Review Amaranta - Gurugram (Gurgaon)

Anish Arora
Amaranta is one of those fantasic restaurants in the city no one actively talks about, but we all know it's waiting for us with a menu full of scrumptious offerings, prepared with care, love and obsession - the three attributes one has come to expect (and appreciate) of The Oberoi Group of Hotels. We went there for lunch on Sunday, and were greeted with a warm, COVID Protocol compliant welcome. All the servers were wearing face shields, masks and gloves. We were handed envelopes to store our masks safely - a gesture I absolutely love. We were short on time so ordered the main course only - their version of Butter Chicken, which is four types of chicken served with the gravy on the side, and a Lamb Biryani, which was prepared South Indian (but not Hyderabadi) style. Before our order was served, we were treated with a bread basket featuring Amaranta's take on a Focaccia, Soft Bun and Pasty Puff, served with Gunpowder, Curry Leaf Powder and Olive Oil. The breads were truly impressive - fresh and flavourful. An excellent start to the afternoon. The Butter Chicken (or Dilli as they call it here) served at Amaranta is one of my absolute favourite foods. It's always on point, the smoked Chicken, the Chicken Kofta, the popcorn chicken and the chicken strips come together with their fresh, rich gravy to offer, what I believe, is amongst the best standalone Indian dishes in the country. I say that after obsessing over Butter Chicken across my travels across India for about a decade. This is a must order, every time. The Lamb Briyani featured a lovely medly of flavours, with well cooked lamb and was served with a lovely mixed raita. Standalone, the Biryani was packed with flavours which will take you to a Chef's table somewhere between Chennai and Cochin, that's how my limited palette decoded it at least. When I mentioned obsession previously, I wasn't only referring to the what goes on in the kitchen. I absolutely loved how the server took their time to serve my Beer on the table. Most servers across establishments pour as much beer as they can into the glass, and walk away. Not here. The server pour the beer slowly, reducing the flow from the bottle to the glass basis the height of the froth, till the pint was empty. It's a very small detail but a good showcase of the obsession towards a great experience. While I am yet to savour their seafood delicacies and a bunch of other bits from the menu in this lifetime, I can safely conclude saying that Amaranta is one of the best dining experiences in and around the capital. A must visit!

A wonderful place for a date night or a dinner with your family. From the bread basket to papadum to the amuse bouche before and during the meal, you are going to love the flavors and inventiveness of the dishes. Try any of the seafood dishes, and the andhra dal with apams. The service is absolutely amazing, with the staff happy to go the extra mile.

Magical place - amazing food and service - we enjoyed a six course signature meal called 'Power Play': wonderful tastes, fusion India and Western, chess themed narratives

If you like Indian cuisine, this is a must go. This review is from a western tourist perspective but as far as I can tell it was outstanding. We loved the food and service which was also exceptional. Manoj was really nice and also the other service team in the hotel. We went twice, for dinner and lunch. And tried North Indian as well as South Indian, it was exceptional. Can fully recommend the lunch menu which was also a great value for luxury Indian cuisine. We went again for dinner and also Lunch, Mrs Arshiya was outstanding :). Thank you!

Oberoi as the name suggests has the right service and deliveries. As you step into the hotel, the staff makes you feel special. The food at the restaurant was splendid and so was the service.

First visit to Amaranta and it was totally worth it. The flavours are excellent and stands out for the most of the items we tried . The tomato and mango soup was tangy and slightly spicy at the same time. The pumpkin cappuccino soup with coconut was different. In starters Galawat(jackfruit and raw banana) based kebabs were finger licking good. The murgh tikka was perfectly smoked and cooked. For main course ordered Punjab(veg), Dilli(non veg) and Amaranta special chicken and we liked the taste of each one of them. Each being an extension of popular dishes but just done differently. Come desserts and here we went for the slowly baked chocolate cake and fruit jalebi with rabri. And again we were not disappointed. The fruit jalebi is unique and rabri was adequately sweet. The chocolate cake should be a delight for chocolate lovers. Overall a great dinner experience for us. definitely recommended. Not to forget the staff is great and courteous.

Chef absolutely one of the top in the world. Hands down the best Indian meal I ever had, but in the top 20 ever meals I'd say. Front of house was a bit chaotic tho. Overall A+

Great tasting menu with dishes from various parts of India. They also serve a platter of variety of breads, pickles and spice powders while you wait for the food. The ambience and hospitality is phenomenal as you'd expect from all of Oberoi hotel. I tried the veg Punjabi platter. The food arrived after some wait but tasted really good. The mango Lassi was awesome as well. Everything is made fresh to order so you can really taste the ingredients. It is like a party in your mouth.

Very well cooked modern Indian fine dining. Service was exceptional as expected from Oberoi. The restaurant unfortunately was completely empty. This kind of affected the overall ambience, wish there were more people around. The chef is clearly trying to ride the regional Indian food revival bandwagon. But he does not disappoint. The butter chicken, which I ordered quite apprehensively, turned out be an all star. One of the best butter chickens I have ever eaten. The breads are paired with aromatic dry spice mixes and evoo. A standout concept. The galouti was decent. The prawn was well-cooked but I found it a little too European in taste for an Indian restaurant. Two things that I found pretty terrible were the tamarind gelato and the bacon egg appam. Overall its a great fine dining option in Delhi.

Amaranta is one of the four restaurants of Oberoi hotel, where they focus on Indian cuisine. Ambience was super premium, service was average, cutlery was super premium, starters were average, signature drink was below average, but desserts were awesome. Highly recommended for fruit jalebi and plush ambience only.

