I have ever seen anywhere. Good for family.
cost-400 per person.
food-2
price- 2.5
ambiance-3
Joy
Many people raved about this place so visited on late afternoon. Their highly spoken about bun parota was good. Biriyani was a total disaster - tasted like tomato rice. Never visited this place ever again!
Tanmay Das
The only food that I liked was their chicken briyani. It was good. Never order north Indian food here as I found it to be quite tasteless and the plain, just filled with extra for no reason. The ambience was nice, will try it for South Indian food sometime.
The Great Gatsby
Good food.
It's close enough to the Tirupur Chettiyar Kadai which is famous for the Hot Pepper and Chicken Dynamite.
Nice location near the GEM Hospital junction.
Family dine-able.
Ambience 3/5
Food 3.5/5
Cleanliness 2.5/5
Swati Rajmohan
Decent place. They serve you food on a banana leaf and all.

Quantity vs. Quantity: This one time I ordered chilly fish and got like 4-5 pieces. I cried. Their bun parrottas are to die for but they're so tiny. Y U DO DIS? The butter chicken curry has only 3 pieces which also makes me cry because it's fkn delicious.

Verdict: Take your rich uncle and go. You'll need around 500-600 bucks for a decent meal.
Niraj Shah
One of the decent place to eat in Coimbatore.... Clean good food.... Veg meals has a good spread and a good option for lunch.... Mushroom Dynamite a must try.... All the parathas are fresh n nice.... Comparatively limited options for vegetarians

Finally got the chance to try out this famed restaurant eventhough it is just a mile away from my place. Situated close to the ramanathapuram signal, parking might be a hassle given the busy nature of the surrounding. It is a fairly large restaurant and can seat quite a lot of people. Coming to the food i had, The mutton biriyani was delicious, succulent mutton pieces. Quantity which justifies the heavy price. Chicken 65 too was served in a large bowl though most of it was just fried batter and not chicken. But still decent enough taste. Pepper chicken was like the pichupotta kozhi variety, very well made. Chicken/Mutton dosa are dishes to be tried. Coming to the much acclaimed bun parotta, i should say it tasted good, crispy and well cooked, but the truth is, it is just the same parotta, but in a more scrambled presentation. A good experience on the whole! Do give a try
Ambience - 4/5
Taste - 4/5
VFM - 3.5/5
Shwetha Ramachandran
Their Mutton biryani is mouth watering! Not being a lover of biryani from haribavanam and HMR, this place satisfies my taste buds always! Their starters are mediocre. The bun parotta here is also a must try. The ambience is not great but decent. The pricing is normal.
If you're a biryani lover this place is to be visited.

