Review Nagai - Gurugram (Gurgaon)

Kovid Sehgal
Nagai is one of the most Authentic places serving Japanese Cuisine in the millennium city. Chef Reina Nagai has bought Japanese Culture along with the perfectly cooked Japanese Cuisine under one roof. The decor of the place could not have been any better. Everything was perfect, be it the Japanese art on the wall or the seating patterns. A must visit.

NAGAI This restaurant is located at Sec-29,Gurugaon,groumd floor. It's a Japenese cuisine restaurant. The interiors of this place are totally Japnese theme oriented. So our order goes: Soup: Tom Yum Chicken, very well flavoured and chicken was cooked very well too. It was a good choice. Snacks: Kushiyaki chicken Skewers- Teriyaki skewers : i enjoyed this dish, as i love chicken sattes , n they cooked it really well n presented beautifully. Caramalised Lotus Roots with Soya ams Seasme- its a very rare dish to find in any restaurant. It was different and good to taste. King Prawn Dragon Roll: these are prawn sushis. Someone like who loves prawns and sushis will love this delicacy.. Crispy Avocado and Baby corn: this is a veg sushi, i simply loved it. MAIN COURSE Pad Kra Pao: its a combination of veggies cooked well and flavoured.accompanied with steamed rice. Salmon Teriyaki: Grilled salmon served with wasabi and teriyaki sauce. It was amazing. More than i expected. DESERT: Dark chocolate Semifreddo : it was like a chocolate mouse melts in your mouth, nothing short of yumminess in my mouth. I loved my experience at this restaurant. The staff was also very pleasant, and i would love to visit this place soon.

Nagai located in the heart of Gurugram Sector 29 . This authentic Japanese restaurant represents the essence of Japanese cuisine; simplicity, fresh produce, creativity and unique flavour The decor is comfortable and ambient creating a sophisticated yet pretentious feel. They specialise in Japanese style seafood including osozai , sushi to enjoy with exciting cocktail list & imported sake and beer. This culinary genius brings his own unique craftsmanship to a varied menu of traditional Japanese dishes, including some of the freshest and highest-quality soups and sushi to start with . They display a fantastic product in a beautiful environment and at an extremely competitive price point whilst maintaining a professional but modest service style. Each dish is presented beautifully ensuring that the delicate ingredients are properly matched to enhance the flavours of the food and to create a visual masterpiece. The menu is cleverly designed to satisfy all dining occasions, from groups of friends enjoying share plates to more intimate evenings that call for a complete wine and dine experience.

Japanese at its best in Gurgaon. Lot of good food. Nicely done interiors and ambiance. Parking is an issue here. It is recommended to either have a driver or take an uber. As it is crowded due to small service lane parking. Just a little on expensive side

Yummmm delicious authentic Japanese cuisine make your day special. This place races my heart. Hospitality is wonderful and even better food.

Love their sushi and cocktails! Beautiful ambience and good place to party!

Awesome Japanese and Asian fusion food amidst lovelyambience and excellent service..
Prateek Chhillar
A lovely new bar in town that's amazing for great cocktails and some exquisite fare in terms of japanese & seafood based cuisine. A credible option for a nice evening over drinks or dinner as well.

The food here was decent. They have a nice variety of dishes, but I couldn't find anything that was amazing or unique to them; everything that they serve, can be found in most Japanese restaurants. Some of their dishes were not acceptable, such as their soup, tastes like they bought it at a grocery store and warmed it up. One nice thing is that they offer an 'All You Can Eat' option where you pay a standard amount, but they also have a waste policy as well.
Pria Varma
An amazing Japanese restaurant and bar, brilliant food and some really good cocktails as well. The staff and their service adds to the experience. The bar Boho is equally good. Tastefully done decor and not very expensive either. An absolute favorite!

A very conveniently located place in Sector 29 itself but on the main road which saves the hassle of getting stuck in a jam and other parking woes. They also have a valet parking facility. Nicely done place with no clutter. Beautiful paintings depicting the Japanese culture on the walls and dim lighting. I liked the Miso soup here which I usually don't like much elsewhere. The Tuna Carpaccio was good though i think the slices can be a bit thin to make it more palatable. But I lived it a lot. The Sushi variant we tried is a slight bigger than the normal rolls and just lived it. Do try the pork belly dish, it's nice and different than the usual sweets and sour types we are used to eat. Cocktails are great and a Must must have. Overall a beautiful fine dine place with great service, amazing drinks and good food.

Great bar restaurant and good service. The decor and the ambience is excellent .

We went in for the "all you can eat" kitchen to table Sunday brunch. It was good. The potential menu spread to choose from was awesome. We could taste most of the stuff we wanted to. Especially the Tuna Sashimi, Tuna Tataki, Sushi rolls, Ebi Tempura and the deserts were outstanding. The crew was extremely helpful and caring. The ambience despite being Sunday afternoon was quiet and cosy enough for a family outing. We had a great time.. Of course the price is a little steep..but that's what you ought to pay to be served the way we were.

