I like the food, it's different from others but little bit spicy. Overall it's good but it's only on delivery option

This hidden gem made our valentine's day super-duper delicious on Friday 14th Feb. We were 10 people and reached their for lunch around 12:30, but there was a waiting kind of situation because most of the seats were occupied, and their service is a bit slow too. But the food made us forget the waiting time, it was superrr delicious and made to perfection. We ordered Chicken Shahi and Badami, Mushk kebabs, Darra, and Biryani. Each and every item was so much excellent. Especial mention to Biryani Khas, as this is the real taste and texture of Biryani and that too prepared using Mutton on Bones..... Unforgetable taste and quality... keep this quality consistent!!!!

As someone on Google said, this is absolutely the best place in entire NCR when it comes to Mughlai food. In this era, these guys are serving vintage era recipes. First, the best impression is the wooden furniture and white table covers, then, say the most important point is a very selective menu, just 10-12 items are there. And above all, the taste of the food itself explains its secrets. We booked their hall for 37 foodies on 13th Feb, 2020 to celebrate birthday of my niece. Murgh Shahi and Murgh Badami were on our list in chicken that were outstanding chicken dishes, Ishtu Shirazi and Darra were mutton items that were unique, outstanding, amazing... Biryani Khas, an out of the world mutton biryani... Mushk was there in Kebabs that were mind blowing... Benazeer Paneer and Mushroom Bilpak, and Biryani Sabz were for vegetarians that made vegs super happy... One thing what I noted that not a single guest have any complaint, but each and everyone applauded the quality of the food.

The location that they are operating from (DLF Phase 3, Gurgaon) have zero visibility to new customers though the setup is too peaceful and nice looking.

The best place for authentic chicken and mutton dishes in all of NCR! Unfortunately they are moving in January 2020, which means we may have to drive all the way to Rampur where they will set up their new restaurant in UP 😋 Absolutely love this place.
Aditi
I absolutely love their food.

Veg: Mushroom bilpak is theeeeee bessttttt dish they have (in all menu). I don't eat mushroom anywhere expect their mushroom bilpak.

Non-veg: Chicken Bedami and Mutton darra are the best. Start with chicken badami and then go for mutton darra.

Their chatapis are the world's best chapatis.

The only complaint I have is with the quantity. The quantity is really very less in that much price.

Plus, the taste of shahi tudka is good. But as things here are not freshly prepared so the bread is not crunchy. It becomes a little soggy.

Please try to improve upon that.
Aditya
Gr8 food.. the place is modest but the food is totally amazing.. authentic mughlai food and they serve hot phulkas which adds to the taste. Its a must try for non-veg lovers.. only downside is the quantity of food is limited.. still the taste makes up for it

One of the most delicious dine-out of my life, today at Aiwan E Shahi. We were a team of fourteen, two vegetarians, and twelve hardcore non vegetarians. Almost all of my colleagues were first timers to Aiwan E Shahi, except me and a friend. Honestly, I too visited this outlet vey first time. A large table was given, accommodating all of us comfortably. We were there around 2 pm, and were a bit scared seeing the rush. Almost all the tables were occupied except the one reserved for us. Our booking was done two days in advance, and we pre-ordered the items. Because of the rush, our serving started around after half an hour of our arrival. We all were badly hungry, and the flavors of food around were making us uncontrollable. As per the management’s suggestions, to keep the taste buds neutral, we even not asked them for soft drinks.

Our order was Kebab Mushk, Ishtu Shirazi, Qorma Pakhtun, and Biryani Khas, for non vegetarians. For Vegetarians, Benazeer Paneer dish, and Bilpak was ordered.

Kebab Mushk, a kind of galawati (soft) kebabs, was mind blowing, out of the world. Perfectly balanced flavors and spices. Everyone loved it soooo much…

Ishtu Shirazi – a mutton dish, was another out of the world item. This was completely different stew. It is a must try dish..

Qorma Pakhtun – also a mutton dish. Look-wise, it was a simple gravy based item, but once you take its first bite, it will take you to a different world. What a brilliant flavor, we all were stunned with its taste and aroma. The fresh and hot phulkas, arriving one by one, took its taste to the extreme. Very very unique preparation.

Biryani Khas – a mutton biryani, was an specialty in itself. Every here and there, Biryanis are being served with raita, salan, onions, etc. But this Biryani is really Khas, as it does not demand any raita or salan. As per their suggestions, most of us took it with hands, the real way of eating Biryani. It was the most delicious biryani, we have tried yet. Every bite was a rewarding experience.

Both the vegetarians too were so much happy with the food. Their feedback was that they did not had such a tasty paneer and mushroom dishes ever.

We ended our meal with the Shahi Tukda. It was really royal, look wise and taste wise, both. I personally have tried Shahi Tukda at many places, but this was matchless.

Aiwan E Shahi is really a heaven for mughlai foodies. But avoid visiting, if you are on a very tight time schedule. They take time. Service is slow. But that is ok, when the food itself and the way they serve results in a rewarding experience.

Many thanks to all you guys, from all of us!!!

Worst restaurant i have ever gone to. The owner is a adamant person and is full of attitude. Hated the experience. Very bad worst. Microwaved food is given at super high price.
Bhavya Mehra
Third class service. Illiterate person was handling the counter. Microwave'd food was being served and when questioned one boy immediately agreed and another one straightaway denied. Moreover stupid guy was adamant to not serve onions with their third class food.

Honestly no sane human with little self respect would like to ever visit this restaurant. Our culture requires that no one is denied a glass of water, when they ask for it. This restaurant does not even provide an option of plain or mineral water, u r literally forced to buy a bottle of water..The management is definitely rude..rather very rude. Not only this, they deny u additional onions or chutney with the food. All this is done to make you relish the taste of the dish especially prepared for you..so what if you want to alter the taste a little, are we free to choose or develop our taste?
Why don't they stop home delivery services? Else how would they ensure the taste of their specially cooked food for consumers at home, bcz they have freedom to eat more chutney n onions ...
So many restrictions and hiccups for food i.e. sometimes not even available. If eating is considered an experience this would be the worst place for someone to visit..the unnecessary argument would make u think y am I event spending money...bcz forget the taste but the ugly experience would stay with you for long.

