Review South Indian Vibes - Dehradun

Magan Mehrotra
Great place for South Indian food. Have been eating here for several years and thee food quality has been good always. They used to serve rasam as starter but have stopped now. The decor is simple but clean and the service is good.

First time, I tried food from this place in 2022 and I have been a fan since. Food is amazing. Ambience is top notch. It’s so relaxing and calm. And the services provided by the staff is superb, as well. They won’t let you feel unattended. This place is worth every penny! 🙂☺️

The taste is really authentic. The place really has South Indian vibes. On asking, they had even provided me sambar and chutneys without onion and garlic. The chutney had such nice and fresh flavor of coconut. Their manager, Mr. Rawat greeted and talked with me while leaving. He also suggested to try another outlet of theirs, The Black Pepper. All in all it is a must try place.

Ordered from here multiple times and thought that it's a cloud kitchen. On some digging found out that this restaurant is at the main Astley Hall, right next to McDonald's. Quick and responsive service makes this place amazing. The best dosa I've had in Doon. The sambhar and the coconut chutney is to die for. I honestly can't think of anything negative for this restaurant. Highly Recommended!

Recently visited this place. They serve crispy dosas n the menu is not too large but food is flavourful. Loved the dahi wada, mysore masala dosa n idli was fresh n soft.
MANISH BHARTHI
Delicious South Indian cuisine, variety of authentic dosa, Great ambiance, Friendly staff, great service.. This is iconic place with many celebrities have been visited in past to try their scrumptious dishes and dosas. Ghee masala roast is my personal favourite!

Excellent South Indian food, good variety; North Indian food can also be ordered from the adjacent restaurant Black Pepper. Filter coffee is a must try. Definitely strong South Indian vibes!!

I highly recommend this South Indian restaurant. The ambiance and taste of food was awesome. Vada was just amazing and Rawa kesari halwa was also best as it got some pineapple flavour here. Mr Rajendra Rawat and Govind were to generous and humble while placing the orders. One thing I suggest that they should put original banana leaf on the table then it will become more authentic South Indian food.

Authentic South Indian food served here I liked all of them we ordered like medu vada was tasty n crispy , rava dosa , especially the two type chatni was a good. The place literally has good vibes I am from Pune and was there for trek to Deoriatal Chandrashila . We wanted a change after eating stuff like parathas etc and this place fulfilled our needs. The staff is courteous, a nice ambience and a quite hygienic hotel was that I observed I can suggest this place for a perfect South Indian breakfast or meal

Had got some good feedback regarding the South Indian food served by South Indian Vibes.. ordered idlis / Dosa ... the coconut chutney and shambar served as accompaniments were just below average in taste and quality .. the chef really needs to work on his skills on authentic South Indian cuisine taste .. Am sorry to say .. but the quality of food is not at all worth the value .. my only advice would be please work on the taste of the food you serving .. thanks ..

Best south Indian restaurant in dehradun! Must visit for all dosa lovers. Dosas and especially the chutneys is my favorite. Great taste and a wholesome food experience. Rasam and papad starters will make you crave for more.
Nikhil Agarwal
I very rarely write reviews but can't help post down how amazing the hospitality of the complete staff here had been. Start from the complimentary Rasam & Papad, to authenticate South-Indian Taste coupled with well built architecture - with staff taking keen concern on Additionals of chutney & sambar if needed -- this place has to be the most loved place in Dehradun. A must have.
Imran Khan
Upma is really very tasty. I have never tasted this kind of upma... Keep it up

A must place to visit, if you want to have authentic South Indian Food. They welcome you with traditional papad & rasam. Their filter coffee, reminds me of my days in South India. Dosa's were up-to mark and so was the ambience. Cherry on the cake for me was the, slow & mellow soothing South Indian music in the background.

The people are very warm as well. They greet and meet you, personally and make the whole experience worthwhile!
Varsha
The place serves excellent South Indian food. The hosts as well were warm and welcoming.