Food was very good ....ambience was a little loud for me because of soft music in background ....each dish they served had a story behind it and that made it pretty interesting

Few days ago, I went to this beautiful place in Oberoi. The ambiance of Oberoi is one of the finest in Gurgaon. Huge buildings, outside view of swimming pool and such a fine decor all over the place. Amaranta is more of cultural side, when you visit the place, you know you get those vibes. The place, no doubt had a pretty good seating space. The food is definitely good, but when it comes the price, damn, its really not worth of it.<br/><br/>I had their classic mocktail juice which was really bad in taste. Although, I did like their Galauti Kebab and Malai mushroom. But in dessert side, illusion, a dish, is really bad. However I loved their staff service. Overall, I had a fine experience here.

The atmosphere is warm and respectful, the individuals of the staff are really friendly, and the spot is very peaceful. It was also accompanied by steamed veggies and an amazing vegetable dahl. Similarly, the meat uttapam was ordered, which accompanied three flapjacks and wound up being a lot of food.

It likewise accompanied steamed veggies and a vegetable dahl, which was astounding. Likewise requested the meat uttapam, which accompanied three flapjacks and wound up being a ton of food.Overall it was an incredible encounter and not something to be missed on the off chance that you are in Gurgaon.

The Oberoi Gurgaon itself is an excellent lodging, with a colossal focal pool and this eatery is one of its sort. This spot offers astonishing sustenance. Feel is good. For lunch I requested from the set menu, which accompanied a fiery tomato soup, the dish and a treat. The fiery soup was only the perfect measure of hot and turned out steaming. They additionally brought over a choice of bread that was extremely pleasant to dunk in the soup.

It's a class having dinner in amaranta. <br/>Great hospitality by Mr. Anuj . We started with appetisers to main course followed by dessert , we felt the flavours and spices were well blended yet distinctive. <br/><br/>Perfect place to enjoy Indian cuisine.

Must try- king oyster/morel/truffle mushrooms! Amazing staff- discretely approaching your table, always at service, describing the dishes in passionate way. Ambience and music at a very high level. Amaranta is definitely a place for a classy and elegant dinner.

This ones a food affair with Indian cuisine!!<br/><br/>For any one who is a foodie and just loves his Indian food but likes some twists and flavours that can be mixed to give his taste buds a foodie sensation then this is just the place <br/>I first thought that it was just well known to serve sea food and that from the east, but was totally taken aback!<br/>Being part of the Oberoi Group this one surely has the warmth and the personal touch but the servers really take good care of you while you’re here and the good part is that since all the food here is pretty much haute cuisine they take all effort to tell you the story of the food <br/>Since I was hungry and also had some time tried the preset menu which is just a total treat!<br/>Starting out with a Hyderabadi barkat Kumar Chaat that’s served with burtatta cheese, the next dish is one that’s for the mushroom lovers as they have over 4 types of mushroom along with the king oyster mushroom <br/>If you think that you don’t like jack fruit, think again as the Patties that they make from them are truly amazing <br/>A Bombay bustle starter with the typical Maharashtra kothambir wadi spiced up with green pea chutney and smoked aubergine was one of my favourites <br/>They then give you coconut rice along with okra that’s a good combination but if you’re the typical North Indian then opt for the The Punjab as the name is called and it’s got the most amazing cheese kulcha with a lotus root vegetable all tossed up with jalapeños and more <br/>And if you like the chick peas then try the Thar that you’ll love <br/>What’s super is the sorbet between your meal, an amazing end with a sweet tooth called happiness that’s a chef special of beet root and fig filo with KERALA vanilla ice cream!<br/>If I could give 7 stars I would and it’s surely better than any minchelin star Resturant that you may have eaten globally <br/>It’s the chef Aman who is truly fab and literally comes out after each dish to get your feedback and it surely feels nice eating in the gold cutlery which stands out too!<br/>Please indulge, it’s very worth it!

A great place to be at to celebrate one's birthday! We were dined in by a friend of ours and I must say, we will remember this evening for a long time to come! We had pre-decided gold gilded menu cards at our seats with a well laid out table. After a very long time, did I get to see a table arrangement keeping an excellent variation of cutlery and glasses on the table. As for the personalization , the chef would come and explian every course to us. What a special feeling we were all left with at the Amaranta! Thank you

Beyond doubt, this is one of the best joints to have a good meal and be surprised. The service has always been friendly and prompt. And they do change their menu every now and then.

Dining should be a immersive experience and not limited to just the sense of taste!!!<br/>Amaranta was an experience that would fit the description of delighting all your senses. The time we walked in, the ambience, the staff, the presentation of the food and last but by no means the least, the food. It was a sublime experience. Truly delighted by the Oberoi hospitality.<br/>A first of many visits to come.<br/>PS - A special thanks to Chef Aman for giving us a second helping of the divide Fruit Jalebi...<br/>Keep rocking guys.

Amaranta is an Indian Coastal food specialty restaurant that serves food with traditional flavours that are presented in contemporary style. The coastal grill and curry buffet that we went for, had food from 9 coastal states of India including Kerala, Goa, Bengal, Andhra & Tamil Nadu,. <br/><br/>The overall experience at this place was splendid - starting from the entance to the Oberoi where the security person was waving his hands to guide our car exactly like aeroplanes are shown the parking space.
Karan
The experience is quite enjoyable - with the continuous service of the multiple course meal. Each item on the menu is quite different from the normal Delhi food and each one is enjoyable. I and my wife are vegetarians, but there was no lack of variety in the dishes. <br/><br/>The Oberoi Gurgaon itself is a very beautiful hotel, with a gigantic central pool and this restaurant is one of its kind. A Sunday afternoon well spent - Put the Sunday Brunch here on your bucket list. Of course it is going to be expensive so no point discussing costs.

This place offers amazing food.<br/><br/>Ambience is good.<br/><br/>Food - we have tried a spcl fish preparation made by Chef Tejas along with veg stew & Everything was delicious & nicely prepared<br/><br/>Before meal they offer a bread basket & papad with different spices & pickles.<br/>Breads were delicious, soft & full of flavour.<br/><br/>Will definitely look forward to visit again.