Awsm food tried Qorma pakhtun ,delicious aromatic and properly cooked mutton , good food please maintain the quality will order soon again .
Richa Saxena
I tried Qorma Pakhtun for the first time from this restaurant. And am so impressed by the taste, the way mutton was cooked. Simply awesome it was. Exact taste of a Mughali food.
I just want to appreciate Aiwan E Shahi for their cooking skills and the final dish that they serve !!
It indeed is the best restaurant in Mughali food and the food is yummy !
A must try restaurant for sure !!
Just loved it :)

This little gem serves authentic awadi food. The taste will just blow you away. Its a very small place but packs a punch. The dishes are very unique as there are not many places that serve good awadi food.

Now coming to the food, chicken badami is their best dish. Even though they say it serves 2, it's so tasty that I end up finishing it alone. Their Biriyani is another notable mention. Its different and yet so good. Mutton korma though isn't that great.

The service here is very slow. But the staff are very courteous and knowledgeable. They even recommend you the correct sequence of having the dishes. Their recommendations are spot on!!

The price is bit on the higher side. Personally, I feel its worth every penny. So if you are in the mood to have soul satisfying food and are ready to splurge, Aiwan E Shahi is the place to be!

First time in my life I was told to leave a restaurant because I wanted to take coke from outside as it didn't have any (a restaurant without coke!!!).
What kind of a human being asks customers to leave a restaurant?
May God bless Aiwan E Shahi as "blessings" might be the only thing left and no business. May you lose your business and arrogance soon!
We went there on the recommendation of a friend and find it absolute heaven for non veg lover. As we haik from Lucknow, it is very difficult for us to for any restaurant to impress but Aiwan e shahi is just amazing . We loved each and every dish of theirs.
Food + Love = Aiwan E Shahi🥇

Whatever you order here has it’s unique taste; whether it is Istu Sheraji, Murg Shahi or Murg Badami.

I would say if you don’t like their taste, your taste buds needs to be checked 😉

This must be a HEAVEN for Non Vegetarians

We are really grateful to Google for suggesting us this heaven.

After visiting it thrice in less than a week, we tried a few items of their compact menu. But whatever we have had is unique and it left an impression on your mind.

Biryani Khas, a mutton Biryani:- All the hyderabad, lucknow, delhi based biryanis we were eating, should not be categorized as biryanis, after eating the Khas one. Have you ever eaten any biryani without salan or raita? Experience the Khas Biryani. But, as these guys says that Khas Biryani is not for spoon eaters, it is for Tigers, the ones who know the real way of eating biryani by hand.

Qorma Pakhtun:- Mind blowing, spicy qorma. Taking it with their absolutely plain hot tawa rotis, is a rewarding experience.

Darra:- no words to explain its deliciousness. Amazing...

Ishtu Shirazi:- Mild spicy mutton preparation that is an speciality in itself. Don’t miss it...

Kebab Mushk:- Very delicious kebabs... soft.. heavenly flavour.....

WARNING:::::: Do not go ordering in a haphazard manner, but trust and follow their guidelines religiously. You will surely not regret.

Ambiance: It is a cosy, peaceful, and a no-nonsense place, only for deserving foodies. Yes, ONLY for DESERVING people. Because, not everyone deserves white table cloths. Sorry to say, but, I have seen a group of corporate guys sitting on a nearby table, spilling gravy on table’s cover carelessly.

Service: Sequential, and slow.

All the legendaries, like old Delhi’s Karim, Pandara Road’s Gulati, and the big brands like ITC Dum Pukht, ITC Bukhara, are doing really great job and doing a great favour to us by serving some unique, lip-smacking recipes.

Aiwan e Shahi, located at DLF Phase 3, Gurgaon, has raised the bar of competition such that all the legendaries, non-legendaries, and all the big brands working in this field should learn from these guys. One should experience and learn what is really meant by the words “real taste”, “authentic”, "out of the world", "heavenly", ...

Kebab Alborz, Mushk & Zai: The Awadhi galauti chefs must learn that there is a heaven beyond just dumping itra and/or kewra in kebabs. The guys at Aiwan e Shahi says and they really meant it, if any one fragrance is dominating then there is something wrong with the recipe. I have had kebabs at lots of places, including the most famed names of Lucknow, but none of them impressed me as much as Aiwan e Shahi does. There is a proper, heavenly blend of herbs and spices. Moreover, no sour burps or heaviness kind of after-effects.

Qorma Pakhtun, oily at the first look due to excess bone-extract, is the one you must try.

Biryani Khas, a rare variety of mutton biryanis. Very-very tasty. When you eat it, you ask yourself - is it spicy?.., your answer will be no... Then ask whether you need it to be spicy.., your answer again will be no... It is really a majestic blend.

The same feedback holds for other items too.

Even if you are not able to visit them repeatedly, just follow their suggestions of ordering a very limited varieties at a time. Only then you’ll be able to experience and enjoy each and every item.

Aiwan e shahi is a hidden gem in the middle of Gurgaon. Situated right next to the city, where there are already a billion other competitive food joints, this place truly takes the cake away. With their authentic Awadhi food and the ways and means to eat it, we highly recommend you to go their at least once and eat almost everything off their menu. Our special favourite is the mutton darra, a minced mutton semi gravy dish with green chillies in it. The aroma and the preparation of the dish in lots of ghee makes it extremely delicious. Don’t expect a fancy layout or interiors. The place gives you homely and you’ll feel all the warmth of the staff in the great food they have to offer.

For more such food reviews, follow us on Instagram & Facebook : twohangrywomen

Food is awesome. So would have certainly given 5 star. But, many items given in menu were unavailable. So couldn’t go for something that I came for. Also, rigidity in terms of not giving onions/salad looks weird.

