Review The Yellow Chilli - Ernakulam

This is a must try place in Kochi. They don’t have huge list of dishes, but they serve only the best of them. I actually loved their dishes. I tried a chicken starter which was nice and i loved it. Then ordered for a mutton dish and roti. Mutton dish was ok but i loved the chicken starter well. You will get a welcome drink and and some pappad with chutney. They also have a sweet grated papaya mix in their pickle set which was awesome. Their gulab jamun also tasted great for me. The service of the staffs is appreciable and they serve from the heart. They are very kind and outstanding.

Nice ambience, attentive service and friendly staff. A good place to have North Indian dishes. Chicken biriyani is really nice with lot of spices, even the curry was very tasty. Mojitos was not up to the mark but can try.

An authentic north Indian food experience. I think the best you can get in Kochi. Very courteous staff. Decent ambience. Price might look expensive but it is worth the taste. They accept Dineout, so we had some variety items within budget! We had: Harippa paneer tikka: Really soft paneer, adequately spicy - the best I had in kochi Cheese chilly chicken tikka: Chicken was well cooked and the chest was well-coated on the chicken Kababwali sabzi - Amazing veg kababs with sweet and spicy gravy! Jeera pulao - quantity enough for 3 people and quality how it should be! Special mention to the side items like pudina chutney, red chilly paste coated onions and roasted papad.

We were delighted with the food at the yellow chilli. The ambience is ok , the prices are fancy , the service is decent but the food it delightful. We tried the biriyani which was just average but the rotis and the dal curry stole the show . They serve you with papad and sauces to begin with which in itself is a good starter . If not for the price , everything else is good .

Being a Sanjay Kapoor franchisee, this place serves one of the best North Indian cuisines in Cochin. Located at the food court of Lulu mall. Their Lal Mircha ka Saundha Murgh tikka, Rajasthani Murgh ka Mokul and Lazeez Murgh tikka are some of our favourites. Their Fried rice and other bread items are also very nice. The quality of the ingredients they use and the richness in the flavours makes this place the best North Indian restaurant in the city.

This restaurant is part of the yellow chilli restaurant chain of Sanjeev Kapoor. The restaurant is located in Lulu mall food court. It has seperation from the food court so has enough privacy. The menu mainly focuses on local cuisine and Indian cuisine. Most of the items have Sanjeev's touch. We ordered prawns pulao and chicken biriyani. The prawns pulao was superb you should try it if you visit. There is welcome drink which was nice. The rasom soup was nice too. The dishes are neutral when coming to spicy which is good you can enjoy the real taste but if you want extra spicy you should mention it. The ambience go with the yellow theme and was nice. The service was nice and staff were friendly. Will definitely try again and a must visit if you go to Lulu mall.

BLOG: EATLIKEJO If we are searching for a North Indian restaurant in kochi city, the search can stop right then and there! Already couple of years old in the city, i happened to visit a restaurant owned by one of India’s renowned Chef. It’s none other than Sanjeev Kapoor and the restaurant is called ‘The Yellow Chilli’. Located at Lulu Mall this restaurant has a motto written outside, ‘Redefining food’. Indeed the goes to all lengths to distinguish it in all levels and the chef at the kitchen did a gorgeous job in recreating wonders of Sanjeev Kapoor’s cookbook. I disliked soups a bit, as the tastes were not suiting my tongue, rest what all they have served was amazing. My favourite picks of starters were Trio of Broccoli, Mutton Raan and Paneer Malai Kalimirch Tikka. Surprisingly both of my picks are vegetarian, normally it’s not how it goes. 😂 Guess North Indian foods takes its charms on vegetarian food a lot as we in Kerala seriously lack veg dishes in restaurants but we really do have a lot at our home. In Mains I was completely taken over by Malai Kofta, Kababwali Subzi and Rogan Josh. Again it’s vegetarian that really got me wanting for great healthy food. The verdict is clear from start, I could identify flavours for each dish and nothing had any correlation to any other dish served. The flavour notes were impressive, with each dish carrying a distinctive aroma and taste. Thanks for the amazing experience. Ambience-4.5/5 Food-5/5 Service-5/5 Value for money-3.5/5

I tried the buffet of Friday. It was good. The soup was slightly spicy for me as the pepper was giving me a cough. The staters were really good. I didn't like the dahi chat dish, I felt it needs more flavour. The main course had was amazing. There was a mango drink and gulab jamun as dessert. Service was excellent, ambience is average as it's right next to he LuLu food court. The restaurant food rates are on the premium fine dining side so it might burn your wallet.

Located in the top floor of the lulu mall Kochi. This place have great interiors and serves best dishes in both veg and non vegetarian options. A bit expensive. The biriyani varieties are good . Gud service .

Soft lighting with a cozy feel. Really cool copper lampshades hung from the ceiling. Polite and warm staff. Quick service. Menu includes mainly north Indian dishes, but they did have fish moilee! Food was oozing with flavor and aroma. The jeera in the rice and the chilli in the mushroom, all the spices were there at the right mix. However, I would have liked appam with my fish moilee!

In the hustle of one of the largest mall in India is yellow chilli on the 03rd floor of the food court. Tucked in one corner of food court is a perfect place if you want to enjoy north indian cuisine down south India. A fine dinning setup which is done up really nicely with wall arts and good decor to give you a comfortable meal. The food is great especially for north Indians who have been on a vacation or living their. A good place to gives your taste buds a different cusines. For rest you should visit and enjoy the north indian cusine. Had the regular dal makani, butter chicken with rotis. All of them were perfect to the taste and quantity was also perfect. The rotis were also perfectly made too. Not to miss the chutneys were brilliant to give you a complete taste of North India. The staff were very helpful and courteous in helping in choose our side order drinks and as well as getting our order in time.

Great ambience...Food was tasty... Overpriced I feel..may be it's due to the location..Staff behaviour was too good.. really helpful to choose good and tasty food.. Enough space inside..I had both vegetarian and non vegetarian food from thr..both good and I like the Paneer dishes..it was too tasty and masala was less compared to other restaurants.. overall it was great...I like and would like to recommend it..