Went to Amranta after a fair bit of time. We were 5 of us. The menu has changed and somehow most of the dishes on the menu are either south indian or have a south indian touch to them. That would not have been a problem had the food been nice. They start off by serving some powdered condiments with olive oil to mix and make yourself a paste to be had with the breads basket. We found it gimmicky and very average to taste.<br/>For starters we ordered<br/>Maas ki kachodi- good<br/>Netbread- Decent<br/>Chatora- Average<br/>Corn and curry leaf tikki- decent<br/>Main course though was the real downer. With limited options we ordered home style chicken curry which was an off menu item, with spiced rose and cardamom kolkata chaap, veg tiffin along with appams and malabar parotas. Except chicken curry rest of the stuff was quite bad and was barely eaten. Even the breads were chewy. All in all very average experience

Amaranta, in Spanish means Flower. The entrance to this hotel/restaurant gives you the first look of clear lush blue waters with its mesmerising beauty. The architecture and interior is beautiful and the place is decorated with exquisite artefacts. The experience at this restaurant was very royal. The table was decorated beautifully with gold plates and cutlery. The staff was very responsive and the turnaround time was quick. <br/>The variety in the menu was exquisite however the food lacked the essential taste, and was very simple with not much spices added into it. We ordered the following -<br/>•Kolkata street box•<br/>This box had jhalmuri, puchka, aloo kabuli, Radha ballavi, gugni. The box had lavish varieties and the taste of each item was good.<br/><br/>•Ghizaayat•<br/>Meat croquettes which were prepared in pickling spices. <br/><br/>•yellow moong lentils•<br/>Typical yellow daal cooked at home, with a similar taste.<br/><br/>The prices are a little on the higher side so you need to be careful that you don’t exceed your budget at the cost of making your date happy.

Perfect fine dine experience. The staff really pampers you. The food is great, esp the pickles, fish done in Kerala style. <br/><br/>I recently went with my Mom, and she was very pleased with the hospitality and food

Excellent food, the prawn curry and Basa fish were to kill for!! Excellent hospitality and an event to remember. <br/>If you want a romantic quiet dinner I would recommend this over all other venues in Gurugram.

Great place to dine. The experience was just great, one gets really pampered at Oberoi’s. Thanks for making the evening so special. From starters to main course the food was nicely made.<br/><br/>Enjoyed the experience of having good food!

One of the best fine dining options in Gurgaon - located in The Oberoi. Just a heads up, the menu options have a touch of South Indian preparation. Great non-veg menu but obviously the rates are on higher side.<br/><br/>Food - 4<br/>Ambience - 5<br/>Service - 5<br/><br/>***Ratings out of 5<br/><br/>Full course rate for couple - approx Rs 7000-8000

Ridiculously good food. Went there for a birthday and the restaurant manager was very hospitable. Were given a seven course meal by the chef which was unbelievable.

Vodka roberto. Excellent drink to take. Very relaxing and keeps your mind fresh. Can be taken with the family. The taste of vodka is absolutely perfect. They put perfect quantity of sprite or soda.

Faultless luxury restaurant. I believe Michelin doesn't award stars in Delhi yet. Well, this is a sure bet. Food, service, selection, cellar, everything is top notch. Tiger Prawns and breads with a selection of spices and oil were the highlights for me. Not cheap though, be warned.

Well well what to say<br/>Hotel oberoi has quality food<br/>And their are many choices to eat<br/>Nice interior, decor<br/>Nice place<br/>Loved the ambiance and the richness in it.....

Fine dining isn't a term that does justice to this restaurant. Luxury dining, top of the line ingredients. Fresh, authentic flavours and superb execution. Real Oberoi hospitality and attention to detail makes this my favourite restaurant to celebrate special occasions.

The Oberoi, Gurgaon is one of 'THE' best hotels in Delhi/NCR. We thought to dine at Amaranta after reading that it's a modern Indian restaurant but it's actually only a South Indian restaurant. They have tried a little innovation but nothing on the name of innovation. <br/>We went for a special occasion and spent almost 40k for a normal dinner for a family of 10 people only. Tried all the vegetarian starters on the menu but they were way too average. Shakargandi chaat was without spiced and was only mildly roasted 🙈. The only platter that was good was a gujrati farsaan platter. Everything else was literally a waste of money. <br/>Next we ordered for Chettinad Vegetable curry, Paneer Korma and Dal Pappu in the main course. Out of which the latter was pretty good, but Chettinad curry and paneer korma was not even palatable. Curry leaves and pepper rice was good. <br/>All in all, the worst fine dining experience ever !!<br/>Pls avoid ! They couldn't pull off the recipes well.
Varshaa Ashish
Lovely ambiance, beautiful cutlery and cordial staff await you and the experience at Amaranta doesn't disappoint you! They have an option of a 7-course dinner or ala carte. The 7-course menu is likely to change in a week's time the staff informed to a new chess-themed one. So this review is for their current menu that comprises interesting things like Birbal ki khichdi, which is a super twist and delicious dish! The other courses were fantastic too and those ranged from jackfruit dumplings to tamarind sorbet to a very interesting presentation of ragi papdi with 3 different types of toppings. Overall a good experience but the dessert slightly disappointed us cuz it was ghevar-a dessert that takes a little getting used to and I wish there were at least a couple of options to choose from.