Loved this place! I have to return to the US today and they don't open till 7pm else Is make a special trip from Faridabad just to eat here. Super clean, fresh food, upscale, be sure to have the Seaweed Salad and the Green Tea Ice Cream (Gelato) - the best I've ever had.

The ambiance is nice. Way better than some of the other places around here. The cocktails are to die for. Food is amazing as well. Thinking of booking the place for my birthday. Will go again.

Good food. Polite staff. Slightly heavy on the pocket.
Seems authentic. Nice ambience. Nice serving staff. Let's be honest, it's quite heavy on the pocket.

Japanese done right. Period. Ambience, food, service. Arrigato! Highly recommended for a cosy evening out or a party with friends. Comes at a price though for the budget conscious.

Probably a haven for non vegetarians and sea food lovers! This place has amazing sushi, ribs, pork chops & so much more like tapas, tempuras and skewers. Feels a bit like Japan. They have a special tasting platter on the menu with multiple courses which we couldn't try because of it was too elaborate but will surely come back to try it next time.

The spicy salmon, salmon sushi, prawn fried rice and pork rib steaks are amazing! The ribs were soft and succulent, cooked well. Had the tiramisu for dessert and it was superb too. The food tastes very authentic and the vibe is very calm and soothing. Definitely worth a visit!

Amazing food, yummy cocktails and great service!
A must visit restaurant... Loved the Gin & roses cocktail and the pork belly! Ingredients were fresh everything was as authentic as it could be.

Excellent Cocktails and brilliant food!! Usually not crowded but food is really good!

Sushi platter and the pork belly are wonderful... must try the whiskey cocktail!

**DO NOT have Nagai unless you want to accompany your meal with these medicines**

My wife and I had the salmon don, which the salmon meat was uncooked, soft, on Sunday, and since the night everything went south. The stomach ache, diarrhea, vomiting totally destroyed our trip to Goa from Sunday to Wednesday, total wastage of money and excitement since we all stayed on our hotel bed and be painful and helpless.
I complained to Zomato about it and all I got was the refund of 400 rupees. Well, if this is the courtesy of you, then better let more people know about it.

Don't pretend yourself to be a premium Japanese restaurant when you have no idea how to cook a salmon till it's safe for consuming!
Twisha & Shruti
Except for the sushi and the dessert, the matcha tiramisu, there was nothing nice about this place. The service was oddly sloppy and the food wasn’t really the best, specially the main course. The interiors were nice and pretty and the cocktails too were pretty yummy but over all we thought it was over-priced. We like our Japanese food but this surely wasn’t a place that left a big impact on us. Try some of their cocktails and sushi though. You may go again for them we think! :)

For more such reviews, follow us on Instagram and Facebook: twohangrywomen

I’m pleasantly surprised with the food at Nagai every time I come here. Went there again a few days back, and this time was no different.

We ate the Double Salmon roll, Chicken Gyoza, Teppanyaki seared Scallops with Butter Miso sauce, Teppanyaki chicken with bamboo shoots and the show-stopper Black cod marinated in Miso.

The Scallops and the Black Cod were sensational - do NOT miss them if you come to Nagai. Oh, and yes, definitely come to Nagai :)
Abhijeet
We ordered the Pork and spring onion with pepper Teriyaki sauce (grilled skewer), the assorted Non Veg Sushi platter and Teppanyaki Pork rib steak with ginger and garlic sauce. Everything was fabulous and was served with great care by the staff.

The basement area is the bar, where we went to look around while choosing a table. If you want have a few drinks and listen to some nice music being played by the Resident DJ, you can grab a table downstairs.

Excellent salmon !!

If you love sushi, this is the only place in NCR that serves you truly genuine japanese cuisine in a delicate presentation. Considering that the wasabi was made to the perfection, the impeccable service and the traditional setting, the prices are fairly competitive for this wholesome experience

Finally my prayers have been answered.
Aplace where it is more happening and kost nicely made with the most eye catching interioir.
This place is blessing for the people put up in gurugram.
I visited this place and that was a great day.
I had a lot of food over there in nagai.

Food was very good. It's the first Japanese restaurant in Gurgaon I felt came close to being authentic. However taking off 1 star for houseflies in the restaurant flying around my plate.

The restaurant is located in the sector- 29 of Gurgaon. Nearest Metro station is Hooda city centre and from there it is only a five to ten minute walk to the restaurant.

The restaurant is decorated according to the oriental Japanese culture and will make you feel like you are in Japan itself. The seating is traditional low set table system reminiscent of the Japanese customs.

The first thing I tried was Gyoza- traditional Japanese dumplings which is stuffed with chicken and is sort of pan fried. A single portion contains four mouth watering dumplings served with a few dips on the side.

