Review 6 Ballygunge Place - Guwahati

Debajit Kumar Bhatta
Finally a mouthwatering Bengali cuisine resaurant where one could have a taste of authentic bengali dishes served good quantity and gave got variety. Its a must visit place if you crave for some break from home cooked food and when its bangaliana restaurant it adds to the change and flavour. Its located in the same floor as vinaysk furnishing.
Satyajit Chaudhuri
Located adjacent to Barbeque Nation. It's in the first floor of the building with a narrow staircase guiding you to the dine-in place. The interior is quite different from the Kolkata branch. The staff is very polite. Coming to the food. Some of the items in their menu were not up for order. So the choice got limited. The rice portion is sufficient just for 1. The taste is wonderful. Brings in the original bengal taste. The rice and chicken were very nicely cooked and were very tasty. The pieces were adequate for two. The gravy was also very tasty. Would recommend the mishti doi in dessert. It's the icing on the cake.
Sauvik Dasgupta
Average taste of food and also over priced......but if anyone visits there do try the Dab Chingri
Suporichita Bhattacharjee
Delicious authentic Bengali food. Their service is also pretty fast. Great place for family gatherings. The only negative thing I observed is half the items in the menu are always unavailable. You should definitely try these items: Godhoraj chicken, chilly paneer, daab chingri, chicken kosha, dhonnepata kachalonka chicken, jhuri jhuri aloo bhaja, bhapa ilish. They should change the menu and exclude items that are always unavailable.
Bhaskar Gogoi
Tried the buffet lunch. The spread was elaborate comprising of chicken, fish and mutton prepared in Bengali style. Taste was good and it is priced well. Worth the visit.

This is one of the best Bengali restaurants in guwahati. The food here is lip smacking and delicious and the baked mihidana is a must try among all desserts..the offer veg n non veg buffets..the ambience n service here is good..

Deliciously crafted dishes, cozy ambiance, and attentive service make this restaurant a standout. A must-try for food enthusiasts seeking a delightful dining experience. Awesome Sunday lunch 27/08/2023

•Excellent location •One of the best staff behaviour I've come across •Must try - Ilish Bhapa (ask for the Ilish from Bangladesh) •Don't miss the Nolin Gurer Ice-cream to end the feast with. •Choose the A-la-carte instead of the buffet. •Only negative thing was the space on the table - kind of small to fit in dishes and plates for 4. Thanks to the restaurant for making my day, this was the first time I took out my parents for lunch with my own salary. Ordered - Bethcki Kobiraji, 3 plates rice, 1 Ilish Bhapa, 2 Chitol Peti Roast, 1 Bethcki Jhal, 1 Moong Dal with Maach'er matha, 1 Daab Chingri, 2 Mishti Doi, 1 Nolin Gurer Ice-cream. Bill came for approximately ₹4k and I'm more than happy because every penny was worth! Thanks to the particular person who was assigned to us, my bad I couldn't remember to take his name, but he's probably what every restaurant should crave for! Thanks to you buddy!

Bengali food restaurant....very clean and well lighted family restaurant. They have buffet in the afternoon and also have thali system or alacarte system in the evening and night. Mutton kosha is simply superb....as also variety of fish items... Service is decent. Overall good place for a wholesome meal.
Pro X
An awesome place to enjoy Bengali dishes. They also provide a wide varieties of buffet.

Awesome taste. Really authentic flavour of Bengali cuisine. All the offerings in the non veg buffet were mouth watering . Would love to visit again.

Food was great... Compared to few other Bengali resturants in Ghy. Kosha Mangsho (mutton) was prepared with all due care. Overall it was treat to the sense. But starters like Chicken Kabiraji and Gondhoraj chicken were exquisite.. 😋😋

Good place to have Bengali cuisines at Guwahati especially nearby Paltan Bazar or Guwahati Railway station. They have lots of options starting from Vegs and non-vegs till after food items like icecreams. They have items of different fishes like ilish, bhetki, pomphret and prawn. Most of the dishes are good. They also serve buffet in Sunday lunch. The place is clean. The service speed can be improved to make the experience even better.