Ambience: Amazing. Despite the soaring temperature, the outdoor seating was quite pleasant <br/><br/>Service: Top notch and efficient<br/><br/>Food: I had some sushi, kababs, mutton biryani and mutton Rogan ghosh. Everything was delicious and packed with flavor. The mango brule was exquisite.<br/>

I came here for lunch on the suggestion of someone at the Trident and I was blown away. The food was so amazing and flavorful and was definitely one of the best meals I had in Gurgaon. For lunch I ordered from the set menu, which came with a spicy tomato soup, the entree and a dessert. The spicy soup was just the right amount of spicy and came out piping hot. They also brought over a selection of bread that was really nice to dip in the soup. For my main, I ordered the Chicken Kurma, which was a light curry but full of flavor. It also came with steamed veggies and a vegetable dahl, which was amazing. I also ordered the meat uttapam, which came with three pancakes and ended up being a lot of food but I was so happy that I got to try it all. The service was fast and attentive, and the chef came out as well to ensure I had a good experience. Overall it was a great experience and not something to be missed if you are in Gurgaon

Simply amazing, food, decor, service. When you enter Oberoi Gurgaon you know you are at a classy place, it's spacious, green & the water bodies are simply amazing<br/><br/>Amaranta loves to play with recepies & their chef know what they are playing with. We went for lunch & asked for chef. We eat very less spicy food and he suggested food accordingly. <br/><br/>We ordered mutton, lobster, chicken curry, chicken stew, complete set of breads (which included appam, dosa, parthas) & to top it all, Birbal ki khichri, which was amazing. Food had apt spices & was made to our taste.<br/><br/>Thanks for great hospitality, we will visit again very soon

When you go to a place like Oberois, your expectations are by default at the highest. You do notice even a minute details. That is exactly what happened when I went to Amaranta this Friday evening for a 9course delightful dinner. We were awed by the warm hospitality we received along with the detailed information on each food items being served. The head chef, Tejas himself greeted us and made sure to know allergies from specific food before hand. Each items served were delicately made and aesthetically beautiful. Their unique names and twist in their authentic taste gave our taste buds a pleasant surprise. As a vegetarian, this was definitely the only variety food I ever had. <br/>Loved the experience!<br/>Everything is 5 on 5!

The place literally takes your heart away.. the food.. the hospitality.. ambience .. everything picture perfect :)<br/>The chef Tejas is a gem! Coming from a 2 Michelin star place he really knows his ways around food ... while we ordered only veg food, every dish was breathtakingly awesome! The Dabeli Pav, Jackfruit in Awadh style, the wallet meal - we loved it all. The tiffin having the Oriya aalu and Andhra Pappu was exquisite ..... <br/>a wonderful Experience :) ....

Amaranta is not for everyone. Someone who can appreciate the details and the exquisiteness this place offers at the given price should visit the same. At the same time, if you are a sea food lover, then you are at the right place.<br/><br/>In my recent stay with the Oberoi's we decided to dine at Amaranta for our dinner. The experience starts as you enter the restaurant. With a server exclusively there to walk you through the intricate menu, they leave no stone unturned to make this a special one for you.<br/><br/>We started with different breads and DIY papads with pickles and dips. Interesting way to keep the diner engaged. Loved they dried spices to be used to make your own dips. <br/><br/>This was followed by an amuse bouche.<br/><br/>We ordered crab cakes and they were really plum and juicy which had us relishing them for a while. <br/><br/>To cleanse our palates we were presented imly sorbet.<br/><br/>For our mains we enjoyed sea bass in Kerala curry with malabar prontha and appams.<br/><br/>I totally loved the food, hospitality and the overall zeal of the staff who made our dinner experience magical.<br/><br/>I would love to dine here again but beware this experience is worth ₹7-8K for two.

Staying at the Oberoi Hotel and came to the in house restaurant for a meal. This place serves.a 7 course meal and told me a story about the design of every course. Ok, well the average punter cannot afford to eat here but bloody nice food, great service and a pleasant atmosphere.

Who says Oberoi can't do great food... well everyone and of course there is truth to that. But oberoi has nailed it with Amaranta. <br/><br/>Admittedly they have moved away from the sea food and I think rightly. <br/>What they have here is South Indian , Coastal cuisine and boy oh boy it works. Chef Tejas has taken traditional dishes and masterfully made it his own. <br/><br/>Recommended Dishes:<br/>Starters: Kodi Veppadu, Chicken Pali Palyan, Lal Maas Kachori, Watermelon Chaat<br/>Main. Venchina Mamsam, Chicken Chettinad, Tomato Pappu<br/><br/>And the service is amazing. Almost everyone is super nice and remember what one enjoyed on last visit. Especially Amit was very helpful in getting us ignorant North Indians started.

Visited Amaranta on NYE for a cozy dinner with my family. The menu was well planned and the service was nice. The staff was really courteous and hospitable. The cuisine was somewhat south Indian fusion and the food was amazing. A place well worth visiting if one likes to fine dine.

The best dining experience in Delhi NCR when it comes to Indian tasting menu. Kudos to Chef Tejas Sovani and his team! <br/><br/>Amazing part is that the servers are trained as well to explain what the chef wants to portray through his food!

By far the best places in Gurgaon for fine dining.....ranked amongst the best in India. Chef Tejas Sovani weaves his magic with his innovative and breathtaking fusion on food. Whether it's the Babeli (Chinese Bao and Dabheli) or the amazing Mutton piece dè art consisting of magaz, nihari and keema. Poetry in food! Don't miss the soup where you break the crust with a tiny hammer and the amouse bouche!

Been there with colleagues for a formal dinner. Nice authentic feel. This place can accommodate approx 50 ppl I guess. Food tastes good. Service is a little slow.

Amaranta at the Oberoi is quite a fancy-uptown Indian restaurant with a heavy twist! The food is very coastal inspired with some French influences however, the menu could very well be written in some kind of moon-man language! It was quite difficult to decipher the language used in the menu (but then that's what sets them apart ...!?!) <br/><br/>We ordered -<br/>A Chettinad Chicken<br/>Malabar parota <br/>A "Tiffin" <br/>Curry leaf and pepper rice <br/><br/>They started us off with an assorted bread basket, mixed pickles and some spice powders which when mixed with olive oil became dips with the breads. <br/>The breads and spice powders were an excellent beginning. Then we got a round of amuse bouche - curd-rice balls with pickle - which were pretty good! <br/><br/>Now for the main course, the presentation of the food was pretty good. The taste was not as spicy as one would have expected, especially for the Indian pallet! <br/>Nonetheless, the chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The tiffin actually came in a four-tier tiffin box which added a bit of whimsy! And Between three people the food was more than enough. <br/><br/>The bill was of course abominably expensive for the kind of dishes that had been ordered, but then what else does one expect at a 5 star ++ hotel?! <br/>

Outstanding fine dining with terrific personalized service and the indian cuisine was at a different level. The chettinad stuff was so authentic and all the masalas were traditional that i feel like frequenting this place more often. Seating is conventional and light on weekdays. Spoke to the Chef and complimented him. High energy staff and a great experience.

