1.About Place- Located at the heart of the city , in Astelly Hall, near Mc Donalds. Salt and cravings is undoubtedly one of the best (yet underrarted) fine dines of Dehradun. A small food place to cater your 'all- mood' food needs. From fresh bakes to brews, from customized starters and main course to freshly made dessert, this place has it all. Their 'open kitchen' concept is sure to serve you the best and unique culinary experience. Well open kitchen not only ensure the transparency but at times also provides you the opportunity to alter or customize your order(even last minutes- because you can see at what stage your order is at, ). Appears to be an expensive experience(per se ) in terms of charges, but personally nothing more than what any descent food place ought to charge. This place is among few (and the best) places in Doon ,be it family get togethers, a date, or even a formal meeting. 2.About Food- Amazing food experience. Ordered and tried a few things from their wide list of items from their menu. If i say they have amazingly exotic menu, i won't be hyping at all. Tried- The spanish white garlic and tortilla soup (5/5) .Even the simplest of the soups like lemon coriander noodle soup was amazing.(4/5) My another absolute favourite was 'Grilled Fish Garlicky with lemon butter sauce'. It was heavnly, theFish was well cooked but the sauce took the cake.. it was insanely amazing.(5/5) other specialities- mezze platter, pasta, cheese cakes and other fresh bakes. If you visit this place- don't forget to include these in your list.

Could've given 5 stars but, it's just the service of the staff which demands a good attention. The food was really nice. I had Cilantro lemon grilled chicken and Italian smooch (the drinki mean! 😋). Both fabulous.

My recent visit to Astley hall Dehradun led me to visit Salt and Peper a restaurant at President hotel Dehradun. 1) Location : The restaurant is pretty conveniently located and the door opens right on the street so you don't have to go inside the hotel to visit it. 2) Menu : The menu is very nice and functional with lots of choices . 3) Food: The Quality of food is exceptionally amazing and tastes really good. 4) Service: The service is really good at the Restaurant and they really take care of your needs. 5) Overall : The Experience was really good and after a long tiring day of travel it was really nice to have dinner at this place

One of the finest cafes in Dehradun. Have visited this place several times. It's nearly a weekly affair for me and my friends. This week we tried the mezz platter, srilankan curry with peanut rice and keema paratha. All were well prepared. The service is always good. Other dishes which one must try are the gush and chips, chicken in a creamy lemon sauce, garlic bread, French onion soup , tikka shikka sandwich, kolkota rolls.

The food tasted really good. Visited for the first time today and was amazed by the quality of food. Affordable too. Service was great and the waiter were real polite and helpful. A must go for people who like non veg.

Salt & Cravings is a cute little place located in Astley hall, Dehradun. It is a good choice for desserts.

High quality comfort Food. Recommend the Philly Cheese Steak and Grilled fish in lemon butter sauce

Salt. & Cravings is the only diner in town which serves authentic continental food and is an all time favourite of continental food lovers. The decor is pleasing and the entire wall displaying caricatures of Hollywood & Bollywood stars are a treat for movie buffs. The quality and taste of most of their stuff is excellent and amazingly consistent. The grilled fish, Sri Lankan curry, scarmoza loaf & Spanish tortilla soup should be definitely be tried. The tarts, cakes and brownies at their bakery always break my resolve to stay away from desserts.

Nice little cafe in Ashtley Hall area with amazing continental food

Smaller servings, but the flavour is superb.

Excellent ambience. Courteous staff. Open kitchen. Good food. Big portions- so value for money... The only draw back is that, now after Soo many yrs.. they need to revamp their menu a bit. And also they need to mark their menu card for veg- non veg so that it's easier for customers to find their preference.

This is situated on the rajapur road. You can find are many restaurants in this area but this is one of best and underrated restaurant may be because it's appear more like a fast food and ice cream shop from the outside but they have very good restaurant which serve both confectionery and Indian food items. The ambiance is good and you can enjoy a quality time with your family and friends. They have well trained staff and the service time is also very quick. A bar is also here if you are interested in it. They serve very tasty food and the serving quantity is also good. They serve both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. I think this is one of the best restaurant in the dehradun and you must give a visit to this place. The price is of mid-range.

My family & I visited Salt & Cravings today afternoon after reading online reviews. It turned out to be surprisingly good experience for my family . The food was well made and delicious. We had ordered chicken Minestrone soup, Chicken Arabiata Penne Pasta, Veg Mezze platter, Sri Lankan curry, Cilantro Lemon Grilled Chicken along with dark chocolate pastry and tiramisu . I have to say there's a diverse variety of international cuisine here . I loved the open kitchen concept wherein you can see fresh preparation made by the chef. The food was delicious. All the COVID protocols were being followed by the restaurant. The staff was courteous and prompt. Overall a great experience, a must visit place if you are longing for good international cuisine.

