Review 16 Anna Bengali - Guwahati

Sumanta Roy
Tried a few items.....its quite good but mutton was not up to the mark. Needs to be properly maintained reconstruction or renovation is recommended. Service level is quite good. Overall good experience.
prathana borah
My all time fav is their matar paneer, 💝 Bt other items that u can try out n wont be disappointed are kasha chicken, veg pulao, ilish, posto, pabda and also their non veg thali😊
doctorfrom hogwarts
Cheap and good Bengali food. Lau chingri was too good and also aloo posto which we had ordered. Also mishti doi.
JYOTI SAIKIA
Excellent food, warm and delicious. I found the rate also very reasonable. However, the Wash room needs improvement, as of now it does not befit the restaurant’s standard. The entrance has footmats which give a dull appearance- need a change.I recommend the restaurant to everyone who loves Bengali cuisine
Shirsha Ghosh
Food is good. But they took very long time to serve.
Kunal Singh
Osm food... staff behavior is good... go for it🙏

Good food. Hot and spicy Bengali food with good waiter service. Takes some time to get your order but when its come its always nice. One can ask for low spicy food also as waiters and cooks know the job.
Sourav Chattopadhyay
One of the best restaurant in Guwahati serving Bengali dishes. The basic veg thali contains rice, dal, shukto, chatni and another sabji depending on availability (alu posto, mocha etc.) Apart from these one can take dishes like echor, lau chingri etc. They have quite varieties of fishes available in their menu e.g. vetki, pabda, iilish, chingri etc. Chicken and mutton items are also available. The ambience of the place is pretty good. The price of the items are acceptable. Overall it was a good experience.
mainak roy
Grt food with pure bangoli cusine. Must go place for fooding.

Whenever I had visit brand factory Guwahati I have my lunch from here only. It is well known for authentic bengali cuisine. Sometimes it is a bit difficult for a person to find this place because it is located on 2nd floor i guess and pathway to this place is not very convenient. From inside this place has ample space. All the items mentioned in menu is not available, I had ordered chola dal which i didn't get so I have to go for moong dal. But you will get most out of the menu. Their serving size is good , i was not able to finish single plate of paneer matar.
Tapan Dhar
I ordered BHATKI BHAPA & WHAT I RECEIVED WAS FRIED BHATKI DIPPED IN SARSO IN A PLASTIC CONTAINER BUT USUALLY BHAPA FISH IS COVERED WITH BANANA LEAF WITH FULLY STEAM ,WHICH IS NOT SEEN HERE.. WHAT A PATHETIC.. THE COST IS HEAVEN HIGH WITH LOW QUALITY TASTE. I WAS ADVISED MANY TIMES BY MY CLOSE FRIENDS NOT TO VISIT THERE & INDEED ITS TRUE ......

If you are Bengali or you really love Bengali cuisine should definitely visit this place. Exquisite Bengali dishes which includes variety of fish and chicken dishes. You can have a perfect meal for lunch or dinner and happily ending it with mishti doi. I would highly recommend you to visit the place for amazing homely food. Happy eating! :)

This place is everything that a pathetic restaurant can be. Few times I had ordered for home delivery from this restaurant, and I never found the food taste to satisfy my taste buds. However, my pathetic experience was purely out of the hygiene aspect of this joint. I had visited this restaurant once to pick up my parcel, and to my astonishment, I found rodents all over the restaurant. I will never ever recommend this joint to anyone

Fish should be fresh then the taste is enhanced many fold. Veg items r awesome. Recently I ordered for chetol fish kalia but i got disappointed , the size was good but the natural oiliness of the fish was missing.
For a Restaurant Boasting the name of the cuisine of the country's food capital is nothing but a disappointment in entirety. With boring average food which can be obtained at any corner of the city with thrice the amount is merely a metaphor for its dull gloomy interiors and broken doors. With the waiters trying desperately to push in half cooked mutton considering the fact that 2/3rds of the lunch menu isn't available. I won't be visiting it again even if its the last one remaining after a nuclear war. Solely disappointed (especially when you have eaten at its Kol branch).

