Review Kasturi Restaurant - Guwahati

ADITI DEY
The food was really good, both quantity and quality wise. We (2) had Basanti polao, chicken kosha and jhuri aloo bhaja. But due to the Durga Puja rush I guess, the items in the menu were limited. But to get proper bengali food away from West Bengal, this is a must go place in Guwahati.
Swarupakshya Das
We ordered the following: 1. Bhetki Kobiraji- it was the same Bhetki cutlet covered in egg..better go for the cutlet itself 2. Bhetki cutlet- recommended (kasundi chutney included with it is awesome) 3. Prawn Pulao-Rice fried with green chilli and prawn, salty in taste, average dish unless ur a die hard prawn guy 4. Mutton curry-recommended, potato included with 4 good sized pieces of mutton 5. Sona Moong dal with green peas-ok dish to go with steamed rice 6. Aloo Juri Bhaja-recommended 7. Chicken Kosha-ok dish 8. Plain Rice Above was more than sufficient for three of us and the bill amounted to 1900 Ambience is family friendly and quite comfortable however the restaurant itself is hard to find, parking may be difficult but luckily we visited on a Sunday

One of the best restaurant to have bengali cuisine. I visited this place specially to have bhetki fish. The cutlet was awsm.. crispy and very moist 😋 The aam panna was refreshing. Would like to visit again for an entire bengali meal. The items are abit pricy in comparison to the quantity served
Amit Kr Majumdar
Good bengali cuisine however however a bit pricey when the served portion is taken into consideration. Food taste is absolutely delicious & homely (except chicken which not recommended at all). Definitely recommended for a visit to have a nice family lunch.
KANGBURA TERANG

Mutton Kosha: Tender mutton in rich, aromatic spices, a must-try for authentic Bengali cuisine. Fish Kabiraji: Crispy fish in a golden-brown batter with Bengali spices, a flavorful and satisfying dish Prawn Malaikari: Exquisite prawns in a creamy coconut curry with subtle spices, offering a harmonious and rich Bengali culinary experience. Also , must try "Jamidar Thali" it's also awesome. Lunch date- 29-10-2023

All traditional bengali dishes ...!!! Options for starters is less..!!! Kochu chingri is awesome..definitely try this out..!! Chitol macher moitha ....bhetki paturi...bhetki cutlet...Bhapa Ilish are some of the best dishes available in the menu..!! Prawn malai curry, mutton kosha and Choshi payesh are average dishes and and a bit over priced. Try nolin gurer ice cream for dessert...!! Serving time is around 20 minutes..!! The staff is polite...!!!

Food and hygiene can be a little bit better ..

This Restaurant is huge and they are serving very delicious food but the cost is high for unreasonable reasons. They have variety of fish curries and mutton and chicken. I haven eaten the best mutton from this restaurant. Parking is available. Staff is professional.

Excellent! We savoured every last morsel of the food be it Muittha, Mutton Kosha or Chicken Bhuna!

Went to that building for attdnding another restaurant, but that was closed and found this one in another floor if same building. From the name no such great expectation was there, still thought of giving a shot. The COVID safety at entrance and interior decoration grabbed the attention in the beginning only. Large TV screen is ideal for watching IPL while waiting for the order.. The menu book was full of uncommon items, especially traditional Bengali items. As it is clearly mentioned that food items in Kasturi is inspired from Dhaka, no wonder the bongs who are lazy or unable to prepare authentic traditional Bengali food, they would simply fall in love with the place. Ordered steamed prawn with kachu pata which was very tasty with rice. But the quantity of food is a great issue there, I guess, along with price issue. Spent around 350/- including GST but I remained much hungry because of that reason! So if you are heavy on pocket, you may visit the place often or else one/two visit in a year is the only option.
Ezaz Hazarika
Great place for Bengali cuisine, convenient location with decent underground parking. Plan your visit with a small number, you can plan a bigger outing with more guests later.
Parag Jyoti Borah
The food is definitely not worth the price and they serve a very little quantity.

