Amazing veg food... one of the best veg restaurants i have ever been to... paneer tikka a must try...
Abhishek Harne
It was just excellent , we ordered Shahi Paneer Tikka , Veg kofta curry , Pudina Paratha , Missi Roti with pyaj butter and Masala Chaacha. The staff is also courtious and service is also quick. It's paradise for veg lovers right in the center of guwahati. I was too busy eating to click photos of food 😜

GM is one of the oldest fine dining restaurant in the city but it has also lost its charm over ages. I remember having family dinner decades back and it used to be memorable one. I personally feel one should skip starters and go for the main course because the baby corn which i ordered was hard and difficult to chew on. This place serves the best naan and the butter paneer & dal makhani goes well as its everyone's favourite. The service was quick and our server Mr. Ramdhar was such gem of a person. The ambience was noisy and the items on the menu are value for money as compared to other places in town.

Food will never disappoint here. + pure veg + Indian prime veg dishes + decent family ambiance + classic taste - except for Sundays, parking is a problem
Sriram Rajagopalan
Amazing food. Good pure veg restaurant in Guwahati. Courteous service. It is crowded so please be prepared to wait. Place is bit cramped but that is a small trade off for some good food
Pakshya
Best restaurant in the surrounding area. The ambience is nice along with the food. If you're in the area for the cruise or ropeway and looking for a proper meal, don't search elsewhere.
ANKITA BHOWAL
As a rare vegetarian eater, I can say that this place is quite good... Not pocket friendly, also not that too expensive... The ambience was quite nice and the food was tasty... Also I must mention that their service is nice... And on a good day you need to wait 5-25 mins .. The only con would be its parking and congestion since it is situated at the heart of fancy bazaar... But overall worth trying...
Sarthak Sablawat
The food here is just awesome... No hotel can beat this in Guwahati especially Dal Makhani and Paneer Pasanda uffff ❤️

The perfect destination for vegetarians. Located at a prime and busy location.

Gopal Maharaj is a culinary treasure! The best pure veg North Indian restaurant in town. Exceptional flavors, cozy ambiance, and friendly service. Don't miss out if you're a fan of North Indian cuisine. A must-visit!

Excellent food... Good service
Kaushik Bezbaruah
Gopal Maharaj has always delighted us with the fantastic cuisine. And the best part is how they make the same dish non spicy and spicy is amazing. The new dishes of Chur Chur naan, hariyali paneer tikka and Shahi paneer tikka is superb.
Harshikaa Rara
Ofc for vegetarians this is a very good place, plus it is a family restaurant which keeps it crowded all the time. I had visited it many times, and the food is really good! The atmosphere it also cool

Need to xtend more dinning space...g Food and service is much better
Rajni Tiwari
It's for all those vegetarians who wants to truly enjoy the food..... The general crowd is the upper and upper middle class .... Prices are reasonable considered to the quality....do order all the starters....
Saurabh Srivastava
Nice restaurant...good ambience, food is good. The guy who served us was a great "sales guy" for the restaurant suggesting and pushing us to buy side dishes, drinks and desserts..... Overall a great experience and recommend to try once if you are in Guwahati
Jayvrat Dubey
Food quality and taste is very good. Good staff and very polite nature. Neat and clean place. I would suggest to everyone to atleast visit once.
Rahul Dugar
For all the vegetarian people, this is the place in Guwahati where you can get mouth watering food at a reasonable price with the tarka of best service from the Gopal Maharaj Team on floor. But please, don't be absurd to go alone & float in the taste, it's a family place. My recommendation: Dry Fry (as a part of Main Course) & Paneer Tikka (for Starters)
Krishna Sharma
One of my favourite place. Quality of food is excellent. Service is wonderful, homely environment and above all the owner of the restaurant is Suresh Baiya is a my dear person.
Maya Bawri
Whenever I m in GM, I m not at all worried about the quality of food I m having because they serve the best of it and 100 percent fresh as well... and above all I am mad about the taste of all the items they serve..