I payed 200 ruppes for my meal and the taste wasn't even close to 50 ruppes
After a tiring day of shopping at lulu decided to give Yellow Chilli a try after having heard good reviews in the past. The place is located at the food court of lulu and is done up quite well. We were lucky to get a table even though it was quite crowded.

The waiter took a while to come get the order. We'd called for chicken tikka for started and butter chicken and roti. The food was just okay both starters and main course nothing extraordinary in the taste.

One of the great food destination for North Indian .Nice service too.
Loved this place. Definitely recommend this place.

Although rated very highly, the restaurant fell flat on expectations. The service was kind and fast but could overcome the bad food and expensive tag it had. The mutton pieces were just boiled in water and dipped in gravy and served. Rumaali roti were not Rumaali at all and the butter chicken was super sweet. The non veg platter was the only saving grace, which was just good. Overall would not recommend it to anyone wanting to have good food.

Located in India’s second biggest mall, the signature restaurant of Masterchef Sanjeev Kapoor has its unique style of treating their guests with a catchy theme and stylish crockeries to leave an impeccable impression in their minds.
Dal Makhani is a must try.

Great restaurant with good quality North Indian food ,especially when you are at Kochi . Amazing roomali rotis .. service needs to be bit attentive on basics like pouring water and checking Indian bread refills.. will visit again for sure , only for quality of food 🥘

Visiting the yellow chili was always on my mind, whenever I go to Lulu. As a Birthday gift for my wife, I took her there. Speaking of the experience, we had to wait for 25 minutes to be precise to get a table, as the restaurant was packed. The Manager was very kind and did his maximum effort to provide us a table. Order was taken quickly, starters and milkshakes were delivered first which were lip smacking. All though I am not a great fan of North Indian Cuisine, the chicken starter was excellent and the mango milkshake was superb. The main course included a signature gosht biryani and plain rice accompanied with a spicy chicken curry, whose name I forgot. The main course was heavy for us as there was only 2 of us. The biryani was an absolute delicacy. Mutton was perfectly cooked and the indulgence of spices and the basmati rice took it to a whole new level. I highly recommend the gosht biryani at yellow chili’s. The only negative I felt was the overpriced menu and lack of adequate spacing in the restaurant. My humble rating is 3.5/5

Service: 2.5/5
Food: 3/5
Ambience: 2.5/5
Overall: 2.5/5

Service: We had telephoned and reserved a table for 2PM for ten people. Still, it took them additional 45 minutes to get us a table. Seating for large groups is limited at the place. I will give them that it was Christmas Eve, but still the overall service from the whole team just was average even after getting the table.

Food: Portion sizes are small in comparison to some of the alternate restaurants near by. Grilled chicken was serviced without any green chutney, mutton could have been more tender, oil was on the higher end in the gravy dishes. None of the chef recommended dishes were truly amazing

Ambience: Seating is limited, so for rush times reservation is recommended. They haven't done much to build an authentic ambience. It still has a lot of noise from the surrounding areas. You will feel exactly like your neighbor who came for buy a McD burger in the adjacent store.

The manager of the restaurant - Mr.Azeem (one gem of a person). Helped us in every possible way. Made sure my family was comfortable and enjoyed the ambience and food..

This rating is just for him.

I'm from Hyderabad and whenever I am travelling to Kochi, I'll make sure that I'll be visiting The Yellow Chilli definitely.

Cheers!!

Had stepped in with higher expectations. But the outcome wasn’t fitting to the same. The taste of the biryani was so blunt. Mutton wasn’t tender at all. Relation with the mutton and rice wasn’t simply there. Quality of ingredients were qualitative.
Simply felt overpaid for not so so good food. But ambiance wise and service wise was excellent. Highly professional. Will go back to try some roti and curry. Until then I stay dissatisfied in terms of food.

Horrible experience, staff was completely nonchalant and cold from the beginning. Interiors were extremely hot.

Except the Harippa Paneer starter, none of the dishes lived up to The Yellow Chilli standard. Butter Chicken was especially disappointing, completely bland and tasteless.

Papad served was stale, naan lacked flavor. The drinks were decent. I'd not recommend this to anyone, lot of other restaurants around to try out. Completely tarnishes the Yellow Chilli standard we've experienced elsewhere.

Okay, first of all the service was good. But the food was not upto the mark.Hence the 4.1 rating is not justified( for me at least).Or maybe we ordered the wrong things or caught them on a bad day?
The only items we liked were the papads served in the beginning and the rotis/naans.They were soft not chewy. The main course,Puran Singh da Tariwala Murgh, did not have a distinct flavor to make it stand out but nevertheless the "Murgh" was cooked well.We tried the Kurkure Veg Lollipop, again it lacked flavor.

.THE YELLOW CHILLI RESTAURANT. LULU MALL KOCHIN

ITS daylight robbery on selling BHUTAN water.

When you dine out, the first thing that you pay for is water. Apparently, there are two options: either bottled or hot water. Of course, upon request you get chilled or normal fresh bottled water. Since impure water is a big threat to health, most people go for the less necessary evil called bottled water.

On 28.8.2019, we visited THE YELLOW CHILLI in LULU mall. As we are out for a change of taste, type and ambience, we decided to drop in there.

Upon occupying two seats guided by a north-looking waitress, we were offered a thesis like menu and, locating a few dishes out of that was like locating a 100 feet sales shop in LULU MALL itself.

In between, this girl wanted us to choose between bottled water and ordinary water. We went for bottled. Right in front of us was a crystal, tube-like bottled and the girl uncorked it served in two glasses and then she left. Observing the two glasses just half-full, I found the remaining water too little. Out of curiosity, I checked the bottle for its content. It carried only

660.ml. It was astonishingly strange because if there are three people who prefer this bottle, they would go for another bottle.

My interest to fathom the bottle did not stop there. I went for its manufacturer, place of make and price. The first two were down the sticker around and was printed microscopically.