We went for a nice Sunday lunch today as a family. We had a wonderful time with our server being one of the best. He knew what to suggest and how much. It is my first visit to a restaurant in Guwahati after 2.5 years and I was very pleased. The bill was approx. 3500 for four adults, quite reasonable. Definitely coming back again.
Debamalya Chowdhury
Good food, great ambience. Best place to dine in Guwahati. I loved kochu chingri
Aditi Borthakur
Taste wise average, but quantity wise really less.. Even for two people. In prawn with koshu, there was hardly any prawn. Quality and nonveg components in dishes need to improve.
Mahua Das
Each dish was tasty. Ambience too is neat.<br/>
Sohail Anjuman
The food was served cold with quantity not enough for a single person. Charging such high rates the amount of food served is not at all satisfactory... "Team Kasturi" i would request you to atleast serve a good portion for that amount of price.
Bhakti Pattanaik
Tried this restaurant on my trip to North-East. Amidst all the items we ordered, Kochu Pata Diye Chingri Bhaapa was outstanding. I don't eat prawns as such. But this speciality of the brand left me crave for more. Service is good and staff are friendly, they help us choose the dishes for us. Prices are on higher side , but it's worth a try.

Really disappointed on saptami ni8...Dre ws special puja menu which was highly priced..Quantity ws very bad not enough for evn 1 person..jst 1plate rice, 1plate basanti pulao, 1plate mutton bill was 1500..Will never visit again

I like the food over here. Nothing extraordinary but not bad at all. Quantity wise less. Prices are good. Writing this review because I had a very bad experience today. One of their staff, I don't know his name.. but the guy has a cut mark kind of over his lips, was so impolite. The 1st time I called him to serve me some of the rice which was remaining in the bowl, he almost threw the rice on my plate. After that I asked him to give a small bowl for the daal, he gave a dirty bowl and kept it far from me on the table. Finally when I was done with the food, I called him to clear the plates. From a distance he asked me rudely, what do you want? I politely asked him to clear the plates and asked for a finger bowl. He directly pointed towards the wash basin. I lost my cool then, I was like, I want a finger bowl ok. Next time you visit this restaurant, please make sure this guy with a cut mark over his lips doesn't serve you. He is very impolite and rude. I also request the management, if they are at all reading this, to take at least some of action. Because the behaviour of the staff really adds to the value of a restaurant. If the service is not good, the satisfaction level automatically comes down! Really disappointed this time, not because of anything else, but just because of the rough attitude of one of their staff members!
P.Baishya
The dal, aloo bhujia and vegetable was really very nice.<br/>Basanti pulao and mutton daak were the show stoppers! They also sign off the mini thaki with hot gulab jamun..Surely a place worth visiting..We had ordered 2 mini thalis ,1 basanti pulao and 1 mutton daak bungalow..The final bill was ₹1300...Worth the money i would say!
Rahul Kambli
It was good. I had prawns malai curry in some coconut it was served and steamed fish. Both were good. A bit difficult to locate the restaurant but its on the road

Yesterday i visited the place with my family<br/>.<br/>We order Steamed rice, Sona Moong Dal with Peas, Jhuri alu bhaja, Paneer Pakora, Mutton Kosa, Kochu Chinri, Bhetki Bhapa, Bhapa Ilish...❤<br/>All are items are Awesome..specially the KOCHU CHINRI❤❤
Prateek Singhal
An extremely outstanding and fantastically authentic Bengali cuisine restaurant in Guwahati - the best I have come here so far.<br/><br/>For starters I had ordered the Ilish Bhapa, which was mind blowing good and Aloo Bhaja which was amazing too. For the main course, I ordered Mutton Kosha Mangsho and Luchi, both of which were fabulous. In the dessert, I had my favorite, Mishti Doi which was again out of this world.<br/><br/>Despite this, the reason that I gave 4 out of 5 ratings is due to the attitude of the waiters which was cold, callous and turning of. The management should take better steps to match the quality of the food here with that of their hospitality, which is an eesential component of the culinary industry as well.
RITUPARNA ROY
If you want to have an ultimate bengali cuisine, this is the place. Even though, price is slightly on the higher side, you won't be disappointed.
Nachiketa Purkayastha
One of the best Bengali Cuisine Restaurant in Guwahati with pocket friendly price. A good place for lunch and dinner along with friends and families.
Kaushik Kalita
Food served was very bad quality. 2 days old food served. Please avoid this restaurant if you want to stay healthy.<br/>The restaurant staff didn't even bother to apologize.<br/>Disgusting!!

We ordered chicken dhakai bhuna and steamed prawn in kochu pata through food delivery. Service was quick and food was quite good. The prawn dish was very unique and delicious. The chicken dish was delicious as well and i found the price quite reasonable too.