Must visit food place especially for Bengali Cusine . Service is also decent the food is also great . Dont forget to taste the deserts . We especially recommend it.
Immon Ghosh
Tasty food. Good ambience. The way of serving is also good. Overall good experience. Non veg thali is just too good. One must visit 16 Anna Bengali Restaurant to taste the various Bengali cuisines.
Sandip Mukherjee
Awesome food. Huge variety. Nice taste. Authentic bengali food. Not that pocket friendly but nice place for family gathering. No alcohol. Almost all Bengali items r available there

Had gone for lunch alongwith my wife hoping to treat her to a wonderful Bengali meal. So we opted for the buffet on suggestions from the serving staff. I have been to the mother outlets in Kolkata, and compared to them, this outlet is a pale shadow. The items were very basic and lacked authentic taste, not the spread you expect from a buffet. Icchapuron restaurant at Ganeshguri serves much better fare and value by way of their thalis. Spending ₹600 per person on a buffet lunch at this outlet is a mere waste of money. Disappointed.
Priyanka Bhattacharjee
I had recently visited this restaurant during Durga Puja, and had visited the place during last year Durga Puja as well, and I have loved the food, both the times. We had ordered special Durga Puja Thali, and it had a variety of items. It started with rice, Basanti Pulao, Shukto, Daal, Alu bhaja, Potol chingri, Ilish mach ( There were other options ~ Pabda mach, bhetki mach ), Kosha Mangsho (mutton), Chatni and mishti at the end. All the items were really delicious, especially the ilish mach. The manager was really polite and all in all, it was a really good meal :)
Ayesha Ahmed
Firstly apologies that I could not manage a picture for this post. But I had reasons.. the platter wasn't worth the click from my phone nor was the ambience. We ordered for the durga puja special thali which had nothing special on it. I have had better bengali food at other outlets. This place for me was a sheer disappointment. It being a franchise of the mother restaurant in Kolkata, it is nowhere close to it. The worst part being its washroom and wash basins. It was so unhygienic. If the admin is looking at my post, please try and keep up the good name of your mother franchise. Bengali cuisine lovers like me expect a lot from you.

Had Prawn Malai-curry and Sarso Illish along with Kosha Mutton, Sukto, Dal, Lau Tarkari, Rice, Mishti Dahi and Mishti Paan.
Food was awesome and service was also better.
I was bit skeptical by reading earlier reviews before going but found place, food and price much reasonable.
A must visit for all Bong food lovers.
Aamen Talukdar
Hankering for some homestyle grub my parents and I stumbled into this place, hungry and impatient. What we got was delicious food that warmed the cockles of our heart. The decor was very non consequential but comfortable, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We had ilish borishali, chitol peti, rice, potol posto, moong dal and the best begunis of my life. Ah those brown fluffy parcels of beguni will stay in my heart forever. The fish steaks were huge and perfectly cooked, and brought the taste of home cooked food to our tongues. Any praise for this place is well deserved.
Sangbeed Kundu
Went with family. The interior was so-so and not that well maintained although I'm sure it must have looked really pretty when new. Clean cutlery, and prompt service are pluses! Ordered mutton curry which was tasty but the curry was a bit runny. Rice and mixed veg had good proportions. Overall decent experience but nothing extraordinary!
Er. Joti Mohar Das
Terrible food. They should improve their food quality. I feel it's overpriced in that given quantity. The service is pathetic. Next time will not visit again.

There is a Proverb in Bengali that " Bangali jekhanei jai macher gondho pai"!!!! :) :P I went to 16 Anna Bengali with my two friends. # Aritraa and # Bandhan. We enjoyed a lot after a long time after our Btech days in Haldia. We order Chingi Sorshe, Pabda, ilish, Sukhto, macher matha diye dal, sakh, papor, chatni and so many!!! I went there in Feb 2018!!!! It's a very pocket-friendly place with the Bengali flavour!!! The staffs are very well behaved and friendly!!! Friends please to in 16 Anna Bengali in Guwahati to enjoy the Bengali cuisine!!!
PAPIYA BHATTACHARJEE
I love the mutton dishes ..i have been there 2 times....and the best one i found there was pabda jhal and mutton dak bungalow....price is not that much... quite affordable for students
Himadri Das
Amazing food with so many recipes of Bengal.Just in love with Bengali Cuisine but the ambience is not that much proper but the food is like WOW😁