And the price was labelled right down its cap. I read it to get myself shellshocked. Rs.350!!!!!

Fell for them. I felt. I read it again. It read 350. Again I read it removing my eyewear. It read Rs. 350 again.

I showed it to my partner. She fell flat upfront and regretted to have chosen it. I cooled her down and went researching the bottle. A rare one it was. Heavy, cylindrical with finger-prone curves midway, with a few rises and falls to accommodate its name called WEEN STILL.

It looked altogether like a glass bar with a tiny hole from its cap to bottom squeezing in 660 ml of water.

Our further pondering over this daylight robbery revealed that it is from the Himalayas and of Bhutan Government.

A product from Bhutan sold in LULU mall has to be expensive.

HOW EXPENSIVE COULD THAT BE?

HOW COSTLY COULD IT BE IF THE PRODUCT IS WATER? Rs. 350???

FIVE star facilities will go crestfallen seeing this pricing. Alright. It is expensive. We wanted it. We drank it. We must pay for it. How about the bottle?

I asked the waitress. She said you can take the bottle if you like. That means, you may leave it behind if you are note interested to carry a heavy bottle. Anyway, we took it with us. After all it is the CLEAREST SIGN OF a DAYLIGHT ROBBERY.

IT RAISED A SERIES OF QUESTIONS AND I WOULD LIKE ANSWERS FROM ALL THOSE WHO READ IT INCLUDING THAT CELEBRITY CHEFF WHO OWNS THE BRAND YELLOW CHILLIES.

1. DOES A MAHAARAJA DINING DESERVE Rs.350 WATER?

2. WHEN THEY OFFER TO CHOOSE BETWEEN ordinary and bottled, shouldn’t they mention THAT A bottled WATER costs you 350?

3. Once one has chosen bottled, any additional water will be bottled too. Naturally, one has to buy water for Rs 700. Where are we dinning out?

Shouldn’t they tell us that it is a special water and pricing includes the bottle too?

4. Is there any one in kerala-- who wishes to dine out -- who would pay 350 rupees for drinking 660.ml of water?

5. Why don't they keep bottled ordinary water too on the table to choose between?

6. Why don't they carry their ordinary water with them when they want us to choose between the two?

7. Who are they offer water from Bhutan in a market like Kerala that wants water from its own lands?

8. Are consumers not entitled to see the pricing of water in the menu card?

9. Who the hell is going to raise a hornets’ nest on a bottle of water?

10. What if one does not happen to have enough to pay a bill just due to

this robbing water billing?

11. Is a consumer expected to expect water from Uganda, Amazon and Bhutan when they dine out for a day?

12. Are these YELLOW CHILLI folk sure that everyone is there with bales of paper currency and swathe of plastic money cards?

Questions galore. In between, we must say of their dishes. Not bad. We must admit it. But Killingly priced.

See what we had and what we paid for.

Two jaw-jerking rotees.

A paneer dish of some TOUNGUE-DEFYING NOMENCLATURE

A jeera rice, SOMETHIING LIKE a nano rice make

A one-by-two soup (that tasted really different)

A bottle of the said LOOTING FROM BHUTAN and a few welcome fire-fired pappad rolls and some onion peels and a paste.

It took Rs. 1150 something from us.

It stopped there because we chose much less costly ones upon the shocks of the water bottle.

That is nearly 800 rupees, barring the water bottle. No food was any different. The water neither. Its bottle apparently was.

There are dishes for Rs. 475. 375. 299. 195.. etc.

NOW I WOULD LIKE YOU TO DECIDE ON VISITING THIS ROBBING EATERY.

MAHARAAJAS dines ARE NOT KNOWN FOR LOOTING THEIR SUBJECTS.

NAHAAA MEALS SHOULD NOT BE MEGA THEFTS.

The offence we did was, we went there. Was it reason enough to put us in such a miserable and despicable state of affairs?????!!!!!

I WOULD LIKE EVERY ONE WHO READS IT TO THINK THREE TIMES BEFORE THEY GO TO THAT WATERLOOOOTING PLACE.

IT IS A SHAME OF THE FINEST ORDER TO

LOOT PEOPLE BY serving WATER.

WATERLOOTING I CALL IT.

An unsuspecting consumer is taken for a ride using a water brought from Bhutan, a country that is known for GROSS DOMESTIC HAPPINESS.

Here it is gross daylight hoodwinking…. To say the least.

THE GOVT. OF KERALA OFF AND ON RECITES THAT HOTELS AND EATERIES THAT HOODWINK AND KILL PEOPLE WITH BILLS WILL BE BOOKED AND TAKEN TO TASK.

HERE IS A CASE OF HOODWINKING POOR UNSUSPECTING CONSUMERS by willfully hiding the price of a product and imposing prohibitive bills upon buying it.

ITHUM KOOODE SERI aakkkooo.

NO HARD, BAD OR WRONG INTENTIONS BEHIND THIS WRITING.

A PRINTED COPY OF THIS WILL BE SENT TO THE CEO

OF Yellow Chilllies.

REQUESTING HIM TO REVEAL THE PRICE OF the said water before it is UNBOTTLED. I had to write this review just because of the amazing experience I had while dining at The yellow chilli, with both my babies. We were being served by Mary, and from the time I entered I was made to feel so comfortable. Dining in at a restaurant is no piece of cake when your co diners are aged 2and a half years old and 8 months old. But Mary was simply wonderful and so helpful. Right from getting us a nice booth to sit in, to getting the younger baby into her high chair, customizing orders according to my toddler's demands, to getting special food that my 8 month old could eat (since she has a no salt rule). The food was great, clean flavours and loved by all of us. We ordered the signature guiness record khichdi with choley, and blueberry phirni brulee for dessert.
Walking into this place was completely unplanned, but I'm so glad I chose this place that day.

Thank you for delivering a wow moment!

Butter chicken was good. Could have been better for the price. Ambience was nice. Service was nice and polite.

One of the best places in Kochi for delicious authentic North Indian food. Despite being situated next to the perpetually crowded and noisy food court in Lulu Mall, Yellow Chilli provides you a peaceful and pleasant dining experience.

