Review Punjab House Restaurant - Ernakulam

Vishnu S Gopi
Best north indian food in Kochi..their curry portion is little bit less..dining space is less..taste is good..one time try..not that much costly..normal price only..but we have to pay even for onion and pickle..
Anand Ganesh
All the parathas we ordered were very hot, tasty and super soft! Loved their raita and lassi which was super thick and creamy! Best part is it's pocket friendly!
Dominic Rishi
We had a great meal at the Punjab House. As tourists we received a very warm welcome from the gentleman at the front who made sure we understood the menu and kindly suggested a few items for us to eat - taking our spice preference into account. The food was exceptional and we had a great experience. We’d recommend to anyone - local or tourist - who is in Kochi!

Decent North Indian food to try out in the city ! Aloo parathas and mixed sabzi were delightful…
sonu saji
The best place for North Indian food in kochi, the foods are very tasty the only issue is the space for dinning is congested and small
Pankaj Sharma
Authentic North Indian food with Punjabi tadka. Nothing fancy just your basic roti, sabzi chawal dal. No tandoor items Must try - aloo Paratha with extra butter, kadhi, dal fry Other specials ( Boondi raaita, lassi -chash )

aloo paratha with raita nice combination... Sweet lessi was yummy
Piyush Bengani
The oldest vegetarian restaurant in Kochi. 65 years old now, and it turned out to be the first vegetation joint in all of Kerala. The food was authentic Punjabi and yummy. Will come back for more. Oh and the host were really nice too. The shop was started by his mom. Highly recommended.

Aloo Paratha is my favorite item here, very fluffy and really spicy. I have visited the place after 5 years and taste is still yum. The rates are really nominal for the rates they charge. One Curry will be just enough for one. Place was fully occupied as always. During peak times you will have to wait to grab a seat. They serve really quick.
Ranjith K
Superb taste !!! Food was very tasty. Highly recommended for all classes. Especially for families. Pure and pakka vegetarian punjabi foods. Good service is also offered. Whatever had from there is just awesome, a visit to this place is a worthy one. Seating capacity is less and parking area for four-wheelers is an issue. Otherwise 💯🤤

Every North Indian dishes are superb, very rush during peak hours, congested area and congested inside the hotel, but very pleasant to have the food. Try taking parcels rather dining out der.
Evsrikumar Viswanathan
Genuine north Indian food. They open during the noon and close by 3pm. They reopen again by evening. The staff are mostly north Indians and it may take some time for them to register our food orders if you are new to North dishes. Take a clear look at the menu written on a black board near the kitchen and order your food. Ask for onion seperately if you need them with your rotis.
Jayasoorya S
A great spot for trying out North Indian dishes. Authentic Punjabi alooo Paratha, aloo fry, roti etc are available . The ernakulam people Must try this out atleast once. Opens @ 7 pm..closes @10 pm. It is very crowded everyday. The manger is a funny guy who interacts with everyone. Good food, good people.
Suhas S
Great food and service. Place was crowded and hence it felt pretty hot. Tasty Parathas and curries. Owner spoke very friendly. 5 min Walkable from Menaka bus stop.

It's a must Visit if you love punjabi food. We wanted to visit this place for a long time and atlast made it recently. Loved the variety, taste, ambience and most importantly service. Don't miss to interact with pappu uncle who is an enthusiastic person and makes us feel at home. Don't miss aloo paratha and spicy chilli. "Food made homestyle and hygiene and served with love and affection!" It's going to be our regular adda for sure! Dont miss it! You will love it!

I came from Punjab yesterday and was looking for punjabi food.Friends TRUST ME THIS IS THE PLACE. Super taste, Amiable Staff, Great Hospitality, MOST reasonable price, and even after consuming sumptuous food I did not feel any heaviness.
Every time I come to Kochi Punjab House will be my One Stop Destination For food. PUNJAB HOUSE ROCKS.

Hands down one of the best aloo paratha you can have. Relish it with butter and your choice of curry. The pickle is amazing. The sukha aloo was having amazing flavour. Can't express how good it was. Go ahead and enjoy the food over there as I did.

Aloo paratha, gobhi paratha are good. Food is good but very bad presentation and delivery with no onion salad given, no lemon given and no spoon. I ordered jeera rice with dal fry and have no spoon given. Orderd two parathas but only one pickle packet given by them. spoon and pickle must be like gold. They are saving them for bad times.
Hotel lacks basic common sense for food presentation on delivery.

Best in town aloo paratha/sweet lassi.
A must try.
Adithya Satish
Been eating from here since years. Love the Aloo parathas. Best Ive ever had. I keep coming back here for the delicious food. The service is amazingly fast. To top it all up, having the lassi at the end will leave you satisfied with a huge smile on your face. Highly recommend.
George Vakkan
very courteous staff had a lovely conversion with one of them. They offer authentic food that fits your budget. 10/10 recommend.

