Review Absolute Demazong - Gangtok

somnath jana
We went there to try authentic nepali alcoholic brew "Tongba" and it was different, strong and delicious, must try thing. We tried pork sekua, pork chilli, veg wonton soup, golden fried baby corn and chicken choila. Pork chilli was delicious, Sekua was decent, baby corn was bad, wonton was average, choila was not choila.. food was average. The place is decorated nicely with a projector screen but it was empty strangely. We were the only people for three hours. Price was ok, service was decent. It is located at the second floor, the stair is little shady

One of my favourite place to dine & drink. Great place to try karaoke. You can also get a grand view of Gangtok from here.

All though the place seems empty unless there is a live sports match, but the food is decent. The place serves traditional local wine, which is more of a cultural thing I guess. That's the main attraction. But make sure not to try Biriyani over here. Stick to local food in this place.

Perfect place to meet with friends or just to hang around and read a book. The best millet drink in the town and superb kitchen

This place is awesome. My entire week in Sikkim was highlighted with this place. Good price if you are from any metro. Authentic Sikkim food. Tungba was very good. Every other dish was awesome. May be they should market this place better. Really to die for. The ambiance and service was very good. Great decor , great music. Service from Abhishek was very good. Really nothing to complain. Best place.

This is Gangtok's best kept secret. The Absolute Demazong is like a hidden paradise that you may miss even when you pass it by. This is the only place where you can find authentic Sikkimese, Nepali, Bhutanese food and drink. Definitely the only place where you can have the Tongba, or the millet beer served in traditional style. The variety and quality of food is something that you will never experience anywhere else in Gangtok. I'm biased towards pork and would recommend most of the pork dishes, especially the sekuwa (roasted meat). Go ahead and try the tremendous diversity of tastes here, and experience a food nirvana. The ambience and service too is absolute top class. Not just Gangtok, but this is one of the best places anywhere in the northeast.

Why did you come to Gangtok? To eat Sikkimese of course. This is the place to have the traditional dinner complete with chaang (hot fermented millet beer). Staff is friendly and helpful. Get the set menu for traditional Sikkimese curries, veggies, and nettle soup which is much better than it sounds. It's in the hungry jack building, one street lower than MG Marg. They have a full bar and a multicusine menu as well. Remember, when in Gangtok, you have to try the local food. This is the place to go!

Awesome service by Shika, awesome views of the Himalayas, and delicious food !

This is a hidden gem. Located in an unimpressive building, the restaurant is spacious and elegant and serves some many distinctive Sikkimeese dishes that are otherwise difficult to find commercially.

MUST VISIT!

A friend recommended me this place told me to have the millet beer. It's called Sochang and is a specialty here. The drink is originated in Nepal and is served to the guest in arrival.
The way this drink comes will surprise you and is not anything you would have seen before.
MUST HAVE.

2 folks can easily share one.

For food we ordered honey crispy chilly chicken which was mesmerising. Since we were hopping places so just ordered this.

The resteraunt is 5 mins walk down from mg road towards the taxi stand. The board is not clear at night but google location is correct.

Enjoy the Sochang.

I have reviewed more outlets, bakeries for mg road during my recent visit. Please review them.

Thanks.