MAINS

1. Murg Malai Kofta. 5/5. Divine. Fingerlicking delicious. The Malai gravy had a very strong flavour of cashew and couscous. The chicken kofta balls with coriander were tender, moist and delish.

2. Shaam Savera. 5/5. It's exquisite. This is one of their signature dishes and it tasted unlike anything I've had before. The spinach and paneer Kofta balls are incredibly soft and moist and the gravy is pure bliss. I once recommended this dish to a friend and she loved it so much that she got her family to visit Yellow Chilli the following Sunday just to get them to taste it as well. It's a must try.

3. Khadi Pakoda. 4/5. The kadhi was delicious and had the perfect balance between sweet and tadka-ness. However, although the pakodas were crispy, it was mostly just besan with hardly any spinach/onion/filling inside.

4. Lalla Mussa Dal : 3.5/5. It was thick, creamy and tasty but we expected more depth of flavour or something unique as it is one of their signature dishes. It was rather ordinary to be priced ₹305.

STARTERS

1. Bhuna Pistachio Soup. 4.5/5. The mild flavour of pistachios cuts through the very pungent Bhuna flavour and its absolutely delicious. Creamy deliciousness.

2. Sweet Corn Soup. 4/5. It was creamy and not too overly sweet. Tasty but unremarkable.

3. Chanajor garam tikka. 5/5. Potatoes have never tasted so good. Well seasoned, velvety soft mashed potato and goeey cheese in a crispy black gram coating. A welcome change from the plethora of paneer starters.

BREADS

1. Warqi(layer) Paratha. 5/5. It's a lot like a fine dining equivalent of Kerala Porotta. A flaky paratha with several incredibly soft layers that stand out beautifully. It's a must try.

2. Missi Roti. 5/5. Perfectly spiced with a mild smoky tandoor flavour. It's one of the best missi rotis I've had. It's better than the ones served by some of the renowned restaurants in Delhi.

3. Pyaaz aur Matar Kulcha. 5/5. The Kulcha is soft and the onion and peas filling is an absolute knock out. I highly recommend this.

4. Ulta Tawa Paratha. 4/5. Tastes just like a normal maida lachcha paratha. Flaky, soft, buttery and tasty but given Yellow Chillies' high standards, we expected it to be better.

5. Pyaaz Mirch Roti. 4/5. Soft roti with a mild onion and chilly flavour. Nothing remarkable but if was tasty.

6. Roomali Roti. 4/5. The texture was rather hard for a roomali roti. Other than that, it was pretty good.

DESSERTS

1. Gulab Jamun. 3/5. It was rather ordinary. It wasn't the soft, melt-in-your-mouth delicacies that one expects a good Gulab Jamun to be. Certainly not worth ₹215.

2. Blueberry Phirni. 5/5. Rich, creamy and delicious. One of those desserts you would want to savour every bit of.

The sweet raw papaya chutney (update : It's not complimentary anymore. Avaliable in the Salad menu) served as complimentary is absolutely delicious.

The staff is very courteous, service was prompt, every dish was well presented and served hot.

I ordered food in.. I ordered a chicken curry and prawn pulao. The curry was bland with less salt and I might as well have ordered a peas pulao. I am not exaggerating but there were 2 prawns in the pulao and I paid quite a bit for it.. thoroughly disappointed with the food.... Absolute waste of Rs. 1000.

Yummy food, except for the dessert. I crashed here for lunch on our way to the airport. We had a yummy mushroom starter, dal makhni and jeera rice. All of them were the best I had so far. I tried rasmalai for dessert but it was not as great as the rest. Nice ambience. Staff were quite helpful.

Had tried out the Khumb Hara Pyaaz along with naan and rotis. The curry was delicious. Would love to try non veg dishes for the next visit!
Service was prompt. Ambience wise, yes pretty much like any decent restaurant!

Went there on my last leg of Kerala trip when we all were craving North Indian food. The restaurant is part of the chain by Sanjeev Kapoor.

Must try : Murgh Makhani, Urlai roast masala, Lalla mussa dal

Ambience : the restaurant is located in one corner of the food court on the top floor of Lulu Mall. The restaurant has it own seating area and hence you feel a little bit of calm in a huge food court full of noise.

Food : The food by North Indian standards was ok. We directly ordered the mains and went for Murgh Makhani, Urlia roast masala and Lalla mussa dal. The dal and Murgh Makhani was good as expected but the Urlia roast masala was awesome. A new twist on potatoes.

The let down was the green mint chutney which was served with papad. It was very heavy on garlic. The tandoori rotis were thin and very crispy. Tandoori roti felt more like base of thin crust pizza.

It was a good change for us to eat decent North Indian food after eating a lot of Kerala cuisine but I came out disappointed expecting more from the place.
I had seen this restaurant many times in Lulu mall but finally, yesterday we had got a chance to dine here. Place is amazing in its ambience, service and food quality. No doubt the chain is owned by best chef of India. Looking forward to more such meals here.

We went here on a weekday for Dinner. There was enough place, only couple of tables occupied.

Once we settled down welcome drink and Pappad was provided.

Our order was Lawrence Road Tandoori Murgh,
Dum Ghost Biriyani & Rasamalai.

Lawrence Road Tandoori Murgh was classic. Spicy and loved the masala mix.😋

Dum Ghost Biriyani was a bit let down. I expected expected little spicy and more bone pieces 😌 and there is no variety in their menu have only this item under Lamb with Rice.

Rasamalai was 👌👌👌.

Ambiance-restaurant Decor is good cleaned and maintained well.

Staffs are also courteous. Helped us in choosing dishes.

Lawrence Road Tandoori Murgh - Rs.380
Dum Ghost Biriyani - 470
Rasamalai (2 Pieces) - 190

This is a premium restaurant and it is costly, Though the served quantity which was enough for serving two justifies the Cost, still we will rethink to come here frequently.

Total Bill was Rs.1092 for two.

Landed up here for a family lunch on December 1 mainly because we landed in the city and checked into the Marriott behind at different times.