Only very few things remain unchanged as the city grows.
One thing that has definitely not changed is the food here.
Awesome,homely fresh ...
I can never leave Broadway without dropping in here .
Aloo parathas ,aloo fry and double lassi....
Yum....
Same taste and quality over the years...👍... these are a few of my favourite things ... # feeling nostalgic # great food # to die for lassi
Pranav Acharya
One stop destination for good north indian food . Located in main market . Stuffed parathas, dal, sev tamatar, chhole , lassi etv are must to have. Authentic taste
One of the best places for any North Indian home cooked food. I've been a regular for more than 25 years now... and nothing except the ambience has changed here...
Amazing place and simply order anything anytime... never to upset you at all..
Sriram Prabhu
This place is like home feels. Must visit place for me when I come to kochi. Place has been running for decades now but never compromised on the taste and quality in f food served. Hands down the best veg punjabi food I’ve had. 💯

Been a regular visitor for the past 14 years.
Aloo paratha and lassi - the best in the district.
And excellent value for money.
Visited even during this tough covid time.
Believe me, the taste is as same as ever...
Simple settings but neat ...
Lassi ,to die for...
I can write an essay on that...
That yummy...

Aswin Subramani
The food is really yummy
Specially the rajma and capsicum curry
Really awesome
Loved it!

Easily the best North Indian restaurant in town, and with unmatched authentic taste not to be found in any North Indian restaurant in the city. In a town where any authentic food is tough to find, and easy fast substitutes rule, Punjab House is an exception. Probably the only restaurant serving tandoor-made aloo parathas, which are crisp and soft on the inside. The flavoured dal and other sabjis are unique and authentic in taste, and there is no comparison with all around here. Its long history, warm hospitality and affordability make it a must-go place. And a total oasis for vegetarians.
Bala Krishnan
32 years of same quality. No compromise in taste and quantity. 100% home ka khana types. Must try..East or west south or North Punjabi house ERNAKULAM is the best..
Roshny
Food was amazing😋
Akash Chaudhary

Great for dining with friends and family. Prices are economical and food is great. aloo Parantha, aloo pyaaz parantha, sev tamatar, sev papad and lassi are must try. Staff and owner is friendly. Service is fast. Nostalgia can be felt when the order is written on a slate with chalk.
Arun Kumar
One of the best dineout to have some awesome veg dishes...
And great hospitality
Toby Antony
Kochi' oldest North Indian restaurant but still the best. Papu ji always greet us with friendly smile. Other than space constraints, everything is great to say about Punjab House.

Awesome food. Great experience
Reetan
One of the oldest Punjabi veg restaurant in Kochi
Mainly catering for North Indian tourist and North Indian public at a reasonable rate
It's famous for his aloo paratha and dal fry
Pranabes Dutta
A convenient place to eat for shoppers in Broadway market, but the food isn't great in terms of taste.
The palak paneer didn't have the spinach mashed and lacked paneer, the dal fry was bland, they had just put tadka in dal instead of frying it, the mixed veg was just oily and not tasty.
Liked the lassi which was quite thick and refreshing.
Shubham Patil
Awesome Food , small but really nice food anyone craving for North Indian food , come here Alu paratha with raita bestt I love it
Niranjan Sheelavant
Authentic Punjabi cuisine
Roshen Charles Philips
The best place to have authentic Punjabi cuisine. Small but mouth watering if you are looking for ambience along with non veg try their Urban paratha! But aloo paratha even the urban paratha can't match!
Shraddha Gaurav Jain
Taste is very nice, specially daal and Ali paratha. It’s one of the oldest pure veg restaurant. Most importantly the owner Pappu Uncle is very lively and jolly. Even if u don’t like food, you will definately enjoy the food in his company. Definately recommended.
Rahul's Food Scenes
One of the oldest veg restaurant in town serving some North Indian food especially punjabi food. If you don't mind about ambiance but just food then this place is recommended. Hot alu paratha with a scoop of butter on top or phulka chappathi with some bhindi masala or even just white rice with some dal and a passion to wash down whatever you have cost for two wouldn't go above 200₹.