A very nice place meant for Bengali food lovers. They provide you with a variety of dishes, all ready to eat within minutes of ordering. Very fast service, delicious food and a wide spectrum of dishes makes it a must go place wheneverbyou step your foot in Guwahati.
Kangkan Talukdar
The place is good, the ambience, the environment, the staff. Coming to the food it was awesome, the prawns and the tomato bhetki were really good but what spoiled the entire experience for me was the chicken rezala because they served us a stale dish. Yes stale you heard it right. It was tasting all sour and when i enquired they said it has gone bad. I could have fallen seriously ill if i would have eaten that. They chef, kitchen staff should be careful about all this. Would I recommend this place. Yes actually just enquire about anything you find tasting funny or different.
Paulami Bhowal
Good food, good taste, totally Bengali cuisines. Cost makes food not so satisfactory. Good to have lunch or dinner with family. Hope to visit again in festive seasons mainly.
Rajib Sarma
Great place for Bengali food lovers. Fish delicacies are the ones to be ordered. Veggies do not have much of choice. Need to have more of veg items.
Arka Chakraborty
The place is well arranged and spacious. Typical tasty unique bengali foods can be found. Preparation is above average. The service is good with warm smile. Overall experience was good.

Awesome place for bengali food lovers ❤...loved their sheel-e-bata chutneys, mutton kosha and hot gulab jamun❤...the staffs were also friendly.
Rajnish Duara
Best Bengali (Dhakai) food in Guwahati. Unlike other Bengali restaurants, we didn't see any floating oil on the dishes. The Kochu Pateyr Chingri is their signature dish and truly it maintains its mark here too. Their Dhania Chicken is good. Bhappa Hilsa (Eelish) is truly wonderful.
Diksha
Bengali cuisines never tend to disappoint me. This place serves varieties of Bengali food. I couldn't hold my excitement when we started the meal with the Posto Bora as starters. We ordered Dhokar Dalna ( which you must definitely taste ), Bhetki Paturi is steamed fish prepared with mustard wrapped in a banana left or Kola pata which tasted purely ethnic and such good smell. How can one miss Bhapa Hilsha! But I felt this particular dish was average as it had more mustard and the gravy was a bit dry. Mutton Kosha was quite spicy and balanced the taste with a rich flavour to offer, this dish one must definitely try. Special mention goes to Kasturi's signature dish which was made of Kochu paat and prawn, it was appetizing. Lastly, had Choshir Payesh and Nolen Gurer Ice-cream. Nolen Gurer Ice-cream is made of Jaggery(Gur), you can only imagine how tasty it could be! 😊 I loved the Ice-cream the most, a perfect ending to a perfect meal.<br/><br/>Apart from the food, the ambience and the staff can make you feel homely. I enjoyed all the 90s music they were playing.<br/>One of the best evening! ❤<br/>
Abhilasha Bora
The place serves some really good fish, whether it’s Hilsa or prawns or pomfret. Tried a bunch of items, but the item that particularly stood out for me is the Steamed prawn in Kochu pata (Colocasia leaves). I would recommend that for sure. The service is pretty good too, only that it took quite some time to bring out the food. Other than that, the place definitely deserves a thumbs up!
Meghna Das Nandi
Heard a lot about this place so finally got the chance to hit the place with family. First impression comes from the ambience which was good. Then we ordered non veg thalis with dhakai bhuna chingri. Must say they were pretty generous on quantity of each item on the thali. Yet our favourite item was the 🐔 kosha. Other items were ok. Price was reasonable. Staff service was also good. Overall a good experience.
Birty Terangpi
I don't have much idea about Bengali cuisine, would love to try some more items. I expected a better fish dish and mutton but it wasn't up to my expectations. Overall it was okay.

