It's a very old place for college students to hangout to begin with. But it definitely requires improvement in some areas. They have very few people so it takes really long for them to serve you. People are little aged so they are not quick enough to attend you. The inside of the restaurant should also be decorated and well maintained. Food is average. Thank you.

A very good place for a family and friends get together or reunion! Love their biriyani, paneer kadhai and mughlai paratha! Good food at reasonable price.
Prastuti Debi
The restaurant is family friendly. It is also spacious and maintains proper hygiene. They provide quite ample amount of food which is quite reasonable according to the price.Had a good time.

Old but well maintained restaurant. Food is good. Quantity is reasonable. A good family restaurant
Udayangshu Bhagabati (Ricky)
One of the oldest restaurant established here in Guwahati. From 1981 till today this restaurant has served generations. Food quality is top notch. Butter chicken and nun, Biryani are the best combination to try here. Food delivery is fairly quick and the staff response is good. Quantity served is substantial and it will surely fulfill a hungry soul. Highly recommended

Delicious, quality food at reasonable price and quantity! 100% recommended 👍

Anwesha Chakraborty
Very old restaurant in Panbazar area. Visited so many times with friends and family. Food is tasty and price is reasonable. Quantity of food is also good. Don't have to wait long for food. Quick service..Students can afford easily. Must try.

Good restaurant for ethnic and tasty food.

One of the oldest restaurant in Guwahati. Should try fried Jira rice with chicken butter masala. I also tried American Chopsuey. The food is ok if not the best. They should renovate.

I remember coming since my childhood days. Old place in panbazar. They cn expand the interiors n cn improvise a bit. Abt the food to b honest i always hve their famous chicken mughlai paratha. I dont want n can not imagine eating something else thr. I think thats their special signature dish. Taste is the same n served with the same things 2piece of onion 2pc of cucumber n little aloo bhaji. Bt this time they hve added a green chilli mustard pickle. Chckn mughlai paratha is a mst try thr.

We ordered dal fry, aloo matar, plain rice, butter chicken gravy, hakka chowmein. Hakka Chowmein is pretty ordinary in comparison to price. There was very few pieces of chicken in it. Dal was tasty. Aloo matar was excellent in taste. In butter chicken they used color which i didn't like. There was 4 big pieces of chicken in the gravy

The place I grew up eating. Giving it 4stars for just the memories I had , even now I get food from here almost quite often. I enjoyed a lot of their items from the Chicken mughlai parantha to the Mixed chowmein *one of the most popular item* and many many more. Their food used to quite popular around the entire panbazar and nearby locatilies from a long time till date. From being a kiddo to a adult now I still enjoy their food a lot. Yeah they do mess up but hardly like once in a blue moon but overall m always satisfied.
Do try it 👍

I really love the food here but I think the ambience should be improved with proper lights and chairs. It can be on the best restaurants only if the ambience is good. Otherwise the food is simply awesome here !

Friday it was and we got a empty place. Nothing to speak of Ambience just imran khan songs playing from the speakers. Staff were helpful. Now coming to food we ordered Tandoori Roti and Chicken Tikka Masala. The pieces of chicken were smaller than other outlets and only 2-3 pieces were decent size others were quite small. Gravy however was tasting quite good and quantity was good for the price. The Rotis were hot n fluffy and properly cooked, nothing to complain. I liked their chilly mustard pickle which was complementary. Overall decent place and food.
Kalyan Panja
Its a small but cosy place with lots of youngsters and families visiting alike. During a normal daytime it is very difficult to get seats without waiting. So they take a lot more time to serve the dishes on table. The food however is extremely tasty right from the veg to non-veg dishes.

I had read great reviews of this place and this doesn't disappoint at all. Being sunday lunch the place looked full but reservation did help us.

A combination of delicious food with warm hospitality is what is the hallmark of Sunflower. The ambience of this place is so quirky and vintage at the same time.