Mum and sister figured this place would be nice because the decor was bright and airy in the food court. The service was prompt but had a tough time understanding the service people since they spoke mostly in Hindi and we struggled a bit.

Our only issue with this outing was the food was ordinary. I mean, you could have gotten this food in a slightly bigger portion for much cheaper at the local multi-cuisine restaurant. Considering that it was from a Sanjeev Kapoor playbook, which we found out much much later, it was definitely not worth the premium price we paid.

However for a refined experience at the food court, this scores better over some of the other options. Would not be our first choice for a meal destination, though.

Best,
The Wandering Epicurean

Went there for my wedding anniversary dinner. Ambience was good. At first they served something like a grape squash and roasted papas with mint and tamarind chutney. We ordered soups. Tomato basil soup and veg manchow. Tomato basil soup tasted like Rasam and veg manchow was average. Ordered veg crispy on skewers which was good.
For mains we ordered their signature black Dal which was very good and Paneer taka Tak which was good too. We ordered peshwari nan and pyaz mirch ki roti which were both good. Veg biryani was OK.
Overall the quantity and quality was good. Price is on the higher side.
Had better expectations reading the reviews.

Usually i do not review but This place deserves a review.

We waited for 30 mins to get a table and it was totally worth the wait.

It’s located in the 3rd floor of a Lulu Mall. Not very big, can accommodate roughly 70-80 people.
Food and service was extraordinary.

Overall a lovely experience. It is also over priced yes, but value for money. Will visit again!

The Yellow Chilly
I had visited this place an year ago when i was in Amritsar Punjab

The ambiance of this place is decent and its welcoming to all age group.

We well come with some Aam panna shots then rosted papad and imli Chutney
The food and starters are a bit on the expensive side but yet they do not compromise on quality and quantity. What you get is worth every rupee which you spend here. Most of the starters we ordered were vegetarian.

Harippa Paneer Tikka. 5/5

Shabnam kabab 5/5

Chana jor tikka 5/5

Also the main course we ordered veg Biryani.

Though its on the expensive side like Rs.370 for one. It was absolutely worth it.

If your not really worried about spending much then I recommend you to surely try this out. It's one of the best I've had in Kochin!! Period!!!

Thank to the staff for always being available and also for their quick service.

5/5

1. We walked to have a good meal, but the staff served us as if they were whipped and made to stand there.
2. I ordered Vegetarian food and he clearly did not hear and got us chicken noodles.
3. He tried to push me to serve chicken after telling him twice that I am Vegetarian.
4. He got the noodles changed and this time came back with half the quantity.
5. The noodles were oily and honestly no where close to Hakka noodles and were damn spicy with chunks of paneer in it ( which looked like egg to me )
6. My friend said the chicken tasted of mustard oil and was pathetic.
We lost our appetite post this to order anything more .

Not to forget, we were served papad with noodles.
Honestly wouldn't have even give 1 star. Please don't waste your time and money.

A very good place to have a private lunch, you can taste the real Indian flavours in their dishes! Loved each and every dishes I tried from there

Good Ambience, however even though its a separate enclosed space but the noise from the food court can be disconcerting.
Tried the Akhroti Murg Seekh (crushed walnuts coated chicken mince kababa).Preparation was excellent and something very different from the standard chicken kababs.Worth trying .Next on our agenda was the Puran Singh Da Tariwala Murgh.Again something very different and worth trying. Its one of their signature dishes. We had this with Rumali roti and Naan. However the Rumali roti was not up to the mark.
Overall a good experience barring the Rumali Roti and the ocassional din from the food cour area.

A restaurant by the famous Chef Sanjeev Kapoor..The murgh makhani was one of the best.. Veg biriyani was superb.. you can eat on its own.. a little on the pricier side but it’s a definitely a must try for North Indian cuisine in Cochin

I wanted to try something new in Lulu Mall with my family and we came across this lovely restaurant. Amongst all the hustle and bustle in the mall, this place just gave a good dining experience. The ambience was soothing and the food was flavoursome. Specially mentioning the starters and the naan. We will definitely drop by again.
Manu
Fine dining at its very best. Haven’t had a bad dish till now. Starters are superb. Shaam Savera otherworldly and Nalli Rogan Josh a pleasure. Oh yes,,it’s costly and the seating limited. But oh boy, it’s splendid..
Kevin Abraham
'Shaam Savera' is a must try. The flavours were perfect and the paneer is the best I've had in Kochi. The ambience and the service are good too.

Went there for my Mother in law's bday 😀Wonderful menu.. 😘 Really loved the food 😀. Excellent customer service. Try their Non veg platter.😀

Location: The yellow chilli, Food court, Lulu Mall.

Ambience: Even though located in the food court, one of the noisiest and busiest places in Lulu. The yellow chilli has been designed to stand apart and give you a comfortable and cosy dining experience. As the name indicates, the place carries mostly a yellow tone followed by black.

Service: I cannot comment much on the service as it was the opening day and all the people of the restaurant did their best to pamper us. Maybe another visit will give me a better idea on how the service progresses with time.

Food: So this is going to be long as I intend to give a short description on all the dishes that we tried.

So we started with the mocktails section

Fancy free- Concoction of orange, mango, litchi, guava juices and ice cream. It was good and creamy to be fare.
Peru Pyala- Guava juice, lemon and chilli served in a chilli rimmed glass. It was spicy and quite refreshing and packed a punch to my surprise.
Virgin Pina Colada- Tropical style blended coconut cream and pineapple juice. Well what can I say. It did stand up to the reputation of the dish.

The mocktails stirred me up and made me wonder what else can I expect for the day. Then came the soups 😂

The soups were Murgh Yakhni Shorba and Prawns pepper rasam. The chicken soup was good but the prawns soup disappointed lacking any flavour.