South Indian vibes restaurant in karanpur Dehradun this is the best place to get South Indian food we want there before they have good ambiance good food I really enjoy food thanks....
Aarush Gupta
They serve the authentic South Indian food in the town . They give complementary Rasam and Papad. They have a huge varieties of Dosas which among them I love the Paper Masala Dosa and Mysore Masal Dosa which has the Mysore dal chutney inside it . Their vadas are extremely soft and delicious . Then the mix vegetable Uttapam was good too.
Advaita Ravindran
Surprisingly authentic south Indian cuisine which managed to impress a cynic! Which is a lot to say since I personally avoid South Indian food anywhere in North India, after multiple disappointing experiences. But this place, I'd definitely recommend for a taste of original South Indian food.
Salujanehaa9
Tasty food and good ambience...customer service excellent ..especially Mr Abhishek...great way to greet and a his warm gestures made the whole experience worthwhile ...should hire more staff like him
Sreedhar Reddy
Very good service and very taste. Being a south Indian from andhra Pradesh taste we are making and the taste comparing to this restaurant are not same. Any how good service like it. Thanks.

Really nice ambience.....full of peace and lavishing Smell of sambhar, dosa !!
A must place to visit in Dehradun.
Tasty food and warm memories!

South Indian Vibes has got south India in the name. This is where the similarity with south Indian food ends. Trust me this is just another run of the mill restaurant trying to cash on South Indian name. South Indian cuisine is my favourite and it is among the most satisfying ones.We ordered rawa masala dosa, South Indian thali, mix veg uttapam and paper dosa. They served rasam as welcome drink, which was really a bad rasam. Dosa was very ordinary, thali was one of the worst I've eaten. Sambhar served alongside dosas is tasteless. Service is sloow and the prices are gigh. Not recommended.
Avijit Faujdar
If you are a true fan of "South Indian" cuisine, you've found a perfect restaurant to satiate your hunger. I particularly liked their Onion-Tomato Uttapam.
Linya Jain
Great place for south Indian food. Courteous staff. Food is delicious and authentic. Quantity is good according to the price. Will definitely recommend this place to every south indian lover I encounter.

We have visited this place many a times. They serve in a very gentle manner. They start their service with rasam and papad, followed by the dishes ordered by you. We ordered tea, uttapam and an amazing family dosa. This place never dissatisfies you. Totally smitten by the taste, quality and service of this place.
Pathfinder Singh
Best South Indian in Dehradun. Very pleasant Staff as well. Friendly Owner. Strongly Recommended. Good dosas, great Uttapam, wonderful filter coffee
Poonam Sood
I have been here couple of times . say 3-4 times . Have tried their masala dosa - the crust is tooo damn thin ... the masala filling is much .... i would say its not examplary or something better ..... its just ok .... the thin crust is damn annoying to me !! The dahi vada is also ok !! Rest sambar bowls are a joke 🤣 even with idli you get to small katori

Its the most expensive dosa in city . Not worth it . south indian vibes is a no no until you are without a choice

I like anandam chakrata road dosa the best 🤗
Shivika Jaiswal
The place was great ... the ambiance is so pure with carnatic music in background ... superfast service and friendly staff! A must visit place in doon for south indian cuisine lovers
Saurabh Dimri
Food taste/quality vs price needs a thorough review. One should not only price the food on location and ambience. To be precise: the south Indian thali is not good enough by taste and variety of items. Also, don't order upma, it's super tasteless.

However, the staff is courteous and humble. They offered to replace my food with other things, but it was too late for my taste buds to try anything else for the day.
Anjali Malik
I ordered double Idli in my order but it was not delivered highly disappointing 💔 will not recommend they don’t provide whole orders I have given money for all 4 things but one thing was missing....do take some acti on 😡😡 fooling customers or refund my money .... http://zoma.to/t/NkDmGOO this is the link of my order.... Kindly take some action.

