Malaya is a famous name for Chinese cuisine and I love their food ever since my father took me for a dinner some 40 years ago..!! Now there are many Chinese restaurants, but the name “Malaya” will always have a Nostalgic taste and ambience. Thanks to the management of Malaya who have determined to maintain a legacy.

Good Chinese restaurant in palarivattom. They have a lot of Chinese delicacies on their menu from chicken dishes to rice & noodles. I had their American chopseuy, which was tasty and was more than enough for a single person. The staff was cordial and friendly, and prices even though a little high, seem worth for the quantity they give. Overall a good place for lunch or dinner if you like Chinese.

I think this is without doubt one of the best places to grab some Chinese food. The restaurant has an extensive menu of Chinese items. Ample seating available but single floor. Food is tasty. Staff is courteous. We had lemon tea, chicken liver fry(little sweet), mixed fried rice and Schezwan chicken (quite spicy). car Parking is available. Washrooms are clean and maintained.

The whole experience from start to finish is great waiter is always so friendly and kind. Quality & quantity 💯.worth the price💥👌 Food was very tasty. And impressed with quantity of food they are providing. Area is clean, good looking and spacious. Staff were kind. Menu contains mostly all kind of non veg dishes. Has separate parking space

Excellently revamped Malaya. They have upgraded to this new location and serve piping hot indo Chinese.. compared to the previous Malaya experience this time, it was very positive. Fried rice and Cantonese were both really good. The price is at par with standards. The portion size is still the best thing about Malaya ! You can definitely hit here, for a new experience.

A decent Chinese restaurant in the town. We ordered Chilly pork ,Roast beef with capsicum and Mixed Fried rice (Chicken ,Pork and Egg) Chilly pork was Below Average. Roast beef was Above Average. Mixed fried rice was Average. Service and ambience is good. A nice place for couples as well as families. Very good quantity. Order carefully. A lot of parking space.
Subin Oommen
The food tasted ok. The quantity is really good and would suffice two people mostly. The restaurant was clean. They have plenty of parking facility.
Alif Muhammed
The ambience was quite nice. We can reserve tables. Most of the customers were upper middle class and premium ones. The food was good. Don't go with Schezwan. Better to opt normal fried rice and noodles, especially chicken and prawns. Quantity and quality is better. Garlic and ginger chillies were superb

"Malaya Restaurant is a culinary gem! Their authentic Chinese cuisine is a taste bud delight. From fragrant curries to savory noodles, every dish is a flavorful journey. Impeccable service and inviting ambiance make it my top choice for dining."

We went to this place to relive dad's teenage memories of the old Malaya hotel opposite St. Albert's College in the 80s. He felt the taste kept up with the old restaurant inspite of change in management (old Malaya hotel was run by two brothers of ? Chinese decent).

One of the best Chinese foods you will ever get in Kochi. While Chopstix offers an insight into Thai food, Malaya is pure Chinese, where their Noodles and Fried Rice is one of the best that I have ever tasted. Chilly Pork is an absolute delicacy, with Chilly Chicken and Dragon Chicken serving as excellent contenders. Malaya is without a doubt one of the best Chinese restaurants that is tasty and affordable. P.S : Better to come in a group of 2 rather than dining alone because each dish, however small portion it might be, contains quantity for 2.

Felt reasonable.Good ambience.Spacious.Parking facility available. The quantity and quality was convincing. We ordered Schezwan chicken fried rice(half)and chilly chicken (half). The lemon tea was served according to our preference which won my heart. Overall good experience. Will surely visit again.

Visiting the Malaya Restaurant at their new location at the Palarivattom Junction for the first time. Earlier they were located at the highway bang opposite the Ernakulam Medical Centre. We ordered sweetcorn chicken soup, mixed fried rice, mixed noodles, Pork with vegetables, Beef with capsicum, and Dragon chicken. Except for the Noodles, everything was good. The Noodles weren't that tasty, but ok. They have a decent parking space. Delivered food without much delay. Overall happy with the food and service. We were a group of 10 people and the bill came in the range of Rs. 2400 which is reasonable. If you are an Indo-Chinese food lover, then swing by.
Nanda
The chicken was over fried with no flavor. Paneer was very hard. Looks like frozen paneer. Food could be better.
Rajnish Bharti
The food was 300 rupees and tasted like 50rs.

Let's go through some Chinese style of drools!🥰. Being a big fan of Chinese cuisines, any related restaurants if I see will only attract me towards it. Love the saucy flavours from the Chinese dishes and if it is from a pretty cool restaurant, I ll be the happiest kid ever😋. Last day tried the Mixed Fried rice, Roast Beef with Chilli and Capsicums and Chicken Noodles from New Malaya Restaurant, Palarivattom, Bypass. Everything was too good, especially the beef was so tender and juicy, yea gravy was 😍.