Now coming to the food, I must say that it is really good. The food was indeed delectable and that was yum. We had ordered veg fried rice, chilli chicken, chicken shahi korma and chicken cutlet. The quality of food is excellent. Chilli chicken was so satisfying to the taste buds! The taste is fantastic and you just cannot have enough of this! Most importantly each and every dish is presented in an extremely innovative manner. Doesn't matter what you order as everything is fresh and full of flavour.

Lastly, i was forgetting this but mention of this must . Their washrooms, aaah they were super dirty !! That's basic no ? So overall I'll give 3 stars to this place.

Overall , as per me , pretty average place.

Thanks for reading and don't forget to follow :)

Yesterday me and friend went there..
We ordered 2 Chicken Cutlet..
The Cutlet was a huge one & tasty too❤
Staff are well behaved..
Small place may be but the foods are tasty...

One of the oldest place in panbazar. It is also said to be the canteen for the students of Cotton and Handique College. I love the food they serve with a balanced price on their menu. I have lot of memories spending in this restaurant.
Trishnakhi Deuri
This place is a big hit among the students. It serves a good wide range of indian and chinese items. The menu is pocket friendly. The food is also worth the money. The quantity served is quite decent.I tried butter nun, chicken do pyaza and liver fry.The chicken was rightly made with the right amount of juicyness on the inside yet properly cooked. They served a good quantity of liver fry which was fried to the right amount.Overall a good experience.

Well since i was in cotton college me n my mom have visited dis place for quite a long time but for most of the times we end up ordering a veg fried rice or veg pulao along with one chicken butter masala. Its good for the portion of food they serve. Ya true to my self once i ordered chicken biriyani which really didnt taste like one. But must say their chicken butter masala is just too good in comparisn. I evn tried their chili chicken gravy which accrding to me ws not good at all. Evn once we ordered mughlai chicken paratha n d chicken was not at all fresh. But rest of all my all tym fav chicken butter masala and veg fried rice is the best combo. Service is a bit slow 15 to 20 mins waitng aftr u order ur food is sometyms annoying wen ur too damn hungry. Ambience okk. But the quantity and portion is worth mentioning.

A very old food joint of Guwahati.
But definitely over the years it has lost it's charm.
We tried the Paneer Mughlai Paratha, Chicken Mughlai Paratha, Paneer Spring Roll & Veg Chowmein.
The Mughlai Paratha was quite good except for the usage of excessive oil. Quantity is more than enough for one. Fulfilling.
But the price of the Veg Chowmein was too high (150 bucks). Was nothing special in taste except for the quantity.
At last, it's a place of nostalgia.
Nitumoni Daimari
One of the oldest restaurants in panbazar. The foods are good.Tried max of the dishes and all are good. A must visit when you are in panbazar area.
Bhavana Barman
The food is good and pocket friendly. I hate the chairs in there, I fell from one once. Other than that, its really good. Loved the mughlai paratha there. It is awesome. Fried rice and chicken items are also worth trying.
Bhagyashree Sarma
Very bad .. I ordered chicken fried rice and chicken roll.. Roll was OK ok.. But d fried rice was awful.. I m never going back.. D waiting tym is also veryyy long.. It was a total waste

One of the oldest and famous restraunt...It was and lso still it is famous in the college students....As the colleges are nearby students used to celebrate here itself but because of opening of so many restaurants, Its getting a tough competition.... fried rice chilli chicken, butter chicken, chowmein, spring roll, cutlet are some of the famous item of here..

Someone truly said No one can remain in the top forever and eventually they will sink
.
These situations are exactly with Sunflower
.
Once the pride of Panbazar is now struggling to get into the competition
.
Mind it I was borned and stayed here from the year 1992 to till date 2017 and will stay till 2019 since my father works in BSNL so I am the only true person who have seen the rise and fall of this Restaurant
.
I was shocked that this restaurant r taste and ratings dropped significantly
.
Due to its poor service, management, food, price and other's
.
In simple words this restaurant is history now it will sink slowly

Recently we visited this place we ordered chicken chow . We were just having our chow at that time one baby cockroach came into our table . This was very very disgusting . Early this restaurant were very good but now it just needs improvement ... and one thing I have to say that staffs were just full of attitudes .....
Prasenjit Roy
Food was good, but a worst ambiance. Rates are bit high I suppose, looking at the service and ambiance. Don't ever make a mistake to make your way to this restaurant.