The second on my order was Veg Dragon Roll. It is basically a sushi roll. Th stuffing is made with crispy veg tempura and marinated shiitake mushrooms. The rolls are served with avocado paste on the top.

For my mains I had Yaki Udon Chicken. This is basically stir fried Udon noodles served with chicken and vegetables. Instead of authentic Udon noodles they had used a different type of noodles in sizeable amount. It is perfect of a single person.

As a side I had Spinach salad with caramelised walnuts and pears. The salad was made with extra virgin olive oil and lemon vinaigrette. The spinach used was really fresh along with fresh pears. The taste was a little tangy to your tongue.

To end the meal, in the desert I had their Dark Chocolate and Cinnamon Semifreddo. Semifreddo is made from cream, ice cream and is in a frozen form but only a little cold unlike ice cream. Semifreddo was prepared with Belgium Dark Chocolate served with dark chocolate bits and chocolate cream. It had robust taste of cinnamon.

For the drinks I had Strawberry Colada- fresh strawberry crush, fresh cream, coconut cream and pineapple juice wherein all the elements were blended extremely well go let out an extraordinary taste.

Always a pleasure to visit Nagai. The place is so sophisticated. Well trained staff and a great menu on offer for guests. I had few guests and made the right choice to visit Nagai.

Excellent Japanese restaurant. It’s certainly one of NCRs best Japanese food, and if you come from Bombay it will surprise you with its authenticity and price. Kofuku- probably Bombay’s best, would be several notches below Nagai.

Best Sushi place in town!!! For vegetarians - aubergine roll and dragon roll is a must have. A very interesting variety of cocktails- we tried Boho Mule and Herbaceous. Would love to try the brunch option next time.

We went for the weekend lunch at Nagai. The ambience was fantastic. The food mind blowing and the service (by Pankaj) set high standards which will be difficult for others to emulate. I have had Japanese food in Japan, abroad and India; and this was at a level way up there. We had miso soup, sushi, terriyaki salmon, prawn tempura, chicken sewers and could not have enough. The chefs cook so well, that I really cannot chose what stood out. Everything did ! This was my 3rd visit and we all will keep going. It was topped by deserts which were in a class of their own. And to top it all, it was good value for money in the offer they had. Keep it up, and thank you Pankaj. I missed meeting the chefs

Good food and the salmon with wasabi sauce is great... especially for kids. The chicken teriyaki was a let down. Overall I think the staff is courteous and friendly. Prices are really steep. Even in Tokyo the prices are customer friendly for this kind of cuisine

Nagai is a premium Japanese cuisine restaurant. This stands out in terms of food quality, peaceful and optimally designed interior adding great touch to the Ambience and courteous staff. The place is not pocket friendly (as said it’s a premium restaurant). The options in food are great and one must try out sea food based cuisine. This place seems to offer authentic Japanese cuisine (I ain’t a connoisseur so cannot stamp ‘authenticity’). A must visit (at least once if it’s heavy on pocket) to try out something different and global cuisine.

Enter the world of Japanese fine dine with a beautiful, serene and calm ambience. The fountains on the outside add more charm to this place. There are huge posters of geisha on the wall and for the dinner service, you get the candle lit experience which is beautiful.
From this onwards, the things went a little downhill. The service is super slow. The menu is extensive but super expensive. I don't find any value for the buck you pay here.

We ordered for sushis - the rainbow roll was really delicious with 3 different types of fishes and prawn - heavenly !! Totally loved it.
However, the double salmon roll seemed like it had chicken on the inside or the fish was over cooked and it was super salty. My worst sushi ever.

Then we ordered for sashimi - tuna and norwegian salmon. The fish was quite fresh. For drinks, we ordered mocktails - jasmine iced tea and watermelon spritzer.
For desserts, I had the dark chocolate semi freddo with cinammon. The more I had this dessert, the more I started to think what am I even eating. Not too special.

I don't think i ll be ever going back. Would rather try some other sushi place.

Dishes are exclusive, exotic and mostly eye-candies. Copper themed decor is appealing too. On the flip side, way too expensive and disappointing quantity level.
Ruchi Sodhi
I want to rate this higher but the issue is Value for money. Only the unlimited weekend lunch meals is what appeals to me. The food is great but because it is Japanese you can't try a lot of dishes for the fact that they are expensive. Week day lunches are hardly packed here. The ambiance is calm. I had a terrible service experience they served me water in room temperature and I asked for ice, the ice was smelly and dirty. I asked the manager to serve me clean cold water and he got us the most expensive bottled water and also billed us for the same. Serving clean cold water is the very basic that is expected out of a restaurant at least.

Excellent and fresh rolls, though the double salmon was slightly bland. The noodles were fantastic. This is going to be my absolute go to for Japanese food, highly recommended!