A good place to soothe your Bengali cravings!!.. You can find a wide range to choose from. Love their kochupata chingri bhapa and nolengurer icecream, must try.<br/>Ambience- 3/5<br/>Taste- 4.5/5<br/>Service- 4/5<br/>Price- 4/5
Iftekhar Hussain
The quality of ruhi fish in ruhi Kalia was bad, being a fish lover we know about the quality of fishes. The fish seems to be sitting on the freezer for too long. please pull up your socks, Kasturi brand value should be remembered before serving has bad fish .
Ankita Gupta
Regular customer. Never disappointed. Unbeatable menu and items nicely done. The bhapa ilish is an all time favorite. Slightly pricey compared to the Kolkata outlets is the only small downside. But that is totally compensated by the authentic flavours. 5 stars👍
Anirban Paul
This is part of the famous kasturi chain of restaurant of Kolkata. Having been to their Kolkata outlet , the food here was a little below par but none the less good. The service was very nice and the waiters helped out with the order. Some items were not available ( much to my disappointment). Being a Bengali it is very difficult to find a place which serves Bengal food and which can satisfy the Bengali foodie in you. This place though was almost there to the point of satisfaction.
Food Nd Neha
The only reason kasturi gets a 5 from me is "kochu chingri" and motorshuti diye dal. No one makes it better. If looking for a wider spread there are better Bengali restaurant options. When in kasturi order a veg thali and kochu chingri. Pure tripti :D
Maitreyee Mukherjee
Pathetic! Hated the food. It was yuck!!! For paneer pakoda they served uncooked paneer in tasteless batter... Once the batter came off it was white tasteless paneer. Mutton kosha was so spicy n oily that it made my eyes teary n ears burn. Too much oily basanti pulao... Smelly bhetki cutlet... Very bad experience.. Spoilt my mood with their bad food.
Ankita Dutta
Wonderful place to hang out with family and friends too. Specially I like the basanti pulao and mutton there but the rest are also good too. Pure essence of Bengali Food. But the servicing time should take less time.
Rakesh Mazumdar
Quality of the food is very good... quantity is much less/ price is too high. The thalis also consists less number of items. There are other good quality restaurants where more quantity or more number of items are provided at the same price range.

Excellent place to go with family, friends and special one.Excellent interior, good service and good food.Famous for Fish dishes and prices are pocket friendly.....