A must try if you are on in Gurgaon and have mughlai on your mind...and not much fussy on the ambience part of it.Special recommendation to try out chicken sondh
A GEM FOUND BY LUCK

After the very first visit to Aiwan e Shahi, I was not believing on myself and was a bit confused on how can a food be so delicious and cooked to ultimate perfection at any restaurant. I regularly visited for the next few days trying different dishes, each time returning more confused due to the uniqueness and greatness of each of their preparations. But, then a few questions aroused in my mind:

When their food is ultimate then WHY IS THIS RESTAURANT UNDER-RATED??? Why not there are lots of reviews??? Why this place is not visible to the so-called connoisseurs of Zomato????

When I talked to the manager of Aiwan e Shahi in this regard, the answer was - “we are just focusing on product quality, not marketing”.

These guys are really mad (sorry). They are unaware of their own worth. If such kind of food is being served anywhere in Delhi, there must be an unending queue of foodies waiting for their turn.

ABOUT FOOD: Mutton or Chicken curries, or Biryani, or Kebabs, and even their desserts, everything is superb and has no match. The reason is that they are following the age-old recipes, religiously, without any compromise. Moreover, they are serving these items the way it should be. The ego of some DEBUTANT foodies might hurt seeing the guidelines they have placed at the dining tables. Whether it is Ishtu Shirazi, or Murgh Shahi, or Quorma Pakhtun, or Darra, or Biryani, or Armand, everything is superrrrr delicious.

MY RECOMMENDATIONS: Go for dining during their evening hours, and just trust and follow their suggestions about selecting the items from the menu, its sequence, salad, chutni, etc. If they are suggesting not taking soft drinks, or onions, or chutni, keep your ego aside for that day, and enjoy the food in its pure form. Rating: 5/5

AMBIANCE: Decent, Sober, and a Perfect match with the Mughlai cuisine. One of the best wooden dining sets, and crockery. White everywhere, a peaceful, clean and hygienic environment. Minimal staff, no staring eyes, no music, just focus on your food. Rating: 5/5

SERVICE: The way they serve, is really appreciable. They serve their food with full honesty, and it looks that they love their food more. But, that is the beauty. The service remains slow. Rating: 4/5

VALUE for MONEY: Each of the items is invaluable. Whatever price they are quoting is very-very less, compared to the effort they are investing in bringing out those delicacies. Rating: 5/5

This place was suggested by few of my colleagues. Almost everyday, I used to hear about this place, so finally I decided to try it.
Firstly, I respect how they serve there customers. After every minute you see hot chapatti being served on the table. It feels like eating at home.

Big big fan of there Badami chicken. Chicken was tender and juicy. Also tried there Qorma pakhton which was super oily but taste wise, it was amazing. Murg Shahi was another great chicken dish here.

You will never get onions or any soft beverage with your meal here because the idea is to enjoy flavours in every bite you eat. Mentioned this because, I realised few of there customer didn't like the tradition that they are following.

Menu is compact but everything here is mind-blowing.

Very close to DLF building no.5 in DLF phase 3.
Must try this.
Again *Highly Recommend*

P.S. As I mentioned that the food here is mind-blowing, eventually I forgot to click pictures. 😋

This place is for someone who can appreciate the essence of food prepared. The menu is compact and they serve according to their self made norms, which might rattle you up. If for a change you can go according to their style of eating, try this joint. You will either stick to it for long or end up posting a negative one on social networks.

Despite the fact being one of the most regulars at Aiwan e Shahi from the last around 2 years, I never “dared” to review them.

Aiwan e Shahi (ऐवान – ए – शाही) - a place for royals, that is what the name says. The name has its own weight and a beauty in itself, but one that is hard to be grasped by a common person. A gorgeous dining hall, with decent furniture, and a thoughtful arrangement, with a comfortable seating capacity for at least 50 people, but a COMPACT MENU having just 10 to 12 items.

Aiwan e Shahi is the real custodian of Mughlai recipes. Due to a gossip, spread by pseudo Mughlai chefs, there is a general thinking that Mughlai food contains a lots of herbs and spices, a lot of oil/ghee, a lots of dry-fruits, and so on. We should remember that Mughals were one of the most-fit soldiers. Their health advisors would have never allowed the food that makes them fat and lazy, or that is hard to digest. Meat is the best source of protein and other vital elements. Spices are used to enhance its taste, not to overpower and suppress the meat’s own taste and benefits. Aiwan e Shahi has broken the (false) myth and restored the originality of the Mughlai cuisine. Aiwan e Shahi’s food is a perfect example of those recipes that are tasty, healthy, and light on tummy.

Biryani Khas, a mutton biryani. This biryani is totally unique. Often we notice that a Biryani (taken from some other joint) have a strong application of Kewra, or at some other places it is dominated by Saffron. The beauty here at Aiwan e Shahi is that their biryani has all these ingredients, but there is a blend, without allowing any one ingredient to dominate.

Qorma Pakhtun, an out-of-the-world qorma. It leaves its aroma and taste on your mind, even after leaving the dining tables.

Darra – Be aware, this might make you addict ;)

Murgh Shahi, Murgh Badami, Ishtu Shirazi – One of the reviewers very correctly said that “curries cannot be better than these”. He is perfectly right. I have no words to appreciate these preparations too.

Kebabs – Almost everywhere, the kebabs are being prepared using minced lungs, heart, and other sub-standard meat, and then a strong dose of aromatic herbs is applied to suppress the unwanted smell of that meat. But, the kebabs at Aiwan e Shahi are exceptional, excellent, brilliant, made using the correct portion of meat…..

The thing that I appreciate the most is their non-compromising behavior. They are maintaining the quality consistently.

Keep going on the same path!!!

Again, all the best……

Repeatative instances where lady on the call doesn't take order either due to cash payment or delivery is not possible... Least bothered to arrange for cash change or check the address for the delivery...

I don't know why these guys have an attitude and for what , there dishes doesn't taste like Shahi ... They should go and learn to Lucknow or awadhi region to get understanding on the awadhi .