“16 Anna Bengali” a isolated restaurant in a building of PC jewellers, claims to be perfect place for Bangali food lovers. However, my several visits found this place always be abandoned. The entire restaurant is divided in two section, although one section was always be equipped with staffs. Staffs were never be more concerned with hospitality than there TV shows. Service used to be below two star, on the contrary food is better but not exceptional. There staffs were to punctual for closing and do not bother to lock the restaurant main door and asked us to leave the place from the back, which I never saw, while eating in thousands of restaurants. I recommend this place to those who just want to feed themselves without other expectations.
Amrita Pathak
I am an assamese and tried their bengali food for the first time. and i loved it. the fish was veryyyyy tasty and the service was gud too. recommended for all friends and readers. p.s. try the ilish and dhania murg.
Wheels N Spoons
"16 Anna Bengali" there is a saying in Bengali, to refer when you are a pure soul of bangali. They got a pocket friendly menu and you can find all authentic Bengali dishes. I had illish item, it's good according to the price.
Ghan Doley
Worst bengali food in the town, in the name of jumbo ilish , they serve the normal size, test of the foods are also disgusting, i say even Maa kali restaurant is 1000 times better than this
Kangkan Talukdar
Went there for a family lunch and the place disappointed me. We went there for a authentic bengali experience but the food failed to justify the name of the restaurant. The food was average tasting and portions were really small. The biggest disappointment was the prawn it didn't taste good and was served with just a little bit of curry. Avoid the prawn items for they are overpriced. The hospitality was great though, they attended to all your needs. Service is a bit slow so don't go there if your in a hurry.
One last thing there are no stairs to reach the restaurant and you have to use the lift which only has a capacity of 4 people. This becomes a problem when your in a rush (i missed my cab because of this).
Would i recommend it not really the place will just disappoint you. There are better places to choose from.
Nabajyoti Deka
The fish was not at all fresh. It smelt bad...the chicken was sort of ok.. Then the items on menu r rarely available. Quatity is less...wont like to go there again..
Asif Naqvi
The name speaks itself. Bengali in true sense. Foods taste awesome and the authenticity of bengali flavour can be found. Prices are considerably lower. Ambiance is good. Anyone keen to visit a bengali restaurant, its a better choice.
Between : if anyone is thinking that 'O Maa Go' is a bengali eatery than believe me, their clothing is just bengali but their food is as nasty as rotten eggs. A big scar in the name of bengali food.
Someswar Roy
Extremely unhygienic! Poor service. Worn out infrastructures. Food is normal.
Even the stairs to the restaurant was a mess. They dont even serve proper handwash or even a soap.
Sunidhi Bhattacharjee
Being a bengali, this place was always on my list to visit. So we did this Sunday as my parents were in town.i must say it serves one of the best bengali cuisines in Ghy.Food was totally mouth-watering.ambience is ok.staff is also good.Delighted to visit this.
Bidyut Bikash Das
Went today with my friend for dinner. It is located near Brand Factory, Lachit Nagar (Opp side of KFC).

We had Veg thali, Aari Kalia and Bhetki Bhapa

• Bhetki Bhapa was awesome.
• The thali was average.
• Aari Kalia was average.

• The rice in the thali seemed like it was cooked in the afternoon. I am being frank. Hope this was a one timer from them.
• The entrance is not that attractive and a little dirty also. It can be hugely inproved.
• Price is OK.

Still I want to come back again to taste the other items and hoping for a better quality and service, it is average now.
Kundan Roy
If u like bengali food.this is one of the places you can come.the place and its atmosphere is good, ambience is ok.service is also gd.i liked the prawn,dal,puri..but the mutton was not that good.overall the food quality is good and prices are ok!
RockBazz Santu
It was fabulous experience.food was excellent.service is good
It's typically Bengali food

Only one think you should keep proper cover set up on the table.