I've been to Kasturi's Kolkata restaurant more times than I can count. I love it so much and it has kept its standards high in terms of food. This was the second time I went to the Guwahati branch. The same standards have been maintained here too.<br/><br/>I ordered the following:<br/><br/>1. Basanti pulao- its ghee-laden and aromatic, butthe second time I ate this in the Guwahati branch, the balance of sweet and salty was missing. Flavorful, nonetheless.<br/><br/>2. Dhokar dalna- with the earthy flavor of asafoetida, this Bengali version of Gatte ki Sabzi is great veg. side dish.<br/><br/>3. Kochu patay chingri bhapa- this is a must-eat at Kasturi and I order it every single time. It's prawn steamed in arum leaves with mustard paste. Delectable.<br/><br/>3. Pabdar begun bori jhol- This light pabda fish curry with brinjal was quite tasty.<br/><br/>4. Chitol mache muithha- This is a rich gravy of Chital fish cakes. A quintessentially Bangal (East Bengali) dish and Kasturi makes it well. Fish cakes do not have filler.<br/><br/>5. Mourala macher chorchori- Another tasty mustard-based, dry curry of small Mourala fishes.<br/><br/>6. Chicken dak bungalow- Thick, spicy and yogurt-based chicken gravy. It tastes good but traditionally dak bungalow is served with a sliced boiled egg. Missed that.<br/><br/>7. Mutton kosha- The very common homecooking mutton dish in Bengal- this is a dark, rich gravy of mutton. Every bit as good as my Mom's! Though mutton could have been a bit more tender. The portion of mutton was also quite small.<br/><br/>Overall, it is a good experience to eat authentic Bengali food in Assam and I personally thank Kasturi for its unwavering standards.
Nabanita Deb
After digging out the delicacies many times in Kolkata, we were delighted to find out Kasturi in Guwahati. That was the biggest mistake we made. A Bengali cuisine, with anyone from Bengal is making the outlet run. The result is that you would often pinch yourself to bleed only to realise that the food tasted horribly different from that of their main outlets in Kolkata. My request to the management is to take firm actions regarding this as you can give your recipe but you cannot give your taste unless the cook is thoroughly trained with the taste and heritage. The food we had on the eve of Ashtami was also served cold, pale and stale in taste as if it was prepared many hours ago.
Joy Bose
Everytime i visit the place i found it better and this time in durga puja its like hmmmm yummmy what a food great in taste and quality....awasome bhetki paturi the best one....sorshe ilish ....kochi pathar mangso kasa....my only complain is with their quantity given please give more quantity so that we can enjoy more......loving it kasturi
Tanaya Purkayastha
Service appreciated...Traditional bengali food..tastes good..i m a die heart foodie especially bengali food..Kasturi is the first name that comes in mind for traditional bengali food..Kochu chingri is awesome..Waiters are gentle..Nice ambeience.. Overall worthy to visit again & again..
Khushi Biswas
Price too high, quantity and quality is not up to the mark according to the price. They do not serve half plate rice instead if a person need some extra rice, den he has to Order a full plate of rice n waste the rest because he only needed one or two spoons of extra rice. Food was not at all tasted like bengali food. It felt like it's just lots of masala no salt nothing. Complete waste of money. Won't recommend anyone.
Aadrita Mukherjee
ambience is good but when it comes to hospitality they score a big zero.....this is the worst branch of kasturi I believe.....and the owner must get the waiters trained in hospitality....menu is over priced and the food has no authentic Bengali flavour...
Upasha Sengupta
This is one place where customers are being refused drinking water. Outright being told you have to buy bottled mineral water Kinley etc.<br/>Strange. Isn't there dictat where drinking water is supposed to be made available to customers free of cost...??<br/>Aquaguard water was made available to us only when we insisted and emphasized on the mandate..<br/>We had to fight our way to basic drinking water.. else dont know for how many years they have been selling bottles bypassing this basic rule<br/>
Saikat
My rating is only based on the prices they are charging for the items. I mean Rs. 400 for 1 pcs Hilsha is just too much to digest. They should have think about the prices on their menu card. I would never visit this place.
Amitabh Kr. Deka
I went here 3 times. Every time I tasted different dishes. Food is costly here but very delicious. They are served very well. You can get the best taste of bengali food 🍲 here. Must visit this place.
Soumyajit Laha
Kochu pata chingri and bhetki bhapa should be the dish to one must try. Nice ambience. Good food and service. Have managed to maintain equal standard across its branches.
Sujata Dey
Visited the place with family. Opted for kochur saak chingri bhapa, pabda jhol and ilish sorshe. As claimed the kochur saak was really tasty and so as the pabda jhol. But ilish was a great disappointment. It was neither fresh nor tasty. Ordered for aam satta khejur chutney that also was not up to the mark. In desert nolen gurer ice cream was good. <br/>Staff need to be polite. They are harsh with customers. Will think twice before visiting this place again.
Arishma Medhi
Best place in guwahati to have dhakai bengali food. The taste is as same as their outlets in kolkata. Though the serving style is a little different. In kolkata they dont have menu cards instead they bring the food in tray and u can choose anything which tempts you. Here they have names in menu card. I would suggest everyone who visits here to taste *kochu chingri* and *bhetki paturi* with yellow pulao. These are my all time fav dishes from this place and i am sure every1 else will love it.
Diptarshi Dev
Well a nice place to visit for authentic Bengali cuisine. Went there for a family celebration and found out that most of the recommended dishes like Kochu pata chingri and bhetki bhappa were quite remarkable, but some other dishes like prawn malai curry and dhakai bhuna chicken failed to impress and were way off the mark. So overall I recommend the place if u are an avid fan of Bengali fish dishes. A special mention to the nolen gurer ice-cream, that was quite a treat.
Das Purkayastha Bedarshi
MUST VISIT ONCE VERY MUCH AWSM PLACE FOR BENGALI FOODS SPECIALLY. AND MUST VISIT ONCE WITH FAMILY FRIENDS <br/>Special desert item is Nalen gurer ice cream 😊

If you love Bengali food, you should visit this place at Guwahati at least once. Simple ambience, good menu. Some real innovative dishes. One should try the 'kochu pata chingri'. Taste quality is good, service is also Al right. Overall a nice relaxing place for a Bengali lunch or dinner.
Nilakshi R Sarma
Taste wise too good! Service is good, the quantity can be better as compared to the pricing.<br/>Best Bengali cuisine I have tasted so far in Guwahati. A must try. <br/>PS Bhaper ilish is simply awesome.