In the service industry one has to understand the customers need , if we want onion with our dishes that's our need you cannot tell us that's not recommended , am I going through a doctor's medicine or food which is not recommended.

Rigid attitude , we just asked to add onion in our order .

I won't recommend any one to visit and had a bad experience . Onion is a very nominal thing one cannot suggest what to eat and what not to eat .
Aman
This is the one and only one restaurant that can be called a Mughlai foodies’ heaven. From ambience to food to service, everything is a perfect example of how Mughlai food should be prepared and served. Often people think and assume that just eating non-veg is same as eating Mughlai food. A newbie to Mughlai food may take their suggestions as restrictions, but a “Mughlai-by-generations” guy will surely appreciate them and will see those guidelines as a gentle reminder of the correct way of having Mughlai food.

Aiwan e Shahi has set a benchmark for all those who say that they are serving Mughlai food. The honesty of management can be seen in their menu, where each and every point is specified clearly.

I have tried food of the famed Karim’s (Jama Masjid), ITC Dum Pukht, Gulati, and biryanis from some popular names, but food of none of them excited me ever to write a review. And, for a place where food is being prepared and served, I do not want to write a negative review. This is the first time I am writing a review, and that is for Aiwan e Shahi. There is no item in their non-veg menu that I have not tried. And, believe me, there is no single item that I can recommend. Each and every item is really unique, and one must follow the suggestions of the servers/management. You will not regret for sure. I have even tried those items that are not in their menu currently. There was a dal called Noori that was one of the unique gems. But they removed it from their menu giving the reason that people are not that much literate about Mughlai cuisine.

We had gone to Aiwan e Shahi last Saturday for dinner. We have been ordering food from here quite often but since there are items in the menu that they don't deliver, we made the pilgrimage.

Unfortunately, it would have been better if we had stayed back and ordered.

What was good:
The food was as good as always.

What was okay:
The location is out of the way, but we had expected it.

A lot of things that I had imagined I would eat were not available. Only one of the four kebabs was available. The rest that was available and that we ordered (murg soandh, ishtu shirazi, biryani) is the same as can be delivered to our homea. So there was limited point to go all the way. And yes, the menu uploaded on Zomato does say that not every item is expected to be available all the time, so I guess it's our fault. Caveat Emptor.

What was terrible:
The only two staff that we saw were two boys, one of them around twelve year old and one of them around ten year old. Maybe a bit older. We considered leaving when we came in and didn't see anyone else. However, we then felt guilty about potential consequences on the two if we leave after coming in. Who knows whose fault will the management think it is? And we also hoped that someone else will come in and we can discuss and complain about this.

Unfortunately, nobody else came in through the hour that we were there. Only two children.

We left with a bad taste in our mouth. We felt that we had exploited someone. And we had.

I have thought about calling the management, given our previous history, but feel that is a big enough issue to raise here.

Hence this review.

This is an Oasis of hospitality in the desert of rude/ill mannered staff that you usually have come to expect whenever going out for a meal in the famed Gurugram. Plz prepare yourself to be taken aback by the courteous and well mannered staff, the owner who's still not well-versed with the quick profiteering mindset that prevails everywhere these days, the laid back service and the simple menu options. While they won't offer you a whole lot of fancy breads(they only serve tawa phulkas most days) and won't serve you the customary onion salad (unless you order mutton darra with which they will serve onions), the food is as authentic as it comes. They follow the Rampur cuisine. Of course, the Delhite ego will suffer a dent once you've read the instructions placard kept on the table(which discourages consumption of cold drinks as it dulls the palate), but, if you can manage to order and wait for the food to arrive, the moment you dig into the meal, you will know what Nirvana literally means. Super succulent kebabs, awesome kormas, the mutton darra and stew are dishes worth dying and killing for. Post the gluttony, if you still aren't dead then their sweetmeats will take you to foodie's heaven. Do meet the polite and soft-spoken owner to thank him for the trip to foodie's heaven.
This place is now my fortnightly eating out option. Writing the reveiw has given me a craving.....

Super Duper food... Hot tawa rotis... and a food to die for.. clean and tidy place. Feel at home when u be to Aiwan E Shahi. Great Hospitality. They want to serve u good food that u can enjoy. So no soft drinks available 😜. Enjoy the place and the food with family. Lovely time

Great food, really unique and cleanly made.
I havent had authentic mughlai ever so I am assuming this is it. A bit expensive but absolutely worth it plus the staff is very polite.
Loved all the non-veg dishes especially the mutton. Did'nt really try the veg stuff.
But the desserts are really something and a must have.

Its a small place located in cyber city, they serve good muglai food , with tawa rotis. The food was good but the quantity is less as compared to their price.
Sapan Srivastav
The food quality is awesome, I was a big fan of the place. In our circle this place was the one and only goto option whenever we wanted to have good meal. But the restrictions and rules they impose forcefully on the customers is the not at all acceptable. If a customer's wants to have onion, chutney or cold drink with a meal then they should respect their choice. They are free to give suggestions but they should not impose their rules on others. Male owner is very friendly and understanding but the female owner is very rude and unfriendly.
I was a regular customer of this place. But now have completely stopped visiting this place. Even we suggested many of our friends to try out this place. But I regret as their service does not deserves this. Even after having such good food quality they will ruin everything with this attitude
Grand name, small place but good nonveg dishes - that's the first impression of this popular restaurant in DLF Phase3, behind RBS building. My colleagues had highly recommended this place but also warned me about the strict rules which might put one off.
As expected, both the dishes we ordered - Mutton Darra & Qorma Pakhtun were cooked very well. Served with fresh hot phulkas, they tasted delicious!
However if you want to eat the gravy dish with rice, you will be disappointed.According to the restaurant owner, rice would not be served as it spoils the taste of the dish! Similar restrictions on soft drinks(not 'allowed' here),onions and chutney (selectively offered). Weird logic and not appreciable at all in the hospitality business! Based on his experience & expertise,he should definitely recommend/ suggest the best accompaniments but should not force his choices down the customers' throat. After all its my choice whether I want to eat the Pakhtun with rice or roti!
Anyways when we wanted to try the kebabs and biryani,we were informed they were out-of-stock (at 1:15-1:30pm no less!!).Got the same response for desserts. Taken aback as the restaurant opens around 12:30 for lunch,we were advised to call in and check in advance before coming!!
To be honest, whatever we tried, the food quality was great but the service/attitude needs to improve.May be home delivery would be a better experience than dining-in.