I love the dishes there😍😍. It's yummy. Ambience is so so but food are really awesome. I love shahi paneer & GM special veg pulao there. It's a veg restaurant. Alcohol doesn't serve there. They have their own sweets stalls there. Must try gulam jamun there, it's recommendable.
Vignesh Rao
The food was really tasty. Probably the best vegetarian restaurant I’ve been to, in Guwahati. However, the service was equally poor. The staff were inactive and seemed uninterested to take orders or do anything.
Foodie🍽️No1
Well maintained and best quality of vegetarian foods , each staff having a good communication skills. They all are respective. I highly recommended you guys visit once this place.
Thank you.
The Veg Foodie!!
Gopal maharaj is one of the oldest restaurants of guwahati. The location is a bit disappointing but the food is amazingly tasty. Everything is cooked fresh, though hygeine is an issue as the location of the restaurant is too dirty. Also, the food tastes well but you might have some stomach pain issue afterwards. Choice is yours 🤭

Gopal Maharaj enjoys a special place in my heart. I have been frequenting the place for four years now. The taste has detoriated over time but everytime I crave for authentic veg food, GM is the place to be. Their starters are very average, so a pro tip would be to start with the main course right away
Neha Kabra
Very poor servicing. Quality is really very less. Food is not that satisfactory but ok to save your hunger. Waiters aren't trained at all. We were received Finger bowl in between our lunch. And crispy chilly baby corn is the worst. Not at all as per the taste.
Santosh Bardia
Food- 4/5
Ambiance- 3.5/5
Service- 3/5

Simply awesome food to enjoy with friends and family. Try out their gulab jamuns, they are the best. Best place to enjoy with friends and family.
Priyanka Maheshwari
One of the oldest in the area. Mostly has waiting during lunch time due to being situated in the market. Good food. Ok ambience. The onion bhuji is really good. Fast service. Not very pricey.
Priyal Poddar
The best place for dining with family which is located near the main market. We always visit there mostly on Sunday with my family and the food is just awesome especially its dal tadka, paneer bhuji and other cuisines too
Gargi Kalita
A good place for vegetarians to go and the food they serve is also tasty. I am a big fan of potatoes and I ordered butter naan , dum aloo and daal. The food was up to the mark. The dum allo was damn tasty.
Suhas Kulkarni
Good place near paltan bazaar. But it was quite crowded ahet we were there . But taste was quite authentic. The captain was kind to support us. Recommended!
Shatakshi Saxena
It's actually something I didn't expect from this place. I belong to Lucknow and I came here as a tourist. Google and locals told me about this restaurant. I hoped to find pure vegetarian daal rice here... But what I came across was 1 bowl Daal in 110rs for 3 people. Pathetic quantity and a really bad experience for me !! I could not eat properly and seriously I recommend you to kindly work on the quantity especially for tourists !!
Archit Todi
One of the best experience for veg items and pocket friendly. The staff members are also very helpful. And a very good place in between the shopping street -fancy bazaar.
Raj Kiran
When you need an all veg restaurant in Guwahati... GM is really a good place for that! We had ordered a baby corn chilly for starter which serves 3 with decent taste. Main course was really good and tasty with a couple of butter and garlic naans with methi malai mutter and a lime soda. I would definitely recommend this place for those looking for an all veg restaurant near MG road in Guwahati.