It was a professional team gathering for dinner. As the name suggests, it was ought to be a wow experience as a whole.<br/>The food quality was excellent. I guess with that bill amount, we should expect more quantity of food.<br/>Keeping that aside, I particularly did not like desserts. It was some Goa dish and filter coffee ice cream. To me, it was not good in taste.<br/>Other than food, the staff and presentation was excellent as per standards.
Ayush Sharma
Great food, friendly helpful wait staff. Can be a little noisy, so I prefer to get here a little early to avoid the crowds. The prawns was excellent, as are the chicken and fish dishes. Never have had room left for dessert, but the do look enticing.

The hotel tags it as Morden Indian cuisine. Moment you enter you can see and smell it's all about costal food. They largely serve costal Indian food.<br/>I was looking for Indian cuisine, so thought of having some starters and drinks while we ended- up coming here. Chef Tejas personally took responsibility to get food of our choice. He offered is starters. The taste and presentation was amazing and we decided to order more starters before we leave for the main course else where. The second round of starters were even better. Chef just weaved the story in a fashion that we ended- up having a good full course at Amaranta. Very tasty food, great presentation and very creative recipes by chef Tejas.<br/>I would strongly recommend for veg and non- veg food. However be ready for some fusion food with a shad of coastal Indian food.

Can't say much but blame myself only. Didn't do my research before visiting. Not the place where I would have spent my special day.. Food presentation was awesome, ambiance was superb but when it comes to taste for a typical North Indian vegetarian foodie there was not much to offer. Still managd to fill tummy and move on. Good gesture from the management though, they didn't charge for things which we could not finish. If u r hard core non vegetarian and enjoy sea food, this is the place for you.

Opulent environment with a consistent innovative take on Indian food from different parts of our country made for one of my most memorable office team lunches. <br/><br/>A long and not so great office con-call kept me away from sampling all the food around the table but the crab cakes, fried prawns and Chicken Chaap I savoured has been inspiration enough to start planning a family lunch / dinner there. <br/><br/>The short eats which were sent ahead aplenty were again very interesting and not just kept our taste buds tickled but readied the palate in anticipation of the "food festival" that was to follow. <br/><br/>We topped off with a couple of rounds of standard Capuccino and the Creme Brûlée which was again brilliantly prepared. <br/><br/>Look forward to going back and having a more laid back multi-hour affair with food at Amaranta! <br/><br/>Thanks to the team attending to us on 26th Feb afternoon, you guys were splendid!

It is hubbys birthday and we thought of doing something exclusive.. Someone suggested amaranta to me for dinner.. Oberoi restaurants never fail you so we thought it was a safe bet.. We were offered a nine course meal.. Within the first few dishes that we ate, we were flying on the seventh heaven.. The food is amazing.. Chef tejas does an excellent job of knowing your preferences at the beginning of the meal.. He also onboards you with the dishes which get served.. Also very friendly staff.. Amit was serving us and he was really really good! I will visit again and again :) highly recommended!!

The best coastal food restaurant in the city with coastal food from across the country. The Bengal fish, the Keral fish curry, the king prawn and so on so forth. <br/><br/>We were here for the work dinner which stretched for 7 course long meal. Was welcomed with a unique platter and welcome drink (sweet ginger-ale), assorted bread baskets which has 3 unique pickles. <br/><br/>The place understandably has impeccable service since it is part of 7-star premium hotel chain. The decor was well done with fine cutleries. <br/><br/>The only dampene however was vegetarian food as part of set menu. Expected lot of greens there but was offered a usual cottage cheese(not so coastal) made in coconut sauce<br/><br/>The eggplant or aubergine cakes were the only better option for the vegetarian. The breads (Malabar) could only be the saving grace with unique pickles for vegetarians.<br/><br/>Ambiance - 4/5<br/>Service -4.5/5<br/>Food - 4/5<br/>Value for money - 4.5/5<br/>

We visited this place for a work dinner, and had the set menu (non-vegetarian in my case), which was about seven courses long. <br/><br/>The specialty of this place is coastal food from across the country. This meant that you may get some expected fare (Kerala fish curry, for instance), but also a few items you haven’t tasted or heard of before (typical ingredients like prawn or crab showing up in a different way than expected, like in a pate on a cracker for instance). There were lots of culinary fancy techniques showing up: Foams, reductions, bisques, flavoured ice-cream. <br/><br/>That said, as with any set menu, some things resonated more with me than others. Given what I’d heard about the standards of this place, I was expecting to taste at least two or three items that really blew my mind - which unfortunately didn't happen. Everything was very, very good - but in a culinary sense, nothing was truly exceptional. I can’t think of a dish that I would really want to go back to eat again.<br/><br/>As expected in a five star hotel, the service was impeccable, as was the décor: the table was beautiful, and every dish that came out looked exquisite. The server provided us with an overview of each course, which helped us know what we were eating, which was a nice touch. <br/><br/>The evening was definitely an interesting experience but it was, predictably, very pricey. The prohibitively expensive pricing would mean I’d be unlikely to visit this place on a personal occasion. That said, if you’re looking for something special, or have someone you really want to impress, it’s certainly an option for you to consider.