If you have a great company...it enhances the taste of food. So it did happen with me...had a lovely lunch with amazing company...if you love Japanese food...this is the place to have Edamame, Sushi and Sake...Love the food..didn’t got the time to visit but see you soon Nagai...

I am not a sushi fan but their vegetarian shushi is to die for!! The quality of every dish that we ordered was very good. Cocktails were good and the service was prompt! Highly recommended!!!!!!

Good experience. Went there for our sushi night and while sushi and food were good, the drinks were the surprise. Really good cocktails. Great job by the bartender.

Nagai is, hands down, the best Japanese place I've ever eaten at. We cleared our day for this. Made sure to avoid having any breakfast, and settled in for a luxurious brunch. The ~3k set menu was our choice, and we fully intended to make Nagai regret offering it.

I don't think we succeeded, but we definitely didn't regret going there.

Every item we ordered came soon, hot, and with fantastic service. A list of everything we ordered would be in poor taste, quite unlike what we did order. Of special note were the spicy tuna rolls, the marvelous karaage, the salmon teriyaki steak, and the apple-cinnamon mille feuille. The curry was a bit of a miss, but I'm willing to chalk that up to an unfamiliar taste. The pork katsu don was also brilliant, but a bit too filling for our goals.

The food is delicious, the service exceptional, and the ambience charming. Literally cannot go wrong here. I'd give it a six if I could.
Preet Deep Singh
It is a nice place, with decent service. Very few people when we went. Ordered Sushi, which was nice and well presented. I guess that is par for the course when one orders sushi. Zomato Gold cut down on the bill.
The staff offered a fork to my friend, instead of volunteering to teach how to use chopsticks which would have been more fun, and much more polite.

Great place, great food , great experience!! Have the cocktails below at the pub - very refreshing and the sushi was really authentic . Will be coming back for more soon.

Really shameless people.
We went there for lunch.
We just sat down. We asked for the menu. A girl server came and said that are you guys looking for punjabi food!!! The restaurant next to us serves punjabi buffet!! If u want u can go thr!!
Who talks like that!!!
We were like, are u out of ur mind..... y would we come to nagai if we wanted to have punjabi food!!
These people should learn some hospitality from Punjabis.
Whatever we ordered was so pathetic.
And above everything, they did not know how to treat their customers!
We asked for a feedback form.
They refused to give us!!
Come to Punjab.... we will tell u what good food and good hospitality is.
Poor people.
Gung .... in sec 29 is far far far better place than u guys...... they are so very good in hospitality and serve delicious food.
No one should ever visit this useless place nagai ..... with such rude illmannered staff.
Prateik Singh
the soba noodles were a bit oily as compared to the previous orders. the presence of carrots lent the dish an undesirable sweet taste

The dragon roll was bomb. I have tried sushi in the best of places in India n it has always disappointed me. But Nagai has some great sushi rolls.

In short a little expensive but makes up for it in taste.

The pictures will define my super experience also used my Zomato gold membership and got a super discount..

Great Food Good experience OK OK service but is always empty whenevr I've visited don't know why though!

Wanted to rate 3.5 though but can only select 3 or 4
Nagai is an absolute favourite. Japanese cuisine done right with such amazingly friendly staff who welcome you with a lot of warmth on every visit. Their cocktails are worth trying... I've had almost every dish and cocktail from this place and nothing has ever disappointed me. I would recommend the following (not that other dishes aren't nice but these are my favourite):

Miso soup
Lotus roots
Gyoza
Terriyaki pork
Spice salmon sushi
Double mushroom rolls
Soba noodles with fried eggs
Pork belly
Cocktail - Mogami (mango based cocktail)

They have a separate bar in the basement called Boho. Both Nagai and Boho are done tastefully. And Boho has these really good gigs on Saturdays...They stick to good music, nothing really loud and brash.

The only thing I didn't like there was their desserts. A place that serves such delicious food can do better desserts I'm sure.

Overall an absolute favourite and a place that I would recommend.

This place was on my list of ‘must try’ since a while now and when I finally got to the place..the ambience was pretty fancy, there weren’t many people (I love quiet and empty places).
The food journey started off with ordering dragon rolls - prawns with roasted eel and avocado - 5/5 amazingly good!, also ordered prawns with udon noodles and chicken wings! Clearly I don’t have a big appetite. If I had, I would have ordered every goddamn item on the menu.
Their food representation is on point and flavours are equally good.
I’ll definitely visit it again.
Chetan Bhardwaj
Be the manager or staff very impolite and unprofessional . The behaviour is bad and there is no understanding about the food they server. Small portions and expensive as per their standard . Definitely a must not try ..Only if u care not wasting time and money. Rude staff and bad food.
Akul Sahariya
Moshi Moshi! Very tasty food! We had salmon teriyaki, japanese chicken curry, sticky rice for our main course. For dessert we had apple cinnamon millefeuille.