For a decade now I have been hearing rave reviews of this place from my relatives in this city, most agree to this being the best restaurant around, finally got to try the place out on my last visit to Guwahati, we went in for lunch and the place was fully packed, with people waiting out for sitting. The food on offer is proper India fare with an extra dash of ghee, oil and butter. We were eleven of us and ended up ordering many dishes. The ones which stood out for me were the special dal, it was actually light for a restaurant made dish, the only other dish to stand out was the Panner Buji, it was well made and tasted great. Rest were mediocre at best. My conclusion, it’s meant mostly for the older generation, decades back there use to be many such joints now most have shut down or either modernized there menu. The food I had here could easily have been made at my home and it does on special occasion. The selling point today is the reasonable pricing and good quality food, the kind you get served at Indian weddings.
Salma Nasrin
This is the one of the best veg restaurants I have visited. Indeed the best. The ambience is pretty and service is very prompt. Coming to the food . The food tastes superb . It is scrumptious. A must visit. Looking forward to more visits.
Hrishiraj Talukdar
For starters i ordered lemon soda and baby corn
lemon soda was very disappointing. It tasted like soda.
Then had babycorn, which turned out to be good.
Tried daal, butter naan and chilly panner.
Well i Must say it was a good experience, do try up once. Food and service is fast and good.
Dont pick up thephone mentioned here.
I was ttrying to call them bt no response.
And most of the time as seen its full.
So I thought of booking a table .but waste of time
Navoday Das
Good food although won't say it's the best you'd find... They serve good cheese naans though... The quantity of food (main course) they serve is a little less I would say compared to other places... Vegetarians can go and have their food there, there aren't many better options available...
Archie
The other night I visited the place after a good number of years. The high ratings in Zomato together with my craving for decent vegetarian fare played a part. Ordered a parcel of Alu pyaz and Dal fry along with rotis. When I reached home, I was shocked to see the size of the containers (250 ml, more like ice cream cups!). Considering the size of the containers, the items were vastly overpriced and it was nothing short of a midnight robbery. The Alu pyaz was tasty though a bit oily but the Dal fry was a total disaster....there was a thick layer of oil floating at the top and the dish was tasteless. I am not sure whether they serve the same quantity at the restaurant but people who opt for a take away, please be informed!!
GAURAV MITNA
They have been in this business since quite long, they have a descent reputation too,but i never liked their food, tried it many times, most of the things tastes the same and they serve PRE-COOKED food,as no one can provide you with your order in 3-4 minutes, they also dont treat their customer equally,if you are in numbers then you are boss, but if you are not,you have to shout even for a glass of water.
CA Kanishka Agarwal
I have visited this place over a number of times with friends and family alike... The great thing is the awesome vegetarian food... GM over the years has stood rock solid with its food quality reputation... Also, I would like to especially mention about the paneer which always is fresh and soft... A must visit place... Great one for food lovers :) :) :)

Food taste - 4.5
Food quality - 5.
Ambiance - 2
Food presentation - 2
Service - 4.5
Price - 5
Recommend for family outings, home-cooked flavors

Their yellow dal is out of the world. Rest other dishes are also good and always taste fresh. Must visit if craving for good home cooked meal. Also good place to go out with the family.
The service is quick and all staff is courteous and the best part is no matter how much food you order they don't write down and still get it right.
Interiors need to be updated.
Pranay Sanghvi
Pure Veg Restaurant that serves awesome food.Must visit specially if you are a northie and seeking for good spicy food.I have visited them 4-5 times and never got disappointed.

Soo delicious food..everything is like u cannot say or point out a particular dish.. the service was the fastest i saw on any restaurant before too fast..the staffs are trained and well mannered..also the ambience is quite good..

It is a legend of sorts in Guwahati when it comes to Indian food and it serves authentic marwaari 'basaa' food.
Its famous for its regular dal, paneer dishes and you will get a waiting on every day of the week. Once in,dont expect much. Go with less expectations of hygiene but great of taste.
Don't go hunting for special stuff on the menu, here's the basic you need to order

-Paneer Tikka : effin fabulous

-Papad/Pyaaz Bhuji : they used to serve coal smoked bhurjis of both. Mix them up and its a solid starter

-Paneer Bhurji : exquisite taste. Floats on oil but come on , some extra calories is worth it.

-Dal Fry : *(STAR DISH)* I live the dal here.its what makes everything else taste great. Hot,with nice tadka and just amazing

-Kofta : again different from the regular kaju-kishmish stuff. Its got good taste.

-Aloo-Pyaaz : it used to be good but average now.

Food is served before you even settle down and the prices are almost next to nothing for such good food.
Rupam Bhaduri
4.5 for the service. The fastest you can ever expect. A must try for all the veggies staying around Guwahati. A delight to mind and soul if u r planning to try for some good North Indian cuisine.
Anirudha Mahagaonkar
Good food. It was tasty and well cooked. Corn delight starter was really nice. Paneer tikka could have been spicier. Other dishes were good. For vegetarians, GM is a sure delight !!
Radhika Singhania
Have been dining there since 10 years and it has never disappointed any taste bud. The food is amazing , a must visit restaurant in Guwahati
Shabnam Yesmin
All the vegetarians out there.. Must must try this place n even the non veg peeps who are fond of good spicy food must visit this place.. The plain dal served here itself speaks it's heritage. The masala's used here are so raw n perfectly cooked. Visited last weekend the restaurant was full yet people were waiting outside (demand exceeds this level). Chilly paneer served was so perfectly cooked n it tasted awesome.. Starters pander tikka was up-to d mark n the quality of butter nan is also very satisfying. Must try! 👌