Very nice Bengali restro with excellent family ambience. Food is very affordable and of high quality. A must for good food lovers. Do try the "mishti doi" (sweet yogurt) as dessert, better than the ice cream
Anindita Das
Nice food nice location and interiors and envirenmeny.price is affordablethough quantity is bit less.. But worth it..food os delicious.. . .
Soumyabrata Ratna Chakraborty
For a brand like Kasturi, quality should be the 1st criteria and it should not depend upon quantity. Been to this place numerous occasions, wanted to taste the lovely dhakai cuisine once again. So visited today on the occasion of bengali new year and to my surprise, the food is actually horrendous. Mutton is stiff like rock, dal is more liquidy than water and sutki was not washed properly. It's not their original taste, due to huge rush surprisingly their quality has fallen....which is very weird.....If they want to stay true to their brand name, they have to stop such bad practice.
Kukil Sarmah
Service is poor. Rest is good. Food is average. But the food quantity is low. And also lack of items in Dessert portion. Never expected that in such a big restaurant! 😂😂

Because when you are born bong, you just cannot escape the delicious offerings even if it served in home everyday... Saturday afternoon at Kasturi to try the Dhakai food. Trust me or not, it was gastronomical delight. The menu looks quite good with variations in fish and chicken dishes. But, since, I turned off my experimental mode, I decided to order simple food, because hey, I was hungry. Sonar moong dal with peas (yellow dal with peas)and jhuri aloo(potato crispy fry) bhaja to begin with. There it was, nothing less than just mouth watering. Next up, paneer rosha (cottage cheese in gravy) the taste was good, though I felt the size of paneer was too small. Since I'm on vacation, I ditched my saturday and ordered Dhone murgi (Coriander chicken). Now, this was certainly going to be my favourite here, I'm definitely going to order it again next time. Fish was tried by Mom so no comment on that. The only thing told by her was that it was undercooked, seasoning was not proper. I ended up the course with kheer doi (sweetened curd) and gulab jamun. For few seconds, I was hypnotised by the curd. It was amazing. Okay, that was the food part. Dig in and try the bengali cuisine here.... its worth trying and yeah will not make a hole in your pocket for like 101% sure. The ambience was good.... its spacious and I like the view from where I sat. You get a glimpse of the city. The service is definitely gets a thumbs up but the only thing that made me sad was music. It was horrible with Falguni phatak's songs, replace with nice Hindi old songs or say Rabindra sangeet for that matter. Kasturi gets 3.5 from my side, it could have been a 4 if and only if Falguni had not ruined it! Book your Sunday table here and relish the bong fiesta.

Went there for lunch with my cousins today and I really loved the food. Having stayed in Kolkata for 3 years, I know how Bengali food tastes like, and I didn't have much expectation here in Guwahati, but to my surprise, the food here bought back old memories. I ordered the medium Thali and the mutton Kassa was really good. It was as authentic as it can get, same goes for the fish, also for dessert I had Nolen Gurer ice cream which was also very good. I don't have anything to complain about regarding food and the service but I experienced frequent power cuts which was a bit of a bummer, hence I'm giving it 4.5

It was such a delight to visit this place for the first time with my family... Location is perfect for a family restaurant with a calm interior amidst busy exteriors... Parking is in the basement. The interior designing is very bright and sparkling... Ambience is perfect... <br/>We ordered STEAMED RICE, DHAKAI DAL FRY, MUTTON DO PYAZA, CHICKEN DAAK BUNGLOW, CHICKEN SHEEL-E-BATA, HILSHA BHAPA, PRAWN CURRY and GULAB JAMUN...<br/>Each and every dish was cooked to near perfection which left our taste buds wanting for more... Such was the delight that we even fixed our next visit to this place... A big YES for those who are still waiting to be served by this restaurant!!!

Very nice place for bengali cuisine. Recommended try the fish items, their super delicious dal. Avoid the chicken dishes, not needed really coz the fish and also dal will be a wholesome and satisfactory meal

Food is excellent. Mutton and fish dishes are just too awesome. It will make one fall in love with bengali food. A good family restaurant. Service is excellent. Prices are in budget. Good ambience.

nice restaurant serving bengali cuisine ... a bit on the higher side .. the ambiance is good and its nice to go out with family or friends .. the service is okay okay one can try various type of fishes in bengali style ... nice for lunch/dinner.

This might well be the perfect place to enjoy a sumptuous Bengali Meal. We Ordered Rice, Mutton Kosha, Ilish maacher matha diye Kochu (Taro cooked with Hiksa Head), Rohu Kalia and Jhuri Aloo Bhaja. All the Dishes were lip smacking tasty. However, the Price is a bit on the higher side. Visit if you want to devour some authentic Bengali Cuisine.