It was the best food I've had in months and the freshly made chapaties makes it much much better. Best place in phase 3 if you crave for chicken!!
Tanu

Undoubtedly my best gastronomic experience happened here. From the moment I sat for the first bite till the last bite, I was transported to a different world altogether. Freshly made rotis, succulent mutton, the warmth of the place. I have no words. Strongly recommended!! If food was heaven, and was to be found- Clearly, this is the place!

PS: don't expect fancy stuff at all.

This place was recommended to my friend and me. The food here is great. We both liked the korma pakhtun, delicious and full of flavour. Since it was our first time the waiter suggested the Biryani Khas which was also great. Prices are reasonable and the dish was medium spicy.
Bhawna Dubey
We just went there for a trial and I swear I could say it was a discovery for great mughlai taste. We ordered murgh badami. Although it seemed less quantity for 2 people but I must say it was really stomach filling served with hot rotis. They have their own rules and regulations so don't ask for onions salads or chutneys as they say that is how mughlai food is enjoyed. We however followed their instructions and had a great foodgasm.
Swati Garg
it was my first visit today and boy was i surprised!
my friends drag me there saying its a must try..
its a small place set up in a room but they have this set of rules for having mughlai food!
- Please dont ask for Coke
- Mughlai has no starters
- Keep ur phone aside
- If we have not served chutney that means the food is best eaten like that

i admire them for their sincerity towards food!
The food is served with home made phulkas which add a lot of freshness to the meal
Its a must go for non vegetarians as the chicken is tender and well cooked..the gravy is out of the world!

The server does not even engage with the tips! hats off to such standards!
#respect

Have tried murgh badami and biryani khas and both were great in taste. Albeit a bit oily so it's not go well down your throat! The quantity is mediocre but the quality more than makes up for it. Must visit if you want to try pretty different non vegetarian food in Mughlai genre!

My manager and I went here for lunch. Reason behind trying out this place was its fabled mutton and spices - all hearsay till we arrived.

It's a small place with 4 tables, slightly difficult to identify for the first time. They've one guy who serves on all tables. However, this guy manages his workload well and was able to serve us in a short turn around time.

We tried -

Darra- spicy and tasty
Kabab Mushk - try them as is. Tasty
Qorma Pakhtun - very spicy, good

A good place for meat and spice lovers.

Just Like Movies - Remember those old flicks where the dad gets goodies for his kids while coming back from work, well Aiwan E Sahi is just that for the both of us.

We keep telling our dad bring us their super delicious Biryani Khas and Ishtu Shirazi. Both these delicacies are lip smackingly yummy. The brilliant ginger chutney served with the Biryani is a surprise worth the wait. The Ishtu Shirazi is hotter than our normal chilly standards yet we love to have it with rotis.

I wish they had an outlet in South Delhi. This would be our regular B-place then.

You gotta try this yummy in my tummy place of flavours! 💖

One of the best mughlai food in delih/gurgaon. Its a place which has been least explored in DLF cyber city. Right behind DLF building No. 5 lies this tiny restaurant Aiwan E Shahi. A must visit for people who are fond of authentic food.

Everything about this place is so authentic whether its the detailing in the menu, servings, piping hot food. Small place, has limited capacity so if you reach late there are chances you won't get a place to sit.
A few dishes must try are chicken shahi, mutton quorma. For vegetarians benazir paneer. All dishes are served with hot steaming chapatis. Yes there are no fancy breads. Every dish is crafted keeping in mind the authenticity of the cuisine.

They make you feel at home and excellent hospitality.

Must Must visit.

I along with my family visited this place on a quaint Saturday afternoon which I came to know about via word of mouth. The place is small, cozy and homely while the food is delicious.

We had the Armand and Ishtu Shirazi which were sumptuous served with tawa rotis. I really liked the description of each dish on the menu and the small facts about Mughlai cuisine on the table.

The server was incredibly courteous and welcoming which further amplified the experience of dining here.

Must visit!

5/5

The best food i had in a long long time! Loved the passion of the team at the restaurant. Just go and experience the mind blowing food. Amit Sikdar and I ordered 3 things from the menu and each dish was an experience in itself. Amazing amazing food... a must must visit.
Amit Sikdar
Kabab Alborz
Armand
Korma Pakhtun
Just as rare as these names, are the flavours at this restaurant! Just 4 tables with 4 seats each, modest interiors, difficult location.....but the food makes up for all of it and then leaves you with an experience worth the 4.5 out of 5 kind of rating.
I've never experienced such bright and well defined flavours. The passion of the team behind this outlet is evident with the prescriptive placard on each table that advises you on how to eat the food being served to you. They actually decline delivery of certain food items stating that the item doesn't taste like it should once it cools down and is reheated.
The owner, Mr. Iqbal, actually came to us after we placed the order and told us that we've ordered too much and we should consider cancelling one item.
It is a totally delightful experience!!
We finished all of the food we ordered. I really wish them all the success. This restaurant is a must visit. I'm already thinking about going back.

The best place in entire gurgaon for non veg mughlai lovers. The limited menu ensures that you will get the best quality in whatever you end up ordering. The owners are an absolute delight to talk to as they will give you ample time to explain to you all the nuiances of the dish. Must try: Murgh Sondh.
Ashish Nainwal (ashishnainwal@live.com)
good place to have mughlai and north Indian cuisines. They have a good ambiance and provide quick services. Biryani was delicious and mouth watering. Would love to be there again

Never disappointing ! It's my 6th visit and with family again. The food is yum and finger licking good as always.
Special mention for the Qorma Pakhtun, Murg Saundh and Murg Shahi but what makes it special is the personalised attention and service by its owner Iqbal ji.