Itz THE BEST restaurant in trichy road..a long wait for a gud hotel in rn puram area worthful now..every dish is delicious and the hospitality adds up to de flavour..tis has bcum my ALL TYM FAVOURITE place to dine ...
Ramanan Karthikeyan
Worst food nowadays. Being a regular customer who have ordered about 80 times, we need a label to identify the regular dishes that we order...
Kavin
This is my favourite non-veg restaurant after kuppana ...........the must taste dish of this restaurant is mutton briyani ,chicken lollipop, bun parota and mutton chukka. ........
Thiyagu Thiyagarajan
It's my favourite hotel in Trichy road, Coimbatore, good ambience, especially painting and interiors are good. Mutton /chicken dosa and other special items are good, in my view biriyani is average. This hotel's negative point is no car parking place, we should park our vehicle in the road.
Nikhil Giridharan
One of several restaurants that cater to the meat eaters in this city but towering over others with respect to quality of food . The mutton biryani was a delight . Was also impressed by the onion pepper chicken . Ordered mutton brain fry for the first time in my life and regretted it . Almost all the dishes we tried was good . A paradise of sorts to non vegetarians .
Arun Vignesh
Gud one for a non veg lover, but not a perfect one for vegetarian coz they don't have much for a veg, best at their biriyani!! Keeping a tasty chicken dishes makes them gud customers!!
Kavin Chakarvarthy
Basically am a lover of briyani! It wos some holiday i guess, me and my friend wos searching for restaurants ! It wos 3 in d afternoon and we both were damn hungry and finally decided to check in. The ambiance wos so calm and good. We ordered for mutton briyani and it fulfilled my expectations ! One briyani wos more than enough and we couldn't try anything other than that !
Shobana TJ
This place has never disappointed me in taste, quality and quantity. ....they serve very authentic and spicy food which makes you feel completely satisfied for what you pay....must try is bun paratto and nathukozhi roast.....
Sano
Very good ambience and tables are comfortably spaced to have good personal time wid your friends and family. Coming to the service, it's very fast. Bun parota and natukoli gravy and prawns are their special dishes without any flaw. Chicken biryani is good, but quantity is very less compared to other places. Paneer is not up to the mark though. Good Quality but less Quantity. A great place to treat your spice loving tastebuds_!_
Sibi Sadasivam
Hotel surya is been my fav spot in my home town tirupur., nw thy have branch over cbe also.., best spot for spicy nv.., bun parota is my Al time fav.., dnt forgot to try mutton ball and kothu Curry.,
Prithiviraj
The quantity is pathetic. If you order non veg starters you will find 70% batter covered on 30% chicken and made very spicy to make you feel full. Only thing good here is parotta and Biriyani. Avoid Starters !
Vijay Verghis @vj1901
If your palette is ready for a spice ride then you definitely need to visit this place. Staff is extremely friendly and they seem to have an automated system for orders. We started with 2 plates of chicken 65 and it set our mouth on fire and also gave a preview of what is to follow. We followed up with our main course of bun parotta along with a butter chicken masala and a mutton varutha curry. Both the dishes were extremely tasty and definitely got our noses running. Bun parotta was really fluffy and soft unlike the normal parotta we eat. We followed this with a mutton biriyani which is one of their signature dishes. Biriyani was like any traditional chetinad food with adequate spices in it.

Overall great experience and with a decent parking available( in the night not sure about day time) good value for money. They also have a good article from Hindu on them. Ambience is good.
Rama Rao
Went here for lunch here along with work colleagues a few days ago. Ordered the bun parota, having heard a lot about it from friends. It was fluffy and definitely tasty. Having become a fan of butter chicken recently, I decided to try combining it with the butter chicken masala. The combination was reasonably good, but the butter chicken tasted a little bland compared to some of the other hotels I have eaten in. Chicken 777 made up for it, and the pepper chicken was more than decent. Have not sampled the mutton biryani which is supposed to be one of their signature dishes. It is nice to see waiters now making good use of technology, using apps on their phones to store orders. This should avoid any confusion, especially when it comes to taking multiple orders on busy days. Overall, an above average dining experience.
Thamil Palaniswamy
I had a lunch in this hotel. It was good experience. Other than the food, Hospitality was good. Ambience was superb. Cost is comparatively higher than the certain hotels in coimbatore which gives better quality and quantity foods at same rate. Variety lovers may get disappointment. If anyone loves spicy foods try GUNTUR CHICKEN. U wont fail for sure.
Lalitha Gautam
Bun parotta the signature dish & nattu kozhi kulambu is at its best at this place. A perfect south indian chettinadu style non veg restaurant to count on
Foodieraghu
Parota has a special place in every persons heart when it comes to Chettinad food. There is no alternate for that. This place has a special to offer us in the name of Bun Parota which is Soft and fluffy which can be best had with Naatu Kozhi Kolambu(Country chicken gravy). This would be my first order when ever I go. They are very famous in Tirpur and has opened operations this year. They have a very good menu. My fav being Mutton Thokku which is kind of a perfect dish for Mutton lovers, Chicken 777 which is so spicy, Kozhi Varutha curry for pepper fry lovers, naatu kozhi varuval. They have a very good Mutton Biryani. Heard many of my friends saying they are too spicy, but my suggestions would be, what is there without spiciness in non veg food.