We visited the place for lunch . Firstly they were serving only Buffet and food was not at all good. Highly disappointed. In a Bengali restuarant ,you expect more of fish items but they were serving only 2 varieties that too one started and one in main course. The mutton was horrible.Overall the experience was not at all encouraging
SILIGURI FOODIES
We were served Silver cup fish instead of Ilish. Such fraud restaurant this is. Will never trust it again and we never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

After a recent Oh Calcutta visit this month, had intense Bengali food cravings today. Seeing reviews and price points, we thought this would be the closest thing to Oh Calcutta that we could experience in Guwahati.<br/><br/>1. Kosha ( Mutton) - You judge a Bengali Speciality Restaurant by its Kosha and the Kosha here was way off the mark. The gravy tasted burnt and the meat was highly undercooked. Had to do away with half the food .<br/><br/>2. Prawns Malai - Decent gravy but the quantity (& quality) of prawns was shockingly poor. They serve the prawns with shells and the head so it seems to be plenty but in actuality you hardly get any.<br/><br/>I would not eat here again.<br/>

A Must visit place if u love bong dishes.....Great place with undoubtedly 5star rating for the food<br/>And of course dnt forget to enjoy the Misti doi

If you want to try authentic bengali cuisine in Guwahati this is the place for you!! The buffet here is fantastic and consists of various dishes.<br/>My favorite dishes would be Daab Chingri and Kosha Mangsho with Luchi.<br/>Do call and check with them before you decide to visit because they don't have the buffet everyday.
Arpita
A bengali cuisine restaurant where the best thing is they keep a mark of spicyness in every items they serve. Visited this place several times, one of my mom's favorite place. The hospitality is really amazing, and a must try is daab chingri, how beautiful its served. I would definitely like to visit again. And, recommend this place, if you really want to try some good bengali food items.
Prateek Singhal
A must try restaurant for an authentic taste of Bengal on your plate. As one enters, the scintillating visuals, the presentation of their menu and the hospitality of their staff are just worth breathing in.<br/><br/>The Aloo Bhaja, Mutton Kosha Mangsho, Chingri Malaicurry with Luchi and Steamed rice are all legendary dishes. Completing the meal with Mishti Doi would be prudent.
Sweety Saha
Love the food served. Services are good.<br/>I have been here thrice but variety of is just wow. Perfect place for the foodie bongs😊 and others too. Highly recommended.
Abhilasha Bora
Food here is pretty decent. Even though the primary cuisine served is the Bengali cuisine, the food is not ultra spicy. Tried a couple of things including daab chingri, doi chicken, Homemade style mutton curry, bhetki paturi, some prawn and chicken cutlets. But the one that stood out was the mutton. The meat was falling of the bone and the gravy was flavourful. Daab chingri was too coconut-y for my liking and the chicken doi was very disappointing. But overall, the meal was pretty whole some and the service was very good. Keep it up! :)
Bhaswati Roy
The name itself has a flavour.. Went there once and my experience was really nice.. The staff is polite and the food we ordered was brilliant. Would love to visit again.. #tastelove

Well my review might not be all the common, but yes this place needs improvement. Food was Okay. Actually the food looks great when compared to other Bengali restaurants in town, but trust me your maach paturi or bhapa ilish can be better than this.  apart from this the staffs are great though but the time I visited there was no water in the washroom to wash your hands, and you know you don't like to have "ilish" with a spoon and a fork.
Simona
Wow food and wow environment and wow staff. The name of he place tempts me. Bhappa illish, kosha mangso and luci is too die for. We tried Bhappa doi as recommended by the waiter and like it. Tried some channa curry also for a vegetarian and we realised that too. Jur jhuri aloo fry is ultimate. A must visit place to relish Bengali delicacies
Siddhartha Kundu
A very good place to have authentic Bengali food you must visit this place for once. Ambience is good and we enjoyed the food very much. I will recommend others to come and have the tasty once.<br/>

I have visited this place in Ghy 2 times. The mocktails are Good. But its not similar to Mocktail that is there in the Original Restaurant @ Kolkata.I was searching for 224 AJC Bose road. Which was missing in the Guwahati Outlet. We ordered Bhetki fry,Luchi, kosha Mangsho,Daab Chingri,Baked Mihi Dana n Kacha lanka diye Murgi Manghso. All of them were Cooked to perfection. But what will stand out is the Luchi & Kosha Mangsho n the deserts.I will surely look to visiting the restaurant, when i come back to Ghy again😍

Ah! The most delicious bengali food i could ever have other than my mom's kitchen is this place. This place has a variety of bengali cuisine. Though, the Prices are a bit high but the food makes it worth paying it. The behaviour of the staffs are very pleasant. And the ambience is so soothing with all time Rabindra Sangeet playing behind the curtains. Good amount of food items are there. Worth a visit. Especially during the occasions.