This is the best place for North Indian cuisine and worth the visit.. waiting to visit again

One of the best discoveries I have made in terms of finding a great Mughlai restaurant.
This one is my favorite!
Give it a sure shot try if you are a non veg lover or a Mughlai food lover. The food here is just beyond epic!
The ambience is quite family friendly and most of the times you can find families of 3 to 4 having a peaceful dinner here. Pricing is decent.
The food and it's aroma are the winners here any given day!
I have tried the Murg Badaami here which has been one of the best chicken dishes that I have tried up until now.
The Biryani here is also equally good.
Just rely on the Boy here who serves the food. His recommendations are pure gold and truly reliable!
Vishal Mehta
Heavenly delicious food - everything cooked to perfection. Ordered Qorma Pakhtun, Murg Shahi, Murgh Badami , Biryani Khas(Mutton Biryani)

All the dishes were superb and awesome. A homely ambience

Recommended! Not a Miss! Must Try definitely

The curries cannot be any better. Hands down, this is the best place for chicken/mutton lovers! Each and every dish has a different unique taste and we can actually feel the taste of individual ingredients at some point while eating. All the main dishes are delicious, believe me, I have tried their whole menu. Not a very extensive menu, but yeah sufficient enough to accommodate all kind of mughlai dishes.

And yeah, one more thing, the owner is a complete food NAZI! Many times, the owner(not the kid) has restricted me from having, for eg., Onions with qourma paktun, or lemons with murg soandh, he doesn't even have any salad !! xD. But yeah, all that is justified, cause the dishes really taste delicious without all the salad add-ons. Wherein, those are needed, he himself serves it along with the dish. He even changed plates for chicken and mutton. Said that the taste gets mixed !! xD

Only phulke (plain roti) is available as a bread. Nonetheless, it does not hamper the taste. The biryani is extremely spicy and yet too good.

The place is not a great ambient one, although the service is pretty good.
Mohan Kumar
The food is really great!! And the staff is so friendly and courteous. I loved this place. Was eating here almost everyweek for about 2 months while I visited for my work. Will definitely go here if I am in the neighborhood next time.

For those of you think that an awesome Mughlai meal can most certainly make your day no matter what, Aiwan E Shahi is the place where you should be. While the extensive variety of delicacies here is something which is worthy of applauds, it is their Authentic Awadhi dishes which happen to be the USP. The place has a comfortable seating, congenial staff and a nice aura to sit and dine peacefully.

Went here a few days back and had the following-

Qorma Pakhtun

Murgh Shahi

Biryani Khas

Qorma had a handsome portion size, Murgh Shahi was deliciously cooked and the Biryani tasted very fine as well.

I had fun dining at Aiwan-E-Shahi and look forward to visiting it again.

Checked out this place for my Sunday lunch. A cozy place, with minimal items on menu. Since it was my first time I was suggested Ishtu Shirazi, a mutton delicacy. The dish was a delight with regular hot and puffed rotis. The taste was unique and not the reun off the mill gravy. Had my fill and really enjoyed. Worth a try.

If you like authentic muglai chicken, you are fed up eating tomato thickened gravy then this is the place for you. My favourite place for chicken in Gurgaon. Order Murg Sondh or murg Shahi if u want spicy. If you want smooth then order Badaami Murg. Kababs and Biryanis are awesome as well. The ambience is home like. Service is outstanding. Will not suggest for home delivery but for dine in its a must visit place.

How often does it happen that you try a new place for a dine in, and you like the food so much that you end up visiting the next day as well? Rarely, right? This is one such place.

I visited Aiwan e Shahi after reading the reviews, and ended up revisiting the next day. The preparation is truly delectable. We had seekh kabab for starters, and they just melt into your mouth giving a pure mughlai taste. The mutton stew and mutton qorma are one of the best I had in a long time. Add to that, the curry preparations are served with right off the stove tawa chapatis, which adds to the feel of having home cooked food.

The best part is the menu does not come with loads of food items, with each item having more or less the same taste. The menu has select items, each of which has its own unique flavor and taste.

Ratings:
Ambiance: 4/5
Service: 5/5
Food: 5/5

Extensive varieties, authentic cuisines, appreciable food quality, prompt service and a good looking built are some truncate phrases that best sums the entire essence of Aiwan-E-Shahi for me in a nutshell. Be it the delectable Awadhi dishes or the desi North Indian delicacies, Aiwan-E-Shahi is a spot that I will most probably frequent to satiate my traditional food cravings.

Had gone here a few days back and tried out the following-

Murgh Shahi- The pieces were juicy and the flavors added made this preparations highly palatable.

Biryani Khas- Fantastic aroma and a scrumptious taste.

Ishtu Shirazi- Had juicy mutton pieces and tasted very fine with the rotis.

In the end, I found there food worth every single penny that I paid and I very certainly believe that Aiwan-E-
Shahi is one among those great restaurants which are doing their best to make people devour the traditional delicacies from the various Mughlai Zaykas of the country.

FINAL-

FOOD- 4/5

SERVICE- 4/5

VALUE FOR MONEY- 4/5

AMBIENCE AND INTERIORS - 3.5/5

OVERALL- 4/5

Awesome place with great hospitality from the owner who is managing the place as well. It's a 16 cover place so it's quite cosy. The food is extremely good and balanced I.e. Even while being hardcore mughlai it's not oily or has typical onion garlic tomato paste.
The qorma is superb but please do have it at the end else you'll lose the taste for anything else. Shirazi stew also good. The best part is having these with piping hot tawa rotis. All these and very affordable as well
Definitely will return for repeat visits

Food not that great. Ordered Mutton quorma-it was too oily & pieces too small.Didnt like the flavour.
Mutton Ishtu- very sweet & mutton pieces small.
Joon- very spicy mutton liver. Pieces again very small with too much salt & pepper.
Vikas Khoria
Amazing place discovered by surprise. Its not a regular conventional restaurant. Its a place with difference. Small but homely feeling and amazing service. Simple but very clean ambiance. Best thing is the food quality and a unique aroma they have. Taste tell that that the ingredients they choose, specially spices are very carefully handpicked and very authentic.

