If this isn't the best place to be in Tirthan, then I don't know what is. The cottage mesmerizes you at every point, be it its interior spaces, decor or its river kissing location. What an amazing place to be and especially among some highly experienced and warm people like Mr. Panki ji and his wife. The food is beyond words where everyone's hospitality is a cherry on the top. You don't feel like leaving the cottage even after days. Rooms are enormously spacious and cozy with views unmatched. I absolutely enjoyed my time here and among environmentally conscious people.

If there is one place in Tirthan Valley that I would highly speak about and recommend would be Sunshine Himalyan Cottage. The hospitality of Panki Bhaiya is highly commendable and way way beyond par than most of the highly expensive resorts etc at other places. This Cottage is located next to the river Tirthan, with few steps away you can walk and take dip in this river. The views from this place are simply magical and you can easily spend days living here and sitting on the open area near the river for hours looking at the Sun go down and even for Sunrise.
Having lived all his life in Tirthan Valley, Panki Bhaiya has got very strong roots with this place and is very sentimental about it. His deep knowledge and insights about the Valley alone is highly to be spoken about. He shares and carries with himself a very rich experience which has been gained with years of struggle and lots of expertise carried forward to him by his Father and his Big Brother.
He can talk to you for hours and hours without a blink of eye and you won't even know when and where did the time go by.
He is without a doubt one of the best Hosts you can ever get, who really speaks from his heart and treats you not like guests but more like a visiting Family.
I would recommend this place to everyone and would not give it a miss if I am visiting Tirthan Valley.
The place looks exactly as stunning as in the pictures. The location is perfect, with enormous mountains and the mighty Tirthan river at your display. The rooms are big yet so warm and cosy. The home cooked local Himachali cuisine is to die for! You're going to love the hospitality. Also, there's a friendly pet dog Gabbar Singh to play with, and an area to sing and dance by the bonfire.
The best thing about Sunshine Himalayan Cottages would be the inspiring story shared by its owner, Mr Panki Ji. Spare your early mornings or your late nights to dive into the thrilling episodes of Panki ji's life, including how he left behind his addictions 12 years ago, how he saved a brown bear cub, and how he stood by a Nepali stranger during his last breaths. He also has a personal horror experience to share! ;)

This was my second visit to tirthan. The initial plan was to stay for 2 days, however I just fell in love with this property and ended up staying for almost a week. The stay was very comfortable and the view from room was awesome. The cottages are designed in such a way that guests can view tirthan river from all rooms. This valley is home for various birds. I was glad to spot some of the rare bird species during my stay at sunshine. The food was awesome and the staff was also nice. Some of the features that differentiate this property from others are: uneven walls covered with a layer of mud gives a feel of old village houses, however without any compromise on modern amenities, home cooked food that include organic lentils, soups etc., it’s location and view from rooms, access to tirthan river, bamboo ceilings and backrest for bed and last but not the least the owner’s love for nature and intent to spread awareness about importance of eco tourism, less use of plastic and no noise pollution to avoid any disturbance to birds. The best part was not having any wifi and tv so that you can spend quality time with your family by going on nature walks, reading books and enjoying the view of tirthan river from terrace or your balcony.
One of the best places I had an opportunity to stay at. The view both inside and outside this cottage is amazing. It gives a true tree house feel and all the rooms are so spacious and cozy while giving you a homey feel all the time. The food served here is delicious too and you get a taste of the local Himachali cuisine which further adds to the experience.
But what is most amazing about this cottage is that it is situated just beside the Tirthan river. So, you get amazing views both in the morning and the afternoon. Also, the host of this place, Panki sir, is seriously very calm and helpful. He has amazing stories to tell and inspire you during your stay here. I would definitely visit this place again and recommend others to visit this beautiful cottage too!

Simply the best. Panki ji and his wife Sonu ma'am are simply the best hosts one could ask for. Their hospitality is beyond par. The location of the cottage is superb. The views that you'll get from here are damn amazing. Their dogs Gabbar and Samba are as friendly as the hosts. I personally fell in love with Gabbar. The insights of the hosts about the area will make your experience out of the world. Every penny spent for this experience is worth it. Don't miss out on them if you are coming to Tirthan Valley.

Love the eye for detail that has gone into it to create a beautiful, rustic & cosy Himalayan Home overlooking the beautiful, exuberant River Tirthan, nestled amidst trees that invite the most beautiful birds you could ever see.
The use of natural local elements such as wood, stone, pebbles, rocks and mud further add to its beauty, while a tree growing right through the house promises to keep you close to nature even when you are inside the house. And the cherry on top is of course the homelike warmth .....thanks to the unmatched hospitality of the hosts -The Sood Family (Panki, Sonu, Ankit & Deepti). Have always been overwhelmed by their hospitality and warmth every time we have visited Tirthan.....
Have been closely following each stage of its development and have been eagerly waiting for it to throw open its doors for city dwellers like us who can only dream of having a Home in the Himalayas......Looking forward to live our dream soon in this beautiful home in the Himalayas!
Lap of nature. Trout fishing. Stream flowing within 15 meters of your room. Wonderful home food. Great weather. Snow capped peaks. Mountain trails. All this can make an unforgettable holiday. We've done it, and will remember it for a very long time. Panki and Sonu are great hosts.

We went to this beautiful place in Tirthan Valley in March 2023 with family members, kids and simply loved the following things
1- Location - Just 100 Meters from the main road next to the Tirthan River
2- Rooms are super spacious, with large Heated beds and with Room Heaters.
Rooms are will equipped with all the amenities like Gysers, Closets, Kettles etc
3- We had stayed on the first floor Rooms A and B which have a Huge Balcony of 15 Ft directly facing the river
4- The Staff is super Helpful, always ready to solve the problems. One of our switches was not working, the staff got it fixed in an hours time.
5- The food is very good, tasty and the staff is kind enough to prepare it as per your choices, spicy non spicy etc
6- The hosts Mr. Panki and Mr.Ankit Sood are to be given equal credit for managing and handling things very effectively, ensuring customers needs are taken care off. Do search for them on Google or YouTube to find out more about the work they are doing along with running this beautiful and luxurious property.
We met soo many good people during our stay, some of them have been visiting it for over 7 years, all bcz of the hosts, extremely courteous staff.
Not to mention the two pets Gabbar and Samba are unlike their names, very very quiet and peaceful. One would not even feel their presence.
We are definitely going to visit this property again.
This place has my ❤ now. One of the best places have ever stayed. Apart from its mind blowing location which is definitely it's USP, the next best thing stood out for me is their hospitality - actually a beauty of homestay. You will feel the warmth of people around, always at your service catering the best.
I spent my b'day here surrounded by complete strangers, who were no longer strangers when I left this place. Wish I had stayed longer , this place definitely doesn't deserve a one night stay but 3 as minimum.

Went over to the resort for a quick bite. Was stunned by the locational settings near the river. However, I wonder if it's safe during the monsoon. The food was buffet and tasty. The owner was with us and very helpfull.

A surreal luxury place by the Tirthan River. The rooms of new hotel are well made. Homely food and a good spread is hallmark of this place. If you deserve a holiday, this is the place you should be visiting in any season of your choice. Every season has its charm here.
Nestled in the picturesque valley, it's a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the nature at the fullest. Mr. Panki Sood and his wife are great hosts and the staffs are very cordial. I am missing that freshly cooked himachali food badly!!!
This place has my heart. The most comfortable home stay with the most beautiful views. Tastiest local food, loving and efficient staff, personal touch of the owners and unconditional love from Gabbar and Sambha(their pets). I give A+ rating to everything that they had to offer us.