The starters that were served took me by surprise.
Tangra chilli paneer- A paneer skewer dish which was based mainly on chilly. The taste stood out and for me who was never a fan of veg food or paneer especially, this dish questioned my morals about paneer and planted a seed of reconsideration.
Sarson ke phool- Tender broccoli florets with creamy mustard. One of the best veg starters that I had ever tasted.
Shabnam ke moti- Tandoor cooked mushroom caps stuffed with cheese. Hard to find words to describe this dish as it completely shook me to the core on veg cuisine. The best, I repeat the best veg dish I had ever had.

Now moving to the non veg starters.
Murgh Angaar Bedgi- Chicken tikka spiced with Bedgi chillies. Lip smacking spicy and gobsmacking good.
Cheese chilli chicken tikka- Chicken tikka with cheese chilli topping. The best non veg starter of the night. Just wow.
Rawa fry Machchi- Not describing the dish as it failed to impress one bit. Disappointed.

Then came the main course. Since they specialise in North Indian cuisine, highlights were the breads. We had the Tomato cheese Naan, Mint parattha and Garlic naan. Have to say that the tomato cheese Naan was something which grabbed me by my gut. Cheese burst is the least I can explan of it. Finger licking good. Reminded me of an Indian version of pizza. All the other breads were also good but this one stood out.

In rice, we tried the Dum Gosht Biriyani and the Murgh Noormahal Biriyani. To be frank I have had better Biriyani days so these 2 didn't live up to the expectations.

The curries consisted of
Shaam Savera- Spinach koftas filled with cottage cheese in tomato gravy. Though the dish seemed pretty pleasing to the eye, it failed to tickle my taste buds.
Lalla Mussa Daal- It was delightful and went well with the breads.
Sarson ka saag- Mustard leaves with mainly butter and garlic. I was having mustard seeds for the first time, so this dish felt pretty tasty and unique for me.
Meen Moilee- As the name suggests, our very own fish Moilee. But as a Malayali who has eaten a lot of the authentic fish Moilee, the North Indian version did not pack a punch for my liking.
Lazeez Murgh tikka masala- Chicken tikka in a creamy and spicy gravy. Went really well with the breads.

After the long battle with the main course, we moved on to the desserts.
Gulab-e-gulkand - Gulab jamun with a twist. Huge gulab jamun stuffed with gulkand compose.
Rasmalai- My all time favourite dessert. Brought back a lot of childhood memories. Absolutely loved it.
Kesari Kulfi with rabdi- Kulfi with a slight Kesar flavour. Delightful 😊

Overall it was a delightful experience for me. But the price on most of the dishes are on the higher side. So it would be advisable to have a good budget when u decide to visit.

I wanted to try out some new place in lulu mall, so I just got inside this restaurant. Well, I had a tandoori chicken 🍗 and some butter naans. The quality of the food that was offered to me was just amazing 😉! Good customer service and response by the management. The food doesn’t taste great but good. I like the ambience of this restaurant, comfortable seating arrangement! The welcome drink 🍷 was really good. Overall it’s a good place to have satisfactory tandoor food! Although some people might find it a bit pricey.

We went to try this place as a safe bet thinking of Sanjeev Kapoor chain who has not only become a National brand but an international one.. we ordered tomato shorba which was not up to the mark and not hot enough as well.. this made us loose confidence in the starters too.. we directly jumped to the main course and tried their paneer takatak, dal tadkha and most popular Dall makhani.. food didn't disappoint us... Really loved the flavors, however it's the staff service that disappointed me.. staff was continuously standing on our heads to finish the food and was ready to clear the plates.. they removed my plate even before I could finish my dinner.. so the experience got killed in spite of having such delicious food on the table..
Msajidrehman
Was wary of star Chef restaurants. But The Yellow Chilli was quite good! Really tender and juicy Mutton Chops, spicy and soft mirchi/pyaaz roti and flavorful Hara Murgi. Was pleasantly surprised at the distinct tastes. The Shahi Tukda required a more crispy bread toast. Everything else was perfect (except prices, which could be optimized a bit). Mary was a friendly and attentive hostess.
Saru2011
Had lunch from here today. The service was prompt and polite. We had lasooni mahi tikka for starters which was good not that great, and murgh malai kofta which lived upto its name which was creamy and rich and not spicy. The breads were ok. The food quality was good but did not match the quantity. On the whole it was a pleasant experience.
Ankit Amitabh
Amazingly tasty food and an awesomely great service.
Had ordered Mutton Chops
Soft, juicy and amazingly tasty dish
Even the mirchi pyaz roti was tasty..
Mukesh Jayaram
Food is very good. It's a little mild on the spicy side. Chef specials are pretty good. The biggest issue here is the service. They are extremely slow and even my bill payment took me half an hour.
Minal Patil
food quality not good. service not good. it took 1 hr to get the starters. everyone is lost at this place.
if you are not able to provide a good service kindly close it, as you are not giving anything for free, and only making customers suffer.
Vishnu Prasad
We been there 2-3times now and i must say it's going down hill. First the menu is limited. Ambience for the price they charge is not good.Last time we went got sour milk in the dessert.Kababs had too much salt.Paratha was underdone. When we complaint got a complimentary gulab jamun but no apology from the chef. This is not what is expected from a restaurant of a big chef ..a unapologetic chef.
Rashrhythm
Ohhh so yummy food , polite people, awesome friendly executive chef, mr santosh kumar singh.... Absolutely loved this place...After a long long time I had an authentic biryani. Just wow

I had recently reviewed their Church street, Bangalore outlet (visited Mar'18).

I ordered Paneer Taka Tak and had specifically requested to make it spicy. While taking the order, the person even confirmed if I wanted above normal/medium spicy. It was not made spicy as instructed.

They offered complimentary papad, chutney and a tiny glass of juice. Maybe, since the order was going to take time. Anyway, it was a delight. I didn't get it at their Bangalore outlet.