Very good authentic South Indian food. Jain food is also available here, Must visit place. It reminds me food of sankalp & dakshinayan from south mumbai. Very tasty food & service is also very quick.

Food-4/5
Ambience-5/5
Service-5/5
Price- High
Overall experience- nice
The place has a variety of options for South India food lovers, you will find different types of dosa, idli and vada. Each of them has it's own taste and the staff over their is very helping and supportive. The taste of food is different in delivery from that in dine in. The food is served with love for sure as the place is very luxurious.

The food served is 😋 and authentic south indian. Love the rasam and papad they serve in the beginning. The preparation of dosas is very good.

Best South Indian food I have experienced in Dehradun so far, they gave us rasam as welcome drink which was such a beautiful experience in chilled weather dhosas and chutneys were also mouthwatering 😊

Priyanka Garg
Very uncooperative and rude Manager..highly disappointed by his behaviour....the management should definitely inculcate some basic etiquettes in him..
Ankur Bahuguna
Good South Indian restaurant surprised that when we ordered a poori bhaji (as my son doesn't likes dosa n all) the bhaji was not actually a bhaji (Aloo ki sabzi) curry rather they served the same stuffing of potato which we we're having inside DOSA.
Otherwise it's ok.
If u r fed up of visiting regular multicuisine restaurant can visit this place for change.

But but but don't order poori bhaji go for South Indian food only.
It's good
Preeti Garg
I always love to be there . Awesome food great ambience . Everything is good about this place.
Lots of variety in dosa and uttapam . Staff is also good.. love it..
Anshu Chawla (an. Eezmom)
Good South Indian food at reasonable prices, next to Mcds so you can skip eating everything junk by walking 5 steps. Ambience is also cool and they can arrange for kitty parties as well and yes lift available for the tired ones.
Vidushi Nagalia
Rasam 😋 , dosa😋 amazing
Place is a Must visit if you are a south indian cuisine lover. Value for money. A good hygienic family place. Plus the variety is cherry on top

We were craving for South Indian when we located this restraunt on Zomato. Me along with my family went in a hope of authentic south Indian food.
Ambience is good and staff is courteous and it was almost full on Saturday evening.
We were welcomed by hot and very tasty Rasam. We ordered Idli (along with Rasam and Sambhar), tomato onion uttapam and one onion masala dosa.
All dishes were well prepared. Coconut chutney was tasty but ginger chutney was ok. Uttappam and dosa were also good: fresh and yummy.
We were little bit disappointed by sambhar. Being authentic south Indian restaurant we were expecting more from sambhar. Improvement in sambhar can be done.
Overall it was good experience.

I have visited South Indian Vibes on multiple occasions. It is a dedicated cuisine vegetarian restaurant by Black Pepper Restaurant (serves both veg and non-veg). Half of my family (me included) love South Indian Cuisine and the food offered by this place suits our palate the most. If a part of your company loves north-indian cuisine, it can be served from Black Pepper Restaurant at your table and you can enjoy both the cuisine while sitting together.

Staff is friendly and would provide a hand sanitiser upon seating. You are then greeted with a complimentary glass of rasam and papad. I love their rawa dosa, uttapam, vada, filter coffee. Rawa dosa is served with a veg korma which I loved so much that I looked up the recipe online and make it frequently at home! Lol

Their hospitality is amazing! The biggest proof was when we visited this place to celebrate a birthday but forgot the wallet at home. We were hungry and were dreading the long drive back home to get the wallet so hubby went to check the options with the manager. When the owner got to know about this, he talked in a very courteous manner and discussed upon an arrangement to pay the next day. Waiters then dressed up in a costume and sang a birthday song. We were treated with sweet dish which was on-the-house. Though we could arrange the payment through a friend while we were having dinner- the courteous talks, birthday celebration by the staff and on-the-house sweet dish had won us over!