P.S.: I even saw a 5inch long mice running over the place! 😠
Iftekhar Uz Zaman
One of oldest restaurant of Guwahati where I ve visited may be more than 100 times..Same food ..Same quality..Pocket friendly..But they need to improve..May be a facelift of the place.. Little upgrad in menu and taste enhencement..Else there are hardly few takers now of their food..
Gargi Deka
One of the old resturants in Guwahati. Well known and well located. The food here is very basic. Had visited this place even in school days. 1 thing that i like about this place is that they serve quite a generous portion of their dishes.
Hrishiraj Talukdar
One of the oldest restaurant in town.the food quality is not the same as it was before. The chowmeins were a bit popular. Chinese portions are the dish which you can try here
Alif Ahmed
This place used to be one of Guwahati's finest restaurants once upon a time. Now it's just an average restaurant surrounded by better restaurants. The service here is not up to the mark. Ambience is just okay. Food quality is mostly average.
Manjil Saikia
The unusually high rating might surprise a lot of people, but this place has nostalgia seeped into my memories. Many get-togethers, many dates and many random evening snacks were had at this place, it seemed so welcoming that even now whenever I visit Guwahati, and if I pass by Panbazar or Cotton College, I go inside and order at least one cup of coffee.

The food can be made better, the prices reflect the menu and food well. Given a choice over another place, I would still choose Sunflower.
Soumi Sarkar
A small, cosy, mediocre restaurant to have food. We had Chinese food here twice. We had chicken fried rice both the times. It was worth the money. Fried rice was not so tasty but the restaurant was quite pocket friendly.
Anupam Sarma
Used to serve the best mughlai parantha.
Although the taste has gone down but the options for quick casual snacks in this place are many .
So if you are in panbazar area and want to grab a quick bite, sunflower is the place to be.
Nabajyoti Das
This is one oldest place in Guwahati. Been there many times as like many. Recently again I visited the place. Somewhat I have to say, the food is degrading very. With expensive money sadly this place is not a worth anymore.

Service: 2/5
Food: 2/5
Ambiance: 1.5/5

As a local food outlet, good. Put less oil and add more taste. These outlets are in college campus and they almost get customers on daily basis, but to attract foodies nowadays you guys will have to make some special tastes.
Shrabandip Mahanta
I ordered Chicken Pulau and it was hands down the worst i ate in my life, i barely finished half, its located in such a great place and seriously they need to change their cook and also thier decor to compete with the other restaurants. Its a huge NO from me.
Twahir Alam
One of the all time fav places of the area, the place serves good Chinese food. I just love the gravy chowmein served there and also, the chicken cutlet. The sitting is good and cosy.