One of the best new york cheesecake ever !!! Mark my words peeps i have had cheesecake all over Gurgaon & Delhi this place beats them all. The cheese is just perfect creamy & buttery at the same time with a tang to it. The gooye crust make is even better . I completely drool over the nyc style cheesecake along with the blueberry cheesecake.
Also their lemmon & chocolate tarts are a treat not to be missed . The crust of the tarts is just gooye enough for the flavoured creme. One of the best classy desert place doon has over the much hyped onces .

It is indeed one of the best places in town to satisfy your sweet tooth. Totally loved the cheese cake and banoffee pie. Amazing ambience, quick service!

A nice place for formal dinner or date ... The place is really good for fine dine , the staff is friendly , the ambiance is good... Tried falafel hummus and cheesy Mexican burrito the food was good ...But this serves the best Tiramisu in town .... It cost around 800-1000 for two ....

After 3 visits to this place I realized that the Italian food at this place is just Wowwww!!!! The ambience is superb. Specifically if you are fond of the Lebanese platter please do try theirs. I have had Hummus at a lot of places but theirs is very smooth and yummilicious. The only reason I missed on one star is that the waiters could be a little more trained and adjusted to the menu and of course a smile on the servers face always adds a grace to the food.
All in all it's a must visit!!!!!

Salt and Cravings, a part of the renowned Hotel President, is located in Astley Hall,Rajpur Road.Great ambience,Great food, welcoming staff and prompt service. What else do we need.We had ordered 3 Cafe Latte, Poutine, Cheesy Pesto Pasta and 2 Mud Pies.Every item we tasted was good and fresh.Spent nearly 1400 bucks there.Absolutely recommended.

This is indeed an all time favorite! My visit to Doon is incomplete without a visit to Salt and Cravings. Have to eat here, atleast once on the trip. This visit was on Saturday, November 3, 2018. We were there for lunch.

Location. 4/5
Main Rajpur road. Parking can be an issue here.

Ambience 4/5
Lovely cafe. Well done interiors and neat and tidy. Nice sitting arrangement. Well maintained washrooms.

Service. 5/5
The staff was very cordial and courteous. Helpful in every way.

Food. 5/5
Considering it’s a restaurant in a small city, they have excellent food. The pastas here can be compared with any good restaurants in Delhi.
We ordered Napolitana, Arrabiata. Both were Fantastic!
The ice tea and mojito were equally good.
The slice of chocolate truffle was great too.

Must visit!

Expensive but totally worth it.. Tried prawns which were neatly done. great variety in their menu. Live kitchen creates a good ambience.....

Hands down this is best place to have a dessert in the clock tower vicinity. Located at Astley hall, parking at salt and cravings may be like your worst nightmare come true, but once you cross the hurdle, you are surely in for a treat. I have visited this place on numerous ocassions for my dessert cravings and it has never let me down. They are known for their burritos that i am yet to try, but the desserts here are droolworthy. The portions are big and do not pinch your pocket much.

Of the many bakeries I have visited in Dehradun, this place serves the best desserts. They serve wonderful brownie and red velvet cake.
Prices are decent and service is good.
It has a very good interior as well.

very good ambiance, very tasty food. multicusin variety. spanish veg soup was good, had such taste first time. at end of soup herbs wore tasting little strong, but otherwise very good taste. blusing bride moktail was perfect blend of berry crush n fruit juice, after sip in light punch of ginger. shrilankan veg curry was outstanding. price wise moderate, worth it.
Kanchan Mittal
Food is just perfect, ambiance is great, service is wonderful. Worth the time n money. perfect place in doon to hang out. pasta was love. brownie n apple pie was more than awsm.
Realitycritics
The choice of menu is tasteful, ambience blends in with the food , though the staff is not aware of the ingredients in the recipes ,so that is on thing they need to work upon.

The place is not easy to locate. Don't follow the maps at all. They're misleading. The café is on the ground floor of Prez Hotel.
The coffee was pathetic.
The prices are soaring.