Pathetic food and service!! Such a total disaster MALAYA !!
Reeba Ignatious
Overall a good experience.four of the five items ordered was good only scheszwan fried rice was a bit spoil sport , it did not taste good at all.dragon chicken is a must try.would recommend this place
Hhh
Pathetic food quality, pathetic service and everything about Malaya is pathetic. I don't know why does this restaurant act as if its the only outlet that offers Chinese food. Not only our complaints are barely getting any attention but we had to endure cheeky attitude from the managment. I wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone.

Good place to have Chinese cuisine. Little pricey but fills 2 with the portion they serve. Service is good and food taste is good as well. A must visit place if in kochi.
Arvind
Asked for American chop suey, without vegetables, ended up getting some nonsense which only had vegetables and an omelette on top, sent it back to the kitchen and again they brought out the same thing. Service is bad, the fruit juice was spoilt. Waiters were blaming each other for poor service.
Reshma
A great place to visit if u r a chineese food lover... Great quantity of food... American choupsey was good.. Fried rice, noodles, dragon chicken, everything was yumm... They have a small menu of juices but thats not a problem... They are famous for the chineese foods which have never failed to meet my expectations...
Sij
Quite decent.
The ambiance and staff might make you think about your choice once you enter but the food makes up for it.
Pretty good Indian Chinese compared to their competition. Much less Indianised and masalized compared to other restaurants at their level.
Christy Ann Mathews
Yummy food and with so much of quantity. They would totally parcel your item if you can't have it all in one go(Love that about them as I hate wasting food). I loved the schezwan noodles more than anything here.Pretty fast when it comes to recieving and providing the orders.
Nandana Santhosh
Me and my family have been eating from here since i can remember. In my 21yrs of existence i have never had a place who serves chineese better than them.I always give them First Preference when it comes to chineese.I love their fried rice. The mixed fried is worth dying for. Both quantity and quality wise.Their chilly pork is my another personal favourite. The malaya fried rice is that fried rice by which i rank others. The Only negative i could point out is the ever increasing price over the years with accompanying tax and packaging charges.Delivery is quick and clean
Mohamed Shafi PM
One of the best chinese restaurants in kochi serving delicious Boneless Chilli Chicken & Chicken Fried Rice. Must try their Sweet Corn Crab Soup as well.

This restaurant has withstood the test of time and is a must visit for Chinese food!!!

The chillychicken tasted like it was cooked a couple of days back. I don't know if you deliver old food from freezer when ordering online, but please deliver fresh food from now on.

Ordered the chilly pork from malaya. It was good but there was way too much fat and less meat. Please add more pork meat next time. .........

Ordered half American Chopsuey. The noodles and sauces were packed separately and I had to prepare it by boiling and stirring. The taste was good and the quantity was enough for two people.

A much better service from Malaya. LOVED chicken Manchurian and and fried rice was also good.
Tessy Greenal
perfect delivery and service
Sreedhar.anoop
food is good, too much quantity for single person
Suggi Ramkumar
Order not done as requested. Delivery person was asked not to enter the residency premises. He still did. Soup so bland
Gopika Sarva
The crab soup with scrambled eggs was yum. The chicken prawns fried rice was good too. But I felt some particles... maybe remnants of burnt food from wok.
Deepthi Sreenath
The quantity is good. The quality is bad sometimes. The fried rice is usually dry. Noodles is good. If the quality is good, then the chilly pork and chicken are the best. Rates are not high when compared to the quantity. Nothing great about the ambience. Service is ok. Better for take out than dine in.
Christie Joseph
Very disappointed in the quality of the dish. Felt like it was turning bad even though it was hot.
Ann Davis
The chopsuey was very salty
Jais Jacob
i had ordered beef roast with green chilly and capsicum and pork roast with green chilly and capsicum..but you people delivered chilly pork and chilly beef...You could have categorised this under chilly beef and chilly pork..I was specifically searching for pork and beef with masala flavour...You people ruined our dinner....,,
Vishnu Hari
average taste but quantity is much more than expected
Reshma Mathew
I ordered a chicken prawns mixed fried noodles, chicken noodles and a dry dragon chicken online.
delivery sharp., I think they took less time than they asked for.
Food quality and taste- Really good.
but food packaging was really poor.
Jude Joy
The location and ambiance is great. But the food quality and taste was not up to the level we expected. We ordered shezwan Gobi, dragon chicken, fried rice and noodles. The taste was just average, except for gobi..... it was a real disaster. It tasted like raw gobi florets in some sauce....dint taste spicy neither sour.... we ordered a full dish, ended up having only half of it.
Arun M
This was my second time at restaurant, they improved a lot in food quality and quantity too 😁but the service has to be improved.. Do not let customers to wait for long time 😐
Vijeesh Panakkal
An average place to have Chinese
The entrance and ambience and all is abit dark but the food taste took the negative location points up
Nice Chinese food
Horrible food. No where near the Malaya Kochites used to love once. It’s a shame they are serving such tasteless food. I am sure there are much better restaurants who now serves indo Chinese cuisine here in ernakulam.