Only issue for me was being a vegetarian who does not even eat mushrooms, only choice was a paneer dish. I agree their specialty is the meats, but it would be great if they add at least one more vegetarian variety :)
That would be make a good choice for vegetarians as well, specially when you go in groups!

Simply Wow.... I have had Mughlai cuisine before but nothing beats this place. We were craving for biryani n thought of ordering from this place . Menu itself is very well explained and impressive. The person explained us the dishes and recommended a Mutton gravy and biryani. The food was delivered within an hr in excellent Packaging. The food was Simply fingerlicking good. Love the food and would definetly order from here again n again. Thanks guys.

My ratings would be:

Food : 5 /5
Delivery: 5/5
Service call: 5/5
Value for money : 5/5

It's a small restaurant but don't judge a book by it's cover.
Each and every dish you order is unique and different from each other. But the portion of every dish you order is less compared to the prices. Fresh chapatis take it to next level but makes the service slow.
Vishesh Koul
My Second Review. The food is so homely and tasty. The chappatis are succulent and soft.. The owner is a soft spoken guy. The staff is small but very courteous... Great place to dine with your friends and it is easy on the pocket too.
Garima Agarwal
Outstanding flavour. Simple, authentic and deliciousness. Food is on point, spice level it up yourselff. Its not fancy but the food is exceptional and service is friendly. Small place, great place if your missing proper high altitude spices and dishes.

Authentic Mughlai food that taste like home cooked food. Been to this place numerous times and has recommended the same to many friends. Cost is also quite reasonable.

Delicious mughlai food ... Everything is awesome ... Homely feel ... Doesn't look like you are having food in a restaurant ... Must try dil pasand in the end...

We were feeling hungry ,wanted to eat something light but mutton ;) friend suggested to try this bful place and let me tell you the experience was awesome, small place but very hygienic, services were too good too personalised , food they served was too good , we ordered mutton korma and the korma was so authentic that I can bet it was better than what we eat in Lucknow. Superb place must try :)

This came across as a welcome change from the regular butter chicken and kali mirch chicken. Being a fan of mutton, ordered their Ishtu Shirazi (mutton) and a dish called Benazeer (paneer) for my vegetarian friend. Fresh tawa rotis were served with these two. Loved the paneer gravy, even though I'm not a paneer fan. Was really happy with the mutton dish, which had the right mix of spices for my taste. Wish the quantity was more. Surely going to try other things on their menu.
Sanchit Mangal
Menu prepared by them is unique and in detail. The dishes are royal and they taste like one. Team has depth knowledge of their menu. One must follow recommendation given by them in menu. Behaviour of staff is down to earth. Value for money.👍👌
Saurabh Khanduja
Not a much typer. Ate once, and since then this is my Yum place every weekend. You should try Murgh Shahi and Murgh Badami, but if you want to go for extreme spicy one - Murgh Soandh. Loved pretty much all the dishes. Next try will be mutton.
Anshal Vyas
Not as expected, was told the food is spicy and thick gravy ...a friend of mine ordered veg (paneer dish) not worth for vegetarians ..but non veg is in royal style ..less likely to impress people who prefer spicy chicken.

If you are looking for authentic mughalai food this is the place to be. The food is delicious with authentic and natural taste. The owner is passionate about the food he serves and recommends combination of food which will tickle your taste bus. One thing I like about this place is that they do not try to sell the food to make money and there was an instance the owner recommended not to order for any side dishes but just have the biriyani to enjoy the flavor. I would have given a 5 rating but kept it at 4 keeping into consideration the ambiance and location. Overall I am happy with the food experience.
Aseem
Ate last night with two friends. Mutton korma n garam phulkas were delectable n super super tasty. Probably best korma I hv eaten in Gurgaon. Service was gud with owner himself on his toes all the time to please us. Overall, a great dinner and must visit for all Muglai food lovers!!
Akshat
A horrible and frustrating experience. Ordered biryani and after half n hour I was served a mutton gravy. The guy serving argued that we didn't order biryani although we could see that the biryani was served to another customer in front of us. With such poor service and waste of our time or entire experience got spoiled. With such deceitful service not visiting this place again.
Sudhanshu Srivastava
For Non veg lovers, this place is just awesome. You will love Biryani Khas(i.e. Mutton Biryani) from this place for sure. Biryani is one of its kind which you might have never tasted before. You can actually feel the authentic spices and well cooked mutton. And the way food is served here is just wonderful. They take care of you as a valued customer even though if you have visited the place for the first time.
Looking forward to see if Aiwan-e-shahi include tandoori chicken too in their menu.
Thanks.

You guys offer the best non vegetarian in phase 3.keep up the good work .The food is awesome and I would definitely recommend people about it.

Its a good place to dine at whatever non veg they serve is good though the number of dishes are limited, but it is something you would want to have again. The service is good and its a nice and small place

Very often do you find a place with food that reminds you of your home and to add stars u have well maintained hygiene and cleanliness. Murg shahi, MUrg Badami(try with plain chapatis) mutton Biryani are some of the brilliant dishes they serve at amazingly reasonable price. Don't know about the dine in but take away is a mud to try..Keep it up team Aiwan E Shahi😊

I so wanted to write about this place but I was waiting for a dining experience which I had yesterday
As the name suggests, it's something Royal ! Yes indeed it is. This was my second time that I had food from this place. Before this I got it delivered at home. This time I dined there. Small place 4 tables, no music, no decor and that's where it lost 1/2 points. Everything else is perfect.

The owner/manger single handedly manages the show. Very neat and clean ambience is more of a home. The kitchen is partially visible, which again is very clean. Cutleries were again very neat and clean. So if hygiene is the concern then it gets 100 points straight. Now let's talk about food.