This place is won by one of father's friend and so we just went for some quick packings done for home as we were returning back from an over night journey and my mom was really tired to cook food for dinner ..
We got chicken noodles, veg fried rice , chicken manchurian and French fries I guess ... Honestly it's really mean commenting as such but it was a disaster ...
Noodles were over boiled, manchurian felt like cornflour and chicken was not cooked well
Lastly French fries were like potato fry which we do at home 😰
Overall I have a really bad experience !
Arindam Majumdar
As its one of the oldest restaurant of the Guwahati City .I used to visit this restaurant with my parents when I was a kid . The decor that time was as good for that time .The quality of food and the crowd was good .As it is located in the hub of Pan Bazar with Cotton College nearby it was a very good restaurant of that time .But now with time there is no change rather it became a neglected restaurant as new n better restaurants brewed up nearby .The decor is old n the staffs are old , the style is old ..Food quality not at all good . Only as its one of the oldest outlet people are visiting the place .The place needs complete makeover to compete with the market .
Kiranjit
It is one of the oldest food outlets in guwahati but it was discovered lately by me.. the menu offers a lot of items to choose from which you may not find in other restaurants.. and it hasnt lost all its charm at all though quite old and not so good in terms of interiors but the food is nice.. I'm also surprised to see poor ratings for this outlet..
Abhilasha Bora
This is one of the oldest joints of Guwahati, so I have heard from almost all my uncles and aunties. But this was my first ever visit there. Entering the restaurant did give a shady kind of a feel. But you can't judge a book by its cover. The service made up for it and the food portions, most definitely did. The mutton noodles were yum. And the chilly chicken, though not quite traditional, did leave a mark. The portions were huge. It was easy on the pockets too. But, although the food was good, it wasn't outstanding. I don't know if its quality has deteriorated over the years. The place exudes an old school charm, so brownie points for that. Overall, I'll give a thumbs up to this joint and would go back again!
De Specialist
One of the oldest joint in panbazar and once upon a time it use to be a very popular joint but the quality has drastically declined in recent times. I guess the customers visit the joint due to a sentimental quote. I have visited this place a lot of times but I have been disappointed almost everytime. I cant say much but chicken mughlai paratha is a strict no no. Food is very oily n unhygienic. Really thumbs down.
GAURAV MITNA
We tried manchurian and fried rice.... There was a stone in the fried rice and the manchurian balls were quite hard so the visit to one of the oldest eatery of the town was quite dreadful.
Siddhartha Kataki
This is one old eatery which I discovered quite late in my life. I go there for the mixed fried rice, which is one of its kind, if not among the best. But of late, I find it funny to term it as mixed fried rice as it mostly contain pieces of chicken & chicken liver - which is a bit disappointing. The portion size can be overwhelming for some. Service is good and reminiscent of an era gone by in a positive way. Ambience does not grab any eyeballs but I doubt those who visit this restaurant gives any damn about it.
Arbaz
This is one of the oldest resturant onecof the best place to try mughlai .Lots of memories with this resturant anyone visit this place must try chicken tikka masala with butter nan
Suman Tippara
The restaurant is a total waste. We ordered chicken fried rice, pulao n egg Biryani and believe it guyz, all the dishes were practically same and really no taste. I curse myself going there and wasting my bucks. Don't waste your bucks in this bogus restaurant
Prasanna Baruah
This place has stood the test of time....have been visiting this place since my childhood days though the food is pretty much standard there but I still like the place only because of the memories associated with it.
Must tries from this place the chicken pakoras, chilly chicken and the spring rolls...

One of the oldies in Panbazaar, Sunflower has been around perhaps since Sir Henry Cotton decided to establish the eponymous institution that still stands proud today. No wonder that the waiters still retain a tinge of that quintessential
English coldness!

Jokes apart, I, like every Cottonian worth his salt, have been there numerous times during my salad days. In between classes, bunking lectures on Revenge Tragedy and Aristotle to soothe myself with the guilty pleasures of a dimly lit restaurant and its greasy, guilty fare.

As one knows so well, things lose their meaning once the context is obliterated. Ditto for Sunflower.

Just another convenient place in Panbaazar now to grab a meal. Chicken fried rice, chilly chicken, naan or the soup; it's now as unremarkable and unexciting as life after college.

Still go there once in a while, partially because of its proximity to office and partially to relive my bittersweet memories, the hopeless, incorrigible nostalgist that I am.

Another old joint. Last time I was there, I was a kid, not even in high school. I think it was near from Nehru park.

Repeat to fill out:
Another old joint. Last time I was there, I was a kid, not even in high school. I think it was near from Nehru park.

I hv visited this place once n that was my last vist there .....nothing much too say about this place as we foodieess are very particular about wat we want n u know wat i mean..
Dhritiman Sharma
I dont know why i got the idea to go there. Maybe at somepoint of time it was a good place but now its not worth a visit. I liked the chicken cutlet. But the nan was doughy almost chocked on it. The chicken rogan josh burned my mouth and honestly i can cook better aloo matar. Bad experience
SUMIT DAS
Another one of those eateries which have been there since ages..a popular joint among college kids and the food is decent but nothing extraordinary. A few of the items seem overpriced as you can get more of quality and quantity at many other joints. Tried their kashmiri chicken for a change. Unfortunately, the amount of cherries and pineapple slices they used made the chicken look like garnishing stuff while it should have been the other way round..
Overall, a 'can' visit place ,not a 'must' visit one.
Chiranjeev Das
Discovered this place thanks to the other day. The establishment was split, with comfortable dining space, albeit poorly lit. The staff wasn't the promptest in the world, but good enough for getting food coming on the tables at a satisfactory rate.