This place used to be a very good place for vegetarians. But they aren't the same anymore. Visited them a few months back wasn't satisfied at all. Visited them 2 days back same thing happened. The tandoori roti was like papad. The kadhai paneer wasn't kadhai pander, it had huge pieces of raw tomato and capsicum. The gravy was bad. Only the paneer was fresh. The dal was fine nothing great. Service bad. They are fast but it wasn't good. No value for money. They need to get better. They are only running because of the reputation they had once upon a time.
Rahul Sharma
Good place for North Indian cuisine.

Paneer tikka, paneer butter masal and cheese naan n masala kulcha are tasty. At the end don't forget to try Hot gulab jamun in dessert!

If you are looking for delicious North Indian food then must check out the place. Service and other things are kinda okay
Abhishek Mehta
Gopal Maharaj a well know name in fancy mkt for lunch during mkt visit.
We ordered panner Tikka n chilly corn as being ordered Jain food was good.
Ordered kulcha n panner butter masala n mix vegetable was gud
Lastly gulab jamun was as sweet as expected.

Old place and most famous too good food and best place for veg dishes too yummy good service quality and quantity is highly maintained good staff
Anuj Bajaj
One of the oldest and Guwahati's most loved marwari dhaba style restaurant is still maintaining the same quality, which is very satisfying. On sundays and holidays, be sure to reach early as they don't have empty tables! Service is very fast and most of the times, the waiters recognise their customers and bring their regularly ordered items. Papd bhurji and pyaz bhurji being the most common ones! Awesome.
Siddharth Sen
Very nice and clean veg restaurant with super tasty foods...also try their extremely soft butter naans. Just a little hard to identify..and parking is a major issue. Otherwise a wonderful family restaurant
Ritesh Bawri
Can't have BETTER dal and panner in INDIA
Fresh
Quick SERVICE
Love to have regular dinner at GM
I have been coming here since decade
Here its guarantee that we will get everything fresh .

Food Explorer
While travelling through the city, the driver recommended this place as we were looking for good veg food. Located inside a lane in fancy bazaar, this restaurant is dimly lit with two levels of seating. Seating includes tables, chairs, and sofas.
Coming to the menu, they serve north indian food.
Since we didnt feel like ordering starters, we directly ordered main course. There were several varieties of paneer curries, so we decided to try something different so we ordered paneer bemisaal curry. This curry had paneer stuffed with dry fruits in a spicy tomato gravy. It was decent. We also ordered daal makhani. It was really tasty with good amount of butter and rich gravy. In breads we ordered pudina paratha, tandoori roti, kulcha, chapathi. All were prepared well. For dessert, we had gulab jamun. The gulab jamun was big with khova inside. Rates are reasonable. Worth a try for vegetarians.
Kapil Goyal
This place still has some of his old charm left. Basically, if you are looking for simple food, like Dal, Roti, etc this is an option. Though, you'll find variety of options but my favorite has always been Dal Tadka. Pure vegetarian restaurant, perfect for families & small get together.
Susheta Chanda
I wouldn't pay bucks to have vegetarian food, but this place sure changed the way I looked at vegetables. That missi roti was out of this world and I can't even describe the tenderness of those malai koftas, and that yum paneer bhurji. Sigh. Also the cheese naans are unmissable if you drop in this place. Tables are hard to get, even on a weekday. So be ready to wait in lines. The service is super quick and super good. Worth every penny.
Gaurav Jalan
No other place gives me more satisfaction then this one !!
GM has become a habbit now.