Mutton was not boiled properly.. Chicken curry taste was below average... Fish was tasty much to my surprise after tasting the chicken n mutton.. Cutlet was again nothing great.. Dessert section was okay n bit satiating in the end.. Overall not worth a 720.. Disappointed<br/>

Keeping it short and honest: Great place for family gathering as well as for couple with calm and elegant ambiance.<br/>I have ordered bhappe ilish, daab chingri, bhunna mangsho, chaanar daal and few starters, I love the authenticity of the food and the preparation is excellent. Though I don't have a Bengali food habit, the dishes satisfied my taste buds and craving for Bengali cusins.<br/>And the chutney which I forget to mention, it was "aam ka chutney", bit sweet and salty. Mixes right in your mouth.<br/>And great staff behaviour and services. Worth spending some quality time.
Nilam Gupta
Worst experience of bengali cusine.. we have visited for dinner over there and we have ordererd dab chingri but it was very worst taste and mostly staff were not friendly at all..if you do wana visit there you have to sit according to there choice..if anyone wana try tasty bengali cusine i would prefer to visit iccapuran restaurant as foods are tasty and staff too cooperative..

This place is for non vegetarians so being a vegetarian , there are limited options for me here .... I had chanar dalna and aloo dum here along with rice and Radha ballabi, it's okayish I would say nothing special ... Skip this place if you are a vegetarian, go if you are a non vegetarian Bengali food lover...
Moniswapna Borthakur
Looking at the review card and since many people recommended us, we decided to check out this place. Though the place was not that big, the ambience was great.. We ordered chicken gondhoraj and moruola macher pyaaji as starters. For the main course we opted for bhappa ilish, ilish begun jhol, murgir jhol, rice and aloo posto. Ended our meal with baked mihidana with rabdi and chhanar malpoa. All the dishes were very flavourful and the service was very friendly. Must visit place if you are fond of bengali food.

The quality of the Kolkata 6 Ballyganj was never brought to Guwahati but still the place used to be one of my favourites, untill yesterday's lunch!! The buffet (Non veg-Sunday Special) ooppppssss...what a disaster!!!! Mutton curry, no bengali would have had such bad mutton in their entire life...there was no aroma at all... the doi chicken was too slimy. Only sarshe fish was gud & aso the tawa fish. This 1* is for the fish only.<br/>With dal there is no bhaja/bora. No doi misti to complete the meal... & you pay Rs.708/- per adult and Rs 450/- for kids above 5 yrs. for the disappointment 😔<br/>The staffs were also not very courteous, they in so much hurry to wrapp up the entire episode, as if they knew that the food is not worth taking so long 😃. Very disappointed with the entire experience. Ballyganj Guwahati needs to buck up.
Ananya Auttri
Visited this place after a long time today for lunch. As me and my family always liked the food here, when we thought of bengali cuisine, this was the first place that popped in our minds. We tried the special buffet today here which cost us Rs. 708 for adults and Rs. 450 for kids above 5 years of age.<br/>Welcome drink was good. I liked the aloo potol kosha. Tawa fish and Rui Shorshe were very good. But the chicken tasted weird and mutton was just awful. The payesh and chutney were good.<br/>The staff is no longer the friendly people they used to have earlier. They are okay, but they don't really make you feel extra special. They also hurried through the entire meal. They were too eager to clear the plates even when a person was chewing maybe his last morsel. While two people of the group were still at their dessert plate, the waiter presented the bill. I didn't like it at all. What's the hurry? It's a Sunday and we had gone to relax and enjoy our food. Why rush us like that? And to think that, it wasn't even 2 p.m.!!<br/>The overall quality has dropped substantially since my last visit and they really need to amp up their game.
Abhinav Sharma
We were in Guwahati when the fish bug bit us and we wanted to try out some. Zomato pointed us to this place and we ended up here for lunch..<br/>An unassuming place like typical Bengal, somehow we opted out of the buffet and went for A la Cart.. Excellent food and fresh fish with authentic flavours.. Not giving out much here.. Do try out the Gur Ice cream and the baked rabri with boondi.. Am sure other desserts will be equally unique.. And the finale of the Pan flavoured mouth freshener.. Mmm you will get a visit again soon!!
Abhijeet Bhattacharjee
Loved the food. The best authentic bengali cuisine restaurant in Guwahati. Nice ambiance, efficient staffs and reasonably priced. They also have ample parking space
Asha Mishra
Had a lunch buffet. Though the experience was fine. They can do much better regarding the food. Best items - moong dal. An item with kumro. Fish fry. Kosha murgi and payesh could have been better.<br/>Happy eating :)