Extremely delicious food..it was first time when I got the aroma and flavour of Bengali dishes especially kochu pata chingri vapa and vetki paturi were mouth watering. Moreover the ambience was good and the staff were cordial.

Nice ambience. Good seating arrangements.<br/>They do not serve you until it's 7PM.<br/>This was my first Bengali food. Only the non veg part of the Bengali saved me. I did not even finish the chutney and dhal which they served. Slightly over priced!
Alif Ahmed
First of all it is situated in a place which has quite a few other restaurants serving Bengali Cuisine. But after trying their food it should be safe to say that they outshine the others. The ambience is great. The restaurant itself is very spacious and accommodating. Service was also good. Coming to the food, we tried their signature Kochu Pata Chingri bhapa, chitol muthia and a chicken dish with a dal fry , papad and rice. It has to be mentioned that each dish was scrumptious and wonderfully cooked. The Chingri Bhapa is a must try. Overall a great place to spend time with family or friends. Their food will definitely make you crave for more.

Being a Bengali i love this restaurant. It has good food with good ambiance and its a nice place to go out with family lunch dinner . Its a must try for bengali food lovers.

The steam fish Vetki was absolutely pathetic. Never had such stale food ever. The quality of food is going down on every visit. Please back up and revive the quality that it stands for.

After visiting various puja mandap in Guwahati...now time comes for kill my hunger...and nothing came to my other than to have some real Bengali food in this festive season. And yes I have chosen the right one. The Kaustari is serving some real good food from Dhakaia Kitchen. My parents are very choosy when it comes to have food in restaurant. But as they start tasting the food their satisfaction was reflecting in their eyes. A good ambience with great food is the best one can asked for. Kosu singri- their signature dish is just awesome. The menu has been reduced to lesser articles due to puja rush, though they keep the best one. The best place in Guwahati to have Bengali foods.<br/>

Tucked away nicely in the hip GS Road, this place offers bengali delicacies straight from the Dhakai kitchen of Bangladesh. You cannot miss the aroma and taste of the small fish assortment that is prepared with great skills. They also have a spread of almost all the river fish delicacies, and will be spoilt with choice. We were a large group, and can definitely recommend Hilsa, Chitol and Aar. Whether you are a resident or a tourist, make sure you check this off your bucket list.

A good option if you are looking forward to try Bengali and Bangladeshi cuisine. Nice sitting arrangements, which makes it easy for whole family to sit and enjoy the food together.

Kasturi located at Ulubari is a fine dinning restaurant which serves you Bengali cuisines. <br/>Assam, guwahati did not have much Bengali restaurant but now it has come up with many options. Bengali food delights are really yummy and they tastes superb. It's a perfect blend of flavours, tradition and presentation.<br/><br/>Kasturi Restaurant Ambience is perfect for a family dinner. Staff is really helpful. They are skilled professionals, very gentle and polite.<br/><br/>Price is little higher in comparison to the place . It can be tried once for a great to have food.<br/>What to order ? I was there and they recommended me to try the thali which will have everything as a whole and trust me it was fantastic . <br/>Had the maharaji premium thali which was for Rs 1000 with taxes I guess but it's superb as it had so much .. Prawn malai curry and the mutton was made splendid .<br/>Gulam jamun were soft and just melted in the mouth.<br/><br/>Overall a perfect place 👍

Kasturi brings in the taste of Dhakia cuisine's. I have been to Kasturi once and i really do savor that experience. The interiors seemed quite pleasing to me with sufficient space & sitting arrangements. The service quality is good & reflects their image as a well managed Food & Beverage Outlet. The primary component which is obviously the food seemed delicious to me. Kochu Pata Chingra Bhapa is must try. Good work fellas. Cheers 🍻

Went there just for the sole purpose of taste. The environment i found to be good. And the food, including their prawn signature dish was good to my taste. However i didn't feel the service to be good at all, and i personally feel that there is a shortage of staff to attend the tables. The waiting time went way beyond 45mins. And for a restaurant like that, the basic things like lemon, chillies, onion rings and salad should be given by default. But there was none other than the items ordered. An ok ok experience.