I ordered
Ishtu Shirazi: Mildly spiced & Succulent meat pieces in an aromatic light gravy. Wonderful taste.

Kabab Zai: aka mutton seekh kebab: spices were just perfect. Cooking was to perfection. Juicy and tender. It had only one drawback and that was the mutton was too finely minced. One should get shredded feel of the mutton meat while chewing seekh kebabs.

Poori and Roti: As perfect as it could be. The serving time of rotis were a bit slow. However that thing didn't bother me much.

Gullathi: milk sweet. Full of shahi flavours. It was like symphony in my mouth.

Now I'll talk about the home delivery menu:
Qorma Pakhtun: distinct flavour. Cooked with care. Hats off to the chef. Tender and juicy mutton pieces with richer gravy.

Murg Shahi: Again it was unlike any other gravy item in some random restaurant. Taste was absolutely perfect. Even the soul of chicken must have felt great after getting cooked this way.

The most important thing about this place is it reflects care in its food serving and packaging. This will definitely payback someday. I can't wait to see this place expanding and a loooong queue outside waiting for the killer shahi cuisines inside.
To the owner,
Just maintain the standards and it will definitely give handsome returns.
Happy dining folks !!
Manas Tandon
Considering the rating that this place has, i ordered food from here with real high expectations but the taste of the dishes (murg soandh and quorma pakhtun) didn't justify the rating at all (deserved a 2.5 to 3 at Max). Rated 1 because the quantity of chicken soandh was extremely less. Won't be ordering again, ever.
Harshil Dhawan
This review is not about the food. It's about the service. I called them for delivery of their signature product-biryani. It took them 1 hour 20 min to prepare the order and then another 40 min to send it. I called them to discuss the same, they showed me a bad attitude. They argued with me saying that we take an hour to prepare. How can somebody take so much time to prepare? Never going to order from these unprofessional people.
Richa Surjan
We had ordered biryani and kababs, but they were very disappointing. Kababs were dry. Mutton in the biryani was very chewy. In comparison to the food quality, the price was also very high.
Piyush
Simply outstanding food . I think more than food it's about the owner not treating it just as "food" but as an "art". Something that reminds you of food passionate Amitabh in Cheeni Kum.
Swati Rawat
I have ordered from many places in gurgain but I must say that this place servers the best non veg. The amount is less but the food is delicious. The biryani is a bit dry, if they added some gravy or sauce to it.. would be perfect!
Krish Nendu
Don't judge a restro by its looks till you have tried the food, and same can be said about this small restro which is located behind Building Number 5 and RBS building.

They prepare some seriously amazing mughlai food. All of the available the preparations are really different and special from each other. The only disadvantage is there is very few options available for veg guys. For better customer satisfaction, order in advance and then come to save some time. I really liked their Biryani which is not like the common biryani available in Delhi NCR.
Sonam Nagpal
A very different place, the ambience gives a feeling that you are sitting in your home & having dinner with family on dining table, but feels nice.
The service was good, hygiene is greatly taken care of.
We tried their paneer, which was differently good. Differently 'coz it gave so many flavours in just one bite. The roti served were just classic, crisp & at the same time soft as well...
Mutton biryani we had was just amazing, again full of flavours.
And most amazing was their mirchi ki chatni, very spicy but yum.
Overall nice & homely experience.
Tanya Sahay
A bit expensive, but I would say it's kind of worth it. Degh kebab is truly heavenly. Cooked for hours it's a boneless preparation with just meat no stuffing. And trust me it's really filling. Biryani khas is again amazing. Delivery is highly organised. A very tiny place to dine in so I opted to have them at home.
Jaswanth
Excellent place. Every item is so authentic. Mughlai cuisine. Their menu consists of just a handful of items, but every item is spicy enough and tastes excellent. I would suggest this place everyone who likes mughlai. It's a very small but cozy restaurant in a dusty locality. But the guy who's incharge is very generous. For is very tasty hygienic. Would definitely recommend to biryani lovers.
I personally would like to give it a visit soon.
SUBHANKAR CHATTERJEE
I think if i could give more than 5 points it will not enough to marks to judge Aiwan E shahi's hospitality and taste. The quality of the food awesome. It is small place many of u are not aware of this restaurant but I trust me u will enjoy the food quality and the hospitality.
Raj Rohit
Typical non vegetarian home cooked food experience.

I guess this is the best customer service I have ever seen at a little food joint.

Their mutton biryani is a must try. We ordered rotis and the spicy chicken curry; and they are just too good.
Ashish Rawat
I ordered the paneer dish and rotis. Taste was decent, but nothing like some of the reviews mentioned here.

The food was too Oily, had acidity after eating the meal. Also, takes around 1 hour to deliver the order, so not an option when you are dying of hunger.
Chiranjib Dey
Had ordered home delivery of biryani and sheekh kabab. Superb taste, quantity and packaging. The owner who received my call was very polite and the delivery was quick. Reasonable prices. Recommended to try once yourself and then I am sure you will do it regularly.

Only place in Dlf phase 3.. Where u can find authentic Mughlai cuisines. After trying various restaurants for 4 months.. I saw it on zomato..and ordered Murgh Shahi . And thereafter this is only place from where I order my non-veg dishes. Finally, found a place in Dlf phase 3 which suits my taste buds. Only suggestion..if they can add some tandoori items to their platter.
Rahul Rakesh
What a culinary feast this little joint is.... I will have to come out and say that the stuff here... is better and highly more authentic than what you get duped for at Dilli 6 and Jama Masjid.... these are just good...

But Aiwan E shahi..... is brilliant..... I tasted quite a lot of stuff here with my friends and I have to say it the most satiating meal i had had in a very long time....

Pointers: The Biryani Khas is a must. It will blow your mind ( The only place in NCR where cooked mutton actually seems cooked). Plus its very authentic, not that oily escapade which the so called Muradabadis cook around here
Try the Ishtu Shirazi with plain Roti.....

apart from these, nothing here is even close to bad.... Everything is excellent!!