The food is just so-so. For me, the best '5 Star' coastal cuisine in India is served by a restaurant called Karavalli at Taj Gateway, Bangalore. We ordered the chicken stew and prawn moilee. The prawns were overcooked and, for Rs. 2,400 a dish, getting 4 pieces of prawn was daylight robbery. The chicken had bits of fat still stuck on - and at Rs. 1,800, these chickens must've been fed really well. The Rs. 900 beckty starter had probably not more then 10g of fish and tasted very ordinary. All the dishes we had were highly overpriced with unforgivable portions and ordinary taste. The waiter also forgot our coconut water order. Overall, we paid 6.7k for a meal that, for a third of the price, you can get at significantly better quality levels at most South Indian restaurants down south. Not going back!

If you really are a sea food lover, you would really not like to give this a pass! Their speciality is the special fresh daily catch that's flown in! <br/><br/>India has over 7000 miles of costal territories and they oceanic yield is unbelievable, Amaranta tries to get a thin slice of the sample of the catch from these various geographies. <br/><br/>The cuisine also accordingly ranges from various costal territories from Bengal to Odisha to Andhra to Tamil Nadu or Kerala, goa or Maharashtra, not forgetting Mangalore! Our experience has always been awesome! <br/><br/>From crabs to lobster to prawns or fishes of various kind to go with Malabari Paranthas or Appam or Neer Dosa or just plain steamed rice! <br/><br/>Eating is an act of love and ordering the right quantities and the appropriate variety with different taste and cuisine is an art! I excel in this art form!<br/><br/>Till we again visit, this is one of the best sea food station in Delhi it's expensive yet it's a 5.0/5.0 experience!

Last night was a celebration for my friend and he wanted to go to Amaranta at The Oberoi he has heard very good things about this restaurant. It was my first time at The Oberoi in Gurgaon and I was so impressed by the designs and architecture of the hotel, how grand, modern and fashionable! No wonder it it considered one of the best hotels in Asia. We were escorted to Amaranta, it is a Indian seafood specialty restaurant. What impressed me more than any other restaurants was the assorted bread basket that came with 3 different pickles one made from garlic, shrimp and mangoes. They just make your mouth water, perfect for raising your appetite. The bread varied in texture some were so soft, others were nicely chewy and they were all flavourful. <br/>My friend requested the staff we will order whatever they recommended, we ended up getting for appetizer crab cakes and grilled lobster, second course was peri peri crab meat, 2 types of coconut curry prawns, dosas and southern style paranthas which were the best Ive had. For main course we were served grilled tiger prawns. It was a delightful experience and since I love spicy food it was perfect for my palette. If I had to choose my favourites, first the pickled shrimp that came with bread basket was exceptional, second the coconut curry prawn was so creamy and prawn was so tender, third I really enjoyed spicy peri peri crab meat and I also loved their paranthas cooked with lots of butter made it so delicious and crispy. <br/>The reason for high rating is for the fact that they put so much effort on complementary bread basket, many restaurants can look over it and serve unpleasant cold, hard, tasteless bread with just butter. Another reason is they are specialty restaurant they are very focused on Indian Coastal cuisine, most restaurants we see are trying to fit thousand things in their menu that they are not good at. <br/>All seafood lovers should definitely try this place.

Went there for my friend's birthday to give her a treat. The staff was very courteous and the food too was yummy. The complimentary coconut drink given at the beginning was good. Even better were the parathas with the main course. Tell them if you've a special occasion beforehand and they'll make it special. They provided us with a chocolate cake which simply made our day. Will surely go there again.

Went here with family...the ambience is flawless...the service is brilliant and so is the crockery...the breads served as complimentary were brilliant...also was the appetiser....the veg korma curry with malabar parantha was great...overall a very classy 5 star restaurant

This was my 5th visit and sadly, as my food journey in Delhi NCR matures, I now feel that this place is overpriced (expected) and underwhelming (unexpected, for the price). On this occasion, my food was also unusually salty and lacking any excitement. Perhaps I ordered wrongly but I am of the belief that through careful menu curation, chefs should not provide any opportunities for bad choices at establishments like this. The service, as always, remains impeccable and is one of the reasons why I keep going back.

Anything at Oberoi hotels deserves not less than the best rating. The late Rai Bahadur M.S. Oberoi never accepted the second best and that's the tradition of more than perfect hospitality practised across all the Oberoi hotels world wide

Review is for 361 degree cafe. Ambience is great. View of the waterbody is fantastic. Customer service is fantastic... Food is average for a five star hotel... Pricing is a let down as its undeservingly expensive <br/>

To explain in two words- mind blowing! It's an experience that you need to visit this place. From service to food, absolutely brilliant. The cutlery, the lighting, the decor, every little bit was impressive. The fact that lemon sorbet was served between the entree and mains, absolutely refreshed the palates!
Kabir Sawhney
Excellent South Indian fine dining cuisine at one of the world's best hotel chains! What's not to like about this? The food is impeccable and don't even get me started on the service. <br/><br/>A must do for any living soul with an affinity to food!

Chef Ravi has worked wonders with the South Indian cuisines and customized the dishes to make them much more appealing. I have enjoyed their full course dinner couple of times and have always came back happy.- Great presentation- some of the simple dishes like Idli etc taste special because of the customization and presentation- Their shrimp pickle is amazing- Lovely  Malabari fish and roasted Prawns- Disserts  like Payasum and sweet Dosa bowled us over...Service was amazing. Its a little heavy on the pocket though . Recall having  been hit by 13K+ for a  champagne dinner with wife on the valentine's day. Assuming other days would be better on pocket..

I had the food today at Amaranta and had an excellent experience. Excellent coastal food - Fish in mustard and Prawn was great. on-top of that Goan Bebinca desert was nice to go along.