New Malaya chinese restaurant! Its the best spot if you wanna have a perfect chinese meal! Especially at evenings, night, They have perfect chinese ambience! perfect food! Especially the rice! Chicken fried rice, too good! the chilly chicken! its the best! And you should really try their tea after the meal! i recommend the lemon tea! costs only 20 /-
perfect for family , while outing with friends !
definitely give it a try!

‘Bang for the Buck!’ That’s what Malaya is all about. Tried the Pork dish they had with some normal Stir Fried Chicken Noodles and also some Chilli Beef. The quantity is very much sufficient for two. The dishes are a tad bit salty but that’s manageable. Not much of parking space is available over there though. The pricing is the real deal though. As I’m a student, I had a a really good meal for whatever budget I was on. #BangForTheBuck deal 👍🏻
Sebin Varghese
Cheap chinese food in terms of quality and quantity. Almost all dishes taste similar, average sevice and poor ambience, you have lotta options in the city if u prefer chinese.
Ganesh Krishnan
Malaya restaurant was once the destination for all Chinese food lovers in cochin which was near the st. Alberts college. The new Malaya restaurant at Kaloor kadavantara road serves Chinese food which can be rated the very worst. Very little vegetarian option and irresponsible service. Ordered for vegetarian chopsuey and was served chicken chopsuey. No regrets or apologies from the staff there. The food was not palatable. Very disheartening experience.
NJ Kitchen
Had always been a fan of their mixed fried rice and Chilly pork. Ambience is not all that great. The restaurant is always stuffy and dark. But yes a good place to curb the occasional craving of mixed fried rice and Chilly pork
Deepa Antony
There is nothing like Chinese cuisine done right. Full points for the ambience with amble lighting and the Chinese decor not overdone. Food tasted adequately well with the fried rice plesently spiced and mildly oiled, albeit the boneless chicken pieces heavily soaked in thick batter. The best thing about them is the portion size. They've mentioned the portion size and they gladly serve half n full portions of a dish clearly mentioning how many people they intend it for. Very cleaver! Full points for that!
Sidharth C.R
An incredibly value for money indo Chinese restaurant with good service and a good ambience to favor. Easy to order easy on the plate and very good for families and hungry lots. This place has been around since my childhood and I pretty much go there for all my Chinese food needs.

My favourite place for the last 8 years. It's really worth. Chilly pork, mixed fried rice and Sweet corn Chicken soup are my favorites. Anyone who wish to hold a party for friends can definitely visit this place. It's really worth the money u pay..

In one word average...
Service: Good.
Ambience: Decent. Air conditioned for the hot humid Kochi climate..
Food..: Nothing to talk about. Ordered chicken and mushroom soup, mixed noodles , pork chilly, chinese chopsuey, .. All just edible. The portion sizes were huge though. Always go for the half quantity only. So either we chose all the wrong dishes or it was our unlucky day but unfortunately nothing to remember or go back to.
Sujith Krishna Shenoy
Really disappointed with the food and service. The waiter was not at all interested to let us know what a particular item was all about and we ended up having a Non-veg item which we do not eat. Food quantity was enormous, lacked flavour but excess oil. Have been to lots of other Chinese restaurants and we have not experienced something like this before.

Have heard a lot of positive review about this place and maybe our day was bad.
Vineeth
Perfect ambience. Good for family variety of foods . Pork is tasty .. don't goo for prawns it is actualy the one with less spices, the fishy smell can be felt.
Vishnu Kumar
Nice place to try if your looking for a decent Chinese restaurant at affordable pricing with great quantity !The service is also good, however the ambience of the place can be improved...
Rahul
Msg!Msg! This place is dripping in ajinonmoto
Food is tasty though, but after having food from here, the effects of msg really make you sick.
Vivek Vinod
Ok restaurant only!!!

First of all they have only limited parking for 2-4 cars or you have to park on the service road of the NH and walk.

Inside the ambience certainly falls behind other Chinese joints in kochi. They have to renovate.

About food,

To start, When i was about to order starters and soup they said, which ever starters you order will take 30-40 mins minimum.

So i ordered one hot and sour soup and direct main course - chilly paneer and vegetable fried rice.

About the soup , fried rice and paneer, it was ok only!!!

Quantity of food is great compared to prices.

Compared to other restaurant chains in kochi the cost is on the higher side.