The perfect place in Guwahati for a sumptuous Bengali meal. Heard lots of good reviews about this place so after lots of planning and plotting, we were finally able to visit 6 Ballygunge Place and * hold your breath* it lived up to the hype! Rich decor, beautiful ambience and efficient service combine to make the entire experience an amazing one. The menu is a delicious smorgasbord of Bengali cuisine- We had Luchi and Mutton alongwith Malai Shrimp, all of them were a total delight to the tastebuds. And to top it all it's all light on the wallet. Cheers!
Ayesha Ahmed
Couldn't manage to get the picture of the entire menu ordered since everything came on table one by one. Service therefore I would call, poor. I am a big fan of Bengali cuisine and therefore ordered all my favourites, as in - the signature alu bhaja, daab chingri, bhetki paturi with rice and yellow dal, baked mihi dana and nolen gurer ice cream for desserts. The food was yumm but I believe the taste and quantity could have been better. This was my 3rd time here and still remains a favourite keeping aside the little flaws.
Manju Saha
Can u let me know if Thalis are still available here. And if yes, which Thalis are found and will it good for a Bengali special treat. Kindly let me know.
Antara Chakrabarty
We visited the restaurant on a Friday afternoon. This is the perfect place if you're looking for authentic Bengali cuisine. These are my reviews.<br/>1. Ambiance: a proper family restaurant with light music in the background, really soothing. The best part is the hygiene and cleanliness, everything is well maintained.<br/><br/>2. Food: we opted for the buffet. These were the available options in the Friday menu:<br/>Complimentary drink: lebur sharbat<br/>-Veg: Lachcha salad, Luchi, potol bhaja, borboti aalu bhaja, shada bhaat, Chhanar kalia, biulir daal, fulkopi.<br/>-Non-veg: Tangra machher jhol, chicken cutlet, Doi murgi, mangsho jhol<br/><br/>Dessert: papad, anarosher chatni, bhapa doi, gulaab jamun.<br/><br/>I must say all the items were finely cooked. However, the fish curry and daal could have been better, it was a bit plain compared to the other dishes. Chhanar kalia was really good. The meat dishes were equally tasty.<br/><br/>3. Service: the waiters were really polite. And the service was satisfactory.<br/><br/>3. Value for money: these many items for the amount paid is really reasonable. Hence, I would really recommend 6 Ballygunge Place for a delightful bengali lunch.

Place for Bong delicay in Guwahati. Heard to spot but once you locate it and get in for some yummy Bengali food. Menu covers almost all Bong favorites you can start with 'Fish Kabiraj' and 'Mochar Chop'<br/><br/>Than go ahead and order , plain white rice, jhurjure aloo bhaja, cholar daal and than order your favourites from fish or chicken or mutton and enjoy...(insist of fresh fish, coz frozen might not taste great)<br/><br/>'Channar Malpoa' for extreme sweet experience. Enjoy!
Asmita Talukder
Service needs improvement a lot... Had to ask for finger bowl multiple times but no luck. Ultimately I rudely was asked to use wash room.<br/><br/>Food quality is getting deteriorating from excellent to nothing excellent category.

We went to this place during our visit to Guwahati a couple of days back. I must say we relished the authentic Bong food served here. We called for the Veg and Non veg thali (with prawns malai curry). We definately enjoyed every bit served on the plate. The kosha Mangsho was the highlight! Hopefully if we get back to guwahati this place would be a Must-visit!!<br/>
Bidisha Ghosh
went for a family lunch and was pleased with the sumptuous food served.the fish kabiraji cutlets, channar dalna are a must have, though the malai chingri n chicken was average. go for it if you have bong food on your mind.

Ambarish Siddhanta
Best restaurant for Bengali cuisine in Guwahati. There can be no better way than this to describe 6 Ballygunge Place. THE place for top quality, tasty, ethnic Bengali food.
Shreyasee Deb
Perfect Bengali dishes to savour at reasonable price. If you are having a family date, this is one of the places you must go to. The service is brilliant. However, the ambience can be worked upon.
Rishiraj Baruah
The restaurant in great in terms of the Kolkata branch but the Guwahati branch is nowhere near. The mutton was undercooked and over spicy, the buffet choices was very limited. The prawn malai curry is the worst I’ve ever had in my life. The Rohu Kalia doesn’t deserve to be addressed as a Kalia. I have to agree that the Kosha Mangsho was good but could’ve been better. The positive part was that the staff very nice and courteous. Awesome service. I think they should change their chef. He/She is definitely not doing their job right. The 1 is for staff else the rating should have been 0. The food was really bad. I am sure the people in Guwahati have given them a rating of 4.1 basis the fact that generally you get substandard food in Guwahati. If they happen to taste the food of the Kolkata branch than they would stop going to the Guwahati branch. Today I came to know the true nature of wasting money by paying the food bill here
Monisha Dhar
The food was too good.<br/>If you are searching for some good Bengali food..<br/>Do visit this restaurant...<br/>Try the mutton and dab chingri here...it is finger licking....❤