Food was great in the taste department, but leaves you wanting in terms of plating. However, this place came across to me as one that focuses more on the taste, quality and (thankfully for students), quantity of food over looks.

Should the restaurant owners decide to spruce up the interiors and provide better lighting to uplift the general ambiance, this will be a go to for anyone near panbazaar.
Jyotirupa Das
Ambience: The place is simple and calm. And to me, very very familiar.
Food: I have been having the veg fried rice and the chicken butter masala for at least six years now. It has always been decent. Recently tried their chicken 65 and American chopsuey. I don't see myself ordering them again. The chicken was way too tangy and the chop suey wasn't crispy enough and also had more fried liver than any other form of meat or egg.
Service: the time taken is okay. Some of the staff have been serving there for years now, so they are experienced and well-acquainted with the way things should be done.

Sunflower is one legendary restaurant in Guwahati & it still maintains it's charm. The spring rolls and chowmein are amazing. Sunflower is always packed with people during lunch hours. Good service
RASHMI CHOUDHURY
Yesterday night me and my cousins went here for dinner after watching a movie. It was around 9.30 when we reached there and the restaurant was about to get closed. We were left with very limited options to choose from. We ordered chicken tikka Masala, mutton roganjosh and Jeera rice. The Jeera rice didn't have the smell of Jeera and it tasted nothing else but plain rice. Mutton was OK but the chicken tikka was very tasty. We stayed back up to 10.45 and the staff were very polite and patient all throughout.

Heard a lot about this restaurant. This restaurant used to be my dad's Adda place when he was a college student. But to be honest I didn't liked its quality. So make sure about the price before ordering something ! -_-
Karabi Kachari Vijay
This place holds special memories for me.. I mean how can a Cottonian ever miss this place?? From b'day parties to friendship day, it has been a place for celebration. The prices on the menu is still balanced with time. Even after 10 years, their chicken Hakka gravy noodles still tastes the same & I so love it.. Their chicken-do-pyaza is also one of the tasty dishes in their offering n don't miss the Mughlai parathas if it's still in the menu ?

Sunflower is one of the oldest of the restaurants in Guwahati and was once the meeting point of some of the renown personalities of the present time. However, gone those times and gone that Sunflower. The Sunflower today exists is a total disaster when it comes to the ambiance. it is dark inside and the atmosphere looks not worth seating for long. Had once tasted spring rolls in Sunflower and thought of recalling those sweet memories back but the spring role I ordered during my recent visit to the restaurant disappointed me.It was full of onions and the onions made it taste sweet. A sweet spring roll was definitely not what I imagined.

Sunflower has lost the flavour and the charm of the yesteryears!

Very nice to visit when super hungry ????.
Its food is good in taste. However i visit here for its worthily pricing of food, quality as well as quantity.
Murchana
This place has got lots of memories attached to it.Few years back when guwahati had just a few famous eating joints, people would come from far and near just to this place to have food considering its affordability and average taste. The place is jampacked all year especially during the lunch hours. You can literally see people waiting outside to get a table cleared. An average place for office goers and college students to hangout considering the pocket friendly prices.
I myself have been there a numerous times whenever I had gone out on a quest of book searching in panbazaar.Being a pocket friendly place i have no complaints with its food quality but the only disadvantage would be the long serving time.Nonetheless a perfect place to calm down your hunger if you'r on your way to the office or college

the ambience is okay. the food is just about good. service is prompt. but other amenities such as the washroom is very unhygienic. i hope they improve on all there shortcomings of an otherwise good mid budget restaurant.