Per person for a vegetarian it came around 450 without any desert and starters, so not to mention the non veg rates.
Harijith Rajasen
Its one among the few good Chinese restaurants here in Kochi. Their pricing is very good. The quantity and quality of the food is good as well. The place has adequate parking space too. They have tried to create a good Chinese theme with RED color and hanging lights.
Maya
I ordered chickn lollipop from this restaurant.the batter which they made lollipop was sour in taste. I complained abt this to cashier.the attitude of cashier was not satisfactory.he told malaya serves 'sour chicken lollipops '.it is Not advisable to order starters like chicken lollipops n food stuffs containing prawns from this restaurant.
Madri Prasad
Its easy to find a chinese restaurant these days in cochin because every other restaurant serves chinese dishes. There are very few places that serve chinese in a way you want to go back to taste. So here's malaya. We keep going back to eat the chilli pork n chicken. Whats amazing is that they have a half plate n full plate option. They seemed to have revamped the place so the ambience sure looks inviting. Noodles, fried rice n the chilli pork/chicken is a must try. Also try their mixed rice for a change. Head to malaya for a good enough chinese experience. The place must be something since we go at least once a month. Large group n family friendly. A meal for two would cost about 500 to 600 rs.
Melvin Prathipal
Horrible experience! Thought I'd try a different restaurant after craving for some good Chinese delicacy. I ordered a chicken manchurian and a chicken fried rice. Bunch of chicken pieces drenched in black soya sauce and some gelatin to make it thick, absolutely no other flavour. The chicken fried rice had a bit of prawn taste to it (happens when the men in the kitchen are lazy to clean utensils)
Ashiq G Abraham
For Chinese food lovers...this is a great place with good varieties and the rates are surprisingly cheap. The quality and the quantity is amazing. One full dish can serve up-to 3 people which is actually a lot. They have taken the previous reviews into consideration and renovated the place.
Happy fooding...
Kevin Robin
This is a wonderful little place near vennala. Good Chinese food. The prawn and pork noodles was brilliant as was the crispy prawns. The hot and sour chicken soup was bad either! Did I add that it's very reasonably priced? I had all of the above for 300 bucks.
Rakshith Prabhu
One of the best and cheap chinese restaurants in Kochi..They have renovated the restaurant and the overall ambience is good...The quantity of dish is large and one portion of the dish will b sufficient for 2 people...
Chandrakant Parikh
The standards are really pathetic now. It seems like the management doesn't really care, given the shortage of decent Chinese restaurants in the city, other than Mainland. There is such a variation in the food they serve. Sometimes it smells fragrant, sometimes like rotten eggs. You never know what to expect.
Nicholas N Anathanam
Visited the place after the recommendation from my dad and I was satisfied indeed. When the food arrived, it certainly looked like a Man v/s Food challenge! Yes! The quantity is enormous! And after putting a good fight at last, Man won! Yah! The place serves enormously huge quantity! Ate Mixed Fried Rice and Pork Manchurian. Mixed Fried Rice is of Chicken and Pork. The Fried Rice was good but found the Manchurian too saucy! Pork Manchurian was whole lot of sauce in a plate! Rather I wished I ate a different side dish! Overall it is a good restaurant with a good Chinese ambience to the place!
Brahat Eshwar
Malaya is an awesome Chinese restaurant!
Tasty! Enormous quantity of food!
Chilly prawns, scezhwan noodles and fried rice and smashed chicken soup are the unmissables!! Awesome!
Bhavya Venugopal
One of the older restaurants in Cochin, quite well known among Chinese-food lovers. The food is quite good, the portions plentiful and worth what you pay. The only negative is the ambiance and hygiene - it looks a little dingy, dark and congested and is too cold at times; also, the glasses and plates look dirty sometimes. The thing I love best is that unlike most Chinese restaurants in the city, New Malaya serves properly cooked rice. I love the hot and sour chicken, ginger chicken, veg fried rice, the soups and also the noodles.

Food - 4/5
Ambiance - 2/5
Service - 3/5
Hygiene - 3/5
Steffi George
Malaya is a very old hotel and looks a little run down. They serve very large quantities of food, which is a huge plus among Chinese restaurants. But the place is not spacious and somehow lacks hygiene I feel. Must renovate to get more customers.
George Peter
They have great spring rolls. Have come here a few times after they moved to Vennala. Pork noodles and chicken noodles are both very similar but both r tasty. We also ordered pork chilli and chilly chicken both dry. I was very impressed as the food was very tasty. They didn't have delivery but we took away food from the place. Food was ready in around 15 mins max which was extremely wuick and kept the food ready by the time we reached. Overall I prefer malaya over golden dragon. Interiors were well done too. Pricing wasn't cheap. Not overly expensive either and was average.