Quality of food: 4/5
Quantity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Cleanliness: 5/5
Service: 4.5/5
Presentation: 3.5/5 (average).
Ambience: 2/5
Location: 2/5. Location didn't seem right. There was too much of mall noise, passersby peeping and walking in casually.
Pricing and value for money: 2.5/5
Arun Prakash
Wonderful food and nice ambience all together. The first thing I would like to add is it's Value for money, that's in Lulu's top floor court.
I had their signature dishes in chicken: Puran Singh Da Tariwala murg & Murg Kasoori boti along with Romali roti, lacha paratha with olive on it & ordinary roti. Looking forward to dine in there again.
Renu Nair
Went to the restaurant when we we're out shopping in lulu.

We landed up choosing many of chef special dishes and landed up loving every dish we ordered.

The staff was quite friendly as well and kept their smiles to the best that they could.

The interiors were also set up beautifully.
Natarajan Ganesh
The location inside LuLu Mall Cochin and access to the Place is really good. It's a cosy place with a good ambience and less crowd.

We placed order for a veg platter (best veg platter so far) as a starter. We also had Kadai Chicken and Handi ka Paneer along with Roti and Naan. Gravy tasted better but chicken didn't blend with it.
Ramya Sv
Just in Lulu Mall. I have been here several times, and all items on their menu are excellent and have a consistent taste. Their dahi kebab is unique and should not be missed. I also like the ambience, with well spaced tables and interesting decor.
Ramesh Kumar
Went there for lunch on a Monday and was totally satisfied with the food and service. Our server was extremely helpful and hospitable and went out of his way to suggest dishes While the variety of dishes in the main course did leave me wanting when compared to other North Indian restaurants in Kochi ,it was more than made up for by the ambience and service.
Sadha Sivam
The best and the mouth watering tiffin I have tasted in southern part of India is here.

The Lalla Mussa dal was so thick that even the spoon was resistance that you can't enter in it. Heard that it is one of the best selling dishes here and it was so true that I had to order again to tickle my taste buds.

Technical Gaurav
Had ordered prawns peppersoup, Tomato cheese Naan, Green chilly chicken and mutton chops. The cheese Naan was a bit too hard but soup good enough. Rest of the dishes were tasty. My favourite would be the Mutton chops.

The place is awesome. Foods are really great. Deserts are delicious. There are enough servants to attend the customers. Awesome place. I love it
Manoj Kumar
Dropped in for lunch. Ordered their Dum biriyani. However wasn't so impressed with the taste. The place seems good. Waiting staff could be more quick with billing and stuff. Took us a while to get our payment done.
Venkatesh Karthi
The place is nice. The staff are super courteous and extremely helpful. The food is great .There are enough selection of items for vegeterians. The Lamb dishes was awesome!!! The desserts are amazing and the presentation is awesome!

Awesome place... Liked the ambience of the restaurant... Food Quality as well as quantitywas awesome... Priced decently... The manager at the restaurant has very good knowledge... Waiters at this restaurant are friendly..Best wishes to team

Excellent authentic North Indian food.sTastes like home cooked food. Ambience is good, cleanliness also good. The staff is very friendly. Always packed, so might have to wait for a table during peak hours. Must have their aloo paratha, lassi, kadhi, rice fry, dal tadka. Cost is reasonable for two. Will visit again

I had gone with quite some expectations, was disappointed though. Wasn't satisfied with the ordered dishes too that is Potato Stuffed Jul have and Naliari Mutton Kashmiri. Wasn't worth the exorbitant price.
Aswin John
So first things first, we ordered mix grill, nalli rogan josh, romali roti and saada chawal. The mutton kebab was rather dry and the mutton in the rogan josh was rather tough though the gravy was very tasty. The romali roti which comes wrapped in foil was rubbery. The dessert
menu was rather limited. The welcome drink was tasty though. The staff were courteous and the interiors are nice. I did have high hopes for the place and am left disappointed.

Went in with a bulk load of expectation and cannot say I was completely satisfied. but yes things could have been better. let's get to the review..

so first.. a very wrong place to start your first outlet in kochi.. lulu mall third floor is where this restaurant is situated and it has no separation from the mall in physical terms. Hence the noise, the smell and the ambience is compromised majorly... even if it was separated by glass doors or a cubicle I guess it would have been better.. being a fine dine restaurant, I expected better location. coming to staff.. they are so so.. well natured and groomed but they were not too familiar with their own menu.. plus they were not able to give their picks of food and what's best there.. if you do not know your own restaurant well I don't have words then.. they had to be reminded again and again as to which dish we have ordered and what has not come yet on the table..

Coming to food.. again.. a fine dine restaurant by a top chef in India.. well u expect more.. I was not impressed to be very frank.. but that is just me maybe.. I would not generalize the statement but here is why I did not find it enticing enough.. the manchow soup was supposed to be a twisted version in the top chefs way. I am sure he would have hated a ton of salt in it which is exactly what I got.. the pappad served tasted old and the salad given was meagre... I must say that the rotis were quite good in taste.. the biryani is definitely nice.. no doubts there.. but the green chilly chicken I ordered.. again salty and excessive use of mint.. the chicken in it was rubbery.. so that's my take on the food and my freinds with me felt the same way about the food..

parking.. well lulu parking is always available.. worst days to go are weekends.. and of course I would love to see this restaurant as exclusive and a different section or part as a standalone restaurant rather than this way.. value for money.. well with the food I got served.. I don't think it is.. but yes. if they had made it the way it should be by a top chef and the exclusivity was reflected .. . probably yes.. the money on the menu is fair..

would I go again ??. certianly no for the lulu mall outlet.. but I would definitely give it one more go if it is opened exclusively.. 😊

Wonderful restaurant... Nice ambience... 😍Food is so yummy.... Waiting to come back for food asap..
Very interactive and generous manager..

one of the best north indian restaurant in this city... its perfectly same from Mumbai outlet. the taste is so nice .. especially bhatti ka jheenga and kadak seekh kabab. while having lalla mussa dal i miss my moms food :( so yummy .. love to see you again . the service is good and staffs are very helpful for selecting the dishes
Baiju Meleppura
The Food and the ambience was fine. But beware mosquitos may fall into your plate. If you complain to the Manager he walks aways without having a basic courtesy to say even a sorry. He thinks that there are no other better run restaurants than his. I was there on Sunday March 11th for lunch and this was the service I got from our celebrated Chef's restaurant.
Rithvik Kumar
Awesome food, great service. Butter chicken and dal makhni were sublime. One of the best in Kochi for North Indian food. Definitely worth coming back to over and over again