Cheap food.... :-p
Located at Pan Bazaar, Sunflower is a dine-in A/C restaurant.
It is mostly frequented by office-goers, college students, and couples etc.
It serves North Indian and Chinese cuisine. The food is cheap, filling and tasty.
It has a variety of pulao, fried rice and chicken specials. I'd recommend the Sunflower special and the chicken fried rice... also, generally an order for 3 people is enough for 4 people to gorge on!!
Mahendra Mohan Das
Situated just nearby the Cotton college compound, this place is not some food joint you should go to taste some good food, but if you are in Panbazar, or visiting Cotton college (or the famous Panbazar book stalls, or Meghdoot Bhawan, or anything within 100m radius) and want to grab some quality food at a normal price, this place is worth a visit.
A very old restaurant, this place has existed for ages, and like most other old places, the quality of this restaurant too has dipped a little, but it is nothing to worry about, if your choice of food is good.
Ambience is fair enough. Service takes some time, at least half an hour, and can be termed below average. The price too is not too cheap, but average, resulting in a less Value for Money.

Personal recommendation: Chinese/chicken chopsuey, Chicken spring roll.
In brief:
Food: 3.5/5
Ambience: 3.5/5
Service: 3.5/5
Value for money: 4/5
Liza
It is perhaps one of the oldest restaurants in this city; I remember eating here as a child and I've seen parents getting nostalgic over this place. So, it automatically acquires semi-legendary status despite the food being mediocre.
I'd recommend this place when filling your stomach gains priority over taste. I'm not saying the food is bad, just that there are better places with better food but for the price, I can't really complain.
Jonaq Niveer Sarma
It is an honest place to get your stomach filled. Once again, the waiting is of below average quality; but it's better than many. The ambiance was nice, the food even nicer. But it's on a average level... Nothing to blow your mind. It's an honest place, seriously. Sidhi baat, no bakwaas.
Siddhant Das
This is another one of those legendary joints in guwahati which has been existing since before i was born. I still have memories of going there as a child and really enjoying the chicken cutlets and chicken tikka. However in recent years, there has been a massive dip in quality.
The place is really accessible and being located in the middle of panbazar makes it a favorite joint among the college going kids of cotton and handique college. However the food is average and you get your usual indo-chinese and indian dishes, the lighting is moody and comfortable and the service is just adequate. All in all, its an average place and i can only recommend it if you are in panbazar and are looking to grab a quick bite or have to give a cheap treat to your friends.

Food: 3/5
Service: 2.75/5
Ambiance 2.75/5
Mallika Divya Hatimuria
It's a small eatery amongst the streets of Pan Bazar... Ironically, this place is not famous for its food but for its existence.
It's been there for decades now and people go there for memories, for familiarity, for convenience and of course for the friendly atmosphere..
College hangouts, silly dates, cheap birthday treats or any other treats for that matter, this place has seen only this over the years... I used to sit there for hours with just a cup of coffee and sandwiches...
Sunflower for me is a memory....
Dr. Samrat Roy
Sunflower, my fellow foodies, is all about nostalgia. It is one the few restaurants in Guwahati & especially in Panbazaar, which foodies of the yore & present fondly recollect as one their favorites. It has truly stood the test of time & along with the nearby Reboti, remain one of the icons of Panbazaar.

Don't go looking for a peaceful meal-time ambience here as this place is almost always crowded in the meal hours & frequented by the students & office-goers, both for their taste & price. Service is alright, though due to the crowd, they take quite some time in actually serving you your order.

My absolute favorite here is the Chicken Tikka Masala. It can easily compete with the best in business. Having it with steamed rice is something i call Bliss. I have also had there Chinese items & always found them to be quite good. Though i must admit they have had a dip in their taste in the last few years (which was also testified by Mom ).

Statutory Warning - By all means, avoid their Toilets. You will loose all your appetite. You have been warned. ;-)

Good place, good food....

This must be one of the most popular places to go for a date for the college couples around there. But that didn't deter us single people who frequented the place whenever we were near Paanbazar and were hungry and not "thirsty" as usually we are. The place is 'cozy', maybe the main reason for the crowd of couples that are attracted to the place like the sun for a 'sunflower'. The service is a bit slow, which is also a great thing for the couples. But the food is pretty good. It's better to try the Indian dishes because you find very few small restaurants serving good Chinese items in Guwahati.