I know that such celebrations are very common at many places these days but it was special here because the management knew that we had no money on us at that time. It was an embarrassing moment for us but the great hospitality and courteous management at South Indian Vibes shall never be forgotten.
Rashi Agarwal
Dosa like no where else . So many options to chose from . With crispy and mast dosa . Offers so many other varieties together . With rasam and sweet dahi being their speciality in welcome offer

If you are looking for dinner place for your family this is just perfect place for you. The best part is South Indian Vibes also serves you from black pepper menu which its sister branch which is right next to it. So South Indian vibes food especially sambhar is just amazing. Do try lemon rice and idli (soft and tasty). You can also try Dahi vada but if you are not a fan of sweet curd you wont like it just like me.
Megha Aggarwal
Dosa was not at all good .... waste of money ... please improve your quality of food.. dosa doesnt worth a single penny ... not at all satisfied.
Ayush Aggarwal
Food was okk but the do check your bill because complimentary MOUSE was also charged on bill .
......................................... so please check ur bill once leaving .

If you are in Doon and you crave a dosa , just head to this place, no questions asked. Their preparation is as good as south Indian food gets in Doon. Though if this restaurant would have been in Delhi I would have rated 4 because of the limited menu.
The good parts first- prices are quite affordable, the staff is friendly and they welcome you with a cup of rasam and papad as soon as you occupy one of the tables. Also the food tastes great.
Cons- Menu is limited. Though for most of us south Indian food means idli, dosa and uttapam. So this is bearable.
Sanjeet Yadav
Tamrind rice is not that good.
Vvac
Packing was horrible, although we are located just 5 minutes away from the restaurant and the Zomato delivery boy had a hot bag but still food was cold, urgent need to improve the packing and reduce the delivery time.
Saket Bajpai
Very pathetic service. The waiters argue with u over chutneys!!,
Visited with family and friends but went out just after placing the order looking at the pathetic service
Sanjeet Yadav
Lemon Rice was very good, oil free and aithentic. Quantity is also good enough for 2 person. I wish I could say the same for Poori Bhaji also but unfortunately that wasn't so good. Very oily.
Sanjeet Yadav
Curd rice was nice, but Dahi Idli was bit too sweet.
Rishabh Pandey
Pros-
Clean dining.
Quick service.

Cons-
1. Lacks consistency with their food.
2. Waiters need some quality training in professional serving aspects.
Akanshaa Agarwal
Southindian Vibes is just next to McD at Astley Hall,Rajpur Road. Was out for a family dinner. The ambience is decent. They serve authentic Southindian food and the service is prompt too. This place welcomes you with rasam and papad. We ordered Rava Paneer Dosa, Masala Dosa, Onion Rava Masala, Dahi Vada and Rava Masala Dosa. I liked Onion Rava Masala Dosa the most. I didn't liked the coconut chutney much. But overall it was a good experience. Spent nearly 850 bucks. Recommend for family dining.

After a much desperate searches for good South Indian food in Doon, this place was a valuable find, worth all the traffic and chaos to reach this place. I knew this was it the moment I sipped Rasam, which is given with Appalam, as a complimentary welcome food. Right from Rava idlli, mysore masala, onion uttapam, coconut rice, and filter coffee, every bite gave me the feeling of home. Peaceful ambiance and prominent location is an add on to the tasty food. The price is a little expensive, but worth the quality of service. Take it from a Chennaite, this place is a must visit if you yearn for good South Indian food in Doon.
Himanshu Bahuguna
I think, with the type of quality of food they are providing it is an overrated restaurant. Yes, it works in their favour that Doon has very few authentic South Indian restaurants. The ambience and service are good but it is the quality of food which attracts the customer and the same is missing. Hope they innovate themselves
Akshay Sharma
This is the best place if you are looking for South Indian food in Dehradun with some authentic taste. Staff here is really the best of what I have came across till date. Taste is above average and it's light on pocket as well. It's a must visit place for atleast once
Akshat Mittal
The best place to have south Indian dosas in town. Preparation is similar to south India and taste reminds you of authentic original dosas..should go at least once and try rawa onion Mysore masala dosa and paper Mysore masala dosa..the complimentary rasam and papad add to the taste
Aishwarya Sheral
Ordered a platter which includes one idli, one medu vada, one small masala dosa and one small onion uttapa.
Onion uttapa was really tasty. Mysore rava onion masala dosa too was good. I liked their coconut chutney. They need to work on their sambar though.
The prices are really high, exorbitant.
They provide bisleri himalayan spring water bottle worth Rs. 50. That is the worst part. Such a big restaurant but they dont have their own potable water. They even don't keep mineral water bottle worth Rs. 20. It is such an annyoing thing for travellers.
Akriti Joshi
Loved the food and services both! We ordered Masala Dosa and Uttapam, and when we left we were so full. The taste was incredible. Worth visiting! 😊
Prateek Tomar
Really awesome place nice food friendly staff. Tried rava masala dosa and mysore paneer dosa loved the taste of it. They even serve complimentary papad and rasam to open up your appetite.