Tudy we ordr murg anger bedgi. Lallamoosadal nd peshwari nan but your welcome drink was ridiculous as wen i came back home my stomach became upset , i m havn loose motions just because i hd that drink.

yeah I know I haven't given 1* rating to any restaurant but this time I have to because I have been in washroom for last 1hr.i had food from there this evening with my friend.food was good but both of us have been using washroom from last hour.i and my friend didn't had food from outside today. I wrote this review so that the management can notice it and correct there problem.

our expectations were very high as this chain belongs to a celebrity chef sanjeev kapoor but with respect to that the food was not up to the mark. the complimentary chocolate shake was gross and yuck. it was watery and very diluted and we were not even able to finish it. the signature dish dhabe da chicken was also a disaster. only paneer tikka was delicious. everything was highly priced though comparative to bad food. ambience is good.
Vivek Menon
We went to Yellow Chilli on 14th March to celebrate the birthday of my sister and to enjoy a north indian lunch. However this was a disappointing affair.
The service that they provided was good. But nothing much can be said about the ambience as the restaurant is located in the Mall.

Well food was where we were disappointed.
As starters we had ordered Veg Platter and chowrangee chilli chicken. The Veg Platter was unexpectedly very good, the same however could not be said of chowrangee chilli chicken- it was too salty!!! We should have informed the waiter and asked for a replacement, however we did not and let it slide.
As for main course we ordered Fish tikka Masala - Good, Green chilli chicken- Average, Kheema mirch matar- Again too salty!!!!! This time we asked for a replacement, and the replaced dish tasted nice. By this time the whole experience had put us off. We had also ordered Veg pulao in the end, this was ok but rice was not properly cooked.

The price over here is high as compared to other restaurants and thus two bad dishes is certainly unforgivable.

Overall 2/5 stars for a good service and a good Veg Platter. Nothin much can be said about the food here, we will definitely give this a miss the next time out.

Visited on Sunday 4th March 2018.

Waited for sometime to be noticed by a waiter. Finally someone came up to take our order. We gently told him we hadn't got the menu.

Menu arrived. We ordered a tandoori tikka salad, Hara pyaaz murgh, one garlic naan and two rotis.

The salad was excellent. Unfortunately that was the only thing that was excellent. The rotis and naan were rubbery. The murgh consisted of tikkas in an onion gravy in which the taste of raw onions came through. Obviously the pyaaz was delivered kutcha.

As we were paying the bill, we noticed newly arrived people at the next table were served a welcome drink. When we asked why we weren't offered the drink, the reply was "sorry sir, we forgot"!

We learnt the restaurant was part of a chain franchised by the famous chef Sanjiv Kapoor. Unfortunately, Yellow chilly did nothing to enhance the great chef's reputation..
Adorable restaurant in North India located in lulu mall which boasts of being servicing. The food they provide to us is great and delicious in taste and have no complain about the food. The service is so good in this restaurant thats why pepole are attract. The staff behavior is also calm and the experience of staff is so high. Parking zone is also too good.
I really like this place. I recommend you whenever you go in kochi please visit here.

I, along with my entire family, had landed in Kochi on India's Republic day i.e. 26th January 2018 on our way to Thrissur to attend a wedding. To have a feel of Kerala wedding. After enjoying that thoroughly, which included a trip to famous Guruvayyur temple one early morning, we all came back to Kochi to rest for a day before returning to Mumbai. We stayed at Marriott Kochi, a fabulous hotel by any standards. On top of its 25th floor, it has a helipad where they also conduct Yoga classes for special groups. Adjacent to the hotel is Lulu Mall. As grand as is anywhere else in Gulf. We went there for shopping. What we see there on 3rd floor is our all time favorite, The Yellow Chilli restaurant by Sanjeev Kapoor. It was least expected here. Our decision to eat local took a back seat. We settled for this restaurant for our dinner on 28th Jan evening. Four of us.

Met Manager Awadesh and Chef Dharmendra. Got comfortable that it is same chain and same food. This time we wanted to go little crazy in ordering. Started with Desi Manchow Soup. It was steaming hot, right flavours and taste. Enjoyed to hilt. We all love Thai food. Saw the name of Papaya Peanut Kachumber on the menu. Decided to try it. Awadesh encouraged to have it. It was perfect. For the main course, Chef recommended Singhada Aloo Matar; a local dish Urlai Roast Masala and The Yellow Chilli's all time famous Lalla Mussa Dal along with Warqi Paratha and Fried Rice.

Singhada Aloo Matar had crunchiness of water chestnut in your daily preparation of Aloo Matar, a tomato based gravy. Too yummy with Warqi Paratha. Urlai Roast Masala had potatoes again but this time in Chettinad Masala to get local flavour and taste. Again, approved by all four of us. The fried rice was in Chinese hue and Lalla Mussa Dal was as smooth and creamy with heavenly taste as is always. To tell you the fact we didn't mix the both. Had it separately. We intended so. To enjoy the taste in its totality. The idea was good and worked.

Dessert was Awadesh's choice. Since we went other cuisines this time than pure Indian, the dessert too was different. Brownie with vanilla ice cream. Sounds simple and old fashioned. But beware, any one can go wrong with this. At The Yellow Chilli that evening it was perfect. One of the best we had. Soft, moist, warm brownie with perfect vanilla ice cream. Must have outsourced, but no complaints and full marks.

We thanked Awadesh, Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kapoor for this yummy meal in Kochi. Would like to recommend to all.

I had ordered desi manchow soup, chicken biriyani, tomato cheese nan, murgh taka yak and Gulab jamun.
Well the soup was yum and the mushroom starter was beyond words.

Gulab jamun was fantastic and is a must try.
Ambience was lovely and the service is great.

this is a wonderful place with new new dishes you gotta try.