Other wise everything was pafect
Subam Ganguly
They have different menu according to their availability.very limited recipies are available. But no compromise with taste all are upto the mark
Maddy
Bong restraunt....price doesn't match the quantity ...And also its charm is deteriorating....Tastewise its good....one can try the Bengali cuisine there.
Nicholas B Choudhury
Thali is good. Mutton and fish are typical bong. Anyone who loves Bengali cuisine needs to step in once. Ambience is average though. Finding parking can be a problem.
Debanjana Bhattacharjee
Went during one of the days of Durga Puja along with family. We ordered the non-veg package which included items like a mixed vegetable, dal, hilsa fish, chingri, mutton, chicken etc. To be honest, all the food items were cold. The interior was decent but the food could have been much much better. Being a Bengali myself, this place didn't amaze me much as the food was ordinary.
Ria Nag
We went for dinner on Nabami night..Being a Bengali I can say to every one plz avoid this place..They can't give you even 1% of original Bengali taste.. There are many options available in guwahati if you really want to taste original Bengali cuisine..
Abhay Raj
The best experience i ever had.
Cheap and delicious bengli food...

Good place to visit specially with your Bengali friend.....

Food 4.5 stars
Cleanliness 5 stars
Price 5 stars
Anindita Deb
We went to this place on my parents' anniversary. I had heard about this place a lot. Being a bengali myself,I had high hopes from this place. Everything about the food was wrong. The fish was raw and smelt awful. The taste was too bad. The service was very very slow. I was disappointed. It's overpriced and it is not worth the money charged. I do not recommend this place to anyone.
Rupam Banerjee
The outlet on G S Road serves good Bengali food. Veg offerings were good. However range is limited in non-veg and even items printed on menu are not always available. The service has a lot of scope of Improvement. With better service and availability of my choice of items printed on menu the overall experience would have been better.
Papia Saha
Food quality is good . ambience is average. but price is almost double in hotel menu card from which price showing here. But one thing I can say in guwahati if you want bengali food it's good place .
Navoday Das
Being an eggetarian, this place isn't really one that offers people like us much in terms of variety... Still, the place is at a good location, and I would say it is very pocket friendly and neither is the taste bad.. So it's not a bad place if you are looking for Bengali food at a budget....
Parineeta Dutta
Firstly they dont have a parking area...service is tooooooo slow...waiters are very rude..food is not up to mark as compared to their counterparts👎👎
Prahelika Dutta
Well ! Not much about it, although it serves quiet good food but the ambience and service is never to be again place. But for a quick pick of food, you can opt for
Rahul Deb
Food is not that good, price are a bit high compare to some of the good restaurents of kolkata and most imp they dont have half the dishes mentioned in the menu .
Hoimawati Talukdar
Great place to have authentic Bengali cuisine. Simply loved their Illish fish, their special Thai, nolen gurer ice cream, aaloo posto. Yummy food, nice ambience. Would love to visit again. Foodies go for it. Little expensive but is worth it. 5 stars.
Tania Ghatak Thakur
Great food taste. Specially the fish items are fantastic. Price is moderate. Ambience was also good. Staffs are cooperative. Overall loved the place.
Twin Yolk
I have been to this restaurant a couple of times, and so far i am impressed. The food really speaks of authentic bengali flavor. One of the best things is their menu, the portions are designed in such a way that two people can easily eat off two entres along with a generous quantity of rice and the cost is minimal. The inside of the restaurant is clean and roomy, but the elevator is quite dirty and covered in panmasala spit. Service is propmt, waiters are well behaved, but the people in the front desk should learn some manner. All in all, worth a try.
Samrat Das Choudhury
Had dinner there, awesome fish cuisines, ignore the chicken cuisines, My ratings out of 10

Taste (fish cuisines ) : 8
Ambience : 7
Value for money : 8
service : 8
Sayantika Dey
Being a bengali, Bengali food is always favorite to me, so if u are searching for Bengali food in guwahati then this is definitely one of the best place to satisfy ur taste buds...the interior and service is not so satisfied but the food is really tasty especially the sukto, aloo bhaji, evry dishes of chingri and lastly the Misti doi😍...
Nayanjyöti Sarma
They serve cold food (for two times !). So there goes your appetite. Even though the food is good I ended up disliking the place. Probably will never go again.
Sourav Dev