Bengali food lovers , this place is a must visit for you . And the food is worth the price . Do try their mutton and bhetki , they top the menu . Being a fan of Bengali food, we decided to come to this place for an anniversary lunch. I loved their plates because of the designs, it was very ‘Bong’ <br/><br/>For starters we ordered -<br/>1. Fish Kabiraji - This was a tad bit oily, but that’s what makes it yummy, right? We loved the crispy cutlets but since main course was on our minds too, we didn’t repeat it!<br/>2. Pantharas - I hadn’t ever heard of this, so we ordered one to try. These are cutlets if sorts filled with minced meat. Not bad <br/><br/>For main course - <br/>3. Jhuri alu bhaja - cannot have a quintessential Bengali fare sans alu! So we ordered two of these <br/>4. Dab Chingri - Prawns in a coconut - tender, creamy and finger-licking good! <br/>5. Chitol macher muitha - another dish that I haven’t tried before - this one comes with chitol maach in a sort of sausage like shape in a spicy gravy. Good for winter! <br/>6. Lal Murgi - This is a fiery dish of chicken. It goes very well with rice<br/>7. Kosha Mangsho and Luchi- the most favourite combination ever! The mutton was good, and the luchis complimented the dish! We loved this! <br/><br/>We also had a wonderful gondhoraj lebu flavoured drink which is very refreshing. <br/><br/>Good ambience, prompt service and decently good food. :)

This place is for you if you want to taste good Bengali food. The place is cozy and located in Ulubari. The staff is very courteous. About the food. The fish kabab was great. The dab chingri was delicious. And the baked desert was awesome. They provided a discount also.<br/>Do visit this once. Value for money

Loved the food of the place. They serve one of the best Bengali food . The varieties of fish dishes is what you can enjoy the most. And the deserts are a must try. All the deserts have a awesome and Delicious taste. Nolen Gurer ice cream , indrani was the best . Overall I Recommended you this place and if you love fish and Bengali Cuisine this is a must go for you .

The menu is completely maid for a Bengali tummy. The got the sweet chutney and it's must to fill up your tummy after a meal! Mutton is finger licking, and cripsy potato fry is recommended to try!
Food Nd Neha
This our go to place for big family gatherings and meetings over Bengali food. The buffet spread is really good..and their very own version of death by sweetness-nolen gur er ice cream :D

Nice food, good ambience and good service. A satisfying experience. Fish and meat dishes are good, the Pea Kachori is awesome too. The quantity is on the lesser side though.

A good place for ethnic Bengali thali & buffet. We’re suggested to try the buffet. Started with the puri & begun bhaji, the buffet is rich with doi mangsho, vapa eelish and a lots of other items. A good place for family dine in. Lovely ambience and the slow Bengali instrumental songs just made my day. <br/>Will surely be there once again.
Sonam Crystal
I think being a Bengali I always wanted a place where I can b served good Bengali cuisine and I have almost found it . I love this restaurant the food has the touch of authentic Bengali cuisine . I had tasted the gondhoraj chicken and pantharas as starter and it’s best appetiser I have tasted , Dab chingri and Bhapa ilish is too good to miss and for desert we tasted the chhanar malpoa and I still miss it . Although radhaballavi was not great but still you can try .

Best bengali restaurant in town i guess... The food is excellent... Went three times for proper dinning and i have never been dissapointed be it the food or the ambience. Recently visited there Illish mach festival or Hilsah Fish Festival and spending each pennyon the food was worth. My friend visited me recently and she loved every bit if it. We had Gondhoraj illish, mochar paturi, illish macher beguner dolma, jhur jhure alu bhaji, Chingri malai curry. The jhur jhure alu bhaji and mochar paturi are my all time vegetarian favourite in that place . You can have the rice with the dal and mochar paturi and alu bhaji and still u wont complain. Everything else was awesome. Even there Mukhawas is delicious i shall say 😜 please visit this place for dinner or lunch and you will not be disappointed.
Sahana Bhattacharjee
The veg buffet menu is very poor. The starters and desserts are still fine, but the main course sucks. All I was provided with is 2 curries having the same ingredients! Price is way too high in regards to the quality and quantity of food... I'd advise a vegetarian person to strictly avoid this restaurant! <br/>
Maddy
Its a famous outlet of Kolkata.....when I came to know about its opening, I was so excited....tried their buffet section n from ala carta tried their Elish bhapa...food was good but the service lack...<br/>I went there a year back n reviewing it nw...so hope their service have copped up!! They have lso served us complimentary jaljeera drink...<br/>What I dint like is that we have asked one of the server to serve rice on d table,as my mom was having joint pain bt he refused that was not all professionalism neway later on one of the server came n served the rice.
Nandita Bordoloi
This place famous for its authentic Bengali cuisine, the best food to have here is anything that consists of fish in it,and talking of fish what I enjoyed the most was the Bhapa Ilish,it was delicious!😋
Sanjana Bhattacharyya
Went for a Sunday lunch and opted for a buffet. The place is nice but the ambience left a lot to be desired. For one, being a Bengali restaurant, so much can be done with the decor instead of the generic, modern look. The music playing was instrumental, highly jazzified versions of Rabindrasangeet. A lot more authenticy could be added in both; would certainly add to the experience.<br/><br/>Coming to the food- good quality, quite authentic and almost at par with the Kolkata branch in terms of flavors. However, the buffet spread was dreadfully limited. For complimentary drinks, a refreshing ghol was served. They served Radhaballavi, cholar dal, begun bhaja and chicken chop in starters. The chicken chop had too much potato filling to be good and the radhaballavi, while fluffy and delicious, craved for a side of aloor dum. The shukto was nice and milky, the potol curry with mustard and coconut milk had flavors on point. There was plain rice and peas pulao for rice. While I liked the peas pulao, I feel a Bengali buffet is incomplete without Basanti pulao. The katla macher kalia was delicious and the quality of fish was amazing- fresh and soft. The chicken dish was okay- the preparation smelled of raw mustard oil, which didn't go well. The mutton duck bungalow was just too good- the meat was soft and well braised in the deep red, rich gravy.<br/><br/>There was chatni-papod, a good palate cleanser. The dessert was disappointing. Only langcha and cham cham which were both a far cry from the mishtis of Kolkata in terms of quality- not soft enough and too sweet (the mark of a true Bengali mishti is mellow sweetness).<br/><br/>Another thing I noticed is that the servers need to be trained better in Bengali food. When people, who might not know much about the cuisine ask for recommendations, the servers fall short. Something similar happened to a couple sitting in our vicinity. While I, a Bengali and brought up with this food, may know what I want, good recommendations leave lasting impressions in people experimenting with new cuisines.