We went there to celebrate my di n jiju's anniversary. This was the first time for me and I was really impressed. They had amazing assortment of cheese for us to try followed by a great north indian spread. The ambience is very soothing and the service too good. However, its not a place I will recommend to go with frens and hangout. The food is expensive and but surely good. I was let down by the portion size though :)

Happened to go there on a dry day, was quite disappointed. The waiter went out of his way and brought a whole array of drinks to taste from. The food - delectable, the prawns especially - succulent, the arrangement - spectacular, the ambience - unmistakably elegant, the hospitality - superlative!
David Lawee
The restaurant is quite beautiful and the menu is terrific for seafood lovers. Outside of seafood the menu is is quite limited. My only real complaint are the prices, which I found to be quite high relative to similar restaurants of this caliber.
Diptakirti Chaudhuri
Food is brilliant and so is the service. Apart from the food, they create some nice moments through an amuse bouche here and a palate cleanser there that add up to a lot. Of course, it is expensive but the ambience and service make it ideal for special occasions. <br/>We had a Chettinad style crab cake, a prawn in banana leaf (served with moilee curry and unpolished brown rice) and a Thalassery prawn biriyani. Each dish tasted superb and the presentation was perfect too. <br/>Mind blown. At 5000+ bucks for two people, pocket also blown :-)

Great coastal food.. We went in a large group to celebrate one big occasion, and gorged on succulent lamb, multiple fish preparations, prawns and many more. Very attentive and friendly service befitting 'The Oberoi' and calm relaxed interiors (white). Very good fine dining option (and prices hint at that). However not a place to chill out with a beer or catch up on banter.
Saurabh Bansal
This the best costal food i have ever had so far... Remember im only a year old as non vegeterian..we ordered crab masala, lamb in coastal curry and fish cooked in mustard oil, food was superb!! Would recommend highly.. Dont miss out on goan desert 'bebinca'.. Ambience is not so great, service outstanding...can cost around 2500 per person
Ankur Verma
Fine dining it is. Super expensive and portions not upto the mark. Maybe not meant for me! Very courteous staff. Had the draught erdinger and pepper fry prawns - tasty. Did not have the pockets to dig into the main course when i was told a dish worth 2500 is good enough for one person only!! But thats Oberoi!

Used to go to Amaranta every once in a while she chef Saneesh (who is an extraordinary chef) was running the restaurant. The ambiance was great and the chef coming out to meet each diner to take feedback added a special personal After a long break we went there recently. It was disappointing to see the deterioration. Food didn't taste as good as it used to, and the menu wasn't nearly as innovative. Wish Oberoi would take some corrective measures.<br/><br/>Deepak

Well a unique experiment with the coastal cuisine. Plus a true 5 star experience. Must go. The mutton cutlet , prawns and breads from all around the world served with 4 spices. You'l love the imported champagne with the sorbet.
Icaneatallday
Pork coconut fry, Mutton stew and Appam. Enough said.<br/><br/>Service was great. They went out of their way to provide their customers with champagne sorbet (taste changing/neutralizers) between appetizers and the main course. <br/><br/>Ambience is simple yet classy. Price of course is what you would expect at a five star! But if one can afford this place atleast once, they must try it. Really rich, flavorful food,
Atul Khosla
Superb. But expensive. No surprises here - the best sea food in Delhi. And of course, the service is just impeccable, and the ambience perfect. <br/><br/>It's fine dining, so don't expect to roll up your sleeves and dive into the fish, prawns, crabs or lobster ... Hmmm... Actually u can if u are bold enough not to worry about those leper stares u may get :). <br/><br/>Coming back to the food... The catch is as fresh as it gets and this is what makes the place special. Definitely worth a visit. One of my favorites in NCR. <br/><br/>
Vishal Suri
Its very very nice place .. nice property infact ... food is good .. evry kind of dishes are well prepared .. its tasty ...<br/>Nice place for family dinners and romantic dinners . Beautiful luxurious hotel
Dr Manish
Great food, brilliant service, nice ambience. One of my fav in the area.<br/>Some of the wines are nice and selected to go with this coastal food. Ask server for suggestions for vegetarian.<br/><br/>I did a recent trip in Jan - bad service and food. To their credit though, they did not charge for 2 dishes which were junk.
Uday Mane
Dinnertime at this wonderful restaurant...the best part is the size of this hotel,,extremely big and makes you feel you are in Istanbul. A royal feeling being there.<br/><br/>The gala dinner was amazing experience. The food was to die for and was going well with the shiraz..<br/><br/>Definitely leaves you awestruck when you are in the hotel and when in Amaranta, you will feel at home, not very jazzy decor but very rich..loved it.
Vineet Kaul
If you like sea food, this is the place for it in Delhi-NCR. I have visited the restaurant many times and the quality of food is really really good and consistent. <br/><br/>I believe Oberoi should rechristen the restaurant and move away from specific style of cooking. While it should remain a sea food restaurant, they should experiment with other world cuisine. <br/><br/>Just keeping it as a Indian costal food thing does not cut ice. They did a Bengali theme recently, maybe that is a start. <br/><br/>Highly recommended!<br/><br/>
Taran Puri
Went recently for a corporate dinner. They pride themselves in flying their sea food daily from kochi, chennai etc so you can enjoy fresh catch of the day. The menu as they claim represents the 7500 km of the Indian coast line. <br/>We ordered the fresh catch of the day cooked in goan peri peri and the taste was quiet alright but nothing extra ordinary. <br/>The pork coco fry was quiet nice.<br/>The quantity as usual synonymous with the chain is not much in fact its a bit under decent. <br/>Overall a nice place only for corporate dinner otherwise better places are there to go with family.
Akshay Maheshwari
Went for lunch on 15th August (dry day - which helped limit the bill somewhat!).<br/>The food was very good as expected - the pepper prawn starter was excellent,as was the fish (sea bass) in a Goan Piri Piri base. The experiment with the bacon rice went a bit far though-didn't really go with the spicy curry.<br/>The service was impeccable - wouldn't expect anything less from Oberoi.<br/>The cost - well, let's just say its a place I'd go to for a special occasion only!<br/>All in all, a pleasant experience that I would definitely recommend.
Kapil Viren Ahuja
Fantastic place. Food was good, surprisingly the vegetarian was very good as well. Not a lot of options in mom-veg if you don't like a whole variety if seafood. Soups were average <br/><br/>Service was okay, I did order for fresh lime which I had to ask 3 times and it took about 25 minutes to get. For a place like this and for the money we pay i expect better service. <br/>
Murugan
This is one of the best and finest sea food restaurant i have been to in Delhi NCR. A lot of glass effect and water bodies have been used around the restaurant. The sea food is the freshest one can imagine in city which is not so close to sea. The service is fabulous. It is an absolute delight to eat here and its a seafood paradise. It is an expensive restaurant but it is worth a visit.