Warning :Weight Watchers Pl stay away. The dollops of butter will scare you like hell :p

in my opinion,it serves the freshest food in town.
Neha Jajodia
A good option for hardcore vegetarians peoples. If you are only looking for good vegetarian food, this is your place. But except that nothing fancy about this place
Akshay Parakh
#Latest#
I have been going to this place for 3 years now, and sadly a lot has changed over the time, like stewards are getting old and arrogant, and taste of food constantly depleting. Hopefully, I won't be visiting or recommending this place to anyone else.

##Visit 1##
Gopal Maharaj one of the popular veggie friendly restaurants of Guwahati city.
Easy to find.
Ambience of the place is nothing much to talk about. Dim Lighting and crowded with furniture. Music is fine.
Service is really fast, and staff is neither friendly nor rude.
Food, this time, average, maybe wrong selection.
Masal Papad - 4/5. After so long I had masala papad, and this was really masaledaar, perfect way to start the meal.
Matar Masala - 2/5. Peas were hard. If u r using frozen food then at-least boil before u use them or cook properly. And on description it says, thick tomato gravy, Putting chunks of tomato in yellow gravy does not means tomato gravy.
Butter Naan - 4/5. Justifies Naan.
Veg Raita - 4/5.
Veg Pulav - 3/5. Nothing Fancy, Just Rice fried with tomato, onions and hard peas.
Lime Soda(Salted) - 4/5.
Gulab Jamun - 4.5/5 . One of the best I ever had. There is nothing better than, a warm bite of soft and sweet gulab jamun at the end of your meal. "heavenly".

So overall experience was good.

######VIST 2#####
This time everything other than my order was same.Started with PANEER TIKKA - 4/5, one my favorite dish, it was all decorated under kachumber salad, 4 big chunks of paneer with big slices of onion and capsicum, served with red and green chutney. Perfectly grilled and delicious. The only sad part was, capsicum was not cleared, all seeds were there, which at some point spoild the taste.Malai Kofta - 3.5/5, Delicious, 2 big dumplings in orange mild spicy gravy.Yellow Dal-4.5/5, we asked them to make it extra spicy and fry with some tomatoes, and they did it perfectly.Pizza Naan - 4/5, It really looked liked pizza with naan as base and the best part was topping did not spilled out. Quite Impressed this time.....!

######VIST 3#####
This time I ordered,
Malai Paneer Tikka , which was delicious and my favorite at this place. Veggies were not grilled/cooked but Paneer was soft and perfectly marinated. 4/5
Dum Biryani - the only common thing between this one and the original one is rice, which was not even basmati. Rest as simple as peas pulao. Seriously, real mood spoiler. 1/5

Ashish Keshan
worst food, worst hospitality poor ambience. even the street hawkers of fancy bazaar are better both in taste and nature. we went there after reading the hype created by the reviews but all in vain. in simple words it is good for nothing. located in a deserted place and when we went there the place was also deserted and suffocating as well even for water we had to call the waiters. worst food ever had.
Anupam Sarma
I am a hardcore non veg foodie . But if you haven't tried paneer bhurji, malai kofta, aloo dum, paneer tiranga , nun , rotis.then you are missing out on this veggie delight.
Foodieforeverandever23/Kabyashree
Gopal Maharaj one of the finest vegetarian restaurant in the city.
Ambience is average but quality of food is fantastic ...service is okay !
Tempting pizza naan and aloo parathas with the delicious shahi paneer and Navratan korma ..
I had a nice memory and a good food story ..
Gunjan Sharma
Gopal Maharaj is one of the nicest vegetarian restaurants in Guwahati. What impresses me the most is the fact that this restaurant has kept it simple and authentic since the first time I visited this place around 20 years back. They serve tasty / quality food without any pretence.

Food 4/5
My all time favourites are the Shahi paneer and yellow Tadka daal. The naans are soft and tasty. I have never tasted their rice (somehow for me nothing in the menu seems to compliment rice; but that's just me).

Service 3/5
Reasonably fast; but during lunch time there is a slag. You get a feel of the subtle fan following this place has when you walk in during lunch hours.

Ambiance 3/5
Pretty clean. Nothing to complain and nothing to gross you out.