Juin Saha
The menu card doesn't show the price that's uploaded here. Every item costed minimum 20rs extra. The ambience was good..loved the veg items over the non veg one... Specially dal aloo bhaja sukto....good luck:)
Saptarshi Chowdhury
Just fr lunch on a late sunday. Service was ok. Ambience needs improvement.. Food was awesome.. try the chatni and doi.. and dont miss the elish and sloo bhaji
Hemlata Hajong
Average looking place with normal taste of food. The cost of food is a little high for the service and the food that they provide. The waiters are not well informed about the food items
Arijit Sen
Been there one afternoon during my trip to guwahati.its amazing that u get lip smacking Bengali delicacy at sooo pocket friendly prices.for chicken aficionado chicken dakbanglow is must I say.little bit dejected that ampora sorbot was off the menu.c'm on its a must have for any restaurant specialising in Bengali cuisine
Ambience and service was OK.overall i w' d give it a thumbs up and recommend for foodies searching for Bengali cuisine
Jeff ( ZaFaR) Navas
Authentic bengali food... Nice place with OK OK service.. Food was good.. Tried the veg thali today.. Nice for lunch dinner here.. Prices are pocket friendly... Must try...
Biswaroop Dasgupta
Pathetic experience!!! I did a takeaway from this place and was served stale food. When I called them up and complained they refused to replace the food stating that I should have checked while I was taking the food from them. Never going back to this place again. Would recommend you to stay away from this restaurant.
Sushmita Kar

Foodieforeverandever23/Kabyashree
16 Anna Bengali as the name goes is a Bengali restaurant serving deliciously yummy , Bengali cuisines with authentic real taste of Bengal .
The Ambience here is an average one, but the staff is good.
Service is also average.
The taste and the flavours of pure Bengali food is here. I was there with mine mom last Friday and we both had enjoyed delightful meals.
We had placed an order for chingri cutlets which was delicious, the peas pulao and mutton korma was yummy again, Luci , the misti doi lastly was fantastic ....
Overall it's a perfect destination for Bengali delightful meals....
A_foodie_soul13
A must visit if you are a big fan of Bengali food. I opted for the thali and it didn't disappoint me. The yellow rice was amazing. The ambience was really good. The sweet dish was yummy. I personally loved the yellow rice. A must visit place at guwahati.

Ambience needs to be improved. Good food and service. Mutton Kocha must taste once. Ilish bhapa taste is average. Singri dish waste of money. Misti Doi very delicious.
Arunima Paul
Today i visited this place with few of my collegues. But totally disappointed. First of all we went there at 12.30 p.m. But till that time they were unable to arrange the whole restau. And the items given in the menu card were not available. Lastly we ordered for chicken pakora. Dat was d ultimate surprise full of disappointment. It was named as chick.pakoda but it was only flat shaped tikias full of gram flour n onion. Horrible taste. The restaurant seems to b an isolated place. Only a few people used to visit there. It was our first n ll b d last visit.
Sumon Chatterjee
A piece of Bengal outside Bengal.budget one and authentic. Sitting is crowdy but that's justified considering the utmost popularity and uniqueness. A must visit place if u r in guwahati and craving for bong dishes.
Sumitava Talukdar (Sunny)
Went there for lunch...once...with friends... ambience very simple and okayish... food good...service good....overall...a very simple but good restaurant in the area
Pranamee Nath
I have been to this place twice and am thinking of the next occasion to drag my folks again to this place, I really loved it. The ambience is pleasant, no unnecessary ornamentation, service is the best, they are always at your service, gives extra servings if asked for, as many times, and are very courteous. The food is good, I loved 'mutton dakbanglow' and 'dab chingri', the most. And ya, khejur aamsatta chutney is very delicious. Do try it for sure.
Sailee Roy
I went there with my family and relatives for my parents marriage anniversary. The sitting space was quite good but the ambience and decoration was so so.The food was top notch and was authentic Bengali food.Everyone loved the food and the price was very reasonable. The preparation time was short too as well as the waiter was friendly. They even provided complimentary paan after the meal. The place was nice and clean. The only drawback that I could notice was that it didn't have flashy appearance and adorned exteriors and interiors but that didn't bother me much.
Arijit Bhattacharjee
Quite justifies the name. They just understood the culinary instincts of bengalis. A good to great variety of choices. Isnt that spacious and could work upon on the ambiance a more to reflect and go hand in hand with the spirit of the food. Gives you a tantalizing pinch on your taste buds. Keep up the good work guys !!
Murchana
A must visit if you are an authentic bengali food lover....everything was scrumptious and you'll pay for what you'll be eating...a tummy full of delicious food....The place is bit small.....otherwise I had no issues ....Price is apt and service is good
Sourav Chanda
It's been a pleasure to visit the place in Guwahati, Assam. Being a bengali bhojohori manna is my all time favourite for bengali cuisine but yes I must say that Sholo ana bengali is a must visit place to taste some good food. The ambience is superb and almost feels like I am in my hometown Kolkata.
D. Mukherjee
great food.. that's a bangalee vouching for it. service is prompt. loved their mutton dakbunglow, daab chingri, and enchor chingri. the restaurant is very basic, but the taste and the quality of the food more than makes up for it. prices are very much agreeable.
Jaydev Sarkar
Entered this restaurant with the expectation of getting authentic bengali food. I must say it didn't disappoint me. Except for the chutney.
The fishes were cooked well, in bengali style and my favorite dishes were almost all there.
The ambience is really good, and the desserts were one of the best I have had in Guwahati.
Service was really good too.
Arka Choudhuri
A treat for bengali to have the taste in Assam. Excusite and the hilsha was delicious. Simple narkel mixed mug daal was yummy.