After a long walk on Rajpur Road and tiresome shopping spree, we ended up at Salt & Cravings with no expectations but just some words of review from here n there. And moving to a new city gives us a tickling urge to explore everything n everywhere. The moment I stepped in, the desserts on the display partly did the job of removing my weariness. The food menu was pretty nice. We decided to go for mixed sauce pasta and kathi roll (vegetarian). Pasta was delicious, simple and flavourful. Kathi roll tasted really nice but could have been less oilier. But the treat was their desserts; don't miss them. Lemon cheese cake and chocolate truffle cake were fresh, delicious and gave a perfect finishing touch to our meal. The ambience was nice and I anyway have an extra soft corner for open kitchen in restaurants. Highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for good food, quick service and sophisticated place to fill their stomachs.

Loved the red sauce pasta and the bloody Mary combination. The garlic bread is made to perfection and the chop Suey is amazing ! Do visit for a good time, to enjoy the serene and peaceful ambience.

Expensive place.. the shakes are nice. Blue berry cheesecake is recommended. Ordered chicken satay which was mediocre or "kaamChalau" as i have tried better one in other places.. the waiters had a staring problem as they were constantly staring as i was with my significant other.. I don't know what was up with them. Definitely going to put a hole in your pocket.

Good decor & clean yet cramped at the table. Good service. An excellent place to have a variety of food. Tried their Mid eastern , continental and thai. The portions are good enough. The taste is truly unique with fresh ingredients. They have mastered the art of pleasing the Indian taste buds without losing the body of the international dish. Why? I spent 15 yrs abroad n have eaten almost everything but my spouse is a totally Indian born veg who loves his ginger- garlic -garam masala n will 'experiment' with pizza from dominos and Hakka noodles as a variety🙄 . Eats occassionally non veg with reluctance-but here he actually loved the taste and the chicken and ate more than me!! And said the magic words- This continental / exotic food of yours? Am liking it- it's worth the money!! Oh thank God I thought finally the taste buds are opening!!😁 Go for it- a little expensive but worth it👌👍👍

A good alternative brought about by the ownership of President hotel. Good international food options. Stuffed chicken with prunes and mushrooms is a must try. Thai red curry is delectable and the portions are really good. Service is great. Open kitchen concept is great for dehradun. Reasonable pricing too.

Positives - Great team of chefs who listen to how you want your food and deliver it like that. Result - you always get what you want and how you like it. Good & attentive service.
Negatives - Seating is mostly an issue as it is crowded. If you choose to go to their lower level (better seating there) then service becomes an issue.
Ambience - okay, Price - slightly higher than competition, Food quality - the reason I go there everytime. :)
Rahul Babbar
The food is okay..but the service is pathetic. Attitude of staff is not at all customer friendly. Also..despite of court rulings that water should not be sold beyond MRP, they charged 68 bucks for a water bottle..
Anjali Nagpal
You can pick any random pastas they have and you would love it without any doubt, also their desserts are lip smacking and the caesar salad probably is the best in town
Capt Nischint Kapoor
Well I don't know for what I visited this place. The food was just below average other than the pasta which was very good. Service is poor. Staff needs reminders for changing plates and filling water in your glass. Ambiance is good no doubt. Overall a place not much recommended.

It's a cozy well lit cafe in a commercial area in dehradun and part of the hotel President. The decor is charming and the hospitality warm. We were there just to have a quick bite between bus journeys and we were left longing for more time to spend there. The chocolate peanut butter shake was tasty yet light. The blueberry cheesecake was lip smacking. They had an impressive menu and clean restrooms. Nice joint for a quick bite or a a casual meet-up with friends.

Salt & Cravings is one of those place where you will find peace and good food. It is one of the renowned places here in the valley. The other best thing is you can have wine and Dine. We had some Italian Cuisine and Desserts were the main attraction.

PICK OF THE FOOD - CHEESEY PESTO, GRILLED CHICKEN, RED VELVET CAKE AND NEW YORK CHEESE CAKE.

What we tasted:
- Cheesey Pesto
- Coriander Grilled Chicken
- Coriander Grilled Fish
- Honey Chilli Chicken
- Red Velvet Cake
- New York Cheese Cake
- Chocolate Brownie with hot chocolate sauce

The place is nice and cozy with limited seating but with a open kitchen and overhead chalkboard menu which is fascinating. The service is quick and the servers are extremely polite. The ambience is great with a section of bakery in the front and mini library.

Had Cheesy Pesto Veg Pasta (Penne) which was great with lots of cheese and a subtle but sure hint of coriander. The Philly chicken cheese steak was delicious with generous servings of fries with it. Also ordered the Cheddar Cheese Loaf which were bit soggy and average in taste.

In the desserts, tried the apple pie which had huge amounts of cinnamon in it which was kind of a turnoff. Also the Mud Pie was served cold without any molten chocolate over it which left us bit confused as mud pie is generally served warm. But the Lemon Cheesecake was delicious with sweet and tangy tasty.