Ordered veg yaki soba....presentation was good.,but I could only taste Salt.....what a let down when you are expecting food at hungry hours of the night..

Amazing food, delightful staff, and an incredible ladies night! Thank you for hosting our entire party and for the generous and delicious service!

Both Boho and Nagai are worth your while! Sushi and bonus unlimited drinks on Friday for ladies!

So after looking forward to this eye catching place for more than a month now I finally decided to give this a try ! As you can already tell from the pictures this place is quite expensive
REVIEW :-
•Decor = 10/10
• One of the most friendy and nicest staff!
•Good service
•Presentation=9/10
•Taste= 8.5/10
Now here is the thing this place is targeted to elite class and hence has highly priced dishes. So for me it was not worth it as the prices slashed the overall rating . I can say that the food was amazing as some time experience only but you can definitely find similar at a significant lower price or better taste at this price .
•Overall = 7/10
(taking money as a factor else it is about 9/10 )

*BONUS*= comes under zomato gold

Note: if you’re looking for a spicy Indian twist on Japanese food. This is not the place. Ambience was real nice, no kids around.
Had the Omakase.
A 6 course meal from appetizer to desserts.
Course 1 and 2 were very amperage nothing really stood out. Would have preferred more wasabi in course 1.
Course 4-loved the sushi and presentation
Course 5
The main course were the starts of the night. The stewed pork belly was just the right amount of sweet and savory and reallly hit the spot and the salmon was perfectly cooked with a light crust outside and a well balanced middle. Was an absolute delight.
Course6-coconut panna cotta- loved it. Light fresh and a perfect end to a heavy meal.
I ordered Sushi and I enjoyed the meal. Though I do feel the rice was little sticky. Their menu is quite unique as compared to most of the sushi places. I will probably order again!

Japanese Fine Dining and Bar in Gurgaon. Beautifully maintained property with no clutter. Aesthetically pleasing paintings depicting the Japanese culture on the walls and dim lighting.

I love Japanese cuisine and currently Daikichi is my favorite when it comes to authenticity.
I was with Risheek so everything had to be Non Vegetarian. We ordered 2 cocktails and 2 dishes.
Read what we ordered and more in my latest blog post - Long Visit at Nagai | Sector 29, Gurgaon
Follow Ministry Of Gourmet on Instagram @ministryofgourmet

Ordered sushi from Nagai. Never tasted fried sushi and its safe to say I don’t want to ever taste it either. The food was disgusting. Called for spicy tempura sushi and mushroom sushi. Both pathetic
Couldn’t have more than one piece each. For a price of 1000 r/s your sushi was a big dissapointment

This is hands down the best restaurant in Gurgaon. It is a culinary heaven. I have tried their ala carte with Sushi and the resplendent Pork Belly. Pork Belly was out of this world delicious.

Next time, we dared to take the eat as much you can luncheon on weekends. Now, I think eat as much as you can is a good fit for below average places like BBQ Nation. People don't go out happy but pukey. It is just gluttony.

So I was reluctant for a long time to do that here. But one day, my wife and I dared to do it. And boy, was it mindblowing. We had the most amazing food. It was expensive but it was worth it.When we came out of our 2 hour food pleasure ride, we were content. Extremely content. To all the hard work, keep going. It is a great place in the making!

Visited this Thursday for dinner. Nothing great about food or service. Not sure about 4.3 ratings given. Average place with five star prices

The restaurants charges almost double for dining in vs home delivery. Talked to the manager and he said that they need to charge extra for the ambience. Felt cheated as this is the first restaurants that overcharges by so much.

Too expensive for the quantity/food portion

A great sushi place in our neighbourhood.
Great menu with lots of options to pick from, friendly staff and a nice cozy place.
Definitely coming back

Nagai’s sushi selection is far more extensive than most places. In terms of quality, their rolls are remarkable. Other dishes worth mentioning are the Chicken Gyoza, the smoked pork belly with cinnamon and the red curry chicken. The dessert menu however is not that impressive, and it could be improved upon. To end the meal, one can opt for a soothing Japenese tea as well.
I was surprised to find this restaurant at such an unexpected place. Courteous staff with an expansive Japanese menu. We tried the Dragon rolls and the California rolls and a few desserts - felt that the desserts could’ve been better.
Swaran Sehgal
Prawn tempura was good and deluxe California roll was average and crispy salmon roll was c good . BUT sushi was delivered without soy sauce.
Foodie
The sushi platter and chicken fried rice were delicious while the grilled black cod with miso sauce and coconut panna cotta with mango purée & ginger were excellent and unusual fare. The only let down was the teppanyaki pork ribs which were tough and dry.Sevice was great and so was the ambience.