A long tiring day can be converted into sweet dreamy night with the taste which grasps your taste buds here.
Fat_ninza_alvina
An authentic bengali restaurant. The hilsa is a must try. I opted for the thali n it was full paisa wasool meal. I wouldnt mind calling it one of the best bengali restaurants in the city. Go for it.. you wont regret!
De Specialist
Hi guys.. M back after a long gap I guess. Well I hv always been fascinated by the bong cuisine. So me n my boss happen to visit this place for lunch. The interiors ain't much. Its so so. Response was ok type. Nw the food. We ordered Elsish maach.. Koshto or Posto (sorry I didn't get d name) and ya patturi... It was really good. I hate fish .. N wen i say I loved it... U can well imagine hw gud it has to be. Our lunch ended with a high sugar chutney ( aam sotto Aar khajurer chuttney) I loved it. M goin for more 😊😋
Yazir Hussain
OK kind of food and service..lachit Nagar area is lack of good restaurants hence visited once out of compulsion but food is not that up to the mark. Aloo bhaja was good
Raj Kamal
Food- tastier compared to other traditional bong joints in Ulubari - Lachit Nagar area. Must try Item- Bhapa Illish is superb and finger licking.
Serving- relatively less amount of food compared to the price. For eg- one single thin piece of ILLISH @ 275 bucks. Also a Rice bowl cannot serve the hunger of half of your tummy. Once you go there U wl feel the difference how a miser serves wisely n witty.
Ambience- up to the mark n the couches are comfortable.
Reality- no WiFi for customers although they have advertised it on Zomato. Rate for items on the menu may fluctuate from 20-30 bucks as they don't update regularly.
Saikat
Overall good...... the quantity they serve is low compared to the price..... they need to give attention to the quantity they serve.... otherwise taste is good... pure bengali dishes..... ok types....
SUMIT DAS
The best place place for Bengali food in guwahati. Be it their pulao, mutton, chicken, prawn or fish..everything is A1. The veg segment consisting of shukto, dhoka, boot er daal are sureshot winners. N if its Bengali food,it has to be about sweets! N this restaurant is a winner even in that category.. Prices are reasonable n ambience is quite pleasing. A must visit.