It is a total sixer! Fancy Bengali restaurant with some unique collection of authentic bengali dishes. They serve every food in a different way. Try the Dab Singri, u'll love it for sure. Staffs are friendly and ambience is beautiful. Last but not the least don't forget to try the Nolen Gurer Icecream!

For quite a long time i wanted to visit this place as i have read and heard very good reviews of this place. So finally i did got a chance to visit this place on my parents 31st marraige anniversary. Fisrtly the decors of this place are nice and soothing, the light music played in the background adds a very nice feeling. The staff were very courteous... special mention to the manager. There was a party going on so we had a bit of waiting time in that mean time the manager guided us through the menu. We oredered Fish fry for starters, steamed rice, moong dal, jhuri aloo bhaja, begun bhaja, lal murgi, doi illish, dav chingri. The food was awesum ,each dish had its own taste and held its flavour. The Manager very friendly and asked reviews about the dishes. For dessert we ordered mihidana baked rabdi and nolen gurer ice cream. Overall the food and experiance was awesum and wud suggest all food lovers spclly who love bengali food give a visit here..

EVENT REVIEW :ILISH FOOD FESTIVAL, 6 BALLYGUNGE PLACE GUWAHATI <br/><br/>Ilish is not just a fish on the plate, it is an emotion. And not me, but every Bengali will relate to this sentiment. Debates between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal supporters are less vehement than between the supporters of Gonga and Padma(a river in Bangladesh) Ilish. The Maacher Raja (King of Fishes) and it's rich taste has grown it's own special memory cells in our taste buds. <br/><br/>This love for Ilish landed us in the ongoing ILISH FOOD FESTIVAL going on at 6 Ballygunge Place, Ulubari, Guwahati. The red menu was tempting enough to make us drool. It had 9 ilish cuisines, all exclusively of Bengali origin, both eparer and oparer (both Indian and Bangladeshi hilsa cuisines) <br/>Few of the items caught our special attention, like Gobindobhog ilish, Aam Kashundi ilish, Kacha Aam diye Ilish macher roll. <br/><br/>We ordered these from the Festival soecial menu. <br/><br/>For pep up cooler, we had GONDHORAJ GHOL, which is a aromatic yogurt based drink flavoured with Bengalis wondrous citrus, Gondhoraaj lebu, a cross between a lime and mandarin orange, sending us into paroxysms of joy. <br/><br/>From the Food fest menu, we ordered the following delicacies:<br/><br/> GOBINDOBHOG ILISH :think biryani, with all the assortment of spices and the queen Ilish, and we have an equivalent of a piece of heaven on our plates. An unputdownable for monsoons, this dish takes on the flavour of Ilish like none else. <br/><br/>AAM KASUNDI DIYE ILISH MAACH: Steamed Hilsa flavoured with Mango and Kasundi (Exclusively Bengali Black mustard sauce) is time-tested classic. Its rich and sharp taste with a hint of sweet and sourness coming from the unripe mangoes is enough to send us into reels. <br/><br/>From the ala carte, we had Steamed rice and the very yummy assortment of lentils MOONG MOHAN, which had the aroma of mango, ginger, coconut and rich condiments. <br/><br/>KAACHA AAMER MISHTI CHATNI: A delectable pre-dessert, spicy, sticky, thick and droolsome all the same, with big chunks of unripe mangoes. <br/><br/>And the finale, the dessert, <br/>BAKED MIHIDANA WITH RABDI: Legend has it that these fine grains of deep fried besan, soaked in sugar syrup were created to appease Viceroy Lord Curzon on his visit to Bardhaman. This delicacy, when topped with Rabdi (thickened and flavoured milk) and baked, was a gourmet's heaven! <br/><br/>So with this, we completed our 'Bhuri-Bhoj'. Ilish food festival is one big foodgoal achievement and is a must try for all Ilish lovers out there. The queen of fishes is bound to never disappoint her subjects, take my word for it.