Place is crowded and lacks hygiene but food isn't bad it would have been a 5 star for me if it was hygienic too.
Siddharth Sebastian
My dad has been going here since 1990 and I've been going here since I was 5, I'm 20 now. The food is incredible and the man who owns the shop is a sweet heart. He still sits at the billing counter on his throne. Also Paratha + Dal is the realest
Snehal Argulewar
I was in kerala for a week and badly wanted north Indian food. Then found out about this hotel in the busy streets of marine drive broadway. Pocket friendly restaurant with tasty food. I had aloo fry and chapatti with lassi all for 84 rs☺
Sharanya
The best place for typical Punjabi food in a crowded street of Broadway...value for money n satisfactory quality...over time the size of their Parathas have decreased but the taste is heavenly
Must try aloo paratha 💯
Aravind H
What an amazing place to eat those Punjabi cuisines right inside the Broadway circle. I've been going to this tiny restro since 2013 times. The owner and the staff are extremely friendly and quick.
Priyal Murdia
The restaurant is really good... the location might not be eye appealing at first glance and also the restaurant might look small... but if you are a vegetarian then you must visit this restaurant.. Must try their Lassi. The owner uncle is too cute and very friendly... if you are having a bad day then a conversation with the owner might just cheer up your mood!!
Mani...
Have had food here around 2011-12. Now (2018) after long time went here.
This shop had one of the best Aaloo Parotas and lassis.. But now I don't know why, the cost is high but taste is not wort the cost!
The taste is not bad, but not as before.
Must try:
Aloo Parathas with butter
Lassi
Boondhi raitha
Vidhya Bala
ShajiChennai
Great place for North Indian homely food. Have maintained the same quality and service since 35 years I have been visiting this place.
Fast, tasty and pocket friendly.
Roshini Joseph
Best place for great paratta lassi and North Indian veg dishes
Mind blowing aloo paratta
Boondi raita is yum
Their dal fry and curry
Terrific taste and the crowd there at the restaurant says it all
Abdul Hadi Ahmed
The Aloo Paratha & Gobi Paratha are a delicacy enjoyed best with butter & lassi alone at Punjab House. They have a special fried chilly which i didn't find anywhere else, it was new to me, but the perfect combination for an Aloo Paratha
Vineetha Beth
Hidden in a cozy corner at Broadway...Punjab House is no new entrant among foodies who are ardent fans of Aloo and Gopi Parathas with Makhan, Dal Fry, Koftas and thirst quenching Lassssiiiiii. Hands down the only place I would say in Kochi where you can come in bindaaaasss and be served hot hot parathas by an ever energetic and passionate team!
Priyanka Panicker
PUNJAB HOUSE .
With an authentic beginning who ever comes to this restraunt is served with NIMBU(lemon) and PYAAZ(onion)
.
Ever tried their Aloo parantha?? Tastes best after my mom's. The potato fillings were evenly spread across the parantha with finely chopped greenchilly and well cooked..
Ghee was smeared over the parantha for multiplying its taste. However curd wasn't served along with it as it happens in other' restraints. So we had to order it separately. And it seemed a bit pricy considering the rates of other items on the menu.
.
Mix sabzi was just out of the world . It was more like mixed veg with potato, tomato, peas etc. To my surprise it also had cut pieces of papad which gave it a North Indian touch.
It was garnished with chopped coriander leaves....
.
Located in the Broadway . A perfect meal for North Indian food lovers.
.
Items are decently priced
Aloo parantha ₹30
Curd ₹20
Chapati ₹6
Mixed veg sabzi ₹70

Ratings. 4/5
---------------------------------------
Food - 4.5/5
Ambience -3/5
Service -2.5/5

Possibly the oldest punjabi restaurant in town. But it still havent lost it's charm. serves cities best veg punjabi dishes. Though it's inside the market, people comes from different parts of the city to have aloo parata and lassi from punjab house.
Anil Vignesh
One of the few vegetarian places where I'm a frequent visitor. Their Lassis are heavenly, thick curdy nectar! Offers a variety of parathas, paneer, chena and other north india curries. Food is pretty tasty and the service is fast.

Doesn't offer any ambiance, its strictly for gobbling down delicious food.
Aishwarya Krishna Iyer
The best place for Punjabi food! Have enjoyed the taste of their food from my childhood and still going. My favourite is Aloo Paratha, boondhi Raita, Aloo sabji, Paneer, With sweet lassi. I guarantee you a Happy Tummy!☺️👌🏻
Ramesh Pai
Still best Alloo parotta in Ernakulam... easily beat all big restaurants and tht too just for 30rs ....tht consistency.. superb .... Negative side will be curries not thick gravy items available....
Sidharth C.R
Simple. Humble. Eloquent
Three words that can sum up my food experience here. Very simple down to earth preparations with a very good pricing and portion. This is how small time joints should be.