Parking is a problem, even for two-wheelers. A must visit for even hardcore meat-eaters.
Aarav Roy
Well I was told that this place is so good that you need to wait outside to get your turn, well luckily I found a seat quite easily. To start with I am not a big fan of just vegetarian food, but here you can find variety of everything. Which is rare in vegetarian cuisine. The food was okay but service was not good, people must respect their fellow customers who come by. The amount they charge too is very high. Keeping everything aside the food won't disappoint you. And that's what matters, the "taste".
Eat Well Live Well
The location is pretty far from the nearest bus stop. Though locals who have their own vehicles won't have any trouble. The outsider has to hire rickshaw to reach the place. Now about the restaurant. The entry and interior is good. We ordered GM special and two garlic naan. It took them 15 minutes despite low occupancy. Waiters are oversmart. Size of standard naan is small. Also had a wooden twig in food which is quite depressing. No-one leaves without tip, to ensure that they don't have swap machines. Overall hype has been created
Suchismita Acharya
When you write a review after visiting the restaurant twice; you must be pretty sure that is detailed and we'll analysed. Let's begin
Twice I visited at peak hours and I was well welcomed not by the management but the waiters. I was really awed by such a gesture with which they treated. In this era of commercialisation , such hospitality is nothing but your trump card in bringing back guests over and over again. Not much variety for starters but the crispy baby corn is a must try. The dal fry is much better than the dal makhani. I would also recommend their bombay aaloo for those love tangy food. So all in all
Ambience : 3 star
Food : 4 star
Service : 5 star ( I loved it to my core)
Price : 4 star

Must go for a veg meal some day
Rahul N.
One of the very old and good vegetarian eateries in Fancy Bazar area. They serve decent food at pocket friendly prices. The menu is not extensive and has been the same since they began. All their dishes have good flavors and GM has maintained their standards over time. They sell some really fresh khoya if you prefer home made sweets. The ambiance is average and they can do a better job with some more lighting in the restaurant.
Anchal Somani
Though its location is not very apt, yet it's a nice family restaurant with an attractive ambience and even more attractive food which tastes as good as it looks. The waiters are good and the service is quite fast.
Pooja Saboo
The food here is very good. The service at the restaurant is also fast. The food here never fails to please you. The ambience is pretty good. As it is a very popular place one might have to wait for long on special days.
Dipesh Saboo
Fast Service. Good Food. This place will never fail to delight your tastebuds. 😊
You won't find this place empty anyday. It's always crowded and people definitely love the food and it is a great delight for all vegetarians.
Tushar Jalan
Gopal Maharaj as name suggests King of veg restaurant!

Once upon a time it was everyone's favourite restaurant but due course of time it's quality , taste has degraded !

But leaving apart it does has mouth watering , delicious dishes. Must visit for sure

But the management needs to wake up and ensue that it does not losses its goodwill by the degrading quality and taste
Shekhar Dutta
I guess we went in with very high expectations. Very famous place, but there are a lot of places which cook equally good or maybe better food.
Subhomoy Dey
Gopal Maharaj is one of those very few Veg Restaurants which actually offers mouth watering Vegetarian Dishes. Although I'm a strict Non-Veg lover, I would happily make an exception for the food of this place. Located in a very busy market of Fancy Bazar, this place is spacious from the inside. This place only offers Veg delicacies. On my maiden visit, I ordered one Aloo Paratha, One Paneer Paratha, and Two Masala Kulchas along with Paneer Butter Masala. All the items were served in 10-15 minutes. The parathas were nicely fried over desi ghee I guess. The Kulchas were ordinary and the "Masala" part was just mashed potatoes with red-chilli powder. The real deal was the Paneer Butter Masala, which was neatly prepared in a JAIN like NO ONION fashion. The gravy had a unique blend of aromatic spices, which gave it an unconditional taste. At last but not the least, this place offers the food at reasonable prices. I personally feel that if you have a slightest disbelief towards how good a vegetarian dish could be, then you must definitely visit "Gopal Maharaj".