I heard a lot abt this place n yes it met my expectations... tasty food with good ambience... N service is excellent.....though taste was A+ bt i felt ilish fish for one piece costing 495 is little overpriced ... Bt those who want to ignore the price of ilish and want tasty bengali cuisine go for it

So,this year on International women's day me and one of my friend visited this place. We were greeted warmly and were even offered flowers by the staff. The staff members are really polite and they take goodcare of their customers.Service is pretty fast. And the interior is clean and good.<br/>I ordered baked mihidana with rabdi which tasted phenomenal.Loved it! It is a typical bengali restro. One's who love bengali food should definitely visit this place. Value for money is good too.<br/>And the best part was at the time of paying bill,we were offered crushed betel leaf and nut which tasted far better and different from the normal one's ,that we get in the market.

Price is just little high...only problem is they charge rs50 for a packaged water bottle....which is already at its MRP.<br/>Ambience - it's clean n bright. This has one of the tastiest food in the entire city. The ambience is better than 16 Anna and the food is also heaven loved. Will surely book this time during durga puja. Thalis are little cheaper than the special weekends but quality and taste wise nothing is compromised. 5 stars for them to be here.

The ambience was good but taste wise if I have to rate then I would give 2.5 kind of a rating. Rates are on the higher side when you compare with other Bengali Restaurant. I will not recommend to anyone as there are better Bengali Cuisine & Restaurant in Guwahati. Service was good but taste of food is not up to the mark.<br/><br/>

This is the best bengali restaurant in town! The have a buffet spread for lunch everyday, and the items they serve are excellent, it includes various items for the veg as well as the non veg folks, total value for money. The ambience is very ethnic, with traditional bengali designs all over their interiors as well as on their cutlery items. Some of their excellent items are rui macher kalia, daab chingri, bhapa ilish, kasha mangsho, one must try these! Also they have a wide range of starters, unlike other bengali restaurants! And personally I love their ilish thali, filled with all sort of ilish items, an ilish lover must try that thali, also their desserts are too yumm. Specially the baked sandesh and baked pantua are too good.

A must try if you like Bengali food! The ambience is nice and the service is great. I loved their Cholar daal and the chef's special Bhetki maas. The cholar daal had coconut pieces along with cashew. Totally loved it. Special mention is the Nolen gurer ice cream, which was too good! The prices are a bit on the higher end. But it is totally worth it. Definitely coming back again.

A nice restaurant with authentic bengali cuisine..they have both buffet and à la carte.. frankly speaking i didn't expect buffet to have that good variety but to my surprise they did..it had bhetki machher patori, kosha mangsho, shukto, beguni, chicken curry, raita in the main course and luchi with aloo fulgobir shobji in the starters. Bhapa doi, gulab jamun chhana diye and payesh in the desserts.

I often visit this place with my family... but I am surprised today by hearing that Mr. Shibu Acharya of Guwahati has been transferred but I personally think that he is the main man behind the success of the Restaurent. His repo with the guests is very good... so I think that he must be reinstated to his place again otherwise it will be a big loss to the company....