The ambience is very clean and neatly maintained. Parking could be an issue so I suggest anyone go walking. Aloo paratha was okay but phulkas and the aloo Gobi, tawa dal were quite wholesome..😊

Try the weekday lunch here..thats when it's probably least crowded I suppose.
Prashant Tibrewal
A small place which serves amazing north rooted dishes amidst Kerela. An authentic North Indian dishes Must have Aaloo Pranthe , Lassi , Mirchi fry and Rice Papad !
Vishal Kediya
Excellent taste and best value for money pure vegetarian food place. Decent ambience and very small place and taste is authentic north indian and enough options to select from. I loved aloo paratha and dal tadka.
Anand Suresh
This is probably one of my fav places in Kochi, superb taste and cheap rates. The butter roti and the aloo paratha are a delight, along with their good range of curries. The lassi is a must try, as it is authentic. Maybe a thumbs down on the ambience, but still always a pleasure coming here.
Sanju Trivedi
When you visit a place twice in a day for both lunch & dinner, then you can obviously infer that the food is too good.
The best place in Kochi to have North Indian food. Should be in your checklist if you are visiting Kochi.
Gayatri Viswanathan
Really, really nice place. The food is delicious and the people are spiffing adorable. Whenever I find myself missing lassi in Kochi, I return to this place.
Ashwini Nandakumar
Excellent authentic punjabi food. Best punjabi dhaba in kochi. Tastes like home cooked food. Ambience is poor, cleanliness also poor. Don’t worry about the hygiene, been eating here for many years and never fallen sick. The owner is very friendly. Always packed, so might have to wait for a table during peak hours. Must have their aloo paratha, lassi, kadhi, rice fry, dal tadka.
Aarya
I went to this place on the basis of the reviews here.. saying the place is chotta but the food is badiyaaa but THERE IS NOTHING GREAT HERE.first of all it’s kinda hard to find the place..the place is well crowded and stuff..ordered aloo paratha as they are well know for those. Well it was thick and alloo was sufficiently stuffed unlike other restaurants which serve just parathas with only traces of aloo.. (it was salty tho).. then matar paneer and lassi was okayishhh and the service was satisfactory and the cleanliness 👎👎👎👎👎
Rajat Garodia
Must visit place for north indian food lovers, their paratha's are one of the best i ever had in south india, considering the price they charge. Keep an eye on tables and occupy as soon as it gets vacant, otherwise you will keep on missing your turn.
George Tom
We've been visiting this place at Broadway since the past 15 years or more.. Although we're not very regular because of the distance from home, we mostly visit this place atleast few times a year..There hasn't been much change in the ambience, although a small place they really maintain the cleanliness as well as the quality and authenticity of the food.I really appreciate it that they have maintained the quality over the years.I am almost a pure non vegetarian but when I think of vegetarian food ,then this one of the very few places that comes to my mind at first thought. Most of their items are fixed but they also have a few items that change each day which you can see from the menu I've uploaded..
Bhavya Jain
Best north indian food in kochi!!
Excellent service!!! Truly love this place!!
Do visit all aaloo Parantha lovers.
Must try for good tasty food
YOGESH MALPANI
Amazing food.......specially the parathas......budget friendly and damn tasty......authentic punjabi style........service is super quick.......
S Subramanian
Genuine North Indian style prepared, medium spicy dishes with adequate proportions for an individual in a convenient hospitable setup, this place is an absolute delight to your palate and wallet.

Having visited the joint close to 10 times in the last couple of months, can absolutely vouch for the expectation vs reality of dishes this dhaba has to offer.

Dishes tried:
Aloo Jeera - 3/5
Rajma - 5/5
Dal tadka - 5/5
Kadhi - 4/5
Matar Paneer - 5/5
Baingan ka bharta - 4/5
Boondi raita - 5/5
Rotis (Phulka) - 4/5
Gobi paratha - 3/5
Aloo paratha - 4/5
Lassi - 3/5

Service - Lightening fast, although you might have to put in efforts to grab the attention of the waiters since they are just too occupied with customers.

Special mention of the owner who greets and meets all customers with a contented, cheerful smile at the billing counter to round things up for the visit.
Sruthy Varma
Excellent punjabi food, good hospitality, reasonable rate, should try once, while everyone pass through broadway,,,whose found of North indian cuisines

Surabhi
Good homely food at good price and good service.
People should try this out.
North indian food.
Good place and customers are served very well.
Sreethala
A small no nonsense shop tucked away in Broadway street this place has mastered operational efficiency. With a rotating menu each day service is quick and food is tasty. We tried this place on 2 days - ordered daal fry ,daal Makhani , alu fry, mutter panner ,peas curry , chilly fry ,boondi raita, jeera rice and lassi. Food is authentic, easy on the stomach and much more easy on the pocket. Please note place has no ambience however is very neatly maintained. Price came to ~200 for 2 for a fulfilling dinner.
Mohit Sharma
Came Kochi for the first time.
Amazing North Indian food you can get at this place.
Small but a good place for food!!
North Indian will be happy for getting good north Indian food in Southern Indian.
Ruben John
The MOST AUTHENTIC panjabi food here in Kochi that's what it is. Lovely people , simple yet amazing dishes always served with some onions and a slice of lime. I particularly loved the Aloo Paratha, best i ever had in Kochi. Must visit place of any foodie.

Note: In the evening they open at 7.