Sometime back, I was in Gurgaon and visited Nagai, the much talked about Japanese restaurant. The ambience of Nagai has got every element that makes it look like a fine dine Japanese restaurant. They recently launched their new bar, BOHO and the trust me it’s going to be the talk of the town soon, as they blend amazing cocktails. For someone like me who loves Japanese food , I must say I found a great place in Gurgaon as else in Delhi, it will always be Guppy. Food here is very much Japanese and they haven’t played around with the taste. You will surely fall in love if you are a true Japanese food lover

One of the better Japanese places I have been to recently.I tried the sushi platter which had a mix of nigiri and rolls.I also tried the chicken udon noodles which were fantastic. The noodles were thin and very flavoursome.Great place for a good Japanese meal!
Ankita Pant
Overrated is the operating word for Nagai. Food was average. Quite a few Japanese restaurants serve much better food. The sushi roll was tasteless, pork rib steak was tough and extremely chewy, udon noodles had an egregious portion of carrots in it, and Salmon was doused in salt... Neither the experience nor the food was worth the exorbitant fine dining bill we paid. I am seriously underwhelmed!
Pulkit Juneja
We had a wonderful experience last week with a bunch of friends at NAGAI, which seems to be the best japanese restaurant in gurgaon.
We had their 4 course meal and loved each and everything.

Our best picks were Crispy Avocado Sushi, Kushiyaki Chicken Skewers and Pad Kra Pao.

In desserts we loved their Dark Chocolate Semifreddo.
Overall a wonderful 5 on 5 experience.

Very good food!their sushi is excellent ..had ordered the sticky rice teppenyKi ,which has room to improve

Ordered sushi - California roll and double salmon along with vegetable udon noodle bowl. Excellent and fresh rolls, though the double salmon was slightly bland. The noodles were fantastic. This is going to be my absolute go to for Japanese food, highly recommended!

Being a sushi lover, I had to try out this place cause of the reviews.
On entering the place , we found it quite nice but were feeling bad that it was empty😨......
Anyways , went ahead with ordering Sushi-- veg n nonveg !!! And they were yummm , quite different , unlike the ones we usually eat. It was the first time that we did not require soya sauce along with it.The sushi was full of flavour 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

As we got stuffed with it, we went ahead to order just from the tapas menu.. Again one veg n one nonveg...The veg one was nicely flavoured with minced mushrooms in wasabi and mayo sauce stuffed inside aubergine . Non veg was also pretty good( as told by my husband )

Their bar area was also very nicely done up... but sadly empty!!!!!
All n all an amazing experience ...
Will go there with my friends!!!!

The chef has another restaurant by the same name in IBIZA !!!!

Thank you chef for introducing this kind of food to gurgaon😀😀😀😀😀😀

One of the best Japanese cuisine restaurant to fulfil your sushi cravings. For starters i would recommend to try the caramelised lotus roots and kushiyaki chicken skewers. King prawn dragon roll and spicy crispy salmon roll for sushi. For main course do try the salmon teriyaki which grilled with BBQ sauce along mashed potatoes and Japanese curry. They also provide a unique range of desserts with Coconut panna cotta being my favourite.
Connoisseur Prime
One of the finest Japanese restaurants in town, Nagai remains my favourite for authentic Japanese cuisine. The Miso soup and the Tom kha soups are great. The Gyozo is a great departure from the regular dumplings.
The crispy tuna roll and Salmon teriyaki are my favourites at this restaurant followed by a serving of the coconut panna cotta.
Parv Bansal
One of the few places in Gurgaon which serves authentic Asian food. Ordered Asparagus and Avocado Sushi Roll along with Wok Veg with Cashew and Edamame in Mains. Asparagus and Avocado Rolls were well prepared and had authentic sushi flavor (no Indianized). Main was served with boiled Jasmine steamed rice and was cooked to perfection. The vegetables were not over cooked and despite being fairly boiled raw, the veggies had a flavor.

The only thumbs down aspect to the place is noise from its bar area. Incase there is a party happening, the music is almost clearly audible in the restaurant area which literally the Asian aesthetics of the place.

Reason 1: Rs. 3000 approx for 2 with alcohol is the BIGGEST LIE. It's insanely expensive for the decor and food quality. No wonder the restaurant was wide empty on an early sunday evening.

Reason 2: food was very average. Sushi was okay. Everything else, especially the tiramisu tea ice cream was pathetic. Service was below average.

PLEASE DONT GO

Looking out for the best Japanese cuisine in Delhi NCR? Yes? Well, then you've landed up at the right place as NAGAI is what comes to my mind, whenever I think of having Japanese cuisine.
I tried sushis for the first time in my life at this restaurant and I had no idea how would it taste. But, after tasting the different sushi variants here, I was feeling like was I even a foodie before I had this? It was sumptuous to core!
The best one was the - CALIFORNIA ROLL
Me being a bit health conscious, I also liked Asparagus and Avacoda Roll.
If you love salads, you will definitely love Spinach Salad with Caramelised Walnuts & Peer.