One of the best places in dehradun to have south Indian cuisine.
I had mysore rawa masala dosa and it reminded me of the original taste of mysore masala dosa.
Would surely recommend this place as a must visit.

Best South Indian food in dehradun!! It's very rare to have an authentic South Indian food in North India but this restaurant have it all. They serve complimentary rasam and papad as a welcome treat to anyone who is there with you irrespective of ordering food or not. Staff is very polite and best available in town. Ambience is typical South Indian and very soothing.

Stopped for early morning bfast, before heading to the airport! The food was yum! Served hot and fresh. Loved the mantras playing early morning! Its located at the heart of Ddn. The complimentary rasam and papad were great too! We ordered idlis, which were soft and tasty, the paper sada dosa was delicious too! The onion uttapam and coffee were commendable also. All in all, a must tasty visit.

A mumbaikar in dehradun .
i usually visit dehradun once a year from the past couple of years and this is my mandatory check in place.
South indian food in the north is something you crave off.
A fine dinning and comfortable sitting with a woody decor felt good.
This place welcomes you with a sweet melody tune . The waiter give you sanitiser to wash your hands after you are placed. They serve you rasam and applam (papad) as a welcome dish.

food:
1)Platter-1 idli , 1 medu vada, 1 masala dosa and 1 mini uttapam .
This is served with 3 types of chutneys and sambhar.
This platter is filling for 1 person and its easy on the pocket also .

2) Masala dosa- The dosa was crisp and masala inside was perfect and fresh .
Masala wasn't too spicy but was tasty and perfect mashed .

3)Panner uttapam -uttapam was thick and panner was on the top .Once a try

Hospitality is top notch , from your entry ,from having food and till the time you pay bill and leave.

Price wise its dosa are on the higher sides so platter is something economically beneficial and you could eat and dine nicely which comes with a cost.

Quality - 2/10
Quantity - 5/1

Poor taste of food especially Dosa and Uttpam. Quantity was not sufficient according to the prices. Really disappointed with the overall experience.

This place serves authentic and most toothsome South Indian in town. Carrying a quality sitting provision and studded with quality decor. The place welcomes you with rassam(south Indian welcome drink) and applam(papad) amalgamated with soft south indian classic melody all this together gives you enough of south indian vibes right here in north. The food tastes ultimate.. The prices are generous to your pocket. Do visit this place with family and friends to experience some authentic south indian dine-in while sitting cozily in north.

Right from the ambience till food..everything is just super amazing.A very calm and peaceful restaurant with mouth watering food.
We ordered one platter which was pretty amazing,a mysore masala dosa which was again delicious, dahi vada which had a perfect blend of taste and fresh lime which is absolutely refreshing.
One of the things that I really like is that they give you hand sanitizer before you get your hands on food.
P.S They provide you with papad and rasam in the begining which is complimentary.
The only thing I dint like was their coconut chutney. The other two are great in taste.
An amazing fresh lime with proper fizz👌
Keep up the good work guys. And not forgetting to mention its absolutely reasonable.