Checked in yet again for some pulao, prawn malai curry and mutton kosha. While the pulao was ok n the mutton good, the prawn dish turned out to be quite a disappointment.. Just 1 piece( not that huge, even) for a price of 230 with just a little curry ( as if that's a garnish) hurts u( n your pocket) . Even taste wise, there are a few other restaurants serving a better malai curry experience.. It disappointed big time..
Nipjyoti Barman
Value for money.........taste is really good......reasonable ambience......prices are really low if you go by food and ambience.......friendly staff.....A MUST VISIT
Subhadipto Poddar
Food has a bong touch, tasty and quite homely.. Lots of food items present in the menu were missing, so the rating is an average one.. Pulao was good, ghee rice so so. Fish finger was quite tasty.. Chicken kasa was nice..
Mayuri Purkayastha
The place is a total disgrace to bengali food. The meat is never cooked properly, the gravy is undercooked or lacks the essential spices. The only thing I enjoy there is daal and aloo bhaji. Will try my best to not go there again.
Prith
Veg day out..!!! Well we went veggie for a change and decided to try some Bengali delights in veg. With the sun scorching on top gear, I dint had much choice but to settle for this one as I dint want to drive far in this heat.( Also across the road.."Kasturi" was packed). Now a Bengali meal without Dal and Bhajjis is like scrap since we were already ditching on the fish. So came the Moog Dal and Begunis followed by jhora ALU bhajji. Note to self: never order that ALU fries. Not worth it. Begunis as usual were a delight. Then dipped on some Jhinga ALU Posto...well it was eatable. The next one was a good one and we ordered another serving of it..oh yeah it was something with Potol in it. Worst was the Paneer that came in last. Pale in taste. Nothing to talk about. But the best thing during the lunch happened at last. The Aam Chutney that we ordered ..man was the killer we needed to beat the summer heat. Served cold on request and tangy. Real tangy. Took away all that heat in an instant. The rating on my scale went up on that itself. All and all not a bad day I suppose since all I hear about them now a days is that they have detoriated.
Off till next time. Happy Eating!!!!
Rashmi
I used to find this place ok as they served decent food at an affordable rate and was a good option on days when i wasn't looking at spending much. I guess, this was the reason i was more tolerant towards their horrible service and etiquettes. But after a recent incident i have decided that i am not going to visit this place again. We asked this person to cancel the desert and due to some confusion in the staff they still served it. When asked to take it back, the staff started arguing and insisted that we will have to pay for it. That was it for me. I do not like places which firstly do not listen to what the customer is asking for and then come and argue. Meal here is far from peaceful....
Jeetu
Food taste ok but rest sucks. Very poor service..slow in everywhere...infact they don't even want to present the bill. Try to avoid if possible.

Pathetic service. Even worse ambiance & below average food. Not worth a second visit. Don't even bother to go for Home delivery. They are experts in making money through deliveries. They have free delivery till 3 Km radius. Even if your location is within 3 km radius , they will make sure to convince you that your place is more than 3 km from the restaurant & accordingly put a hefty delivery charge.

I have been to this restaurant with my parents during the durga puja. It was crowded as expected. We went for the thali and we were really satisfied. We tried our hands on 3 to 4 types of fishes and it tasted heaven. The fish was fresh unlike many other bengali cruisine restaurants of the city. I loved the mutton while I shall give a star less to the kosha chicken . all in all a good place to dine with family and a nice experience

I had to go to some place with Bengali khawar. So I knew just this place. I will not go into detail as it is a very regular looking restaurant with people density of visiting a little less I think. The food was good. Prices reasonable.
Dashami 2014 was my first and i promise that would b my last meal at 16 anna. Worst food i ever tasted and a complete waste of money. Complete disappointment specially at festive season

Went during the puja season. Only thali was offered which was 500 per plate and was not worth the price. Maybe cause there was crowd and it was puja but food was not as good as expected.

Worst bengali restaurant.. Found cockroach and took 1 and a half hour to complete the order..terribly horrific!!

Fantastic food!! Went for a lunch with my family and I was glad that even my kids appreciated the bengali food as they are interested in Chinese stuffs but the food completely satisfied our taste buds! A must visit restaurant for a bengali retreat..planning for another visit.

Don't go by its brand name which it has earned in Kolkata as the Guwahati outlet is a shame for the brand name. Most of the Bengali specialities that are mentioned in its menu card is missing. The Chicken & Mutton preparation tasted good. Ilish maachh was very very average. Repentance is the expression which came to me after coming out of 16 Anna Bengali Guwahati. It is more of a "Bhaater Hotel" than a specialized restaurant. The dining experience was so bad that I would not visit any outlet of 16 Anna Bengali ever.