Lastly, in Desserts I loved the Dark Chocolate Gelato!

I had the best time fine-dining in here. The service was quite prompt & quick.
Do visit this restaurant if you're a Sushi Lover!

We went post reading the reviews, honestly the food was disappointing. We opted for the chef menu to get an overall flavor of the food. There nothing about the food was remarkable. the staff however was warm and friendly.

The food was something that can only be described as heavenly and if anyone is ever able to describe something better, it’s that! The service was impeccable.
Honestly, this is the best restaurant I have ever visited. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed the staff are polite and attentive and the food is beautiful.
Trippin' Ullu
Ullu went here with a few friends and totally got hooked to the place. Extremely classy interiors, courteous staff and delectable food. Each dish was so well presented that ullu had fun clicking them pictures

I've only been here once but this is one meal I'll always remember & unfortunately its for all the wrong reasons.
So lets start off with what we ordered, Sushi, which is pretty great, no complaints about that. Noodles which were also good. Lastly we got the teriyaki chicken, now this was a whole other story. When I cut into the chicken, it was pink & way undercooked, after letting the waitstaff know that the chicken was raw, one waitress took it away only for another one to bring it back but this time with an explanation which went something like, we cook it at medium to rare but I can ask the chef to make it well done.!!!!!!!! Medium to rare!!?? (aka salmonella)
After explaining to them that pink chicken can potentially kill you I was finally given a fresh portion.

I really hope this was a one time thing because the rest of the food was good.

so just check the chicken if you decide to order it

The ambience and location is great . The food is pathetic . It’s a very over hyped place . I tried sushi and some pork dish there but did not like it at all .

This is a great place to eat. Service and Food are 1st Class. We will come here again. We had a party of four and had a good time here. All the employees were happy and wanted to help.

Nagai has by far been one of the most exquisite restaurants for some Japanese fare. The moment I entered, I was blown away by the beautiful paintings that really brought about the interiors of the place. What I loved the most was the personalised service provided. The staff will be more than willing to help you with the menu and pick the best.I opted for the chef signature tasting menu and a couple of additional things from the menu. It had a lot of exciting options to choose from. The first course kickstarted with Tom Yum soup. It was nice and tangy and not overly spicy. The second course included Chicken Gyoza. They were super juicy and I gobbled all of them up within seconds. The third course consisted of the Rainbow Roll. Not only was it crafted perfectly, it tasted kickass too.I then moved to Prawn Tempura and that too was mind blowing. The Salmon Teriyaki will make you lick every bit of your plate.Wrapped the meal with the dark chocolate semifreddo with chocolate and cinnamon and it made it the perfect ending. Also tried the Matcha Green tea Tiramisu and I wasn’t disappointed.

Best restaurant I've ever visited. The place is so beautiful and the ambience is very good. Though the rates are a bit higher but the food is very delicious. A must try place.

The food was a classic authentic Japanese food!
I tried almost every item of the course suggested by the staff and it was truly delicious. A must visit place for all Japanese cuisine lovers.

Have dined in at their outlet and now ordered in... the sushi’s are outstanding and by far the best sushi’s in Gurgaon...we had the California roll, spicy sushi roll, salmon roll and the asparagus Avacado roll... couldn’t find a flaw from quality of food alongside the fresh gari and wasabi to the packaging standards. Kudos to the team at Nagai.

One of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to. Wide variety of sushi. Service is attentive and good. I ordered Grilled Asparagus and Avocado Roll, veg Dragon Roll, spicy crispy Avocado, crispy salmon roll. All of them were very tasty 😋 But my fav was grilled Asparagus and Avocado Roll.
And for the main course we ordered Japanese chicken curry 🍛 and Teppanyaki Pork Rib with Ginger and Garlic sauce... Japanese chicken curry was bit sweet. We asked them to make it little bit spicy. The staff was very friendly and made it as we wanted and gave us complementary rice 🍚
• Nagai is a great option for Japanese food in Gurgaon.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
- visited with Kanchi Sharma
Our experience at Nagai was exceptionally good. The food was extremely well cooked. The pork was very soft. The sushi had excellent flavour and was melt in moth. The green tea matcha was great. The semifrado was nice. The rice tea was awesome. The ambience was quite nice and soothing. It was all very authentic. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody who enjoys authenticity.

The experience we had in Nagai was amazing. The food was exceptional especially the pork which was very well cooked. Their sushi was mind blowing and melt in the mouth...the ambience too was quite nice and soothing. The flavours were authentic and the tea was from Japan which gave it a nice touch. Would recommend this restaurant to all who love to try new flavours.

Walked out of the restaurant after 60 mins of waiting. Requested the waiters/ manager but still wasn’t served any food. Pathetic management. Avoid visiting

Its Sunday 2:52pm, we have been sitting here for an hr, the restaurant isn’t even fully occupied and there is no food on our table. Its safe to say they are in over their heads! How this place rated at 4.5 is beyond my understanding.