The best thing about this place is it's hospitality.Another best part is complimentary rasam and papad.Food is also up to the mark. One can visit it as it has best taste of South Indian food in the town.

South indian vibes is the go to for the best South Indian food restaurant in town. I love the food and ambience and everything!! The owner and staff are very friendly and ensure you have a great time.
Utkarsh Bhardwaj
We were recommended by one of my father's friend saying it is the best South Indian food you can have in Dehradun. We had the platter there and it was quite good. The food was nice and the ambience was commendable.
Satyam Jìndal
South Indian Vibes is no doubt the best South Indian restaurant in the town. No other place is comparable to this one . The restaurant has an typical South Indian feel and hospitality is commendable. Located in the heart of the city in Ashley Hall the restaurant provides best South Indian dishes. The dosa, idli, uttapum like everything is upto the mark. The best part is complimentary papad and rasam. The overall pricing is okay and suits the food provided. There is only indoor seating here and it's a part of black pepper restaurant . I'll highly recommend this restaurant to every reader If one seeks South Indian cuisine. I'll give 4.5 stars to food. 4 to Ambience and 4.5 to hospitality.

So I visited south Indian vibes right after I had unsatisfactory dinner at the adjacent restaurant. I absolutely loved the place, the waiting staff is highly professional and pays a lot of attention towards the customers. By far one of the best south Indian food i have had in dehradun, I loved the filter coffee i ordered. The best part of the restaurant is that it serves rasam to people which was tangy and enjoyable. The food I ordered was indeed perfect, and satisfied every taste bud of mine. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
Ulfet Tirmizi
Average South Indian food. But I'm from South India, so maybe you'll like this place if you haven't had authentic South Indian food before. We ordered dahi vada, mysore masala dosa, rava mysore masala dosa, thali, uthappam, and cheese dosa. Everything was okay, not outstanding. I had to go here for a birthday treat, but would probably never visit again if I had a choice.
Shwetabh Mathur
Good food taste wise.. The platter has a variety thats quite a stomachwisevand the thaali is stuff ideally for 2 people qty wise. A place where u can enjoy ur food in a different ambience

This place is every Southie students in Doon’s dream come true. Interior replicating modern and traditional style of decor, the right lighting, Vishnu Sahasranama through the speakers and agarbatti fragrance nce in the air will lift up your souls to a divine level of your Grandma’s Agraharam (southies will know what I’m trying to say).

Coming to the food, The Ghee Roast Dosa is the one everyone should try. Mysore Masala Dosa is also something to crave for. :-)
Abhinav Saxena
Nice place to try some south indian dishes in Dehradun. The restaurant is spacious with good seating. The service is prompt. I went with my family and we tried couple of dosas - masala dosa, coconut rawa, mysore plain, Ghee roast, dahi wada, filter coffee. All were good! The Ghee Roast plain dosa was top notch! Also for people who can't use stairs they have a lift as well so very convenient. The prices justify the quality of food served.

One of the best south Indian restaurants in Dehradun.
The ambience is really nice. Mr. Vipin's hospitality is much appreciated. I got a complimentary sweet dish too.. ☺️

By far the best place to have South Indian in Dehradun ! Masala dosa, vegetable utthapa and the rava kesari ! To die for. Cool off later with a Mango lassi. Cheers !

I find this place to be closest in terms of serving authentic south indian cuisine in Doon. Being a south indian food lover, the dishes here were very good. We tried idli, mysore masala dosa, uttapam and their speciality- cheese dosa. All the dishes were fresh and good in taste.
A slight improvement in the coconut chutney will do wonders!!!

As it was this amazing anf trust worthy place ! To be honest these people are way to good at helping if you leave any of you major belongings there . If you wish to eat good south Indian food in the city, then you must visit this place. It has all the factors ticked. Ambience could be improved as well as the price. But overall it's a good restaurant.