*Cheers*
Arvind Bawari
Too much hullabaloo for nothing. Its a very average place in my opinion. Food was very ordinary. Other reviews say their papad n onion bhurji is great and the USP but than it is a no brainer. And I can't see a point of the kind of crowd waiting outside to find a place to eat such an average food at not so affordable rates.
Maddy
I was wondering from long time to visit this place, finally I visited the place. The location was not soothing enough, its in a centre of a market place. Coming to the food,I ordered for paneer pasanda, masala kulcha & peas pulao, the order was quick. The food taste average nothing extraordinary! Paneer pasanda was stuffed with peas & raisin covered with thick tomato gravy, the peas in d pulao was salty. If u hv no option in fancy, then go fr this.

A perfect place for veg food...the cheese naan along with shahi paneer and GM special pulao were quite commendable...the service is quick...highly recommended...Soumi Sarkar

Have been visiting this place for years now. Not a very hygienic place, but in india lesser the place is hygienic, more the food is yummy. Waiters are old, in dirty uniforms, are fast, ready to take your order as soon as you get a seat. I would recommend not to visit this place on sundays for dinner . minimum wait time is 40 minutes on Sunday. Order tadka yellow dal, mix it with onion bhurji, it is the specialty. You can order paneer bhurji, malai kota, pindi chole, naan, and do order veg pulao.
Saikat

Unarguably, the best north indian food in the town. The preparations have a dhaba type feel. Paneer bhurji, dal tadka, malai kofta, paneer tikka and gulab jamun are must try's. And do order papad bhurji and pyaaz bhurji for the starters.

Food cooked in yummy & home styled manner-this deserves to be the tag line of this place. This restaurant serves great jeera aloo, roti & rasgullas at a reasonable price.

Comfort food at its best is how I would label this place as. If there's ever a place I go to when I'm badly missing home and craving something reminiscent of Noida in Assam, this is where I head to. Lip-smacking vegetarian food that will only let you come up for air once you've picked and polished everything off your plates!

Albeit the location is a bit confusing, especially for people not familiar with it. Located in Fancy Bazaar, facing the majestic Brahmaputra, GM looks pretty tiny from the outside for the accolades it receives!

Mind you, booking is recommended for this place as its always buzzing with people (mostly families) and you have to wait a while. If you're unlucky enough to reach after 3 for lunch, you will definitely be robbed of your opportunity of glorious North Indian delicacies.

The serving time is quite alright and the food always arrives on time. Their Dal fry, Aloo Dum, Raita, Paneer Sabzis are all amazing. They have oodles of ghee and they're just so heavy! Your stomach will ache by the end of your gastronomic stop here, but it will be all worth it!
Plus, the waiters are extremely attentive and despite the rush they (always) seem to face, polite and helpful.
I've even tried their Kashmiri naan - a pleasant surprise definitely! If ever there's something wrong with your order, they're always eager to alter or fix it.

I love, love, LOVE this place! Especially their Dal Fry - ashgjhdgdudjshysgrterr!! It's the bomb man! Their quantity and service is top-class. Pricey yes, but once you bite into their food - you're in love with them. And from then onwards, you become hooked. :)

Hope you enjoy GM as much as I did!

P.S.: Don't forget to end your fabulous meal with their hot and melt-in-the-mouth Gulab Jamuns!

Have been coming to this place so many times and haven't yet written a review is kind of injustice to this place.
Its definitely the most iconic vegetarian restaurants in Guwahati and one should not give it a miss.
Bustling with people and enjoying their meals give it a wonderful experience altogether.
Service is great. Food is to die for and yes right across the street is the mighty brahmaputra flowing.
Love to come back again and again
Highly recommended - paneer bhurjee and laacha paranthas.
I've been here when I was visiting guwahati. It's a nice place with nice ambience and good food and okay services. If you are looking for a vegetarian meal, followed by a walk near the Brahmaputra river, this is the place to be!

I have been here since my childhood. The quality of food is always at its best even though I personally feel the olden times were better. But still this is one of the best vegetarian outlets which serves hot and delicious food with fast service and very reasonable price. One must try paneer sheek kabab.paneer pasanda.dal fry.masala kulcha.GM special veg pulau. The dal fry is arguably the best.

A great place to be on a winter or a rainy evening. The place serves hot and tasty food.
U shud ask for the papad and pyaz bhuji. The starters are good but the lassi was a disappointment. The kadai panner, malia kofta, yellow dal is just too good.
the roti's are also hot and soft. the food is a little heavy on the stomach.
But nevertheless a great place for some good indian food at affordable rates.