Though the restaurant claims to serve Bengali Cuisines but there is nothing special about the food served here. Menu is overpriced according to the quantity they serve

After going through many good reviews for this restaurant, finally I happen to visit this Dhakai restaurant. First of all, the location is really good and best part is parking isn't a issue. Its a really big deal in the Lachit Nagar area, where parking is a havoc. The restaurant is very spacious and you can choose to sit towards the right side  with the beautiful of the ever busy G.S road. Staffs are courteous and helpful. Interiors are pretty neat. Food is awesome. I guess its better than Sollo Ana Bengali. But price is a little issue here, I mean the non veg items, specially the fish. I wonder why my fellow Zomatoninans are calling it reasonable. Yes! veg part is cheap but we don't go there for the veggies, right?? Ordered plain rice, dal, brinjal fry, Ilish bhapa. They also complimented us with their signature dish "koshu pata singri bhapa" which was lip smacking. I was really satisfied with their food. Ended my ordeal with my all time favourite chutney. Though I found it to be little expensive but I was really satisfied. I am definitely game for more, may be will take my parents next time.<br/><br/>Food for thought: All's well that ends well :)

A lot of improvement have been made since my first visit during its inauguration. Kochu patta chingri is a must have. Not to expensive with the quality of food served. Malai chingri is also a must have. Jhuri alu bhaja and fried papad along with mishti doi is a must have. Quality of rice is good and dont forget to try out the bhetki paturi. Refreshing as it can get. Ambience is good. Car parking is available and the lift is a see through lift an experience in itself

good choice for lunch....definitely try 'kochupatay chingri'...muger dal is pretty good too. posto bora was rather disappointing. They use mustard powder, not the original paste as far as I could tell.

At the outset was very disappointed to find that Dhakai Murg pulao is unavailable. No Bangladeshi meal is complete without that. The kochupata chingri bhapa was average with the spice punch missing. We had also ordered Chicken sheele bata which was the only saving grace and we ended up ordering one more plate. The chicken bhuna too was passable. However the worse thing about kasturi was the lethargic waiters who took atleast 15 mins just to get us finger bowls. They seemed generally disinterested in serving and answering any queries which was a major turn off.

Food was damn good! 90% replica of the Kolkata joint. Good place. Needs proper advertising I guess. My all time favorite is Basanti Pulaw. Found it same here.

Its a 2 from my side. Reasons below<br/>1. High price<br/>2. Its not dhakai in its authentic sense. (I am also a dhakai by family values, so no one knows the authenticity better)<br/>3. The horrible hot gulab jamun... they are just giving store bought gulab jamun by just microwaving it.<br/>4. I found 100 s of fish bones in "chitol muthia"<br/>5. Mini thali costs 380, and maxi thali 550 but the difference between the menu is only 1 item.<br/>6. They do not have any local fish.<br/>7. Same with chicken.<br/>8. I paid 1060 for two people and the meal was not at all up to the level of any other bengali restaurent.<br/>9. They are offering thali but they charges for extra rice.

Being from a Bengali family, I think I can safely say this place serves quite close-to-homemade food. The ambiance is good and the waiters are supportive. The dishes are priced quite reasonably and I liked the variations of food. Kochu chingri bhapa is highly recommended, and also Bhetki Bhapa. They serve good Indian food as well. Recommended : Lacchaa Paratha and Hariyali Chicken. A nice place to go to, even if are not loaded much. :D

No place in Guwahati serves this kinda yummy bengali cuisine. I was awestruck with the variety they had on there menu, and more awestruck cause they didn't provide excuses of not having prepared one or two dishes due to unavailability or any other reason.<br/>Coming to the food, it was heaven. . I ordered a thali, which had everything from dal to desserts and God I never felt so full. The dishes were prepared with care and every dish was perfect just like the way our mothers or grandmothers would have cooked.<br/>The ambience is good but the food and the service steals away the show. Definitely suggest it to the foodies out there, specially the bongs who miss the quintessential bong delicacies. 😃

A bit over-hyped restaurant you can say with the food being pretty ordinary and homely. Chicken dak bunglow stands out though for its elegant taste and look.. Had paneer rosha, a so so type of dish.

Not so special.... not so bangaliana....ambience is good....the interior decoration is good but the food is not so special....really enjoyed chicken dak bungalow. Other than that the dishes were not so good.Aradhana Banerjee Subhadipto Poddar