Finally visited this much hyped place. <br/>The ambiance is pleasant and the staff very helpful. <br/>I visited this place with my family for the lunch buffet so we could sample multiple dishes. Though the food was presented beautifully, the lack of heated tables resulted in not too warm gravies by the time we visited for seconds.<br/>What we had:<br/>Started with Gondhoraj Ghol ( lassi prepared with thick sweetened curd and Gondhoraj Lemon & lemon zest ) it was tasty and refreshing drink. You must try as no other place in my knowledge in Guwahati serves it. <br/>Crumb Fried Fish Fillets were crunchy & delightful with their signature mustard infused marinate and tasty great with kasundi mustard ( a traditional Bengali mustard dip, the one they had gave you that mustard kick which I always look for in kasundi. You don't get it this pungent these days). I had quite a many of these.<br/>Next they brought in piping hot & puffy Radha Bhollovi to the table. They were really tasty with the gravy dishes.<br/>On the buffet :<br/>Steamed rice & Veg bori diye pulao( the pulao was 4/5. Had masoor dal bori n veggies prepared in ghee)<br/>Dal was pleasant n light prepared in a homely manner 4/5<br/>Jhuro alu vaja was nice ( crispy fried sticks of potato) 4/5<br/>Posto Bata diye alu Dom 3.5/5 ( prepared with poppyseed & mustard paste)<br/>Chanar Kalia 3/5 was kinda pleasant with a sweet gravy. ( Paneer tikki cooked in a gravy)<br/>Chingri malai kari 3.5/5 the gravy was nice but the prawns tasted a bit different. Not fresh for sure.<br/>Doi murgi 4/5 this preparation was nice with curd based gravy.<br/>Kosha mangsho 2.5/5 I wish this was better. The gravy was okeyish but the sad thing was the mutton though chunky n tender did not taste good.<br/>The desserts lifted the spirits.<br/>Bhapa doi 4/5 steamed milk n condensed milk preparation was delicious.<br/>Komola bhog 4.5/5 also very tasty n best part, it was not too sweet.<br/>Overall the experience was nice if you consider Guwahati. The food was as good as it gets out of any Bongs' home in this part of the country.<br/>It's a must visit place.<br/>

Had lunch at the buffet. The good was quite monotonous and bland. Even though the gravy for some items were good, they failed to cope up with the overall aesthetic and taste of the dish. Even the desserts were not up to the expectations.

Went in here for lunch after almost a year and was fully satisfied yet again with their amazing food.<br/>They pretty much serve authentic Bengali cuisine as meant to be and the menu selection is quite qide too.<br/>The service is pretty quick and on Sunday's you could expect quite a rush, infact a waiting line was there when we reached.<br/><br/>What I tried:<br/><br/>Ilish Paturi - decently grilled fish wrapped in banana leaves and heavy on the mustard. Fish lovers would enjoy this<br/><br/>Aloo Masala Dum - this was outstanding. I could go on eating this<br/><br/>Channar Dalna - battered panner in a unique gravy which was amazing. The gravy would go so well with rice too.<br/><br/>Luchi - some puris came too good ,some okayish but served hot and you could eat to no end<br/><br/>Nolen Gur Ice-cream - this is their star dessert. Had a couple of them and waiting to go back for more<br/><br/>Baked Sandesh - again well done. Less sweet so tasted good<br/><br/>Mishti Doi - something was wrong with this.<br/><br/>The prices are decent and the service is pretty quick. Cant wait to go back and try their other stuff

Have been there once. And as almost always my sister and me went for the buffet as we both believe that is the best way to know about a restaurant. Loved the food and the service was also very good. This place is located near Lachit Nagar Bus stop in Guwahati

Visited this place a few days ago and well , it was not entirely a bad experience. Had Gondhoraj Chicken in the starters , and it was okay, not so great. In the main course we had Rice, Chholar Dal, Chhanar Dalna, Bhapa Ilish, and Kancha Lanka Dhonepata Murgi. The Chholar Dal and Chhanar Dalna were especially well cooked, and the Murgi was tender and cooked with a nice combination of flavors too. But the Bhapa Ilish was not that praiseworthy. The 'Nolen Gurer Ice Cream' was the best dish for me. It was too good. Only the prices are bit high compared to the dishes they serve. Otherwise the staff  is courteous and the ambience is okay. Ideal for lunch , but only for a one time visit.

Want to trip on some authentic Bengali cuisines? Head to 6 ballygunge place. As a famous food chain from the city of joy it has made a point to grip the hearts of the food lovers of guwahati too. The food tastes amazing with good quantity and quality as well and price is, even though a bit above pocket friendly, kinda reasonable. I loved the ambience with the giant poster of princep monument stuck to the wall (makes me miss Kolkata every time I go there) and the well laid buffet with amicable waiters and managers.<br/>There is no fixed amount for home delivery, so if you can't enjoy the good sitting there, you can still enjoy it from home.<br/>Things you can try :<br/>1. Kancha Lanka dhonepata murgi (a chicken recipe that is good for mild chilli eaters like me, with also a mild inclusion of fresh coriander leaves)<br/>2. Bhapa bhetki (barramundi fish with steamed gondhoraj lemon)<br/>3. Dab chingri (though I don't eat prawns myself, my fellow foodie mate had it it told me it was too yum and almost divine)<br/>4. Bhetki paturi (this one is smeared with loads of mustard seed paste and select spices and herbs and wrapped and steamed in tender banana leaves, leaving a sweet and lingering aroma even when it's long after you've licked your fingers clean. My personal favorite!)<br/>Wow writing this review made me hungry. Brb. Time for some foodgasm again!<br/>