Great taste! Chefs are ready to serve you your favorite cuisines considering your personal taste.

Rate/Price: 3/5
Food Quality : 4.5/5 (You will be highly frustrated if you are expecting Lucknow taste)
Food Quantity: 4/5 (One plate is not enough for 1 person)
Overall Hygiene: 4.5/5
Hospitality: 4.5/5
Overall ambience: 4

Ratings from previous years:
2013: NA
2014: 4.5
2015: 4
2016: 4

Finally we reached here.... the stafff told
to us that all floors of this building have different different foods according to different different countries...so we lastly confirmed and seated in this cafe...and our experience is too much good...love this place...

This cafe is one of those few places which left me pleasantly amused. The veg pasta I ordered here was exactly as per my specifications in terms of ingredients and flavours. Really impressed by the Chef. Classic décor with books and magazines and seating space is meant only for a handful of people. Service aspect is ok but the showstealer are the desserts. I had blue berry cheese cake and it was one of the finest I have had. Would definitely go back for more desserts!

Me and my three friends ordered one ceasar's salad, one pesto pasta, one cheesy garlic bread, one poutine, one plate of shredded honey chilly potato, one Arabiata, one plain fries and one plain garlic bread along with 3 bottles of Budweisers and 1 bottle of Kingfisher. EVERYTHING TASTED REALLY GOOD AND FRESH. Only, ceasar's salad was filled with chees a lot and pesto pasta was a little bland. The service was really quick and very professional. They also asked us if we need 4 separate bills and wish to pay individually for what we have ordered. Total bill was 3300 Rs which was really affordable as compared to the service and amount of food we had. My other two friends actually got the two separate fries packed and had them in breakfast. Awesome place! Go go go!

It's a great place especially when you are into continental cuisine. A light crispy chicken burger, with just the right amount of cheese and no cabbage is rare to ask for these days. Do try the lemon grilled chicken, it has a different flavour, as compared to the usual grilled chicken stuff we had. The ambience is great, a usual cafe feel with a bakery corner. didn't try much on deserts, but surely visiting again!

Nice ambience , when i just entered into it . A saturday night blessed with a breath taking continental food with delicious bakery items . I took red velvet cake and it was awesome to be here ✌🏽
Whenever I'm in my hometown this is our hangout place for the weekends. They have a small bakery with sumptuous desserts and oven fresh breads that taste divine. My love for their red velvet and tiramisu is undying absolutely. Over the years, me and my family have probably tried each and everything on their menu. From parathas to pastas, soups to rolls, wraps to platters, they've mastered it all.

We went to the restaurant on our way to Auli and boy we were happy!

The food was good, I ordered a lemon grilled fish and my husband ordered a burrito - both dishes were really good.

Good start to our travel. Yippie

When I joined school (which was a boarding school), my friends recommended this place for outings. So, on one outing I went to this place. Although I wasn't hungry, I tried their honey chilli potatoes. It was really very good. The ambience is awesome. Sometimes it might get crowded though.

Located in the famous Astley Hall, this is a comparatively newer restaurant that opened in place of Nirulas.
It has a beautiful ambience and is one of the few places in Dehradun with the Open Live Kitchen concept.
I ordered the Broccoli Soup and it was delicious. Definitely a must try.
As for the main course, we ordered Pasta and the Non Veg Sizzler and it was quite good.
However the highlight of this place is their Desserts. The Blueberry Cheesecake, Red Velvet Cake and Banoffee Pie are to die for. You just can't get enough of them.
Most importantly, this place is extremely generous with their serving size.
The only drawback for me was their service. They can get quite slow during peak hours.
All in all it was a good experience. :-)
A balm to my sweet tooth.
I had red velvet cake and chocolate truffel from here.
And holy moses, red velvet was heavenly, the best in the town. Enough to drive anyone crazy 😵
Chocolate truffel was also good but red velvet stole all the thunder. Totally foodgasmic.
And also their banoffee pie is awesome. Just loved the freshness of the pie, that crumble of crust. Droolicious!
Also the ambience is great, it's cozy and comfy. Ideal semi fancy Date spot 👍