Recently I was in guwahati, Googled for eating outlets, found this place, it had good reviews, so went there, Ambeince wasn't good. There was nothing to eat when I reached there at around 6.30 pm. They should at least keep snacks all the times. Waiter kind of persons were arrogant. And the thing which I disliked the most was, just "GM" was written there, I mean they should write full name of the restaurant, so that illiterate people like me can find this place easily.

Used to visit it when I was a kid, now I've grown up and I continue to visit this place! Have seen them expanding it, though it can't beat the crowd.
Couldn't have been more awesome.

A quintessential favorite of mine. Among the spiciest, tastiest nd most value for money north Indian outlet. Its house speciality is Paneer Bhurji, Yellow Dal fry and GM special Pilaf! Unmatched taste. There have been some new faces in the staffers, which has made some of behaviour issues I had go down. The food has gotten consistent again in the past few months!

This is the first time i am reviewing a veg outlet as I am a pure non vegetarian. On a sunday afternoon, me and my friend was thinking of eating something different so as suggested by my friend, we decided to check this place out located in the fancy bazar. It was full crowded and we had to wait for almost 20 mins to get a place. It was housefull so it had a good impact on my psyche. finally we found a place to sit and ordered the following-
Alu Pyaj, Paneer pasanda, dal makhani, laccha paratha and kulcha. The quantity was quite good for 2. The food was tasty and delicious. Service was fast. Also ordered rasgullas at the end in desserts. Overall experience was good and its perhaps one of the best and oldest veg outlet in the city. Must check for shakaharis but not so sure for manksaharis (pun intended) !!!

Price was reasonable !!!

I believe this place is one of the best restra in fancy bazaar !! I have been visiting this place since childhood, and one of the common food which i order everytime is paneer butter masala and butter naan... This is the place i chose for my up coming birthday. This place basically doesnt be's packed but on festival people wait in que's. I didnt take a snap because i had less things to display. I visit this place frequently, next time i go there i will display something good. Anyways if u visit this place then dont forget the naan's, even if u are not a naan lover u are gonna love it. Prices are affordable, i mean pocket friendly.

GM is one of the oldest restaurants in Fancy Bazaar area serving authentic & fresh vegetarian fare. I have been going there from time immemorial as both my parents, who are converted-veggies, prefer this restaurant over the other veggie outlets.

But for a newbie foodie to search this place would be quite a task. I would advise you to take the directions from the local people when you reach Fancy Bazaar. If you know Madhukunj Sweets, half your task is done, as it lies in the adjacent bylane. On seeing its location you may wonder that who will prefer to come to this place for a nice meal & i wont disagree as the surrounding is very dusty and dirty owing to the nearby wholesale food market. But all will be forgiven when you enter the place as it nicely blocks all the shabbiness outside & during lunch & dinner time it is almost always packed. Also they have undertaken a recent makeover making the place a bit more trendy for families.I have one complain here though & that is regarding the parking place which is next to nothing & you may have a tough time finding a place for your vehicle.

I must say i am quite a fan of their Paneer. It is one of the freshest you will find in entire Guwahati ( they make it in their restaurant itself ). People who know this place, come from faraway places of this city just to take their Paneer.Even at our home when mom plans to make any Paneer dish, the Paneer inevitably is from here. I even know some people in West Bengal, who when they come to visit Guwahati, make this restaurant a must-visit place. I would without any hesitation recommend their Paneer delicacies, be it Paneer Masala ( their specialty ), Paneer Butter Masala, Shahi Paneer or Kadhai Paneer. They all are equally luscious. To accompany it you can order their Butter Tandoori Roti or if you prefer rice, you can order their special Pulao. Among the starters their Malai Paneer Tikka & Crispy Baby Corn are also very good.

The service is quite fast, though if it is packed it may take some time to process your order. The waiters are decent & if you are in a confusion, you can take their advise.

Earlier their prices used to be one of the lowest among the veggie outlets. But after the recent makeover, they have increased the prices quite a bit which maybe a dampener for some people. But if you are a Paneer-Fan-Foodie & haven't visited this place, you owe it to your stomach. ;-p
