Review Kadaloram Restaurant, Abad Plaza - Ernakulam

Suresh Lax (SLK)
This review is for the restaurant only, a Mixed experience for sure! The wait staff, service and food quality was as expected and good. The ambiance is clean and functional with a direct view of MG road and the metro trains whizzing by, make it an interesting experience. We had ordered wheat parrotas, ginger chicken and prawns. However I have to point out that ordering wheat parottas and getting served half order as regular and half as wheat, was downright not ok. Hope this is rectified and such mess up of orders is not overlooked. I did check again on the parrotas only to be insisted upon that it was wheat! Some room for improvement.

Its a place for pure keral food buffet. It was the first place I chose to eat lunch on my Kochi trip. Its not a very huge buffet but the variety is good. Curd rice, banana chips were really yummy. One should visit to try authentic keral food.

They aim for something different with their buffet, which usually is standardized elsewhere, and this may not be to everybody's liking. Some of the stuff was good while others were OK. They had live music on the night we were there.

Pleasant, cheap and good 475 INR inclusive of tax Good and quality buffet spread Good enough for anyone and great quality I have been here 2 yrs before. Now they stopped kadaloram and brought me to the next restaurant besides kadaloram. The food at kadaloram was average but this one is superb Ohh, they have live band which starts at 8pm+ for dinner. But they need to have a better track singer. They need improvement here

Pretty good ambience. Great buffet. Good view of the Metro. Quiet enough for a personal meeting, but can accomodate large teams if you call head and reserve

Been coming here for the buffet lunch since I was 12. We always made sure to grab lunch from kadaloram if at kochi. The buffet Lunch is a perfect blend of the Kerala food and never dissapoints. The desserts are also always on point.

The lunch buffet at kadaloram is an attractive one.The spread is quite appealing and basically involves the Nadan menu which we all love. The food too is tasty and mouth watering.

Being located on MG road it was easy to locate. They have space for parking. However, the lunch buffet was very mediocre and consisted of typical keralite food like kappa, 2 types of fish curry, chicken roast, sambar, avial, rasam, theeyal, 2 types of plain rice, naan, payasam, orange souffle and ice cream. The spread was very basic and not worth 500 rs per person. They also have an option for orderin karimeen and prawn varities in addition to the buffet items for additional charges.

Searching entire MG Road for dinner and same across this restaurant. Went in with few other friends to try our luck. Place is very decent but empty like every other hotel on this road. Service is superb. Ordered Kerala Parota and local preparation of potato curry. Taste of the dish is very good. Friends ordered chicken biryani which they liked but it is not a real biriyani. It is more like a pulao. Overall good experience which was way beyond the expectation.

Food - 3.5/5
Ambience & service - 3/5
Value for money 3/5

Really good Kerala food. Tried the buffet and the spread wasn't too lavish but very tasty. Mainly Kerala dishes with tapioca, chicken and fish curries. The fish curry was the best I have had in kochi. The veg items were also good. The desserts section had 3 items and maybe can include fruits too. Overall worth the price ₹350 and must-have if you craving Kerala food.

This place is the Ala carte restaurant at ABAD plaza right opposite their buffet restaurant. We had a variety of dishes at our table- grilled tiger prawns for Mom in-law, Malabar paratha with prawn masala for my hubby, chicken breast in mushroom sauce sizzler for me, chicken fried rice for my brother in-law. All dishes were well made and the portions were generous too. The ambience is warm with yellow light and brown furniture with fishing equipment displayed as artefacts it offers Kerala, Chinese and continental food- there's something for everyone. Staff is cordial. All in all, it's a nice, amiable corner in the busy street of MG road to retire to after an exhausting shopping spree. Their quality of food remains consistent over the years. Though some more options in menu will be splendid.

We have always been going to Regency whenever we go to Abad but this time we decided to change the choice and go to the Kodaloram. But frankly did not find it exciting at all.
The waiting staff and the manager were more inclined we going for regency rather than Kodaloram, Not sure why.
we had to literally convince him that we want to go for A La Carte against his wishes of we going for buffet.

Food: 2/5 - after ordering the food and tasting i realized why he wanted us to go for buffet. whatever we wanted to order was not available and only things that was available we realized are the ones available in the buffet. anyways the food was fine but the experience left a bitter taste due to which could not enjoy the food like I generally do. Fish was something as usual awesome.

Ambiance: 4/5 - Dim lighting and calm ambiance which is what had attracted me to go there.

Service: Really sad to see that such a good place going down like this. only one waiter and one manager for the entire restaurant. and the poor manager had to clean the tables and remove the plates. this place has really got understaffed, I will not rate the service here as the two people who were there did their level best to serve and cater to everything but it was very evident that they were overworked and the management really needs to look at that. for the two people i will give 5/5 and for the service by management i will give 1/5

Overall: Would suggest regency rather than @Kodaloram.

Average food and average ambience... We went for the Saturday afternoon buffet... The spread was mediocre ... And moreover...the dishes got over and was not refilled promptly... You had to complain to the staff to get it refilled
Bad service

We were three of us, extremely famished after a long day of work...new in the city so we planned to stick to the safe choice of being in the hotel we were staying me for dinner...without realizing what are we getting into...decent spread but there wasn't even one thing which any one of is liked...at last 1 of my friend had curd and rice, the other had fruits and I had plain rice with lil bit of dal...all the dishes tasted like leftovers...really a bad experience...

The cheapest buffet dinner in the heart of the city as compared to others. The others are priced above 500 and this one is below that benchmark. The spread is quite sufficient with a range of seafood and meat that is as expected for the price. Service is good but nothing great and if you are lucky you get a seat overlooking MG Road at night, which is priceless.