I would love to try everything on their menu. They saved my day today.
The Dehradun Foodie
I really liked the honey chilli potato, but the soup was tasteless and could have been better. Chilly paneer wasn't spicy and more of sweetness! The ambiance and interiors are amazing to give a comfort feel. Good service as well
Aditi Mathur Kumar
Had brunch here today, and loved the interiors. Had already tasted their cakes and stick-jaws and they were amazing, so decided to eat here today. The open kitchen and the black-board-paint above the kitchen platform gives it an interesting look. The food was okay. Did not like their hot chocolate but the cappuccino was good. The poutin was disappointing and I wish they were more generous with the cheese, and make it cheese loaded as poutins normally are. So this was a downer. The pasta was yummy. We also ordered the sandwiches called chicken tikka shikka and it was almost minced chicken with vegetables, nothing chicken tikka about it. So the name was misleading. The soups are delicious here! The notable thing is their big serving size. Very hearty. The biggest negative for me was the service. The guy attending to our table was clearly preoccupied and paid little attention to us. There was a party happening downstairs so maybe they were busy with that, but it's not excuse for lousy service. Only the pasta and their desserts have made me give it a 3 star, otherwise it was a 2 from me. Won't go back for food, but for red velvet cake, I will! :)
Dr. Sahai
The set up is appealing with the front part catering to the ice creams. Love the hot chocolate fudge, worth it. Don't have any smoothies, purely because they can't make one and it tastes horrible. That said, liked the quaint library kind of a feel they have got in.
It also caters as the entry point for The Prez Restaurant above.
The other part has a great 'food off the kitchen' feel about it with a very continental cuisine to offer. However, was not very impressed. Fails to deliver Inspite of a smart sit in.
Rohan Vachani
The only thing that's good about this place is that they still serve the ever famous Hot Chocolate Fudge which was originally a Nirulas product.
Samrat Dahotre
By far THE BEST continental place in Dehradun.
The Cilantro Lemon Chicken is absolutely amazing and so is the Mezze Platter which consists some lovely hummus and pita.
The bottomline is, whatever is on the menu, is fantastic! You can blindly try out whatever catches your fancy on the menu and you'd be delightfully surprised.
Love this place, we have become regulars here.
Highly recommended 👍🏼👍🏼

The place has the ambience which is truly jaw dropping. I've been here couple of tym wid mah frnz.. n each tym this place makes uh come closer to it. The staff if very friendly, environment is awsum....
Food is fantabulous👌👌👌👌
N one more thing, this place even hav "Londonderry" ice cream parlour, it is just yumm to hav its ice-cream after food....
Great place😊😊😊

Awesome food, i live in gurgaon, came here quite often as was in dehradun for my son's admission in Doon school.

Food is quite fresh and staff is quite friendly.

Will recommend their mezzeh platter and spaghetti.

Tried the london dairy ! Chain of desserts and ice creams !! It doesn't really have any of the varieties found at other places . 😒 I didn't really liked it here although the same place has a no. Of varieties at other places like delhi ,banglore etc
Sapna Shahani
I like the design here with the menu on a chalkboard and an open kitchen. Also kudos r having an innovative menu and specials. Although the cheesecake icecream shake could've been better. I liked the poutine we ordered with chicken, but the menu incorrectly credits the recipe as American when it's actually Canadian. Nonetheless, good place for us to park ourselves while we waited for the train.

I went to this place with family, it was my mom's birthday. We ordered a smoked non-veg sizzler, veg pasta in white sauce and beer. The pasta was average, sizzler tasted good and the food always gets better when you have a beer accompanying it. The ambience was soothing, ghazals were being played live on request. The rates are nominal and the Staff was courteous.

I am writing this review as i eat. So its cant get any more real time than this!!!. Relatively new joint. Casual. Modern. Dont be mislead by the name-it isnt out to spike your blood pressure levels with generous dozes of salt. On the contrary i found the food quite healthy and fresh made from a live counter right in front of your eyes and nose. Recommends-cream of brocoli soup, baked onion soup, grilled fish in lemon butter sauce, chicken poutine and risotto(in fact these dishes were ordered by us and we really liked all of them). They also have a good wine menu and great choice of shakes desserts and mocktails. Highly recommneded.
Sunny Arora
Salt and Cravings, all I can say about this place is average I ordered a Platter along with a screw driver drink, some of the vegetables were not properly cooked which was disappointing. I skipped the main course and ordered the desert which I can say I loved it Caramel Custard was Yumm!
Vaibhav Gupta
All the deserts that they keep in the window fridge are stale , today again i went there to get a cheese cake and on asking twice weather its fresh or not they packed it for me , and later when i opened it at home it was smelling like shit and was stale , this has happened with me twice till now .
Advise to everyone , do not try the deserts there. They will actually spoil your taste .

Good food, prompt service, attentive staff. Will go back to this place. Hygiene in the open kitchen and grooming of serving staff was good. Worth a visit when in Dehradun