I went in a group of 3. We started off with Red and White wines, with myself opting for a Red Merlot. For course 1 I went for the Miso Soup with Seaweed. The Miso was the usual self, full-bodied, always giving the sense of being an accompaniment rather than a full-on item. Next up, we opted for a set including Chicken Gyoza, Chicken Skewers in Teriyaki Sauce and caramelized Lotus roots. Along with this we were given a selection of Sushis- salmon, tuna and chicken. All this was good, but the best was yet to come, which was the Pork Belly with Daikon in Cinnamon and Ginger sauce. Japanese cuisine tends to keep the pork fat in the cuisine much like Indian pork items, unlike western or south-east Asian variations which use it as a cooking medium. Along with this we had the 'Yaki Udon' or japanese style noodles. This was a fine combination. To top it all, we went for the dessert where we ordered 3 items so all could savour from each others'. One was the Matcha Green Tea Tiramisu, another Dark Chocolate Gelato and finally there was a coconut based semifreddo. This was the highlight of the dessert. Quantities were lavish and the chef herself came down to meet us. Overall, this is a must visit for people willing to explore different cuisines.

Packaging was perfect ,Ordered n.v assorted sushi platter & it was really good . If u have friends over, or having craving for sushi, call Nagai...

Delivery packaging looks great BUT the Double Salmon Roll & California Caviar Roll were HORRIBLE. The crab tasted extremely stale and the salmon topping on the double salmon roll was horrendously prepared. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. NEVER TRYING AGAIN. Felt like I was eating a bunch of chemical laced rolls. (Couldn't finish the rolls)

P.S. The 1.0 is for the packaging alone.

Absolutely loved it! Yum taste and absolutely beautiful presentation.

Working in Gurgaon and living in Delhi means I never feel like travelling to Gurgaon for a meal. So when our wedding anniversary happened to be on a Thursday, my husband suggested we try out Nagai, coz he had heard good reviews. So try we did, and boy did we love it!
The place is nice looking, done tastefully and spacious.
Highly recommend a visit to Nagai the next time you are in the mood for food from the land of the rising sun.

Having heard a great deal about this place, I finally visited Nagai with a friend to try out some of their amazing Japanese offerings.
The interiors are quite clean cut and minimalistic. There is one section with traditional seating and the rest is a usual fine dining arrangement. A cool toned color scheme is followed through out and the accessories kept at the minimum. There are a couple of murals on the walk reflecting the geisha tradition of Japan and a few other pieces of art adorning the walls.

Being a cold winter day, we decided to start our meal with a Tom yum chicken soup which arrived quickly and was light but warm.

Next we decided to try some kushiyaki chicken skewers and chicken gyōza dumplings. The pan fried dumplings were presented beautifully and were quite juicy. The sticky chicken skewers were very flavorsome.

Next arrived a gorgeous sushi platter that was nothing short of a feast. We tried some crispy avacado and babycorn, spicy salmon and king prawn dragon rolls. My favorite was surprisingly the vegetarian avacado and tempura sushi.

For mains we tried some pork belly and salmon teriyaki. The pork with the jasmine rice was quite fragrant, predominantly of Cinnamon.
The salmon was cooked to perfection and went perfectly with the salad and mash.

For dessert, we had a pleasantly sweet matcha green tea Gelato and a lovely dark chocolate and Cinnamon semifreddo.

To conclude the meal and help digest better after this enormous feast, we had some green tea.

Overall, Nagai is a great option for Japanese food in Gurgaon with enthusiastic staff and a nice wholesome experience.
Delicious food and great service. We ordered Dragon Roll and Salmon. Both were exceptionally fresh and flavourful. Definitely going back for more!!

I am in two minds as I write this review. I ordered a pork soba noodle bowl today and honestly was sub-par, the only reason this is a 3.5 is that I remember a dinner there where the tempura was wonderful ...... but today a disaster. So I would give it another try, but a good restaurant ideally should not have bad days.

Japanese cuisine has long attracted enormous attention around the world. Aside from the awesome aesthetics and the food quality, the freshness and taste of the delicate flavours of Japan continues to leave Gurugram wanting more.

The best Japanese fine dine restaurant to date in Gurgaon. I had a dinner here with my colleague last week. The experience was simply awesome. Everything from Decore to lighting, to the ambiance, had a very positive vibe. The was decoration reminds you of a Japanese culture.

I had Japanese cuisine at some other places in Delhi but this was simply mind-blowing. Their wine collection is equally great.

My recommendations -
Miso Soup(Seaweed)
Gyoza - Chicken
Sushi
King Prawn Dragon Roll
Rainbow Roll
Spicy Salmon
Salmon Carpaccio with Chilli

Pork Belly - Must have
Salmon Teriyaki
Yaki Udon

The place is slightly expensive but worth every penny.