Decided to a change from our regular outings to 'Wasabi at the Taj' and went to the Amaranta at the Oberoi Gurgaon. Had been dying to try it for some time, but never got around to doing it. <br/><br/>It's an elegant restaurant as expected from the brand. Was pretty empty for a Friday night and a quarter way thru our meal, we had the whole place to our selves. <br/><br/>The menu was intriguing. Hadn't heard of some of the dishes before. Wait staff could use a bit more training on trying to explain the serving sizes. Wasn't clear if it was single serve or a shared serving format. <br/><br/>We did go over board in ordering, but it was a very satisfying experience. The dishes came out pre-divided for the 4 of us. Presentation was elegant and artistic. We had some of their signature sea food dishes (it is a costal cuisine specialty restaurant after all) but I was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of red and white meat options which we tried. <br/><br/>Very fusion in its presentation which was a refreshing change. <br/><br/>Deserts were to die for... A Filter Coffee ice cream gave me my night fix. But the highlight was the piyasam (sp?) ice cream which came out as a surprise for my wife who hadn't ordered anything... Wow.. <br/><br/>Overall, a great experience. Don't generally do Indian when dining out, but this exception did change my mind. Would be back for sure and most probably will be my new place to take my international guests. <br/><br/>They do need to try and make the atmosphere a bit less sterile and more engaging or animated. Could be very quiet if you didn't have anything to talk about.. Fortunately me and the boys were no sit enough when we had the place all to ourselves.. <br/><br/>Try it out. Not cheap, but then the good things in life never are...

Very fine dining<br/>Excellent food<br/>Quality of fish used is very fresh<br/>The starters are a good portion and comes with assorted Indian and other tropical breads. Particularly loved the beetroot bread. The chutneys and side masalas served along with them, brought back a lot of memories. <br/>Food had just the right quantity of masala<br/>The portions were quite big. <br/>One of the lovely<br/> things was the champagne served with the crush iced peach; served right after the starters and before the main course. <br/>Overall - had a fabulous experience <br/>

A breath of fresh air amongst all the restaurants that serve coastal cuisine. begining with the decor its doesn't look Indian in any way but that is the clever intention, the Crab, asparagus and raw mango poriyal with green moong waffles, mache and grapefruit salad is a completely innovative dish, the flavours are traditional but the presentations are nouvelle. key examples being the Andhra snapper with green gram dosa, the chattinad chicken and the sinfully delicious mutton chukkah. all the food id preplated and very very far from inexpensive.

Very nice ambience, good service n certain customized south indian dishes are a hit. Small chocolate uttappams are really nice.

I was treated to a sumptuous Sunday Brunch at Amaranta - The Oberoi Gurgaon by a friend. The cuisine here is coastal food and it has been awarded the Best Coastal Restaurant by HT.<br/><br/>The experience is quite enjoyable - with the continuous service of the multiple course meal.

Excellent Coastal Buffet. Puts you to sleep without a drink...goes on and on. Absolutely special food and they make you feel special too. The seating was a bit cramped though there were other options available, guess we chose the cramped and cozy ones. The ambience inside the restaurant is normal nothing worth describing. The staff is awesome as you would expect. <br/><br/>Leave all that aside...the set menu just keeps rolling in and I would recommend that. Very good quality, taste and abundance....a mix of Coastal and regular food to suit all palates. Fine dining for sure with the Chefs special touch keeps you smiling.

Makes you feel cared for. Love the sorbets between courses. Great food. For special occasions. Pricey. Tries too hard.

Recently we had a function at The Oberoi's. The landscape created by the group is awesome and they have elevated the premises by almost 3 floors. The ambiance is serene and beautiful. Loved the idea of not putting too much to show and leaving giving ample space to feel relaxed. The items placed are very bold and symmetrical. Everyone around is very friendly and happy to help.<br/><br/>The food on the other hand was ok. We had Potato Popcorn and Cheese Balls for starters. It came with sweet chilly sauce. Both these items were cooked to perfection and very tasty. We had a choice of a tomato soup. I didn't try that. <br/><br/>For Dinner we had 3 vegetables namely Panner Lababdar, Mixed Veg and Pudina Gobi. The Panner Lababdar was the best and others being ok. There were many salads and I loved their Broccoli Pomegranate Salad. The Dahi Bhale were also good. We had a choice between herb rice and Peas Pulao. The Dal Makhani was not very tasty and had an after taste as if it was not washed properly. Had to wait for atleast 10mins to get my breads, well it was disappointing but on the other hand we were a lot of 400 people and sometimes it happens. <br/><br/>The best was ofcourse the Desserts counter. There was Butterscotch Icecream. Many Bengali sweets, they were good. Loved their Caramelized Banana Pie. The Italian Tiramisu Cake was good. There was also option for other assorted pies, sweets and candies.<br/><br/>The Scorecard:-<br/>Food/Taste - 7/10<br/>Service - 7/10<br/>Value for Money - 7/10<br/>Quality - 7/10<br/>Ambiance - 9/10<br/><br/>Great starters and Desserts!
